This is clearly Christie policy. Robert Spencer nailed it when he wrote, "New Jersey Governor Chris Christie .... took the opportunity to declare himself a foursquare tool of jihadists and Islamic supremacists, and even adopted their language
in deriding those who have pointed out how he has allowed himself to be
compromised by them.
Christie complained about a 'gaze of intolerance that’s going around
our country that is disturbing,' and referred dismissively to concerns
that he has gotten too close to Islamic supremacists: 'These are the
kind of red herrings that people put up who are bigots, who want to
judge people based upon their religious beliefs, want to judge people
with a broad brush.'"
This is Chrisite. His screw-ups are as big as his girth.
Now when will he reassure those under threat from jihad
terror plotting? Why is it that the New Jersey Muslim community doesn't
have to do a thing to reassure the attorney general that it is
law-abiding and rejects jihad, but he has to reassure them?

NEWARK, N.J. — New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa
quietly visited a Newark mosque Friday that had been listed in a secret
report by the New York Police Department, and he reassured worshippers
that New Jersey officials do not believe certain groups of citizens have
lesser rights than others.
Nor should they. But counterterror surveillance does not strip them of their rights.
Chiesa attended prayer services at Masjid Ibrahim, a modest,
single-story mosque set up inside a ramshackle former commercial space
in Newark. The mosque was among several in the report by the NYPD, which
conducted surveillance of Muslims in New Jersey and elsewhere.
“It is not tolerable here in New Jersey for us to have people treated differently in this state — period,” Chiesa said.
The attorney general’s visit was part of an ongoing effort by his
office to repair relations between Muslims and New Jersey law
enforcement after The Associated Press uncovered the NYPD spying. The
NYPD has said its actions were legal and it has the right to travel to
other cities in carrying out its duties.
Explaining to mosque-goers that he had only been in office about a
month when the NYPD spying came to light, Chiesa said he was there to
listen and answer questions from the community. He said he understood
how badly he and his family would feel if they had been subjected to
spying at their church or made to feel they could not freely practice
their religion.
How ridiculous. I wouldn't care in the slightest if I were "subjected
to spying" at church, because I would not be calling for terrorist
attacks or agreeing with any illegal action, and so I wouldn't care who
was listening. And if people were there who were plotting illegal
activities, I would want them found and apprehended.
The mosque’s imam, Mustafa El-Amin, is a member of the
Muslim outreach committee formed by Chiesa’s office in the wake of the
NYPD revelations. He has gained a following for oratory that translates
the teachings of the Quran into modern-day parables, relevant to his
largely poor and working-class African-American congregants.
El-Amin’s sermon on Friday was somewhat tailored to his visitors. He
emphasized that Islam is a religion of peace and explained the
significance of Friday prayers.
“It’s not a conspiracy session. It’s not a session where we plot
anything bad,” El-Amin said of Friday prayers. “All are welcome. Our
doors are always open. We have nothing to hide.”
Chiesa conducted a fact-finding review in the wake of the spying scandal, and concluded the NYPD had not violated any New Jersey laws. The findings angered
many New Jersey Muslims, who felt they had no state recourse to end the
spying. Eight Muslims filed a federal lawsuit in New Jersey against the
NYPD in June....

WASHINGTON, January 10 (RIA Novosti) - The key suspect in the failed
Christmas Day plane bombing said some 20 young men were being taught in Yemen to
blow up airliners, CBS News said on Sunday citing informed sources.
Nigerian national Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, 23, tried to blow up an A330 jet
bound from Amsterdam to Detroit and carrying some 300 people on December 25.
Subdued by passengers and the crew, he was detained upon arrival in Detroit.
Abdulmutallab had reportedly undergone training at an al-Qaeda camp in
Yemen.
"I think the fact we know that there are other operatives being trained by al
Qaeda in Yemen is extremely troubling, and is the most dangerous dimension to
come out of the December 25th event," said CBS News national security analyst
Juan Zarate.
The information might be behind the recent U.S. government's directive, which
orders enhanced security checks for every passenger flying U.S.-bound flights
from 14 countries, including Afghanistan, Somalia and Yemen, the channel
said.
I receive periodic updates from Craig, a reader in law enforcement. I thought I would share this recent communique with you.
I reviewed the pictures of the parade in New York celebrating the Jewish
State [and Tel Aviv's] 100th Birthday. They are awesome pictures, except for the anti-Israel "protesters." With all the other conventions, meetings and marches
being shut down in other countries due to "security concerns," I'm really
surprised someone didn't try to block this one. Thank the lord above it
was peaceful. I'm sure the New York City Police Department brass was holding their breath the whole time.
I talked with my old jail Commander at the Sheriffs Office the other day. We were discussing radical Islam and he said, "Practically everyone in the jail these days are Muslim or get converted." I worked in the jail in booking back in 2003. Then, the only Muslims who came into the jail were federal prisoners. (Many jails have contracts with the Federal Government to house federal prisoners awaiting trail.) Everyone single one I booked in was aggressive, demanding, and
arrogant. They had Korans the size of telephone books, and got very
agitated when I told them they could not take them back to the housing unit.
That so much has changed even in a small county jail like that are true indicators of how fast this movement is spreading. I went on the ISLAMIC FINDER website a few weeks ago to document Muslim owned businesses,schools, and Masjids in N.C. I was surprised when it was completed. I had over nine pages with some or all of the Muslim influences listed above in over 75 cities in North Carolina, stretching from the East Coast to the West Coast. Several small towns on the East Coast I was a police officer at while attending college even have mosques now. Asheboro, the county seat isn't a very big town-maybe 35,000 people-but there were two listings for Masjids. One turned out to be a large field which I presume they are going to build a mosque on. The other is a residence in an ordinary neighborhood-no sign saying, ISLAMIC CENTER OF CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA like it's listed at the
courthouse.
I've gotten some tips from friends who are investigators and will be visiting both city hall and the courthouse to assemble as much information as I can. The computer record shows the ICCNC to be a tax exempt organization-I'm not sure why? They have no listing on the phone book, no sign saying it's a religious center in the yard and no website-just lots of vehicles and about five middle eastern young men standing around when I cruised by the other day in an effort to check out the two addresses. One waved in a friendly manner-the others just scowled.
A former Air Force Officer is going on a "50 Mosques in 50 States" tour to evaluate the presence of radical Islam. The one he picked in my state, Raleigh, (one of about seven) he found radical. (One of his duties was to evaluate threats against the United States in the Middle East) He rated the threat to North Carolina and the U.S. as high, and filed a sworn affidavit with the State Bureau of Investigation, which is the highest law enforcement authority in the state.
Not sure how much good it will do, but I'm writing the Governor, Head of Public Safety, congressional sources, etc and making sure they are aware of this threat.
If you call child welfare on a neighbor, you can bet your bottom dollar someone would be out checking out your neighbor. Everything else aside, I know from my source that that child is in imminent danger. Her mother is too. We do not live in an Islamic state. I am at a loss as to why the State department is bringing whole Muslim communities into our small towns and cities. It is just not possible for them to assimilate into the US culture, which is why some of the Somali youth have gone back to Somalia to fight.

CHICAGO -- The American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois believes the
FBI and local police, working as members of the Joint Terrorism Task
Force, are encouraging rampant spying, NBC5's Mary Ann Ahern reported.
ACLU legal director Harvey Grossman said the groups filed Freedom of
Information Act requests on Thursday with the FBI to find out why the
surveillance by task forces set up to combat terrorism also targeted
anti-war and Islamic groups. The civil liberties organization wants to
know who has been interviewed, investigated or subjected to searches by
the task forces, and how the task forces are funded.
The filing by the ACLU and local activists group mirrors similar actions taken in several cities across the nation on Thursday.
IRVINE – A coalition of Islamic organizations angered by reports of the
government sending a paid informant to infiltrate Orange County mosques
is threatening to cut ties with the FBI and accusing the agency of
using "McCarthy-era tactics."
The Nashville mosque story is horrendous, and the FBI won't touch it. They had no problem raiding the compound in TX, but not this one which is a lot worse. It's not just child abuse that is happening down there, but they can bust the mosque and these "pious Muslims" on child abuse charges. We can get them on that - think Al Capone and tax evasion. And Americans can see how this is tied to shariah, which Obama's latest appointee wishes to bring to America.
The media made initial attempts to cover it. However, they backed off when they noticed the local bought FBI and the headquarters were not willing to do anything, even after overwhelming evidence. The FBI have done nothing. They had no problem in raiding a Mormon compound that didn't pose a threat like this one does.

taken there. The worshipper informed my researcher the "store" had

researcher) and this store was involved in financial transactions, such
as sending money from America to Somalia/other locations.

reviewed many of the materials distributed by the mosque, and there are
statements advocating killing people and destroying countries where people do
not live their lives under Sharia law and who oppress Islam/Muslims.
Sedition and treasonous activity is being advocated through the distribution of Islamic Jihadist materials.
This is a very dangerous mosque based on these materials - planning and plotting for certain - of what, who can know?

My CT researchers and I conducted ‘first-hand’ research at a predominately Somalia based mosque, Al-Farooq Masjid, 1421 4th
Ave. S. Nashville, TN. Initially I conducted a pre-assessment of the
various Islamic Centers within the area. Although there are other
mosques in the area advocating the ideology of Sharia law for the U.S.
and advocating the same ideology as Islamic terrorists groups, our
research uncovered more frightening and disturbing intelligence. Not
only does Al-Farooq provide materials by convicted Islamic terrorists
to their worshippers, they practice polygamy (per statements made by Al
Farooq worshippers) as allowed under Sharia law, which also advocates
children to be taken as ‘child brides’ married to older men. One need
only research how often this occurs in Somalia.
In Feb 09, I obtained evidence and there were several indicators the
children were being physically and emotionally abused. I immediately
provided my analysis and concerns to authorities. Almost immediately
First Amendment religious freedom rights came up and their fear of
being sued by Islamic organizations. I knew from the beginning when I
had to explain the basics of Sharia law and who Islamic scholars such
as Ahmad Sakr (U.S. based scholar who lectures to children and informs
them to not follow the U.S. Constitution, but instead to follow Sharia
law) are, it would be useless to rely on them alone to protect the
innocent children of al Farooq, which ultimately means our country is
not being protected. The objective of my company is to simultaneously
provide the research intelligence to the American public and to Law
Enforcement (LE). In our current times it is often necessary for news
organizations and the public to become involved before issues are taken
seriously.
In Mar 2009, I sent two researchers (male and female) to Al Farooq
to obtain further information. On 9 Mar 2009, a female child informed
one of our female researchers she and other children are ‘hit’ at the
‘Al Farooq School’ by a teacher and ‘her’ legs hurt. Additional
lectures by convicted terrorists and their supporters were provided to
my team. Again I notified authorities, but received no encouragement
the allegations of child abuse or the evidence pertaining to Al Farooq
leadership advocating violence would be responded to.
Authorities wanted ‘hard evidence’ children were being abused and
Islamic leaders at Al Farooq were educating the worshippers to commit
violence against innocent people, America, and Israel. Respectfully I
advised authorities Americans rely on them to take the lead and conduct
investigations pertaining to allegations. My organization is limited in
manpower and funds. Taxpayers pay our LE and elected officials to
protect our country. It is beyond my capability to convince authorities
that distributing material by Al Qaeda, Mawdudi (JI), and Ali Al Timimi
to children can lead to violence and is dangerous for all concerned.
One need only look at the Palestinian schools who are educated by
Hamas.

and encourage the worshippers of the mosque to hate America and to

FP: Do they (Al Farooq leaders) advocate an Islamic nation in America to be ruled under Sharia law?
Gaubatz: One need only review lectures/materials by Mawdudi,
Timimi, Sakr, and Siraj Wahhaj. My team collected evidence supporting
the above and can provide sworn affidavits to law
enforcement/Department of Justice Officials (DOJ) at any level, but
first the American public must convince Nashville authorities that
advocating innocent Muslim children to be involved in ‘physical Jihad’
against America is illegal. If we do not have elected officials who can
and will do this, then our government should discontinue the double
standards of convicting some Islamic scholars (such as Timimi) and
ignoring the actions of others.

The governor of Tennessee, Phil Bredesen, who was formerly the mayor of
Nashville, was instrumental in bringing the Somali refugees to Tennessee to work

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Obama administration dropped the term "enemy combatant" and incorporated international law on Friday as its basis for holding terrorism suspects at Guantanamo prison while it works to close the facility.
The U.S. Justice Department said it had filed court papers outlining its break from Bush administration detention standards, and said only those who provided "substantial" support to al Qaeda or the Taliban would be considered detainable.
"As we work toward developing a new policy to govern detainees, it is essential that we operate in a manner that strengthens our national security, is consistent with our values, and is governed by law," U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement.
"The change we've made today meets each of those standards and will make our nation stronger."
They think the American people are complete idiot sheeples.
Instead, the Justice Department said, "It draws on the international laws of war to inform the statutory authority conferred by Congress.
"It provides that individuals who supported al Qaeda or the Taliban are detainable only if the support was substantial. And it does not employ the phrase 'enemy combatant.'"
It said it had told the court that the Obama administration was reviewing its entire detention policy -- as part of its plan to close the prison at the U.S. naval base on Guantanamo Bay, Cuba -- and further refinements of the policies were possible.
How many of the released Gitmo detainees rejoined the Islamic armies of al qaeda and taleban? We are so screwed.

The signs are that the grandstanding Barack Obama is preparing to
subject the United States to the jurisdiction of the ICC. In May, 2002 President
Bush withdrew the United States from the Rome Statute which established the ICC.
With America heading into global conflict, he had no wish to see US troops
arraigned for alleged war crimes before a kangaroo court.
That was a wise
decision and probably required in terms of the US Constitution. Already,
however, the Obama administration is sending out very different messages.
America helped defeat a proposal that the warrant for Bashir should be suspended
for 12 months - which would have been a welcome respite for the soup kitchens of
Darfur. This is a policy change of considerable significance.
Nor is it
the only straw in the wind. Last month US Ambassador Susan Rice, in a closed
meeting of the Security Council, supported the ICC, saying it "looks to become
an important and credible instrument for trying to hold accountable the senior
leadership responsible for atrocities committed in the Congo, Uganda and
Darfur". A week later Ben Chang, spokesman for National Security Advisor General
James Jones, took a similar line, telling the Washington Times: "We support the
ICC in its pursuit of those who've perpetrated war crimes."
The next
logical step is for the United States to sign up to the ICC. That would flatter
Obama's ego as the conscience of the world. It would also put US servicemen at
the mercy of any American-hating opportunists who might choose to arraign them
on trumped-up charges before an alien court whose judges are likely to be
ill-disposed towards America too.

Remember how Obama pledged to
leave Iraq and send the troops to Afghanistan because the real terrorists where
in Afghanistan? Well, he just announced that we are losing in Afghanistan so we
are going to make a deal with the "Moderate" Taliban. He didn’t bother to tell us
if the "Moderate" Taliban will continue to prohibit women/girls from getting and education or medical
treatment, will sanction (encourage) honor killings, will live under the boot of sharia law.
After saying we would withdraw
from Iraq in 16 months, he is taking out much of our forces by September. That
would be 8 months. Now that al Qaeda knows his plan, they can wait and then
invade Iraq the day after we leave. Oibama will not feel any responsibility for
abandoning Iraqis and letting them get killed.
In the meantime, he appears to
have made concessions to the New Russia (Putin) while getting nothing in
return.
He has started putting
restrictions on Israeli self defense.
He has insulted the British,
giving back a statue of Churchill and giving Brown a pathetic gift of 25
DVD’s.
He has sucked up to Iran and
Syria.
He is giving combat helicopters
to the Government of Lebanon – which is now Hizbullah.
He is legitimizing Hamas by
supporting a unity government of Hamas and Fatah.
He is going to distribute your
wealth to those who supported him (except Jews). The stimulus bill will give
about $1 billion to Acorn, the voter fraud community
organizers.

LOS ANGELES (JTA) — Police in California are investigating as hate crimes the
posting of anti-Israel and pro-Hamas placards at two synagogues.
Three letter-sized, hand-written signs were discovered Tuesday at Beth Jacob,
an Orthodox congregation in Irvine, Calif. One poster proclaimed, “Gaza– The New
Shoah” and a second read, “Hamas Recognizes Israeli Genocide.”
Similar posters were found on the same day at the nearby Reform Congregation
Shir Ha-Ma’alot.

DAY FOUR: Free Free ‘Fakestinians’ Assault the streets of
Manhattan. Today they were marching to the Israeli ‘mission’ (isn’t that cute).
Not the Israeli Consulate.The Left continues to rewrite history. An outrage? You
bet.
A crowd of 3,000 maybe 4,000 filled their assigned pens on
Broadway but they also chose to
spill on to the sidewalks. As always, the leftists do what they want by fiat
because the police simply can’t rope them all in…so …as long as they aren’t
rioting…they roam the streets with their offensive signs and flags. Little
parades on the sidewalks and in the crosswalks: constantly.
However, WE….the Pro-Israel Patriots are penned in…even
those who were trying to pass out informational flyers with the FACTS, the TRUTH
were penned in. Also, trying to take a picture of the Pro-Israel side AGAIN was
complicated by the police stepping into the pictures. This happened to other
photographers on our side. Not just to this photographer. The police are
controlling US…Not them? Why?! Why no pictures?
The hate-Israel crowd is very confident. they own the
streets. I was told to ‘get out of here’ and I was flipped off and cursed each
time I said “Long Live Israel’. One of our group was shoved in the face
because(as a woman of color) she had no right to support Israel.. There was a
bit of fun at the N/W corner of 42nd and 7th Ave. I caught two of our Patriots
staying on-the-streets with the
wandering ‘fakestinians’…It was wonderful to see them hang close and tight with
their Pro- ISRAEL message forced among their Hate-Israel messages.
Then the March. When it began there was a HUGE uproar
(planned in my opinion for the photographers). The march began, turned onto
42nd street and a ‘pali’woman came screaming at the cops that the
march was NOT to start yet. She was in charge and to STOP the march. Her people
came and surrounded the officers in charge…then more officers came and
surrounded her people and she kept demanding the march stop. Lots of yelling and
confusion and lots of pictures and film rolled taking in this situation…and of
course…now the traffic was blocked. Finally…the cops said they were to move and
the march continued.
42nd street was a long march. Traffic at each
avenue had to be able to pass, so this very large crowd would go through
intersections in groups. Five large groups I think passed through slowly at
Sixth Avenue as they passed Bryant Park.. Turning at Third Avenue. Going uptown
to 48th and then back down 2nd Avenue. When we arrived, a valiant few
of our Pro-Israel patriots were at 2nd Ave and 42nd. It
was great to see them. But, we are out-numbered. WHY?!
The ‘palis’ made a very BIG show for all of Manhattan to
see….lots and lots of muslims….lots and lots of ‘fakestinian’ scarves…Is this
our future? As Europe goes…What’s next for us. Be Afraid, America!
A very large Pro-Palestine protest was mounted in Chicago today,
with participants being bused in from other cities and states (we heard
one organizer gathering people who “were on the bus from Milwaukee”).
Jake covered a similar but much smaller protest earlier in the week.
Today was definitely the main event — the Hamas supporters gathered
in front of Chicago’s famous Tribune Building, then marched across the
Chicago River and around the corner to the Israeli Consulate. A
good-sized crowd was already in place across the street to offer their
support for Israel.
We wandered around in both crowds taking pics and video for a while.
We had our press ID badges on, but were still told we had to “choose a
side” when the loonies got ready to begin their march to the Israeli
consulate. The police hustled us off behind their barricades post
haste…just in case you were wondering if bloggers are still largely
considered to be “second class journalists” — the answer is YES!

Across the street was an anemic counter protest. Where were the Jewish kids? NOWHERE. Jewish leadership and the diaspora have failed miserably in the education of our youth. The entire Muslim rally was young, wild -- frenetic. Itchy fingers on hair triggers.
Jewish lay leadership should be thrown out on the dhimmi asses. They have failed an entire generation of slackers.
"Israel is a terrorist state!" Screaming, yelling, very ugly .... police were not prepared. At one point the Muslims broke out crossed the street and confronted the 18 Jewish and Israel lovers across the street (watch the video, I caught part of it).
Someone tell this asshat that Israel has been sending truckloads of humanitarian aid into Gazastan. The keffiyeh is their signature - the new swastika.
The opposite side of the street (west) was cleared when a bag/backpack was left in front of the office building - Police shooed me away saying - "stay away from there! that could be a bomb!" Below you can see the yellow tape ....

....our Defence Dept who said they have access to telephone nos. in Gaza and beginning two days ago began calling the Arab population of Gaza in areas where the Israel Air Force was going to bomb and left messages in Arabic telling them to get out, since their gov't, led by Hamas, had placed strategic weapons and ammunition in their area and Israel was forced to destroy it to protect it's citizens.
First, let me say that the idea of placing ammunition and weapons among it's citizenry is a violation of human rights and the UN. This is something the Arab gov'ts have been doing in just about every war with Israel. Hamas is among the most uncaring and even among it's citizenry that supports them they have used their homes and living space to store ammunition and weapons. Hezbullah in Lebanon did the same thing.
The other point I want to make is that we have been extremely careful to avoid civilian casualties and when was the last time in the history of warfare that any gov't called it's enemy populations and told them to get out since their areas were targeted and tried to protect civilians. To my knowledge this is a first.
I don't think you'll see this story in the popular western press. But it did happen and is happening here. On two different occasions in the past two days I personally heard on radio that our gov't thru the ministry made more than 90,000 telephone calls per day to Gaza residents warning them that their specific area was targeted.
Please let your friends and neighbors know about this action that does show we care, and don't let the local media cry about the poor civilians who are being massacred when their own Hamas gov't cares less about them than their mortal enemies.

worker prayer case in Minnesota. Accomodation of Muslim demands in the

As many as 100 Somali Muslims who are
current and former workers at Gold’n Plump Inc. will receive a total of
$365,000 in a settlement of federal lawsuits alleging religious
discrimination at the company’s chicken processing plants in Cold
Spring, Minn., and Arcadia, Wis.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission (EEOC) alleged in a lawsuit filed in September that St.
Cloud-based Gold’n Plump violated federal law by terminating Somali
workers who prayed during their work shifts. The EEOC alleged in a
separate lawsuit that the Work Connection Inc., an employment agency in
St. Paul, required applicants for jobs at Gold’n Plump to sign forms
acknowledging that they might be required to handle pork.

An unmanned drone being built by an engineer on Long Island
sparked a large counter-terrorism investigation across the New York area,
officials tell WNBC.com. Police said they had stumbled upon overnight testing of
the drone at a little-used airstrip in Calverton, Long
Island.
The investigation began in February of
last year, when investigators first learned testing of the drone was underway.
Officials said the drone was being designed to carry more than 600 pounds of
explosives.
"It could be in the air for 8-10
hours and there's potential harm if it is carrying a large amount of toxic
material," NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly said in explaining why his
department's counterterrorism officials were concerned.
Police surveillance video obtained by News 4 New York
shows a white van rolling onto the tarmac, a small group of men jumping out and
ground testing the unmanned flight vehicle.
Kelly said
the engineer building the drone never reported his work to any agency including
the Federal
Aviation Administration or local authorities. Investigators said
concern increased for a time when they learned the man behind the
project was an Egyptian national who had entered the U.S. on a Sudanese
passport.
"It was such a bizarre set of
circumstances," said New York State Homeland Security Director Michael Balboni.
"Of course we watched it as closely as we did anything that was on our radar
screen."
NYPD
officials worked with Suffolk
County police and the FBI to determine there were
no ties to terror. Under questioning, the engineer said he was an inventor
hoping to sell this drone model to the U.S. military.

Charging violation of his constitutional rights to free speech and religion,
equal protection and due process, nuclear scientist and prison imam Moniem
El-Ganayni filed a federal lawsuit yesterday against the Department of Energy
and its acting deputy secretary, Jeffrey F. Kupfer.
The action stems from the loss of Dr. El-Ganayni's security clearance, and
hence his job, at Bettis Laboratory in West Mifflin, based on unspecified
grounds of "national security." It does not seek to overturn the revocation, but
rather the right to see the alleged evidence against him -- he doubts any exists
-- and the chance to contest the decision "before a nonpolitical, neutral
arbiter, as mandated by DOE regulations."
"The government has offered no factual details in this case. All they've done
is to parrot boilerplate language from the DOE," said Witold Walczak, legal
director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania, which is
representing Dr. El-Ganayni along with lawyers from the Downtown offices of
Schnader Harrison Segal and Lewis.
"There are ways to handle classified information without compromising
national security," he said. "The government has done it before."
The suit says Dr. El-Ganayni was damaged by the government's actions and, in
addition to a hearing, seeks affirmation of his rights as a U.S. citizen, plus
costs and attorneys' fees.
National security, the suit alleges, was invoked "solely to shield the agency
from having to disclose the unconstitutional retaliatory and discriminatory
reasons" for its action. In reality, it says, the decision was made "because he
is a foreign-born Muslim who has spoken publicly and critically about U.S.
foreign policy and the FBI's treatment of Muslims."
Altogether now. Hurl.
"Many [native-born] Americans say what I say about the war," Dr. El-Ganayni
said yesterday. "But when I say it, I become a traitor. I want to show that the
laws apply to me the same as to any other citizen."
The 29-page complaint sets out a scenario of post-9/11 suspicion and
harassment against local Muslims, and Dr. El-Ganayni's opposition to it. It says
he was visited by government agents at his home, asked to inform on other
Muslims (he refused) and denied boarding passes on routine airline flights when
his American-born wife went right through.
Dr. El-Ganayni came to the United States from Egypt in 1980, became a U.S.
citizen in 1988 and started work at the Bettis nuclear propulsion research
facility in 1990. He earned his advanced degrees at the University of
Pittsburgh, co-founded the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh, and ministered to
prisoners in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
He contends that he never had a clearance problem at work until he began
speaking out against the Iraq war and the FBI's efforts to recruit informants at
local mosques.
“If the laws of the
country conflict with Islamic law, if one goes against the other, then I am
going to follow Islamic law, simple as that,” Imam in Canada.
Further bad news on the article I ran yesterday on the problem of Islamic polygamy and the West's dangerous cowardice in not dealing with it. Our neighbors to the north have got it going on in spades. Seems further along up there and it gives a glimpse into our future (our anti-future - seems more like a leap into seventh century). John Turley-Ewart states the obvious though little acknowledged, "By turning a blind eye to polygamy, Premier McGuinty [indeed all of the West - Atlas] is giving licence to
Sharia by stealth."

It’s an issue the Liberal government of Ontario, led by Premier Dalton
McGuinty, doesn’t want to deal with — polygamy in the Muslim community. Last
week the Toronto Star told the story of
Safa Rigby, a 35-year-old mother of five children who recently learned her
husband of 14 years had two other wives. Ms. Rigby’s life is in tatters. She
followed her husband’s advice that she leave Toronto and live in Egypt for a
year on the grounds that it would be better for their children to spend more
time in a Muslim country. Now she knows it was a ruse. He used her time there to
marry two other women.
Ms. Rigby does not support polygamy, which has been illegal in Canada for
more than a century. But Toronto Imam Aly Hindy, who runs the Toronto Salahuddin
Islamic Centre, does. He married Ms. Rigby’s husband knowing he already had a
wife and counselled him to keep the marriage secret from Ms. Rigby for as long
as possible. Hindy has by his own admission performed 30 ceremonies in which men
were married who already had wives. When Ms. Rigby confronted Hindy his response
was reportedly cold and unsympathetic: “You will have to stand beside him in
these difficult times,” Hindy told her. “You should stop causing problems to
(sic) him. You will not get anything by divorce except destroying your life” he
went on to say.
For Hindy this is not about Ms. Rigby or her husband’s desire to marry
another woman — but making a broader political point.
Hindy is using polygamy as a proxy for his fundamentalist version of Islam,
something he wants to see legitimized in Canadian society as a whole. It is part
of an attempt at empire building, a bid that if successful will enhance his
influence within the Muslim community and demonstrate that Ontario and Canada is
too ignorant and too afraid of Islam to uphold its own laws. He has admitted as
much, challenging Ontario’s government to dare stop him. “If the laws of the
country conflict with Islamic law, if one goes against the other, then I am
going to follow Islamic law, simple as that,” he told the Star. Interviewed
after the Star story appeared on the John Oakley Show on AM 640Toronto,
Hindy was not apologetic and argued that freedom of religion in
the Charter of Rights and Freedoms trumped prohibitions against polygamous
marriages.
When he and another Imam from Toronto, Steve Rockwell, were challenged on the
appropriateness of polygamy by a Muslim caller to the Oakley Show, the caller
was immediately attacked and his identity as a true Muslim questioned because he
did not follow Hindy’s view that polygamy is a foundational pillar of Islam that
grows out of Sharia Law. This speaks to a troubling absolutist interpretation of
Islamic law, which runs against the reality that Sharia law is much more
flexible that Hindy allows for, a fact well documented by Anver Emon, a specialist in Islamic law at the University of
Toronto. Moreover, as noted in the Star article on Ms. Rigby, there is
grave doubt that the Charter protects Islamic polygamy, as Hindy believes. Nik
Bala, who teaches family law at Queen’s University, points out that “Islam
permits polygamy, but doesn’t require it to be a practising Muslim.” This is
key, and may mean Hindy’s attempt to find shelter behind the Charter will fail.
Moreover, the impact polygamy has on women's equality and children could also sway the courts to
uphold Canada's ban on polygamy.

that Muslim women may well fair poorly if such a system was allowed to be
