It's back: the Saudi Islamic Academy that teaches jihad, grooms valedictorians cum presidential assassins, distributes hate textbooks etc., will have another hearing for their application to expand the school on state property. Bear in mind that two Christian schools were denied that same request. But it looks like the dhimmi board is going ahead. Make your voice heard.

How in bed is the county with ISA (Islamic Saudi Academy)? ISA Opponents filed a complaint with Attorney General over Fairfax County Dinner Invitation by the Islamic Group. The Fairfax County government distributed invitations to a free dinner to learn about the religion of "peace and harmony" -- Islam. There is collusion between the county government and the Islamists and they operate as one every time the ISA or related issues come up. The Saudis have purchased the Fairfax County government.

Each speaker will be given a short three minutes to encourage the Board to vote it down. If you don't want to speak just go to the podium and say you oppose the approval of the ISA expansion proposal. Please sign up today.

Next Monday is the final hearing on the radical Islamic Saudi Academy’s proposed expansion here in Fairfax County, Virginia. We do not have a single vote right now and one Supervisor, Pat Herrity who self-identifies as a “conservative”, is bobbing and weaving like you wouldn’t believe.

The last hearing brought a huge wave of new support to our campaign to shut down the “academy” and unmask the undiluted Shariah which is being practiced and taught there.

The Fairfax County government has dropped even the appearance of being impartial in this “land use” dispute. The government’s official community outreach office sent out an invitation to a free dinner to learn about the real message of “peace and harmony” of Islam. It was distributed by official government e-mail to churches throughout the county and sent to some vocal opponents of the ISA.

ISA is a national issue. With the cooperation of the local government, radical Islamists have established a madrassah here in the rapidly expanding Islamist enclave of Northern Virginia. Congressmen Frank Wolf (R-VA) and Anthony Weiner (D-NY) have both complained to the State Department about the Saudi-owned and operated “academy” but still no action.

Several national news organizations have talked with us about covering the hearing.

Calls to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors (see attached) from outside Virginia will help us drive home the fact that the “whole world is watching” and the Supervisors cannot afford to reinforce the stereotype of corrupt “Southern politicians” like those in the movies in which Rod Steiger played the Sheriff.

Revised Islamic History Books at Saudi Academy Face Criticism FOX

The school deleted from its texts some of the most contentious passages, including references to Jihad, killing infidels and hatred of Jews and Christians.

But critics say the books are still "toxic" and contain more subtle references, such as criticism of secular forms of government.

Ali Al-Ahmed, director of the Gulf Institute, which has been pressing the school to make revision since 2004, told FOX News that the textbooks characterize secular governments as "committing unbelief and allowing us to wage war against them."

"So you're teaching American students -- implanting the seeds of insurgency in these people -- and this is very dangerous," Al-Ahmed said.

He added that the textbooks teach girls that they should not aspire to be judges or political leaders and when a girl gets married, she must ask her husband if she wants to leave the house.

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom says it wants to look at the books but the Saudi government, which funds the academy, won't give the panel a copy.

"We can't figure out what the Saudi government has to hide and why they continually keep these secrets," said Felice Gaer, chairwoman of the commission.

Gaer's panel released a 2008 report commissioned by the U.S. Congress which stated the school's earlier textbooks contained several troubling passages, including one that claims it is permissible for Muslims to kill adulterers and converts from Islam, and another that claims "the Jews conspired against Islam and its people."

Gaer said the State Department should translate the textbooks and determine whether they encourage violence, which would be against the law.

The Islamic Saudi Academy developed new Islamic studies textbooks for all grades after a 2008 congressional report called portions of the previous editions troubling.

But Al-Ahmed said the Gulf Institute is putting together a detailed report on these textbooks that he says will show that the school "has been deceiving' the American people on its real intention".

There is a serious issue related to radical Islamic Wahabbists gaining a greater foothold in Fairfax/Fairfax County. 

On July 13th,  there will be a very important Fairfax County Planning Commission meeting to hear from the public about the Islamic Saudi Academy (ISA)’s request to expand their Shariah based school. 

The ISA wants to replace the current building on the property with a very large two-story structure which will give them 10 times the square footage they have presently. There will be a place to meet and pray for student use only—this will be a mosque.

The Islamic Saudi Academy (ISA), founded, funded, and controlled by the Saudi Government, seeks to expand its school in Fairfax on Popes Head Road.  Currently the ISA has two locations , an upper grade school near Ft Belvoir/Mt Vernon  and a lower grade school in Fairfax.  The Wahabbists want to consolidate all 900 (and growing) students at the Fairfax location. 

At the center of the controversy are the school’s curriculum and the crimes committed by those who attended or worked at the ISA:

• Ismail Selim Elbarasse served as an accountant at ISA for 14 years before he was arrested for videotaping bridge structures including the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in August, 2004. On the day of his arrest, he was also named as an “unindicted co-conspirator” for laundering money on behalf of the American affiliate of Hamas.

• Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, an ISA valedictorian, is serving a thirty-year prison sentence for providing material support to Al-Qaeda and plotting to assassinate President G.W. Bush.

• Abdalla I. Al-Shabnan, Director General (Principal) ISA, was arrested by Fairfax police in June, 2008 for obstruction of justice and failing to report a case of child sexual abuse involving a five year old girl at the Popes Head campus.  Al-Shabnan was fined $500.

§  Mohammed El-Yacoubi and Mohammed Osman Idris, were denied entry into Israel when authorities there found El-Yacoubi carrying what the FBI believed was a suicide note linked to a planned martyrdom operation in Israel.

There is a pattern of anti-American, anti-Semitic and anti-Christian activity at the Islamic Saudi Academy.  The curriculum sanctions murder against Jews, adulterers, homosexuals, and converts from Islam—for all other Americans these would be considered crimes.

Each time the ISA gets caught and there is a new flare-up over the hate taught at the ISA, the school “fixes” the curriculum a little.  In anticipation of this zoning request, Planning Commission hearings and then the full Board hearing , the ISA has once again claimed they have altered their textbooks.  However, while the Islamic Saudi Academy deleted some of the most contentious passages from the texts, copies provided to The Associated Press show that enough sensitive material remains to fuel critics who claim the books show intolerance toward those who do not follow strict interpretations of Islamic Shariah.

Because this school is operated by the Saudi government, it teaches from the Wahabbist Saudi texts provided by the Saudi Ministry of Education.  Just as an American school overseas teaches “American” curriculum such as the Revolutionary War, our Presidents and major holidays--this school teaches Wahabbist curriculum.

Just a Glimpse of What is Taught

• 15 of the 19 hijackers on September 11th were Saudi--educated in schools just like the ISA with Wahabbist curriculum.

·         Islam teaches that Jews are apes, the keepers of the Sabbath; while the swine are the Christian infidels of the communion of Jesus.

• The Saudi Ministry of Education texts have taught young people that peaceful coexistence with so-called “infidels” is unattainable and that violence to spread Islam is not only permissible, but an obligation.  It encourages violence toward others, and misguides the pupils into believing that in order to safeguard their own religion; they must violently repress and even physically eliminate the other.

• It is permissible for a Muslim to kill an apostate (a convert from Islam), an adulterer, or someone who has murdered a believer intentionally: “He (praised is He) prohibits killing the soul that God has forbidden (to kill) unless for just cause…”  Just cause is then defined in the text as “unbelief after belief, adultery, and killing an inviolable believer intentionally.” (Tafsir, Arabic/Sharia, 123)

• Jihad in the path of God – which consists of battling against unbelief, oppression, injustice, and those who perpetrate it – is the summit of Islam. This religion arose through jihad and through jihad was its banner raised high. It is one of the noblest acts, which brings one closer to God, and one of the most magnificent acts of obedience to God.

·         When is battle jihad in the path of God? … To fulfill an order from God,sacrifice in His path, spread the creed of monotheism, defend the realms of Islam and Muslims, and raise up the word of God. This is jihad in the path of God.

OBAMA'S FAILED POLICIES: NEXT UP, BOWING TO STATE SPONSORS OF TERROR SYRIA

It's hard to imagine, but Obama is going full throttle with his wrongheaded policy of appeasement and capitulation. The world is spinning out of control since the US switched sides (against itself, I might add) and elected a jihad President. 

Syria is on the US "State Sponsors of Terrorism" list. What's changed?

Obama's latest handover of Lebanon to Syria has generated the worst outrage and frustration among reformers and freedom lovers in the Middle East.

It was a nuclear bombmaking factory that Israel took out on September 6 - provided by the North Koreans no less. It was a UN investigation that indicted Assad and co of the assassinations of Hariri, Gemayal and journalists in Lebanon.

This, of course, is not new. This is Democrat policy: to side with America's enemies. Read about it in my interview with Egyptian Sandmonkey after Nancy Pelosi's visit with Assad (where clearly a deal was made with the devil):

SANDMONKEY: Let me tell you something. I was in Turkey a couple of weeks ago and I met a couple of Syrian activists. They one thing they told me that was really funny about the Pelosi visit. After Pelosi came to Syria two things happened. People on Syrian TV were saying, "We forced the Americans to knock on the Damascus gate!" Sort of like an admission that we messed things up in Iraq so much that America had to come and beg for their help.

But the day after Pelosi's visits there were immediate arrests of Syrian activists. That was the fruit she yielded. "Oh the Americans came over and they said they have a different foreign policy  and they're more interested in placating Bashar's ego." And he went out and got [arrested] everyone he wanted because he knew he had an ally in Washington that wouldn't pressure him as much.

CNN: "Syrian Ambassador to the United States Imad Moustapha said the decision reflects the genuine desire by the United States to reverse Bush administration policy and engage Syria, which he said would be good for both nations and for the region".

Of course President Bush withdrew the American representative, because Syria was assassinating the leaders of Lebanon, was/is supporting terrorism, and was meddling in Iraq and Lebanon. What's changed? - except that our President has switched sides.

Obama returns US ambassador to Syria FOXNews

The White House announced the plans Wednesday, saying the move reflects President Obama's commitment to be more "fully engaged" in the Arab world.

"This strongly reflects the administration's recognition of the role Syria plays, and the hope of the role that the Syrian government can play constructively to promote peace and stability in the region," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said.

According to Gibbs, since Obama took office in January there have been a series of meetings with administration officials and Syrian leadership.

The US pulled its ambassador to Syria in February 2005, expressing "profound outrage" over the assassination of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri who had protested Syrian influence in his country. Although Washington never directly accused Syria of carrying out the murder, the US had criticized Syria for its support of Hamas and Hezbollah, and for not doing enough to end the influx of militants into neighboring Iraq.

Jeffrey D. Feltman, the acting assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs, informed Syria's ambassador to the United States of the decision on Tuesday night.

This cartoon, funded by the Saudis, is timed for a Ramadan release. All of which points towards the preparation for a new intifada.

A Cartoon to Inculcate the Next Generation of Muslims about the  fake “Palestinian Cause”:

As the US government works to force an Israeli-Palestinian "peace process" forward, a significant obstacle to winning Arab public opinion and achieving a lasting peace is the current Arab Islamic narrative of the conflict. The narrative of “the Catastrophe of 1948” and the resulting “Palestinian suffering” has long served as an inciter of  violence and anti-American sentiment. A soon-to-be-released Arabic animated film, that aims to teach children about the faux “Palestinian Cause” from the viewpoint for a Palestinian"refugee", may serve to further cement this narrative in a new generation of young Arabs and Muslims.

The Saudi-produced film, titled “The Olive Dream,” tells the story of a young girl who in 1948 witnessed her father’s death at the hands of “Zionist gangs,” who “came to take” the non-existent Palestinian lands. The girl and her family are then forced off their land to the refugee camp of Jenin, where they endure the 2002 “Jenin massacre” before finally returning to their land at the end of the film.

Al-Jazeera Arabic profiled the film in April, where it aired clips of it and interviewed its producer/director, who said the “most important message” of the film is that “this is our land and we should hold on to it.”

He said the film aims to introduce children to the “Palestinian Cause from a geographic and religious perspective.” One battle scene depicts a military bombardment of civilians and young men fighting back, with a song playing in the background that says “the world has become a jungle, and the promises of people are mirages” and that “death is at the door.” Though most Arabic-produced animated films over the years have not enjoyed commercial success in the Arab world, The Olive Dream has been receiving increasing media attention ahead of its release because of its subject and its “high quality.”

According to Al-Arabiya’s website, the Saudi produced and directed film has a “suspenseful” storyline and the same production values as a “Disney” animated film. From the clips I have seen, the quality of the work is closer to that of a decent Flash video than a Disney cartoon, but still better than most Arabic-produced cartoons. The producers are reportedly arranging for distribution in all Arab countries and in Turkey, with a planned release date set during the family-oriented holy month of Ramadan (between August and September).

The film’s producer/director says he is working on an English version for international distribution because he sees the film as “directed at the entire world, not just Arabs and Muslims. It involves the most precious subject to the Arab heart.” Yes, incitement to kill Jews and annihilate Israel.Regardless of the success of the theatrical release in the Arab world, the film will most likely be later sold to a number of Arabic TV channels.  One clip from the film, showing the girl fulfilling her “Olive Dream” of returning to her land to plant an olive tree, is available on YouTube courtesy of the YouTube channel of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood. Saudis to Obama: Cut off and Abandon the Jews if Israel Rejects Suicide Plan

The Saudis, those misogynist oppressors, torturers, murderers, haters of all faiths except the death cult of wahhabist Islam, are telling their vassal Obama to cut Israel off of all aid.

Will the Muslim president heed the Muslim king? I don't care. I am sure Obama struck some faustian bargain with the wahhabi king when they met on Thursday. Obama knew the Saudis would give this ultimatum -- I am sure they planned it together. But if he does, every American Jew, every American Evangelical should transfer all of his/her wealth (big or small) to Israel, THAT DAY. Every last dollar into shekel. When you abandon free men in favor of enslavers -- action must be taken.

If those it-feels-good-let's-do-it Jews like Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, David Geffen (and that vile pisher Sarah Silverman) who were instrumental in delivering unto us the enemy in the White House don't transfer their wealth and continue to aid and abet the second holocausters -- I wish them luck in the ovens.

Perhaps Spielberg is anxious to film Shoah 2 -- he'll fly his film crew over to capture the molten ashes.

Saudis:  US Must Cut Off All Aid If Israel Does Not Agree To Peace Terms 

The United States should cut off all to Israel if the Jewish state does not accept the terms of the 2002 Saudi Peace Plan, Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal told Newsweek magazine.

 

The interview was conducted the day after President Obama’s speech calling on a “new beginning” in relations between Muslim nations and the U.S.

This calls to mind a post I ran back in early 2006:

If Saudi Arabia is demanding that Obama stop funding Israel if they don’t fulfill the 2002 Saudi “peace” initiative, what why not force Saudis to live up to the Jan 3, 1919 accord signed between Chaim Weizmann and Emir Feisal, son of the Sharif of Mecca? The agreement stipulated that ARABS will recognize the Balfour declaration and encourage Jews to emigrate to Israel.

Mayors to Visit Saudi Arabia The News and Observer (hat tip Jeff)

DURHAM -- Mayor Bill Bell plans to visit Saudi Arabia next month. Its government will pick up his expenses.

Bell will travel with 10 other mayors May 7-14, the city of Durham announced Monday. The mayors were invited by the Saudi Arabian embassy in Washington.

Bell said he was not sure how he was chosen for the trip, but he had spoken with representatives of the Saudi embassy during a trip to Washington for a mayors' conference.

"They were very impressed with the Research Triangle Park and the universities and how we've been able to blend public private partnerships here," Bell said in an interview.

The mayors will learn about the Saudi economy, educational system, culture, people and government, the city said in its announcement. They will meet Saudi business people, government officials and students and also visit an oil field.

"This mission will make it possible to learn more about this important long-term ally of our country," Bell said in a statement from the city.

Traveling with Bell will be the mayors of Elizabeth, N.J.; Rochester, Minn.; Denton, Texas; Alexandria, Va.; Davenport, Iowa; Phoenix; Cincinnati; Tallahassee, Fla.; Green Bay, Wis.; and Little Rock, Ark.

Saudi man divorces wife by text message Reuters

RIYADH (Reuters) - A Saudi man has divorced his wife by text message, a newspaper said on Thursday.

The man was in Iraq when he sent the SMS informing her she was no longer his spouse. He followed up with a telephone call to two of his relatives, the daily Arab News reported.

A court in the Red Sea city of Jeddah finalised the split -- the first known divorce in Saudi Arabia by text message -- after summoning the two relatives to check they had received word of the husband's intention, the paper said.

Saudi Arabia practises a strict form of Islamic Sharia law, and clerics preside over Sharia courts as judges. Under the law a man can divorce his wife by saying "I divorce you" three times.

The Saudi man was in Iraq to participate in "what he described as 'jihad'," according to the Arab News. Many Saudis have gone to fight with al Qaeda militants against the Iraqi government and U.S. forces.

During one of the few breaks in the heated meeting due to the overflowing crowd of ISA supporters, several of those who sought to speak out against the ISA were cornered and confronted by some ISA supporters. These ISA supporters denied all of the reports by the Associated Press, the Washington Post, other media, and U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. These ISA supporters told activists that the Washington Post and other reports of ISA textbooks calling for jihad and calling Jews apes and Christians pigs - were all lies. These ISA supporters said that the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom's report criticizing ISA textbooks stating that it is permissible for Muslims to kill coverts from Islam and adulterers - was a lie. They said reports of former ISA valedictorian Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, convicted in federal court of joining Al-Qaeda and plotting to assassinate President Bush - were a lie. They said that FBI reports that former ISA student Mohammed El-Yacoubi was carrying a suicide note with what it believed was planned to be a suicide bombing attack in Israel - were a lie. According to these ISA supporters, all of the reports about the problems with ISA are nothing but lies. In this exchange, one woman ISA supporter shouted out "it is all lies" and then after discovering that one of the cornered rights activists was a Christian, stated that "the Jews killed your Jesus." Later the same woman ISA supporter reiterated that ISA does not support hate.

In Virginia, while a bullying mob declared "I Support ISA," you should know that there were fearless activists who clearly sent the message that "We Support USA," and the inalienable human rights of equality and liberty inherent in America's identity.

But citizens concerned about the spread of Islamic supremacists' threat to equality and liberty must not ignore how vastly outnumbered such activists were and continue to be in representing us in public events and before government agencies. The six activists speaking out against the Islamic supremacist nature of the Islamic Saudi Academy were outnumbered by the estimated 600 ISA supporters by nearly 100 to one. This is not the first or the last such public event where the larger consensus on equality and liberty needs greater representation.

Clearly when supporters of Islamic supremacist institutions publicly demonstrate that they can outnumber their opposition by such vast numbers, such supporters will become further emboldened and confident in their ability to influence government agencies, laws, and legislature. In the Washington DC metropolitan area, and around the nation, it is not enough to commiserate privately over our concerns about Islamic supremacism, or to think that "preaching to the choir" on shared Internet blogs and via email is really accomplishing anything.

Those who believe that we can win victories for freedom by merely marching in place and reassuring ourselves -- need to wake up. If we are not willing to get out in public to defend equality and liberty as citizen activists, we can be certain that there will be plenty of others supporting institutions and ideologies that do not respect equality and liberty who will act in public. Those who support ideologies against equality and liberty will continue to persuade the media, the government, and your neighbors -- that they represent the majority of public opinion. We cannot expect courage from our government, if we don't see courage from the public they represent.

Will you let them win? Or will you do something about it?

Defending equality and liberty is inconvenient. It takes time and commitment. It costs you money. It interferes with your life. But equality and liberty cannot be taken for granted, with the forces of supremacism that are on the march, not just in Northern Virginia, but around the nation and the world. When you consider how inconvenient it is to challenge supremacism, think about what your life would be like without equality and liberty. Think about what type of future and legacy we would leave for the children and future generations. Good intentions are never enough. Being responsible for equality and liberty means that your action is needed now.

To help in the activist focus on issues challenging equality and liberty, our organization "Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.)" at realcourage.org has listed future events where we are publicly challenging supremacism. Take the time to look for such events, and see where you can get involved with R.E.A.L. or other activist organizations, such as ACT for America.

The next time you are concerned about the growth of Islamic supremacism in foreign lands, never forget that those who seek to challenge equality and liberty are right here today in America too.

Remember those like the "Fairfax 600" that publicly supported an Islamic supremacist institution in Virginia. They are convinced that you aren't willing to publicly challenge them. They are convinced that those supporting equality and liberty either don't care or are too afraid.

But those of us responsible for equality and liberty will Fear No Evil.

UPDATE: The bottom line is the "panel" was openly hostile to the anti-sharia folks and the residents. The Saudis pulled out all the taqiyya stops -- what a charade. The most powerful was a young Irish guy who had a Muslim girlfriend (and he was testifying at risk of his lover's wrath) and his friends were mostly Muslim. He said he knew kids who attended the school and they absolutely teach hate. His remarks about getting harassed, his car keyed, sugar in his gas tank for expressing his opinions around other Muslims made an impact, though it fell on dhimmi ears.

The whole hearing was depressing. Patriot Americans didn't have a shot.

Denise is bringing up the hate taught in their textbooks and the sexual abuse cover up by the school director.

Malik Abou is speaking -- in full headdress -- spoke very briefly (two minutes?) only to flatter and thank the dhimmi panel for their "extensive" analysis and for embracing diversity. She admits that the road is narrow and dangerous but it is incumbent upon all of us to drive carefully. The main problem is "a lack of knowledge" about a particular culture. Taqiyya.

Longtime resident Hazel Rathburn speaks -- with a British lilt? Another articulate American. She describes the "disaster waiting to happen" in terms of dangerous traffic conditions. She recites a list of very bad accidents and the increased in teen/children "who love to speed". The parade of great Americans is so impressive -- this is the most striking thing. 

Longtime resident and homeowner President Kasimides (sp?) is discussing the environmental impact. Very powerful presentation by this articulate woman. Smart. Noise, septic, and brings up the valid point that the soccer field was never county approved. The panel does everything in their power to shoot holes in every presentation -- they are Saudi puppets. It's unbelievable. The mostly ISA audience applauds them and the panel member asks that they not applaud -- like, "please, don't make it so obvious that we are in your pocket". Commissioner Janet Hall is really pathetic. She looks (and sounds) like she pals around with Cindy Sheehan. Dhimmi logic.

Next: John Marino -- President of Homeowner Association -- his focus is on traffic safety. Asking panel to reject the Saudi school as a danger to traffic conditions. "Main concern is increased traffic", the "country feel" and the danger to the hair pin curve. LAND USE! Most homeowners heard about the ISA land by accident -- why? Is this something you didn't want homeowners to know?  Or was it that you didn't want to know what homeowners thought?

SAUDI HATE SCHOOL EXPANSION UPDATE: FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!

Brian over at Snapped Shot tells me the Fairfax campus sits on "Residential-Conservation" land. He has an extensive post on it here. Go.

Atlas and Jihad Watch have both brought to my attention that the Fairfax County Planning Commission is going to be holding a public hearing this evening on a proposed expansion to the Islamic Saudi Academy campus on Pope's Head Road. According to the Commission's agenda, the public is invited to comment on the proposal, but the decision will be made at a later date. Specifically, ISA is requesting:

SE 2008-SP-025 – ISLAMIC SAUDI ACADEMY – Appl. under Sect. 3-C04 of the Zoning Ordinance to permit building additions and associated modifications to site design and development conditions to an existing private school of general education. Located at 11101, 11115, 11121, 11123 Popes Head Rd. on approx. 34.05 ac. of land zoned R-C and WS. Tax Map 68-3 ((1)) 61, 62, 63, and 64. SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT.

This campus was purchased from Fairfax Christian School back in 1985 for $3 million dollars. The "R-C" designation referenced in the above text means that the land it sits on is "Residential-Conservation"—meaning that it is placed within a protected watershed, and may not exceed a very restrictive permanent occupancy limit.

Why, then, do I have a feeling that these exacting restrictions are suddenly going to be waived to accommodate ISA's demands "requests?"

The reason ISA is seeking to expand their Fairfax campus is that they want move out of their Alexandria building. This, of course, is pretty funny, considering that they are leasing the Alexandria campus from Fairfax County in what can only be described as a sweetheart deal.

Shoot, the original lease on that property was issued in 1988, and was only intended to last for five years.

And yet, here we are 20 years later, and they're still there.

Why the rush to "consolidate" their holdings so suddenly?

Beats me, but I do know that their website has this to say:

Please attend a public hearing to show your support of ISA’s application for a permit to build a new school on the Popeshead Road site. We encourage all parents to attend the hearing. Having more people at the hearing, in support of the project, will increase our chances of succeeding. Our lawyer and six other speakers will present our case to the Board of Supervisors. The meeting will take place at 8:15 p.m., the night of the 18th. There are two other cases scheduled for that night, so please be prepared to stay late.

Remember: This means that the Academy seeks to move all 900 students to this Residential-Conservation property.

Which is supposed to be low-occupancy in order to protect the greater Potomac River watershed.

As any homeowner in this part of town will tell you, the regulations faced on anyone owning this land are abundant and laborious.

In fact, to give you a little bit of reference, here's how Fairfax County treats Christian schools who try to make the same types expansions—From the Washington Post, 9 July 1985, Metro pg. D3 (via LexisNexis):

Robert L. Thoburn, a Christian educator and former Republican state legislator from Fairfax, yesterday lost his bid to build a Christian school for 480 students in a residential neighborhood north of Fairfax City.

Thoburn's application to build the school in a thickly wooded section of Oakton was defeated on a tie vote by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. The vote was 4 to 4, with Supervisor Joseph Alexander absent. Alexander said earlier he would have abstained on the vote because he was not present for a public hearing on the school a month ago.

...

Despite the Thoburns' charge that the decision on the school turned on political issues, Supervisor James M. Scott, a Democrat whose district includes the Oakton area, insisted that the board considered land-use issues paramount.

Scott, citing the county staff's recommendation that the Thoburn application be turned down, voted against the school. He said it did not conform to the county's master plan, which calls for single-family homes on large parcels in the area around Thoburn's land.

Scott said that Thoburn had made concessions to the county in the course of negotiations on the school, including cutting the size of the student body by about 100, but that these changes were "minor in relation to the requirements of the comprehensive plan and the zoning ordinance."

Thoburn founded the Fairfax Christian School in 1961, and until last year it was located on Pope's Head Road south of Fairfax City. Last year, the Saudi Arabian Embassy paid him $3 million for the school's old campus, and Thoburn moved into rented quarters in two Baptist churches on Ox Road south of Fairfax City.

As you can see, even back in the days when this County was more Republican than it is today, the Board was hostile towards Christian schools.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that you can go into any church within Fairfax County and ask how their experience with the various County governmental agencies has been, and hear endless amounts of horror stories.

Mandatory (and expensive) traffic studies for any request to expand expansions. Outright denials of requests to expand parking lots to accomodate large congregations. Frequent and stringent inspections for code violations, which frequently result in citations for extremely minor infractions.

The list goes on.

The school deleted from its texts some of the most contentious passages, including references to Jihad, killing infidels and hatred of Jews and Christians.

But critics say the books are still "toxic" and contain more subtle references, such as criticism of secular forms of government.

Ali Al-Ahmed, director of the Gulf Institute, which has been pressing the school to make revision since 2004, told FOX News that the textbooks characterize secular governments as "committing unbelief and allowing us to wage war against them."

"So you're teaching American students -- implanting the seeds of insurgency in these people -- and this is very dangerous," Al-Ahmed said.

He added that the textbooks teach girls that they should not aspire to be judges or political leaders and when a girl gets married, she must ask her husband if she wants to leave the house.

The school has stood by its latest revision.

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom says it wants to look at the books but the Saudi government, which funds the academy, won't give the panel a copy.

"We can't figure out what the Saudi government has to hide and why they continually keep these secrets," said Felice Gaer, chairwoman of the commission.

Gaer's panel released a 2008 report commissioned by the U.S. Congress which stated the school's earlier textbooks contained several troubling passages, including one that claims it is permissible for Muslims to kill adulterers and converts from Islam, and another that claims "the Jews conspired against Islam and its people."

Gaer said the State Department should translate the textbooks and determine whether they encourage violence, which would be against the law.

There is a serious issue related to radical Islamic Wahabbists gaining a greater foothold in Fairfax/Fairfax County. 

On Wednesday March 18^th, at 8:15pm there will be a very important Fairfax County Planning Commission meeting to hear from the public about the Islamic Saudi Academy (ISA)’s request to expand their Shariah based school. 

The ISA wants to replace the current building on the property with a very large two-story structure which will give them 10 times the square footage they have presently. There will be a place to meet and pray for student use only—this will be a mosque.

The Islamic Saudi Academy (ISA), founded, funded, and controlled by the Saudi Government, seeks to expand its school in Fairfax on Popes Head Road.  Currently the ISA has two locations , an upper grade school near Ft Belvoir/Mt Vernon  and a lower grade school in Fairfax.  The Wahabbists want to consolidate all 900 (and growing) students at the Fairfax location. 

At the center of the controversy are the school’s curriculum and the crimes committed by those who attended or worked at the ISA:

• Ismail Selim Elbarasse served as an accountant at ISA for 14 years before he was arrested for videotaping bridge structures including the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in August, 2004. On the day of his arrest, he was also named as an “unindicted co-conspirator” for laundering money on behalf of the American affiliate of Hamas.

• Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, an ISA valedictorian, is serving a thirty-year prison sentence for providing material support to Al-Qaeda and plotting to assassinate President G.W. Bush.

• Abdalla I. Al-Shabnan, Director General (Principal) ISA, was arrested by Fairfax police in June, 2008 for obstruction of justice and failing to report a case of child sexual abuse involving a five year old girl at the Popes Head campus.  Al-Shabnan was fined $500.

§  Mohammed El-Yacoubi and Mohammed Osman Idris, were denied entry into Israel when authorities there found El-Yacoubi carrying what the FBI believed was a suicide note linked to a planned martyrdom operation in Israel.

There is a pattern of anti-American, anti-Semitic and anti-Christian activity at the Islamic Saudi Academy.  The curriculum sanctions murder against Jews, adulterers, homosexuals, and converts from Islam—for all other Americans these would be considered crimes.

Each time the ISA gets caught and there is a new flare-up over the hate taught at the ISA, the school “fixes” the curriculum a little.  In anticipation of this zoning request, Planning Commission hearings and then the full Board hearing , the ISA has once again claimed they have altered their textbooks.  However, while the Islamic Saudi Academy deleted some of the most contentious passages from the texts, copies provided to The Associated Press show that enough sensitive material remains to fuel critics who claim the books show intolerance toward those who do not follow strict interpretations of Islamic Shariah.

Because this school is operated by the Saudi government, it teaches from the Wahabbist Saudi texts provided by the Saudi Ministry of Education.  Just as an American school overseas teaches “American” curriculum such as the Revolutionary War, our Presidents and major holidays--this school teaches Wahabbist curriculum. 

The Saudi Ministry of Education texts have taught young people that peaceful coexistence with so-called “infidels” is unattainable and that violence to spread Islam is not only permissible, but an obligation.  It encourages violence toward others, and misguides the pupils into believing that in order to safeguard their own religion; they must violently repress and even physically eliminate the other.

Just a Glimpse of What is Taught

• 15 of the 19 hijackers on September 11th were Saudi--educated in schools just like the ISA with Wahabbist curriculum.

·         Islam teaches that Jews are apes, the keepers of the Sabbath; while the swine are the Christian infidels of the communion of Jesus.

• The Saudi Ministry of Education texts have taught young people that peaceful coexistence with so-called “infidels” is unattainable and that violence to spread Islam is not only permissible, but an obligation.  It encourages violence toward others, and misguides the pupils into believing that in order to safeguard their own religion; they must violently repress and even physically eliminate the other.

• It is permissible for a Muslim to kill an apostate (a convert from Islam), an adulterer, or someone who has murdered a believer intentionally: “He (praised is He) prohibits killing the soul that God has forbidden (to kill) unless for just cause…”  Just cause is then defined in the text as “unbelief after belief, adultery, and killing an inviolable believer intentionally.” (Tafsir, Arabic/Sharia, 123)

• Jihad in the path of God – which consists of battling against unbelief, oppression, injustice, and those who perpetrate it – is the summit of Islam. This religion arose through jihad and through jihad was its banner raised high. It is one of the noblest acts, which brings one closer to God, and one of the most magnificent acts of obedience to God.

·         When is battle jihad in the path of God? … To fulfill an order from God,sacrifice in His path, spread the creed of monotheism, defend the realms of Islam and Muslims, and raise up the word of God. This is jihad in the path of God.

·         Jihad continues until the Day of Resurrection.

Fairfax County Supervisor Pat Herrity, (Republican) who represents Fairfax, seems to be working to help this school--as are most others.  We need people to come and speak --(and pray!)  Last year we worked on this issue but the focus was the Islamic Saudi Academy upper grade school in Alexandria and the renewal of their lease for the old Mt Vernon High School.  Darci Nelson testified--and did a good job. 

Again, we need people to attend.   Most who attend can just be a presence and pray.  Those who like to testify can do so.  My husband Jim and I will help with testimony preparation.    Last year, when I registered to testify I was the only one.  When we arrived (grp of 5) we were well out numbered.  Jim was viciously attacked by Chairman Connelly (now Congressman) who repeatedly accused him (and the rest of us) of slander.

Wahabbists are colonizing many areas of Northern Virginia.   America’s history can be described as waves of immigrants coming to our shores seeking liberty and freedom.  The Wahabbists come to America and immediately conspire to reduce our liberty and freedom and impose their brutal Islamic Shariah law—and using our very laws against us to do this.    This is the difference between them and other immigrants.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia  — Saudi authorities have beheaded a citizen convicted of murdering his father following a dispute. (hat tip Allyson Rowen Taylor)

An Interior Ministry statement says the man was executed Monday in the holy city of Medina after being convicted for shooting to death his father after a dispute. It did not explain the nature of the dispute.

The 23-year-old woman, who became pregnant after her ordeal, was reportedly assaulted after accepting a lift from a man.

He took her to a house to the east of the city of Jeddah where she was attacked by him and four of his friends throughout the night.

She later discovered she was pregnant and made a desperate attempt to get an abortion at the King Fahd Hospital for Armed Forces.

According to the Saudi Gazette, she eventually 'confessed' to having 'forced intercourse' with her attackers and was brought before a judge at the District Court in Jeddah.

He ruled she had committed adultery - despite not even being married - and handed down a year's prison sentence, which she will serve in a prison just outside the city.

She is still pregnant and will be flogged once she has had the child.

The Saudi Arabian legal system practices a strict form of medieval law. Women have very few rights and are not even allowed to drive.

They are also banned from going out in public in the company of men other than male relatives.

Court to consider divorce for 8-year-old girl

A court in Saudi Arabia is reported to be preparing to hear a plea for divorce from an eight-year-old girl who has been married off to a man in his 50s.

The Saudi newspaper al-Watan said the girl had been married off to the man by her father without her knowledge.

The child's mother is thought to be pushing for the marriage to be annulled - though the father opposes the move.

In April, a court in neighbouring Yemen annulled the arranged marriage of another eight-year-old girl.

She had been married to a 28-year-old man.

Child-protection groups say children are often given away in return for hefty dowries, or as a result of old customs in which a father promises his infant daughters and sons to cousins out of a belief that marriage will protect them from illicit relationships.

Activists have called for an end to the practice.

The man was sentenced to 8 months in prison and 600 lashes and his student to 4 months in prison and 350 lashes last November for establishing a phone relationship that led her to divorce her husband.

Connolly Contributor Uses Aliases and Has Links to Hamas

Washington, DC – The Traditional Values Coalition (TVC) has called on Fairfax County Supervisor Gerald Connolly to return a contribution his Congressional campaign received from a radical Islamic official and reopen the supervisors’ lease renewal of the Islamic Saudi Academy. 

A Federal Election Commission report lists “Nehad Hammad” as the Executive Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and reports that he donated $500 to the Congressional primary campaign of Gerald Connolly, chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

Law enforcement officials note that Hammad is an alias used by Nihad Awad who is the founder of CAIR and is listed on the group’s website as its Executive Director. Before founding CAIR,   Awad served as spokesman for the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP) which the Federal Bureau of Investigation officials have identified as a front-group for the violent terrorist organization Hamas.

According to several sources, Awad uses the name Nehad Hammad on some official forms such as IRS documents instead of the name Nihad Awad he uses publicly as a top official at CAIR.  One former federal official refers to CAIR as “Terrorists R Us” and points to a long list of CAIR staff who have been convicted of financing terrorist activities.

“Mr. Connolly should return the check he received from Awad, Hammad or whatever his name is today,” said James Lafferty, a spokesman for the Traditional Values Coalition.

At a May hearing of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, Chairman Connolly attempted to bully and shout down witnesses from TVC who quoted parts of ISA textbooks.   He repeatedly accused the TVC witnesses of bigotry and yelled “slander” several times.

“The cause of Mr. Connolly’s anger and vehemence in defending the Islamic Saudi Academy is now apparent.  Are there other leaders of radical Islam involved in or financing Mr. Connolly’s campaign?

“Mr. Connolly has set a new low for what value-neutral politicians will do to raise money or pander to the most radical voting blocs.   He needs to come clean and scrub his campaign of all terrorist influence and sympathizers.

“He also needs to right the wrongs he has done and bring the same passion to reversing the decision of the Board of Supervisors to lease a former county school to the Saudi government. He tried to pawn it off on the State Department which does not have jurisdiction in a desperate effort to save face.   It is an affront to every Fairfax County taxpayer to provide classrooms to those determined to indoctrinate young people to become the next generation of terrorists.”

On June 23, 2008, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, responding to public outcry, unanimously reversed its support of the Islamic Saudi Academy, and called for the U.S. State Department to investigate the school. Though the UAC applauds the BoS’s decision to demand such an investigation, the UAC disagrees with the BoS’s claims of ignorance regarding the ISA.  Given the preponderance of available government reports, and the testimony presented to the BoS during a May 19, 2008 hearing on the ISA, the BoS only remained unaware of relevant information due to its own preference.  The UAC questions how the BoS on May 19^th, proclaimed their investigation of the ISA sufficiently resourced and conclusive, yet now claims the County lacks the capability to conduct an adequate investigation. 

The UAC regrets that it took the arrest of the ISA Director General, another government report, and a protest to convince the BoS to finally take action and heed the warnings of the USCIRF reports that BoS Chairman Gerry Connolly called TVC member Jim Lafferty slanderous for citing. 

The UAC also disagrees with the BoS assertions of impotency, as, on May 19^th, it fully had within its power to delay the approval of the ISA lease until completion of a US State Department investigation.  Instead it issued the ISA, and its now arrested Director General, an apology. The BoS has now called upon the US State Department to conduct the same investigation UAC and coalition partners requested on May 19^th.

The UAC believes the BoS can do even more, and believes the ISA has abused the goodwill of its hosts.  The BoS must stop passing the buck and finally hold the ISA accountable for its repeated lies and running a curriculum of religiously sanctified murder for almost 20 years.  Accordingly, the UAC calls for the closure of the ISA and competitive bidding for use of the County property it leases.

Al-Shabnan Charged With Failure To Report Child Abuse

The director of a Saudi government-funded Islamic school has been arrested and charged with failing to report a child abuse allegation, adding to scrutiny of the northern Virginia academy as protesters came out Tuesday to call for a federal investigation of its teachings.

 

Abdalla I. Al-Shabnan, director of the Islamic Saudi Academy, was also charged with obstruction of justice, according to a police report about the June 9 arrest.

The misdemeanor counts come at a time when the private school is under heavy criticism from a federal commission and others over textbooks that allegedly teach violence and hate. More than a dozen protesters lined up outside the school Tuesday, waving signs that read "Saudi hate is not an American family value" and "Islamic Shariah teaches violence and hate."

The protesters, including the conservative Traditional Values Coalition, want the Justice and State departments to investigate the school. The State Department last year obtained copies of the school's textbooks but has so far refused to make them public.

Andrea Lafferty, executive director of the Traditional Values Coalition, said the arrest of al-Shabnan is just further evidence of problems at the school. "The academy is a virtual one-stop shopping center for law enforcement," she said, citing the case of a former school valedictorian, Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, who was convicted of joining al-Qaida after leaving the school and plotting to assassinate President Bush.

Al-Shabnan's arrest came after police alleged he covered up an incident in which a 5-year-old girl attending the school reported that she was being sexually abused by her father. According to court papers, Al-Shabnan, 52, of McLean, told police that he didn't believe the girl, and advised the girl's parents to put her into counseling. But state law requires school authorities to report alleged child abuse within 72 hours of learning of the allegation.

Al-Shabnan is free pending trial. Police said in court papers that Al-Shabnan ordered a written report about the girl's complaint, which had been prepared by other school officials, to be deleted from a school computer.

Al-Shabnan has not returned repeated phone calls and e-mails from The Associated Press seeking comment over the last week. Last week, a federal commission issued a report detailing numerous troubling passages from school textbooks. A 12th-grade text on Quranic interpretation teaches students that it is permissible for Muslims to kill adulterers and converts from Islam, according to the investigation by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, a panel created by Congress that monitors religious freedom rights around the world.

12th grade? They are teaching this sedition and treason and murder to 17 year olds and the State department is protecting them. Who the hell is the State department working for?

Other passages in the school's textbooks state that "the Jews conspired against Islam and its people" and that Muslims are permitted to take the lives and property of those deemed "polytheists." The school issued a statement saying the textbooks had been mistranslated and misinterpreted and that some of the textbooks studied by the commission are no longer in use. But the statement offered no detailed explanation of the specific passages cited by the commission, and school officials have not returned calls seeking comment.

Generally, the school has said in the past that some of the textbooks it uses come from Saudi Arabia and contain harsh language inappropriate for use in the United States. The school has said it revises the textbooks as needed. Indeed, the commission found evidence that individual passages were removed from individual textbooks, sometimes covered up with correction fluid.

But John Cosgrove of Springfield, Va., one of the protesters outside the school, said the revisions are even more troubling given the passages cited in the commission's report that were not deleted. "It stands to reason that the material they left in is material they think is acceptable," Cosgrove said. The commission and other critics of the school say the State Department ought to take a more assertive role in regulating the school because it functions as an arm of the Saudi embassy.

Also, the school's lease with Fairfax County specifically gives the State Department the right to intervene if it has concerns about the academy. Protesters also criticized the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors for voting unanimously last month to extend the school's lease. The lease was extended after county officials conducted their own review of the textbooks and said they didn't find any serious problems.  The board's chairman -- Gerry Connolly, who is the Democratic nominee for Congress in Virginia's 11th District -- offered a strong defense of the school and accused the school's critics of slander during the meeting in which the lease was approved.

Islamic Saudi Academy Director Arrested for Obstruction of Justice

Fairfax, VA

On June 9th, Fairfax County Police arrested the Director General of the Islamic Saudi Academy (ISA), Mr. Abdalla I. Al-Shabnan, on the charges of Obstruction of Justice without Force (VA Code 18.2-460). Charged and released on the same day, Mr. Al-Shabnan is out on his own recognizance as he awaits his first hearing at Fairfax County General District Court on August 1, 2008, at 9:30 a.m.

Mr. Al-Shaban’s arrest stems from an investigation into the ISA’s alleged failure to comply with State requirements for reporting child abuse. According to authorities, instead of reporting the child abuse, Mr. Al-Shabnan deleted the report, contacted the student’s parents, and recommended psychological counseling for the young victim. Mr. Al-Shaban’s June 9 arrest comes after a May 23rd police search of the ISA where they gathered evidence that has contributed to the charges against Mr. Al-Shabnan.

Years of Controversy Continue

The ISA has been at the center of controversy for many years. A 2007 United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) report promoted members of Congress to call for the closure of the school. The 2007 USCIRF report prompted a coalition of concerned grassroots organizations to request the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors to delay the renewal of the ISA lease until a Federal investigation into the ISA was completed. During the hearing, County Supervisors dismissed concerns as slanderous, bigoted, and unfounded. During the course of the hearing, Fairfax County Chairman, and Democratic Candidate for the 11th Congressional District, apologized to Mr. Al-Shabnan for what he deemed slanderous accusations that impugned the integrity of the Islamic Saudi Academy.

Since that May 19 hearing, the Mr. Al-Shabnan has been arrested and the USCIRF has confirmed ISA textbooks justify murder as an Islamic right.

DOBOJ, Bosnia - For years, Saudi Arabia flatly denied it had provided money and logistical support for Islamist militant groups that attacked Western targets.

But that assertion is disputed by a former al-Qaeda commander who testified in a United Nations war-crimes trial that his unit was funded by the Saudi High Commission for Relief of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a government charity.

Ali Ahmed Ali Hamad, the former al-Qaeda fighter, gave the same account to The Inquirer in an interview in this struggling city in the central Balkans.

"Because it was the biggest charity, [the commission] helped the mujaheddin the most," Hamad said, adding that it had provided "everything a person needed to exist."

Hamad, 37, is expected to be called as a witness in a lawsuit filed by Cozen O'Connor alleging that Saudi Arabia and affiliated charities financed al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups as they geared up for the 9/11 attacks.

During the Balkans war, from 1992 to 1995, jihadists from North Africa and the Middle East were accused of atrocities against indigenous Serbs and Croatians.

Hamad admits having done "bad things" as an al-Qaeda fighter, and he is serving a 10-year sentence in a Bosnian jail for his role in a 1997 Mostar bombing.

Yet Hamad's account of his time in the Balkans went largely uncontroverted during the U.N. trial, where he was a prosecution witness.

He contends that the Saudi High Commission, an agency of the Saudi government, and other Islamic charities supported al-Qaeda-led units that committed atrocities. Mujaheddin units, he said, recruited fighters, prepared for battle, and financed their operations in the Balkans.

He said the Saudi High Commission had poured tens of millions of dollars into mujaheddin units led by al-Qaeda operatives who fought with Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan.

Money intended for humanitarian relief bought weapons and other military supplies.

The charities also provided false identification, employment papers, diplomatic plates and vehicles that permitted Islamic fighters to enter the country and pass easily through military checkpoints, Hamad said.

Several charity offices, including those of the Saudi High Commission, were led by former mujaheddin or al-Qaeda members, at least one of whom trained with Hamad in an al-Qaeda camp in Afghanistan, he said.

Like other al-Qaeda fighters, Hamad said, he was an employee of the Saudi High Commission for a time and traveled through the war zone in commission vehicles with diplomatic plates.

Saudi woman killed for chatting on Facebook Telegraph

A young Saudi Arabian woman was murdered by her father for chatting on the social network site Facebook, it has emerged.

The unnamed woman from Riyadh was beaten and shot after she was discovered in the middle of an online conversation with a man, the al-Arabiya website reported.

The case was reported on a Saudi Arabian news site as an example of the "strife" the social networking site is causing in the Islamic nation.

Saudi preacher Ali al-Maliki has emerged as the leading critic of Facebook, claiming the network is corrupting the youth of the nation.

"Facebook is a door to lust and young women and men are spending more on their mobile phones and the Internet than they are spending on food," he said.

The woman was murdered in August but her death was highlighted following Maliki's comments.

Social customs and religious rules oblige women in Saudi Arabia to cover their head and figure with a veil so that men are not distracted by the female form.

There are estimated to be more than 30,000 Facebook users in the oil-rich kingdom. Many Saudi women use nicknames and post comic images or drawings on their pages instead of photographs. Some Saudi bloggers have dubbed the network "Faceless".

Converting the Pope to Islam

Saudi Arabia: No churches unless prophet Mohammed recognised, says expert Adnkronos

Riyadh, 20 March (AKI) - No churches should be permitted in Saudi Arabia, unless Pope Benedict XVI recognised the prophet Mohammed, according to a Middle East expert.

While Saudi mediators are working with the Vatican on negotiations to allow places of religious worship, some experts believe it will not occur without this recognition.

Anwar Ashiqi, president of the Saudi centre for Middle East strategic studies, endorsed this view in an interview on the site of Arab satellite TV network, al-Arabiya on Thursday.

"I haven taken part in several meetings related to Islamic-Christian dialogue and there have been negotiations on this issue," he said.

Ashiqi's comments came after a declaration launched by the papal nuncio of the Persian Gulf, the archbishop Mounged El-Hachem, at the opening of the first Catholic church in Qatar last week.

The prelate had announced the launch of "treaties to construct a church in Saudi Arabia where it is banned to practise whatever religion they want outside Islam".

El-Hachem estimated three to four million Christians in the Saudi kingdom who want to have a church.

A member of Saudi Arabia's Consultative Council, Abdelaziz al-Thinani, rejected the prelate's claims saying that there were no Christians among the Saudis who were all Muslims.

Riyadh: A group of Saudi clerics has come out in support of a colleague who issued a fatwa saying two writers deserve to die if they did not retract views that he said made them apostates.

Shaikh Abdul Rahman Al Barrak, one of the kingdom's most revered clerics, said in a rare fatwa last week the columnists should be tried for apostasy for "heretical articles" published in Al Riyadh newspaper and put to death if they do not repent.

They questioned the Sunni view in Saudi Arabia that adherents of other faiths should be considered unbelievers, which Al Barrak said implied Muslims were free to follow other religions and their faith was on a par with other religions.

A group of 20 clerics, all associated with Al Barrak, issued a statement asking God to support him in the face of a "wicked attack" by liberals with "polluted beliefs".

If you are scratching your head as to why the LAPD is meeting with these two terror friendly groups consider the site of the meeting.

The Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Foundation is a masjid, a mosque and it was built under the auspices of a program initiated by the late Saudi King Fahd [source, King Fahd's website, http://www.kingfahdbinabdulaziz.com:80/main/m460.htm] which has spent an estimated $45-80 billion worldwide to construct Wahhabist influenced mosques.

The Omar Ibn Al-Khattab masjid is not alone in this distinction, as the King Fahd Mosque in LA was also constructed under the same program. Most of these radical mosques are held in an Arabic trust - a waqf - by the North American Islamic Trust [NAIT] a Saudi dominated entity [created by the Islamic Society of North American, ISNA, an organization also named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the HLF prosecution] crafted to impose an additional layer of Wahhabist religious conformity. It is believed that approximately 80% of U.S. mosques are so held.

Clarifying this relationship between the Saudis and American mosques, an announcement on the Saudi Embassy website states:

The Saudis have used this historically unprecedented mosque building program as a form of religious imperialism, intent on spreading the most radical form of Islam throughout the United States.

The Omar Ibn Al-Khattab mosque has spawned the Omar Center for Science and Technology, the Omar Academy, the Pontifex Media Center, the Omar Center for Social and Cultural Relations and the Omar Scholars Fund, a structure designed to conduct da'wa or Muslim conversion efforts.

Most of these programs are shadowy, with little in the way of a paper trail available to assess how and to what end they are organized, however the Pontifex Media Center has been involved in creating documentaries and interviews with Islamists including a key Tunisian disciple of the Muslim Brotherhood, Rashid Ghannouchi.

Saudi Arabia's rulers threatened to make it easier for terrorists to attack London unless corruption investigations into their arms deals were halted, according to court documents revealed yesterday.

Previously secret files describe how investigators were told they faced "another 7/7" and the loss of "British lives on British streets" if they pressed on with their inquiries and the Saudis carried out their threat to cut off intelligence.

Prince Bandar, the head of the Saudi national security council, and son of the crown prince, was alleged in court to be the man behind the threats to hold back information about suicide bombers and terrorists. He faces accusations that he himself took more than £1bn in secret payments from the arms company BAE.

He was accused in yesterday's high court hearings of flying to London in December 2006 and uttering threats which made the prime minister, Tony Blair, force an end to the Serious Fraud Office investigation into bribery allegations involving Bandar and his family.

The threats halted the fraud inquiry, but triggered an international outcry, with allegations that Britain had broken international anti-bribery treaties.

Lord Justice Moses, hearing the civil case with Mr Justice Sullivan, said the government appeared to have "rolled over" after the threats. He said one possible view was that it was "just as if a gun had been held to the head" of the government.

The SFO investigation began in 2004, when Robert Wardle, its director, studied evidence unearthed by the Guardian. This revealed that massive secret payments were going from BAE to Saudi Arabian princes, to promote arms deals.

The judge said he was surprised the government had not tried to persuade the Saudis to withdraw their threats. He said: "If that happened in our jurisdiction [the UK], they would have been guilty of a criminal offence". Counsel for the claimants said it would amount to perverting the course of justice.

Wardle told the court in a witness statement: "The idea of discontinuing the investigation went against my every instinct as a prosecutor. I wanted to see where the evidence led."

But a paper trail set out in court showed that days after Bandar flew to London to lobby the government, Blair had written to the attorney general, Lord Goldsmith, and the SFO was pressed to halt its investigation.

Human Rights Watch has appealed to Saudi Arabia to halt the execution of a woman convicted of witchcraft. In a letter to King Abdullah, the rights group described the trial and conviction of Fawza Falih as a miscarriage of justice.

The illiterate woman was detained by religious police in 2005 and allegedly beaten and forced to fingerprint a confession that she could not read. 

Among her accusers was a man who alleged she made him impotent.

Human Rights Watch said that Ms Falih had exhausted all her chances of appealing against her death sentence and she could only now be saved if King Abdullah intervened...

An appeals court ruled in September 2006 that Fawza could not be sentenced to death for witchcraft as a crime against God, because she had retracted her confession.

After that, the lower court judges re-sentenced her to death on the court's "discretionary" basis, for the benefit of "public interest" and to "protect the creed, souls and property of this country."

In addition to the prohibition on celebrating non-Islamic festivals, the authorities consider Valentine's Day as encouraging relations between men and women outside wedlock - punishable by law in the conservative kingdom.

In American Muslim households, the concept of Valentine’s Day brings about mixed emotions.

"Valentine’s Day is just another day of the year [on] my calendar," says Rida Hamida.

For Hamida, the parent of an elementary school-aged child, celebration of Valentine’s Day is not something she would even consider.

"I teach my son that it has no relevance other than the idea that it is nice to pass out cards with treats to classmates," she says. "Thankfully, for the past two years, I have not dealt with the issue of ‘to pass or not to pass cards’ because he attends an Islamic school."

Rarely has a moral compass been so completely and publicly destroyed by its owner. George W Bush’s presidency has been defined by the moral position he took, under the impetus of 9/11, to repudiate the amoral realpolitik of his predecessors in appeasing and rewarding aggression while ignoring or even punishing its victims. Instead he would hold the aggressor’s feet to the fire and support and promote those who stood for freedom and democracy. Controversial as this doctrine undoubtedly was in the eyes of many in the US and around the world, it was at least consistent — with one niggling exception. On the Israel Arab impasse, Bush veered between making extraordinarily impressive speeches which correctly identified Arab aggression and incitement to hatred of Israel as the core problem to be addressed, and the imposition of the ‘Road Map’ which, by detailing the steps both Israel and the Palestinians had to take, descended into the kind of moral equivalence — and thus negation of the centrality of Arab aggression — which has kept this conflict alive for the past sixty years. At the time, however, it seemed that the Road Map was no more or less than a sop to Tony Blair — who has always failed grievously to grasp that the Palestinians don’t want a state, they want the Jewish state — as a gesture of thanks for his support over Iraq.

With Bush’s visit to the Middle East  this week, however, any such residual excuse is blown away along with the last shreds of his claim to moral integrity< Peace between Israel and the Palestinians, he said blithely, was eminently possible this year. But everything he then said was about pushing Israe to make ‘painful concessions’ rather than the Palestinians. Since the sole obstacle to peace in the Middle East is the Arab rejection of the Jews’ right to their own ancestral home — the fact that Mahmoud Abbas not only has consistently refused to halt the continuing violence against Israel by both Hamas and his own Fatah affiliates, not only has refused to halt the incitement to hatred of Israel perpetrated daily by his own education system and PA controlled media, but has also repeatedly and consistently demanded the right of mass Palestinian immigration to Israel, thus showing his ‘aspiration’ for a Palestinian homeland existing peacefully alongside Israel to be totally bogus as was underlined by his chief negotiator’s recent declaration that the Palestinians would never recognised Israel as a Jewish state — Bush’s position is tantamount to pushing Israel to surrender to an enemy still hell-bent upon Israel’s annihilation.

DENYING MUSLIM VISAS

In a controversial ad that's sending his libertarian fans into orbit, Paul proposes tough new immigration policies, including denying visas to Muslim students from terrorist states.

Paul, a congressman from south Texas, also proposes ending "birthright citizenship," which allows the children of Middle Eastern and other illegal immigrants to stay in America. Such anchor babies now include the offspring of jailed or deported terrorists.

We don't agree with many of Paul's positions, but we're glad to see at least some of the millions he's raising online going to good use. We only hope his ad will spark a debate among GOP front-runners. With the exception of Mike Huckabee, none has picked up on this key national security issue.

Al-Qaida and other terror groups are targeting, grooming and radicalizing Muslim youth on U.S. college campuses. These teenagers are being groomed to be suicide bombers. (One in four college-age Muslims in America support suicide bombings, a Pew poll found.)

A recent NYPD intelligence report warned that terrorists have intensified efforts to recruit college students, and it advised Muslim parents to watch their children. Most susceptible to terrorists' poisonous propaganda are foreign nationals. Many are already radicalized when they arrive on student visas.

According to the Center for Immigration Studies, 22 of the 94 foreign-born nationals convicted or indicted on terror charges from 1993 to 2004 were in the U.S. on student visas. Many were visiting here from Saudi Arabia, one of 34 predominantly Muslim states Homeland Security lists as "countries of interest for terrorism."

Yet in a little-noticed 2005 deal struck between President Bush and Saudi King Abdullah, 21,000 young Saudi men will gain U.S. student visas by 2009. The program is supposed to heal the wound left by the 15 Saudi hijackers by promoting cultural exchange and understanding. Abdullah promises the new wave of Saudi students will be on their best behavior and allay our suspicions.

But that's what he said about Saudi terrorists repatriated from Gitmo who simply rejoined the jihad after he freed them. And how can Abdullah expect us to believe Saudi youth have been cured of their hatred for America when he never cleaned up, as promised, their hateful, anti-Western textbooks?

In reality, the wave of new student visas will simply license the kingdom to propagate more Wahhabism while "unwittingly" exporting more terrorists to our shores. Killing the special Saudi visa program should be on top of the next president's to-do list.

Dissident Saudi Blogger Is Arrested

JIDDAH, Saudi Arabia, Dec. 31 -- Saudi Arabia's most popular blogger, Fouad al-Farhan, has been detained for questioning, an Interior Ministry spokesman confirmed Monday. It was the first known arrest of an online critic in the kingdom.

Farhan, 32, who used his blog to criticize corruption and call for political reform, was detained "for violating rules not related to state security," according to the spokesman, Maj. Gen. Mansour al-Turki, responding to repeated requests for comment with a brief cellphone text message.

Farhan's Dec. 10 arrest was reported last week on the Internet and has been condemned by bloggers in Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and Bahrain. The Saudi news media have not yet reported the arrest, but more than 200 bloggers in the kingdom have criticized Farhan's detention, and a group of supporters have set up a Free Fouad Web site.

Farhan, who was educated in the United States and owns a computer programming company, was arrested at his office in Jiddah and then brought home, where his laptop was confiscated, said his wife, who spoke on condition that her name not be published to protect her privacy. "They arrested him because of his blog. I haven't seen him since. We don't know where he is," she said.

Saudi Arabia, an absolute monarchy that restricts press and speech freedoms, does not allow political parties, civil rights groups or public gatherings. But since King Abdullah took the throne in 2005, official tolerance of criticism and debate has grown.

Even so, Farhan told The Washington Post and others in early December that an Interior Ministry official had warned him that he would be detained because of his online support for a group of men arrested in February and held without charge or trial.

At the time of their arrest, the government accused the Jiddah-based group, made up of a former judge, academics and businessmen, of supporting terrorism. The men's attorney, Bassim Alim, had said they were arrested for their political activism and their plans to form a civil rights group.

Farhan's friends have maintained his blog during his detention and posted on it an e-mail he had written to a friend shortly before his arrest.

Farhan wrote that he was told he would be released if he signed an apology for his activism. "I'm not sure if I'm ready to do that. An apology for what? Apologizing because I said the government lied when they accused those guys of supporting terrorism?"

In October, Farhan visited one of the jailed men and wrote about it on his blog, http://www. alfarhan.org.

He also posted an emotional taped appeal from the mother of one of the men, academic Saud Mokhtar al-Hashemi, and asked readers to call the men's families and offer their support.

"The People Who Supervise This Field [in Saudi Arabia] Summoned Me, Saying I Had a Mission"

Reporter: "This is the most renowned executioner in Saudi Arabia, Abdallah Bin Sa'id Al-Bishi, who carries out the executions. His sword delineates the border between seriousness and play. There is no negotiating with him once the heads have ripened. When it's harvesting time, he is the most suited for the job."

Abdallah Al-Bishi: "I started to work in this field after the death of my father - about a week or 10 days after his death, in 1412 [1991-92]. I was surprised that the people who supervise this field summoned me, saying I had a mission. Allah be praised. Of course, I did not have swords or anything back then, but I used the swords of my father, may he rest in peace, and carried out the execution. My first mission was to execute three people."

Reporter: "Abu Bader's swords have cut off a hundred heads and more. His eldest son, Badr, is training in the same profession. He inherited this profession from his father, Sa'id Al-Bishi. He remembers how, when still a small boy, he accompanied him to the beheading of a criminal in Mecca. That sight, Abu Badr says, was the turning point in his life."

So I came along, and the moment my father executed the man, I ran to see the digestive system, but all I could see was the man's head flying, and where the neck used to be, there was a kind of well. It went down. That's it. I couldn't take it anymore. I woke up in the car on the way home. At night, I tried to go to sleep, but couldn't. I had nightmares, but only once. Then I got used to it, Allah be praised. "

Reporter: "He carries the memory of many events, which naturally could have an effect on people, but one sees that he relates to some of them with humor.

"He denies that the executioner is cruel. He considers himself one of the most compassionate people, and all the stories about him come from rumors."

"This is The Sword I Used on My First Day at Work"

Abdallah Al-Bishi [showing a sword]: "Let's start with 'the Sultan.' I began with this Sultan. This is the sword I used on my first day at work. This is an old sword. This is a 'Jowhar' sword. All my swords are 'Jowhar.' 'Jowhar' are the strongest swords used for beheadings. It is not affected by the number of people beheaded with it. It is made of strong iron, not the kind that breaks or anything.

[Shows another sword] "This sword is also a Jowhar. Every sword, of course, is different in its own way, and is suited for its task. We have a sword - this 'Qaridha,' to be precise - which is used for vertical strokes. This stroke is, of course, different from the horizontal one. The horizontal stroke goes like this [demonstrating]. These are different strokes."

Dr. Turki Al-Atyan, Saudi Interior Ministry psychologist: "The rulings of the shari'a - executions or other punishments decreed by Allah - are carried out by the sword, not by hanging or by gunfire. In the past, gunfire was used, and the victim's guardian was allowed to do the shooting, but out of the fear that possible injustice, Saudi Arabia decided that executions would be carried out by the sword."

First TV host: "As for women, do you feel more compassion than for men? We know you are merely carrying out [the sentence], but what do you feel?"

Abdallah Al-Bishi: "If I felt compassion for the person I was executing, he would suffer. If the heart is compassionate, the hand fails.

FOX NEWS AND THE SAUDIS

Regular FOX news watchers have noticed the increasing Saudi influence at FOX News ever since the French riots of 2005 when after one phone call, FOX newscasters stopped calling the Muslim rioters Muslims. Now it veers away from any real news in the war on Islamic jihad and pursues missing girls, missing blond girls,  missing pregnant girls, missing pregnant blond girls, missing murdered blond girls, missing murdered pregnant girls, and ..... car chases, spousal murders and particularly blond murders (save Fred Barnes and the Beltway Boys and Hume's news hour and E.D. Hill ).

Fox News has long been considered a beacon to those that distrust televised liberal media, meaning every channel other than Fox. One of the indicators of the station’s right-leaning bent is that it has, for the most part, gotten the ‘War on Terrorism’ correct. However, with the undue influence of a Saudi Prince related to militant causes and with this month’s acquisition of Beliefnet, a religious resource website that proudly promotes radical Islam, signs show that the war coverage may soon be taking a turn for the worse.

In September of 2005, Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal purchased 5.46 per cent of Class B voting shares in News Corp, the company that owns Fox News and a number of other media and entertainment entities. This had replaced the three per cent stake in Class A non-voting shares bin Talal had previously held through his investment corporation, Kingdom Holding Company (KHC).

With his newfound voting rights, bin Talal stated his intention of supporting Rupert Murdoch, the principal owner of News Corp, helping Murdoch to stay in power and avoid hostile takeover by other interested investors. Some have said that this was like making a deal with the devil, as Murdoch has been left vulnerable to the whims of an individual that has been involved in despicable causes.

In April of 2002, bin Talal had donated $27 million during a Saudi telethon that was raising money for the families of suicide bombers. As well, he had given $500,000 to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) to be used towards the distribution and propagation of a set of Islamist books for American libraries. The set included Jamal Badawi’s Gender Equity in Islam, which sanctions the beating of women by their husbands, and a version of the Quran, Abdullah Yusuf Ali’s The Meaning of THE HOLY QURAN, which has been banned by the Los Angeles school system.

Utilizing his position of power within Fox News (today, he is the second largest shareholder), bin Talal has worked to influence programming at the station.

But Abdullah's last minute invitation to Ahmadinejad, and his public cozying up to the Iranian at a moment when Iran threatens to replace Saudi Arabia as the new hegemon in the Middle East could be the latest signal of how terrified the Sunni Arab establishment is - and the Gulf states in particular are, of Iran's rising power. It is also seems a graphic indication of Saudi and "Gulfie" nervousness over their perception of America's growing weakness and loss of political will opposite Teheran.

On the face of it, Ahmadinejad's key note address - the first for any Iranian leader to the Sunni Gulf Cooperation Council - that included Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman seems counter intuitive.

Wasn't the GCC created to offset the very threatening Iranian regional influence it now appears the Gulf States are ready to honor? In fact, as the Washington Institute's Simon Henderson points out in a December 7 analysis, the UAE set a precedent in November by impounding an Iranian-bound shipment of undisclosed material banned by UN Security Council Resolutions 1737 and 1747 because of its potential use for nuclear weapons or missile programs. The Washington Institute brief also notes that Bahrain's crown prince for the first time openly accused Iran in a recent interview of seeking nuclear weapons.

And didn't the same Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and other Gulfies send senior officials to Washington's Annapolis conference two weeks ago, to show the Iranians that the US could lead a coalition of Arab Sunni states to Isolate Teheran's Islamo-fascist mullocracy?

So how can what looked like the beginning of a kiss and make up session last week between Iran's Ahmadinejad and Iran's Sunni Gulf rivals be understood?

FOR STARTERS It was little coincidence that the Abdullah-Ahmadinejad photo op took place on the same day and virtually in tandem with the release of the US National Intelligence Estimate. 

Arab leaders don't believe that for a minute. Middle East scholar and Council on foreign Relations fellow Max Boot noted in a Wall Street Journal article this week that a senior Arab official warned him during a recent trip to the Gulf that "accepting Ahmadinejad with nuclear weapons is like accepting Hitler in 1933." Broad Arab participation at the Annapolis conference exemplified their heightened fears.

Now, for Arab Sunni Gulf States who are worried about Iran's ascendancy under a nuclear umbrella, the National Intelligence Estimate underscores growing confusion, disunity and discord in Washington.

While former UN ambassador John Bolton blasted the report as "politics masquerading as intelligence," to worried Arab leaders, the apparent lack of US unity and purpose opposite Iran spells weakness and a lack of political will. Some leading Islamic affairs experts inside and outside the Beltway have been issuing this warning for some time.

IRAN, MEANWHILE, continues to charge ahead with its atomic weapons plans while destabilizing the region via proxy terror groups in Iraq, in Lebanon via Hizbullah, via Hamas, and Palestinian Islamic jihad in Gaza, all the while promising to liquidate Israel, the US's key Middle East ally.

So despite palpable Arab fears of Iran - particularly a nuclear one - as Jordan's King Abdullah II first publicly expressed in 2004 when he coined the term "the Shi'ite crescent" - to refer to Iran's arc of control, Professor Bernard Lewis, the world's leading scholar on Islam and the Near East, has long reminded the West that Arab political culture runs with the winning horse.

THIS IS the also the context in which the recent US hosted Annapolis conference should be considered. Instead of pressing for victory against Iran, Bush's summoning much of the international community to Washington to advance Palestinian-Israeli peace and to send a message to Iran was likely perceived somewhat differently in the Middle East.

In the context of Lewis's "winning horse" analogy, Bush in the Arab and Persian mind may have appeared more like the school weakling who needed to turn to the rest of the class to back him opposite the class bully, in this case the 120 pound Ahmadinejad.

So with the US National Intelligence Estimate weakening US diplomatic efforts to mobilize the international community against Teheran, Arab states prefer to mingle with Iranian power rather than risk American uncertainty.

Saudis Release 1,500 Suspected Extremists

Saudi Arabia has released 1,500 prisoners suspected of belonging to a radical Islamic group after the prisoners underwent what was described as a five-week counseling program, according to Middle Eastern newspapers.

Critics of the prisoner reform program worry it does nothing to seriously combat Islamic radicalism and releases dangerous extremists back into society.

"This is the sort of failure to recognize the threat and deal with it seriously that has characterized the Saudis for years," said former White House counterterrorism chief Richard Clarke, an ABC News consultant.

The released prisoners are described as followers of the rigid Takfir ideology and considered by many U.S. intelligence officials to be prime recruiting material for al Qaeda groups.

According to a Saudi newspaper, the Takfir group calls for establishing an Islamic state, kicking non-Muslims out of the Arabian Peninsula and considers other Muslim leaders, scholars and the general Muslim public disbelievers.

The Saudi newspaper, Al-Watan, publicized the massive prisoner release on Sunday, saying the Saudi Ministry of Interior spearheaded the effort in 2005 by holding 5,000 meetings with about 3,200 suspected Takfir members. The New York Sun first reported the development in the United States.

Where is a voice from the gay community? One of the rape victims sentenced to be flogged is a male. The Saudi government wallows in its own hypocrisy in failing to charge any of the perpetrators with the gang rape of the male abductee. Homosexuality in Saudi Arabia is punishable by death. [3]

Saudi Arabia has condemned Western interference in the case of a rape victim who was sentenced to 200 lashes and six months in prison.

The Saudi Justice Ministry today confirmed that the flogging sentence would be carried out after the 19-year-old admitted to cheating on her husband in violation of Islamic laws.

The case sparked an international outcry after a Saudi court sentenced the girl to 90 lashes and a prison-term because she was in a car with a man who was not a close relative.

When her husband then publicly criticised the judicial system, an appeals court judge increased the sentence to 200 lashes.

Her offence was in meeting a former boyfriend, whom she had asked to return pictures he had of her because she was about to marry another man.

The couple was sitting in a car when a group of seven Sunni men kidnapped them and raped them both, lawyers in the case told Arab News. The former boyfriend was also sentenced to 90 lashes for being with her in private.

A review of the sentence was ordered after condemnation from the international community and human rights groups.

However the Saudi Justice Ministry today maintained that the ruling was legal and followed the "the book of God and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad".

The Justice Ministry's account of the incident differed substantially from that given by the woman and her lawyer.

It largely glossed over her rape, focusing instead on her plan to meet her lover in his car "in a dark place where they stayed for a while".

A court in the ultra-conservative kingdom of Saudi Arabia is punishing a female victim of gang rape with 200 lashes and six months in jail, a newspaper reported on Thursday. The 19-year-old woman -- whose six armed attackers have been sentenced to jail terms -- was initially ordered to undergo 90 lashes for "being in the car of an unrelated male at the time of the rape," the Arab News reported.

But in a new verdict issued after Saudi Arabia's Higher Judicial Council ordered a retrial, the court in the eastern town of Al-Qatif more than doubled the number of lashes to 200....

Mara adds , "Turns out, it's a Sunni/Shi'ite thing.  The woman in question is a Shi'ite, so she's being punished for not adhering to wahhabist law - that she cannot travel in the car with a male non-relative, and also for attempting to get media attention.  And of course the only thing that will happen is that no woman in her right mind will ever be tempted to report a rape again, if this is what she will be made to suffer."

King Abdullah II of Saudi Arabia was greeted by jeers and placards as he began his state visit to Britain this afternoon as dozens of demonstrators turned out to protest at his country's human rights record.

About 50 human rights protestors and anti-arms trade activists mingled with the crowds lining The Mall as the monarch accompanied the Queen in a carriage on their way to Buckingham Palace.

King Abdullah’s visit has been shrouded in controversy over oppressive policies against women and gays in the Middle Eastern kingdom and the war on terror.

Protesters, including Peter Tatchell, the gay rights activist, chanted "King Abdullah, torturer, murderer" and held banners marked “Put human rights before BAe profits” and “You can’t do this in Riyadh” as the procession went past.

Notice that this is not an isolated incident; it is part of a sustained, ongoing effort with the explicit goal of surrendering half a billion Europeans to Islam.

The Euro-Arab Dialogue, which this is a part of, was established in the 1970s and is rapidly progressing towards the goal of merging Europe with the Arab world. The European Union is thus formally negotiating the surrender of an entire continent, without asking their peoples about it and without even mentioning this in the major media. It is one of the greatest betrayals ever recorded in the history of Western civilization. The EU is quite simply an evil and criminal organization which must be dismantled as soon as humanly possible. SAUDIS SUE FOR SECRECY RACHEL EHRENFELD NY Post hat tip Jan

August 8, 2007 -- THE Saudis' efforts to keep a veil of secrecy over their sup port for al Qaeda and Hamas got a shot in the arm last week, as a British publisher opted to suppress a controversial book on the financing of terror.

Facing the mere threat of a lawsuit from Saudi billionaire Khalid bin Mahfouz, Cambridge University Press agreed to pulp all the unsold copies of "Alms of Jihad: Charity and Terrorism in the Islamic World," issue a public apology to Mahfouz and pay his legal expenses and substantial undisclosed damages.

The prestigious publisher - the world's oldest publishing house - had carefully vetted the book before publishing it last year. Yet now it has asked more than 200 libraries worldwide to pull the work off their shelves.

Bin Mahfouz never sued the authors, J. Millard Burr and Robert O. Collins, both U.S. citizens, who had provided their publisher with all the sources to back their allegations that bin Mahfouz, his family and his former bank, the National Commercial Bank of Saudi Arabia, funded Hamas and al Qaeda. Yet Cambridge University Press still caved - and even asked the authors to join its apology to bin Mahfouz. (They rightly refused.)

Since March 2002, bin Mahfouz has sued or threatened suit in England at least 36 times against those who've linked him to terrorism, including many American authors and publications. Everyone settled with bin Mahfouz - except me.

He sued me in London in January 2004, shortly after my book "Funding Evil: How Terrorism is Financed - and How to Stop It" was published in the United States. I refused to acknowledge a British court's jurisdiction over a book published here; the court then ruled in bin Mahfouz's favor by default. It enjoined British publication of "Funding Evil," awarded bin Mahfouz $225,900 in damages and expenses and ordered that I publicly apologize and destroy the book. I still refuse to acknowledge the British Court and its ruling.

The data in both "Alms for Jihad" and "Funding Evil" is all well-documented by the media and the U.S. Congress, courts, Treasury Department and other official statements. Further corroboration comes from French intelligence officials at the General Directorate of External Security (DGSE), as reported in the French daily, Le Monde. For example, the DGSE reported that, in 1998, it knew bin Mahfouz to be an architect of the banking scheme built to benefit Osama bin Laden, and that both U.S. and British intelligence services knew it, too.

How will we lose the war against "radical Islam"?

Well, it won't be in a tank battle. Or in the Sunni Triangle or the caves of Bora Bora. It won't be because terrorists fly three jets into the Oval Office, Buckingham Palace and the Basilica of St Peter's on the same Tuesday morning.

The war will be lost incrementally because we are unable to reverse the ongoing radicalization of Muslim populations in South Asia, Indonesia, the Balkans, Western Europe and, yes, North America. And who's behind that radicalization? Who funds the mosques and Islamic centers that in the past 30 years have set up shop on just about every Main Street around the planet?

For the answer, let us turn to a fascinating book called "Alms for Jihad: Charity And Terrorism in the Islamic World," by J. Millard Burr, a former USAID relief coordinator, and the scholar Robert O Collins. Can't find it in your local Barnes & Noble? Never mind, let's go to Amazon. Everything's available there. And sure enough, you'll come through to the "Alms for Jihad" page and find a smattering of approving reviews from respectably torpid publications: "The most comprehensive look at the web of Islamic charities that have financed conflicts all around the world," according to Canada's Globe And Mail, which is like the New York Times but without the jokes.

Unfortunately, if you then try to buy "Alms for Jihad," you discover that the book is "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock." Hang on, it was only published last year. At Amazon, items are either shipped within 24 hours or, if a little more specialized, within four to six weeks, but not many books from 2006 are entirely unavailable with no restock in sight.

Well, let us cross the ocean, thousands of miles from the Amazon warehouse, to the High Court in London. Last week, the Cambridge University Press agreed to recall all unsold copies of "Alms for Jihad" and pulp them. In addition, it has asked hundreds of libraries around the world to remove the volume from their shelves. This highly unusual action was accompanied by a letter to Sheikh Khalid bin Mahfouz, in care of his English lawyers, explaining their reasons:

"Throughout the book there are serious and defamatory allegations about yourself and your family, alleging support for terrorism through your businesses, family and charities, and directly.

"As a result of what we now know, we accept and acknowledge that all of those allegations about you and your family, businesses and charities are entirely and manifestly false."

Who is Sheikh Khalid bin Mahfouz? Well, he's a very wealthy and influential Saudi. Big deal, you say. Is there any other kind? Yes, but even by the standards of very wealthy and influential Saudis, this guy is plugged in: He was the personal banker to the Saudi royal family and head of the National Commercial Bank of Saudi Arabia, until he sold it to the Saudi government. He has a swanky pad in London and an Irish passport and multiple U.S. business connections, including to Thomas Kean, the chairman of the 9/11 Commission.

I'm not saying the 9/11 Commission is a Saudi shell operation, merely making the observation that, whenever you come across a big-shot Saudi, it's considerably less than six degrees of separation between him and the most respectable pillars of the American establishment.

In October 2001, the Treasury Department named Muwafaq as "an al-Qaida front that receives funding from wealthy Saudi businessmen" and its chairman as a "specially designated global terrorist." As the Treasury concluded, "Saudi businessmen have been transferring millions of dollars to bin Laden through Blessed Relief."

Indeed, this "charity" seems to have no other purpose than to fund jihad. It seeds Islamism wherever it operates. In Chechnya, it helped transform a reasonably conventional nationalist struggle into an outpost of the jihad. In the Balkans, it played a key role in replacing a traditionally moderate Islam with a form of Mitteleuropean Wahhabism. Pick a Muwafaq branch office almost anywhere on the planet and you get an interesting glimpse of the typical Saudi charity worker. The former head of its mission in Zagreb, Croatia, for example, is a guy called Ayadi Chafiq bin Muhammad. Well, he's called that most of the time. But he has at least four aliases and residences in at least three nations (Germany, Austria and Belgium). He was named as a bin Laden financier by the U.S. government and disappeared from the United Kingdom shortly after 9/11.

So why would the Cambridge University Press, one of the most respected publishers on the planet, absolve Khalid bin Mahfouz, his family, his businesses and his charities to a degree that neither (to pluck at random) the U.S., French, Albanian, Swiss and Pakistani governments would be prepared to do?

Because English libel law overwhelmingly favors the plaintiff. And like many other big-shot Saudis, Sheikh Mahfouz has become very adept at using foreign courts to silence American authors – in effect, using distant jurisdictions to nullify the First Amendment. He may be a wronged man, but his use of what the British call "libel chill" is designed not to vindicate his good name but to shut down the discussion, which is why Cambridge University Press made no serious attempt to mount a defense. He's one of the richest men on the planet, and they're an academic publisher with very small profit margins. But, even if you've got a bestseller, your pockets are unlikely to be deep enough: "House Of Saud, House Of Bush" did boffo biz with the anti-Bush crowd in America, but there's no British edition – because Sheikh Mahfouz had indicated he was prepared to spend what it takes to challenge it in court, and Random House decided it wasn't worth it.

UPDATE: CSHW wrote in the comments, " truth is not a defense against libel in the UK. Hence, the thing to do may be for authors to avoid UK publishers and publish in the USA first. This is because a book found libelous when its first publication is in the UK is considered libelous here, however when first published in the USA and found not libelous, it can be published in the USA even if a UK court later finds it libelous. Now go ask an intellectual property lawyer on this one. Apparently, this nonreciprocity is in some trade agreement. chsw (not a lawyer)"

Her publisher cancelled her contract after the Pope was badly treated...an American publisher who specializes in law enforcement and counter-terrorism titles. Looseleaf Law Press. And I have been unable to find a publisher for a collection of my pieces titled "The Islamification of America." Now I wonder why.....

Yes, the internet is our samizdat outlet in this new kind of Gulag but it does not have the cachet and does not open the same doors that mainstream publishers and media do.

U.K. libel laws and courts have been among Saudi Arabia’s most successful tools to veil its Islamic proselytization and terrorist funding. The Saudi operator is billionaire Khalid Bin Mahfouz, who has sued or threatened to sue some 36 U.S. and U.K. publishers and authors and was given default judgments in all of them.

But there is a new fly in bin Mahfouz’ Saudi ointment—an U.S. legal precedent established by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals on June 8, 2007. In 2003, U.S. investigative reporter and director of the American Center for Democracy, Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld, published Funding Evil: How Terrorism is Financed--and How to Stop It.

Among other things, Funding Evil reported bin Mahfouz’ well-documented terror funding. As always after such reports, bin Mahfouz sued Ehrenfeld for libel in Britain. In the High Court, bin Mahfouz’ attorneys informed Justice David Eady that former CIA director R. James Woolsey had written the foreword for Funding Evil. “Say no more,” declared Eady. “I award you a judgment by default, and if you want, an injunction, too.”

[Dhimmi -] Justice Eady then ordered Ehrenfeld to apologize, retract, pay bin Mahfouz $225,913.37 in damages and destroy copies of her book.

A fearless U.S. citizen, published in the U.S., Ehrenfeld ignored the British default judgement. Rather than respond to false claims of libel, never tried on their merits, Ehrenfeld applied to the Southern District Court of New York to rule the U.K. court judgment unenforceable in the U.S.

War On Terror: Washington is brokering an arms deal for Saudi Arabia while shipping prized F-16s to Pakistan. Are we getting anything from these "allies" other than empty promises — and possibly betrayal?

First the Saudis. At the behest of King Abdullah, the administration is preparing to ask Congress to OK an arms sale package totaling some $20 billion over the next decade. Yet it was Abdullah who just four months ago criticized the U.S. military presence in Iraq as "illegitimate," shocking officials who assumed he was cooperating in our efforts there.

The Baker report on Iraq found that "funding for the Sunni insurgency comes from private individuals within Saudi Arabia." And 61% of the suicide bombers in Iraq reportedly are Saudi nationals.

The Bush administration has decided to supply billions of dollars in advanced new weapons to Saudi Arabia , other Arab allies of the United States and to other Arab allies of the United States and to Israel , senior State Department officials and congressional aides said Friday

The arms and aid package, which the officials said is to be announced on Monday, is part of a U.S. initiative to reassure worried allies in the Middle East that despite its troubles in Iraq , the United States remains committed to the region. It also is meant to send a signal of resolve to Iran's increasingly confident leaders.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates leave for the Middle East on Monday on a rare joint mission to deliver those messages in person to the region's leaders.

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the package has not yet been announced, said it would include selling Saudi Arabia advanced weapons known as Joint Direct Attack Munitions, or JDAMs. JDAMs convert simple gravity bombs into accurate "smart" weapons.

Israel protested the proposed sale when word of it first leaked in April.

The package also will include new weapons for the United Arab Emirates , another U.S. ally in the Persian Gulf, and both military and economic support to Egypt . [No port deal but plenty of arms- makes sense - Atlas] Other details of the proposed arms sales weren't immediately available Friday.

Dr. History added, " While the US might sell Israel F-22s, it has announced it plans to double the size of the Saudi and UAE airforces, selling everything to them –even perhaps F-22s. The Saudi airforce will thus be on par with Israel – or better. Additionally with 250 Su-30s from Russia to Iran – if as is usually the case (based on previous history) the Arabs and Iranians will COMBINE forces against the “Zionist entity” Israel will be OVERWHELMED!
