The biggest loss of personal freedom in the history of the United States is about to take place -- under Obama.

On the Today Show he identified some of the "sacrifices" he will expect America to make. He will regulate the power in your home, how green your buidling is, what car you drive, he will micromanage work rules, he will impose new burdens on employers (not the least of which is a massive tax increase to 69% on self employed persons making over $250k). Obama will also be obliged to pass every dream list from Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, including the "fairness doctrine" which will attempt to ban conservative speech on the public airwaves. He will lurch America froma fundamentally capitalist system to a socialist system which vastly expands America's limited socialist programs and massively redistributes income via the IRS through tax rebates to people who do not pay taxes.

And this is just the beginning. Even with 4 years in office, it may take decades to unwind the socialist agenda. The tentacles of the federal government will reach into each and every aspect of your life.

Obama's agenda is about power, control and redistribution of wealth. The change will be horribly negative, but it will definitely be a change.

We had a great conversation with Pamela Geller whose popular blog is Atlas Shrugs..  Pamela spoke to us about the origins of both her blog and her political views which were quickly shaped in the aftermath of 9/11.  The attacks on the World Trade Center led her to want to better understand the character and motives of those that attacked the United States.  In the process of trying to find answers on her own through primary research, Pamela began to formulate her perspectives on the threat of radical Islam.  During our conversation, Pamela indicated that she found that blogs were a source of more detailed and thorough information than the main stream media.  As such, she began focuses on getting information from reliable blog sites.  We spoke about some of the contributing factors to the rise of radical Islam.  We also discussed Jimmy Carter's administration and the notions of post war mentality versus post-historical perspective.

We also spoke about the 2008 presidential election.  She cited that nearly 50% of people believe that the media is helping Barrack Obama.  In addition, we touched upon the New York Times on-going flap with the McCain campaign.

Kathryn Jean Lopez: Am I wrong in saying that Barack Obama did not impress Israel?

Caroline Glick: Israelis are very caught up with our local news right now. Foremost on our national agenda are the seven criminal probes being carried out against Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, the political maneuvering surrounding those investigations, and the expectation of new elections or some governmental shake-up in the wake of Olmert’s likely indictment on fraud charges. Consequently, Obama’s visit didn’t evoke any deep-seated interest in Israel.

At the same time, he didn’t make any serious mistakes during his visit so to the extent he made any impression, he made a positive one. There is trepidation in Israel about the statements he has made about Iran and the division of Jerusalem and his associations with anti-Semites like Rev. Jeremiah Wright. But the media wasn’t given much opportunity to challenge him on these points and so the trepidation was not dispelled. But again, Israelis by and large just weren’t that into him.

Lopez: What was the point of the trip there so far as you can tell?

Glick: The point of the trip was clearly to shore up support for Obama among American Jewish voters. It is hard to know whether he was successful in doing so or not, although he certainly didn’t hurt himself among those who already support him.

His repeated assertions of his commitment to Israel’s security were repeatedly contradicted by the policies he wishes to adopt if elected. On the one hand he opposes permitting Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, but on the other hand, he insists that the way to make this happen is to sit down and talk to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who has made annihilating the Jewish state one of his main goals in office. He says he understands Israel’s need to protect its citizens from terror attacks but then he says that Israel’s interests are served by strengthening the Palestinian terror groups by extending Palestinian sovereignty from Gaza to the West Bank. Gaza is ruled by jihadists from Hamas who are bankrolled, trained and armed by Iran. How are Israel’s interests served by importing jihadist control to the outskirts of Tel-Aviv and to Jerusalem?

Then again, like Israeli Jews, American Jews are not too caught up in details. He said he supports Israel and got his picture taken at Yad Vashem and the Wailing Wall wearing a kippa. So he probably succeeded in pulling more American Jews into his camp of supporters.

Lopez: How close did you get to the “messiah”?

Glick: I generally try to stay as far away as I possibly can from people who say they can make oceans recede. Our paths didn’t cross. In fact, I managed to be out of the country on Wednesday.

Lopez: How did the Palestinians take to him?

Glick: They were certainly gratified that unlike Senator John McCain, Obama made the trip to Ramallah and had his picture taken with Fatah chief Mahmoud Abbas against the backdrop of Yasser Arafat’s photograph. It is hard though to know if Obama’s trip changed the Palestinians’ impression of him. It is already clear, and has been for months that the Palestinians, like the Arab world (minus Iraq) prefer Obama to McCain because they view him as sympathetic to their war against Israel and their hostility towards the U.S. and the rest of the West. But he was in Israel for such a short time that it is hard to say that his visit excited anyone.

Lopez: Does he remind you of anyone?

Glick: Obama acts like a European leader in his treatment of Israel. On the one hand, he professes this profound respect for Israel and the Jews, and goes on and on about how our security is important to him. On the other hand, he espouses policies that undermine Israeli security and threaten its survival, and demands that the Jewish state become the only state that turns its other cheek towards our enemies as they try to kill us. This is the same sort of message that we hear from all Europeans leaders. And it is tiresome and insulting.

Beyond that, Obama is in a unique situation because of the adulation he enjoys from the U.S. and Western media. The media is willing to ignore all of the substantive contradictions inherent in his policy pronouncements and to base their support for him on a quasi-religious faith. I don’t remember this ever happening before in an American election — at least not to the same extent. It is an interesting sociological phenomenon that is worthy of academic research. On a political level, it makes debate very difficult since Obama is treated more as a symbol than a politician. And it is hard to debate a symbol.

American Jews who vote for Obama are sticking a finger in the eye of the Jewish people. Because, this is a man who surrounds himself with people who are known anti-Semites, who have dedicated their careers to vilifying the Jewish State, to trying to force the U.S. to abandon its alliance with Israel.

And he wants to talk with Ahmadinejad, who’s worse than Hitler in a lot of ways because he is not just resonating in one country, but, you know, throughout an entire region. And, he makes very clear that the Holocaust that he and his cadres in Iran want to enact is not something that’s going to take place over five or six years but over five or six seconds.

And, so, you know, the idea that he would say that he wants to talk to him is crazy. And, to say that, oh he’s going to—somehow or another—be acceptable from, from Israel’s perspective is ridiculous. The only good thing that I can see coming about—out of an Obama presidency for Israel is that perhaps, finally Israel will stop taking its orders from the U.S. State Department because it’s going to be impossible to ignore the fact that they’re hostile.

But as to that, I mean, I think that American Jews—and I understand that still over sixty percent of American Jews claim that they’re going to vote for him if he’s the Democratic nominee for President—, you know, should be ashamed of themselves. And, I think that it’s important for American Jews to be educating their fellow Jews about how dangerous that would be not only for the United States generally, but for American Jews specifically. And, so that’s one of the things that I would do. And, the other thing that I would do is what American Jews are doing and have taken on an increased role in doing since 2000 which is that they’ve been trying more and more to influence the kind of intellectual debates that are going on in college campuses.

Outrage over this clear Islamic symbolism forced the Memorial Project to agree to make changes, but all they did was slightly disguise the giant crescent. It is still described as a “broken circle,” and the unbroken part of the circle (the crescent) remains exactly as it was.

Today we will discuss this Islamic Crescent memorial.

Rawls's  training is as an economist. He was writing a book on republicanism (the system of liberty under law)  when he was discovered that the Flight 93 memorial was going to be a terrorist memorial mosque. World Ahead agreed to first publish my book about this rehijacking of  Flight 93 (Crescent of Betrayal, temporarily available for free download at CrescentOfBetrayal.com).

His  position is simple: The planned Flight 93 Memorial is a terrorist memorial mosque. Not only does the giant crescent point to Mecca, but architect Paul Murdoch proves that this orientation is intentional by repeating it in the crescents of trees that surround the Tower of Voices part of the memorial. (Repeated Mecca-orientations demonstrated in this animation). We hosted an open design competition in time of war and literally invited the whole world to enter. Of course we should have expected that the enemy would enter, and try to win a memorial to their heroes instead of ours. Much harder to understand is the willful blindness of those who are charged with the memorialization of Flight 93, which is supposed to be the symbol of our woken vigilance.

    Every place where the terrorists are memorialized in the crescent design, they are placed in the symbolic Islamic heavens (the crescent and star parts of the design). Every place where the 40 heroes are memorialized, they are depicted as symbolically damned, cast out of the symbolic Islamic heavens. One example is in the Tower of Voices, where an Islamic shaped crescent soars in the sky above forty symbolic souls that literally dangle below:

SAUDI ISLAMIC ACADEMY: The second half of the show I will host  John Cosgrove, Virginia Chapter Director United American Committee. who has led the charge against the jihad teaching Saudi Hate school and this week's stunning victory by concerned Americans.

The UAC regrets that it took the arrest of the ISA Director General, another government report, and a protest to convince the BoS to finally take action and heed the warnings of the USCIRF reports that BoS Chairman Gerry Connolly called TVC member Jim Lafferty slanderous for citing.

This is the Islamic academy in North Virgina that was teaching jihad, Jew hatred, and Islamic supremacy. Cited numerous times, the school promised to revise their textbooks - and they attempted to, with white out.

Virginia Islamic Academy had its corporate charter revoked and never filled out IRS forms Surprise, surprise. But will their Saudi connection bail them out? I would guess that it probably will. "Virginia’s Islamic Academy on Shaky Legal Ground," by Patrick Poole for Pajamas Media, June 27:

An investigation by Pajamas Media has found that more trouble may be on the horizon for the Islamic Saudi Academy and the Saudi Embassy.
PJM first reported on the academy, a school sponsored by the Saudi Embassy, two weeks ago when law enforcement authorities raided it, looking for evidence that the school’s director, Abdullah Al-Shabnan, had covered up sex abuse allegations by a 5-year old student. The raid occurred just three days after the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors had renewed the school’s lease despite evidence that the school continued to use textbooks promoting violence and religious hatred.

Since then Abdullah Al-Shabnan has been charged with failing to report the child abuse allegations and obstruction of justice. A protest was held last week in front of the academy and it received considerable local media coverage, including from the Washington Post. That coverage no doubt played a role earlier this week when in a stunning about-face the Fairfax Board of Supervisors sent a letter to the State Department asking them to determine whether the lease should be renewed or not in light of the report earlier this month by the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) that reviewed the academy’s textbooks and found that incendiary and hateful passages had not been removed.

The school has issued a press release claiming that the passages have been “mistranslated and misinterpreted,” and saying that the “textbooks are no longer at use at the Academy.” That contradicts statements made last week by school officials to the media that textbooks will be rewritten and reissued before the beginning of school. Why would the textbooks need to be rewritten if those under scrutiny are no longer in use?

The textbooks are not the only elements of the school that don’t hold up under scrutiny.

Virtually all of the establishment media press reports have wrongly claimed that the school operates independently of the embassy as a private entity. Even Tom Casey, the State Department’s deputy spokesman, made this error during his June 24 daily press briefing:

QUESTION: I understand that you’ve received a letter from the — from Fairfax County asking you whether you could give an opinion on the lease of the Saudi school in Alexandria and whether the county should extend that lease, which I am told it’s worth $2.2 million a year. But — just, I mean, do you expect to pronounce yourselves on that? Is that something that you –

MR. CASEY: Well, I think it’s something we’ve just gotten. We’ll certainly take a look at it and see what kind of response would be appropriate, but I — you know, it’s not something we’ve had a chance to really look through. As you know, this is a school that is incorporated and overseen through the county there. It’s not an institution that we have any sort of formal role in accrediting or managing. But certainly, we’ll take a look at the letter and if there’s some thoughts or advice that we can offer, we’ll certainly do it.

And State Department spokesman Nichole Thompson has also said:

This is a private school. It is not a part of the Saudi embassy. It is not part of a diplomatic mission.

These claims by State Department officials make clear their position that the Islamic Saudi Academy has maintained a separate corporate identity from the Saudi Embassy. But a review of the corporate records on file with the Virginia State Corporation Commission finds that the Islamic Saudi Academy’s corporate charter was terminated by the state on December 27, 2004. There is no indication from state records that the incorporation has been revived or renewed, and the last corporate report the school has filed with the state of Virginia that we could find was 2004 — the same year its corporate charter was terminated. A check of corporations in neighboring District of Columbia and Maryland found nothing for the academy.

Shocked? Don't be. Why should they have to obey kaffir laws?

The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism: A review essay Robert Kaplan, American Thinker

Were Jews living in Islamic societies victims of antisemitism? If so, to what extent? How did conditions for Jews in the Moslem East compare with those in Christian Europe? Is Islam intrinsically antisemitic? Are today's Moslems more antisemitic than those of the past and if  so, why? These questions have been the subject of vigorous discussion over the past few decades.

Andrew Bostom's new book, The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism: From Sacred Texts to Solemn History, brings massive evidence to show that Jews suffered greatly in Moslem societies due to an antisemitism intrinsic to the Moslem religion. In  this he goes against the commonly held belief that Jews under Islam suffered relatively little for being Jewish and that Islam itself is relatively tolerant, ideas put forward by the philosophes of the Enlightenment as part of their  battle with the Catholic Church, by Jewish historians who contrasted a mythical Muslim past with their own lachrymose conception of the history of their own people in Christian Europe and by contemporary historians of Islam, many of whom tend to view Moslem antisemitism through rose-colored glasses.

The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism is a large collection of a broad range of readings from a paragraph to several pages in length, smoothly joined together by Bostom's own writing. Included are the portions of Islamic scriptures relating to Jews, writing of Moslem scholars, preachers and rulers, writing of Jews who lived in Moslem societies and the reports of Jewish and gentile visitors to Moslem societies as well as writing of Western scholars who have studied various aspects of the experience of Jews in Islam.

The fact that Bostom's is a collection of direct quotations allows it to convey emotional tone far better than the usual scholarly writing where the author's impartial academic voice predominates. Travelers, diplomats and alien residents over the centuries have expressed emotions of sympathy, indignation and compassion regarding the situation of the Jews of Islam which academic authors are reluctant to employ. From their writing we learn telling details of the Jewish condition. For example a Christian traveler in Persia describes a Jew (who by Moslem law has no right of self defense) pleading with a Moslem who is beating his son to beat him instead.

A broad survey, Bostom's book informs readers about an area of history unfamiliar to most. Whereas readers will know of many cases of persecution of Jews in Christendom (the Crusades, the expulsion of the Jews from England, France, various German states and Spain, the Inquisition, the Chmielnicki massacres, the Kishinev pogroms, the Dreyfus Affair and so on), few will be able to point to similar occurrences in the history of Jews under Islam. Bostom fills in the canvas of such events.

One might have heard of the 1839 forced conversion of the Jews of Meshed, Iran (one of the four examples of Muslim persecution of Jews mentioned in the approximately one half page devoted to the subject in the Encyclopaedia Judaica's 72 page article on "anti-Semitism") but know nothing of the 4,000 Jews killed in Moslem riots in Grenada in 1066, the 6,000 Jews massacred in Fez in 1033, the hundreds of Jews slaughtered in Muslim Cordoba between 1010 and 1015, the Almohad depredations of Jews and Christians in Spain and North Africa between 1130 and 1232, the 1834 pogrom in Safed where raging mobs killed hundreds of Jews, the 1888 massacres of Jews in Isfahan and Shiraz Iran, the oppressive conditions imposed on Jews in Hamadan Iran in 1892, the 1910 pogrom in Shiraz, the pillage of the ghetto of Fez  Morocco in 1912, the pillage and destruction of the Casablanca ghetto in 1907, the 1679 expulsion of 10,000 Jews of Yemen to the unlivably hot and dry Plain of Tihami from which only 1,000 returned alive in 1680.

One might have heard of the 1941 pogrom in Iraq but be unaware of the 1291 pogroms in Baghdad and its environs.

Readers will be familiar with the Koran's description of Jews as descendants of apes and pigs but probably not be aware of numerous other ugly and antagonistic references to Jews in Islam's sacred writing: that Jews are the greatest enemies of Islam, that Jews are associated with Satan, the Jews killed Mohammad, that the Jews falsified their sacred books in order to expunge all references to Mohammad and more.

One might know that under Islam's rules dhimmis (Christians and Jews) are not allowed to ride horses but be unfamiliar with numerous other restrictions, limitations, humiliations, indignities and abuses they prescribe: the poll tax (jizyah) required from each dhimmi and paid in a manner calculated to demean the payer, the dress codes that enforce on dhimmis undignified attire, the compulsory wearing of a colored patch of cloth to identify the wearer as a Jewish or Christian dihmmi, the requirement to address Moslems with honorific terms, the denial of the right of self defense  against attack by a Moslem and more.

It is fairly well known that before Israeli rule of the Old City of Jerusalem it was common for Jews coming to pray at the Western Wall to be pelted with stones by Moslems. From Bostom's book one learns that throwing stones at Jews was common throughout the history of Islam, as was spitting upon them, hitting them, and pulling their beards.
   

Bostom's book is part of an ongoing debate about the comparative situation of Jews under the crescent and the cross. In this debate Bostom is in sharp disagreement with Bernard Lewis, the well known and much quoted authority on the history of Islam. Lewis has written:  Go read it all)
