CNN Still Spreading Blood Libel

CNN: Palestinians: Israelis kill 7 on Gaza beach when in fact Probe: Hamas Bomb, Not IDF Shell, Caused Gaza Deaths

PA TV falsified Mohammed Al Dura

Palestinian Media Watch said that ''the Palestinian Authority television has repeatedly broadcast a falsified video of the events linked to the death of seven members of a Palestinian family on a Gaza beach, the 9 June. (Guysen.News)

In order to make the Israeli Navy responsible for these deaths, this Television has interposed video images of an Israeli ship firing towards Gaza earlier in the day between scenes of the dead, creating the impression that Israel was responsible for these deaths. The scene filmed by the Palestinians on the beach rules out the hypothesis of an Israeli missile, because an Israeli missile would have made a giant crater and spread sand on the sea and the victims. There is no crater in the scenes from the Palestinian TV.

Read it all here. I reported this back on Friday. Friday, the 9th. CNN, terror tool.

Fallaci on Trial for Speaking Truth to Power

In an extraordinary case of European dhimmitude, the trial of Goddess Fallaci for 'defamingFallaci Islam' started yesterday. The Jawa Report has the best coverage here. Read it all, I insist. I saw Fallaci at her last lecture here, read that too.

I predict that the only sound you'll hear coming from the left is deafening silence. The left abandoned true free speech some time ago. A pity, really. There was a time when even the most despicable communist or child molester could count on help from the ACLU to defend his rights.

Atlas VLOGS the UN, Gaza, Fat Bloggers

A quick vlog cause I have to run and someone (other than Bolton) has to set the clerk Brown straight.

Uh oh, who is going to tell Malloch this?

Great Rushhhhhhhh on Mallach

Rules? In a Knife Fight? Classic Vanderleun

The truth of the matter is that far too many Americans are becoming far too interested in our troops behaving correctly than actually supporting and sustaining them. They blather support out of one orifice while spewing disdain from the other. We hear these clapped-out flatulators daily at work, on the street, and over the tube of the boobs. I don't know about you, but for me these hyperventilating hypocrites are beginning to gripe my hindquarters big time.

The question of "should we be fighting" has long since been answered. Election or no election, Bush or AntiBush, we are in this war and we will be staying in it. If we don't go to it, it will come to us or to a Canada nearby. I hear all these psychotic babblers saying that they are only interested in finding peace through justice. The facts on the ground, as we saw in peace-promoting Canada this month, is that this war is only interested in peace through death.

But if a soldier of America has the will to pursue killers and cowards into the chaotic labyrinth of a Baghdad slum where friend, foe, and neutral are all of the same make and model, where is the will of the Americans that soldier is sworn to protect and serve when it comes to unqualified support; support without the weasel word "but?" If an American soldier can muster the will to drive down a road in Afghanistan where his comrades were killed in the last month, surely there is no excuse for an American citizen, secure for five years in his fat and happy world, to muster the will to support that soldier in deed and in word with no qualifications.

hoo ah! Oh yeah, it gets better.

UPDATE: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Ehud Olmert's daughter (after the rant on Ehud's wife on the VLOG.) You can't say I didn't warn you here:

JERUSLAEM - Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's daughter this weekend took part in a demonstration against the Jewish state in which Israeli leaders were termed "killers" and calls were made for the Palestinian Arab intifada - or terror war - to prevail.

The demonstration took place outside the Tel Aviv house of Israeli Defense Forces chief of staff Dan Halutz following an explosion this weekend on a northern Gaza Strip beach that reportedly killed seven Palestinian Arabs and wounded more than 40.

At first, the IDF was blamed widely for the Gaza beach explosion. The army routinely fires artillery shells at empty areas in northern Gaza in response to the regular launching of Qassam rockets by terrorists from the area aimed at nearby Jewish communities. Full story here  (hat tip Dr. Nancy)

Kofi Jumps the Jew hating Shark

Once again we can count on Kofi Annan to pounce on the latest Jew hating device to alienate Israel from the rest of the world while empowering savages, murderers --  in other words like-minded kindred Kofi anti-spirits. And jump on it he did, even though the ruse was exposed almost immediately.

The secretary-general of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, was "deeply disturbed," he said in an official statement on Friday, at the killing of women and children picnicking on a Gaza beach, committed "reportedly by Israeli forces."

Eyeless in Gaza, Mr. Annan carelessly relies on heart-wrenching press photographsFlying_monkeys juxtaposing Israeli shelling with a child crying over her dead mother's body. Israel, meanwhile, fears inflaming the region where myths about the supposed Jewish thirst for innocent Arab blood quickly translates into a war cry for billions of Muslims around the world. More here

This story was suspect from the first. I revealed to all the malevolent, diabolical charade that the Jew killers were perpetrating back on Friday here. But let's be honest, does Kofi care if it's a lie. No way. Kofi reports to these savages. He pays the jiyza. He and his flying monkeys.

Iran Accused of Hiding Secret Nuclear Weapons Site -
Fresh evidence has emerged that Iran is working on a secret military project to develop nuclear weapons that has not been declared to UN inspectors, at a secret military base outside Teheran. The project is codenamed Zirzamin 27, and its purpose is to enable the Iranians to undertake uranium enrichment to military standard. The Zirzamin 27 operation is thought to be being supervised by Iran's Revolutionary Guards under the direction of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the head of Iran's Modern Defensive Readiness and Technology Center, a top-secret military research site. A most revealing slip of the tongue

Terror in Queens, NY, USA

Wake-up call editorial from The New York Post - The Fifth Column. The Post may have been referring to home grown terror but if you read carefully, it's the terror enablers (the media, leftists,  Muslim advocacy groups) we really have to beware of;

"He had a really good heart," an official from an Islamic center in Jamaica said. "He cared about people."

Well, apparently not his fellow Americans. Hashmi was indicted for conspiring to send money and military gear to al Qaeda terrorists in Afghanistan to use against U.S. troops. (Some "good heart.")

And he wasn't even the first former Queens kid to be charged with helping al Qaeda. Muhammad Junaid Babar, an associate of Hashmi, has pleaded guilty to terror-linked charges.

But Babar stated openly that he considered himself Muslim first, American second. And that, in fact, he sided with the Taliban against the United States.

"I'm willing to kill Americans," he said.

And how does the fifth column, The New York Times and syncophants, CAIR, et al react to such news?

Meanwhile, news reports of busted terror plots always seem to include someone excusing the plotters, doubting the story or questioning the tactics of law-enforcement agents.

When Shahawar Matin Siraj, a Pakistani immigrant, was convicted last month of plotting to bomb the Herald Square subway station, The New York Times ran long reports on the NYPD's intensive surveillance of the Muslim community.

Which only serves to propel the enablers into action.           CAIR-LA: FBI Tries to Reassure Muslims

All of which only helps feed a sense of isolation, victimization and resentment among American Muslim youth.

Add to that the lure of waging a valiant jihad against Western "oppressors." And the Islamic-supremacist brainwashing by Saudi-funded madrasas, mosques and cultural centers. Pretty soon, it's easy to imagine numerous cells, like the Al Muhajiroun group that Hashmi and Babar belonged to, festering throughout the nation?

Hashmi's pals, who call themselves the Islamic Thinkers, set up a sidewalk table each week and display anti-U.S. material. They're also fond of defacing the American flag in public, in hopes of provoking a confrontation (and occasionally succeeding).

The Legacy of Jihad: Islamic Holy War and the Fate of Non-Muslims

Andrew Bostom discusses the history of Islamic fundamentalism throughout the Middle East, a subject he takes up in his new book, "The Legacy of Jihad." Dr. Bostom also talks about the treatment of non-Muslims living in Islamic countries, the threat to Israel posed by fundamentalists in the region, and the war on terror.

Just How Far Did They Go, Those Words Against Israel?
New York Times

Did President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran callIsrael to be wiped off the map? And if so, was it a threat of war?

No it means lets make love you fcking maroooooons. Who reads this insanity? It is irrational.

"Ahmadinejad did not say he was going to wipe Israel off the map because no such idiom exists in Persian," remarked Juan Cole, a Middle East specialist at the University of Michigan and critic of American policy who has argued that the Iranian president was misquoted. "He did say he hoped its regime, i.e., a Jewish-Zionist state occupying Jerusalem, would collapse." [translation: wipe Israel off the map, d'oh - Atlas]

Ischabibble, ischabobble.

"The Iranian president was quoting an ancient statement by Iran's first Islamist leader, the late Ayatollah Khomeini, that 'this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time,' just as the Shah's regime in Iran had vanished.

Hmmm, could it be this statement of Ayatollah Khomeini that this evil mouthpiece is quoting? Read; more about the Ayatollah's bookat LGFAyatollah Khomeini, Circa 1942: RoPMA,

From the book Anti-American Terrorism and the Middle East (a collection of source documents and statements from key militant Islamic figures), the late unlamented Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini (subject of a recent gushing photographic tribute at the BBC) answers the question, “Is Islam a religion of peace?”

Islam is Not a Religion of Pacifists
Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, 1942

Iran_cuba_venezuela_2

Islam’s jihad is a struggle against idolatry, sexual deviation, plunder, repression, and cruelty. The war waged by [non-Islamic] conquerors, however, aims at promoting lust and animal pleasures. They care not if whole countries are wiped out and many families left homeless. But those who study jihad will understand why Islam wants to conquer the whole world. All the countries conquered by Islam or to be conquered in the future will be marked for everlasting salvation. For they shall live under [God’s law]. ...

Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war. Those [who say this] are witless. Islam says: Kill all the unbelievers just as they would kill you all! Does that mean that Muslim should sit back until they are devoured by [the unbelievers]? Islam says: Kill the [the non-Muslims], put them to the sword and scatter [their armies]. Does this mean sitting back until [non-Muslims] overcome us? Islam says: Kill in the service of Allah those who may want to kill you! Does this mean that we should surrender [to the enemy]? Islam says: Whatever good there is exists thanks to the sword and in the shadow of the sword! People cannot be made obedient except with the sword! The sword is the key to paradise, which can be opened only for holy warriors!

There are hundreds of other [Koranic] psalms and hadiths [sayings of the prophet] urging Muslims to value war and to fight. Does all that mean that Islam is a religion that prevents men from waging war? I spit upon those foolish souls who make such a claim.

It gets sicker and sicker. Check out this logic.

Mr. Steele added that neither Khomeini nor Mr. Ahmadinejad suggested that Israel's "vanishing" was imminent or that Iran would be involved in bringing it about. "But the propaganda damage was done," he wrote, "and Western hawks bracket the Iranian president with Hitler as though he wants to exterminate Jews."

If Mr. Steele and Mr. Cole [yes that's the nototrious Juan Cole. It's always the same usual suspects - isn't it? -- Atlas] are right, not one word of the quotation — Israel shouldIran_death_us_israel_14 be wiped off the map — is accurate.

Huh? The craven little nazi midget is standing in from of a ginormous poster saying a world without Zionism and a graphic showing a broken America on the ground with Israel soon to follow.

The second translation issue concerns the word "map." Khomeini's words were abstract: "Sahneh roozgar." Sahneh means scene or stage, and roozgar means time. The phrase was widely interpreted as "map," and for years, no one objected.

It reads like an unpublished work of Beckett.

The final translation issue is Mr. Ahmadinejad's use of "occupying regime of Jerusalem" rather than "Israel."

Huh? Pure garbage, the finest crap you can buy. The Sunday New York Times *SPIT*

So did Iran's president call for Israel to be wiped off the map? It certainly seems so. Did that amount to a call for war? That remains an open question.

Oh I get it now, 2 + 2 = 5

Muslim Madness Alert: Beef up Ayaan Hirsi Ali's security. Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Reaction to Hirsi Ali's Gay Movie

The Dutch authorities fear that “Submission 2,” Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s soon to be released new movie, might make the Netherlands a target of angry Muslims worldwide. The movie criticizes Muslims for their intolerance of gays. In a report published last Wednesday the country’s National Anti-Terrorism Coordinator (Nationaal Coördinator Terrorismebestrijding, NCTb) warns that one must seriously take into account the possibility of an international Muslim boycott of the Netherlands, similar to the boycott of Denmark by the Islamic world earlier this year over the Muhammad cartoons.

And while Chesler is a  huge proponent of freeing women of the brutality of Islamic life, she advised them not to go because she feared for their lives. Of course, they went away (and were beaten

Al-Durah? Jenin? More Blood Libel

*SCROLL* FOR UPDATES  - Breaking news
The Palestinians eat their own. There is a diabolical complicity between the Jew hating media and the savages that would wipe the Jews off the map. What set off the second intifada ? Al-Dura. The moment that plunged Israel into a sea of shit was a staged event. And the French media knew it. And who could forget the farce of Jenin? The irony of Jenin was how the Israelis took more military causalities because they would not employ air cover  so that there would be less Pali civilian deaths (is there such a thing as a Pali civilian? Oh yeah the 4% that voted against terror. )
Aldura_lieJudith at HNN has an eye opening account of what really happened to the Pali family here

GAZA BEACH CARNAGE FOOTAGE STAGED?

A terrible tragedy happened on the Gaza beach. Shells exploded and killed 9 men, women and children and injured others. Heartbreaking.

Israel is investigating. But Mark Regev, the Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman who said that Israel believes such shelling of civilians to be unacceptable also told the BBC that naval or air shelling have been ruled out. Other possibilities are explored. In the meantime Hamas vows to end the unilateral cease fire with Israel.

But, please, watch this BBC report and tell me what were the cameramen doing on the beach at the moment the shell hit? CNN has the exact same footage.

Are we once again dealing with a Jenin/al Dura style staged recreation?

The BBC also features an eyewitness by a jounalist named Sami Yousef who just happened to be on the beach during the shelling. He ends his account thus:

I've heard people in the last few hours calling for revenge. If an attack happens inside Israel it will make them a little bit happy. It might also make them reject the referendum planned by [Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud] Abbas. Do I smell a Hamas member exploiting an opportunity (with BBC acquiescence) or is it something more sinister?

So what have we here? Another evil staging to incite and drive those thirsty for Jewish blood. Is this "incident" the deliberate precursor to a world of pain?

Hamas Ends 'Truce' With Israel; Threatens New Violence

The militant group Hamas has declared an end to its informal ceasefire with Israel and has vowed to increase the level of bloodshed in the region after the death of seven Palestinian civilians taking a beachside picnic on the Gaza Strip Friday.

UPDATE: SHOCKA! Palis refuse to cooperate with investigation here. Transparancy fellas, c'mon now, we is on to you.

IDF sources say Palestinians have not disclosed information regarding exact location, time of explosion that killed seven civilians on north Gaza beach; ‘this makes it very difficult to form clear picture of what happened,’

IDF sources said Saturday that the Palestinians are not cooperating in the investigation of the Gaza beach incident , during which seven civilians were killed. (hat tip tagrafiti)

UPDATE: More and more the truth emerges. Savages.

IDF: Palestinians may have caused blast

As the IDF continued its investigation into the cause of the explosion that killed seven Palestinians on a Gaza beach on Friday, with the initial assumption being that an errant artillery shell was to blame, Defense Minister Amir Peretz said Saturday night that it was possible the blast was an "internal Palestinian incident." IDF officers said that an "internal Palestinian incident" referred to the possibility that terrorists had fired a Kassam rocket which went off target and hit the crowded Gaza beach between Sudaniya and Beit Lahiya. (hat tip AB)

UPDATE: Augean Stables is working this story here: Pallywood on Gaza Beach

I’ve now seen the footage of the BBC, Al Jazeera, and CNN. It bears all the marks of Pallywood:
Palestinian contribution: no blood, bad child actors (it takes the girl two tries to throw herself on her father, no signs of damage or crater, hospital chaos with men in doctors’ coats accusing Israel, played over and over again on TV, use of rhetoric of genocide against Israel.
Western media contribution: cutting to make it more believable (take out the girl throwing herself on the sand beside her “father” before “finding him”), cut from action piece to action piece so the audience doesn’t have the time to develop suspicions, accept the Palestinian version (Israeli shells) as reliable (without even presenting it as the Palestinian claim).

[...] In other words, once again, a scene that bears many marks of staging, will drive Palestinians to self-destructive choices, while the Western media, in the unprofessional credulity, lend credibility to the unlikely and poisonous footage. Let’s hope this time they’re smarter than they were in 2000. Read it all

UPDATE: Sunday morining 4:30 am:

Brig_genreal_aviv_kochavi Saturday night, Brigade General Aviv Kochavi did not rule out the possibility that the missile that caused the death of seven Palestinian civilians was a Palestinian missile. He said that according to the initial findings of the inquiry there is information that supports this hypothesis. Translated from the French Guysen here.

Following the death of seven Palestinian civilians on a Gaza beach, last Friday, 19 Kassam rockets have been fired towards Israel. IDF officials however have decided to freeze artillery fire until the end of the inquiry. (Guysen.Israכl.News) Chief of Staff, General Dan Halutz, appointed General Meir Kalifi to the head of the team which will examine the circumstances of this incident. He has until Wednesday 13 June to present his conclusions.

UPDATE: More from Honest Reporting here;

[...] despite suggestions that a single artillery shell was responsible, the Guardian claimed: "a barrage of Israeli artillery shells rained down on a busy Gaza beach...", while the Independent, without waiting for confirmation or otherwise, attributed the incident to "Israeli naval gunboats".

In fact, while the most likely explanation is a single stray artillery shell, the possibility of a Qassam missile fired from Gaza itself has not yet been discounted and has been made more difficult to ascertain due to Palestinian refusals to cooperate with Israeli investigators.

As emotions run high, it is likely that Israel will come in for heavy criticism in the media from those genuinely horrified by recent events and those who do not need an excuse to accuse Israel of "war crimes" or to attack its morality and very existence

NO MORAL EQUIVALENCE

When examining the circumstances behind the Gaza beach incident, it is worth looking at the wider context. An editorial in the Jerusalem Post excellently summarizes the Israeli situation:

Firstly, Israel, while confronting an enemy publicly committed to maximizing civilian fatalities, seeks relentlessly to minimize such casualties even as it defends itself. Fatah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists deliberately aim to kill and maim civilians, both in disputed and purportedly non-disputed Israeli-controlled territory, and show little concern for any "collateral" damage such attacks may inflict on their own people. Israel, in absolute contrast, acts concertedly to thwart the terrorists, not to attack the civilians from whose residential areas the terror cells despicably operate.

Sderotkids_2

Israel would have no interest in, nor any need to be firing artillery shells or any other weaponry into the Gaza Strip were sovereign Israeli territory not coming under incessant attack from Gaza.

Indeed, as Qassams have rained down on Sderot and other areas of the Negev, striking residential buildings and schools, it is only due to immense luck that Israel has not already suffered multiple deaths and injuries as a result of such attacks. In the latest missile attacks, carried out by Hamas, an Israeli suffered critical injuries as a Qassam struck a school campus. These attacks, despite their potential for mass casualties, are described by the BBC's Simon Wilson as "mainly symbolic".

While the IDF has not taken responsibility for the Palestinian deaths until the conclusion of an inquiry, Israel has offered assistance to the Palestinians, including evacuating the wounded to Israeli hospitals, where a number are now being treated.

Israel's rush to apologize was a MAJOR MEDA MISTAKE;

Israel's hasty apology for 7 killings in Gaza enabled civil rights organizations, left-wing MKs & foreign countries to condemn Israel. It now appears that Israel had nothing to do with it.

Meanwhile, storms of Kassam tockets are hitting Sderot and nobody says anything. The world stands idly by.

Schools in Sderot are closed... Some 20 Kassam rockets at Israel since last night, critically wounding one... 3 terrorists killed, 7 injured, as they were about to fire more rockets Sunday...

UPDATE: Westbank mama tells us

According to IDF radio today, the artillery shelling on Friday stopped at 16:51, and at that time there was no commotion on the beach. There was only commotion at 17:01, a full ten minutes after the IDF stopped.

A top Israeli general says the country's armed forces didn't cause the explosion that killed eight Palestinians on Friday and ended the fragile ceasefire in the region.    Hamas, which leads the Palestinian Authority parliament, blamed the deaths on Tel Aviv as its military branch resumed attacks on Israel for the first time in 16 months.

Liars.

But Israeli Maj.-Gen. Yoav Galant said Sunday the military can prove it wasn't Israeli fire that hit the beach in Gaza, killing eight people.

Galant, who commands Israel's southern command, said Israel stopped firing 15 minutes before the explosion.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Sunday said he was sorry about the deaths, which included three children. [what are you apologizing for schmuck!? Facts first! -Atlas]

UPDATE: Rich has updated his  brilliant anaylsis, frame by frame,  of the blood libel here at Augean Stables

On the other hand, a feature unites both the al Durah and the Ghalia families. Their tragedy came at a most important time. In both cases, the Palestinian leadership was on the defensive world-wide (Arafat for his Camp-David no, Hamas for their unwillingness to even mouth conciliatory formulas in English), they were under direct pressure to do something (in this case by Abbas’ referendum which struck horror in the hearts of good Jihadis everywhere), but especially of Hamas, and on the eve of a visit by the Israelis to Europe where this incident would deeply embarrass them (for Barak it was the October 4th humiliation at the hands of Chirac; here it was Olmert “under a cloud“).

Finally, the most important similarity that emerged in the aftermath of both the al Durah and Ghalia family tragedies is that, whatever actually happened, the greatest likelihood (by far) seems to be that the Israelis did not cause the damage in question.

Is it possible that the evacuation scene of real bodies was staged in a different place for the sake of the cameras? Such a hypothesis might explain a great deal of the anomalies already noted, including the strange placement of the bodies and beachware.

It is certainly not beyond the reach of Palestinian cameramen and the “street.” And like so often, the quality of the performance is shoddy at best.

All in all, highly suspicious footage suggesting that, in order to turn a scandalous error into a PR coup (at best — who wants to think about a real Hamas conspiracy to kill their own innocents?), by blaming Israel, the footage was staged using real bodies. As with Pallywood at Netzarim Junction, Pallywood producers don’t sweat the obvious details (at Netzarim the evacuations take place in front of the Israeli guns; here the reconstruction takes place where the original explosion did not happen), because they can count on the media — Arab, Western, Israeli! — to react to the emotional drama they play out. Like magicians with a sleight of hand, they have us focus on the wrong details

Islamic leader: 'British should try arranged marriages'

While the West looks away in fear, Islam marches apace.

In his first newspaper interview since being elected, Dr Muhammad Abdul Bari suggests this country should adopt more Islamic ways.

Speaking of the recent arrests and shooting of suspected Muslim terrorists in the UK, Bari, chairman of the east London mosque and the new leader of Britain's Muslims said;

"On the face of it, these guys are innocent. I have talked to people who know them in the Bangladeshi community. The family said they were good boys."

"We need 3,000 more Muslim policemen in London to restore trust."

And the new leader of the British Muslims has big plans for the Brits;

His aim, he says, will be to encourage Britain to adopt more Muslim ways, as well as to encourage Muslims to be good British citizens. He thinks that non-Muslim Britons would benefit from having arranged marriages and espousing stronger family values; they would also do well to stop drinking and gambling and to follow many of the teachings of Islam.

But instead of integrating, do not some Muslims insist on imposing their values? For example, the schoolgirl in Luton who demanded to wear the jilbab left some feeling threatened.

"We supported her right to wear what she wanted," Dr Bari says. "It was wrong for her to lose out on an education just because of her dress. As Muslims, we are far more shocked by pupils' short skirts, but we don't complain. That is another thing the British could learn: modesty is very attractive."

Read it all here

The Brits have their work cut out for him. This is a  "puff piece"  I am quoting. Stop Muslim immigration  and that goes for the States as well.

HAMAS CONDEMNS ZARQAWI KILLING

I ask my counterparts, my sparring partners, my colleagues, friends, lovers, countrymen. When can we finally call the our mortal enemy the enemy and conquer these savages? Egyptian Sandmonkey reports;

The whole world celebrates his death , but not Hamas. Hamas mourns him

The ruling Palestinian faction Hamas on Thursday deplored the killing by U.S. warplanes of the al Qaeda leader in Iraq Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, describing him as a casualty of a crusade against Arabs and Muslims.

Hamas, branded as a terrorist group by the United States and the European Union and shunned by the West since winning office in the Palestinian government in March, had distanced itself in the past from violence abroad blamed on al Qaeda.

But in a statement faxed to Reuters after Zarqawi was killed in a U.S. air strike north of Baghdad on Wednesday, Hamas said it mourned the Jordanian-born insurgent as a "martyr of the (Muslim Arab) nation."

"With hearts full of faith, Hamas commends brother-fighter Abu Musab … who was  martyred at the hands of the savage crusade campaign which targets the Arab homeland, starting in Iraq," the statement said.

What are we waiting for? Israel has already surrendered in the name of  'security'. It's up to the U.S.

War on Jihad: Now or Never

As Islamists Grow Confident, It's Time for the West To Stand Firm
- Lt. Gen. (res.) Moshe Yaalon

  • In Europe I observed a widespread refusal to consider Hamas' January electoral victory beyond the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In reality, Hamas' rise to power has global ramifications. It opens a new front for radical Islamism in its confrontation with the West and provides encouragement to Islamists worldwide.
  • In a February 3 speech in a Damascus mosque, Hamas leader Khaled Mashal redefined Hamas' ambitions from the goal of destroying Israel to the much broader goal of defeating the West. He also revealed the growing confidence of Islamists in pursuing more ambitious goals.
  • Hamas' electoral victory is only the latest in a series of strategic successes that have given radical Islamists every reason to believe that God is on their side. They include international terrorist attacks carried out by al-Qaeda and its supporters in the U.S., Spain, and Britain; the insurgency's perceived victories against coalition forces in Iraq; Muslim Brotherhood electoral successes in Egypt; and Hizballah's attainment of a cabinet seat in Lebanon.
  • Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leading terrorist in Iraq, recently declared that America "is breathing its final breath," while Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas branded the U.S. an "enemy of Islam."
  • Conceptually, the West should be wary of any diplomatic, economic, or military move that might serve to reinforce the Islamists' notion that they are winning. The current Hamas-led government must be made to fail, Hizballah should be disarmed in accordance with UN Resolution 1559, and the Iranian regime must be stopped in its pursuit of nuclear weapons and support for terrorist groups throughout the region. A unilateral Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank would undermine any attempt to confront the advance of the global jihad movement; to the contrary, it would encourage and energize radical Islamists worldwide.
  • Confronting the advance of radical Islamist elements requires, first and foremost, striking at the confidence that has motivated their progress. This requires uniting behind a policy that refuses further concessions to terrorism, acts aggressively against future transgressions, and appropriately engages the next generation in the Muslim world.

There has been so much intel on the Middle East connection to the OKC bombings, these hearings are long overdue

Congress to hold hearings into OKC bombing Examining foreign connection to plot, including Arab terrorists

Rep. Henry Hyde, R-Ill., has given the nod for hearings into the long-debated question of whether those responsible for the bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building had help from any foreign source.

Spurred to action by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., Hyde has given Rohrabacher's Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee of the House International Relations Committee the wide-ranging authority to conduct interviews and subpoena documents related to the April 19, 1995, terrorist attack that left 168 dead, 19 of them children.

UPDATE: Any doubt the Democrats are the fifth column? The Washington Times has the story here:

“Some Democrats, breaking ranks from their leadership, today said the death of terrorist leader Abu Musab Zarqawi in Iraq was a stunt to divert attention from an unpopular and hopeless war. ‘This is just to cover Bush's [rear] so he doesn't have to answer’ for Iraqi civilians being killed by the U.S. military and his own sagging poll numbers, said Rep. Pete Stark, California Democrat. ‘Iraq is still a mess -- get out.’ Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich, Ohio Democrat, said Zarqawi was a small part of ‘a growing anti-American insurgency’ and that it's time to get out. ‘We're there for all the wrong reasons,’ Mr. Kucinich said.

Holy Imam! Prison Islamic Chaplain Guilty on Gun Charges

Why does a holy man, man of G-d, a reverend,  need guns? What kind of religious leader is this? What is up with these prison Imams? Could it have anything to do with prisons - America's new terror training camps. Gun toting Imam story here, NY Post

June 8, 2006 -- The former head Islamic chaplain for the state prisons pleaded guilty yesterday to charges he had weapons in his Bronx apartment.

Warith Deen Umar then accused authorities of using the case as an excuse to raid his home to search for terrorism-related materials.

Umar admitted he had the guns in a Bronx building he owns when he called cops there in December after a dispute with a tenant.

Officials said he was not allowed to have guns because he was convicted in 1971 of possession of a dangerous weapon.

The Jewish state is headed toward a major, violent confrontation with the Palestinian Arabs, while Prime Minister Olmert’s plan to withdraw from most of the West Bank will “not help”to decrease the terrorism, according to an Israeli army assessment.

The prognosis will be released in an official Israeli Defense Force report next month. It follows interviews with The New York Sun in which the leaders of every major Palestinian Arab terror organization said recent events here are leading them to launch what they call a third intifada — or violent confrontation against Israel. The terrorists warned of suicide bombings, rocket attacks against Jewish communities, and “a few new surprises in our arsenal.”

EXCLUSIVE: Nidra Poller Column One "BAKED ON THE PREMISES"

Nidra Poller: Baked on the Premises

How much richer and smarter are we in the Atlas sphere now that Nidra Polleris cooking up a regular column for us . This is her first column for Atlas but it is the beginning of a beautifulFrench_bakery alliance. Nidra will be giving us the real 411  from the French street, the Arab French street, and the French Jews (they have no street.)
"Baked on the Premises" - the sweet smell of a  French truth teller (yes, you read that right, no oxymoron there.)  Coining the term, Punk Jihad to described the enormous violence. Violence against Jews, violence against Muslim women, violence against teachers, violence against the state - an economic decline, and a government in its last throes and virulent exterminationist Jew Hatred.

Today we get the real story behind the recent incident, the Wrath of Ka --  terrorizing French Jews here. Details had been sketchy. No more. I am running it all unedited because you must eat every word on your plate.

RUE DES ROSIERS REVISITED AFTER KA TRIBE INCURSION

Nidra Poller
Paris  Wednesday 7 June 2006

Sunday 4 June, one week after the Ka Tribe militia’ marched into rue des Rosiers looking to bash Jewish heads, the street stood up to be counted! What us scared?  On the contrary.  Out in force.  A few police cars blocked one of the side streets, policemen and gendarmes were posted in twos and threes at strategic entry points, but the main line of defense was made up of ordinary people in all shapes and sizes casually lined up on both sides of the narrow five-block stretch of shops, restaurants, bakeries, delicatessens, bookstores, and trendy boutiques.  A rather pathetic yellow Jewish Defense League flag wrapped around a street sign in front of the Hollywood Bagel shop offered a shred of evidence for anyone who wants to swallow the story that the paramilitary incursion was a legitimate episode in a turf battle between the Ka and the JDL –Betar riffraff.  I share one feature with all those rabid anti-Semites: I can’t tell the difference between a dues-paying member of the JDL and a common ordinary Jewish kid in t-shirt and jeans.

Melanie Phillips: Axis of Feeble

Melanie Phillips, truth teller, gives us a geography lesson from Londonistan to Canadastan  here
(hat tip tOm P)

If the details emerging are true, it would seem that this haul of suspects has a significance extending far beyond Canada. They appear to have been part of an international conspiracy, demonstrating once again the global aspect of the jihad and the way in which, as a decentralised and endlessly mutating network of like-minded terrorists, it has spread like a cancer throughout the world.

The Australian reports:

The investigation into Canada's home-grown terrorism plot has been widened, with authorities looking for links between those detained in Canada and terrorist cells in at least six other countries. It has been established that two men from the US state of Georgia, who were charged this year in a terrorism case, had been in contact with some of the Canadian suspects via computer, according to a US law enforcement official. The other countries are believed to be Bangladesh, Bosnia, Denmark, Britain and Sweden.

Apparently the Georgia men travelled to Washington to shoot ‘casing videos’ of the Capitol and other potential targets. But the Canadian investigation appears to have started in — where else — Londonistan. The Wall Street Journal reports:

The October arrest of a London man who allegedly ran al-Qaeda-linked websites and distributed jihadist propaganda kicked off a multinational investigation that culminated in last weekend's arrests in Canada, U.S. law enforcement officials and counterterrorism experts say.

Younis Tsouli, who is being held on charges ranging from conspiracy to murder to terrorist financing, is suspected of involvement in a possible plot to attack Washington, and other militant activities. During the raid on Mr. Tsouli's home Oct. 22, Scotland Yard found a PowerPoint-like presentation on a computer showing how to make a car bomb, various bomb-making manuals and a digital video clip of Washington monuments. Federal law-enforcement officials now say that the digital movie, believed to be a surveillance video, was taken by one of two suspected Atlanta terrorists who was arrested and charged in March in the first part of a counterterrorism operation that resulted in the Canadian action.

And what else was Mr Tsouli apparently doing in the UK in addition to allegedly plotting to blow up Washington?

Mr. Kohlmann noted that Mr. Tsouli seemed to be particularly active in radicalizing non-Arab terrorists, whether they are English-speaking South Asian men or Muslim converts. This, he said, could allow al-Qaeda and other militant Islamist groups to greatly alter the profile of many of their operatives.

He was, it seems, radicalising people in Britain. Unnamed UK ‘security sources’ tell us that some 1200 terrorists — 1200! – are biding their time within the British suburbs. Any connection? So are our media’s finest jumping up and down about this UK connection to Toronto? Are they asking hard questions about the record of our intelligence service, which ignored this man’s activities —like so many others - for so long? Are you reading anything at all about this in the British media? Of course not. British intelligence is instead feeding the media with what they want to hear: that the root of the problem is the UK’s involvement in Iraq. Yeah, yeah - just like Canada, eh?

Now America faces the chilling realisation that while it has been convulsed for weeks over illegal immigration across its border with Mexico, a far greater threat is posed by its unpatrolled border with Canada — twice the length of the border with Mexico – which has one of the most liberal asylum and immigration policies in the world.

Jack Hooper, deputy director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, has admitted

that the CSIS could vet only about one-tenth of the immigrants from Afghanistan and Pakistan. In other words, apart from bare details, which themselves may be spurious, Canada knows nothing--not even current addresses--of approximately 18,000 immigrants from that part of the world who have arrived just in the last five years.

Sound familiar? Canada, America, Britain — the axis of feeble.

Israel: NO MORE LAND GIVEAWAYS

Suicidal .................. road to hell paved with good intention,

But Mr. Olmert’s plan could be loaves and fishes for Palestinian terrorists. After 60,000 Israelis now living in some 60 smaller settlements are transferred to larger ones behind the 456-mile (up from 420 miles), $2.2 billion barrier, funded by U.S. soft loans, Hamas would be free to lob its Iran-supplied missiles into Israel. Jordan would come under tremendous pressure from Palestinians in the West Bank to reopen its border. Hamas would also have a hunting license to destabilize the Hashemite kingdom whose population is already 65 percent Palestinian. All in all, a bad deal for Israel and a good deal for Hamas.More here

Danish Cartoon Editor Attacks Media

Joern Mikkelsen, the editor in chief of Jyllands Posten, the Danish newspaper that sparked the Muhammad cartoons furore, today attacked misreporting over the incident. Speaking before the 13th World Editors Forum in Moscow, Mr Mikkelsen used the bulk of his address to correct mistakes made by other media in reporting the affair. Article here

"I must conclude, alas, that real reality and published reality were rather far apart. In many instances it was a rather disappointing experience for us," Mr Mikkelsen said.

He said the newspaper's objectives in publishing the cartoons - an examination of self-censorship among Danish cartoonists - had been overtaken.

"The affair was swiftly politicised and forces with different agendas took over."

Mr Mikkelsen said the consquence of the affair was that the 12 cartoonists whose cartoons had been published received death threats and were still under police protection.

"Would we do it again?, I have been asked time and time again. It is very hard to tell, I have said that we wouldn't do it if we had known the consequences."

Publication of the cartoons led to several deaths in widespread rioting and attacks on embassies around the world.

"No responsible editor would risk such consequences again," he said.

Mr Mikkelsen said he wanted to correct "appalling allegations" levelled at the paper.

"Allow me to get a few fundamental things straight. No, Jyllands Posten is not owned by the Danish government. No, it is not an ultra-right pamplet, it is a liberal newspaper wholly independent of outside influences.

"No, we did not have a cynical, mean ambition to upset Muslims around the world. No we did not have a cynical, mean ambition to upset Muslims in Denmark. No, we were not an accomplice of extreme anti-Muslim sentiment around the world

"No we did not seek to force a clash of civilisations."

The paper apologised for hurting the feelings of Muslims but did not apologise for publishing the cartoons.

Mr Mikkelsen said all newspapers, whether they published the cartoons or not, had been forced to think about issues of free speech.

"Each player has learned a lesson from this," he said.

Rockets Attacking Israel, Again:"How long can we rely on miracles?"

From Gaza, the land of the disengagement, a rain of rockets, yet again.

Palestinian Rocket Lands on Child's Bed - Shmulik Hadad
Palestinians in Gaza fired five Kassam rockets toward the Western Negev city ofGaza_sderotkassams Sderot early Tuesday. One rocket landed near a school and a woman passing by sustained light injuries from shrapnel. Another rocket penetrated a home and landed on the bed of one of the children, who had left for school just minutes before. Damage was caused to the house and to a number of parked cars. (Ynet News)

It is endless, and ignored by world news organziations. It wont't stop at Kassam rockets. What kind of rocket is next?

Sderot residents protested this morning, after Kassam rockets smashed into a child's bedroom and near a school this morning. "How long can we rely on miracles?" they ask. Sderot municipal spokesman Yosef Cohen told Arutz-7's Kobi Finkler, "The rockets today were especially powerful, and their blast was heard clearly throughout the city. Children are frightened, people are panicking, and the IDF has no answer.

Israeli citizens and the country’s economy should not be harmed by a lack of electricity while the enemies of the state enjoy a steady electricity supply.”

Mr. Gabbai added, “The electricity supply in Sderot will be cut off, putting the Red Dawn early warning system in jeopardy, while in Gaza everyone continues to burn their electric lights while firing their missiles.” hat tip Grasiela

Islamic militia seizes Somalia's capital

Somalia falls to Islam. Home of Bill Clinton's Mogadishu - Black Hawk Down. What other religion is conquering peoples and taking over capitals. RoPMA.  Article here

An Islamic militia with alleged links to al-Qaida seized Somalia's capital Monday after weeks of fighting with U.S.-backed secular warlords, raising fears that the nation could fall under the sway of Osama bin Laden's terrorist organization.

[...]It also posed a direct challenge to a fledging U.N.-backed Somali government.

"We won the fight against the enemy of Islam. Mogadishu is under control of its people," Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed, chairman of the Islamic Courts Union, said in a radio broadcast

"The Islamic clerics want to be like Taliban regime in Afghanistan," Abdulqaadir Bashir, a computer engineer, said. "People have no hope at all."

Jamal said it will take time for the militants to consolidate their power in Mogadishu, and that the struggle to control the country will not end there. He called on the international community to do everything possible to support the U.N.-backed government to keep the Islamic radicals from expanding their power base any farther.

"This war will not stop in Mogadishu," Jamal said.

Quite right, Jamal.

Fear Of Muslims Forces England NOT TO FLY OWN FLAG

While many think Melanie Phillips may have overstated the case inLondonistan. I think she's underestimated it.

Following warnings by extremist Islamic group al-Muhajiroun, in which the group said that the red cross in the England flag symbolizes the ‘blood thirsty crusaders’ and the occupation of Muslims, some of the largest companies in England have ordered their workers not to wave the flags.
British
The flag has recently appeared in England on everything from bikinis to cars, and sold in endless versions in stores.

But the Islamic protest forced some corporations, such as cable companies NTL, Heathrow airport in London, and even the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Agency to ban the flag in every form due to fears from reactions of Muslims. More here

AYAAN HIRSI ALI [Andrew Stuttaford at NRO]

Here’s a fascinating interview with Hirsi Ali from the London Sunday Times. She has a few unkind words for Tony Blair:

“I had a good laugh when he claimed to have read the Koran from cover to cover twice: nobody has. And when he said there was no conflict between the two civilisations, he missed 600 years of history.” She pauses, breaking into a grin: “I am no longer a politician. I can say such things now.”

And with her new project she reveals, once again, how she is a true child of the Enlightenment. It’s a book “dealing with Muslim treatment of gays. It will also feature the Prophet transported to modern-day New York, forced by three great western liberal philosophers, Mill, Popper and Hayek, to recognise the failure of many Muslim societies."

Fasten your seatbelts.

Pamela, the flag in question is the English one (not the British one you've put on your blog, much as I love to see that one too!) and, with the (soccer) World Cup starting at the end of this week it's being flown literally everywhere all over the country: it's inconceivable that anyone could be cowed into not doing so - indeed the UK version of the Sun is naming and shaming anyone who dares try. One of the companies cited in the article may indeed not be flying the flag - but that's because it's located in Wales which has its own national team (which hasn't qualified for the World Cup) and the Welsh and Scots are not renowned for supporting England in those sports where the four constituent components of the UK compete in their own right as is the case in football.

I can not lie, I ran that flag because the graphic fit in with Melanie Phillips description of Britian losing its belief  in itself as a nation. Wrong flag, guys ............

Canada: Blaming the "Jew Lobby"

Boycotting the Jews won't save Canada from the violent Islamists.

Writing in the Globe and Mail, former Soviet prisoner and current member of Israel’s Knesset (that’s a parliament for you CUPE members), Natan Sharansky, described the CUPE Ontario resolution as un-Canadian and inconsistent with Canada’s stand on human rights issues.

Mr. Sharansky is wrong.

The more things change, the more the stay the same. Boycotting the Jews, from our Northern neighbors.

After the resolution was passed, Sid Ryan made the obligatory comment that the resolution was not an attack on the Jewish people. Yet he went on to tell Coren that CUPE Ontario had received a few threats from people who described themselves as Jewish. Ryan blamed these threats on "the Jewish lobby", seeing nothing wrong with essentially blaming "the Jews" for what may or may not have been the acts of a very few members of the Jewish community. More here hat tip Jay, SOS

Jewish death threats .............. c'mon. That is so so so so not Jewish.

In a country where it seems that half of the population works for the government and the other half spends their days lobbying, it appears that the fact that the Jews have a lobby to promote and defend their interests is illegitimate in the eyes of CUPE Ontario and its president; something fully consistent with the notion that Jews and Canada are, or should be, second class citizens in the land of tolerance and diversity.

France: "DEATH TO JEWS"

From a reader/writer in Israel. More here

At present, in my Hebrew class, there is a woman who recently made aliya from Paris with her family. I have spoken with her about anti-Semitism in France and she confirmed that it is very, very serious and getting worse every week. She and her family fled Paris and came to Israel, fearing for their lives - literally. This is first hand, my friends.

To give you an idea of what's going on in France where there are now between 5 and 6 million Muslims and about 600,000 Jews, here is an email that came from another Jew still in France. Please read! Will the world say nothing - again - as it did in Hitler's time?

He writes, "I AM A JEW -- therefore I am forwarding this to everyone on all my e-mail lists. I will not sit back and do nothing." Nowhere have the flames of anti-Semitism burned more furiously than in France:

In Lyon, a car was rammed into a synagogue and set on fire. In Montpellier, the Jewish religious center was firebombed; so were synagogues in Strasbourg and Marseilles; so was a Jewish school inCreteil - all recently.

A Jewish sports club in Toulouse was attacked with Molotov cocktails, and on the statue of Alfred Dreyfus in Paris, the words "Dirty Jew" were painted. In Bondy, 15 men beat up members of a Jewish footbal team with sticks and metal bars. The bus that takes Jewish children to school in Aubervilliers has been attacked three times in the last 14 months.

According to the Police, metropolitan Paris has seen 10 to 12 anti-Jewish incidents PER DAY in the past 30 days. Wake up, world! Walls in Jewish neighbourhoods have been defaced with slogans proclaiming "Jews to the gas chambers" and "Death to the Jews."

A gunman opened fire on a kosher butcher's shop (and, of course, the butcher) in Toulouse, France; a Jewish couple in their 20s were beaten up by five men in Villeurbanne, France. The woman was pregnant; a Jewish school was broken into and vandalized in Sarcelles, France.

More here and here (hat tip Grasi)  The response?

The umbrella group of French Jewish organisations, CRIF, has offered to launch a national campaign for tolerance, during a meeting last Thursday with French President Jacques Chirac." European Jewish Press  here

Are they effing kidding?  A national campaign of tolerance???? Of course the clown Chirac would support another exercise in mob masturbation.

“The Halimi affair stresses the urgent need to change the atmosphere in France. It struck us that the thirty-member ‘Barbarians gang’ was composed of people from various origins, African, from the West Indies, from Iran, North-Africa, French, a sample of the new French youth, and that none of these people felt the need or the duty they had to report this to the police, even anonymously, and say that someone’s life was at risk. This illustrates the level of violence in our county and the need to change things.” [ya think?]

Notice, yet again, the glaring absence of the world Muslim, the word the dhimmis dares not speak its name.

Blood Libel International

Nidra Poller wll be reporting here later in the week on the rampant horror of Jew Hatred in Francea and the continuing spinning out of control of Muslim wilding. Punk Jihad.

The following article was published two years ago in Hebrew in Makor Risho, in English on the site of Israel Hasbara Committee. The IHC version had been edited.  Badly. Nidra has restored the original version and I am running it here, unedited. This is the first time this piece has appeared in English.

BLOOD LIBEL INTERNATIONAL

Gérard Huber
Nidra Poller

How many times over how many centuries have Jews been killed by murderous mobs inflamed by the accusation of blood libel?  Christian children who had died of natural causes were held up for the crowd to see, and then the real blood flowed, Jewish blood.  The pogroms are a matter of historical fact.  And the Christian children murdered by Jews?  How many of these accusations were based on the truth?  We can fairly reply without further research: none.

Then how are we to explain the indelible quality of the Mohamed Al-Dura international blood libel accusation?  And how can we dare to underestimate its power to motivate a new type of worldwide pogrom, a new wave of jihad against the Jews?  A jihad that, if it is not stopped in its tracks, could put the Shoah to shame!  Irony of ironies, people who have taken the pains to study and analyze all available evidence and present the results of this research for public scrutiny are labeled “revisionists.”

Let us put it simply: at the dawn of the 21st century, television audiences in the entire world were convinced by a crudely concocted fictional death scene instantly transformed into the founding myth of the so-called Al Aqsa Intifada.  Global village indeed!  Global shtetl, in fact.

One is hard put to know where to begin.  An avalanche of questions hurtles down the sharp peak from myth to reality, carrying millions in its wake: they would rather be buried than face such immense doubt.  They would prefer to believe there is no way of knowing the truth than to withdraw the emotional investment provoked by their initial reaction to the scene.  They do not want to wade through the factual evidence, picking over small details, comparing conflicting testimony, discerning discrepancies; they will not dare to stand up against a mountain of belief.

The child “died in his father’s arms.”  So what if the image contradicts the belief induced by the France 2 journalist’s voice-over commentary?  He died in the arms of his father who tried frantically to shelter him.  It would seem considered heartless to point out that the image shows no such thing.  Clearly visible details contradict features discernible only to the believing eye: the blood soaked t-shirt, the fatal moment captured live, the father’s frantic appeals--in the wrong direction--to stop the shooting.  Even before examining discrepancies in testimony by people directly involved in the incident, we must admit that the emblematic image imprinted on the collective mind contradicts the myth it sustains.

The death—real or fictional—of Mohamed Al-Dura is an accusation against Israel, against the Jews.

If the truth could be chosen, if one could choose the truth in the Al-Dura affair, what would be the best truth?  That the “death scene” displayed before the eyes of the world is a fiction and the child, as seen in the film, was not shot and killed.  It doesn’t matter if we cannot find him and bring him back to take a bow on the world stage, offering catharsis, ushering in a new era of peace and harmony.  The human best truth is that this child was not killed before our eyes, was not killed at all.

If, as it would seem, the organizers of the “intifada” or more precisely the latest phase in the ongoing jihad against Israel, created and distributed the myth of the child murdered in cold blood by Israeli soldiers, that can be repaired.  If all’s fair in love and war, meaning all is unfair, peace can be pieced together.  If the child is dead, the loss is irreparable.  If he is alive, that’s good news.

Why does this possible good news provoke reactions shading from disdainful skepticism to vicious hostility?  The refined intelligence searches for truth without arbitrarily excluding potentially valid hypotheses.  Honest research is impossible when alternative hypotheses are previously hooked up to ideological poles erected at opposite extremes like goals on a football field.  The truth lies ahead on a road that cannot be traced in advance.  It isn’t a football disputed by two teams.

For what could be broadly described as the Arab/Muslim/antiZionist team the truth is undeniable: Mohamed Al-Dura was killed in cold blood by brutal Israeli soldiers.  And in fact the role of the soldier implied in the soft version distributed worldwide is made explicit in the hard version peddled to this day in the Muslim world: the image of an Israeli soldier aiming at the Palestinian boy is spliced into the Al Dura scene.  Western viewers who have never seen Palestinian propaganda films  will be surprised to discover how similar they are to the Al Dura film: same crude style, same amateur acting, same slipshod directing.  According to the football game version of the truth the position defended in Contre-expertise--the death scene is a fiction--is necessarily at the opposite extreme from the hard version--the child was killed in cold blood by Israeli soldiers.  Two extremes to be avoided by the discerning mind.

Which leaves us in the crossfire.  The child was killed by accident, by Palestinian gunmen?  If this is the truth, it’s worthless.  No one knows what really happened, there is no way of ever knowing? Again, worthless.  Mohamed Al Dura cannot be the founding myth of the “intifada” unless he was deliberately killed by Israeli soldiers.

This explains, at least partially, the ambiguity entertained by those who brought the myth into the world and those who need it to sustain a movement, which is not finished but only just begun.

We must not forget that the Al-Dura image is a Palestinian creation backed up by French credibility.  According to the news report spread around the world with the speed of light, a French cameraman filmed the incident (which he claims lasted 45 minutes) as the child was felled by Israeli bullets.  In the reportage offered free of charge to all the world’s television, the cameraman’s evidence is corroborated by a voice-over from the France2 Jerusalem correspondent Charles Enderlin speaking as if he were on the spot (he was in Ramallah).  In fact the “French” cameraman is a Palestinian stringer named Talal Abu Rahma.  His sworn testimony presented to the Palestine Human Rights Commission is still available on sites such as www.solidarité-palestine.org where his detailed account of the incident is posted under the headline “Mohammed Al-Durreh was murdered deliberately, in cold blood.”  Abu Rahma’s extensive description of the events is illustrated with the famous pictures of father & son crouched behind the concrete “barrel,” and authenticated by his credentials as an experienced journalist working for France2 and CNN.  His unambiguous assertion that the shots that killed the boy and wounded his father could only have come from the Israeli position stands as gospel truth for millions who would never believe a word that could contradict it, not even when the contradiction is written and signed by the very same Talal Abu Rahma in a fax addressed to the France2 Jerusalem news desk on 28 September 2002: “I never said to the Palestinian Human Rights organization in Gaza that the Israeli soldiers killed willfully or knowingly Mohamed Al Dura, and wounded his father….”

As James Fallows observed in his Atlantic Monthly (June 2003) article, Who shot Mohamed Al-Dura? the same image is functioning on radically different levels in different regions of the international community.

So where does the French public stand on this continuum?  Curiously enough, this French society that prides itself on the finesse of its cinéma d’auteur while demeaning lowbrow glitzy Hollywood products has swallowed the Al Dura film with uncritical candor.  In an obvious attempt to deflect attention from the French peacenik foreign policy fiasco, America bashing took to gasps and tut tuts over the biased American media manipulated by a dictatorial warmongering government.  French media, you understand, would never stoop so low.  In a world of sordid self-interest and backroom deals France has elected itself to a permanent seat on the higher plane.  Did France not show its valor in opposing the heartless war machine of the hyperpuissance?  Does France not stand, alone if necessary, for a just solution to the Middle East crisis?

There is no Mohamed Al Dura affair in France!  It is an open and shut case.  Charles Enderlin, the journalist who brought the Mohamed Al Dura image to the world’s screens, always has the last word in the French press.  Interviewed by the lightweight weekend magazine VSD (N° 1344: 52) after he was awarded the Peabody prize for the English language version of Le Rêve brisé, Charles Enderlin was asked:

VSD: How did you feel when you were accused of misinformation on the death of Mohamed al-Dura before the cameras on 30 September 2000?

Charles Enderlin: It's defamation, propagated by extreme right organizations that pretend the scene was staged.  The Israeli army never investigated.  We suggested they contact us to get the rushes, but no request was presented to our legal service.  Since that time France2 and I have filed 4 lawsuits in Paris.

(See www.menapress.com info # 012905 for a full reply to the above)

None of the alleged lawsuits ever reached Gérard Huber or any other person involved in this investigation!

When the subject was raised in whispers on a television program called Campus, Libération journalist Hatzfeld shrugged it off with "nous assumons le dérapage," which freely translated means okay it was a fiction film, so what?  We might call this media libertinisme.  Everyone’s doing it so what’s the big deal? Maybe so.

But it is legitimate to ask why the Al Dura affair is such a big deal in the United States?  David Kupelian’s in-depth investigation (Whistleblower March 2003) and the abridged version posted on WorldNetDaily circulated widely.  Fallows’ Atlantic Monthly piece has attracted attention in all quarters.  It is reasonable to expect that TV stations unwittingly involved in broadcasting the myth will come into the fray.
And, further, one can ask whether French-speaking people have been given a chance to decide for themselves, since the issue has never been openly treated in the French media and, we might add, not even in French Jewish media.  Contre-expertise, a serious, solidly documented study of the Al-Dura case, published in January 2003, has met with dismissive silence.  Total refusal to consider the evidence and respond to the arguments is coupled with a pernicious smear campaign against the author Gérard Huber--labeled “right wing extremist”--and assorted supportive individuals, associations, and news agencies bunched together in an anonymous mass and accused of being unconditional supporters of Sharon, Likud fellow travelers, dangerous members of the Betar, etc.

There is no need for a conspiracy against those who suggest that the Al Dura story is weighted with too many discrepancies to float undisturbed in the upper atmosphere of journalistic reliability; the defensive reaction draws on ingrained attitudes and habits of thought.  The reaction of contemptuous silence is eating away at the French media culture and making serious inroads into French democracy.  Because of course the Al-Dura affair is not an isolated incident; it is an essential element in a troubling climate of antisemitism cloaked in antizionism.  The distress of French Jewry is no secret to anyone…but the French.  In the same way that the media cannot dare to ask if Mohamed Al Dura is alive and well and living somewhere, French society cannot ask what French Jews are complaining about.  And this is leading to ever more complicated contortions and variations on the theme of “don’t we have the right to criticize the government of Ariel Sharon without being accused of antisemitism?”  Of course the answer is yes.  But the corollary is not heard: if criticism supposedly directed against the Israeli government is constantly translated into acts of aggression against French Jews is this not evidence of the underlying antisemitism that motivates this “criticism”?

The false accusation of ritual murder has led to the real murder and mutilation of thousands of victims…with no real end in sight.  Israeli children murdered in their beds, homes, streets, schools, playgrounds, cars, restaurants.  Palestinian children killed accidentally in actions aimed at terrorists embedded in the population; children foolishly throwing stones at soldiers and tanks and taking the fire directed at killers hiding behind them; children roped into blowing themselves up in terrorist bombings; a whole generation of the living dead, children with no model but suicide, no hope, no future.  Demystifying the Al Dura myth could help to roll back this culture of suicide.

Whatever provisions might be made and eventually respected in this road map or that peace process, no plan for reconciliation and peaceful coexistence between Israel and Palestine—between Jews and Muslims--can succeed if it does not include an end to the incitement to murder Jews.  Which is more degrading?  To pursue the incitement and make peace impossible, or to renounce jihad and build new relations based on mutual respect?  It takes courage to dismantle the emblematic myth of this “Intifada,” but we believe that the hope generated by such a gesture is no less crucial than the hope of political autonomy.

In today’s “we are not anti-Semitic” France, Jews are called to task from morning to night, from right to left, from a vulgar-to-sophisticated wide spectrum of commentators, and summoned to answer for a century’s hit parade of crimes attributed to the “Hebrew state”: genocide, apartheid, occupation, colonialism, crimes against humanity, war crimes.Certainly the death of Mohamed Al-Dura is in the top ten of this hit parade.  It is the knot that holds together the intricate enterprise of deligitimization of Israel, denied the right of self-defense against attacks perpetrated with the ultimate aim of extermination.  It is the beginning, or the fake beginning, of this “intifada.”  The “provocation of Sharon’s visit to the Temple Mount” has already been deflated.  The Al Dura myth will not resist much longer.  This leaves the atrocious murder of two Israeli reservists in a Ramallah police station as the real first bloody horror of this conflict.

In questioning the authenticity of the claim that a Palestinian child was killed in cold blood—or by accident--by Israeli soldiers—or Palestinian gunmen--at the Netzarim crossing on 3o September 2000 we are not seeking to whitewash Israel, to save face, to cover crimes in order to have a free hand to pursue a criminal project.  We are simply showing that the image of the “death scene” does not stand up to unbiased examination.  Then why should it be left standing?

Flashback:

Dateline Gaza, 11 October 2000, 11 days after the alleged death of the Palestinian child and one day before the bloody mob murder of two Israeli reservists in Ramallah: Le Monde, France’s newspaper of record, publishes a full-page article signed Gilles Paris--Mohamad, a simple child from Gaza.  A tour de force of narrative journalism studded with endless details of local color that place the reader in the heart of the tragedy --the stairway, the metal door, chirping birds in cages, plastic chairs for condolence visitors.  The child in the article is named Mohamad El Dirah, the woman identified as his mother is known today as his stepmother, the shoulder injury sustained by her husband Jamal in the France2 news report has turned into an unspecified injury that will cause him to limp for the rest of his life.  The mother comments “I know that martyrdom is the best way to die but I doubt that it will change anything….when it comes to international negotiations.”

The Gilles Paris article, twisted with wilful bias stitched into every word and dripping in gooey pathos that curdles into anti-Israeli poison, is a stunning demonstration of the confused and contradictory gospels built up around the Al Dura legend and glibly presented as factual reporting.  Why quibble about the discrepancies when the point is that Mohamad, “the martyr of Al Aqsa….an ordinary child who loved birds…” is dead.

But what if he isn’t dead?  If the death scene is a fiction film then where did the Le Monde journalist draw such vivid details for his human interest story?  How did he pump such convincing authenticity into these tales embroidered on a myth?

Mohamad’s older brother Iyad remembers a marvellous trip to Jaffa with their father, the only time he and Mohamad had ever left Gaza.  Compared to Gaza, Jaffa is a “paradise.”  Iyad would love go there again.  But, writes Gilles Paris, “he will never go to Tel Aviv.  ‘Because there are many Jews there and it’s the Jews who killed my brother,’ says Iyad calmly.”  And Gilles Paris adds, as if the words fell from heaven, “It’s perfectly clear.”

[1]For example the “rape” scene reproduced in Pierre Rehov’s Contre-Champs video Israel and the War of Images.  Palestinians dressed as Israeli soldiers rape a Palestinian woman and slit her husband’s throat.  The scene is so grotesque that it is limited to domestic distribution.  But French journalist Sara Daniel made the no less grotesque claim in a Nouvel Observateur article that Israeli soldiers deliberately rape Palestinian women so they will fall victim to honor killings.

Eurabia Tires of Pali Vampires

Thoughts in an Oped piece in the Jerusalem Post on yesterday's release of new polls taken in Europe by a leading international pollster showing that European support for Palestinians has fallen precipitously: European support for Palestinians ‘crashes’ reported on LGF:

Europeans may be entertaining much-belated second-thoughts about the Palestinians - and in a big way. As reported in yesterday's Jerusalem Post, new polls indicate that the Palestinians are fast losing their place of honor as the darlings of Europe's "opinion elites."

Surveys conducted among those defined as such trendsetters by renowned international pollster Stanley Greenberg have produced results so unexpected that the pollster himself was incredulous and repeated some of the polls to make sure. Yet the same apparent shift in inclinations again became evident, reinforcing Greenberg's belief that this was no accidental finding.

It may be far too soon to count on the end of Europe's lack of sympathy, if not often outright antagonism towards the Jewish state. The collective experience of all citizens in all democracies has taught us time and again not to put absolute faith in opinion surveys, no matter how expertly conducted or by whom. By the same token, however, we must not succumb to the opposite extreme and dismiss out of hand what may indeed prove to be a pivotal swing in sentiment.

Europe's arrogance and animus sometimes seemed so immutable and so entrenched that Israelis essentially wrote if off. The consensus here and in much of the Jewish world abroad was that to appeal to European reason and decency was a waste of breath.

It is clearly much too premature to celebrate the end of Palestinian supremacy in the fight for European hearts and minds, but what confers particular credence on Greenberg's findings is both what they show and what they don't. Greenberg does not report a remarkable rise in sympathy towards Israel. He does report a dramatic fall in sympathy for the Palestinians.

What is striking about this shift is that it is occurring despite the fact that much of the European media remain skewed against Israel. Europeans have not been exposed to pro-Israeli coverage, and precious little that, from this perspective, appears fair-minded.

Whatever change is measured must therefore arise from Europeans' own experiences rather than from what is transmitted to them. There's been no face-lift for Israel's image. Rather, the Islamist threat in Europe, the terrorist predations there, the burgeoning of what has been dubbed Eurabia - are all apparently impressing Europeans deeply enough to begin to question the perception of Israel as an intransigent imperialist aggressor and the Palestinians as progressive freedom-fighters.

The Mighty, Mighty BOSTOM: Outing Bernard Lewis

Finally, someone outs Bernard Lewis as an Arab sympathizer/apologist for Islam. It would have to be an intellectual powerhouse and scholar, the mighty Andrew Bostom. In today's American Thinker, Bostom pens an extraordinary paper delivering devastating evidence of the intellectual dishonesty of Bernard Lewis. It is rather long, I have run excerpts, but you must read it all.

I've long had my suspicions, especially when Lewis would wax poetic about how well the Jews were treated under Islam, living as dhimmis.

Dhimmitude and The Doyen

Recently, multiple deserving tributes to Bernard Lewis’ career as a scholar, and public intellectual, have been written in celebration of this remarkable nonagenarian (see here for example)—the latest by Reuel Gerecht here appearing in the Wednesday May 31, 2006 online edition of The Weekly Standard, coincided exactly with his 90th birthday. Gerecht, in his lavish praise, maintains that Lewis,

…has attained a stature in the field and with the general reading public unrivaled by any historian, living or dead, of the Middle East and Islam. His range of writings—from the pre-Islamic period, through Islam's classical and medieval ages and its premodern “gunpowder” empires, to today's Muslim nation-states—is simply unparalleled by any other scholar, even from the golden age of Islamic studies in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when the field's terrifyingly erudite, multilingual European founding fathers—the much despised “orientalists”—bestrode the earth. Lewis is the last and greatest of the orientalists…

Whether or not one accepts all of Gerecht’s assertions, there can be little debate regarding Lewis’ “unrivaled” current stature, particularly as a public intellectual. And in discussing how Lewis’ views have evolved over his enduring and illustrious career, Gerecht highlights a striking example:

In 1945, for example, Lewis was not in favor of a Jewish state in Palestine today, he is, seeing Israel  as one of the things that has gone more right than wrong in the region.

Gerecht might have also cited the evolution of Lewis’ thought on the Muslim conception of freedom, or “hurriyya”. At present, Lewis worries here,

The war against terror and the quest for freedom are inextricably linked, and neither can succeed without the other. The struggle is no longer limited to one or two countries, as some Westerners still manage to believe. It has acquired first a regional then a global dimension, with profound consequences for all of us. . . . If freedom fails and terror triumphs, the peoples of Islam will be the first and greatest victims. They will not be alone, and many others will suffer with them.

And Lewis concludes with a stunning observation, when viewed in light of the present travails in Iraq nd throughout the Muslim world, as well as his own evolved views:

In the final revulsion against the West, Western democracy too was rejected as a fraud and a delusion, of no value to Muslims.

In stark contrast, Lewis’ views have remained unchanged on the subject of the plight of those non-Muslims living under Islamic rule—what Bat Ye’or’s own remarkable scholarship has characterized with painstaking elegance as the civilization of dhimmitude (here, and here ).  Writing in 1974 (vol. 2, p.217) Lewis maintained,

The dhimma on the whole worked well. The non-Muslims managed to thrive under Muslim rule, and even to make significant contributions to Islamic civilization. The restrictions were not onerous, and were usually less severe in practice than in theory. As long as the non-Muslim communities accepted and conformed to the status of tolerated subordination assigned to them, they were not troubled. The rare outbreaks of repression or violence directed against them are almost always the consequence of a feeling that they have failed to keep their place and honor their part of the covenant. The usual cause was the undue success of Christians or Jews in penetrating to positions of power and influence which Muslims regarded as rightly theirs. The position of the non-Muslims deteriorated during and after the Crusades and the Mongol invasions, partly because of the general heightening of religious loyalties and rivalries, partly because of the well-grounded suspicion that they were collaborating with the enemies of Islam.

More recently, Lewis in a rather flippant pronouncement, characterized the conception of “dhimmi-tude” (derisively hyphenated, as he wrote it), “…subservience and persecution and ill treatment” of Jews, specifically, under Islamic rule, as a “myth”.

  • Bat Ye’or’s own extensive analyses of the dhimmi condition for both Jews and Christians published (in English) in 1985 and 1996, are summarized here:

..These examples are intended to indicate the general character of a system of oppression, sanctioned by contempt and justified by the principle of inequality between Muslims and dhimmis…Singled out as objects of hatred and contempt by visible signs of discrimination, they were progressively decimated during periods of massacres, forced conversions, and banishments. Sometimes it was the prosperity they had achieved through their labor or ability that aroused jealousy; oppressed and stripped of all their goods, the dhimmi often emigrated.”

…in many places and at many periods [through] the nineteenth century, observers have described the wearing of discriminatory clothing, the rejection of dhimmi testimony, the prohibitions concerning places of worship and the riding of animals, as well as fiscal charges- particularly the protection charges levied by nomad chiefs- and the payment of the jizya…Not only was the dhimma imposed almost continuously, for one finds it being applied in the nineteenth century Ottoman Empire…and in Persia, the Maghreb, and Yemen in the early twentieth century, but other additional abuses, not written into the laws, became absorbed into custom, such as the devshirme, the degrading corvees (as hangmen or gravediggers), the abduction of Jewish orphans (Yemen), the compulsory removal of footware (Morocco, Yemen), and other humiliations…The recording in multiple sources of eye-witness accounts, concerning unvarying regulations affecting the Peoples of the Book, perpetuated over the centuries from one end of the dar al-Islam to the other…proves sufficiently their entrenchment in customs.

[...]

Vryonis rejects categorically Lewis’s celebratory assessment with these deliberately understated, but cogent observations :

…in discussing the devshirme we are dealing with the large numbers of Christians who, in spite of the material advantages offered by conversion to Islam, chose to remain members of a religious society which was denied first class citizenship. Therefore the proposition advanced by some historians, that the Christians welcomed the devshirme as it opened up wonderful opportunities for their children, is inconsistent with the fact that these Christians had not chosen to become Muslims in the first instance but had remained Christians…there is abundant testimony to the very active dislike with which they viewed the taking of their children. One would expect such sentiments given the strong nature of the family bond and given also the strong attachment to Christianity of those who had not apostacized to Islam…First of all the Ottomans capitalized on the general Christian fear of losing their children and used offers of devshirme exemption in negotiations for surrender of Christian lands. Such exemptions were included in the surrender terms granted to Jannina, Galata, the Morea, Chios, etc…Christians who engaged in specialized activities which were important to the Ottoman state were likewise exempt from the tax on their children by way of recognition of the importance of their labors for the empire…Exemption from this tribute was considered a privilege and not a penalty…

Perhaps most concerning in the realm of dhimmitude have been Lewis’ inexplicably evolved views on the jihad genocide of the Armenians. His renowned The Emergence of Modern Turkey, originally published in 1962 (reissued in 1968 and 2002), includes these characterizations of the mass killings of the Armenians by the Turks in 1894-96, 1909, and 1915:
(1894-96, p. 202) The Armenian participants mindful of the massacres of 1894-96, were anxious to seek the intervention of the European powers as a guarantee of effective reforms in the Ottoman Empire [in the 20th century].
(1909, p. 216) With suspicious simultaneity a wave of outbreaks spread across Anatolia Particularly bad were the events of the Adana district, which culminated in the massacre of thousands of Armenians…While Europe was appalled by Turkish brutality, Muslim opinion was shocked by what seemed to them the insolence of the Armenians and the hypocrisy of Christian Europe. The Turks were, however, well aware of the painful effects produced by these massacres in Europe, which had not yet forgotten the horrors of the Hamidian repression [i.e, the 1894-96 massacres]

Thus when Lewis wrote his authoritative history of modern Turkey, he understood, and made explicit, that the Armenians had been massacred under successive Ottoman governments in 1894-96, and 1909. Moreover, he maintains that the Armenians were subjected in 1915 to a “holocaust”, during which 1.5 million “perished”. By 1985, however, Lewis was the most prominent signatory on a petition to the US Congress protesting the effort to make April 24- the date the Armenians commemorate the victims of the genocide—a nationwide Armenian-American memorial day, which would include the mention of man’s inhumanity to man. Both this petition drive and a simultaneous high profile media advertisement campaign were financed by the Committee of the Turkish Association. Vryonis has raised, unabashedly, the appropriate questions and accompanying concerns regarding Lewis’ actions:

When was Professor Lewis expressing an objective opinion: when he wrote the book [i.e., The Emergence of Modern Turkey, 1962/68 versions], or when he signed the political ad? To phrase it more bluntly, what shall we believe?

And Bat Ye’or reminds us why the Armenian genocide was a jihad genocide committed against a non-Muslim people “violating” the ancient dhimma, a “…breach…[which] restored to the umma [the Muslim community] its initial right to kill the subjugated minority [the dhimmis], [and] seize their property…”. Moreover, the massacres, were perpetrated solely by Muslims and they alone profited from the booty: the victims' property, houses, and lands granted to the muhajirun, and the allocation to them of women, and child slaves. The elimination of male children over the age of twelve was in accordance with the commandments of the jihad and conformed to the age fixed for the payment of the jizya. The four stages of the liquidation- deportation, enslavement, forced conversion, and massacre- reproduced the historic conditions of the jihad carried out in the dar-al-harb from the seventh century on. Chronicles from a variety of sources, by Muslim authors in particular, give detailed descriptions of the organized massacres or deportation of captives, whose sufferings in forced marches behind the armies paralleled the Armenian experience in the twentieth century.

Bernard Lewis possesses an enormous fund of knowledge regarding Islamic civilization accrued over a distinguished career of more than six decades of serious scholarship. A gifted linguist, non-fiction prose writer, and teacher, Lewis shares his understanding of Muslim societies in both written and oral presentations, with singular economy and eloquence. These are extraordinary attributes for which Lewis richly deserves the accolades lavished upon him in the recent spate of 90th birthday homages. And even Lewis’ detractors cannot deny his deep seated affection and genuine concern for the Muslim world. For example, Ian Buruma sees Lewis’ cheerleading role in relation to the war in Iraq as a manifestation of this phenomenon:

…perhaps he loves it too much. It is a common phenomenon among Western students of the Orient to fall in love with a civilization…His beloved civilization is sick. And what would be more heartwarming to an old Orientalist than to see the greatest Western democracy cure the benighted Muslim?

But Lewis’ remarkable contributions are diminished by a yawning gap in his understanding of dhimmitude, including an apparent unwillingness to even acknowledge this uniquely Islamic institution. His myriad works and addresses are largely devoid of the concerns for the dhimmis—past (here, and here ) present (here), and ominously, future (here)—Lewis freely expresses for their Muslim overlords. This critical limitation and its implications must also be recognized by all those for whom Lewis remains an iconic source of information, and advice.

Islamic Cartoons

Islam_6
Columnist writes Yvonne Ridley;

But, as we saw from the Danish cartoons -which were of an appalling quality, it is not funny when you target individuals simply because of their skin color or faith. When a gifted cartoonist hits the spot, naturally the image will literally zoom around the world courtesy of cyberspace. Such an image is winging its way into email inboxes at the moment, but the irony is so bitter I doubt if it will make you laugh. You can view it on the website mahjoob.com

Laugh Yvonne? No, it doesn't make me laugh. Calling the Danish cartoons appalling and this cartoon "ironic."

I love satire and irony, especially when it is done through clever caricatures, cartoons and comedians.
I think it was supposed to induce a wry grin, maybe a faint chuckle or a couple of guffaws. Instead, it provoked a train of thought which ended with a sigh and a shake of the head in total dismay

The soldier depicted is a US soldier. The writer of the article is a woman (from DailyMuslims.com) extolling the use of the image of rape as clever tool. This is sick, this mindset is evil and we have to snap out of our PC paralysis.

A Real "Haditha"

Serwan Shokir, the mayor of Qara Tappah, said one other person was wounded in the early morning attack. He said there were 26 people on three mini headed from his town to Baqouba, 35 miles northeast of Baghdad. The 12 slain students were apparently headed for Baqouba to take exams.  article here

Not a Single Jew left in Iraq

A sobering but salutary and very necessary reminder of what happened to Jews in Arab lands before Israel was restored:

Today marks the 65th anniversary of the Farhud. Arabic for ‘violent dispossession,’ this is the word used to describe the infamous pogrom of June 1, 1941, against the Jews of Baghdad. In its wake, the Farhud left some 200 dead, 2000 injured, and 900 Jewish homes destroyed. It was the beginning of the end of the Jewish community of Iraq, a community that had existed for twenty-six centuries, preceded Islam by a thousand years, and once numbered over 125,000 souls. Today, not a single Jew is left in Iraq. Read it all.

I am off to the Israel Day Parade. Will report back later.

France: "Go forth and stamp on their livers, soak the ground with their blood!"

The Religion of Peace spreads its message of peace and tolerance in France . Not.

  'Stamp on their livers!'

(WND) A 40-minute videotape released last week by an al-Qaida leader living in France exhorted French Muslims to rise up and punish France for what Anas al Liby calls France's disrespect for Islam.

According to al Liby, the French deserve destruction for France's prohibition on religious symbols. He named in particular the wearing of head coverings for Islamic women involved with government or educational institutions. French soil, he declared, must be reduced to "an ocean of blood." This event will signal "the beginning of the end of Western Civilization."

Al Liby concluded that France's disrespect for Islam was another example of Western contempt for Islamic values, so it's now time to apply those Islamic values and burn the country to the ground.

A 40-minute videotape released last week by an al-Qaida leader living in France exhorted French Muslims to rise up and punish France for what Anas al Liby calls France's disrespect for Islam.

Why don't they throw him out?

According to al Liby, the French deserve destruction for France's prohibition on religious symbols. He named in particular the wearing of head coverings for Islamic women involved with government or educational institutions. French soil, he declared, must be reduced to "an ocean of blood." This event will signal "the beginning of the end of Western Civilization."

Al Liby concluded that France's disrespect for Islam was another example of Western contempt for Islamic values, so it's now time to apply those Islamic values and burn the country to the ground.

Al Liby didn't stop with France. After rising up and reducing France to ashes, al Liby advised his followers to take the uprising to Norway and Denmark, who deserve punishment for allowing cartoon images of Muhammad to be published. He says the cartoons, which depicted Muhammad as the bloodthirsty founder of a violent religion that preaches hatred and jihad against infidels, were "offensive" to Muslims.

Speaking of "the prophet's perfect image," al Liby told his followers that the war against the West is no different than the war that Muhammad fought against unbelievers in his day.

Massive Terror Attack? Connect the Dots

It appears that there is a global web of terror tied to this most recent bust of  17 Canadian Muslims and the "dirty bomb" bust in London. The weaponry found in these raids are WMD, weapons of mass destruction. Big time. Before these recent raids,there were at least 18 related arrests already taken place in Canada, the United States, Britain, Bosnia, Denmark, Sweden, and Bangladesh. Hat tip Pastorius and LGF;

Canadian National Post: A Canadian counter-terrorism investigation that led to the arrests of 17 people accused of plotting bombings in Ontario is linked to probes in a half-dozen countries, the National Post has learned.

Well before police tactical teams began their sweeps around Toronto on Friday, at least 18 related arrests had already taken place in Canada, the United States, Britain, Bosnia, Denmark, Sweden, and Bangladesh.

The six-month RCMP investigation, called Project OSage, is one of several overlapping probes that include an FBI case called Operation Northern Exposure and a British probe known as Operation Mazhar.

“It was their intent to use it for a terrorist attack,” RCMP assistant commissioner Mike McDonell said.

“This group posed a real threat. It had the capacity and intent to carry out these attacks.”

It's easy to be global when the internet is Jihadi TerrorUniversity;

INTERNET CO-OPTED BY TERROR GROUPS

The Internet has emerged as "the virtual university of terrorism," the Simon Wiesenthal Center's Rabbi Abraham Cooper told a high-level international conference in Brussels last week.

Cooper, the associate dean of the Los Angeles-based center, said there were up to 600 "problematic sites," some of which carried anti-Semitic and racist messages while others even served as instruction manuals on how to make bombs and carry out terrorist attacks.

"Without any doubt, the Internet today has been co-opted by terrorist groups who present to all of us existential threats," he said, "and I believe we are only at the very beginning in civil society of grasping the enormity of that challenge."

Canada Terror Bust: Three tons ammonium nitrate

UPDATED: Massive terror attacks, globally:

Police also said they seized about three tonnes of the commonly used fertilizer ammonium nitrate. Just one-third of that material was used in the bombing of a U.S. federal building in Oklahoma City that killed 168 people in 1995. More here hat tip Norman

"This group holds a real and serious intent," RCMP Assistant Commissioner Mike McDonell told reporters.  Three tons of ammonium nitrate and still the leftards are in denial. Norman writes;

I think you might find the audio of the police news conference here as well. Of course they went out of their way to explain that these people were advocates of an "ideology" and were not members of any particular ethnic group, of course we will never be told they are Muslims. These guys have set up terrorist training bases up here, they purchased 3 tons of ammonium nitrate, (one ton was used in the Oklahoma bombing) and they were apparently going to attack on Monday.

More details coming in; "Did the US tell Canada to do this, or are they just rounding them up to send them south?" hat tip Drov

A group of [Muslims - the word the media dares not speak - Atlas]  Canadian residents inspired by al Qaeda and arrested for "terrorism related offenses" had amassed enough explosives to build huge bombs and were planning to blow up targets in Ontario, Canada's political and economic power center, police said on Saturday. UPDATE: StoptheACLU reports that these arrests were the result of internet monitoring.  The FBI are looking into ties between these terror suspects and some in the U.S. Go here now.   This goes to show just how effective programs like the NSA are. Hey Russ FoolFeingold & co., are you listening? Impeach Bush, my ass.

UPDATE: Have you guys been reading CUANAS this past week. Pastorius nailed it, connected the proverbial dots, as it were..Here's the gist of it, he writes me;

A week back the FBI and the Justice Dept announced that they were conducting "urgent" investigations into terror cells across the US, and in particular in NYC.

The next day, British intelligence made a similar announcement.

Then, we had the London raid and the toronto raid.

Clearly, something massive is in the works, spanning at least three major Western countries.

But, if canada is a target, why not france, holland, denmark, sweden, norway, and germany?

My guess is they are also targets.

An early report out of London also said that police had ordered a five mile no fly zone around the site of the bust. This might also indicate they suspect rocket launchers.

By the way, why did US and UK intelligence make announcement about ongoing "urgent" investigations.

The answer would be they feel they have lost control, so they are trying to intimidate terror cells into thinking they are all being watched.

Considering all major terrorist attacks since 9/11 have been on key dates, 3/11, 7/7, 7/21, I think we should look at what date is coming up

6/6/06

Do you think they might try to do something like this to spook us infidels?

Certainly. Also noteworthy,

Five of the seventeen suspects aarrested in the latest terror bust in Canada were under the age of seventeen. The suspects were all homegrown. They had never been to the Middle East, and had contact with recently arrested Muslims in Georgia (USA).

Two men charged last week in a terrorism case traveled to Washington D.C. to shoot "casing videos" of the Capitol building and other potential targets, a prosecutor alleged during a bail hearing.A 21-year-old Georgia Tech student and another man traveled to Canada to meet with Islamic extremists to discuss "strategic locations in the United States suitable for a terrorist strike," according to an affidavit made public Friday. An FBI agent's affidavit accused Sadequee and Ahmed, a 21-year-old Georgia Tech student, of meeting with at least three other targets of the FBI probe during a trip to Canada in March 2005. The men allegedly discussed attacks against oil refineries and military bases and planned to travel to Pakistan to get military training at a terrorist camp. More here

You remember Sadaquee..............I wrote of him him here back in April;

FROM ATLAS POST ,APRIL 22:
SADAQUEE IS BEING ARRAIGNED IN NY COURT RIGHT NOW [he came from Canada - do you remember now? - Atlas]

This morning, Sadequee arrived in Anchorage, Alaska, where he was brought before a United States Magistrate Judge and ordered removed to the Eastern District of New York.

The charge against Sadequee is serious - the lies he told impact issues of national security and were material to an ongoing terrorism investigation," said United States Attorney Mauskopf, here

19 year old Ehsanul Sadequeee and 21-year-old Georgia Tech student Syed Ahmed met with Islamic extremists to discuss "strategic locations in the United States suitable for a terrorist strike," according to an affidavit made public Friday.

Syed Haris Ahmed and Ehsanul Islam Sadequee, both U.S. citizens who grew up in the Atlanta area, met with at least three other targets of ongoing FBI terrorism investigations during a trip to Canada in March 2005, the FBI agent's affidavit said.

The affidavit said the men discussed attacks against oil refineries and military bases and planned to travel to Pakistan to get military training at a terrorist camp, which authorities said Ahmed then tried to do.

Ahmed told agents they had met with extremists and plotted how to disrupt military and commercial communications and traffic by disabling the Global Positioning System.

These are very young people. 21 year old from Georgia, five  suspects under the age 17 in Canada. This just in from France;

Islamic extremists in France are speeding up recruitment and reaching people younger and younger, according to a new intelligence report cited by a French newspaper Saturday.

The document said women are playing an increasing role in radicalizing fellow Muslims, but noted that extremists remain a very small minority, about 5,000 of the nation's 5 million Muslims, Le Figaro newspaper reported.

Radicalization is happening "faster and faster and younger and younger," said the document from the Renseignements Generaux, France's chief intelligence agency, according to Figaro. More here

More terror right now in London: POLICE HUNTING CHEMICAL "DIRTY" BOMB

British anti-terrorist police are hunting for a "dirty" chemical bomb that could be used in an attack in Britain after a major raid failed to uncover a device they believe exists, newspapers reported on Saturday.

More than 250 officers, some wearing chemical, biological and radiological protection suits, shot one man and arrested another during a dawn raid on an east London house on Friday.

The operation, one of the biggest since last July's suicide bombings in the capital, was prompted by suspicions that the house could have been used for making bombs or chemical weapons.

Some newspapers, citing unnamed security sources, said police believed suspected militants had made a "dirty" chemical device -- a conventional bomb surrounded by toxic material that could be set off by a bomber wearing a suicide jacket.

"We are absolutely certain this device exists and could be used either by a suicide bomber or in a remote-controlled explosion," one source told the Sun newspaper. More here

Pastorius asks me;

A commenter at IBA just pointed out that the date of Mohammed's death is 6-8. Could that be the date they are pushing for? It seems something is imminent.

Readers, help me out here. They had different calenders in the days of Mohammad. The Gregorian calender had not be invented, the Julian calender. Moderate Muslim readers (do I have any?), is June 8th the universally held date for Mohammed's death?

UPDATE: POLICE IN LONDON HUNTING CHEMICAL SUICIDE VEST:(hat tip Turn)

Man shot in dawn raid on suspected weapons factory Officers believe World Cup fans could be target of attack

A DESPERATE search is under way for a “chemical vest” that a British suicide bomber was ready to deploy in a terror attack on London. Police fear that the strike, using a home-made chemical device, was imminent after an informant told MI5 that he had seen the lethal garment at the home of two young men.

Last night detectives were at the hospital bedside of a 23-year-old postal worker shot during a pre-dawn raid on his parents’ home, while his younger brother, aged 20, was being questioned at Paddington Green high security police station.

UPDATE: A reader weighs in on the Mohammad date of death

There is absolutely no tradition of recording the prophet's date of birth or death in the Julian or Gregorian calendar. So June 8th has no significance at all.

The date in the islamic calendar is also disputed, but the most commonly given is 12 rabi-ul-awal, which has already passed this year.

6-6-6 should have no islamic significance at all, but jihadis watch horror movies too, so who knows...

Thanks Omar.

Shakespeare was Right, Iran knows It

Excellent. Toronto Sun (hat tip Bruce H)

In Shakespeare's most famous drama the Danish prince tragically perishes at the end in his effort to purge the kingdom of the evil of regicide with which the court compromised when the queen, Hamlet's mother, wed the murderer of the slain king.

In Hamlet's story, Shakespeare unravelled a microcosm of consequences thatHamlet_1 follow when an individual or people, knowingly or unknowingly, compromise with evil.

This is an abiding theme of the world's great literature, particularly European literature reaching back to the Greek classic of Sophocles in the story of Oedipus, the tragic king.

The rottenness alluded to in Hamlet and Oedipus, now found amply in Europe, is the tendency to compromise with evil. It is based on the ultimate utilitarian argument of weighing costs and benefits to conclude there is nothing worth fighting for.

Hence, in this view prevalent in Europe, it is absurd to defend freedom or believe that occasionally life might require preparedness to fight and sacrifice for freedom to prosper.

The causes for this rotten view spreading are many.

But the dominant explanation lies in the blood-letting Europe precipitated in two world wars.

[...]
In response to the deadliest wars of modern history, Europeans swore "never" to allow their peace, however unsettled or fragile, to be undermined by fighting for any cause irrespective of how worthy it might be.

The "never" would have been praiseworthy if it meant "never" to compromise with the enemies of freedom.

Through the decades of the Cold War against Soviet Communism, Europe was defended by the United States -- even though dishonest revisionists would have us believe otherwise.

Meanwhile, a great many European intellectuals, such as Jean-Paul Sartre or Gunter Grass, engaged themselves in support of Soviet Communism, made apologies for Stalinism or remained quietly as fellow-travellers of a mass-murdering global ideology, presented even today to new generations of dupes as a progressive movement.

The rottenness in the heart of contemporary Europe is the view that radical Islamism can be tamed, and diplomacy can bridge the difference between the West (and its values of freedom and democracy) and the hate-filled ideology of Islamism, espoused, for example, by the Iranian regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

For the past few years EU-3 (Britain, France and Germany) have engaged themselves with Iran over the nuclear issue, believing ayatollahs in Tehran and Qom, with their hand-picked politicians, can be appeased with carrots of peaceful nuclear technology if they renounce their ambition of acquiring nuclear weapons.

Iran instead has only raised the price for European surrender. Now Ahmadinejad threatens Europe with untold consequences if Iran's nuclear ambitions are thwarted.

The brazenness of Ahmadinejad's thuggish regime and that of the wide phalanx of radical Islamists comes from their belief that Europe has become unsettled by letting in the Trojan Horse of Islamism. The abject apology by many Europeans over Danish cartoons to those who rage and murder in the name of a religion was indicative of how greatly Europe is unsettled, and ready to appease those who send suicide-bombers for half a loaf of a contemptible peace.

Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from a religious conviction.         Blaise Pascal (1623 - 1662)

Nuclear Iran Defiant, Emboldened by Axis of Evil

What is in Russia's mind when it says it has ruled out use of force against Iran?  I will tell you.

"You have to play the best you can play. We can't stop Iran from  building nuclear weapons so try to be friends with Iran. That's what Russia is trying to be" -Nikolai Zlobin - World Security Institute

So that's how it is, eh? They mean for Iran to have a nuclear weapon. They are advocating diplomacy because you have to play nice with a country that has a nuclear weapon and Russia would like very much to dilute and diminish America's standing as the world's hyper power.Iran_death_us_israel_13

One Russian official was quoted as saying that the Kremlin would be only too happy to see the U.S. ensnared in another messy military venutre in the Middle East and to see Iran get it's hands on the bomb.

A senior American official said that in the negotiating sessions in Vienna this week, Soviet foreign Minister Lavrov was "very difficult" with Secretary Rice. She held her own but he didn't make it easy.

That's it. And Ahmadinejad is feeling the power. Emboldened. The US hasn't had talks with the Islamic Republic for 30 years but now the U.S. is offering talks. Iran went nuclear so they have us steppin' and fetchin." They have the world by the balls. So it does pay;

The efforts of some Western countries to deprive us will not bear any fruit," he said, according to the state news agency IRNA. "The reason of their opposition is not their claim of concern over nuclear weapons, but Iran's access to the technology that means opening of the way for all independent countries, especially Islamic countries to the advanced technology," he said after talks with the head of the Organization of the Islamic Conference. My sources inform me that, no surprise, there is a n Arab group, behind the scenes of this divestment, working furiously with the radical leftists and antiSemites in the PCUSA for the divestment program. Their goals are long range. They are quite happy that this issue has been legitimized and is "fashionable" on our elite university campuses. Their attitude is: it may not happen this year, but it will happen next year. We are strong and patient, the Zionists are and weak and do not have the strength of their convictions.

The fact that pro divestment groups have Jewish students in their ranks only serves to strengthen their convictions.

My Anonymous source is a brave person who risks a great deal by leaking this unsavory information to Seraphic Secret.

Jerusalem, 19 May (ENI)--A Palestinian Anglican priest, who has drawn criticism from Jewish and pro-Israeli Christian groups, has won a prestigious peace prize awarded by the Episcopal Church in the United States.

"Canon Naim Ateek's [rabidly anti-Israel Naim Ateek -Atlas] voice is heard around the world

Ateek will receive the Episcopal Peace Fellowship's John Nevin Sayre Award at the US church's annual convention in  Colombus, Ohio, being held from 12-21 June.

A former priest at Jerusalem's St George's Cathedral, Ateek is the founder of Sabeel, a movement of Palestinian Christians, which works with churches in North America and Europe to host regional and international conferences, witness trips to the Holy Land, and theological education.

We know Sabeel. The worst.

Ateek has been particularly critical of pro-Israeli Christians for acting against the interests of Middle East Christians. He held a conference in Jerusalem in 2004 for 600 visiting Christian delegates entitled: "Challenging Christian Zionism".

Sabeel institute has attracted controversy in Israel and among some Christian groups for  "being a driving force behind the campaign by mainline Protestant churches to divest from Israel," according to the U.S.-based Jewish Anti-Defamation League.

ARAB CANDIDATE SUES AFTER LOSING ENDORSEMENT OVER 9/11 COMMENTS - TOP
PATERSON, N.J. -- An Arab-American political candidate who was dumped by Passaic county Democratic leaders for comments some people interpreted as sympathetic to suicide bombers is suing to get on the ballot.

Democrats put forward Sam Merhi's name as a nominee for a county freeholder seat in the June 6 primary, but withdrew it in March amid political backlash from remarks Merhi made in 2002 about the 9/11 attacks.

Merhi, a Totowa businessman active in Democratic politics, said during a political fundraiser that he was outraged by the 9/11 attacks. When asked whether those feelings also applied to Palestinian suicide bombers in Israel, Merhi said he did not see a comparison.

He was running as a Democrat, mind you, in an overwhelmingly dhimmicrat state until the word got out about his 9/11 comments. Otherwise he would have slipped through the cracks unnoticed.

Vital Perspectives has the filth on McClosky here.

House Candidate, Supporter of Anti-Semitic Myths, Funded by Terror Financier Former California Rep. Pete McCloskey, running against Rep. Richard Pombo in Tuesday's GOP primary in an effort to regain a seat in Congress, is returning a $2,100 campaign donation he received from a man tied to al-Qaeda .

The money was from M. Yaqub Mirza, a Pakistan native living in Virginia, who has been investigated by the Justice Department for allegedly helping to finance al-Qaeda and Islamic Jihad. Mirza's offices were raided by federal authorities in March 2002.

McCloskey has courted support from the Muslim community, and also has criticized Israeli foreign policy and was a personal friend of former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. McCloskey is also chairman of the Council on the National Interest, a group dedicated to combating what it calls the "Israel lobby" in Washington (he should get together with Walt & Mearsheimer). In 2000, McCloskey gave a featured address to the Holocaust denial group Institute for Historical Review. In his speech, McCloskey lashed out at Jews for allegedly controlling the media and funding his defeat when he challenged Pete Wilson for U.S. Senate:

CAIR: MUSLIM CONGRESSIONAL AIDES TAKING STAND - TOP  AP

WASHINGTON -- At midday on Fridays, Muslims gather to pray in a basement room of the U.S. Capitol. Kneeling on sheets they've spread over the floor and facing east toward Mecca, they are members of the Congressional Muslim Staffers Association, about two dozen congressional aides who are part of a small but growing minority in America and in the halls of government.

At first just a prayer group, later a Muslim support group, the association is now looking outward to change what many see as woeful ignorance about Islam on Capitol Hill and beyond, said Jameel Aalim-Johnson, a black Muslim and chief of staff for Democratic Rep. Gregory Meeks of New York.

Some 100 non-Muslim congressional colleagues attended an association luncheon and the showing of part of a documentary on Islam in America. Visiting Imams from the Middle East recently met with association members.

The congressional chaplain's office consulted them about offering classes on Islam on Capitol Hill, said association member Nayyera Haq, daughter of Pakistani immigrants and spokeswoman for Rep. John Salazar, D-Colo."

That's not always easy to do.

Though there's no official count, the association says the number of congressional staffers who identify themselves as Muslim is little more than 20 out of some 10,000 employees at the Capitol complex.

There also is a smattering of Muslims at other Washington agencies, and some departments have consulted American Muslims for help with the counterterror war. Muslims have served as state legislators, but there is no member of Congress who identifies himself as a Muslim, said Corey Saylor, government affairs director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.(MORE)

Haditha: Who, What, When, Where, Why

Regardless of where the truth ultimately is, at this point the major media’s treatment of Haditha is little more than a literate lynch mob in a rush to judgment.

This isn’t an attempt to wiggle out of responsibility for anything that happened at Haditha by bashing the media. But, to be shocked there's gambling at Rick's, or that some innocents die in any war, especially when harboring and abetting the enemy, is ignorant and purposeful hypocrisy.

Among the only hard facts known is that the military took this incident seriously from the start by launching an investigation so thorough that even the hostile Iraqis in that village have given it respect. That’s more than media commentators give to our nation, its military, or the handful of Marines actually involved by trotting out inapplicable and inappropriate comparisons to My Lai, an exception itself, in order to bemoan and undermine our entire mission in Iraq. They can say all they want that they are trying to uncover facts, and they are, but the prominence and surrounding fluff is simply irresponsible.

Yesterday's early news would have caused one to believe that New York City was rolling in dough---or, more accurately, dinero.

Alan D. Aviles, the president of New York City's Health and Hospitals Corporation,  went out of his way to let illegal aliens know that local hospitals would be there to serve them, with no questions asked.

Aviles even  issued a letter to city residents in which he advised immigrants that local hospitals would keep all information, including immigration status, confidential.

However, New York's open wallet policy for criminals there illegally does not quite square with the city's reaction to the new Homeland Security budget.

More here in the NY Daily News

'The city was stunned yesterday to find that its share of federal anti-terror funds was slashed nearly in half by bureaucrats who said it has no national icons to protect and lousy defense plans.

The city will get $125 million from the feds' high-threat bank account, a 40% cut from the $207 million it received last year. The Homeland money pot was smaller overall this year, but the rest of the country is being trimmed just 14%.'

New York's Local, State Tax Burden Tops the Nation
By MARK JOHNSON
ALBANY - New York State tops the country in taxes collected by the state and local governments, siphoning off $5,260 per person a year, a business group said yesterday. New York's combined local and state tax burden was 53% above the national...

France:"I do not want any Jew to be afraid"

Then why we the cops told not to intervene when Jews inLe Marais were being terrorized? How can the Jews not be afraid?

On Wednesday, during his visit to the Rue des Rosiers (75003 Paris),Sarko_rosiers Interior and Religion Minister Nicolas Sarkozy promised to increase security in the predominantly Jewish area. He said: "I do not want any Jew to be afraid". More here

Paul Belian of  The Brussels Journal writes here;

Tensions between black Muslim immigrants and French Jews have been rising since another black gang, who call themselves “the Barbarians,” kidnapped Ilan Halimi, a 21-year old Jew, last February. Halimi was tortured for three weeks and subsequently murdered. Youssouf Fofana, the imprisoned leader of the gang that murdered Halimi, is acclaimed as a hero by groups such as Tribu Ka. Tribu Ka was founded by Kami Saba [Kémi Séba], a black Parisian who says he has been inspired by the Black Muslims in the United States.

Though a police officer admitted that the authorities knew the “tribe” was going to march through the Jewish neighbourhood last Sunday, as “it had been announced on the Tribu Ka internet site,” twenty minutes lapsed before the police arrived. According to a Jewish source a senior police officer, called to account by angry inhabitants of the Rue de Rosiers, said that the police “had received instructions from the top not to intervene.” The French authorities apparently did not want to provoke the thugs. As a result some Jews openly wonder whether the Jewish community should not organize its own militia.

Of course they should!

The authorities fear that provoking the thugs could trigger a new round of urban violence, similar to last November’s riots, in predominantly immigrant suburbs of major cities across France. The situation in the “banlieus” appears to be tense again. On Monday night around a hundred youths clashed with French police after setting fire to cars and rubbish bins in Clichy-sous-Bois, a Parisian suburb that was the scene of violence in November.

Fear of provoking thugs is not a strategy. It is a death wish.

China Calls for Sino-Arab-Hamas Axis

This continuing development in the axis of evil is hardly surprising. What is the common thread, the anti-value these countries share? Not one values human life (hat tip Daryl).

China seeks to expand trade, energy ties with Arab world
BEIJING : China called for closer Sino-Arab trade and energy ties as foreign ministers from the region, including the Palestinians' Hamas representative, gathered in Beijing for a two-day forum.

Israel/Pali Conflict: KNOW YOUR HISTORY!

Not that it's about truth, history or right and wrong. It's about Jew hatred plain and simple. Even so, know the truth.

Who Caused the Arab Refugee Problem? Refugee: Arab Leaders Told Us to Flee in 1948 - Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook
In another corroboration by an Arab refugee that it was Arab leaders who were responsible for the flight of Arabs from the new State of Israel in 1948, an elderly woman, Asmaa Jabir Balasimah Um Hasan, told the PA newspaper Al-Ayyam on May 16, 2006, that it was Arab leaders and not Israel who told her and her neighbors to flee, for tactical military reasons. "They told us: 'The Jews attacked our region and it is better to evacuate the village and return after the battle is over.'"
This confirms earlier statements that have appeared in the PA press. On April 30, 1999, an Arab viewer called PA TV and quoted his father and grandfather, complaining that in 1948 the Arab District Officer ordered all Arabs to leave Palestine or be labeled traitors. On March 19, 2001, columnist Fuad Abu Higla wrote in the official PA daily Al Hayat Al Jadida of Arab leaders "in the year of 1948, who forced us to leave, on the pretext of clearing the battlefields of civilians." It is well-known among Palestinians that Arab leaders bear responsibility for the mass flight of Arabs from Israel in 1948, and were the cause of the "refugee" problem. (Palestinian Media Watch)

Ahmadinejad Gets the Direct Talks He Wanted - Editorial
When Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad publicly released a long, insulting letter seeking direct talks with the U.S. last month, President Bush dismissed it as unworthy of reply. But Wednesday Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice delivered the real U.S. answer: Yes. In a surprising policy reversal, Rice offered to negotiate directly with Iran's mullahs if they first suspend all uranium enrichment and cooperate with UN arms inspectors. The Secretary of State seems to have convinced Bush - over the doubts of Vice President Cheney and others - that this was the only way to prevent the U.S. from being isolated as our European allies ran for cover and Russia resisted any UN sanctions.
Iran was already pocketing the direct talks and demanding that any negotiation be "without pre-conditions." This was entirely predictable, and you can bet this new Iranian demand will soon be echoed in Paris, Moscow, and all too many precincts in Washington. Iran's relentless drive for a nuclear weapon is a difficult problem, and perhaps Rice is right that direct diplomacy is essential to expose Iran's real purposes. But given Iran's track record, we'd say the Secretary has walked her President out on a limb where the pressure will soon build on him to make even more concessions. If this gambit fails, she'll have succeeded mainly in giving the mullahs more time to become a terrorist nuclear power. (Wall Street Journal)

New Rampages in Paris Burbs

Nidra Poller's Punk Jihad is back with a vengeance, second night of rioting here

Mobs on new rampage in poor Paris suburbs

MONTFERMEIL, France: Rioters hurling rocks clashed with police in the troubledFrance_suicide_jpg suburbs of northern Paris for a second night running, as authorities arrested a youth whose injury - along with the death of two friends - sparked last year's riots.

Fresh rioting had spread from nearby Montfermeil, where gangs attacked a police station, set ablaze cars and hurled stones at public buildings. Police said four officers were wounded, three of them trying to protect the Montfermeil police station from a hail of missiles.

French plot to kidnap Abu Hamza and save the World Cup

Exasperated by Britain’s failure to silence the Islamic preacher of hate, France considered drastic measures to protect itself from a terror attack, suggests The Suicide Factory

“PERHAPS we could snatch him off the street, kidnap him, take him to Paris and deal with him properly there.” hat tip Matthew

"The problem hampering all the plans – assassinations or kidnappings – was the attitude of the British authorities. Over lunch, Jérôme made it clear to Hassaine that while his contacts in the undercover worlds of MI5 and MI6 might be prepared to turn a blind eye to such an operation, there was unlikely to be any such help from the regular police. “We might get some help from the British,” he said, “but we will not get any help from the British law.”

In short, if anything went wrong, all hell would break loose. If there were a gunshot, if Abu Hamza were injured, if a traffic policeman stopped the kidnap vehicle – if just one thing tripped up, there would be a huge diplomatic incident. Suicde_factory What the French were proposing was to kidnap a British citizen in London and take him to face justice in France. The scandal could be bigger than the blowing up of the Greenpeace ship Rainbow Warrior in New Zealand in 1985. But such was the level of French frustration – from the Minister of the Interior downwards – with the British that all options were being countenanced.      As far as the French were concerned, the British had entered into a Faustian pact with the extreme Islamist groups assembled in London. They were free to organise, propagandise and speak, as long as there was no threat and no trouble on British soil. Abu Hamza seemed to enjoy a friendly relationship with MI5 and Scotland Yard’s intelligence wing, the Special Branch. They called him regularly, invited him for meetings and were generally on cordial terms."

Apparently the British aren't listening to Melanie Phillips either.

Noam Chomsky, Terror Tool

New York Times bedmate Noam Chomsky lovefest with Hizbollah - video here

Chomsky: "The United States considers Hizbullah a terrorist organization, but the term terrorism is used by the great powers simply to refer to forms of violence of which they disapprove. So the U.S. was of course supporting the Israeli invasions and occupation of southern Lebanon. Hizbullah was instrumental in driving them out, so for that reason they are a terrorist organization."

There is no way this complete shit should be allowed back into this country.

Iran Rapes and Tortures Dissident Women

Do you think the jihadi organ, The New York Times,  had rape and torture in mind in their Sunday puff piece where they repeatedly trumpeted Ahmadinejad as “a proponent of women’s rights,” and claimed Ahmadinejad “challenged high-ranking clerics on the treatment of women,”or that he has “defended women in a way that put him outside the mainstream of conservative Islamic discourse.”  Of course, the “mainstream of conservative Islamic discourse” takes a rather dim view of “women’s rights.”

The jihadi New York Times  painted Ahmadinejad as an “ideologically flexible” leader who seeks a “dialogue.”  and also described Ahmadinejad’s “consistent theme” as “the concept of seeking justice.” More here

Iran Rapes and Tortures Dissident Women From the Telegraph:

A leading Iranian pro-democracy and women's activist, who was jailed on trumped-up charges last year, has revealed how the clerical regime cynically deploys systemic sexual violence against female dissidents in the name of Islam.

Roya Tolouee, 40, was beaten up by Iranian intelligence agents and subjected to a horrific sexual assault when she refused to sign forced confessions. It was only when they threatened to burn her two children to death in front of her that she agreed to put her name to the documents.

Perhaps just as shocking as the physical abuse were the chilling words of the man who led the attack. "When I asked how he could do this to me, he said that he believed in only two things - Islam and the rule of the clerics," Miss Tolouee told The Sunday Telegraph last week in an interview in Washington after she fled Iran.

"But I know of no religious morality that can justify what they did to me, or other women. For these people, religion is only a tool for dictatorship and abuse. It is a regime of prejudice against women, against other regimes, against other ethnic groups, against anybody who thinks differently from them."

Miss Tolouee's account of her ordeal confirms recent reports from opposition groups that Iranian intelligence officials use sexual abuse against female prisoners as an interrogation technique and even rape young women before execution so that they cannot reach heaven as virgins.

Few women from the Islamic world are willing to discuss such matters, even with each other, but Miss Tolouee said that the regime routinely committed sexual attacks against female detainees....

"Four armed men and three armed women barged into my house at night and took me away," she said. "My kids were terrified and crying. I was questioned all night by different interrogators and then thrown alone into a cell."

She was held in solitary confinement in the prison of the feared internal intelligence service, with only a blanket and a cup that often had to serve as a lavatory.

For the first six nights, she was taken to a basement where interrogators demanded that she admit to organising the protests, and also that she identify co-conspirators on a list of names they put to her.

"When I wouldn't do what they wanted, they slapped me. But after the sixth night, the routine changed. I was left alone in a small dark room with two men. One was the assistant prosecutor and called himself Amiri. The other had a filthy mouth and said terrible things. They started slapping me again. For the rest of the night they did to me what no woman should ever experience. Amiri said, 'I'm going to hang you, but before I hang you, I will make an example of you so that no woman will dare to open her mouth here again'." He then sexually assaulted her.

When she asked Amiri how he could act like that, he told her that only Islam and clerical rule were important to him. The attack left her badly bruised and bleeding internally, but she refused to sign the papers they put before her. To her assailants' fury, she demanded to see a lawyer and cited international treaties on human rights.

The following night they did not sexually molest her again as she was still bleeding - and hence "unclean". Instead, they told her that they would kill her children by setting them on fire before her eyes.

Meanwhile, the world may be saved from a nuclear holocaust by a popular uprising now occuring across Iran and essentially unreported in the mainstream news media. More over at The IRIS blog

These women, these heroes, take their life in their own hands when they dissent by speaking out, by marching, by talking to other women  but they do it anyway. During a conversation I had with Phyllis Chesler, she told me of the phone calls she had gotten back in March from women in the international community and from Iran asking what Phyllis thought should they go to the annual march -- Women of Iran for the commemoration of International Women's Day in Tehran to fight for our freedom from under the rule of the misogynist Mullahs Date: March 8th, 2006 Time: 16:30 p.m. Place: Laleh Park, Tehran -- Phyllis said NO, they shouldn't go. And while Chesler is a  huge proponent of freeing women of the brutality of Islamic life, she advised them not to go because she feared for their lives. And Phyllis is a warrior in the a war on Islam - she is in the pantheon of truth tellers, along with Bat Ye'or, Nidra Poller, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Melanie Phillips, Brigitte Gabriel ......

Despite the danger, despite the threats, the women in Iran went. . They went and got beaten, stomped, harassed. "We have reached a level where women on the streets are being killed," Amiri said. That story here

Suspected Collaborators Executed by Palestinians

Masked Al Aksa Martyrs' Brigades gunmen on Tuesday publicly executed a Palestinian man and woman they suspected of having spied for Israel.Alaqsadragsinformer

The man was shot dead in the main street of a refugee camp, with a large crowd looking on. The woman was later shot to death by her relatives in the courtyard of the West Bank's largest hospital.

The Aksa Martyrs' Brigades, an offshoot of Palestinian Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah movement, accused Jafal Abu Tzrur, 24, of having informed the IDF where to find three of its members. The three were killed by IDF troops during a raid on the Balata refugee camp near Nablus earlier this year.

Al Aksa gunmen interrogated Abu Tzrur, claimed he confessed and then dragged him into Balata's main street. As a large crowd looked on, the gunmen threw Abu Tzrur to the ground, witnesses said. When he tried to get up, the gunmen killed him with several shots, the witnesses said.  Read the whole article here

Dhimmi EU Hurts War on Islamic Terror

The elite ruling class of the European Union once again shows great stupidity here...... a limitless resource which shows no sign of abating;

The European Court of Justice has annulled an EU-US agreement requiring airlines to transfer passenger data to the US authorities.
The court said the decision to hand over the data, including addresses and credit card details, lacked an "appropriate legal basis".

The US says the information helps identify potential terrorists.

The Goddess Fallaci and Lefty Loser New Yorker

The brain damaged New Yorker (the once great, venerable, brilliantly written instittution turnedOriana_fallaci_3_3 lefty terror enabling tool) has an nterview with Orianna Fallaci here. It is unworthy of Fallaci and her work, and while Maragret Talbot tempered her contempt, Fallaci's much needed message was marginalized  and dishonestly portrayed. I hated it. Talbot's pull quotes from Fallaci's work were the ones that sounded worst out of context. It kicks off with

“Yesterday, I was hysterical,” the Italian journalist and novelist Oriana Fallaci said. She was telling me a story about a local dog owner and the liberties he’d allowed his animal to take in front of Fallaci’s town house, on the Upper East Side. Big mistake. “I no longer have the energy to get really angry, like I used to,” she added. It called to mind what the journalist Robert Scheer said about Fallaci after interviewing her for Playboy, in 1981: “For the first time in my life, I found myself feeling sorry for the likes of Khomeini, Qaddafi, the Shah of Iran, and Kissinger—all of whom had been the objects of her wrath—the people she described as interviewing ‘with a thousand feelings of rage.’ ”

So you get the flavuh of how they paint her.

I reqeusted an intervew with Fallaci months ago but I am not ginormous enough.  But thes mainstream media  pieces do Fallaci little good to advance the  cause of exposing Islam and the gravity their intentions.

Read her books and make up your own mind:

Culture of Life vs. Culture of Death

Why do they hate us? Because we love life. Why do they hate us? Because we are all of us in the gutter, but so many of us in the West are reaching for the stars. Why do they hate us?  Because we live for life and they live to die and fuck 72 virgins.

In Jewish life, the toast when drinking, the toast when saluting those getting bar/bat mitvahed or married...........the toast of life is L'Chaim (to life.) This is our mantra - our manifesto. To life. Everything the Jew does is to better life. Tikun Olam (repair the world.) In Jewish life, there is an exurberance for life. A joie, a passion, a wild happiness...........we do not exalt death. We study medicine, science, technology so that life will be better, healthier longer. Michaya! But who is regulating Evil Google?

G-d I am so sick of the these lucky leftarded Jewhating Jew owners of Google. They think themselves enlightened, when in fact we know them to be idiots. Real, dyed in the wool, idiotarians;

It should be noted that websites from The Ku Klux Klan, The American Nazi Party, The New Black Panther Party, al Manar (the terrorist group Hezbollah's "news" website) and The Mazui Foundation – that offers a t-shirt that says "Kill Whitey" for $15 – are currently included in Google's search engine index. It should further be noted that The New Media Journal pieces cited by Google as "hate speech" are still available on Google through other publications.

It's a dangerous thing when those who identify themselves as disseminators of unbiased information begin to establish definitions for the rest of us. One man's "hate speech" is another man's dissent. While some, or many, may disagree with the information presented in any given publication (I personally was offended by the untrue stories published by Newsweek of Qurans being flushed down toilets and by Dan Rather and Mary Mapes attempting to pass off manufactured news as the truth) it is still in the interest of preserving free speech that all information be presented, so the public can decide for itself. UPDATE: Oh yeah and did you catch this -- GOOGLE is evil

Google disses Memorial day
Search engine's catchy holiday logos have honored
Earth Day, Persian New Year – but not war dead

Google's habit of celebrating holidays like New Year's, Halloween, Christmas and Thanksgiving by altering its logo to match the season's theme has been extended in the past to honor the birthdays of famous inventors, scientists, artists and musicians, as well as Earth Day and the Persian New Year, but on the day Americans honor those who died serving their country, it's business as usual at the Internet-search giant.

Memorial Day visitors to the website found Google's standard logo – but no mention of Memorial Day. This was true as well at the company's news-search site.

Since 1999, Google has redesigned its logo for major holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving, as well as minor ones like Ground Hog Day and St. Patrick's Day. It's even honored artists like Picasso, Monet, and Andy Warhol as well as Earth Day and the Burning Man festival.

"If you go back through the Google archives, you'll find that, although it has over the years commemorated Shichi-go-san being celebrated in Japan, Bastille Day in France, and Korean Liberation Day, it appears that Google has never dressed up its logo for Memorial Day," wrote Newsbusters blogger Noel Sheppard.

When Google News launched its beta site in April 2002, it said its mission was to construct an unbiased news engine free of human intervention using new methods of aggregating news from sources worldwide.

According to the April Nielsen/NetRatings report, 49 percent of all searches conducted in the U.S. in March 2006 were carried out on Google.

Last week, WorldNetDaily reported Google's decision to ban several Internet news sites from its search archives because of their criticism of radical Islam.

Along with the dropping of conservative news providers, Google has received other complaints of liberal bias:

In addition, the company came under fire for an editorial decision to giving preferential placement to large and predominately liberal media outlets such as CNN and the BBC over conservative news sources, even if they are more recent or pertinent.

As WND reported, 98 percent of all political donations by Google employees went to support Democrats, and as a matter of fact, Al Gore is now a senior adviser to Google.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt gave the maximum legal limit of donations to Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry and to primary candidate Howard Dean.

Schmidt also contributed the maximum amount to Sen. Clinton.

Shame shame shame on you brothers

One Smart Brit's Take on Eurabia

Matthew, our man in Britain, and I have had something of a back and forth on the distressing state of affairs in Europe. His last correspondence deserves attention. While it may not change our perception of th decay, it is interesting to see it through their deluded eyes;

The way I see it is this.  European societies face a problem in that the Muslim populations in their midst are growing at a faster rate than the native population.  Over time, the proportion of those societies made up of Muslims is going to increase. It's often said that one consequence of this is that Europeans adopt a spineless attitude towards Islamic terrorism, attempting to appease it rather than address it, for fear of provoking civil unrest in their own countries.  This invertebrate attitude on the part of Europeans is cited as something that will lead to the inevitable downfall of their civilisation and, maybe within our lifetimes, their eventual partial or total submission to an Islamic way of life with all the horrors that brings.  It's seen as a suicidal strategy, born of weakness.

I think that analysis is correct, but it omits some important matters.

Europeans don't have any affection for Muslims.  To take one of the countries at most risk of this Islamic timebomb, the French are pretty intolerant of Muslims. They're pretty intolerant of everyone who isn't French.  I know quite a number of people who have lived and worked in France for at least a decade and they're still seen as outsiders, still treated differently, still not fully accepted even by their French 'friends' (despite being bilingual, having French husbands or wives, etc.).  This is as true (more true in fact) of the English than the Americans working in France.  Among the French people I know well enough to discuss these things openly with, the general attitude towards Muslims is usually somewhere along a spectrum between complete incomprehension to contempt.  There are some who think they, collectively, should make more of an effort to integrate Muslims into the mainstream of French life, but there's no equivalent of that perverse self-flagellation you see among American and British politicians on the left.  You can see the effects of this attitude everywhere in France.  Muslims generally live in the worst parts of town, in which any French person who could afford it wouldn't dream of living. I've never met a Muslim (or a black, or an Asian) French lawyer.  So far as I'm aware none work in our office out there or in our competitors'.  I have never seen an Arab in any professional role in France and I must have visited Paris at least twenty times.  If they work in the centre of town, they're in pretty menial jobs.  That isn't the case in London, and in my experience it's not the case in New York either.

I think the reason for this is that French culture, and European culture generally, is radically different from American and, to a lesser extent, British culture.  What I adore about the United States is that anyone can be an American.  In my eyes the values that define the United States are such that they're open to anyone.  Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are universal values and aspirations from which everyone, everywhere, at any point in time, can derive inspiration and can use to build a better life. Europe's nothing like that, France in particular. French culture isn't one based on ideals of freedom and personal achievement but on birth, class, status, refinement in matters of taste, humour, attitude, getting ahead, and protecting your own ass. Importantly, it's also based on geography.  Nobody born in Italy could, or would consider, or would ever be described as, living like Frenchman.  In contrast, an American or a potential American you can spot a mile off.  American culture is potentially universal; French culture is confined to a time and a place.

Another point is that, to adapt the term, France is a RINO country - a republic in name only.  Under the veneer of democracy and rights and freedoms, it behaves like a monarchy.  To get into the government you need the right background, need to have gone to the right school, look right, say the right things. Moreover, like all monarchies, it is a characteristic of public administration in France that it is monopolised by a particular caste, is plagued with infighting among the 'courtier' class, and features a more or less total lack of financial or legal accountability on the part of those in charge.  To varying extents this is true of all European countries, which explains why most Europeans aren't overly concerned about the lack of democratic or financial accountability in the institutions of the European Union.  It's because they're not even concerned about it in their own countries.  Above all, as in all old European countries, what's important if you're French is being French, not being free.  It thus makes sense for Europeans to say "X is very French" / "very English" / "very German" in a way that it doesn't make a lot of sense to say that "X is very American".  It does make sense to say "she's such a New Yorker" but that's a comment about ways of thinking, speaking, working, dressing, tastes, etc. It's not an observation about core values.  In Europe, ways of thinking, speaking, working, dressing, and taste, is all the values there are.  What I think distinguishes European culture from American is that it's more concerned with things that are, ultimately, trivialities.  It lacks any concern with what we think of as the big issues in life - how free am I, how much money has the government taken from me this fiscal year (and for what freakin purpose?) am I able to live my life as I please, am I better off than I was last year, what are the threats to my security, what are the threats to the security of my country, and so on. It's perverse that Europeans characterise Americans as introverted; it's the Europeans who are the most introspective of all.  Europeans generally see these issues as questions for someone else (the government). In their political thinking probably what distinguishes Europeans from Americans above all else is that Europeans are totally unwilling to accept any personal responsibility for making decisions which affect the future of their countries so long as the problems their countries face are not currently affecting them personally.  Government, in Europe, is seen as something that just happens to you.

In the context of this Islamic problem, I think the apparent spinelessness of Europeans and their governments is probably best understood as a manifestation of the general sentiment that if these problems are not affecting most people personally, (a) they don't feel any motivation for doing anything about them and (b) largely they don't even see them. Clearly this is an idiotic attitude to adopt, but unlike freedom, which we see as a universal value and we can see as threatened by and in Muslim societies, core French values are particular to France.  Likewise with almost every other European society. The lack of any serious emotional commitment to freedom among Europeans means that Europeans simply don't notice or care about future threats to their freedom that are looming on the horizon.  What they would care about, however, is actual disruption to their own (myopic and self-indulgent) way of life.

Take an absurd character like De Villepin.  If all the little De Villepins in France, who are now growing up and looking forward to attending L'Ecole Nationale d'Administration, found their paths somehow blocked by Muslims they'd be seriously angry.  If all the characteristics of the French way of life which one can't avoid noticing when visiting France were to be displaced by Muslim habits and attitudes, the French would be angry.  But, because they lack the commitment to the universal outward-looking value of freedom, I bet you your bottom dollar that, unlike us, they wouldn't notice the threat to their own way of life until the threat started manifesting itself in actual disruption to it.

What happens at that point is the issue I was drawing attention to in my post.  I think that, were European societies to get to the point where the native population's sense of its own identity was actually being damaged by Muslim influences, there would be a very visceral and violent reaction to those Muslim influences.  This is because it's only at that point that we can expect Europeans to react to Muslims at all.  You or I can look at the Taleban (and not just Muslims but also, say, the Chinese) and even from thousands of miles away see them as antipathetic to our whole way of life, and a genuine menace.  So long as communists and Islamic fanatics exist, our core value - freedom - is under threat, in a way that Frenchness is not threatened by the existence of those regimes.

I think two consequences flow from this.

1.  The likelihood that European societies won't do anything about their Muslim problems until such problems begin to actually disrupt the 'native' European culture means that any attempts to address these problems will take place at a time when there are far more Muslims in Europe than there are today. This is likely to make the eventual 'reckoning' more serious and may lead to some sort of civil conflict.

2.  The lack of any real commitment to freedom means that the European reaction to the Muslim problem, when it finally does emerge, will be less restrained than the reaction in the United States.  We can characterise these issues as a fight between freedom and tyranny; the French will only be able to characterise it between Frenchness and an Islamic identity.  That would make it more personal and specific to them, and more nation- and racially-based, than looking at it in terms of freedom-tyranny makes it to us.  Same goes for all the European countries, and we know from bitter experience that people fighting to preserve their national or racial identity fight dirty.

Summarising:

1.  European culture is more specific to national and racial characteristics, and geography, than is American culture.
2.  In any area of European life you care to look at, Europeans tend not to concern themselves with the wider world.
3.  As a result, Europeans will only deal with problems when they present a real upclose serious problem to their lives.
4.  Re. the Muslims, this is only going to happen when the number of Muslims in Europe is much larger than it is today.
5.  Any conflict at that point is going to be tougher than it would be were it to occur today, on the numbers alone.
6.  Europeans, if there were to be such a conflict, will see it in national and racial terms because those are mainly the terms in which they see themselves. 7.  Conflicts motivated by national or racial issues tend to be bloody and unrestrained.

What's screwing Europe at the moment is apathy and a deadly unawareness of the nature of the problem at the level of the individual citizen, not any misplaced affection or tolerance for Islam.  Some of the political class might see the problem but, if their people don't, there's no mileage to be had by putting their countries on a war footing.  Doing so would be seen as a disruptive and expensive response to a problem that their people lack the cultural tools to even be aware of at the moment.  Essentially they just don't get it.

Matthew gives much to chew on. Fascinating . But frankly I am so quintessentially American I can not relate to any of it. It's not so much that they are apathetic to, or ignoring the 800 lb gorilla in the room................what irks me is they are paying the jiyza. All public schools serve meat that's halal. The French government funds Islamic schools. And still they won't stop  immigration. The birth rates are a different problem with enormous consequences, yes. But every move they make is another bullet in a suicidal gun.

Spain Becoming Favored Destination for Palestinians

Mohammed Zaghal and his friends have no doubt about where they would rather be: Spain. Since the Islamic group Hamas won Palestinian elections in January, the number seeking to escape has risen sharply, locals say. "Everyone in Jenin just wants to get out," says Zaghal, 24, who used to work in Israel until a Palestinian uprising began.

Zaghal's brother Fida, 26, is already in Spain. He is now getting financial support and receiving Spanish lessons. Some have told Spanish authorities that they are supporters of Fatah, Hamas' rival, and that they need asylum to escape Hamas threats.

Fleming Rose: Europe's Politics of Victimology

This is a must read essay by Fleming Rose, the editor of Jylland Posten, the Danish newspaper that first ran the Danish cartoons. Read it all at RealClearPolitics here (hat tip Rick)

The worldwide furor unleashed by the cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed that I published last September in Jyllands-Posten, the Danish newspaper where I work, was both a surprise and a tragedy, especially for those directly affected by it. Lives were lost, buildings were torched, and people were driven into hiding.

And yet the unbalanced reactions to the not-so-provocative caricatures -- loud denunciations and even death threats toward us, but very little outrage toward the people who attacked two Danish Embassies -- unmasked unpleasant realities about Europe's failed experiment with multiculturalism. It's time for the Old Continent to face facts and make some profound changes in its outlook on immigration, integration, and the coming Muslim demographic surge. After decades of appeasement and political correctness, combined with growing fear of a radical minority prepared to commit serious violence, Europe's moment of truth is here.

Europe today finds itself trapped in a posture of moral relativism that is undermining its liberal values. An unholy three-cornered alliance between Middle East dictators, radical imams who live in Europe, and Europe's traditional left wing is enabling a politics of victimology. This politics drives a culture that resists integration and adaptation, perpetuates national and religious differences, and aggravates such debilitating social ills as high immigrant crime rates and entrenched unemployment.

I don't think it will be long before Fleming Rose joins Ayaan Hirsi Ali in crossing the Atlantic.

Atlas Insomniacs! Bostom is on the Air

For me the timing couldn't be better, Atlas readers know I do my best work at 4 am. It's not exactly choice viewing times (aarrggghh) for normal people, but Andrew Bostom, the most respected, sagacious scholar on Islam is on the air nonetheless! Bostom sugarcoats nothing and gives us encyclopedic evidence of a jihad that means to destroy the West. Bostom points out that there is not one, not one, hadith that speaks to a spiritual jihad. Bostom tells it straight - which is why he is my number onr source of intel on Islam - but you knew that.

Cartoon Jihad:The Religious War Rages

America may not care but the religious war is raging and there is no way America can remain insulated;

Religious Mobs Break Out Again in Nigerian Cities

The religious violence first broke out last Saturday in the northeastern city ofDo_not_censor_me_4 Maiduguri, when a Muslim protest against Danish cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad ran out of control and 28 mostly Christian people were killed.

But the violence has taken on a logic of its own in Africa’s most populous country, which is divided roughly equally between Muslims in the north and Christians in the south. Religious violence has killed thousands over the past six years.

Authorities are afraid the fighting could spiral into a bigger bloodbath and hundreds of armed riot police patrolled major cities across the north.

Muslim and Christian mobs killed four people in three Nigerian cities on Friday, extending a week of tit-for-tat religious riots that have claimed at least 151 lives.

And while violent maelstrom is in Nigeria, they are kidnapping foreigners;

In the far south of the country, militants in the oil-producing Niger Delta have waged a three-month campaign of attacks and kidnappings, which has cut supplies from the world’s eighth largest oil exporter and driven up world prices.[you thnk the leftards in America will cite this as one of the reasons for higher gas prices or is it still "big oil in the White House?- Atlas]

They issued pictures of nine foreign oil worker hostages -- three Americans, one Briton, two Thais, two Egyptians and one Filipino -- on Thursday night. One photograph showed the captives sitting on a bench in a forest with militants in army fatigues pointing assault rifles at their heads.

BUSH at West Point: Long War Just Started

Bush understands the enemy........but is reticent to call it by it's right name, IMAO. His speech to the West Point graduates who were the first to enter the elite Army school after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacksf is seminal.

Bush Tells West Point Graduates Terror War Is in Early Stages

President George W. Bush, marking the fourth anniversary of his doctrine of preemptive military force, said the war against terrorism is in its early stages and will rival the Cold War in its length and difficulty.

``The war began on my watch, but it's going to end on your watch,'' Bush said in a commencement address today to 861 graduating cadets at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. ``One day the world will celebrate your achievements,'' he said, acknowledging ``setbacks and challenges'' in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere.

Bush alluded to Iran and Syria as governments that aren't adopting democratic principles. ``The message has spread from Damascus to Tehran that the future belongs to freedom, and we will not rest until the promise of liberty reaches every people and every nation,'' he said.

Bush compared the spread of communism during the Cold War to the more recent rise of Islamic radicalism, recalling the pressure Democratic President Harry Truman was under sending troops around the world in a ``struggle between tyranny and freedom.''

``Like America in Truman's day, we are laying the foundation for victory,'' Bush said. Terrorists armed with weapons of mass destruction post a threat ``as great as the Soviet Union.''

Today's West Point graduates were the first to enter the elite Army school after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Speaking at the academy in June 2002, Bush said the Cold War policy of deterrence ``means nothing against shadowy terrorist networks'' and America must ``be ready for preemptive action when necessary to defend our liberty and to defend our lives.'' Ten months later the U.S. invaded Iraq and toppled its then-leader Saddam Hussein. More here

" Our Strength is the Willingness to Sacrifice Our Blood & Children"

Hizbullah Secretary-General Sheikh Nasrallah Speech on Al-Manar TV: The Zionist Entity's Weakness is "Their Strong Adherence to This World"... Our Strength is the Willingness to Sacrifice Our Blood & Children... They Will Leave the Land

MEMRI provides the following  excerpts from a speech delivered by Hizbullah secretary-general Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, which aired on Al-Manar TV (Google news provider) on May 23, 2006.

Hassan Nasrallah: "This [Zionist] entity, which has many strengths - I don't have time now to list them all - has weaknesses as well. One of its most important weaknesses is the fact that it is an extraneous entity. It is not deeply rooted.

"Another weakness of this entity is that its people came because they were promised security, peace, and a life in the land of milk and honey. But if they encounter something else, they will leave this land.

"Another weakness is that both as individuals and as a collective, they are described by Allah as 'the people who guard their lives most.' Their strong adherence to this world, with all its vanities and pleasures, constitutes a weakness.

"In contrast, our people and our nation's willingness to sacrifice their blood, souls, children, fathers, and families for the sake of the nation's honor, life, and happiness has always been one of our nation's strengths."[...]

"A year ago today I said, in Bint Jbeil, that the resistance has more than 12,000 missiles. When I say 'more than 12,000 missiles,' it doesn't mean 13,000. It doesn't mean 13,000... I acknowledge that for many years - since 1992, to be precise - the resistance has had a significant and respectable missile capability, both in quantity and quality. Therefore, I can tell you that the north of occupied Palestine is entirely within the range of the missiles of the Lebanese resistance.

"This, of course, is the minimum. As for reaching beyond the north - the less said the better. We have no reason to say whether or not we have such capabilities. Let's keep quiet about this.

"Today the north is within the range of the missiles of the resistance - their ports, their bases, their factories, everything... This creates a balance between the north of Palestine and the south of Lebanon and Lebanon in its entirety."[...]

"Today, if I appear on TV... If I am talking to you and it is aired on TV, and I say to the people of the settlements in the north of occupied Palestine: "On behalf of Hizbullah, I recommend that you go down to the bomb shelters within two hours," they would all go to Tel Aviv." More here at MEMRI

Two States? Barbaric Foreign Policy

I like Youssef Ibrahim, he understands the realities in the Middle East better than most Jews or "intellectuals" in the free world. And frankly, in any compromise between good and evil, only evil can profit. Ibrahim speaks to  biting, straight, unblinking truth in The New York Sun (Paid only)

A Two State Disaster

A new Palestinian state, carved out of Gaza and the West Bank and governed by Palestinian Arab jihadists, would be a recipe for disaster. Indeed, drawing up a two-state solution now would be tantamount to opening the gates to barbarians.

A former director of the Central Intelligence Agency, James Woolsey, was on target when he warned that a hastened pullout would unleash a wave of Islamic fundamentalist terror on Israel as well as Arab lands, without resolving anything for Palestinian Arabs.

The notion that unilateral withdrawal by Israel from parts of the West Bank would lead to peace and Palestinian statehood constitutes “flawed logic,” Mr. Woolsey wrote in the May 23 edition of the Wall Street Journal.

Spot on. Palestinian Arabs are far from ready to run anything — let alone a country in the tinderbox that is the Middle East.

A few days ago, Egypt asserted that the perpetrators of the most recent deadly bombings of tourist resorts in the Red Sea, as well as those of two other attacks since 2004 that killed more than 100 and wounded hundreds more, were trained, equipped, and “weaponized” ideologically as well as physically by Muslim Palestinian jihadists in Gaza and the West Bank.

[...]
That is only the tip of the iceberg.    A new Palestinian Arab state, governed by Palestinian jihadists, would fling open doors to a potpourri of anarchists, assassins, and killers. It is tantamount to laying down a welcome mat for Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah pro-Iranian activists, Saudi Wahhabi preachers of darkness, Iraqi messengers of insurgency, and Muslim Sunni and Shiite fanatics, along with Muslim Brotherhood angels-of-death types, including European and Pakistani Muslims — all competing for hearts and minds in a seriously dysfunctional Palestinian and broader Arab society .

Nation-building is too serious a business to come to that. No responsible party can give such people an area of operation under the name of Palestine.Jihad is already an ideology to a lot of Muslims, indeed an obsession. There is no need to add more bats to a dark night. We already have the government of Saudi Arabia doing enough harm as it is.
Should anyone allow this, Israel will be the last to suffer from it. With superb intelligence management, technology, and informant apparatus, it will take care of itself. The question should instead be about the Arabs who live in places like Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, and beyond.
[...]  Giving Muslim fundamentalists a base in Palestine from which to operate and finish off these dying regimes would be unconscionable.    A two state Palestinian-Israeli solution may be possible one day. But not today. The Palestinian Arabs, who just elected a radical, mindless, bloody Islamic fundamentalist regime, Hamas, as their first freely elected government, have not demonstrated they deserve further indulgence.

It's time the US stopped buying into the deception of double speak. If we demand the UN reform, if we claim the moral high ground,  if we adhere to the Bush doctrine, it can't suddenly stop  on the beaches of Mediterranean and the Dead Sea.

Rand said the evil of the world is made possible by the sanction that you give it..........why is it we sanction Pali evil, and call it by any name except what it is?

The Palestinian Charade - Editorial
In their dealings with the Palestinians, the U.S. and Israel are engaged in a charade. The reality is that the road map has been in tatters since it was first agreed upon in 2003. In the face of unremitting hostility by Hamas to the existence of a Jewish state, Israel's prime minister has said he will attempt to negotiate with Mahmoud Abbas. But Abbas is a busted flush, unable to deliver anything. (Telegraph-UK)

The Long War

Al-Qaeda Doctrine: The Eventual Need for Semi-Conventional Forces

Media reports from both Iraq and Afghanistan have suggested the appearance of a slow evolution of the Islamist insurgents' tactics in the direction of the battlefield deployment of larger mujahideen units that attack "harder" facilities. These attacks are not replacing small unit attacks, ambushes, kidnappings, assassinations and suicide bombings in either country, but rather seem to be initial and tentative forays toward another stage of fighting. In the past month, reports have suggested Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and his Iraqi resistance allies are trying to train semi-conventional units, and last week's large-unit action by the Taliban at the town of Musa Qala in southern Afghanistan may be straws in the wind in this regard.
As was explained in the earlier Terrorism Focus articles, al-Qaeda believes that it and its allies can only defeat the United States in a "long war," one that allows the Islamists to capitalize on their extraordinary patience, as well as on their enemies' lack thereof.

  • Iran: An Historic Nuclear Smackdown

    While Olmert was making history in the Joint session of Congress yesterday, Ahmadinejad was making a different kind of history. Clearly Tony Blair is meeting with Bush now regarding this very thing. It is soooo not about Iraq, we done won Iraq. Sectarian violence is part and parcel of this global war on Islamic violence. Iraq is so yesterday. Blair is here to war game, right on the heels of Olmert. Coincidence? Hardly. I will try to liveblog the Bush Blair press conference tonight, but I am not home and the day is not my own. Meanwhile, get thee over to Kobayashi Maru here;

Yesterday Iranian President Ahmadinejad was widely reported as having said that the West would "receive an historic slap" if we so much as waved an unloaded BB gun in the direction of Iran. (In the American media it was "a historic slap". We prefer the British: "an historic".)

According to Google News, 56 stories contained that phrase, while a total of 1074 were 'related' to it. By contrast, the rest of Ahmadinejad's remarks - and, we would argue, the most relevant part that sets "historic slap" in its proper context - appeared in only seven, with a total of 619 'related' to it. What is the context of those remarks?

"Today, Iran has mastered the entire nuclear fuel cycle, from start to finish, thanks to young Iranian scientists. The enemies are looking to plot and want to create differences among Iranians to stop us getting our rights. But if they do the slightest damage to the Iranian people, if they commit the slightest aggression, they will receive an historic slap." [emphasis added]

A little different, no? Mastery of "the entire nuclear fuel cycle" and "historic slap" are clearly linked ideas... the fuel cycle that's going to be used entirely for generating electricity...

But let's not be too quick to judge. With Ahmadinejad's straight-faced assurance that Iran's nuclear capability is only for the peaceful purposes, we can all relax. (Never mind that Iran could have done the nuclear-generated electricity thing sans all the sturm and drang had it simply abided by the obligations it signed onto under the NPT and remained open to IAEA inspections. Never mind that an investment in petroleum refining capacity could have generated far more energy at far less cost than a nuclear program.)

Never mind all that. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt - again.

Perhaps "slap" is really a typo. What Ahmadinejad probably really meant to say was "zap". Of course. That's it. How could we have been so bellicose and arrogant in our interpretation of the nuance of their unique language, culture and customs? When the nuclear power grid goes on-line and Tehran's Sharia-compatible toasters and state-censored televisions get all the domestically generated, CO2-free, Kyoto-compliant juice they need, it will be a metaphorical 'zap' to the ego of insensitive, planet-stomping, war-mongering theocrats like Bush.

Back to reality for a second. Let's go deeper. Another version of the remarks, over at Iran Focus raises even more pointed questions that most of the MSM have chosen to ignore:

"Today we can proudly announce that Iran has at its disposal the nuclear cycle from zero to 100... Any thought of aggression against the rights of the Iranian nation will be met with a lasting and historic slap from the people of Iran. The enemies of Iran know that they are not capable of harming the Iranian nation in the slightest bit from the outside. The enemies failed to prevent the Iranian nation from obtaining [nuclear capabilities] through political pressure, plots, and use of international organisations and today are plotting and trying to create [ethnic] divisions and despair to prevent the realisation of all of the Iranian nation’s rights." [emphasis added]

What's interesting about this longer excerpt is the introduction of a third concept: the West (aka, 'the enemies') have failed - past tense. This is important in that it implies either facts on the ground (nukes already built and maybe already loaded onto missiles on container ships en route to Western capitals) or perceived empowerment - we'd guess both. Unfortunately we can't find a transcript of the full remarks. It would appear however, that the sequencing of the key sound bytes is consistent across many media outlets, as is the gist of the translations.

The idea that Iran believes the West to have already failed in stopping their nuclear ambitions is reinforced by the recent actions (or rather, non-actions) of pretty much everyone in the international community, including the U.S. Although Iran has not rolled its armies across any borders recently (a technical, though hardly meaningful, point of departure from literal Hitlerian analogies in light of Iran's outsized influence in Syria and elsewhere), the state of mind that Ahmadinejad appears to be in is the same that possesses any leader when his aggressive actions have gone unopposed. If they didn't stop us from doing 'x', he thinks (and quite logically) then why would they stop us from doing 'y'? And if that's true, then why should we believe them when they say that 'z' is really truly their bottom line and it "will not stand"?

In short, they are on a roll and they know it.

    Palestinians Behind Sinai Bombing

Terrorists are the government in the Pali territories. These savages must be taken out. It's no wonder the world doesn't want Israel to leave the territories. The descent into violent madness would be occur with frightening speed.

Rand said "the spread of evil is the symptom of a vacuum. whenever evil wins, it is only by default: by the moral failure of those who evade the fact that there can be no compromise on basic principles." We have been compromising our principles for far too many decades to deleterious effect.

    Egypt: Palestinians aided Sinai bombings

Palestinian extremists [is there any other kind ?- Atlas] helped finance and train members of the militant Egyptian group that carried out deadly attacks at Sinai resorts, Egypt said Tuesday, making a direct connection for the first time between militants on either side of the Egypt-Gaza border.

The accusations could add to the troubles of the Islamic militant group Hamas, which leads the Palestinian government and is struggling with international isolation.

The Egyptian claim made no mention of either al-Qaida or Hamas and did not say whether the Palestinians who helped the Egyptian militants belonged to any organization.

Egypt's accusation also could fuel Israeli and Palestinian claims that al-Qaida militants have infiltrated the Palestinian territories.

Some analysts say the Egyptian group that carried out the bombings that killed 21 people last month at the Sinai resort of Dahab were al-Qaida-inspired. It took the name Monotheism and Jihad, which has been used by groups linked to al-Qaida.

The Interior Ministry said Palestinians helped the Egyptian group. It said three brothers who belong to the Egyptian group and helped plan the suicide attacks "made contacts with some fundamentalist Palestinian elements" before the attack and two of them - Ayman and Yousri Muhareb - went to the Palestinian territories.

    UPDATE: Pastorius from CUANAS and the brilliant alliance, Infidel Bloggers Alliance sent this intel over to me;

Egypt as a New Front for al-Qaida

    Sinai_attacks

Egypt is the cradle of Sunni Islamist radicalism, but since the Luxor terrorist attack in 1997, there has been no significant jihadist activity there. Now that appears to be changing. Is Egypt becoming a New Front for al-Qaida?

Olmert Speech to Joint Session of Congress: Witnessing history

And a reliable witness am I.

Ehud Olmert  became the first Israeli prime minister in more than a decade to address a joint meeting of both houses of Congress. Before I describe this most impressive speech and the historic moment in US/Israel relations, a little background first.

What a day. I was honored to have been invited. The experience more than exceeded my expectations. DC, itself, was glorious. Just beautiful. Crisp, sharp and regal. Such a great town, wonderful people. My favorites are the cab drivers, they are from all over the world and so happy to be here. Free, working, you know -- the American thang.

I arrived at the south door, opposite the Longworth building where a small press contingency had congregated. I started chatting with an elegant gentlemen, and coincidentally the only other blogger invited to cover the historic speech, Paul Mirengoff of Powerline. I liked him, he gave good conversation and was equally surprised and pleased to be in attendance.

Arriving at 8:40 am for an 11 am speech, gave me an opportunity to survey the press. Broadcast went off to a different designated area. The Israeli press was very clique-y, stayed very much to themselves. I  had the enormous pleasure of  extraordinary company. Uri Dan of The New York Post ((whose column I seldom miss), Paul and erudite Ed Lasky, The American Thinker (you could say Ed's a blogger too.). Uri Dan is a funny, funny guy and smart -- which makes him funnier. Of course the crux of the conversation particularly with Uri was the bonecrushing impact the blogs (no one likes that word anymore but I still think its cool. They prefer website, I say anything but that dirty word media) have had on the media and jihadi organs (my term) like the New York Times.

Had a short chat with the reporter from al arabiya. His take on recent events was amusing --  referring to the violence between Fatah and Hamas as "not important," like a "family fighting," and that 'it certainly will not lead to civil war." Whatever, my family doesn't fight like that, but hey.........what do I know? It must be a cultural thing.

Entering chambers was the great satisfaction. I looooved it. It was thrilling. Watching the Senators and Representatives mill about was wildly interesting. The wannabees working the higher ups on the food chain, the higher ups deigning who they would reward with their attention and conversation. I sat next to Dina, from Israeli TV (for Russian Israelis) and we shared the same politics. Not a suicidal lefty, of which Israel has many (too many.) She was as surprised by my politics as I hers. And so we dished.

Kerry came in looking haggard (think Ray Milland in The Lost Weekend), spent and depleted (think Nicholas Cage in Leaving Las Vegas without the bravado.) Watching that man gave me great pause . That someone as incompetent and worthless as he might have been President, made me shudder. Slumbering, slobbering Ted Kennedy came in late and scribbled notes and nodded off during the speech. What a yutz.

Hillary Clinton dashed (not quite but it was what she attempted to project - she can't really do dash) in at the last moment – very red carpet, very I am the star, a real diva moment. She thinks she’s President, or at least soon to be. Watching her watch the speech, she too was lackluster in her response and when she would bring herself to applaud it was almost in slow motion. As if her hands were weighted down with iron shackles. She has her agenda. And it ain’t pretty although her pink overcoat was rather stylish.

Santorum came in, shook hands,  as did Corwyn, affable.... ..you know, plain, decent rational folks. It was most interesting to see the play, the dance, of the power players.

Finally Vice-President Cheney (woo hoo) preceded Ehud Olmert into the chamber. A long, wonderful standing ovation greeted Olmert. It was good. And then he began.

Olmert_ovation Distinguished members of Congress, I come here – to the home of liberty and democracy – to tell you that my parents’ dream, our dream, has only been partly fulfilled. We have succeeded in building a Jewish homeland. We have succeeded in creating an oasis of hope and opportunity in a troubled region. But there has not yet been one year…one week…. Even one day… of peace in our tortured land.

The confrontation has become even more violent, the enemy turned even more inhumane due to the scourge of suicide terrorism. But we are not alone. Today. Israel. America, Europe and democracies across the globe, unfortunately, face this enemy.

Over the past six years more than 20,000 attempted terrorist attacks have been initiated against the people of Israel. Most thankfully, have been foiled by our security forces. But those which have succeeded have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of innocent civilians…and injury of thousands --- many of the children guilty ONLY of being in what proved to be the wrong place at the wrong time. [Although I differ with Olmert here, they were guilty of being Jewish.]

Olmert began to speak of the recent American victim of of this brutal and unremitting terror, Daniel Cantor Wultz, the 16  year old student from Weston, Florida, who went  to Israel to spend the Passover holiday with his parents in Israel.

Sitting with Olmert’s wife in the chamber was Daniel’s parents and sister, Yekutiel, Sheryl, andOlmert_wurtz Amanda. Daniel’s mother had her hands covering her face, weeping weeping weeping. It was anguish, the utter despair, is beyond my poor description. The heart breaks.
Photo right:  Top row Elie Wiesel, Sheryl Wurtz- second from left. Bottom row, Gray haired woman weeping Aliza Olmert (Ehud's wife).

    Olmert went on, defiantly;

Let me state this as clearly as I can: we will NOT yield to terror. [Wild applause]. We will NO surrender to terror… and WE WILL WIN the war on terror and restore peace to our societies.

The Palestinian Authority is ruled by Hamas – an organization committed to vehement anti-Semitism, the glorification of terror and the total destruction of Israel. As long as these are their guiding principles, they can never be a partner [wild applause]

Now there was a group of sour faced nasty looking attendees, all seated together, they would applaud nothing, instead they grimaced and sat like  lemmings, lovers of evil.. I don’t know who they were, I suspect they are the same savages that voted against the terror bill, here but I will investigate further. It is frightening to know that people like this exist, people that would scowl at fighting terror-- and be legislators in what is the ‘greatest deliberate body in the world’.

Olmert commended the Congress for initiating the Palestinian Anti-Terrorism act which “sends a clear message that the United States of America” will not tolerate terrorism in any form.”

When Olmert spoke of Sharon, he met with thunderous applause. Dina and I were surprised but wildly gratified that the Lion got the much deserved respect and admiration.

Ariel Sharon is a man of few words and great principles. His vision and dream of peace and security transcended time, philosophy and politics. Israel must still meet the momentous challenge of guaranteeing the future of Israel as a democratic state with a Jewish majority, within permanent and defensible borders and a unified Jerusalem as its capital – that is open and accessible for the worship of all religions.

Amen to that.........I am sure he ran that by Bush.

But Olmert 's official visit was dominated by Iran and the controversy over its nuclear potential. Iran's nuclear ambition "is hanging over this visit like a black cloud," said David Landau, editor in chief of the Israeli daily Haaretz . But he added, "Maybe this black cloud could have a silver lining."

The silver lining would be a package linking Iran's nuclear threat and Israel's defense needs to the sea change in Israelis' attitudes toward occupation, which could spell further unilateral withdrawals from Palestinian lands after last year's pullout from the Gaza Strip. I asked Dina what the Israelis thought of further pullouts. She said they want it, they voted for it. They want to get out of there and stop the fighting and be done with it. Enough. But, I said, that won't stop the fighting. That won't stop the Palestinians. They'll never stop.  And Dina replied "that's what Sharon said."

With the vision of Ariel Sharon guiding my actions, from this podium today, I extend my hand in peace to Mahmoud Abbas, elected President of the Palestinian Authority. On behalf of the State of Israel, we are willing to negotiate with a Palestinian Authority. This authority must renounce terrorism, dismantle the terrorist  infrastructure, accept previous agreements and commitments, and  recognize the right of Israel to exist.

Let us be clear: peace, without security, will bring neither peace nor security.

We will not, we cannot, compromise on these basic tests of partnership.

Amazing statement............extending his hand to Abbas, too bad Hamas won the election. Terrorists are now the government. Sharon is in a coma. The realities on the ground have changed considerably since Sharon envisioned his disengagement plan. The funny thing is, now no one wants Israel to leave those lands, the "territories"  unilaterally. So afraid are they of the result.  al qaedastan perhaps.

Olmert also spoke to "global warming." Hokey I thought, but I guess he knows his audience and he had to throw the leftards a bone. But even to that sour faces were stonefaced.

A land with limited resources, eager to facilitate cooperation with the United States, Israel devotes its best and brightest scientists to Research and Development for new generations of safe, reliable, efficient and environmentally friendly sources  of energy. Both our countries share a desire for energy security and prevention of global warming. Therefore, through the United States - Israel energy cooperation act and other joint frameworks, in collaboration with our US counterparts, Israel will increase  its efforts to find advanced scientific and technological solutions, designed to develop new energy sources and encourage conservation.

    On Iran, Olmert spoke forcefully, unequivocally;

Allow me to turn to another dark and gathering storm casting its shadow over the world…

Every generation is confronted with a moment of truth and trial From the savageryOlmert_speech of slavery, to the horrors of World War Two, to the gulags of the Communist Bloc. That which is right and good in this world has always been at war with the horrific evil permitted by human indifference.

That for me was the quotable quote - the proverbial 'money quote,"

Iran, the world's leading sponsor of terror, and a notorious violator of fundamental human rights, stands on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons. With these weapons, the security of the entire  world is put in jeopardy

A nuclear Iran means a terrorist state could achieve the primary mission for which terrorists live and die: the mass destruction of innocent human life. This challenge, which I believe is The Test of Our Time, is one the West cannot afford to fail

The radical Iranian regime has declared the United States its                 enemy. Its President believes it is his religious duty and his destiny to lead his country in a violent conflict against the nfidels. With pride he denies the Jewish Holocaust and speaks   brazenly, calling to wipe Israel off the map.

For us, this is an existential threat. A threat to which we cannot  consent. But it is not Israel's threat alone. It is a threat to  all those committed to stability in the Middle East and the well  being of the world at large.

Mr. Speaker, our moment is NOW. History will judge our generation  by the actions we take NOW…by our willingness to stand up  for peace and security and freedom, and by our courage to do what  is right.

Olmert_greeted_1 The international community will be measured not by its intentions       but by its results. The international community will be judged  by its ability to convince nations and peoples to turn their backs on hatred and zealotry.

If we don't take Iran's bellicose rhetoric seriously now, we  will be forced to take its nuclear aggression seriously later

Thundering applause, but still the lovers of evil sat stoic. The speech was a great one. The moment, enormously important. Cementing the bond. Olmert's address to Congress followed Tuesday meetings with President Bush that Bush said "reaffirmed the deep and abiding ties  between Israel and the United States. View the whole speech here. I understand the speech was broadcast live on all three Israeli television networks. Thirty eight outbursts bursts of applause and 18 standing ovations - the Israelis must have been kvelling.

Photos: Getty, we were allowed no cameras, no cells, no blackberries, etc .

    UPDATE: The Wall Street Journal's take from their evening wrap;

Should Israel conclude it has no legitimate negotiating partner in a Hamas-led government that refuses to acknowledge Israel's right to exist, his government would be forced to unilaterally impose a border in the West Bank. "We cannot wait for the Palestinians forever," Mr. Olmert told a receptive gathering of senators and congressmen, adding that "our deepest wish is to build a better future for our region, hand in hand with a Palestinian partner, but if not, we will move forward, but not alone." Israel won't be "alone" because of Mr. Bush's unexpected support for Mr. Olmert's border-drawing plan should the current "road-map" peace plan founder. Mr. Olmert's ideas "could lead to a two-state solution if a pathway to progress on the road map is not opened in the period ahead," Mr. Bush said. That came as a surprise to Israeli politicians and others who didn't expect any explicit statement of support from Mr. Bush.

The prospects for further progress on the road map aren't encouraging. The Palestinian leadership has fractured since Hamas quite unexpectedly prevailed in recent parliamentary elections. Mr. Bush encouraged Mr. Olmert to negotiate with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, affiliated with the Fatah party, but Mr. Abbas has shown little ability to tamp down militants in the past and Fatah loyalists are engaged in an increasingly bloody struggle with Hamas militants that some fear could trigger a Palestinian civil war. Late today in Gaza City, Nabil Hodhod, a Palestinian security official with ties to Mr. Abbas, was killed when his car exploded. It was the second attack on security commanders in a week. Meanwhile, masked gunmen kidnapped and shot three Hamas militants, killing one. Hamas blamed the incident on Fatah. The developments are symptomatic of a struggle that has been building and building ever since Hamas assumed power and is unlikely to end either quickly or tidily. Israel and other nations have placed sanctions on the Hamas-led government, and as the inflow of resources slows, the fighting in the streets stands a good change of getting worse. A civil war could also be a humanitarian disaster for the already poor region, and would deal another destabilizing blow to the Middle East that could send shockwaves far beyond the tiny Palestinian territories.

Meanwhile, Mr. Olmert was also discussing Iran's nuclear ambitions with U.S. officials. He spent 35 minutes yesterday talking to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld about the issue, and told lawmakers today that "if we don't take Iran's bellicose rhetoric seriously now, we will be forced to take its nuclear aggression seriously later."

    UPDATE: In related news;

    • Israel launched a series of actions against Palestinian terrorists, including the arrest of the head of the Hamas Military Wing in the West Bank and the targeted killing of Islamic Jihad's most senior militant in Gaza. [Full Story]

UPDATE: Remembered these folks later on. Harry Reid was very low key. Sullen.....almost clinically depressed, but, hey, I am not a doctor. Maybe he was still licking his wounds over his 'friend's'  editorial in his state's flagship newspaper, Las Vegas Review Journal. Or perhaps, that's just his look, Laurel (as in Laurel and Hardy, but with the reid doofy frown replacing Laurel's doofy smile.) McKinney got her old hair back - Heidi goes to Washington. Whattup with the braids girl? Next thing you know she'll be yodeling.

UPDATE: The Israeli press did not see things quite as optimistically as I did. I will not back or deride OLmert's plan because I do not live there. I do not sit in the front row, on the front lines of violent extremism everyday. All I will say is he was not my pick here and to this very day, I didn't undertsand the Israeli election here and here. Sharon or no Sharon, he was quite out of the picture and Hamas was quite in the picture when the Israelis made their bed choice. They must live with it.

    UPDATE
: Ed Lasky of The American Thinker wrote a brilliant, insightful piece on Olmert, the speech, America, the Jews, and world history  here. Read it all. Having met Lasky I can vouch for his take on world affairs. I loved the historical context of Lasky's piece.

God Bless America: Olmert speaks to Congress

Who should be surprised about the welcome extended by America? Since America’s inception, America has had a special place in its collective heart for the Jewish people, and now, for Israel.

deep and widespread. The Founders believed they owed a debt to the Jews for providing many of the basic precepts that the nation was founded upon and for inspiring them in their efforts to create a nation. This was only the genesis of a long history of friendship and partnership.

Many view this support as biblically ordained, for in the Bible it is written that God “will bless those who bless the Jews and curse whoever curses the Jews” (Genesis 12:3) and for the last two hundred years, America has indeed blessed the Jews. The Jewish people were the progenitors of Judeo-Christian civilization that has reached extraordinary success – whether measured in prosperity, justice, freedom or liberty – in the fertile soil of America. Had Prime Minister looked upwards from the podium when he deliver his address he would have seen directly facing him a relief of Moses. Moses, the founder of ancient Israel and the man who brought forth The Ten Commandments, the foundation stone of Western civilization.

The United States has more than returned the favor. America has provided a haven for terrorized Jews from around the world, has protested pogroms under the Czar, facilitated the creation of Israel, crafted the Jackson-Vanick Amendment that was vital in permitting Jews to emigrate from Russia, interceded to facilitate the escape of Ethiopian Jews to Israel, replenished Israel military supplies after the surprise attacks by its neighbors in 1973, and in a myriad of other ways America has truly been a blessing for the Jewish people.

In the concluding words of Prime Minister Olmert, “God Bless America.”

G-d bless America, indeed. I gotta tell you. Standing in those chambers yesterday, I can not articulate how proud I was /am to be an American.

The Choice: War with a Nuclear Ahmadinejad or Without

Jay over at StoptheACLU is blogging this latest dire development in the Iranian nuclear crisis. It is painfully obvious that Iran wants us to strike first. They are goading. Why?

Iran conducted a test launch Tuesday night of the Shihab-3 intermediate-range ballistic missile, which is capable of reaching Israel and US targets in the region, Israel Radio reported. The test came hours before Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met with US President George W Bush in Washington to discuss the Iranian threat.

"What deters the enemy from launching an aggression is the resistance's continuous readiness to respond," Nasrallah told scores of supporters. "Northern Israel today is within the range of the resistance's rockets. The ports, bases, factories and everything is within that range."

    Dangerous development.

    You gotta love Bolton, talking to them like they are Kindergartners (Nuclear kindergartners) ...ok kiddies, you can stay and play but put down the nuclear weapons, NOW;

Bolton: Iran regime can stay if ends arms pursuit
John Bolton, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said on Monday that Iran's leaders could stay in power and improve their ties with Washington if they ended their pursuit of nuclear arms

Islamic Terrorism Bill! Who Voted No?

    Cantor Statement on Hamas Legislation

“Hamas kills. It murders. It maims. It orphans, and it robs”

WASHINGTON, DC – Chief Deputy Majority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) released the following excerpts today from the statement made on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives on May 22 in support of H.R. 4681, the Palestinian Anti-Terrorism Act. This legislation, which passed the House today on a vote of 361 to 37, restricts U.S. funding to the Palestinian Authority until Hamas rejects terrorism and accepts the right of Israel to exist.

“Hamas believes that terrorism is a legitimate tool of political negotiation. Hamas does not hide from its endorsement of homicide bombings or its desire to use this tactic to achieve its goal of destroying Israel.”

“Hamas kills. It murders. It maims. It orphans, and it robs. It blunts the future of innocents. It takes away the happiness of children, and it tears apart families. Hamas believes that this behavior is somehow acceptable. “Today, we must send a message to Hamas and President Abbas that the free nations of the world reject their desire to be recognized as legitimate leaders of their people.”

“Mr. Speaker, today the United States House of Representatives sends a strong message that our government does not and will not deal with terrorists, nor in this Congress should we or will we allow American taxpayer dollars to fund terrorist activities.”

“Make no mistake about it, the very freedoms that we hold dear are at stake, and we must never stop fighting this war until the last terrorist on Earth is in a cell or a cemetery.”

    Good man. Speaks to truth.

    How did your Congressman Vote on the Islamic Terrorism Bill? Debbie Schlussel gives us the 411;

The bill--which was heavily opposed by the Islamist lobby in the U.S.--passed, today, 361-37.

While we are no fans of PM Olmert and feel that his weakness and landgrab on behalf of Islamic terrorists only encourages more attacks like the one on Passover which claimed Wultz, we do support this bill. It has a number of measures we only wish our government would be forced to undertake. Until the Palestinian Authority takes serious steps to stop terrorism, recognizes Israel's right to exist, has financial transparency, and a number of other reasonable conditions, the bill would:

    * Restrict all financial and other assistance to the Palestinian Authority;

    * Restrict all financial and other assistance to the Palestinian controlled-areas of the West Bank and Gaza;

    * Restrict monies to UN agencies and programs helping the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza;

    * Designate the Palestinian Authority as a Terrorist Entity;

    * Deny Visas for PA officials and prohibit them from having representatives in the U.S., including diplomats;

    * Target international financial institutions funding them; and

    * Prohibit any U.S. officials from having any diplomatic ties with Palestinian terror organizations (that one should have been U.S. policy long ago).

So, which Congressman voted in favor of Islamic terrorism?

The roll-call vote was recorded, and the following Congressmen voted NO to this (most of them are the usual loyal Arabs and anti-Semitic loons--like Kilpatrick, Conyers, Moran, McDermott, Kucinich, Dingell, and McKinney):

Who is really afraid of Iran?

    Lee Smith, a Hudson Institute visiting fellow based in Beirut, is writing a book on Arab culture, writing in this week's Weekly Standard here;

U.S. MIDDLE EAST policy is undergoing an identity crisis.
The giddy days of roll-back seem like a distant memory now, as a president who staked his historical legacy on Arab democracy grants Gamal Mubarak an audience at the White House while his father's government is beating and arresting protesters in the streets of Cairo. Is regional transformation rolling up its tent? Have all the sticks turned into carrots? And why is Washington so thrilled at reestablishing full diplomatic relations with Libya? If it is to illustrate what benefits are in store for another prominent power in the region should it abandon its own nuclear program, then maybe there should also be a counterexample of what happens to dangerously intransigent Middle Eastern regimes. Because     Iran is looking increasingly unimpressed by the posture of the Bush White House.

The White House has pointedly explained that Iran's nuclear program is a threat to     Israel, but Tehran is perhaps a more pressing problem for Gulf Cooperation Council members Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and especially Saudi Arabia. Speculations by Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad about post-Zionist geography are alarming, to say the least, but Israel has a nuclear deterrent. The Gulf countries, which in the past have shown neither the ability nor desire to protect themselves, depend entirely on the United States for their security. Read it all.............

    Malvo Says Muhammad Planned Bombings

Malvo: Muhammad Wanted to 'Terrorize' the Nation

    The sniper shootings in D.C. - media negates the most glaring, obvious motive. Debbie Schlussel reports;

Sniper Trial Media Whitewash: Are you Traveling Along "Allah 1"?

The trial of John Allen Muhammad, the Muslim D.C. sniper murderer, is ongoing, with Muslim partner-in-crime Lee Malvo among the last witnesses testifying.

Is this the religion of peace? Their actions said otherwise. But we note that not only do none of the news reports of the trial mention Islam (or call the snipers what they are: Islamic Terrorists), more glaring is that they do not mention one key point in FBI expert testimony, which our astute readers caught:

The name the snipers chose for their route of killing, marked with skulls and crossbones to denote good potential kills, was called "ALLAH ONE."

Yet, another pair of hijackers of their religion. Right? More like the other way around. Here's what the the "whitewashing press DID report: Case against Muhammad builds".

    Ignoring the glaring truth in these terror attacks makes developments like these all the more dangerous;

German court bans data trawl for Qaeda "sleepers"

A Moroccan man won a landmark legal victory on Tuesday when Germany's highest court set strict limits on the ability of police to trawl electronic databases at random in search of possible terrorists.

The Constitutional Court said such data trawling, for example to identify foreign male Muslim students, was only lawful if there was a concrete threat to Germany or one of its regions, or a danger to human life or freedom. hat tip Bill

    Atlas Goes to Washington

Posting will be sporadic as I make my way to the nation's capital to cover Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's speech to the Joint session of Congress. Woot! I am going as press, ain't that a kick in the head.
Despite all ink and punditry I do not believe for one second they are talking convergence I don't think theWest Bank is the top of Olmert's U.S. Agenda Uh uh, they are war gaming Iran, IMAO.

There is considerable concern that an American attempt to blow up Iran's nuclear reactors - like Israel's destruction of Saddam Hussein's reactor in 1981 - would be answered by Iranian reprisals against Israel.

"Israel should know in advance if the United States is planning military action," the newspaper wrote.

Olmert arrived in Washington on Sunday and was set for a working dinner last night with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. He is scheduled to see Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld this morning and Bush in the afternoon. New York Post

These guys are sick, mentally ill. What are they suggesting? That we don't fight back? Idiots that live off the freedom our military strength provides. BTW, this is the lead story on Google.

Amnesty says brutal terrorism on rise as "war on terror" fails

London (dpa) - Terrorism by armed groups reached a "new level of brutality and intensity in 2005" amid clear signs that the so-called war on terror was failing, Amnesty International said in its annual report published in London Wednesday.

"Terrorism by armed groups is inexcusable and unacceptable. Sadly, the increasing brutality of such incidents throughout the world last year is a further bitter reminder that the 'war on terror' is failing and will continue to fail until human rights and human security are given precedence over narrow national security interests", said Irene Khan, secretary-general of Amnesty, at a press conference.

Someone, get Irene a chador and a circumsion.

    IS LEFT-WING DOMINATED GOOGLE CENSORING NON-LEFT NEWS/COMMENTARY?

Maybe. At least according to these SEVEN (7) reports I got from GOOGLING "google censoring" at GOOGLE NEWS.

BLOG SEARCH at GOOGLE and put the same words in, and got 4.254 hits.

IS IT PROOF THAT GOOGLE CENSORING NON-LEFTIST NEWS AND COMMENTARY AND TRYING TO COVER IT UP?!

I'm very suspicious because history is replete with Leftist states which have done the same thing. And are doing it today: North Korea; Cuba; Vietnam; Syria; Iran and Zimbabwe. And the like. All ruled by Leftist regimes. Like GOOGLE.

UPDATE: Flight delays! Should arrive in DC just in time for rush hour traffic.

    NO Amnesty International report would not be complete wihtout a good does of Jew hate and moral equivalency....some things never change here;

Israel continued to build a "separation wall/fence" in occupied Palestinian land, restrict Palestinian movement in the West Bank which contributed to high unemployment and poverty, and conduct unlawful attacks routinely using excessive force against peaceful demonstrators, Amnesty International charged in its annual report for 2006 released Tuesday.

The report also referred to Palestinian suicide bombings, shootings and mortar attacks "that were part of a pattern of war crimes and crimes against humanity" perpetrated by both sides.

    Lie.

    Yellow Badge of Denial

    Andrew Bostom hits the nail right on the head in today's American Thinker. The badge is not a Jewish thing. It applies to all non muslims and Jewish lay leaders (with whom I find myself increasingly at odds with, since they are so leftarded.) They are wildly mistaken. This is not the Yellow Star of David of Nazi Germany -- it's not just Jews, it's all non Muslims;

“a political order from Islam and must be adhered to by the followers of Islam, and the goal [was] to promote general hatred toward those who are outside Muslim circles.”

This “hatred” was to assure that Muslims would not succumb to corrupt, i.e., non-Islamic, thoughts.

The dehumanizing practical impact of najis regulations were again observable at points of contact between Muslims and non-Muslims—wherever non-Muslims owned or operated businesses or manufacturing facilities whose personnel or products might “pollute” Muslims (see here, p. 137). For example (see this), shops that sold sandwiches or bakery goods (foodstuffs associated with minorities) were forced to display signs stating “especially for minorities.”

    Invoking the Nazis?

Many people have reacted to these reports with a comparison to Nazi requirements of Jews to wear a yellow Star of David on their clothing. Major Jewish organizations, including both The Simon Wiesenthal Center (in an almost apoplectic statement by Rabbi Marvin Hier,

“This is reminiscent of the Holocaust…Iran is moving closer and closer to the ideology of the Nazis.”

    and The American Jewish Committee,

“…the story, with its chilling echoes of the Shoah, is another heinous example of the Iranian regime’s contempt for human rights”

    have followed this rhetorical path.

I sent my original background essay on this sad state of affairs to ranking officials in the Wiesenthal Center, and the American Jewish Committee (AJC). Their responses were neither edifying nor reassuring. The Wiesenthal Center official acknowledged that my essay raised an “historical and Islamic context” which “factored in”, but was (apparently) trumped by this non-sequitur observation, i.e., the “…proliferation of Iranian websites and blogs that are appearing in the last two months that specifically embrace and promote  Nazism”. The official from the AJC rebuked me for even discussing “…legislation that to the best of our knowledge at this time does not exist.”

In response I posed the following five questions to the AJC official (and they certainly apply to the Wiesenthal Center as well), which remain unanswered:

    • Why doesn’t the American Jewish Committee (AJC) discuss…what najis is, how najis (practices) have been restored under Khomeini (and continued under his successors), and thus why the initial report of “badging” was plausible?

    • Why didn’t the AJC include this clear statement from Prof. Laurence Loeb’s study of the Jews of Iran (Loeb lived there to do his anthropological field work) published in 1977, as appropriate background?

[the] badge of shame [as] an identifying symbol which marked someone as a najis Jew and thus to be avoided. From the reign of Abbas I [1587-1629] until the 1920s, all Jews were required to display the badge

    • What does any of this have to do with “Nazism”?

    • Why can’t AJC and the other major Jewish organizations speak honestly based upon the real (and sadly living) history of such sanctioned Islamic doctrines—najis, the dhimmi condition, discriminatory badging, etc.—and their implementation for centuries (in Iran)?

    • What is to be gained by such denial and obfuscation other than further isolating us (i.e., Jews—I was writing as a Jew, albeit a “lapsed” Jew) as a tiny minority from the rest of the victims of jihad hatred (in this case the Christians and Zoroastrians also targeted by the putative dress regulations)?

While memories of the Holocaust are fresher and more widely held than memories of traditional Islamic oppression of Jews, such comparisons should be avoided. To invoke the Holocaust blinds us to the far longer and much more deeply-rooted traditions in the Islamic world which predate the rise of Nazism by well over a millennium.

In our struggle to defend our civilization and our freedoms, we must understand our enemy. Those who insist that anti-Semitism be seen exclusively through the lens of Nazism and the Holocaust divert our attention and hobble our understanding of the forces against which we defend ourselves.

It is my fervent hope that I receive serious, informed responses to the five queries posed to the AJC so as not to squander this “teachable moment.”

CAIR: "A SENSIBLE WAY TO DESCRIBE TERRORISTS "

CAIR, Council of Islamic Thugs and Gangstas and American arm of the Muslim Project just shot off this email to explain how to describe terrorists. These guys are serious.

ISLAM-OPED: A SENSIBLE WAY TO DESCRIBE TERRORISTS
The European Union will soon distribute new guidelines to its 25-member nations that recommend using "non-emotive lexicon for discussing radicalization." [dhimmis all - Atlas]

EU officials say that the guidelines, which are not legally binding, will ask European governments to shun the phrase "Islamic terrorism" in favor of "terrorists who abusively invoke Islam." Other terms being considered by the review include "Islamist," "fundamentalist" and "jihad. [This is what the Bible means when it says "woe to those who call evil good and good, evil...Atlas]

This first-of-its-kind effort to separate terrorism from its perceived roots is laudable. Associating the criminal enterprise of terrorism with the faith of 1.4 billion Muslims, 99.99 percent of whom will never come near any act of terrorism, much less use Islam as a justification for their crimes, is just plain wrong. [Where are they? Why don't they scream out against it? Where is this global movement? - Atlas]

Unfortunately, all too often "Islam" and "terrorism" are juxtaposed in news reports and editorials. A word search on news stories published in major newspapers over the past decade shows that reporters are hundred of times more likely to associate Islam with terrorism or militancy than all other faiths combined. [Shocka! associating Islam with terrorism - Atlas] Such lopsided portrayal is indicative of deep-seated misunderstandings about Islam, and sometimes just plain prejudice. Surely all terrorists are not Muslim, neither are all Muslims terrorists.[The coverage is lopsided alright, but not in the way CAIR would have you think - Atlas]

The 9-11 attacks brought home the horrors of a new form of suicidal terrorism. In order to eradicate terrorism, it is important to explore its root causes. [Bullshit, it's important to kill the terrorists -Atlas]

More and more scholarly [one man's scholar is a rational man's terrorist - Atlas] writings are delving deeper into this issue offering us new insights. [It ain't deep, it's mass murder - Atlas] Robert Pape's book Dying to Win uses more than two decades of data to show the paucity of connection between suicide terrorism and any of the world religions. [Then Pape is intellectually dishonest - Atlas]  (MORE)

Al Qaeda Selling Child Slaves "consign them to a life of misery in domestic servitude or in the sex trade"

    Sunday Times of London confirms this previous post;

A SENIOR member of an Islamic organisation linked to Al-Qaeda is funding his activities through the kidnapping of Christian children who are sold into slavery in Pakistan.

The Sunday Times has established that Gul Khan, a wealthy militant who uses the base of Jamaat-ud Daawa (JUD) near Lahore, is behind a cruel trade in boys aged six to 12.

They are abducted from remote Christian villages in the Punjab and fetch nearly £1,000 each from buyers who consign them to a life of misery in domestic servitude or in the sex trade.

Khan was exposed in a sting organised by American and Pakistani missionaries who decided to save 20 such boys and return them to their homes. Using a secret camera, they filmed him accepting $28,500 (£15,000) from a Pakistani missionary posing as a businessman who said he wanted to set up an operation in which the boys would beg for cash on the streets. Russia Becoming A Muslim State

    Nothing happens for decades, decades happen in a day. Well not quite, but sweeping historical changes happen almost imperceptively. Islamic Russia;

Paul Goble, a specialist on ethnic minorities in the Russian Federation has predicted that within the next several decades, Russia will become a Muslim majority state. There is another bad news with fast decline in country's population. This has already become a headache for Russian politicians and policy makers. President Vladimir Putin has called already for Russian women to have more children, because demographers predict that Russia's population will fall from 143 million to 100 million by 2050. This situation has alarmed Russians as well Western leaders, more so because analysts estimate that Muslims will comprise the majority group in Russia's population in few decades.

[...]not only the number of Muslim population in Russia is on fast growth because the Muslim women have more than one child, but in recent years, a large number of Islamist NGOs are actively working in the country, which are playing desperate role in having very large number of newly converts in Islam from other religion. He further said, especially the atheist groups are gradually getting inclined towards Islam because of extensive propaganda and activities of the Islamist NGOs. Highly educated scholars are engaged in giving sermons in mosques and other public places on a regular basis, which is putting tremendous impact on the minds of the people, especially the younger generation. These Islamic clerics are even with suits and clean shaven face. They speak different languages fluently, which is a very strong point for them to attract the attention of already educated Russian people, who are in serious economic and social distress.

He said, in contrary to activities of Islamist NGOs, there are virtually no or very few activities of missionaries of other religious faiths in Russia. Although the Islamist clerics and missions have their hidden and open missions in mind, from their faces and sermons, it is really difficult to identify anything. They initially spread the message of peace, and end up with the poison of religious hatred and jihad. These groups are even gradually capturing Russian media, through investments via Western countries, which are actually Arab money. They are even spending money in giving voice and strength to Muslim leadership, with the ultimate goal of taking over the power of Kremlin.

Comparing the new converted Russian Muslims with Muslims in other countries, he said, they are more fanatics and their beliefs are deep rooted in their minds and thoughts. They openly pronounce that, the main reason behind accepting Islam was as salvage. Poison of hatred has greatly influenced their minds. They instantly take the example of Chechnya, where Kremlin forces committed serious massacre. In their inner thoughts, there is a kind of hatred for Russian leaders and for the non-Muslims, and they want to take revenge of Chechnya case. hat tip Brigitte  Gabriel

UPDATE: Rick sent me Mark Steyn's "The Death of Mother Russia'"

the following item, which appeared a century ago — 13 September 1905 — in the Paris edition of the New York Herald:

    Holy War Waged
St. Petersburg: The districts of Zangezur and Jebrail are swarming with Tartar bands under the leadership of chiefs, and in some cases accompanied by Tartar police officials. Green banners are carried and a ‘Holy War’ is being proclaimed. All Armenians, without distinction of sex or age are being massacred. Many thousand Tartar horsemen have crossed the Perso-Russian frontier and joined the insurgents. Horrible scenes attended the destruction of the village of Minkind. Three hundred Armenians were massacred and mutilated. The children were thrown to the dogs and the few survivors were forced to embrace Islamism.

in our more sensitive age the Herald Tribune’s current owners, the New York Times, would never dream of headlining such a report ‘Holy War Waged’, though the Muslim insurgents are fighting for a pan-Caucasian Islamic republic from the Black Sea to the Caspian Sea.

And in the long run it’s hard to see why they won’t get it, the only question being whether it’s still worth getting. Moscow has reduced Grozny to rubble, yet is further than ever from solving its Chechen problem. Moreover, the sheer blundering thuggery of the Russian approach has no merits other than affording Moscow some short-term sadistic pleasure as it exacerbates the situation. The allegedly seething ‘Arab street’, which the West’s media doom-mongers have been predicting for four years will rise up in fury against the Anglo-American infidels, remains as seething as a cul-de-sac in Pinner on a Wednesday afternoon. But the Russian Federation’s Muslim street is real, and on the boil.
    [...]

So the world’s largest country is dying and the only question is how violent its death throes are. Yesterday’s Russia was characterised by Churchill as a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. Today’s has come unwrapped: it’s a crisis in a disaster inside a catastrophe. Most of the big international problems operate within certain geographic constraints: Africa has Aids, the Middle East has Islamists, North Korea has nukes. But Russia’s got the lot: an African-level Aids crisis and an Islamist separatist movement sitting on top of the biggest pile of nukes on the planet. Of course, the nuclear materials are all in ‘secure’ facilities — more secure, one hopes, than the secure public buildings in Nalchik that the Islamists took over with such ease last week.

Russia is the bleakest example on the planet of how we worry about all the wrong things. For 40 years the environmentalists have warned us that the jig was up: there are too many people (see Paul Ehrlich’s comic masterpiece of 1970 The Population Bomb) and too few resources — as the Club of Rome warned in its 1972 landmark study The Limits To Growth, the world will run out of gold by 1981, of mercury by 1985, tin by 1987, zinc by 1990, petroleum by 1992, and copper, lead and gas by 1993. Instead, poor old Russia is awash with resources but fatally short of Russians — and, in the end, warm bodies are the one indispensable resource.
    [...]

That's the danger for America — that most of what Russia has to trade is likely to be damaging to US interests. In its death throes, it could bequeath the world several new Muslim nations, a nuclear Middle East and a stronger China. In theory, America could do a belated follow-up to the Alaska deal and put in a bid for Siberia. But Russia's calculation is that sooner or later we'll be back in a bipolar world and that, in almost any scenario, there's more advantage in being part of the non-American pole. A Sino–Russian strategic partnership has a certain logic to it, and so, in a darker way, does a Russo–Muslim alliance of convenience. In 1989, with the Warsaw Pact crumbling before his eyes, poor old Mikhail Gorbachev received a helpful bit of advice from the cocky young upstart on the block, the Ayatollah Khomeini: 'I strongly urge that in breaking down the walls of Marxist fantasies you do not fall into the prison of the West and the Great Satan,' wrote the pioneer Islamist nutcase. 'I openly announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as the greatest and most powerful base of the Islamic world, can easily help fill up the ideological vacuum of your system.'

In an odd way, that's what happened everywhere but the Kremlin. As communism retreated, radical Islam seeped into Afghanistan and Indonesia and the Balkans. Crazy guys holed up in Philippine jungles and the tri-border region of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay which would have been 'Marxist fantasists' a generation or two back are now Islamists: it's the ideology du jour. Even the otherwise perplexing enthusiasm of the western Left for the jihad's misogynist homophobe theocrats is best understood as a latterday variation on the Hitler/Stalin pact. And, despite Gorbachev turning down the offer, it will be Russia's fate to have large chunks of its turf annexed by the Islamic world.

We are witnessing a remarkable event: the death of a great nation not through war or devastation but through its inability to rouse itself from its own suicidal tendencies. The 'ideological vacuum' was mostly filled with a nihilist fatalism. Churchill got it wrong: Russia is a vacuum wrapped in a nullity inside an abyss

    Euroweenies Extraordinaire, eh oui!

They are denying it, but who could believe such scaredy-cats? We know what what magnificent liars they are. Who can forget France actually lying to us before the Iraq war. Bush and Powell were so taken aback when foreign minister Dominique de Villepin pulled the rug out from under United Nations negotiations on January 20, 2003, by announcing, apparently out of the blue, that France would never ever agree to using force against Saddam Hussein.

Before the first U.N. vote in early November 2002 (actually, it was the 17th U.N. resolution condemning Saddam and calling on him to voluntarily disarm or suffer the consequences, which included his forceful ouster), Jacques Chirac picked up the phone and called President Bush at the White House, personally reassuring him that France "would be with" us at the U.N. and in Iraq.

    Ha! Paris pussies.

FRENCH PAID BLACKMAIL $ FOR HOSTAGE RELEASE

According to the [TIMES OF LONDON], Paris paid $15 million for the December 2004 release of journalists Christian Chesnot and Georges Malbrunot and another $10 million for the June 2005 release of journalist Florence Aubenas.

$58 MILLION PAID FOR 9 HOSTAGES?

LONDON: Details have emerged that France, Italy and Germany have paid terrorists a combined $58 million to free nine hostages in Iraq.

Britain's The Times has seen documents detailing the hostage payments despite earlier public denials by each country's government that no ransom money was paid.

The list of payments, held by security officials in Baghdad, has angered Western diplomats who argue the payments only encourage organised crime gangs to grab more foreign captives.

The ransom money has freed three French hostages, three Italians and three Germans – despite denials at the time from the respective governments.

Britain has refused to pay ransom money, leading to the death of English pair Kenneth Bigley and Margaret Hassan in 2004.

The government in Berlin has not given details of how the release was secured for the three Germans held hostage in Iraq.

Amid persistent speculation that ransom was paid, the head of the German Foreign Ministry crisis unit that handled the latest case said earlier this month that "the government does not let itself be blackmailed."

"It is our clear principle that the government rejects ransom payments," Reinhard Silberberg was quoted as telling the Leipziger Volkszeitung daily.

The Italian Foreign Ministry had no immediate comment on the Times report. However, the former Italian government of ex-Premier Silvio Berlusconi always denied strong speculation in Italy that money was paid to free Giuliana Sgrena and other Italian hostages in Iraq.

Critics complain that paying ransoms encourages gangs in Iraq to take foreigners hostage.

    Stop Giving Territory to Terrorists

The Center for Security Policy today began a television advertising campaign concerning Israel's proposed surrender of most of the West Bank and parts of Jerusalem to terrorists like al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. The ad [VIDEO HERE] recalls the consequences for Israel and for U.S. interests of previous Israeli retreats from southern Lebanon and theTerror Gaza Strip, and urges Americans' representatives in Washington to oppose further territorial concessions to our enemies.

The Center's ad campaign is timed to coincide with the visit to Washington next week by Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. Mr. Olmert will be pitching his so-called "Convergence Plan" for the West Bank to President Bush in an Oval Office meeting on Tuesday. Among other activities during his U.S. visit, he will also be holding meetings at the Pentagon on Monday and addressing a joint session of Congress on Wednesday.

The ad draws on an analysis of the convergence plan authored by the Center's Senior Mideast Fellow, Caroline Glick. A summary of its main findings can be found by clicking here. Ms. Glick is also the Deputy Managing Editor of and a columnist for the Jerusalem Post.

Encouraged by regime, students call fund 'symbolic move' in support of Palestinians Associated Press

A group of Iranian students announced Sunday at an event attended by a high-ranking member of the elite Revolutionary Guard that they were setting up a fund to destroy Israel.

Although the initiative's name - "The Student Fund for DemolishingIran_destroy_israel Israel" - brings to mind President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's call last year to destroy the Jewish state, an organizer said its goal was to support the cash-strapped Palestinian government.

Some 300 students attended the event hosted by a group calling itself the Movement of Justice-seeking Students at the University of Tehran.

"This is a symbolic move to attract public attention to the Palestinian cause at a time when Western countries have halted financial support to the Hamas-led government," Javad Miri, the group's spokesman, told The Associated Press.

Miri said the group was collecting money that it will send it to the Hamas-led Palestinian government. "When an elected government is in power in Palestine and Israel is pressuring it, everybody should help the Palestinians."

UPDATE: Olmert: Iran Close to Atomic Bomb Know-How
Iran is just a few months away from acquiring the technological know-how that will allow it to build an atomic bomb, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told CNN on Sunday. "This technological threshold is nearer than we anticipated before. This is because they are already engaged very seriously in enrichment," Olmert said. "The technological threshold is very close. It can be measured in months rather than years," he said.

    'Al-Qaeda in Palestine' claims attack

It's always been about Islam. It's always been about religion. it's not about land. That piece of beach holds no oil, gold, or any other valuable resources. It however, holds the Jewish people. The world knows that getting the land is meaningless, it is getting the Jew that will be the victory for the forces of evil.

'Al-Qaeda in Palestine' claims attack on intelligence chief

PARIS (AFP) - A group calling itself Al-Qaeda in Palestine said it carried out a bombing against the Palestinian intelligence chief and threatened more attacks in a statement posted on the Internet.

T "We declare our full responsibility for this operation," the group said in the statement, whose authenticity could not be independently verified. "Your mujahedeen brothers managed to place a bomb in the special lift used by the apostate Tareq Abu Rajab ... but were hasty in detonating the device which should have been triggered once the lift door was closed."

There is that word again - apostate.

Abu Rajab, overall head of the Palestinian intelligence services, was seriously wounded and his bodyguard killed in Saturday's blast in a lift at the services' Gaza headquarters.

The Internet statement also threatened other "apostate" Palestinian officials Sunday, including moderate     Palestinian Authority president Mahmud Abbas and the longtime Gaza strongman of his mainstream     Fatah movement, Mohammed Dahlan.

A large bomb was discovered Sunday next to the Gaza City home of Rashid Abu Shbak, the overall head of the Palestinian security services, security sources said.

A group proclaiming its loyalty to the Al-Qaeda network of     Osama bin Laden announced its formation in the Palestinian territories in a statement received by AFP on May 8.

In March, the Israeli authorities announced that they had detained two Palestinians from the     West Bank city of Nablus late last year on suspicion of working for Al-Qaeda in the first such arrests by     Israel.

Pakistani, American missionaries film purchase of 20 boys in sting

Two Christian men – one an American evangelist and the other a Pakistani missionary – have exposed a senior member of an al-Qaida-linked group behind a trade in Christian children by going undercover and secretly filming their purchase of 20 boys, age six to 12.

Gul Khan, a wealthy militant and senior member of Jamaat-ud Daawa, an Islamic organization declared by the U.S. State Department to be a front for another banned terrorist group banned in Pakistan for joining with al-Qaida in 2003 in an attempted assassination of President Pervez Musharraf, was filmed by a hidden camera accepting $28,500 from a Pakistani missionary posing as a businessman wanting to purchase boys to work for him as street beggars.

The two Christian men hatched their elaborate sting after seeing pictures of the abducted boys, taken from Christian villages in the Punjab, the London Times reported. During the months the two developed their plan, the American evangelist, who runs a small charity called Help Pakistani Children returned to the U.S. to raise funds. He asked to be identified only as "Brother Dave," His Pakistani counterpart took on the identity of a businessman named "Amir."

"We knew if we just purchased the boys, the slavers would just restock. We would be fuelling the slave trade," said Brother David. WND article here
