The ringleader and his "Gang of Barbarians" were found guilty in diverse degrees of luring, kidnapping, and torturing Ilan Halimi, a young Jewish man unspeakably tortured and killed because ..... he was a Jew.
One teenage member admitted having put out a cigarette on Halimi’s face “because he didn’t like Jews.”

He was naked, handcuffed, and bleeding profusely. He was incapable of speaking. His entire body — or “80% of it,” according to police — had been butchered. Youssouf Fofana, the leader of a gang known as the Barbarians is suspected of posting anti-Semitic videos online. Fofana was jailed in 2009 for torturing and killing a Jewish man in the Paris suburbs.
“I am Fofana, Youssouf, a young Muslim who has flaws and who has made mistakes,” says the man on the videos posted on YouTube. The man insists he is a “war trophy” taken by New York zionists, le daily L’Est-Eclair reveals.
“It’s unacceptable to see something like that today,” said Emmanuel Gauthrin, an official working for the prison section of the trade union FO, in an interview with Le Monde.
French prosecutors in the town of Troyes have opened a inquiry into how the videos were posted on the web. Le Monde reports that Fofana’s cell was searched and that no recording equipment was found inside.
Fofana, the leader of a gang called the Barbarians, was handed a life sentence in 2009 for the murder of a Jewish man Ilan Halimi.

The verdict in the appeals trial of 17 members of the Gang of Barbarians, guilty in diverse degrees of luring, kidnapping, and torturing Ilan Halimi, was announced this Friday evening. Ilan Halimi’s mother, sisters, and brother-in-law, who are observant Jews, could not be in court to hear the verdict handed down two hours after the beginning of shabat.. The verdict in the lower court trial had been rendered at 10 PM on Friday July 13, 2009.
Jail terms were increased for seven of the seventeen defendants; the other ten were unchanged. The defense lawyers were exasperated. “All of this for nothing!” If it were nothing more than a few years added to the prison terms of seven defendants, one might be tempted to agree that it was not worth two and a half months of hearings at great expense of time, effort, and public funds. The plaintiffs’ lawyers, on the contrary, were deeply satisfied. Why? This time, they say, the presiding judge organized the hearings in such a way that the full weight of the ordeal in all its horror was rendered. The mastermind Youssouf Fofana, who called himself the “Brain of the Barbarians,” was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Ilan Halimi, with aggravating circumstances of anti-Semitism. After the public prosecutor appealed the lower court verdict for the seventeen defendants, Fofana interjected an appeal on his own behalf. And then withdrew it. He was expected to appear in court, however, as a witness. But he created so many disturbances in the first days of hearings that the judge refrained from summoning him thereafter. In the absence of Fofana, whose unrepentant vice had dominated the first trial, the vices of the other defendants were, according to lawyers for the plaintiffs, brought to light.
If, as the defense lawyers would have us believe, the aim of the retrial was to radically increase the severity of the punishment, the whole operation could be seen as futile. The trial, once more, was held behind closed doors—without any media presence-- on the grounds that two of the defendants were under eighteen when the crime was committed. Elsa Vigoureux, who writes a blog for Le Nouvel Observateur weekly, covered the lower court trial in great detail… from one side. Her blog was based almost exclusively on information slipped to her from defense lawyers. She told me, in a private conversation, that she also had the file of the investigation (which is supposed to be made available to a very limited number of people involved in the case).
This time, lawyers for the plaintiffs decided to inform certain journalists, primarily from a Jewish radio station, Radio J. And Ms. Vigoureux showed far less interest in the case. Could we say that the lower court trial was a smokescreen and the appeals trial a sincere attempt to render justice based on a thorough examination of the facts and the personalities involved, revealing the extent of their cruelty and the twisted nature of their minds? The picture that emerges this time is consistent with the horrors endured by Ilan Halimi, held prisoner for 24 days in a makeshift death camp. His jailors and tormentors could not hide, this time, behind a sociological screen… wayward youths manipulated by a monster. The monstrosity of each and every one came to light.
Behind closed doors. The next step is to make those truths public, with the help of those who defended the victims of the Gang of Barbarians.

Reactions are
starting to come in. From the Jewish community, hearts are swelling
with love for France. You have to know how little it would take for
French Jews to forget the ugly past and trust their nation once
again. Dismayed by the cover-up, the secret trial, the verdict
announced in the dark of night, they—I can say “we”—awaken in
the sunshine on the eve of the Quatorze juillet (vulgarly called
Bastille Day by foreigners). Our voice has been heard. Justice will
be done. Nicolas Sarkozy has not abandoned us.
I have to say that I
am not happy when readers react to my articles with
France-to-the-garbage-heap comments. First, because it is a way of
overlooking what’s going wrong in our own country, the USA. And
second because it obscures the fact that we are dealing with a global
phenomenon: Jihad conquest adapts to every situation. Third,
freedom-loving Americans can’t give up on Europe. And fourth, if
enough people had listened to us when we were telling you what was
happening here, Barack Hussein Obama would not be president of the US
today.

In a show of
disrespect for the family of Ilan Halimi, victim of the most
atrocious anti-Semitic crime committed in France since World War II,
the court announced the verdict after 10 PM on Friday night—the
Sabbath—on the eve of the July 14th
holiday weekend. Emma, the young lady who lured 23 year-old Halimi
into the cruel trap was sentenced to nine years in prison. Youssouf
Fofana, the “Brain of the Barbarians,” who admits he finished off
his Jewish victim, after 24 days of torture, stabbing him five times
and setting him aflame, gets “life” in prison (with a possibility
of parole after 22 years). The other 25 accomplices or accessories
were given jail terms ranging from acquittal to 18 years. The motive
of anti-Semitism was retained for some of the defendants, but did not
incur the corresponding ten-year increase in jail terms. Two men who
played a key role in the Halimi kidnapping are on the loose because
the police couldn’t persuade any of the defendants to cough up
their names.
The two-month trial
was held behind closed doors in juvenile
court because two of the defendants were just under 18 when the crime
was committed. Ruth Halimi, the victim’s mother, pleaded in vain
for an open hearing. In January 2006 she had vainly entreated
investigators to recognize the anti-Semitic motive of her son’s
jailers. For 24 days the police followed false trails, overlooked
clues, missed chances to nab the mastermind, and bungled negotiations
for unrealistic ransom demands that were little more than a pretext
for the torture inflicted on Ilan Halimi. The photo sent to the
family the day after his disappearance tells it all: Ilan’s face is
totally plastered with thick silver duct tape. His eyes and mouth are
sealed shut, leaving a small hole for his broken nose.
He was kept
naked--first in an unheated apartment, then in a boiler room--fed
liquids through a straw, forced to eliminate in a plastic bag,
beaten, kicked, pummeled… No one will ever know the extent of his
ordeal. Playing on the nuances of French law that supposedly
establishes the exact degree of participation of each individual in a
collective crime, defense lawyers portrayed their clients as lost
sheep haplessly involved in a seemingly normal short-term business
enterprise…even when it became obvious that the whole thing was
bungled and only the torture was real.
Late Friday
afternoon, the press, alerted by rumors
that the verdict would be pronounced before nightfall. We stood for
hours in the halls of the Palais de Justice before being admitted
into the antiquated courtroom. The atmosphere was weirdly festive, as
defense lawyers chatted with each other and fussed over their
clients, half-hidden from our view behind a glassed-in cubicle. It
was after 10 PM when the presiding judge finally announced—in a
barely audible voice-- prison terms for the 27 defendants, from life
to 18 years, to 15, 13, 11 and by even increments all the way to six
months suspended sentence and, for two of them, acquittal. Most
prisoners are released in France after serving half their terms.
The whole thing has
been hushed up and tucked away under front page stories about holiday
traffic jams and the Tour de France bicycle race.
Last week Maître Francis Szpiner, representing the Halimi family,
expressed his misgivings about the indulgent recommendations to the
jury of the Avocat Général—a sort of voice of the people and the
Bench. Interviewed Friday night after the lenient verdict was
announced, Szpiner called upon the Minister of Justice to appeal (the
plaintiffs do not have the right to appeal). Several Jewish
organizations have called for a gathering Monday night in front of
the Justice Ministry at Place Vendôme…at the same place where
enraged Islamists shouting “Death to Israel, Death to the Jews”
made a show of force in January.

The news was made public just before Shabbat, late in the evening, apparently because the authorities were afraid of public disturbances. Actually, police forces had been posted around the Law Court where some demonstrators had nevertheless gathered. A rally should take place on Monday at the Ministry of Justice in Paris .
Apparently, Fofana, the Manson-like Muslim barbarian leader, is quite popular with the Muslim community in France.

So systemic is the Jew hatred in France that it impeded rescuing Ilan or securing his release. Halimi's family
said that throughout Ilan's entire captivity, the French police refused
to move on any of the evidence that pointed to an anti-Semitic motive.
Instead, the police conducted a routine kidnap investigation (which
invariably involves ransom, not death). The police refused to
pursue the anti-Semitic motivations of the kidnappers in spite of the
fact that, according to newspaper accounts, "in their e-mail and
telephone communications with Ilan's family, his captors repeatedly
referred to his Judaism, and on at least one occasion recited verses
from the Koran while Ilan was heard screaming in agony in the
background".
The
family begged the police to listen to torturous phone calls from the
kidnappers and acknowledge that Ilan was abducted because he was
Jewish. Clearly, had the police not acted in judeophobic fashion, they
would have recognized that Ilan's life was in terrible danger and taken
urgent action. But law enforcement was not the only guilty party. The
government refused to acknowledge the anti-Semitic motives behind the
torture and killing a full week after the Halimi turned up mutilated
and dead.
This was not new, of course. In 2003, Sebastian Sellam,
a popular disc jockey at a hot Parisian night club called Queen known
as DJ Lam C (a reverse play on his surname) was on his way to work when
in an underground parking lot, a Muslim neighbor slit Sellam’s throat
twice. His face was completely mutilated with a carving fork. Even his
eyes were gouged out.
It has taken three
years to bring this case to trial and even now, they are hiding their
dirty little secrets behind closed doors.
FP: How come this trial is not receiving any attention or coverage?

enforcement and the media now covering up why this horrifying crime was
committed? Better to let a Jew get tortured and killed than to point to
the truth about what Islam teaches and what many Muslims believe and
are ready to act upon, yes? This is Jew-Hate and a surrender to Islam
simultaneously, yes?
Geller: Yes, exactly. This is a strain of anti-Semitism in Europe that has never been eradicated. There is never any discussion of
Islamic anti-Semitism, and it is fundamental to Islamic teachings. This
refusal to acknowledge the obvious gives tacit approval to incitement
to violence. It is unsafe to walk about many European cities with any
identifying Jewish apparel or accessories on. Is that what Europe learned from World War II? Is that the lesson that Europe took away from the holocaust?
The lesson that Europe
had decided to avail itself of in the aftermath of Auschwitz was not
that evil is bad and that they behaved like monsters, but rather that
everything was caused by nationalism -- and therefore, what they really
needed to do was have a European Union that would obviate their need
for nationalism, so that they could become this transnational
gobbletygook. They'd all get together and therefore they wouldn't have
another Auschwitz.
But really the lesson should have been that they were evil and they had
to be good. And that is the lesson they still have to learn. You have
to be able and willing to make moral distinctions and stand up for the
good and fight evil, and that is something the Europeans refuse to do.

Even one member of the gang who dropped out of the gang because he was shocked by their violence did not call the police.

When Ilan was found, the head of the fire department who was called
to the scene, this man with decades of experience, almost fainted when
he saw him. The last thing Youssef Fofana (leader of the murdering
gang, the barbarians) did was to slit Ilan's throat twice and pour an
inflammable liquid on him and try to set it on fire. But this did not burn him to
death, because Ilan walked for perhaps one hour, trying still to find a
way to live.

There is more information trickling out on the Halimi cover up (which I wrote about for Israel National News and Front Page magazine). An anonymous observer of the trial of 27 savages, taking place behind closed doors because two of the barbarians are "juveniles", tells us the ringleader confessed:
Youssouf Fofana, the presumed leader of the "gang of barbarians", confessed on Friday to killing French Jew Ilan Halimi in 2006 after detaining and torturing him for three weeks, said a source familiar with the case.
The trial is being held behind closed doors at a juvenile court in Paris because two of the remaining 26 defendants were minors at the time of the murder.
According to the source, who was present at the hearing, Fofana said "Yes, I did it; you know very well that it was me" during the presentation of the findings of two forensic experts who had examined Halimi's body.
AFP further quoted the source as saying that Fofana admitted to pouring a flammable liquid on Halimi and then setting him alight.

He died on the way to the hospital and was later buried in Israel.
After the murder, Fofana fled to Ivory Coast, where he made death threats by telephone to Halimi’s father and girlfriend. He was extradited to France on March 4, 2006 and was charged with premeditated murder, demanding ransom, and acts of torture and barbarism. He faces a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

After many unsuccessful attempts to lure Jewish guys to a brutal and horrible death..... Amaros translates this:
She is basically claiming to be a victim, of life and Fofana. She did this
for 5000 euros promised by Fofana. What the article says is that she was a minor
when arrested so her name and testimony can remain secret unless she hersefl
herself, an adult today, decides to reveal herself. Her lawyer said no way.
She wrote a letter expressing contrition to the Halimis. (cough)

What is happening to the story concerning the
murder of this defenseless Jew, is akin to the media's penchant for
describing honor murders of hapless girls and women by their male
relatives, as simply being the victims of "domestic violence".
Islam, pure Islam, is the reason behind these brutalities, and those who attempt to dismiss it as such (attention UPI analyst, TOBY ARCHER),
only helps to cover up the real reasons why it occurs, and prolong the
suffering of the helpless at the hands of an intolerant, misogynist and
violent political/belief system. Pamela describes Ilan's uncle, Rafi
Halimi, account of "the gang phoning the family on several occasions
and made them listen to the recitation of verses from the Koran, while
Ilan's tortured screams could be heard in the background."
The photo is worthy
of the name of the magazine whose cover it adorns: “Shock” or “Choc” in French. It shows a man whose
head has been wrapped in duct tape. His face is completely covered except for a
small space that has been left for his nose. The nose is bloodied. The man’s
hands are bound in front of him, likewise with tape. A key chain has been hung
on his fingers: perhaps to help identify him or perhaps as a subtle threat to
his family or friends. The man is seated in front of an orange and purple drape,
evidently to hide his surroundings. A copy of the Parisian daily Le Parisien has
been propped up on his arms in front of his chest, thus indicating the date.
Emerging from off frame, a gloved-hand holds a gun pressed against the man’s
temple. The man in the photo is Ilan Halimi: the
23-year-old French Jew who was kidnapped, tormented, and killed by a self-styled
“gang of barbarians” in the Parisian banlieue in early
2006.
PARIS (JTA) -- A French magazine featuring a handcuffed Jewish murder victim
on its cover was ordered removed from sales racks.
The photo of the 23-year-old Halimi was taken by his kidnappers, a gang
called the Barbarians, and sent to the victim’s family as part of a threat
demanding ransom money. Not long afterward Halimi was found naked, bound and
beaten to the point of death beside subway tracks near Paris in February 2006.
He died a short time later.
In the photo Halimi’s face is covered with silver masking tape, with an
opening for air left around his bloodied nose. His hands are bound, and the arm
of one kidnapper can be seen holding a black pistol to his head.
The gang is now on trial for kidnapping and murdering Halimi. Some of the 27
suspects, including leader Youssouf Fofana, also are accused of committing the
crime from anti-Semitic motives.
NY Times reporter Meg Bortin wrote last week: "In the two and a half weeks since 27 people went on trial [in Paris]
for the brutal 2006 kidnapping, torture and killing of a young Jewish man,
little has filtered out about the proceedings." Worse still, the little that has emerged indicates the government and law enforcement did everything in their power to hide and obscure the Jew hatred motivation of this crime by these Muslims.
Despite the sensational nature of the case and the serious issues it
has raised — from the rise of anti-Semitism in some sectors of French society to
the way the police handled the investigation — the French are essentially unable
to follow the courtroom drama because of a law that bans the public and the
media from trials that involve minors. …
Missing … is a public engagement
with the troubling issues that were raised by the horrifying nature of the
crime, in which Ilan Halimi, 23, was kidnapped, bound in tape, hidden in sordid
conditions, beaten, slashed, burned and finally thrown into the street after 24
days, only to die of his wounds before reaching a hospital.
“I find it
abnormal that the trial is being held behind closed doors,” his mother, Ruth
Halimi, said during a break in the trial. She said the defendants were
displaying a casual attitude that she found shocking. “The trial should have
been held in public,” she said, “so that everyone could know what took
place.”
The law mandating that the trial be closed applies to defendants
who were under 18 at the time of the crime, even if they are no longer minors.
In this case, two of the accused were 17 when Mr. Halimi was kidnapped. Only
they can ask that the secrecy be lifted, and they did not do so.
Lawyers
on both sides of the case voiced regret.
“The culture of secrecy has no
place in a democracy,” said Daphné Pugliesi, who is representing Cédric Birot
Saint-Yves, who has been charged with being one of Mr. Halimi’s “jailers.” Ms.
Pugliesi asserted that the aim of a criminal trial was “for society to
understand the reasons why a grave crime like this one was
committed.”
…As a result of the media ban, virtually nothing will be
known soon about what is said by the accused — 18 men and 9 women, all French
nationals aged 20 to 35 — or the 162 witnesses and 50 experts who are expected
to testify before the trial is to conclude on July 10.
…When the trial
began on April 29, reporters were allowed into the courtroom for a few hours —
long enough to hear [Youssouf Fofana, now 28,] shout “Allah Akbar,” God is
Great, and declare his date of birth as Feb. 13, 2006, the day Mr. Halimi was
found dying alongside railroad tracks in a suburb south of Bagneux.

May 12, according to the Observateur blog, the presiding judge, Nadia Ajjan,
appointed two new lawyers to represent Mr. Fofana because of the frequent
absence from court of his original attorneys: Emmanuel Ludot, who helped defend
Saddam Hussein in Iraq in 2004, and Isabelle Coutant-Peyre, who is married to
the terrorist known as Carlos the Jackal and has defended several radical
Islamists.
One of the issues debated since the crime took place is the
police’s handling of Mr. Halimi’s kidnapping. [His mother, Ruth Halimi,] asserts
in “24 Days,” a scathing book published last month, that the elite Criminal
Brigade bungled the case by imposing secrecy during the kidnapping and by
missing several opportunities to arrest Mr. Fofana, who made two trips to Ivory
Coast while Mr. Halimi was being held.

Many of the rioters were young people of North African or black African origin,

A self-proclaimed Muslim barbarian shouted his contempt for his judges
yesterday at the start of his trial for the torture and murder of a young Jewish
man.
Youssouf Fofana, 28, who led a loose-knit gang of youths from an immigrant
housing estate, swaggered into court and shouted “Allah will conquer” as the
court began hearing a case into a killing that horrified France and the world
Jewish community in 2006.
Mr Fofana and most of his 26 alleged accomplices have admitted their roles in
the kidnapping of Ilan Halimi, 23, an assistant in a Paris telephone shop, who
was held for ransom for 24 days in the suburb of Bagneux. Mr Fofana, whose
parents came to France from Ivory Coast, denies killing the victim, who was tied
up in a cellar and tortured with acid, cigarettes and knives. He died in an
ambulance after Mr Fofana dumped him by a railway line and allegedly set him
alight.
The crime symbolised the casual and violent anti-Semitic culture among the
young on the immigrant estates. It shocked France because many residents,
including parents of gang members, were alleged to have been aware that Mr
Halimi was being held. Some allegedly took turns in guarding the captive for a
few euros. Half the defendants, mainly teenagers at the time, face charges of
failing to render assistance or alert police.
The racially charged trial proceeded in camera because two of the accused
were minors in 2006, including Emma, 19, of Iranian background, who is alleged
to have lured Mr Halimi to his doom by visiting his shop and inviting him on a
romantic date.
Ruth Halimi, the victim's mother, has accused the police of bungling the
inquiry. She initially attacked the Government, including Nicolas Sarkozy, then
the Interior Minister, for playing down its anti-Semitic aspect.
After thousands demonstrated, Mr Sarkozy promised Jewish leaders that
everything would be done to bring all those involved to justice.
Mr Fofana faces life imprisonment if convicted of kidnapping, torture and
murder, aggravated by anti-Semitic motives, a specific charge in French law.
He should be tortured for three weeks and executed as Halimi was. Anything less is a gross injustice.
Mrs Halimi sat apparently praying in court as Mr Fofana, bearded and in a
white tracksuit, grinned at her and jokingly told the judges that his name was
“Arabs African revolt barbarian Salafist army”. Salafism is a fundamentalist
movement espoused by many young immigrant radicals.[Muslims]
Mrs Halimi has been waging a campaign to keep the spotlight on the
anti-Semitic motives behind the crime. Mr Fofana's accomplices are alleged to
have said that he picked the victim because he was Jewish and “Jews have money
and they stick together”.
Main Jewish group voiced indignation after it emerged a gang had locked up and attacked a Jewish youth.

Wednesday after it emerged a gang had locked up and attacked a Jewish youth in
the same Paris suburb where a young Jew was tortured to death two years ago.

Six youths from Bagneux, south of Paris, are accused of locking up a
19-year-old youth in a storage room on February 22, beating and sexually
tormenting him, and scrawling 'dirty Jew' and 'dirty faggot' on his face.
Aged 17 to 25, the youths -- who knew the victim -- had falsely accused him
of stealing from them, according to judicial officials. The young man was
later hospitalised "in a state of shock"..
Richard Prasquier, head of the French Council of Jewish Institutions, the
CRIF, said the incident confirmed the "need to remain vigilant in the face of
anti-Semitism."
Vigilant. Vigilant? The man should be flogged for even using the word.

The youths face charges of group violence motivated by a person's "real or
supposed race, religion or sexual orientation", acts of torture, blackmail and
theft..
A young Jewish man, 23-year-old Ilan Halimi, was kidnapped for three weeks
and tortured to death by a violent extorsion gang from Bagneux in 2006, in a
suspected anti-Semitic crime that shocked the country..
Close to 30 people are under investigation over the killing, with the
gang's alleged ringleader, Youssef Fofana, to stand trial for murder in the
coming months.
Anti-Semitism is a sensitive issue in France, where the 600,000-strong
Jewish community is western Europe's largest, and which is also home to a
five-million strong Muslim population.
Almost 850
years ago, elaborating on the depth of Muslim hatred for the Jews in his era
(contra the deceitful allusions of the “dialogue” letter), Maimonides made this profound observation regarding the
Jewish predilection for denial, a feature that he insists will hasten their
destruction.
We
have acquiesced, both old and young, to inure ourselves to humiliation…All this
notwithstanding, we do not escape this continued maltreatment [by Muslims] which
well nigh crushes us. No matter how much we suffer and elect to remain at peace
with them,they stir up strife and sedition.
The Jews
and their communal leaders like Maimonides living under Islamic rule in the
Middle Ages—vanquished by jihad, isolated, and well-nigh defenseless under the
repressive system of dhimmitude—can be excused for their submissive denial.
There is no such excuse in our era given the existence of an autonomous Jewish
State of Israel, and a thriving Western Jewish diaspora living under the blanket
of hard won protections for their religious freedom, physical security, and
dignity.
When the late 23 year-old Parisian Jew
Ilan Halimi was being tortured to death in February 2006, his Muslim torturers,
as Nidra Poller wrote in the Wall Street Journal“…phoned the family on several occasions and made them
listen to the recitation of verses from the Qur’ran, while Ilan’s tortured
screams could be heard in the background.” In the heart of Western Europe, Ilan Halimi’s torturers/murderers did
not invoke any non-Islamic sources of anti-Jewish hate, only the
Koran.
As a pre-condition
to real dialogue—not its miserable simulacrum as represented by the February 25,
2008 letter—Jews and their leadership—religious, political, and
intellectual—must demand a mea culpa from their Muslim counterparts for
the sacralized Islamic Jew hatred which contributed to Ilan Halimi’s death, and
countless other similar atrocities across space and time, since the advent of
Islam.
Let us demonstrate as Jews that we are
no longer living with 12th century expectations of Muslims, otherwise
they will oblige us.
As described February 23,
2006 by Nidra Poller, “Ilan’s uncle Rafi Halimi told reporters that the gang

Rabbis Rosen and Rich should
disavow their naïve endorsements because support for this initiative, as framed in the letter, is an egregious
error.
Notwithstanding the inappropriateness of selecting Mr.
Ramadan as the “presenter”—given his penchant for
espousing anti-Jewish conspiracy theories—the statement itself
(available in full here) is a thoroughly disappointing amalgam of raw
denial, and disingenuousness.
Devoid of
genuine mea culpa, as opposed to immoral equivalence, the letter, released in Cambridge, England, is
hermetically sealed off from a contemporary British, and larger Western European
milieu, in which Muslims are responsible for fully half (50%) of the
documented Antisemitic incidents on the European continent, i.e., on a
population percentage basis Muslims in Europe (comprising only
~3.0-4.0% of the total European population.) account for roughly 24.0 to
32.3 times the number of Antisemitic incidents as their non-Muslim European
counterparts.
Also
ignored in the
letter are the expressed, “carefully researched” views on
Jews—words which incite such Muslim Antisemitism, including acts of
violence—espoused by the nearest Muslim equivalent to a Pope—Muhammad Sayyid
Tantawi, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar University, the head of the most prestigious
center of Muslim learning in Sunni Islam, Sunnis representing some 85% of the
world’s Muslims. Tantawi wrote these words in his 700 page treatise documenting and rationalizing
Muslim Jew hatred, Banu Isra’il fi al-Qur’an wa al-Sunna
[Jews in the Qur’an and the Traditions], originally
published in the 1970s, and then re-issued in 1986/87:>
[The] Qur’an describes the Jews with their own
particular degenerate characteristics, i.e. killing the prophets of Allah,
corrupting His words by putting them in the wrong places, consuming the people’s
wealth frivolously, refusal to distance themselves from the evil they do, and
other ugly characteristics caused by their deep-rooted lasciviousness…only a
minority of the Jews keep their word….[A]ll Jews are not the same. The good ones
become Muslims, the bad ones do not. (Qur’an 3:113)
Sheikh
Tantawi was apparently rewarded for this scholarly effort by being named Grand
Imam ofAl-Azhar University in 1996, a position he still holds. And Tantawi has
not mollified such hatemongering beliefs since becoming the Grand Imam of
Al-Azhar as his recent statements on the Jews as “enemies of Allah, descendants of apes and pigs”, the legitimacy of homicide bombing of Jews, or “dialogue” with Jews (just below), make
clear:
“…anyone who avoids meeting with the enemies in order to
counter their dubious claims and stick fingers into their eyes, is a coward. My
stance stems from Allah’s book [the Qur’an], more than one-third of which deals
with the Jews…[I] wrote a dissertation dealing with them [the Jews], all their

Tantawi’s
case illustrates the prevalence and depth of sacralized, “normative” Jew hatred
in the contemporary Muslim world, which engenders both the Antisemitic

the high Middle Ages, rare and completely de-contextualized pacific sounding verses from the
Koran and hadith, and an entirely misleading discussion of the so-called “Medina
Charter” of Muhammad—in reality, a part of Muhammad’s design to neutralize
the Jews of Medina, and establish a hegemonic Islamic order, via jihad—which the
Muslim prophet-jihadist accomplished.

It's difficult to know why it has taken the Jews so long to wake up but they certainly have turned a page in France. Conventional wisdom says Sarkozy can't make it, let's hope they are wrong. It's their only shot. From European Jewish Press;
PARIS (EJP) – The political right is
gaining ground within France’s Jewish community with more than 40 percent of
French Jews supporting a right-wing party, according to the results of an
opinion poll published Monday by the daily newspaper “Le Figaro”.
The survey conducted by the IFOP polling institute shows that the
centre-to-right UDF and UMP governing parties have the support of 33,3 percent
of Jews while this figure is only 29,1 percent for the total French electorate,
which represents a difference of more than 10 percent.
The left-wing
parties – socialists, far left and Communists – get 37,4 percent of the Jewish
voters against 35,6 percent for the whole French electorate, a difference of 1.8
percent. Women are more left-leaning than men.
The left sold the Jews out long ago. I imagine American Jews have been slow to realize their predicament because the Jew hate is blatant in France. But if CAIR, MPAC et al have their way the Jews in America will one day wake up to a vastly different country.
“Many Jews feel gratitude towards interior minister Nicolas Sarkozy, who heads
the right UMP governing party,” says Roger Cukierman, president of CRIF, the
umbrella group of Jewish secular organisations, said in comments on the poll.
Sarkozy takes position
Since he became minister in 2002,
Sarkozy showed a firm attitude against the rise of anti-Semitic acts in the
country and regularly repeated his support for the community.
He
attended the demonstration in Paris after the murder of Ilan Halimi, a
23-year-old Jew who was kidnapped and tortured, and more recently visited the
Jewish Marais quarter where members of a Black extremist group threatened Jews.
“It’s also under the current right-wing government that France’s
external policy towards Israel has changed,” Cukierman noted.
40% of French Jews have turned right? Pretty damned good. In our last U.S. Presidential election, 18% of the American Jewish vote turned right, up from the previous POS election but nothing to roar about. This despite the fact that 67% of Republicans staunchly support Israel vs.only 34% of Democrats that staunchly the Jewish state.
Still just 18%. The American Jew is reminiscent of the German Jew (before the annihilation.) Head in the air, while inhaling the intoxicating Cyclon B of denial.
At present, in my Hebrew class, there is a woman who recently made aliya from Paris with her family. I have spoken with her about anti-Semitism in France and she confirmed that it is very, very serious and getting worse every week. She and her family fled Paris and came to Israel, fearing for their lives - literally. This is first hand, my friends.
To give you an idea of what's going on in France where there are now between 5 and 6 million Muslims and about 600,000 Jews, here is an email that came from another Jew still in France. Please read! Will the world say nothing - again - as it did in Hitler's time?

In Lyon, a car was rammed into a synagogue and set on fire. In Montpellier, the Jewish religious center was firebombed; so were synagogues in Strasbourg and Marseilles; so was a Jewish school inCreteil - all recently.
A Jewish sports club in Toulouse was attacked with Molotov cocktails, and on the statue of Alfred Dreyfus in Paris, the words "Dirty Jew" were painted. In Bondy, 15 men beat up members of a Jewish footbal team with sticks and metal bars. The bus that takes Jewish children to school in Aubervilliers has been attacked three times in the last 14 months.
According to the Police, metropolitan Paris has seen 10 to 12 anti-Jewish incidents PER DAY in the past 30 days. Wake up, world! Walls in Jewish neighbourhoods have been defaced with slogans proclaiming "Jews to the gas chambers" and "Death to the Jews."
A gunman opened fire on a kosher butcher's shop (and, of course, the butcher) in Toulouse, France; a Jewish couple in their 20s were beaten up by five men in Villeurbanne, France. The woman was pregnant; a Jewish school was broken into and vandalized in Sarcelles, France.
