"Capt.
Lucas McConnell was granted immunity by Camp Pendleton's commanding officer,
Lt. Gen. James Mattis, and will cooperate in the remaining Haditha
prosecutions, the Marines said in a statement"
YAF directly confronts Rep. Jack Murtha in the halls of Congress over repeatedly accusing the Haditha Marines of murdering Iraqis “in cold blood.”
A must see… Mattera does it again.
UPDATE: The moral bankupttcy is endless.
Got a lead on some great investment opportunities.
For a one dollar
donation to my campaign, I'll return 'bout $74.00 back to your company in
contracts. Call me! Rep. Murtha 1-800-IM4-SALE.
Today is a day I will not soon forget. A morning of conservative speakers (Governor Pawlenty, Ron Robinson - extraordinary presentation on exposing the liberal media) - the highlight of which was Katherine Kersten, Minneapolis Star-Tribune columnist. Kersten very carefully explained in great detail the terrible liberal bias on college campuses and why diversity stops at the classroom door. What was most valuable to this crowd (college students) was what actions they could and should take in confronting bias. Somewhat depressing was her matter of fact closing that things would not change until this generation, her generation of faculty and professors, faded away (in other words, when they were dead.)
Lunch followed, which I thoroughly enjoyed ......... exchanging barbs with Johnson. Laughs easily, and so gracious. Hamish guy. That Fargo accent killed me. If I ever feel nostalgic I'll be sure to rent the flick. He sounds just like Jerry Lundegaard. Who am I to talk (kawffee time!) Lunch time speaker was KTLK host Jason Lewis. Smart, hardcore unforgiving conservative. He made a powerful argument against the Republicans move to the left and away from conservatism. He contended it was really behind our slap down in November 06.
The panel that Scott and I were on "Advancing your conservative ideas in New Media" followed. And I gotta tell you I had a blast. The panel kicked off with energetic opening remarks by Jason Mattera. Jason is exemplar of our best hopes of the Conservative movement. Smart funny and aggressive. Scott was up next and he was great. Fascinating. He took us through that morning on September 9, '04 when events began to unfold that brought us to the defining movement in 2004 Presidential election - Rathergate. Riveting. IMAO, this singular event changed the course of history. It seems to me that Johnson either ignores or negates his profound historic role in this monumental moment. When the history books are written, Johnson will be there -- that is if the West wins the war on the jihad (if the Islamists win, there will be no books.)
I followed Scott and it was pure exhilaration. I loved those kids. Magnificent.
Notable issues that Schweizer addresses in the work are Noam Chomsky's acceptance of money from prominent institutions whose policies he opposes (such as the Pentagon), living in an expensive home, and his visitation of socialist states such as Cuba.
Schweizer, in the rest of the work, makes similarly-toned accusations
against individuals the book focuses on, particularly surrounding
political issues such as environmentalism, labor, and taxation. After
the book's publication Chomsky talked to Schweizer about his creation
of a trust fund for his daughters and grandchildren.]].[1]
In Schweizer's follow up discussion with Chomsky, Schweizer reveals
that even though Chomsky abhors corporations and refers to them as
"fascist", Chomsky's own retirement fund is invested in large
capitalization NYSE companies and the TIAA-CREF
stock fund. Schwiezer points out: "A look at the stock fund portfolio
quickly reveals that it invests in all sorts of businesses that Chomsky
says he finds abhorrent: oil companies, military contractors,
pharmaceuticals, you name More here.
Meticulously researched, substantiated with tax and financial documents, Schweizer takes no prisoners. The libs ignored the book (hoping it would just go away I'm sure) but it is a powerful indictment of the left's knowledge that their policies are failures. They may preach nonsensical, failed policies for political purposes but they don't live them. Not for a second.
I was fortunate to join Schweizer, Johnson and his dear wife Sally for dinner in town. The conversation bounced from Iran, Iraq, November 06, Minnesota politics, Ellison, COULTER! (no one agreed with me) ...... everything. It was all that and a bag of chips.
I have to thank Jason Mattera of The Young America's Foundation who had the sagacity and balls to put a firecracker like me on the panel He saw my Coulter video and decided I had to represent the "new media." Hoo hah.
Young America's Foundation is a critical organization in building the conservative movement. I did not realize Reagan was a huge supporter of their mission. Young America’s Foundation is committed to ensuring that increasing
numbers of young Americans understand and are inspired by the ideas of
individual freedom, a strong national defense, free enterprise, and
traditional values.
Young
America's Foundation programs offer invaluable assistance to young men
and women searching for the encouragement and understanding necessary
to reinforce the values of a free society and individual
responsibility. As young conservatives, you have a very special task
before you — that of developing the political awareness of your fellow
students. ~ President Ronald Reagan
I was unaware that it was the Young America's Foundation that stepped in to save President Reagan's Western White House in the Spring 1998 to preserve it as a living monument to Reagan's accomplishments.
This is an important organization. If you can throw them a few bucks. Do it. They are rearing our young.
Atlas in Minneapolis. Delayed. Flew into the rain and an airport with no signs for taxis. Took a half hour - a train (the tram!) to find a damn taxi. But once I got to the Midwest conference of the Young America Founation, it reminded me of the scene in The Wizard of Oz when Dorothy wakes up in Oz and the film goes from sepia to technicolor. It is hugely satisfying to see young, rational college students converging to take control of their future and the future of this country. My mood improved at once. Shiny happy people!
Knowing what we do about the oppressive environment on left wing indoctrinating college campuses, it can't be easy being a conservative university student. These young people are
wonderful, truly. And brave. Stealth.
John Ashcroft was the man of the hour. Ashcroft thas made it his business to go to college campuses nationwide (just six this month) helping students refute the myths and lies of the liberal left. Ashcroft was passionate. Animated. Inspiring. I spent time chatting with him and his really sweet wife, Janet. She is a involved and energetic as Ashcroft. They are delicious together.
His new book is out, Never Again: Securing America and Restoring Justice and from his remarks and our conversation it is a clear explanation of our defensive measures on the war on Islamism. Every argument the left made agaisnt FISA, the Pariot act is nothing short of nonsensical.
"I question whether individuals and groups who have
chosen to ignore the tenets of the Geneva Convention by
attacking civilian targets should benefit by those
rules,"
"They haven't been
charged because there's nothing to charge them with.
They are being detained until the conflict ends. Would it
make sense to let them go to get another shot at us?"
"This administration has been one of the most
restrained in the use of executive power in the history of
the United States," he said, noting that George
Washington steamed open private letters and Woodrow Wilson
ordered the monitoring of all private communications that
crossed the U.S. border.
"I think religious people should speak their minds as
loudly as they can, but as citizens," he said.
"All citizens should have the right to speak their
minds, but no one should get any special privileges because
of religion."
Ashcroft has been taking to campuses with his much needed message. Here is last week's appearance in Syracuse ascovered by the Syracuse
Post-Standard;
Ashcroft, whose conservative politics and aggressive use of
the Patriot Act made him a lightning rod during President
George W. Bush's first term, used humor and history to
explain why the words Bush spoke to him immediately after
the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks changed the U.S.
government's role forever.
"He said 'Never let this happen again,'
" Ashcroft recalled. "That was such a simple
statement, but it meant a profound reorientation of the
Department of Justice."
Instead of documenting history to prosecute individual
cases, Bush's directive essentially required the office
to change history before it was made, Ashcroft said. The
precautionary steps needed to do that meant limiting some
traditional liberties; an apparent conflict that dominated
both Ashcroft's speech and the 45-minute exchange with
students that followed.
"I don't see liberty and the need for security as
opposing values," Ashcroft said. "I see liberty as
the overwhelmingly dominant value. And whatever you need to
do to make liberty more secure should be done."
Spending the evening soaking up everything Ashcroft was divulging was a unexpected but welcome bonus. I was invited to speak on a panel discussion on blogging, the new media and activism with Scott Johnson of Powerline (now how cool is that?) Scott found me at the cocktail hour and we did the blogger dance of glee. Powerline was my
first blog discovery. It saved my mind post 9/11 and lead me to Little Green
Footballs ........ and invariably here so it was like meeting your birth parent. If it sounds hokey then sue me.
His wife, Sally, is as witty and pretty as you would expect and it felt
like old home week in the sphere. Yeah it was heady alright. Great people.
Scott Johnson and Peter Schweizer dining and dishing. Johnson spent the better part of the conversation lamenting Dinesh D'Souza's inexplicable descent into dhimmitude. And rightly so, D'Souza has become such a tool (or fool) either way it aint good.
Ashcroft was excellent. We need forceful voices in the administraton speaking to these issues on a consistent base. Getting it across to the American people. Otherwise there is a vacuum filled by big fat bullies.
Here is Ashcroft on liberty and security
If you have a half hour listen to all of his remarks. His is so plain spoken, so clear, so logical (so refrreshing)......... it defies reason that this country is so twisted in knots. Download Ashcroft330.mp3

"Pamela Geller is one of the most polarizing women in the country."
Village Voice
"Pamela Geller's writings, rallies and television appearances have both offended and inspired, transforming Ms. Geller from an Internet obscurity, who once videotaped herself in a bikini as she denounced “Islamofascism,” into a media commodity who has been profiled on “60 Minutes” and whose phraseology has been adopted by Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin." The New York Times
"Geller and Spencer are probably the most important propagandizing Islamophobes in the world, these people's voices speak very loudly — not just here in the United States but overseas." Heidi Beirich, director of the Southern Poverty Law Center's Intelligence Project
"I would give the greatest sunset in the world for one sight of New York's skyline. Particularly when one can't see the details. Just the shapes. The shapes and the thought that made them. The sky over New York and the will of man made visible. What other religion do we need? And then people tell me about pilgrimages to some dank pesthole in a jungle where they go to do homage to a crumbling temple, to a leering stone monster with a pot belly, created by some leprous savage. Is it beauty and genius they want to see? Do they seek a sense of the sublime? Let them come to New York, stand on the shore of the Hudson, look and kneel. When I see the city from my window - no, I don't feel how small I am - but I feel that if a war came to threaten this, I would throw myself into space, over the city, and protect these buildings with my body." Ayn Rand
