North Korea, Iran .... Laughing at Obama

While the NORKS appear terrifed (/sarc tag off) of a strongly worded letter from Obambi and his toothless administration, it appears they will be going forward with their missile launch - will Japan take action? Lord knows, our allies cannot rely on American hegemony anymore, President Hussein is too busy apologizing to the Muslim world.

Gates: U.S. Not Prepared to Respond to North Korea Missile Launch

TOKYO (AFP) — A group of Iranian missile experts is in North Korea to help Obama muslim Pyongyang prepare for a rocket launch, Japan's Sankei Shimbun newspaper reported on Sunday.

North Korea has said it will launch a communications satellite over northern Japan between April 4 and 8, and the report said the 15-strong Iranian delegation had been in the country since the beginning of this month.

It includes senior officials with Iranian rocket and satellite producer Shahid Hemmat Industrial Group, the daily said, quoting unnamed sources.

The Iranians brought a letter from their President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il stressing the importance of cooperating on space technology, it added.

The United States and its Asian allies suspect North Korea is using the launch as a cover for a long-range missile test.

North Korea and Iran have both come under international pressure over their nuclear activities and are reported to maintain close ties on missile technology.

ISLAMIC JUSTICE: AN EYE FOR AN EYE? ALMOST NOT QUITE

Ameneh Bahrami, as she looked before the attack.

Ameneh Bahrami, since the accident.

President Hussein can't bend over far enough to this depraved culture.

Victim Will Get to Blind the Man Who Blinded Her

All of these asshats on the left calling for submission to Iran's objectves. They ought to live there.

Madrid, Spain (CNN)- An Iranian woman living in Spain is welcoming a Tehran court ruling that awards her eye-for-an-eye justice against a suitor who blinded her.

In a Spanish radio interview, she says her aim isn't revenge -- it's to make sure her suffering isn't repeated.

Ameneh Bahrami was blinded and disfigured in 2004 when a man she had spurned threw acid on her. Late last year, an Iranian court reportedly ruled that Islamic justice calls for the attacker to be blinded with acid, too.

But the victim says she is entitled to blind Majid Movahedi in only one eye, because under Iranian law "each man is worth two women."

She also says he would be blinded by having several drops of acid put into one eye, whereas she had acid splashed all over her face and other parts of her body.

She says she's waiting for a letter from the court telling her to go back to Iran for the punishment to be carried out.

Bahrami tells CNN she first crossed paths with her attacker Movahedi in 2002, when they attended the same university. She was a 24-year-old electronics student. He was 19. She never noticed him until they shared a class. He sat next to her one day and brushed up against her. Bahrami says she knew it wasn't an accident.

"I moved away from him," she said, "but he brushed up against me again." When Bahrami stood up in class and screamed for him to stop, Movahedi just looked at her in stunned silence. Bahrami said that over the next two years, Movahedi kept harassing her and making threats, even as he asked her to marry him.

Then one day she was leaving work and he snuck up behind her. When she turned around he threw acid on her face.

SENIOR IRANIAN OFFICIAL DENIES HOLOCAUST IN OFFICIAL REMARKS IN ..... MUNICH, GERMANY
UPDATE: BIDEN PROMISES TALK WITH ISLAMIC IRAN AT SAME CONFERENCE

Bidenmunich

Could it be any clear how bad it is going to get? If you deny the holocaust and get away with it on the world stage, then there is no truth, no value for truth or man .....only the further descent into depravity and vicious evil.

Biden will be attending this conference as well. His dhimmi views on Iran are no secret. He has a history of stumping for Iran. It is no accident President Hussein picked Biden. Most folks didn't get it. I did.
Good men will rise up against this, I know -- they email me. But at what cost? (photo shop hat tip Chad)

Iranian Official Scolds U.S., Urges New Strategy Yochi Dreazen Wall Street Journal

A senior Iranian official called President Obama's election a "golden opportunity" for the U.S. to improve relations with Iran but condemned past American behavior in a speech that underscored the difficulty of overcoming the bad blood between the two adversaries.

"In the past, the U.S. has burned many bridges, but a new White House can rebuild them," the speaker of Iran's parliament, Ali Larijani, told diplomats and military officers at the annual Munich Conference on Security Policy. "This requires new pragmatic strategies based on respect and fair play. The carrot and stick must be discarded."

Mr. Larijani, formerly Iran's lead nuclear negotiator, praised George Mitchell's appointment as special envoy to the Middle East as a positive signal.

Mr. Larijani's appearance was eagerly awaited because it marked the first time since the U.S. election that a top Iranian official was in the same room as senior American policy makers such as retired Gen. James Jones, Mr. Obama's national-security adviser.

Near the end of his speech, Mr. Larijani astonished many in the audience by arguing that there could "be different perspectives on the Holocaust." The remark was surprising because Iran has been careful about commenting on the Holocaust in settings such as Munich. In addition, Mr. Larijani is considered a relative moderate who has made an effort not to discuss the Holocaust here.

Larijani a moderate? By whose standard? Hitler's? Who writes this garbage?

The comment prompted an angry challenge from French politician Pierre Lellouche, who said denying the Holocaust is a crime in France.

Isn't it a crime in Germany. Arrest Larijani!

"In Iran, we don't have the same sensitivities," Mr. Larijani replied.

The tenor of Mr. Larijani's remarks Friday offered further reminders of the challenges facing President Obama in promoting dialogue with Iran.

President Obama has said he is open to direct talks with Iran, arguing that the Bush administration's policy of isolating the Islamic republic failed. He is expected to appoint a special envoy for Iran within weeks. The president has reiterated former President George W. Bush's demands that Iran abandon its nuclear program and cease supporting armed groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.

Tehran has refused to consider U.S. demands. This week, it launched its first domestically built and propelled satellite into orbit, sparking U.S. and European fears that the technology could lead to developing advanced ballistic missiles.

Vice President Joe Biden will address the conference Saturday, but it was unclear if Mr. Larijani would remain. Mr. Biden is expected to announce that the U.S. is willing to reconsider plans for a missile-defense system in Eastern Europe, a move that would be welcomed by Russia.

Mr. Larijani ran through a critique of past and present U.S. actions in the Middle East, from the Central Intelligence Agency-led coup in 1953 that toppled a democratically elected Iranian president to Washington's support for Israel during its recent wars against Islamic militants in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.

Mr. Larijani held up photos of dead Palestinian children and accused the U.S. of a double standard when it came to Israel. "Do you honestly expect this pain to go away?" he asked. "The other party must accept its mistakes and change strategies."

Israel, gird your loins.

UPDATE: Biden Pledges Talks with Iran in Munich Speech Ken Timmerman, Newsmax

Joe Biden made his first official overseas trip as vice president on Saturday, pledging at a security conference in Munich, Germany. that the new administration intends to hold official talks with Iran.

"We will be willing to talk to Iran and to offer a very clear choice: Continue down your current course and there will be pressure and isolation; abandon the illicit nuclear program and your support for terrorism and there will be meaningful incentives," Biden said.

But White House officials dismissed rumors that Biden planned to have quiet meetings with Iranian officials who were attending the Munich conference.

“The vice president has no plans to meet with any Iranian officials while in Munich,” an administration official told Newsmax.

Speaking in Tehran at a press conference with Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal last week, Iranian foreign minister Manoucher Mottaki said that Iran would “make our views known” at the Munich conference, but had no intention of holding direct talks with Biden at that time.

“Resumption of relations with the U.S. under the new circumstances is of prime importance and we are now studying the change of attitude and U.S. policies to make our views known, but we have no plan to do so at the upcoming Munich security conference,” Mottaki said, as the Hamas leader looked on.

Iran’s leaders have been holding back from direct talks with the U.S. as officials and advisers to the Obama administration “negotiate with themselves in public,” said Sardar Haddad, a U.S.-based Iranian dissident.

“Why should they agree to anything when they can sit back and watch the U.S. negotiate a better deal for them on television?” he told Newsmax.

On Friday, Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani took a hard line, reiterating the demands put forward last week by president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

[Read Ahmadinejad’s chilly response to Obama’s offer of direct talks. Go here now.]

 [...]

Instead, every fresh statement from Washington about the Obama administration’s willingness to talk seems to be taken as a sign of weakness in Tehran, where Iran’s leaders just keep on upping the ante.

A senior Iranian cleric blasted the Obama administration in a speech in Tehran on Friday.

“As long as America sees itself as the ruler of the world the slogan of change is a lie,” Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami told worshipers in a sermon at Friday prayers.

“Obama’s remarks over the past two weeks show that his promise of change is a lie because he is repeating [former President George W.) Bush’s mistakes by saying that the U.S. is committed to the security of Israel and that sanctions against Iran still exist.

“America should know that the world will not be deceived by these gestures.”

Instead, the Obama White House “should bring a real change to its policies,” he said.

Khatami is the brother of former President Mohammad Khatami, touted as a “moderate” in the West.

[...]

AEI scholar Danielle Pletka acknowledged that the new administration has the authority to carry out its pledge to talk to the Iranian regime.

“OK, we’re going to sit down with the Iranians,” she said. “But we haven’t really talked seriously or debated the issues at hand, what the end game is, what our expectations are, and what we hope will happen along the way.”

For example, she said, Tehran “wants a dominant regional role. Do we really want to see that? Do we really want Iran to have a seat at the table of the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks?”

Then she warned that talking to Iran also had its price, and that Iranian preconditions to talks could be so exorbitant that the U.S. would “lose all the ground” it had gained with the European allies over the past five years in crafting a common front to oppose Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

“Everybody here recognizes there is a time line,” she said. “There is an urgency to sitting down and discussing with the Iranians because there is an urgency to moving them away from the final movement when  they cross the threshold and actually have nuclear weapons in hand.”

The real question, she said, was “how long the Obama administration is willing to sit down and talk with the Iranians while they continue to move forward with their program? It’s not an unreasonable question to ask.”

And one that the Obama administration has pointedly refrained from answering until now.

Very bad. All of it. Islamic jihad is dictating the terms.

Mohaddessin: IRAN DEVELOPING NUKE BOMB

Of course the mullahs are marching to Armageddon. We know that. The NIE was a coup d'etat against the Bush White House (and it worked!) despite subsequent senior level retractions. But our cowardly leaders won't believe it until we are knee deep in dead and rotting bodies. Foe shizzle.

Exile group claims Iran is developing nuclear warheads (WSJ), subscription req'd, reprinted here

The Iranian opposition group that first exposed Iran's controversial nuclear-fuel program has given the United Nations' nuclear watchdog details of what the group says is a working nuclear-warhead-development facility. The facility at Khojir, a defense-ministry missile-research site on the southeast edge of Tehran , is developing a nuclear warhead for use on Iranian medium-range missiles, according to Mohammad Mohaddessin, foreign-affairs chief for the exiled National Council of Resistance of Iran. He also said the NCRI has identified a guest house on a military compound near Khojir that the group says houses North Korean specialists working at the warhead facility. The information was finalized in recent weeks and is current, according to Mr. Mohaddessin.

Earlier today the poison dwarf belched the following: President Ahmadinejad said earlier: "World powers have created a black and dirty microbe named the Zionist regime and unleashed it like a savage animal on the nations of the region." He was addressing a rally in the southern city of Bandar Abbas, site of the Revolutionary Guards' command center and main bases. His speech was broadcast in full by state television.

Cutting the Cables, Cutting off Reformers

It seems Iran has the most to gain from cutting the cables. The last thing the mullahs want are their people having access to the outside world. Internet access is oxygen to dissidents and reformers.

And Then There Were Five hat tip Larwyn via Wretchard

Al Bawaba claims that a total of five undersea cables have been disrupted. "However, the International Cable Protection Committee, an association of 86 submarine cable operators dedicated to safeguarding undersea cables, has declined to speculate on the cause of the breaches, adding investigations were underway."

A total of five cables being operated by two submarine cable operators have been damaged with a fault in each. These are SeaMeWe-4 (South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe-4) near Penang, Malaysia, the FLAG Europe-Asia near Alexandria, FLAG near the Dubai coast, FALCON near Bandar Abbas in Iran and SeaMeWe-4, also near Alexandria.

Now the tin-foil hats are being broken out. The force behind these cable outages is ...

... the Jew. As the Jerusalem Post reports:

Of course, logic never comes into play for these people; it's got to be Israel's fault. Well, I've got a theory of my own. Instead of saying that Israel and/or the CIA - which, as we all know, controls Iraq nowadays - deliberately cut the cables to isolate the Arab world, and especially Iran, and set it up for "something," I think it was the Arabs/Iran themselves that did the cutting to make Israel look bad by having something to blame on us. Or we could just call it a draw, and attribute the breakages to bad winter weather and infrastructure failure - not unheard of with underwater cables.

Why wasn't Israel affected? Simply because we use a different cable, with Egypt and company refusing to allow Israel to rent bandwidth on the same one it uses. Israel's cable is called MedNautilus (http://www.mednautilus.com), originally put together by a consortium that involved Israelis, but is now wholly owned by Spain's Telefonica.

But the MIT Technology Review puts things in perspective. There are lots of cable outages a year. The reason the Middle East is so vulnerable is because they are served by a relatively few.

Undersea cable damage is hardly rare--indeed, more than 50 repair operations were mounted in the Atlantic alone last year, according to marine cable repair company Global Marine Systems. But last week's breaks came at one of the world's bottlenecks, where Net traffic for whole regions is funneled along a single route.

This kind of damage is rarely such a deep concern in the United States and Europe. The Atlantic and Pacific Oceans are crisscrossed so completely with fast fiber networks that a break in one area typically has no significant effect. Net traffic simply uses one of many possible alternate destinations to reach its goal.

Not so with the route connecting Europe to Egypt, and from there to the Middle East. Today, just three major data cables stretch from Italy to Egypt and run down the Suez Canal, and from there to much of the Middle East. (A separate line connects Italy with Israel.) A serious cut here is immediately obvious across the region, and a double cut can be crippling.

But the vulnerability of the region won't last long. A large number of new cables are planned along the routes that have been cut by the series of accidents. Or rather one should say the exposure of the regin to accidental damage will close as more redundancy is built into the system. Any undersea cable network, however extensive, is potentially vulnerable to the power that controls the seas.

UPDATE: Ben notes, "It may be worth noting, or maybe not, that it is generally considered impossible to tap a fiber optic line- unless you install a special device just for that purpose.

Which would require you to break the line, which would interrupt traffic, which would be noticed- unless you used a second break to mask your tapping break."

Classic Kick Ass Bolton

Bolton Blasts UN at UN NewsMax.com -
Former US/UN ambassador John Bolton returned to UN headquarters in NYC on Friday to launch his new book "Surrender Is Not An Option."

Heh ........... I wish I thought of that. Do you think they lifted their heads out of the trough long enough to notice? Nah, me niether.

On Iran: "Past the tipping point"

More  classic J to the B;

"You'd have to have a near religious belief in the strength of UN resolutions .............."

Promoting his book on CNN Friday morning, Bolton told John Roberts that the issue in Pakistan "is not a choice between democracy ... and martial law. ... This is a choice right now between secure command and control over Pakistan's nuclear weapons arsenel on the one hand and chaos on the other. If we have chaos, we could have a radical Islamicist regime in charge of those weapons."

Useful idiot Roberts then asked Bolton about Iran's recent claims of progress in its nuclear program. Bolton responded that "we may be past the tipping-point" and said "I'd analogize this to 1936, when Hitler marched into the Rhineland. ... If Iran gets nuclear weapons, the entire situation in the Middle East changes dramatically."

Roberts also showed Bolton a clip of Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel saying, "Now is the time for the United States to pursue an offer of direct, unconditional, and comprehensive talks with Iran." "That would be a bad mistake," Bolton commented. "When you go back to the days of the Cold War ... they knew you didn't negotiate with the Soviets until you were in a position of strength. And we're not in that position now. ... I don't think Iran is going to be chit-chatted out of its nuclear weapons."

Watch the video at this leftarded site here.

ROBERTS: great read for me, because you know, all those years of following you around the world with the u.s. Press corps filled in a lot of blanks. A peek behind the curtain, fascinating stuff. So pakistan, what do you see as the eventual outcome of this and what can the u.s. Do to influence events there?

BOLTON: it is obviously distressing. It's important people understand, this is not a choice between democracy and benazir bhutto on one side and martial law and pervez musharraf on the other. This is a choice right now between security command and control over pakistan's nuclear weapons arsenal on the one hand and chaos on the other. If we have chaos, we could have a radical islamic regime in charge of those weapons.

ROBERTS: the people musharraf are arresting are not radicals, they're attorneys, judges.

BOLTON: I think the problem is we don't have a good idea of what the situation is. I think unfortunately, we've contributed to it. And this is one of those things where events can spiral out of control. And if they do that and those nuclear weapons fall into the hands of tirsts, we're all in much worst shape.

ROBERTS: is benazir bhutto the savior of pakistan that they would like to portray her as? she was kicked out of office twice for corruption.

BOLTON: just because she's a harvard graduate doesn't mean she's the savior for pakistan. Her administration, sadly, was no better than most other civilian administrations in pakistan. That's why they call the military the steel skeleton there. We may not like it, but it's a fact of life in that country.

ROBERTS: your book goes into a lot of detail about trying to get iran to give up its nuclear program, and of course that, reached a new milestone this week when ahmadinejad said they had 3,000 of these centrifuges now capable of turning fluoride into highly enriched uranium. Are we at a tipping point in this standoff and are you concerned that israel may try to take preemptive action?

BOLTON: I think we may be past a tipping point. I think iran clearly now has the scientific and technical mastery it needs to get to nuclear weapons. I'd analogyize this to hitler. If britain and france had done some about the violation of the versailles treaty, we may have prevented world war i. If iran gets nuclear weapons, the entire situation in the middle east changes radically.

ROBERTS: and hitler with was appeased in his early march and you accuse the government of trying to appease iran, throwing too many carrots. And you talk about getting to a restaurant and condoleezza rice ordered carrot soup. And kerik is very critical of the way white house is dealing with iran. Take a look at what he said. I want to ask you about it.

BOLTON: now is the time for the united states to actively pursue an offer of direct, unconditional, and comprehensive talks with iran. We cannot afford to refuse to consider the strategic choice any longer.

ROBERTS: direct, unconditional, and comprehensive talks with iron. An -- iran. Your opinion?

BOLTON: I think that would be a bad mistake. Look, when you go back to the cold war and we had leaders leak dean acheson, they knew you didn't associate with the soevts until you were in a position of strength and we're not in that position now. On the nuclear issue, I don't think iran is going to be chitchatted out of nuclear weapons. They've been pursuing it, 20-year-long strategic decision to acquire this capability. They're very close to it. We've missed a lot of opportunities, precisely by engaging in diplomacy via the european union.

ROBERTS: you don't seem to have in this book any great admiration for the way either colin powell or condoleezza rice handled the situation in dealing with iran. Did they blow it?

BOLTON: well, I think by deferring to the europeans in what actually became an obsession with the technique of diplomacy, as if that's a policy objective rather than an instrument of foreign policy, we gave the iranians something they couldn't buy, and that was time, time to get the necessary science and technology to get the nuclear weapons. That's why we're at such a dangerous point today.

Ha!

All the flying monkeys in Condiland will be most unhappy today. Ayatollah to Muslims: Boycott  Annapolis

Iranian spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, called on all Arab countries planning to attend a US-sponsored Middle East peace conference slated to be held in Annapolis in November, to cancel their participation because it would hurt the Palestinians.

Rice arrives to push forward Annapolis conference. My money is on Condi, maybe she'll offer them part of lower Manhattan.

More asshattery.

Big, Bad, Bold Bolton: Hit Iran

Bolton: The Man Who Should Be President

I am sure  the leftarded shrews on the left will  convulse when they hear JB's latest "policy statement" on how the US must handle the  fourth reich's acquistion of nuclear weaponry. But rational men ask - what choice do we have? I have no guilt about my desire to live, for the survival of my nation and for the West to prevail in the war on Islamic jihad.

Ambassador Bolton has consistently displayed a clear understanding of the gathering storm and the severity of deadly enemies we face.

Iranian proxy Syria is amassing forces near Golan
Iranian foreign legion Hizbullah is amassing on Israel's border
Iranian foreign legion Hamas is attacking Israel daily and rearming, preparing for war
Iran is clearly funding and supplying insurgents in Iraq - fomenting civil war and killing American soldiers.

CIA operative Bob Baer told Fox News that the Bush administration will likely attack Iran in the coming months. “Iran policy is on close hold, but the feeling is we will hit the Islamic Revolutionary Guard corps sometime next six months or so,” said Baer.

Yesterday, former U.N. ambassador John Bolton responded with the testicular fortitude we have come to respect, admire and revel in. While he couldn’t confirm Baer’s statements, he “absolutely” hoped they were true:

HEMMER: One final step here, too, that I want to take with you. You told one of our producers earlier today that you don’t know if it’s true — and you’ve made that clear in our interview here, that you don’t know what the odds are or are not against that — but you hope it’s true. Why do you hope it’s true?

BOLTON: Absolutely. I hope Iran understands that we are very serious, that we are determined they are not going to get a nuclear weapon capability, and unless they change the strategic decision they’ve been pursuing for close to 20 years, that that’s something they better factor into their calculations.

Transcript:

HEMMER: The Bush administration reportedly deciding to designate Iran’s Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization.

So, what does that mean, huh? Well, according to the former CIA operative Bob Baer, it means the U.S. could be gearing up to launch some sort of military strike on Iran. Bob Baer was here yesterday morning. Listen:

FORMER CIA OPERATIVE BOB BAER: Iran policy is on close hold, but the feeling is we will hit the Islamic Revolutionary Guard corps sometime next six months or so.

HEMMER: With such an — that would start another war. Is the administration up for this, Bob?

BAER: Well, it’s not exactly it’s a war. It’s what the administration is convinced of, is that the Iranians are interfering in Iraq and the rest of the Gulf.

HEMMER: Well, that certainly got our attention. So we asked John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the U.N., for his take on that today.

Sir, good morning. Welcome back.

BOLTON: Good morning. Glad to be here.

HEMMER: Bob Baer says within six months his sources inform him that there will be a strike on Iran. Do you agree with that?

BOLTON: Well, I don’t think one can tell one way or the other. I don’t think there’s any doubt, based on the information we have, that Iran is interfering in Iraq and is posing a direct threat to our troops.

So I think if President Bush as commander in chief believes that information is accurate, he is fully entitled to take defensive measures, which could include going after the Revolutionary Guards inside Iran. […]

Yeah baby. And if the weak prevail and rational men shrug: What To Do if a Nuclear Disaster is Imminent

What did Germany do?

And while everyone believes Iran's money woes will sink the regime. I am not so sure. What did Germany do when their economy collapsed and they would wheelbarrow their dollars to the bank when inflation rendered them worthless? They got behind a madman and went to war. Yeah, that's over simplifying and  we can split HAIRS over Hitler and the Brown shirts and how he got there  (the same case could be made for Ahmadi-kneejerk), but the bottom line is the situations are parallel.

I just received this from Rocket Brain;

MORE MONEY PROBLEMS FOR IRAN: What would you do when faced with a cash flow problem? You might try to curb expenditure, work harder to earn more, borrow money, or, when all else fails, put up the family jewels for sale. The latter is precisely what President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's administration is trying to do as it faces a cash shortage.

Signs that the government may be running out of money have multiplied in recent months. Tens of thousands of civil servants, including school teachers, have not been paid since January. Bills from private contractors working for the government are piling up, threatening the survival of many businesses. . . .

All this may seem surprising if only because Iran has earned almost $150 billion from oil exports since Ahmadinejad won the presidency in 2005. So, were did the money go?

Um, centrifuges, maybe?

The big man's got it too.

SHOCKA! Iran behind Lockerbie

Since Jimmy Carter helped install the Ayatollah Khomeini,  Iran has been behind  major Islamic terrorist acts and major Islamic terrorist groups, Iranian foreign legions as it were. They declared war on the West in '79 and have never looked back. It is the caliphate they want and the caliphate they mean to inflict on the rest of the world.
Imagine this, Iran had its hand in Lockerbie.

Lockerbie evidence 'was tampered with, destroyed and overlooked'

MARTYN MCLAUGHLIN The Scotsman hat tip  Gail
  • Commission expected to conclude that conviction of Megrahi is unsafe
  • Key witness account brought into question and statements 'missing'
  • Defence believe motive was to avoid antagonising Iran during Gulf War

Key quote
"The Crown Office has a moral obligation to hold a public inquiry. If it embarrasses the Scottish judiciary, so be it. We're in danger of becoming the laughing stock of Europe." - TAM DALYELL

Story in full EVIDENCE used against Abdelbaset Ali Mohamed al-Megrahi, the Libyan convicted of the Lockerbie bombing, was subject to deliberate destruction and manipulation for political reasons, according to leaked documents from his defence team.

The allegations suggest authorities on both sides of the Atlantic attempted to mislead the original inquiry into the 1988 disaster to divert attention away from the original Iranian-backed suspects to Libya, with evidence apparently tampered with, destroyed and overlooked.

In a decision that could send shockwaves through the Scottish legal system, the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission (SCCRC) is expected to conclude this week that the conviction of Megrahi - jailed in 2001 for his part in the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 which killed 270 people - is unsafe.

Amid claims from his defence team of a "co-ordinated effort to mislead the court", tantamount to a perversion of the course of justice, the SCCRC is studying hundreds of documents and photographs that suggest evidence was deliberately fabricated, manipulated or ignored by police and CIA operatives.

Lieberman: Bomb Iran if it doesn't stop killing Americans

Basic sound judgment. Coming from a Democrat, totally out of the box. Jerry Gordon over at Israpundit says;

Way to go Joe!! Watch the video of the CBS Face the Nation interview with Bob Scheiffer
Conn. Senator Says The U.S. Should Strike If Tehran Keeps Helping Anti-U.S. Forces In Iraq
“We can tell them we want them to stop that, but if there’s any hope of the Iranians living according to the international rule of law and stopping, for instance, their nuclear weapons development, we can’t just talk to them,” Lieberman said. “If they don’t play by the rules, we’ve got to use our force, and to me that would include taking military action to stop them from doing what they’re doing.”
(CBS) The United States should launch military strikes against Iran if the government in Tehran does not stop supplying anti-American forces in Iraq, Sen. Joe Lieberman said Sunday on Face The Nation.
“I think we’ve got to be prepared to take aggressive military action against the Iranians to stop them from killing Americans in Iraq,” Lieberman told Bob Schieffer. “And to me, that would include a strike into… over the border into Iran, where we have good evidence that they have a base at which they are training these people coming back into Iraq to kill our soldiers.”
The Independent former Democrat from Connecticut said that he was not calling for an invasion of Iran, but he did say the U.S. should target specific training camps.
“I think you could probably do a lot of it from the air, but they can’t believe that they have immunity for training and equipping people to come in and kill Americans,” Lieberman said.
Lieberman, who has been one of Congress’s most outspoken supporters of the Bush administration’s Iraq war policies, said that continuing the fight in Iraq and confronting Iran are necessary for achieving a wider peace in the Middle East.
If the U.S. does not act against Iran, “they’ll take that as a sign of weakness on our part and we will pay for it in Iraq and throughout the region and ultimately right here at home,” Lieberman said.
He said that he has seen evidence that the Iranians are supplying insurgents and foreign fighters in Iraq.
“By some estimates, they have killed as many as 200 American soldiers,” he said.
The Senator said he was not calling for an end to the limited diplomatic efforts that are underway between Washington and Tehran.

IRAN ON DEATH MARCH TO NUCLEAR WAR

First please watch this Iranian parade (check out the swastikas, Star of David, and "US" formations.) I think Bush and Cheney ought to switch places for awhile. In response to Cheney, Iran vows retaliation if attacked: ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - The Iranian president said yesterday that Iran would retaliate if the United States attacked the country - a tough response to recent comments by Vice President Cheney that Washington would prevent the Islamic republic from dominating the Middle East. (The Philadelphia Inquirer)

Iran 'steps up nuclear work'BBC News
Iran is enriching uranium on a much larger scale than before, the UN's nuclear energy agency says.

UN inspectors say Iran closer on nuclear effort
Boston Globe
VIENNA -- Inspectors for the International Atomic Energy Agency have concluded that Iran appears to have solved most of its technological problems and is beginning to enrich uranium on a far larger scale than before, according to the agency's top officials.

Inspectors Cite Big Gain by Iran on Nuclear Fuel NY Times

Is Iran’s Nuclear Program Unstoppable? ABC News

The New York Times picks up on the story today with word that Iran now has 1,300 centrifuges enriching uranium gas to low levels of enrichment -- suitable for power reactors -- and is testing an additional 300, with another 300 centrifuges still under installation. Iran’s goal is to begin operating 3,000 centrifuges by June, an objective that appears within reach according to officials at the International Atomic Energy Agency which monitors Iran’s efforts. (At left, centrifuges at Natanz.)

Iran’s program is allowed under the NPT, which permits access to nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, but is currently in direct violation of three UN Security Council resolutions that have highlighted Iran’s violations of its safeguards obligations and demanded that Iran suspend especially the enrichment component of its nuclear program.

Two aspects of Iran’s enrichment program are especially troubling to policymakers and experts. One is that if Iran were to operate successfully about 3,000 centrifuges for a year, stockpiling the resulting low-enriched uranium (LEU), it would have a “breakout” capability of several months if it were to withdraw from the NPT, expel IAEA inspectors, and use its stockpiled LEU as feed in its centrifuges (starting enrichment with LEU shortens dramatically -- as much as 75 percent -- the time needed to enrich weapons-grade uranium). That’s a lot of “ifs,” but these are worst case scenarios that most concern diplomats.

The second is that Iran, at least for the moment, appears unshakable in its determination to brush off sanctions, and move doggedly forward with further installation of centrifuges and enrichment. This may force a rethinking of diplomatic strategy, as suggested by the Times, which until now has focused on the requirement that Iran suspend enrichment.

Kurds Blame Iran for Terror in Iraq

This is the Iran's modus operandi. Iran uses proxies to wage war. Hamas, Hezb'Allah, Syria, Peloshia  - all Iranian proxies. This what they do.

Leading Kurd Blames Iran for Terror in Iraq - Eli Lake
While Iran's connection to Sunni Islamist terrorism is hotly debated in Washington, it is not disputed in Iraqi Kurdistan which borders Iran. In an interview Tuesday, the director of the security ministry for Sulaimaniya province, Sarkawt Hassan Jalal, said he has no doubt Iran is helping send Sunni jihadists into his territory. He listed the five border towns on the Iranian side where he says they are based: Mariwan, Pejwan, Bokan, Sina, and Serdai. For General Jalal, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's original group, known as Tawhid and Jihad, was sent by the Iranians and al-Qaeda to attack the Kurds and Americans. "Iran is at the top of the terrorism in all the world. There will be peace in the world when you change the authorities in Iran," he concluded. (New York Sun)

British Soldier/Iranian Guard swap?

There is more to the release of the British soldiers - we know that.  William Lind over Military.com has an excellent piece on it here; hat tip Thomas

The Middle East being what it is, I suspect there is more to it. But we should soon know; if it is nothing more than a border dispute, Iran will accept Britain's promise to be more careful in future and let Her Majesty's sailors and Marines go.

A second possibility strikes me as more likely, namely that the Iranians grabbed some British hostages for a swap. The U.S. is holding five Iranians it took in a raid in northern Iraq in January. According to The Washington Post, "Iranian officials expected them to be released on the Iranian new year, March 21." Just two days after that release failed to occur, the Iranians grabbed the Brits. More, the Iranian forces who seized the British boarding party were Revolutionary Guard, not Iranian Navy; the Iranians held by the U.S. are also Revolutionary Guards, from the Guard's elite Quds Force.

What could be more Middle Eastern than setting up a trade?

IRAN CALLS UN SANCTIONS "TORN PAPER"

Iran knows what we all know, the UN is toothless, spineless, and dickless. There are no repercussions. There are no real penalties. The UN is a monument to corruption, embezzlement,  antisemitism and skulduggery. It exists to steal from the producers and give to themselves and their serfs. Not to mention the continuing Islamicazation of the UN.

Iran is on a mission. Apparently do not live inn fear of another strongly worded letter.

IRAN PRESIDENT CALLS UN RESOLUTION "TORN PAPER"

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday dismissed any new U.N. sanctions resolution as "a torn piece of paper" that would not stop Tehran's nuclear work, the official IRNA news agency reported.

"Issuing such torn pieces of paper ... will not have an impact on Iranian nation's will (to obtain nuclear technology)," IRNA quoted Ahmadinejad as telling a rally in central Iran.

Ahmadinejad on Thursday dismissed any new U.N sanctions resolution as "a torn piece of paper" that would not stop Tehran's nuclear work, a local news agency reported. (REUTERS/Raheb Homavandi)U.S., British, French, German, Russian and Chinese diplomats at the United Nations have reached a tentative deal on imposing fresh sanctions on Iran and hope to introduce the measure at the Security Council on Thursday, providing their governments agree.

An earlier sanctions resolution passed by the Security Council in December was derided by Ahmadinejad in similar terms.

Iran says fires first rocket into space Middle East Times

Iiran_shahab_3_missile

Tehran completes first major step towards putting homemade satellites into space on back of Iranian-made rockets.

Iran said on Sunday it had successfully launched its first rocket into space, at a time of mounting tension with the West over its nuclear programme.

"The first space rocket has been successfully launched into space," a state television anchor announced, without disclosing its range or the date of the launch.

"The rocket was carrying material intended for research created by the ministries of science and defence," Mohsen Bahrami, the head of Iran's aerospace research centre, told state television.

He did not give further details on the nature of the cargo.

Iran's claim of success in launching a space rocket appears to be the first major step towards its stated ambition of putting homemade satellites into space on the back of Iranian-made rockets.

HEZBOLLAH SPITS on 1701
REARMING TO THE TEETH

Latest report from the Intelligence and Terrorism Center at IICC here.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah publicly admits that his organization is rearming and secretly transporting arms to south Lebanon, in blatant violation of Security Council Resolution 1701. Nasrallah sends a clear message to his opponents: Hezbollah is determined to maintain its status as “the defender of Lebanon”.

In his speech, Nasrallah admits that Hezbollah is rearming and secretly transporting
arms and ammunition to south Lebanon
(Al-Manar, February 16)

Summary of Nasrallah’s speech

1. On February 16, 2007, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah gave a belligerent, arrogant speech in a ceremony held in south Beirut (in the neighborhood of Al-Rawis) on the anniversary of the killing of two senior Hezbollah figures. In his speech, Nasrallah admitted that his organization was rearming and secretly smuggling arms and ammunition to south Lebanon , in blatant violation of Security Council Resolution 1701 (which ended the second Lebanon war).

2. Following are the highlights of Hassan Nasrallah's speech (Al-Manar Television, February 16):

a. Hezbollah is rearming: “We are being very clear and we are saying that we have arms. We are not lying and [we are] telling it to the whole world. We have arms [Nasrallah stresses the word “arms”]… of all shapes and sizes… The resistance [i.e., Hezbollah] has arms. It is saying it in public, adding that it is rearming and increasing the scope of its armament in order to get more dangerous arms…”

b. Hezbollah is secretly transporting arms to the Israeli front: “The resistance [i.e., Hezbollah] notes that it is transporting the arms to the front. We do not hide it. Doing it in secret is only natural. Could we do it openly? How?... We concealed our arms because we wanted to conceal them from our enemies… We are transporting the arms in secret because it is our right… We are transporting the arms secretly and in straw trucks so as to not embarrass you [the Lebanese government]…”

c. Confiscating a Hezbollah arms truck by the Lebanese government (February 8): “…As for the resistance [i.e., Hezbollah] and the latest incident of [confiscating] the arms truck, which, incidentally, contained ammunition—that is, Katyushas —surprisingly, we heard many people claim that it was explosive charges, guns, and rifles, that we were smuggling for the parties [that is, for Lebanese parties allied with Hezbollah]… The customs know what the truck contained… The Lebanese army, too, submitted a report about it to senior officials… The arms confiscated [by the Lebanese government] are arms taken from their rightful owners…”

A civilian truck used by Hezbollah to smuggle arms, confiscated by the Lebanese army in the Beirut neighborhood of Hazimiyah (Reuters, February 8, photo by STR News). It is our assessment that the arms were smuggled from Syria . In his speech, Hassan Nasrallah expressed his dissatisfaction with the confiscation of the truck.

d. Hezbollah as the “defender of Lebanon ”, helping the Lebanese army: “In the last confrontation [that took place] in front of Maroun al-Ras, 1 members of the resistance [i.e., Hezbollah] were in top shape to assist the officers and soldiers of the Lebanese army if the conflict had developed. The resistance in south Lebanon [i.e., Hezbollah] is not a burden on the Lebanese army [but rather] genuine assistance for the Lebanese army. For our arms are the arms of the Lebanese army, our rockets are the rockets of the Lebanese army, our depots are the depots of the Lebanese army… Together, side by side, we will fight to defend Lebanon …”

e. Hezbollah is committed to continue terrorism in its capacity as the “defender” of Lebanon : “…We stress our commitment to the resistance [i.e., the way of violence and terrorism], to the cause of the resistance and to the project of the resistance that defends the homeland… I am saying that we will remain on the border, in Beirut , and everywhere in Lebanon . We are Lebanese, and this country is our country… Every clod of earth in the south is to us a drop of a shahid's blood. Every rock in the south is to us a shahid's body… Every olive tree in the south is to us the loving and sparkling soul of the jihad warriors of the resistance… and Hezbollah… is willing to wage jihad and persist with its struggle for justice in all areas…”

Assessment

3. In his speech, Hassan Nasrallah publicly admitted that Hezbollah is rebuilding its military arsenal, damaged in the war, and even claimed that it is well within its right to do so in its capacity (according to Nasrallah) as “the defender of Lebanon”.

4. Nasrallah's speech clearly demonstrates that Hezbollah systematically and fundamentally violates Security Council Resolution 1701 (August 12), in defiance of the Lebanese government and UNIFIL (and, in fact, the entire international community), which bear the responsibility to implement the resolution. According to Security Council Resolution 1701, Hezbollah and other terrorist elements must be disarmed as stipulated in the Taif Accord (1989) and in the relevant Security Council resolutions.

5. Contrary to Hassan Nasrallah's provocations regarding Hezbollah's rearming, he did not address the assistance his organization receives from Iran and Syria, the two countries behind Hezbollah's rehabilitation process. 3 The assistance extended by the two countries to Hezbollah is a blatant violation of Clause 15 in Security Council Resolution 1701, calling upon all countries to take the necessary measures to prevent the use of their territory or their ships and planes to provide arms, ammunition, and military equipment to unauthorized parties in Lebanon.

Khamenei Threatens US with Attacks

So what's the Dhimmicrats's plan? To sit back and wait? I want my America back.

Khamenei warns US not to attack Iran AP via JPost hat tip Michael

If the United States were to attack Iran, the country would respond by striking US interests all over the world, Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Thursday.

Speaking to a gathering of Iranian air force commanders, Khamenei said: "The enemy knows well that any invasion would be followed by a comprehensive reaction to the invaders and their interests all over the world."

Iranian leaders often speak of a crushing response to any attack. While the remarks are seen as an attempt to drum up national support, Iran's position on Iraq and its nuclear program has provoked more than usual international pressure in recent months.

US President George W. Bush has ordered American troops to act against Iranians suspected of being involved in the Iraqi insurgency and has deployed a second aircraft carrier to the Gulf area as a warning to Iran. The UN Security Council has imposed sanctions because of Iran's refusal to cease uranium enrichment, and is due to consider strengthening later this month.

"Some people say that the US president is not prone to calculating the consequences of his actions," Khamenei said in remarks broadcast on state television, "but it is possible to bring this kind of person to wisdom."

IRAN CHALLENGES EUROPE TO HAND OVER HOLOCAUST "PROOF" Breibart hat ip Jon

An Iranian government-sponsored body set up to probe the veracity of the Holocaust has challenged Europe to hand over documents about the mass slaughter of Jews in World War II

Mohammad Ali Ramin, the head of the "World Holocaust Foundation" created after Iran's controversial Holocaust conference last year, said Austria, Germany and Poland in particular should supply documents.

"They should hand over the proof for the dossier on the organized massacre of Jews in Europe during World War II to the independent international fact-finding committee affiliated to this foundation," the IRNA state news agency quoted him as saying on Tuesday.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ordered the creation of the foundation after inviting a number of controversial revisionist Holocaust researchers to a conference in Tehran in December that caused an international outcry.

Ahmadinejad has repeatedly questioned the scale of the Holocaust, described the mass killing of six million Jews in World War II as a "myth" and also called for Israel to be "wiped from the map".

The foreign researchers invited to the conference -- some of whom have criminal records at home -- gave papers claiming the Holocaust never happened on the scale assumed by the vast majority of historians.

Mainstream historians specialising in the Third Reich counter there is ample documentary proof that around six million Jews were killed by the Nazis in World War II although some estimates put the figure slightly higher or lower.

The UN General Assembly last month unanimously approved a US-proposed resolution condemning denial of the Holocaust, in a move diplomats said was directly aimed at Iran's stance.

More useless posturing by the notoriously Jew hating UN.

Iran Plays Big Role in Lebanon - Scheherezade Faramarzi
Iranian political influence in Lebanon is backed up by the biggest donation it has made to Hizbullah - an estimated $1.2 billion in 2006. Iran has already provided $300 million in cash to Hizbullah to repair the war damage. From GUYSEN: The political secretary of Hamas, Khaled Meshaal, based in Syria, called on the Palestinians to put an end to their fratricidal fighting.

''I call on all my brothers to show restraint and to remember that our real fight is directed against Israel... We want to put an end to the blood spilt by the different factions and go back to our true fight: the Intifada'', he said.

I couldn't disagree more. Murderers murdering each other is a positive development in the war on barbarism.

Ahmadinejad: On February 11, Islamic Republic's nuclear rights 'will be established'

"Giant achievements" by Iran will be unveiled by its president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in the coming days, the Iranian Fars news agency reported on Saturday.

The Iranian news agency said an upcoming dramatic announcement on Iran's nuclear "rights" would be made on February 11. The report was accompanied by a series of announcements heralding alleged Iranian technological and medical breakthroughs, including an "AIDS cure."   Ahmadinejad's "administration is going to publicize the country's remarkable progresses and achievements within the coming days," the Fars news agency said.

"The Iranian president also reiterated that February 11 is the day when the Iranian nation's inalienable right to access and use nuclear technology will be established," the agency added.

"The Iranian nation will celebrate stabilization and establishment of its nuclear rights during the Ten-Day Dawn, (sic)" Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying. The "ten-day dawn" in early February marks the date of the Islamic revolution in Iran in 1979.

Iran Behind Murder of US Soldiers

What's it going to take people? And why isn't this splashed across the front pages of our major dailies. Will the affable Eva Braun (the rapidly sinking Katie KKKouric)  make this her lead story? No, I think not. But those democratic assclowns in the "new" Congress will warn us against any action against the Islamic enemy, Iran here. Inconceivable.

Iran May Have Trained Attackers That Killed Five American Soldiers - James Glanz and Mark Mazzetti
Investigators say attackers who used American-style uniforms and weapons to infiltrate a secure compound and kill five American soldiers in Karbala on Jan. 20 may have been trained and financed by Iranian agents, according to American and Iraqi officials. The sophistication of the attack astonished investigators. A senior Iraqi official said the attackers had carried forged American identity cards and American-style M-4 rifles and had thrown stun grenades of a kind used only by American forces. BOLTON STRAIGHT TALKS IRAN, IRAQ TO
get this France Bwahahahahaha

Not sure its possible but I think John Bolton is busier now than he was as Ambassador to thAT collective negation of humanity, United Nations. Is he running for President? And if not why not?

Here he tells it to, the Fwenchies. Now that's rich. What he says is richer.

BOLTON FOR REGIME CHANGE IN IRAN

PARIS (AFP) - Negotiations with Tehran over  Iran's nuclear programme have failed and the only long-term option is regime change, former US ambassador to the UN John Bolton has said.

"We have to recognise it: negotiations have failed. Time is not on our side. I am not sure this view is shared in London, Berlin or Paris. But that is a mistake," Bolton told Le Monde newspaper Monday.

Did they actually run it. Le Monde ran it?

"The only response is to isolate (the Iranians) internationally as well as politically and economically. In the long term, in the I hope not very long term, the only real solution is regime change," he said.

Asked if this was the policy of the US administration, he said: "No. Regime change is not part of their working framework."

Ouch.

Bolton contradicts U.S. policy on Iraq International Herald Tribune

PARIS: John Bolton, the former U.S. envoy to the United Nations, said in an interview published in France that the United States had "no strategic interest" in a united Iraq.

"The United States has no strategic interest in the fact that there's one Iraq, or three Iraqs," he was quoted as saying in the French daily Le Monde. "We have a strategic interest in the fact of ensuring that what emerges is not a state in complete collapse, which could become a refuge for terrorists or a terrorist state."

The Bush administration has said it does not want Iraq divided.

The comments by Bolton marked the second time in less than a week that Bolton had contradicted Bush administration policy. On Fox News last week, he said the United States may not be able to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons because of a flawed diplomatic strategy.

Oh yeah and this gem

Asked about  President George W. Bush's plans to send in troop reinforcements to stem the violence in Iraq, he said it was the US's "last effort."

"If the Iraqis cannot straighten the situation, that's their fault," Bolton said.

Ouch (twice.)

I imagine this was Sarkozy's reaction, click here. hat tip Fausta More here too.

At least Hitler signed something, right?

Iran Asks for Time NY Sun  NASSER KARIMI -

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - Iran said Sunday it needs time to review a plan proposed by the head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency that calls for holding off on imposing U.N. Security Council sanctions if Tehran suspends uranium enrichment.

This is standard operating procedure for Iran. They borrow time (they don't even it buy it) and they use it to further their nuclear weaponry.

Was Kerry picking his nose in that clip?  I think I'm gonna be sick.

Jihad:[the struggle] Islam vs Infidels
Mein Kampf (My Struggle):‘true Aryans’ vs.non-Aryans

DAVID LITTMAN WRITES MOST URGENTLY (and rightly so);

We strongly urge the Secretary-General, the Human Rights High Commissioner and Council President, and all UN Member States, to take heed of the Iranian president’s ‘thinking’ – in particular that ideological parallel between the clear reference in his 26th October 2005 speech to a ‘Jihad ideology’: “the struggle [Jihad] between the Islamic world and the front of the infidels”, and to Hitler’s words in Mein Kampf (My Struggle), describing the ‘true Aryans’ pitted against non-Aryans! Are the horrors of the 20th century’s Nazi “final solution” to be repeated in the 21st – while the international community merely notes ‘with concern’ this gathering storm?   (hat tip Andrew Bostom)

ASSOCIATION FOR WORLD EDUCATION

WORLD UNION FOR PROGRESSIVE JUDAISM

United Nations-Geneva / Monday, 29 January 2007 (9:00am) Call for Firm Action Today to Condemn President Mahmoud Ahmadinajed

Urgent Appeal to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon / High Commissioner for Human Rights   Louise Arbour / President of the Human Rights Council Ambassador Luis Alfonso De Alba

We welcome the GA’s Resolution by consensus – co-sponsored by 103 States – which condemned, without reservation, any denial of the Holocaust, and the Secretary-General’s “strong desire to see this fundamental  principle respected both in rhetoric and in practice.” Speaking before the vote, Iran’s representative “fully dissociated himself from today’s entire hypocritical exercise,” alleging: “Its main sponsors had sought to present the text under ‘mischievous’ intent to pursue narrow political interests and misuse the Assembly.”

On the 2nd International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, we call on Member States of the United Nations to act decisively now by invoking the UN Charter and the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide – in order to bring President Mahmoud Ahmadinajed to trial before the International Criminal Court, and Iran before the UN Security Council. The reiterated call by   Iran’s president for Israel’s elimination is “inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations” (UN Charter, Chapter I, Article 2:4). And Article III (c) of the Genocide Convention is clear: “Direct and public incitement to commit genocide” (…) “shall be punishable.” Its Article IV states that: “Persons committing Genocide or any of the other acts enumerated in article III shall be punished, whether they are constitutionally responsible rulers, public officials or private individuals.”

At a Teheran Conference on 26th October 2005 Iranian President Ahmadinajed called for Israel to be “wiped off the map.” He also announced that: “very soon the stain of this disgrace will be purged from the centre of the Islamic world.” And he ominously warned all peacemakers: “Anybody who recognizes Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic nation’s fury.” In his 5th December 2005 speech to the Organization of the Islamic Conference in Mecca, he proclaimed that the major problem in the Islamic world was “the presence of the Zionist occupation in the heart of the Islamic region,” even predicting that its “judicious removal will pave the way to the appearance of Islam’s power in the successful management of global matters.” Last week he repeated his threatening scenario for the rapid demise of the State of Israel.

In a TV speech on 14th December 2005, he had referred to the Nazi genocide of 6 million Jews as a fabrication: “They have created a myth in the name of the Holocaust and consider it above God, religion and the prophets.” On 5th January 2006, Iran’s state-controlled TV screened a discussion on “the myth of the gas chambers” and “the truth of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.” Before the 2006 1st International Day of Commemoration in    Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, Ahmadinajed announced a special “Holocaust ‘Myth’ Conference”   in Teheran, which took place last month in defiance of world public opinion. In his 8th January 2007 letter to Human Rights Council President Luis Alfonso De Alba, Iran’s Ambassador Alireza Moayeri stressed that:  “The international conference on the Holocaust, held in Teheran, has been an academic event, to examine    and investigate the facts about a historical claim without any prejudice or judgment (...) This is a legitimate question that: while there are serious opposing ideas over the issue, in particular on the number of perished, among scholars around the world, why an artificial red line has to taboo [sic] the entire issue of the Holocaust, preventing to bridge this gap, in total contradiction of article 19 of the UDHR and article 19 of the ICCPR.”

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s "direct and public incitement to commit genocide" (by     the elimination of a Member State, i.e. “politicide”) requires FIRM ACTION TODAY. As was stressed   over the years: any “Contracting Party” may invoke article 8 of the post-Holocaust Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (approved on 9th December 1948, the day before   the Universal Declaration of Human Rights) and “call upon the competent organs of the United Nations   to take such actions…for the prevention and suppression of…any of the acts enumerated in article III.”   Iran’s defiance of the 1945 UN Charter is another reason for all persons and UN bodies to ACT NOW.

Iranian Star Wars

Iran Set to Try Space Launch - Craig Covault
Iran has converted its most powerful ballistic missile into a satellite launch vehicle that "will lift off soon" with an Iranian satellite, according to Alaoddin Boroujerdi, chairman of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission. U.S. agencies believe the launcher to be a derivation of the 800-1,000-mile-range Shahab 3 missile. The 30-ton rocket could also be a wolf in sheep's clothing for testing longer-range missile strike technologies.
Orbiting its own satellite would send a powerful message throughout the Muslim world about the Shiite regime in Tehran. There are concerns in the West that space launch upgrades could eventually create an Iranian intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) with a range of nearly 2,500 miles, giving Tehran the ability to strike as far as central Europe, well into Russia and even China and India. The U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency has told Congress that Iran may be capable of developing a 3,000-mile-range ICBM by 2015. (Aviation Week)

BOLTON: IRAN UN RESOLUTION "VERY WEAK"

"The disjunction between that objective and the diplomacy we have been pursuing is ultimately going to be a problem for the president," John Bolton said

In other words, there is nothing stopping this evil Islamic theocracy from acquiring nukes. The resolution is a placebo for Iran and an anti-depressant for the UN ASecurity Council.

Check out how AP is spelling Ambassador Bolton's name. AP can't spell his name but they get every terror jihadi name down cold. That said, he is the 411 from one of the only men you can trust;

Bolten:[sic] U.S. following flawed Iran plan AP

WASHINGTON - Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton says the United States may not be able to prevent        Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons because the Bush administration is following a flawed diplomatic strategy.

In an interview with Fox News airing Wednesday night, Bolton said that contrary to administration claims, the        U.N. Security Council resolution against Iran that was approved last month is "very weak."

Bolton stepped down in December after serving as U.N. ambassador for 16 months. He was the point man for the administration in the diplomatic debate over the resolution.

The former envoy said the diplomatic means chosen by the administration to halt Iran's nuclear program may not achieve the desired ends. "The disjunction between that objective and the diplomacy we have been pursuing is ultimately going to be a problem for the president," Bolton said.

He added that the administration placed too high a priority on achieving unity in the council.

"Pursuing the goal of unity detracts from the substantive goal of preventing Iran from getting nuclear weapons," Bolton said.

State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said Bolton and his U.N. team should take "great pride" in winning the 15-0 council vote against Iran. He said the U.S. would have preferred a stronger resolution but noted that compromise is a central element of international diplomacy.

On Dec. 24, after two months of debate, the council voted unanimously to punish Iran for refusing to suspend uranium enrichment.

The resolution orders all countries to stop supplying Iran with materials and technology that could contribute to its nuclear and missile programs. It also freezes Iranian assets of 10 companies and 12 individuals related to those programs.

"Is it a good, strong resolution? Yes," McCormack said. "And is it having real effects on Iran and their ability to develop nuclear weapons? I would argue yes to right now, and I think probably even more down the road if they continue down the current line of behavior."

North Korea is helping Iran to prepare an underground nuclear test. Under the terms of a new understanding between the two countries, the North Koreans have agreed to share all the data and information they received from their successful test last October with Teheran's nuclear scientists, and to assist Teheran's preparations to conduct its own - possibly by the end of this year.
Senior Western military officials are deeply concerned that the North Koreans' technical superiority will allow the Iranians to accelerate development of their own nuclear weapon. This Holocaust Will be different

This must be read. By you and everyone you can send it to. hat tip Eric

THIS HOLOCAUST WILL BE DIFFERENT Benny Morris

The second holocaust will not be like the first. The Nazis, of course, industrialized mass murder. But still, the perpetrators had one-on-one contact with the victims. They may have dehumanized them over months and years of appalling debasement and in their minds, before the actual killing. But, still, they were in eye and ear contact, sometimes in tactile contact, with their victims.

The Germans, along with their non-German helpers, had to round up the men, women and children from their houses and drag and beat them through the streets and mow them down in nearby woods or push and pack them into cattle cars and transport them to the camps, where "Work makes free," separate the able-bodied from the completely useless and lure them into "shower" halls and pour in the gas and then take out, or oversee the extraction of, the bodies and prepare the "showers" for the next batch.

The second holocaust will be quite different. One bright morning, in five or 10 years, perhaps during a regional crisis, perhaps out of the blue, a day or a year or five years after Iran's acquisition of the Bomb, the mullahs in Qom will convene in secret session, under a portrait of the steely-eyed Ayatollah Khomeini, and give President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, by then in his second or third term, the go-ahead.

The orders will go out and the Shihab III and IV missiles will take off for Tel Aviv, Beersheba, Haifa and Jerusalem, and probably some military sites, including Israel's half dozen air and (reported) nuclear missile bases. Some of the Shihabs will be nuclear-tipped, perhaps even with multiple warheads. Others will be dupes, packed merely with biological or chemical agents, or old newspapers, to draw off or confuse Israel's anti-missile batteries and Home Front Command units.

MALKIN IS BACK FROM BAGHDAD!

All I can say is thank Gd for this woman. It is Michelle, and those like her, that will save us all.

What I Saw in Iraq Michelle Malkin Wednesday, January 17, 2007

Last week, I embedded with U.S. Army troops at Forward Operating Base Justice in northern Baghdad. Outside the wire, we toured the slums and met with neighborhood leaders inching toward self- sufficiency in al Salam. We sipped chai with a sheikh who condemned terrorists on all sides. We watched residents bicker over a civil affairs blanket drop in Khadamiyah. We sat with slimy Mahdi Army apologists in Hurriya. We stopped by a Sunni insurgent enclave, which soldiers I patrolled with dubbed a "sniperville," in al Adil.

There's nothing glamorous or romantic about these missions. No one will make a movie about our men and women in uniform engaged in the tedious, painstaking business of moving Iraq toward stability and governability. But if the war is to be won -- if security is to be established and the foundations of a civil society bolstered -- this is ground zero. The troops I met ask only three things of their fellow Americans back home: time, patience and understanding of the enormous complexities on the ground.

House resolution calls for Ahmadinejad genocide charges

The non-binding resolution brought last week to the House’s Foreign Affairs Committee and initiated by Reps. Steve Rothman (D-N.J.) and Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), says statements by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad calling for the destruction of Israel amount to crimes according to the 1948 Convention on Genocide.

Chief Plagiarist Biden Stumps for Terrorists

Grandstanding on the backs of our soldiers, the Dems set a new low in American politics. Planning, plotting, legislating a defeat in Iraq. This is their "plan" while America gently sleeps. Biden, Kennedy, Kerry, what a motley crew of underachievers eh?

Biden Seeks to Govern Latest Push Eli Lake, NY Sun

American forces in Iraq yesterday wasted no time in implementing President Bush’s new gloves-off policy toward Iran, raiding an Iranian building in northern Iraq and arresting five Iranian Revolutionary Guard operatives.

An American intelligence official yesterday, speaking on condition of anonymity, described the five Iranians and another individual picked up in the raid in Irbil as “high value terrorists.” This official said that the individuals were believed to be behind attacks on American soldiers and random Iraqis.

Biden doesn't like that - going after terrorists that kill Americans. The media will never divulge his predilections for terrorists, plagiarism or lying.

The arrests yesterday appear to be part of a new American policy towards Iran unveiled last night by President Bush in his new war strategy. In that speech the president promised that Americans would disrupt supply lines to Iraq from Syria and Iran and “seek out and destroy the networks providing advanced weaponry and training to our enemies in Iraq.”

Hallelujah!

This passage of the speech has troubled the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Biden, a Democrat from Delaware. [Whatta pussy - Atlas] Yesterday at hearings on the new strategy, he asked Secretary of State Rice if the president believed he had the constitutional authority to conduct cross border raids from Iraq into Iran or Syria. Ms. Rice yesterday said in response, “I would not like to speculate on the president’s constitutional authority or to try and say anything that certainly would abridge his constitutional authority, which is broad as commander in chief.”

Mr. Biden, however, was not satisfied. He sent a letter yesterday afternoon to the White House asking the president whether he believed he had the authority to authorize such raids. At the hearing yesterday, he said, “I just want to make it clear, speaking for myself, that if the president concluded he had to invade Iran or Iraq in pursuit of these — or Syria — in pursuit of these networks, I believe the present authorization granted the president to use force in Iraq does not cover that, and he does need congressional authority.”

The Justice Department lawyer who helped draft many of the legal authorities after September 11 used by the White House to justify intensive interrogations, John Yoo, yesterday said he did not agree with Mr. Biden’s reading of the Constitution with regard to hot pursuit. “As a matter of practice and history, presidents have used force abroad without any congressional authorization,” Mr. Yoo said in an e-mail to The New York Sun, “including the war in Kosovo, which I do not recall Senator Biden challenging as a violation of the Constitution.”

In other words, STFU and let us defend our nation.

Iran: Boo-freakin-Hoo

If this is part of the new way forward for Bush's Iraq strategy, I say, I like it, I like it yes I do.

US IRAQ RAID DRAWS IRANIAN ANGER BBC

US forces have stormed a building in the northern Iraqi town of Irbil and seized six people said to be Iranians, prompting a diplomatic incident.

Iranian and Iraqi officials said the building was an Iranian consulate and the detainees its employees.

The US military said it was still investigating, but that the building did not have diplomatic status.

The troops raided the building at about 0300 (0001GMT), taking away computers and papers, according to local media.

AFP news agency quoted Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman as saying he did not know the nationality of the six but said they were "suspected of being closely tied to activities targeting Iraq and coalition forces".

Iran's Secret Plan for Chaos in Iraq

The one important question that was not answered in our interview with Tony Snow. IRAN.

Video: Iran's Secret Plan For Mayhem in Iraq

The New York Sun's Washington reporter, Eli Lake, discusses his story from the January 3 edition of the Sun, "Iran's Secret Plan for Mayhem." Mr. Lake tells Richard Miniter that his Sun story, detailing how Iran is supporting both Shiite and Sunni terrorists in Iraq, will shape President Bush's plans for Iraq.

The video can be watched here.

The original Sun story can be read here.

Bush did warn the Iranians in his speech. Bush said Tehran supports attacks on GIs

ELI LAKE Staff Reporter of the Sun WASHINGTON — President Bush says we are effectively at war with Iran. Mr. Bush, in a much-anticipated televised speech to the nation last night, accused the Islamic Republic of “providing material support for attacks on American troops.” Eschewing advice from his father’s secretary of state, James Baker, to open a dialogue with Iran and Syria, the president said American forces in Iraq would “disrupt” attacks from Syria- and Iran-backed terrorists, “interrupt” the supply lines reaching back to those countries, and “seek out and destroy the networks providing advanced weaponry and training to our enemies in Iraq.”

That last sentence is the closest Mr. Bush has come to announcing attacks on Iranian territory, where American intelligence and military leaders have said the most destructive improvised explosives used against American convoys are made.

[...] But he also announced that as part of the plan, American soldiers would be embedding with the Iraqi national army units sent out around Baghdad to establish regular patrols. A Power Point summary of the new Iraq strategy released yesterday by the White House notes that Iran has been “burrowing” Iranian actors inside the Iraqi government. Yesterday a senior administration official told reporters that members of Mr. Sadr’s Mahdi army would no longer be off limits. The new war strategy also contradicts the most prominent recommendation of the Iraq Study Group, co-chaired by former Secretary of State James Baker, which called for opening new negotiations with Iran and Syria and also for pressing negotiations with Israel.

John Bolton Speaks as a "Free Man"

I have to say because I am a private citizen and a free man again  - these are my personal views now. These sanctions resolutions are very disappointing. John Bolton 1/5/07

UPDATE: Argh ............ AIPAC has advised me  these remarks were made off the record.
This is coming from their NY office not Ambassador Bolton's.  I am taking the post down for now. I will, however,  run his response to the effectiveness of 1701 and how closely the UN had been monitoring the agreements on Lebanese Israeli border. And  what, in the event of violation, was is being done to enforce it;

I have to say I am going to give you a pretty discouraging answer on that point. I think that the enhanced UNIFIL which was agreed to with a lot of fanfare as part of  resolution 1701 has not been successful in fully accomplishing the mission that we wanted to give to it. There's no doubt Syria and Iran have very substantially resupplied and rearmed Hezb'Allah. The UNIFIL people have done essentially nothing about it. Those shipments across the Lebanese Syrian border have been reported by the UN itself not something that comes just from the United States.

It could be we are coming to a day of reckoning here on resolution 1701 and  whether  the cessation of hostilities that was established between Hezb'Allah and Israel is going to remain acceptable.

I would hope the United States in the near future begins to take the next step that we made a conscious decision not to make in 1701 and that is disarming Hezb'Allah.

The unspoken premise of 1701 was first you stop them from getting external assistance by imposing an arms embargo but then the next step is to disarm Hezb'allah  and we have not done anything on that. We are at the point , we have got to move to that second step.

Will update if there is a change.

Iran Supporting Both Sides in Iraq

In other words, Iran is at war with us in Iraq. We should have bombed the mullahs yesterday. WTF are we waiting for? More santions? It was a year ago that Iran was first brought before the UN security council - it then took 6 months for the Security Council to demand that Iran suspend enrichment by August 31  here. The nuclear circle jerk must end.

IRAN’S SECRET PLAN FOR MAYHEM CAPTURED DOCUMENTS SHOW SCHEME TO BACK BOTH SIDES IN IRAQ

By ELI LAKE New York Sun

WASHINGTON — Iran is supporting both Sunni and Shiite terrorists in the Iraqi civil war, according to secret Iranian documents captured by Americans in Iraq.

The news that American forces had captured Iranians in Iraq was widely reported last month, but less well known is that the Iranians were carrying documents that offered Americans insight into Iranian activities in Iraq.

An American intelligence official said the new material, which has been authenticated within the intelligence community, confirms “that Iran is working closely with both the Shiite militias and Sunni Jihadist groups.” The source was careful to stress that the Iranian plans do not extend to cooperation with Baathist groups fighting the government in Baghdad, and said the documents rather show how the Quds Force — the arm of Iran’s revolutionary guard that supports Shiite Hezbollah, Sunni Hamas, and Shiite death squads — is working with individuals affiliated with Al Qaeda in Iraq and Ansar al-Sunna. Another American official who has seen the summaries of the reporting affiliated with the arrests said it comprised a “smoking gun.” “We found plans for attacks, phone numbers affiliated with Sunni bad guys, a lot of things that filled in the blanks on what these guys are up to,” the official said.

One of the documents captured in the raids, according to two American officials and one Iraqi official, is an assessment of the Iraq civil war and new strategy from the Quds Force. According to the Iraqi source, that assessment is the equivalent of “Iran’s Iraq Study Group,” a reference to the bipartisan American commission that released war strategy recommendations after the November 7 elections. The document concludes, according to these sources, that Iraq’s Sunni neighbors will step up their efforts to aid insurgent groups and that it is imperative for Iran to redouble efforts to retain influence with them, as well as with Shiite militias.

Mohammad Ali Ramin, Advisor to Iranian President Ahmadinejad: "Hitler Was Jewish"

In a December 28, 2006 interview with the Iranian website Baztab, which is affiliated with Iranian Expediency Council Secretary Mohsen Rezai, Iranian Presidential Advisor Mohammad Ali Ramin said that Hitler was Jewish, and that Hitler's policies were aimed at bringing about the establishment of a Jewish state. Ramin added that Hitler acted under the influence of his powerful Jewish associates and in cooperation with Britain, since the latter shared his desire to force the Jews out of Europe.(1)

Ramin was recently appointed secretary-general of the new "world foundation for Holocaust Studies" established at the Iranian Holocaust Denial Conference in December.(2)

The following are excerpts from the interview:(3)

Adolf Hitler... Developed an Aversion to Judaism Because His Mother Was a Jewish Whore

"The Bolshevik Soviet government in Lenin's time, and later, in Stalin's – both of whom were Jewish, though they presented themselves as Marxists and atheists... – was one of the forces that, until the Second World War, cooperated with Hitler in promoting the idea of establishing the State of Israel. A book that was published about this... – titled Adolf Hitler, Founder of Israel by Hennecke Kardel, a German born in 1922 – proves that Hitler was Jewish, and that his grandmother was a Jewish prostitute. [Hitler's] father went by his mother's Jewish name until he was 40, and later changed his surname to Hitler.

"Adolf Hitler himself developed an aversion to Judaism because his mother was a Jewish whore. He first received [negative] information about the Jews in an Austrian monastery, (the book presents details and pictures of it), and from then on, he [tried] to escape his Judaism.

"Thus... Hitler simultaneously developed both feelings of solidarity with Judaism and feelings of hatred towards it, and this emotional ambivalence shaped his behavior towards the Jews. On the one hand, his entire family, the people who shared his views, and his associates who brought him into power and stood by him to the last – including his lovers and his personal doctor – were [all] Jewish. On the other hand, he welcomed the policy of expelling the Jews from Central Europe for two other reasons: Firstly, the establishment of a Jewish government in Palestine was an aspiration of the rich and influential Jews who surrounded him. Secondly, exiling the Jews from Europe and Germany was a general and historical demand of the Western Christian nations. With the full support of the British, and in coordination with them, Hitler addressed this general demand and [thereby] managed to gain widespread popularity in Europe. Obviously, publishing writings and information of this sort is forbidden in Germany and in the West...

"The Zionists recently... destroyed many documents and papers pertaining to the period before the war, which contained authentic statistics and figures regarding the Jews, such as how many Jews there were, where they [lived] and how they operated. One of the places that was destroyed completely and burned [to the ground] – and which... contained the most valuable documents pertaining to this matter – was the [building of] the newspaper Pravda, which had been published in Moscow for 80 years. On February 10, 2006, the building was set ablaze, and its entire archive, with all its back issues and photographs, was burned and destroyed, and not a trace of it was left. Nobody – not a single news agency anywhere in the world – investigated this historical crime or discussed it extensively..."

Netanyahu: "Iran Can Still Be Stopped"

I say, Iran MUST be stopped.

Iran Can Still Be Stopped Benjamin Netanyahu

It is possible to prevent the political and security landslide. Iran can still be stopped.

The government of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is rapidly leading Israel to a political and security downfall while Iran is racing towards achieving a nuclear weapons capability.

While Iran's leaders are busy denying the Holocaust, they also continue to announce their intentions of wiping the State of Israel off the map. Israel is like a bus speeding towards an abyss. The bus driver is tired and helpless.

Let's examine recent developments, which all have one common denominator: weak leadership....more here

If the government does not come to its senses immediately, Mr. Olmert must make way for another leadership that would guarantee both our existence and our future.

Israeli officials said up to several hundred Hamas operatives have recently left the Gaza Strip for Iran. They said the operatives were undergoing several weeks of military training by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. "The Hamas terrorists enter [Egypt's] Sinai Peninsula and then make their way to Syria and then Iran," an official said. "We have been detecting an increase in the flow of Hamas operatives leaving for Iran over the last two months." Hamas leaders have discussed expanding cooperation with Iran. In November, Palestinian Authority Interior Minister Said Siyam said Iran agreed to bolster training and funding to security forces aligned with Hamas.

Iranian president: Our scienists have reached zenith, accessed nuclear fuel cycle

Iran is now a "nuclear power," its President, Mahmoud Ahamdinejad, delcared Wednesday, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency .

Threat?

Ledens reports here on Iran's plot to kill Bush here;

Copley News Service reported a few weeks ago that we and the Jordanians had uncovered an Iranian-backed plot to assassinate Bush when he was in Amman. Copley told me the evidence is very good, even though the plot never came to anything, and nobody tried to kill the president. If the story is true, it would be a virtual replay of Saddam’s efforts to kill W’s father on a trip to the region while Clinton was president.

What does it take to get us to war, really?

A military aide to the commander of British forces in Afghanistan appeared in court yesterday accused of spying. Cpl Daniel James, 44, is charged under the 1911 Official Secrets Act with “prejudicing the safety of the state” by passing information “calculated to be directly or indirectly useful to the enemy”.

It was said he had communicated with a “foreign power” in the incident on Nov 2, believed to be Iran…The Daily Telegraph has learned that he acts as an interpreter for Gen David Richards, the commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan and one of the most senior officers in the Army.

That might well do it, don’t you think? Here the Brits have been appeasing the mullahs, and all the gratitude they get is–if the story checks out–an Iranian spy getting information that would be used to kill Her Majesty’s soldiers. And notice the suppressed premise in this story: Iran is working with the (Taliban) terrorists in Afghanistan.

Leaders take these things very personally, as well they should.

British Soldier in Afghanistan accused of spying for Iran

A close aide to the British commander of NATO troops in  Afghanistan has been accused of passing secrets about activities there to  Iran, press reports said.

Thursday's reports come as British-led forces struggle against fiercer than expected Taliban insurgents in the south of the country, invaded by US-led forces following the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.

Corporal Daniel James, an interpreter to Lieutenant General David Richards, the head of NATO's more than 30,000-strong force in Afghanistan, has been charged under the Official Secrets Act with "prejudicing the safety of the state."

Russia Nuking Up Islamic Iran

By their acts we shall know them, and so we know them.  This takes the (yellow) cake.  Russia has made it abundantly clear they are not an ally. Not.

Russia defies West and goes ahead with nuclear fuel sale to Iran Times Online

RUSSIA is to begin supplying Iran with nuclear fuel early next year despite mounting concern in the West that this could accelerate Tehran’s plans to build a nuclear bomb.

Sergei Shmatko, head of Atomstroyexport, Russia’s state nuclear fuel exporter, said last week that preparations to send fuel to Iran would start next month and the first consignment was expected to reach the Islamic republic in early spring.

The announcement, at a time when Russia is asserting itself as an energy power, has caused anxiety in western countries which are trying to convince the Kremlin to end its nuclear co-operation with Tehran.

The concerns were strengthened yesterday when President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was reported to have told a Kuwaiti envoy that Iran was ready to transfer its nuclear technology to neighbouring countries.

IRAN: Nukes for Everyone!

I can just see the left spin this story, "look they want to share, isn't that special?" But a nuked up Middle East is a really bad idea. Islamic nations all nuked up?

Iran - stirring up the pot. Begging for war, begging for it.

Iran offers to transfer nuke technology

Iran's president said Saturday his country was ready to transfer nuclear technology to neighboring countries, Kuwaiti television reported, a week after Arab states on the Persian Gulf announced plans to consider a joint nuclear program.

The television said Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told a top Kuwaiti envoy he welcomed the decision by the Islamic republic's Arab neighbors to pursue peaceful nuclear technology.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to transfer to regional states its valuable experience and achievements in the field of peaceful nuclear technology as a clean energy source and as a replacement for oil," the state quoted Ahmadinejad as telling Mohammed Zefollah Shirar, a top adviser to Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah.

Working Against American Interests

It is shocking to me that there are American leftist  politicians taking foreign policy into their own hands and negotiating with murderers while we are at war. How fortuitous for our enemy to exploit America's fifth column.  John sKerry ought to be arrested. This is an outrage. Stooge nelson is doing the same thing here;

CAIRO, Egypt - Sen. John Kerry, on a Mideast tour taking him to Damascus for talks with President Bashar Assad, said Friday that the Bush administration’s rejection of dialogue with Syria and Iran to try to calm Iraq is a mistake.

Kerry’s trip is the latest in a growing tussle between the White House and Congress over the recommendations of the Iraq Study Group, a bipartisan panel that called for talks with Iran and Syria to win their help in stabilizing war-torn Iraq.

The White House said Thursday that trips to Syria by U.S. lawmakers were "inappropriate," giving a public relations victory for Damascus, which the Bush administration accuses of fueling crises in Iraq, Lebanon and the Palestinian territories.

The Massachusetts Democrat said his visit to Syria was "a fact-finding mission" to explore "what might or might not affect behavior with respect to Hezbollah, Lebanon, Israel and Iraq, where in each of those cases Syria is playing a role."

"Dialogue is an important thing. It’s very hard to move the ball if you don’t know firsthand what people’s needs are, what their own perceptions are," Kerry said in an interview with The Associated Press and several other journalists in Cairo.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has rejected a bipartisan panel's recommendation that the Bush administration engage Syria and Iran in efforts to stabilize Iraq, The Washington Post reported on Friday.

what’s going on?

history. governance. american style. the same old stuff since the beginning of our ongoing brawl, our sitcom/soap opera carried on in the roiling streets for all to see. since, forever.

thomas jefferson, the louisanna purchase, premised on dubious legal authority but it seemed like a good deal at the time. john marshall’s opinion in marbury v. madison, based as much on fancy and opportunity as express constitutional authority, but his exegesis of the argument in support of his result seemed convincing enough.

aaron burr was tried for treason, basically for attempting to secure the louisanna purchase and establish a separate country there, under his tutelage and rule.

the alien and sedition acts.

the whiskey rebellion. shay’s rebellion. the revolution. the civil war.

the lincoln cabinet, everyman jack of which thought that he was smarter and more able than lincoln, everyman jack of which proclaimed that opinion, and strived his mightiest to prove it and shape policy in light of that opinion. lincoln’s famous dictum about staying very, very close to you friends, and closer to your enemies.

civil war candidates for president, who were quite rightly chucked into the dust bin of history. quick, name as many as you can.**

manifest destiny. the monroe doctrine. fashioned from whole cloth.

woodrow wilson’s wife, whatever her name was besides mrs. wilson, running the country while her husband lay stricken.

i am in charge here.

the warren commission.

the bay of tonkin resolution.

old warriors never die, they just fade away. and who was to blame mccarthur for thinking he could run the korean war, in his mind he had run the war in the pacific in wwii, and he most certainly did as he damned well pleased in the matter of the japanese occupation.

and, he would have run the korean war entirely on his own, if harry truman hadn’t reigned him in.

harry truman, head of the machine that ran kansas city, a historical accident.

the los alamos scientists, who met in committee with the scientific director, the father of the atom bomb, what’s his name, completely in the absence of the commanding general groves, to discuss whether or not they should complete the atom bomb, given the fact of germany’s surrender. if what’s his name had not had such complete respect from his fellow scientists, a whole lot of émigré and émigré jewish physicists whose politics were just as inexplicable then as they are now, the atom bombs quite likely would have died stillborn, almost but not quite at birth.

father coghlin. charles lindberg. pater familias kennedy. and a host of other fifth columnists nazi supporters and sympathizers and commie haters that sought to prevent the u.s. entry into the war against germany, and who did everything they could to engender support and sympathy for germany. lindberg traveled to germany several times, spoke glowingly of the “order” there, and in admiration of their military might, and was photographed with them. when wwii broke out, such was the enmity toward him that he was refused service in the u.s. military, only able to cadge a few rides piloting fighter planes in reconnaissance missions against the japanese. he was not trusted with a fighter that he might have given over to the germans.

longshoreman on the east coast docks who sabotaged war time shipping to the european theatres, and whose sabotage was ended only when the mafiosi came in to police the docks, and discipline the saboteurs, which they did, silently and effectively. in that regard, the west coast docks, run by harry bridges, supported by the i.w.w., or the “wobblies”, stayed fairly orderly, given their support of the soviet union.

speaking of the wobblies, a bunch of them convened pre-war in yakima, washington, and for their troubles were herded by national guardsman wielding bayoneted rifles, and loaded machine guns, into barbed wire pens before they were dealt summary justice in the local courts.

43 presidents. __ assassinated. __ wounded in assassination attempts. __ missed in assassination attempts. a goodly percentage of american presidents, shot and wounded or killed, or shot at and missed.

aaron burr, again, who shot the brains out of the federalist party. duels between gentlemen. political adversaries.

editors. always an american tradition to ransack an editorial office, and destroy the printing presses, or kill or tar and feather the editor, or tar and feather the editor and then hang the pernicious bastard.

lynch mobs. the klu klux klan. the famous episode when a town of black and florida was burnt and razed to the ground, and its inhabitants dispersed or killed. in our locale, a considerable number of asian and japanese miners in the roslyn & cle ellum areas simply were not to be found the monday after pearl harbor, but the 15 or 16 other ethnic groups supporting that number of ethnic minorities in that area were there the next morning.

and, my favorite. (from english history, but it illustrates the point.)

the pinch faced little prune who married mrs. (wallace) simpson, and “gave up” his throne.

at the start of wwii, given a uniform and dispatched to france. was such a blabber mouthed twit, that they tried to keep him from cocktail parties where he blathered intelligence to anyone who would listen. at the fall of france, he did not return to england, but ensconced in portugal and spain, hot beds of axis spying, and it is reported/reputed, where he talked with the axis powers about being replaced on the throne of england, should the axis invade england. an english petain: it is not known if anything so drastic as leading axis troops ashore was discussed.

it got so bad, that churchill wrote the little bastard a fairly direct letter to the effect, come home now, or come home in a box. he returned to england under duress, whereupon he was given another uniform, and shipped off to the caribbean to be governor general of that british island where they wear the shorts, bermuda, i think it was.

my point.

things are not always as they might seem.

and, history is a lot neater from the long view than it is up close and while it is happening. things are never as certain as they seem afterward.

it ain’t over, until it is over.

so, what is going on.

we will know, 20 years from now, when someone writes the definitive version.

(oh, yes, back to england, where a surprising amount of “scholarship” is being devoted to a revisionist view of churchill, who is described as having forced england’s jump into wwii precipitously, without exploring all of the diplomatic channels that might have prevented ruinous war. sort of ignores the invasions of poland and france, but, what the hey, newer truths have to be served.)

Ayn Rand at 100: "Yours is the Glory"

  • Aynrandstamp_1

  • Speaking to the unnamed, unchampioned, beating heart of her new land, Ayn was to say: 'Yours is the glory.'"
A man whose ability and independence leads others to reject him, but who perseveres nevertheless to achieve his values. Man as an individual, as a creator. What's the most depraved type of human being? Not a sadist or a murderer or a sex maniac or a dictator; "The man without a purpose." Yet most people seem to go through their lives without a clearly defined purpose.

  • Life has Loveliness to sell,
    All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fires that sways and swing,
    And children's faces looking up,
    Holding wonder like a cup

    Life has Loveliness to sell,
Music like a curve of Gold,
Scent of pinetrees in the rain,
Eyes that love you, arms that hold,
And for your spirit's still delight,
Holy stars that star the night.

Spend all you have for loveliness,
    Buy it and never count the cost;
For one white singing hour of Peace
Count many a year of strife well lost
And for a breath of ecstasy
Give all you have been, or could be.
