Leaving France

KGS over at Tundra Tabloids (TT) first heard of Dr. Cammarella through a friend who spoke of "a French doctor contemplating a move from France due to the rise in anti-Semitism and violent attacks over the recent years". The TT was of course interested in discovering more about the man's situation, and contacted him to see whether or not he would be willing to be interviewed and have his story published at the Tundra Tabloids. Dr. Cammarella kindly agreed.

During the interview Dr. Ami Cammarella discusses his childhood, growing up in a secular home, as well as his university years studying to be a doctor, the friendships he made with Arab colleagues, as well as the rediscovering to his Jewish roots and the anti-Semitism that went along with it. Dr.Cammarella is planning on leaving France within the next few months.

TT: And what other thoughts might you have concerning France before we wrap this interview up?

Dr. Cammarella: Well the Gaza war is another wake up, what happened in Europe and what happened in France, the reaction was really strong. After that I was sure, absolutely sure that I had to leave France, because for me, France is the most anti-Semitic country in Europe . In particular during the Gaza war there were about 400 anti-Semitic attacks.

Three Synagogues were attacked with Molotov cocktails, about ten Jews were beaten (at least officially)*. I know of one guy, not personally, who was from Paris and he was beaten by ten Arabs in January of this year, in particular his nose was broken and he spent three days in the hospital...and that just because he was a Jew!

He was interviewed by YNET, an Israeli internet website, in which he stated that there is no longer a place for Jews in France and prepared for his immigrating to Israel. I don't know if he has left already or not. All my friends, my Jewish friends didn't want to believe what they saw, they said, "well that's the way it is, Jews being beaten because they are Jews, that's the history of the Jews through the centuries, no? It doesn't happen every day, and it's not Auschwitz so, you have to live with it." It's no problem if you hide your identity, to take off very quickly your kippa, immediately when you go out from the synagogue .

And why I wish to leave France, to answer your question , it has to do with the politics. In France they are very against Israel in the news, and for me, these very anti-Zionist positions are only anti-Semitic positions. Now since the birth of Israel, it's a new way of being anti-Semitic and very politically correct. I you are anti-Israel then you are for the poor Palestinians who are said to be very oppressed by the very bad Israeli people. So that's really what I feel with politics in Europe, and with France in particular. I can't stand anymore all this almost daily propaganda .

My grandmother was killed because of French people who gave her away to the Nazis. And today I can't stand to see Synagogues being attacked with Molotov cocktails and to listen to them say bad things about Israel and the Jews. 400 anti-Semitic attacks in France, like the one guy beaten up by ten Arabs just because he was a Jew, I can't take that any more. It's indefensible. That's my position of why I'm leaving France.

In light of audits, representatives have discovered new religious demands. Clearly these demand amount to separate cafeterias as they refuse to sit next to "people who eat porc" complained Jacques Myard, UMP representative. 

Other Muslim groups have formed what could be called "Religious Unions". They demand Muslim holidays, demand prayer areas and demand that women working in cafeterias be covered up to their arms.

The hospitals are having similar issues to deal with, according to Andre Gerin, (PCF) Representatives have visited a maternity ward in Lyon where staff feel abandoned. On the ground, mayors of suburbs have united in the Ville et Banlieue association who is worried about the increasingly powerful and overreaching religious demands. After pork has been already banned by local schools, the new demands are to have Halal food served. At the same time, separate times for women only in public swimming pools and gymnasiums is also on the increase.

Nicolas Sarkozy stoked the debate over immigration today with a warning to Muslims to practise their religion discreetly or face rejection by moderate Islam in France.

The President voiced sympathy for Swiss voters who opted last week to ban minarets as he tried to reassert himself in a debate over national identity which he launched last month but that has since spiralled out of his control.

Over the past week, Mr Sarkozy had appeared to retreat from his original comments following a backlash over the way that they were being used against immigrants, particularly Muslims.

But in a column for Le Monde, Mr Sarkozy returned to his theme and said that the result of the Swiss referendum showed how important it was for France to define its identity.

Instead of condemning the Swiss out of hand, we should try to understand what they meant to express and what so many people in Europe feel, including people in France," he wrote. "Nothing would be worse than denial."

Mr Sarkozy called for tolerance and underlined France's respect for all faiths, but his message was intended primarily to reassure those who are unhappy about what they see as a threatening Muslim presence in the country.

"Christians, Jews, Muslims, all believers regardless of their faith, must refrain from ostentation and provocation and ... practice their religion in humble discretion," Mr Sarkozy wrote.

Addressing himself to Muslims, he wrote that anything that could appear as a challenge to France's Christian heritage and republican values would "doom to failure" a moderate Islam in France.

In taking this line, Mr Sarkozy implicitly rejected attacks from the Left, the intellectual world and some senior figures in his own Gaullist camp over what they see as a ploy that stigmatises immigrants.

Dominique de Villepin, one of three Gaullist former prime ministers to disapprove, said today that Mr Sarkozy's debate was "rushed and brutal". Jean-Pierre Raffarin, another former premier, said that Mr Sarkozy had launched a "pub-style debate".

Mr Sarkozy's target audience is the broad swathe of conservative and rightwing voters who backed him heavily for the presidency in 2007. He argues that defending national identity is a noble cause, opposed only by the elite. This populist line is expected to benefit his party in national and local elections in March.

Mr Sarkozy enjoys majority public support with his opposition to Muslim women covering their faces in public. Parliament is reviewing ways of countering the practice and may propose an outright ban next month.

Opinion polls show rising unease over the population of 6 million Muslims. A survey last week found that 46 per cent favoured banning minarets, with 40 per cent against. More than 40 per cent opposed building any mosques, compared with only 19 per cent in favour.

France has 64 mosques with minarets but only seven are deemed to be full height, according to Brice Hortefeux, the Interior Minister.

The opposition Socialists and much of the wider Left are boycotting the debate. About 30,000 people have so far signed a petition by leading thinkers and politicians that calls for the exercise to be abandoned.

Mr Sarkozy's unabashed campaign is also causing disquiet among some MPs in his Union for a Popular Movement (UMP). There was widespread disapproval last week when a UMP official, Andre Valentin, a mayor in a northern village, gave offensive endorsement to the debate. "It is time we reacted because we are going to be eaten alive," he said on television. "There are already 10 million of them, 10 million who are getting paid to do nothing."

Anti-immigrant contributors have poured a torrent of racist comment on to an internet site opened for the debate by Eric Besson, Minister for Immigration and National Identity. These include remarks such as "being France means being white, that's all" and "being French means learning to park your car in a garage to avoid having it set on fire".

The identity debate has confirmed Mr Besson, a former senior Socialist who switched horses during the 2007 election campaign, in the role of hate figure for his former camp.

The left-leaning intellectual world was also appalled when Adolf Hitler was brought into the debate by Christian Estrosi, the Industry Minister. "If on the eve of the Second World War, the German people had taken the time to asked themselves upon what German identity was based ... then perhaps we would have been able to avoid the ... shipwreck of European civilisation," he said.

After a month of state-organised town hall meetings around the country, Parliament yesterday began debating identity. The campaign ends in February with recommendations for the Government to act on.

France is to adopt a series of measures to 'reaffirm pride' in the country and combat Islamic fundamentalism.

They include everybody receiving lessons in the nation's Christian history and children singing the national anthem.

In an interview broadcast on national TV, Mr Besson said : 'It's necessary to reaffirm the values of national identity and the pride of being French.

'I think, for example, that it would be good for all young French people to have the chance to sing The Marseillaise at least once a year.'

Making clear that radical Islam was a threat, Mr Besson said: 'In France, the nation and the republic remain the strongest ramparts against ... fundamentalist tendencies. France is diversity, and France is unity.'

Mr Besson defended a decision to send illegal Afghan immigrants - all of them Muslim - back to Kabul on charter flights organised in conjunction with the British government last week, saying there would be many more.

More than 21,000 people have been deported from France this year - with 27,000 the ultimate target, said Mr Besson.

He also reignited the debate about face and body-covering Muslim veils, saying they should definitely be banned.

'For me, there should be no burqas on the street,' said Mr Besson. 'The burqa is against national values - an affront to women's rights and equality.'

French President Nicolas Sarkozy is reportedly growing increasingly frustrated with the Obama administration. A Reuters analysis piece says Sarkozy is shifting his focus from the U.S. to other international allies.

Didier Billion of the Institute of International & Strategic Relations says: "Sarkozy has clearly been thrown off course in his relations with America." Another foreign affairs expert, Bruno Tertrais from the Foundation for Strategic Research, adds: "There is an annoyance about what the French see as naivety in the Obama administration."

One major sticking point has been President Obama's softer stance on Iran, while President Sarkozy prefers a more hawkish approach. Sarkozy said last month: "I support America's outstretched hand. But what has the international community gained from these offers of dialogue? Nothing but more enriched uranium and centrifuges."

I am sure Angela Merkel is hurling as well.

Her voice trembling with emotion, the leader of an advocacy group for Muslim women and girls urged a French parliamentary panel on Wednesday to press for laws that would ban the wearing of Islamic body- and face-covering veils.

The use of the word "conservative" is outrageous. Making that word ugly.

Sihem Habchi appeared as the first witness before a newly created parliamentary group studying Islamic clothing such as burqas and niqabs - part of France's effort to integrate its growing Muslim population while preserving its heritage and secular roots.

The panel, chaired by a Communist Party lawmaker, will hold months of hearings before issuing a report, likely by January. It has no power to draft laws but could recommend legislation restricting or banning women from wearing head-to-toe Islamic robes that mask facial features in public.

The panel was announced in June, a day after President Sarkozy all but prejudged the debate, saying that the robes make "prisoners" out of women and won't ever be welcome in France.

A ban could spur a backlash. A 2004 law in France banned wearing Muslim headscarves at public schools, along with Jewish kippot and large Christian crosses. That law sparked fierce debate both at home and abroad.

Habchi spoke passionately of her family roots in the former French colony of mostly Muslim Algeria, and how France needs to do more to protect women and root out feelings of segregation.

"The survival of many young women depends on" new laws to protect them, she said. "They get around with their ghetto on their backs." She said such full-body veils contribute to "the separation of populations."

Habchi heads Ni Putes, Ni Soumises - Not Prostitutes, Not Submissive - an outspoken group fighting to improve the lot of Muslim women and girls in poor areas. The group's founder Fadela Amara, now the government's urban affairs minister, supports a ban on full-body veils.

Nobel Peace Prize winner (!) Mohamed ElBaradei is at the end of his tenure at the IAEA. Perhaps his replacement ought to be an infidel. It's increasingly clear that Mohamed the nuclear watch puppy ain't keeping the mullahs honest.

Mohamed ElBaradei left out evidence of Iran bomb, France claims The Times

This is Mohamed ElBaradei’s last year addressing the annual conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency. He will not be universally missed. Long chided for being soft on Iran, he goes into this year’s conference amid a diplomatic storm over whether he has deliberately hidden evidence of Iran’s work on a nuclear bomb.

France and Israel have led the charge against Dr ElBaradei, saying that his latest report on Iran’s nuclear programme omitted evidence that the agency had been given about an alleged covert weaponisation plan.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said that the report did not reflect all that the agency knew about Iran’s “efforts to continue to pursue its military programme”.

France went farther, alleging the existence of an unpublished annex that addresses the evidence that Iran may be building an atom bomb.

Bernard Kouchner, the French Foreign Minister, said that France had attended a technical briefing that covered the material, so was surprised to find it missing from the report.

“In the annexes there are specifically elements which enable us to ask about the reality of an atomic bomb,” he said “There are issues of warheads, of transport.”

The published section of the report focused more on the positive, noting that Iran had slowed its production of enriched uranium and had agreed to closer monitoring of its plant.

Western intelligence agencies had given the IAEA material suggesting that Tehran secretly combined uranium processing, airborne high-explosive tests and efforts to revamp a missile cone in a way that would fit a nuclear warhead. The agency described the material as compelling and insisted that Iran clarify the matter rather than reject it as fabricated evidence.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said last night: “If the IAEA has further substantive information, we would hope that it would make such information available.”

NB: ElBaradei is at the end of his tenure at the IAEA. Building on his successes, look for them to put in another “Mohamed,” you know, to keep the Mullahs honest.

Qaeda warns France of revenge for burka stance

Al-Qaeda's North Africa wing threatened on Tuesday to take revenge on France for its opposition to the burka, calling on Muslims to retaliate against the country, the US monitoring service SITE Intelligence reported.

Earlier this month, President Nicolas Sarkozy said the burka, which covers the whole face,  was not welcome in the strictly secular country.

"Yesterday was the hijab (the Islamic headscarf long banned in French schools) and today, it is the niqab (the full veil)," Abu Musab Abdul Wadud, head of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb was quoted as saying.

We will take revenge for the honour of our daughters and sisters against France and against its interests by every means at our disposal."

The group also called on Muslims to retaliate for what it called French "hostility" against the community and its attempt to obstruct Islam's practice on its territory.

"For us, the mujahedeen ... we will not remain silent to such provocations and injustices," Abdul Wadud said without elaborating, according to SITE.

"We call upon all Muslims to confront this hostility with greater hostility, and to counter France's efforts to divide male and female believers from their faith with a greater effort ... (by) adherence to the teachings of their Islamic sharia."

He said Muslims in France, who are estimated at around five million, are "increasingly concerned about the practices of French politicians and leaders and their harassment".

On June 22, Sarkozy said the burka was not a symbol of religious faith but a sign of women's "subservience," adding that the head-to-toe veil was "not welcome" in staunchly secular France.

The French National Assembly set up an inquiry into the rising number of Muslim women who wear the burka.

The latest outrage in the closed (more like hidden) trial of the "Muslim barbarian" ringleader Fofana and his 26 accomplices (it was more like 50) in the savage torture and murder of Ilan Halimi is suspension of the trial, with no indication of when it will begin again. When isn't Youssouf Fofana, in a glass box like Eichmann at Nuremberg, chained like the wild animal that he is?

In a shocking display of proud Islamic Jew hatred (consistent with the most sacred teachings of the Koran), the brutal Halimi murder trial was suspended after the defendant spewed vile invectives and threw his "Arab shoes" across the courtroom at the jury. Throwing shoes at someone is a powerful insult in the Arab world.

Apparently the significance of the Arab shoe was not lost on him, or on Obama, for that matter.

According to a prosecution lawyer, Fofana's shoe throwing occurred during the presentation of evidence by doctors who examined Halimi's body.

It is not clear when the hearing would be resumed. The trial is being conducted behind closed doors, with no press or public allowed, at the request of two of the defendants who were minors at the time of the killing. The trial is closed at the request of barbarians so evil, so savage that it defies the normal mind. And yet the vichy French acquiesced to the Muslim nazis and are hiding their pathetic attempt at justice behind closed doors.

The silence in the media and across the world is a crime against humanity. Imagine, if you will, the unthinkable, the impossible -- if Ilan had been a Muslim and his attackers had been Jews. Stop laughing -- I know is is impossible, but that's not my point. This is damning proof of the Jew hatred that is running wild across the world. Israel shuts a light off in Gaza and the world wants to eliminate her. Imagine if Ilan had been black and his attackers had been white. Stop and think about it.

The incident occurred twice Thursday morning, said witnesses, the trial is conducted behind close doors.

The accused threw his first shoe leading to an suspension of the session. Then he threw the other shoe which resulted in his expulsion. One of the co-accused was disturbed by the accusatory questions and Fofana looked for a diversion to maintain the  "code of silence" all the accused are trying to maintain.

Youssouf Fofana persiste et signe. L'assassin présumé du jeune Ilan Halimi, sauvagement tué en 2006, s'est fait expulser jeudi de son procès, après avoir lancé ses chaussures en direction des parties civiles. Une provocation de plus de la part du cerveau supposé du « gang des barbares », qui, depuis le début du procès, refuse de répondre aux questions qui lui sont posées et affiche tantôt un sourire ironique tantôt un sourire absent.

L'incident s'est produit en deux temps jeudi matin, ont rapporté les témoins, le procès se déroulant à huit clos. L'accusé a d'abord lancé une première chaussure, qui a conduit à une suspension d'audience. Puis il a réitéré son geste avec une seconde chaussure, entraînant son expulsion. Un coaccusé était alors malmené par les questions de l'accusation et Fofana aurait cherché à faire diversion pour maintenir «la loi du silence» qui prévaut dans le box des accusés.

The screams must have been loud because the torture was especially atrocious: the thugs cut bits off the flesh of the young man, they cut his fingers and ears, they burned him with acid, and in the end poured flammable liquid on him and set him on fire.

Horrible tortures. Horrible torturers. One of the torturers would go to work at a TV station everyday and come back and partake in the torture. The girls who lured young men. They knew he had been kidnapped. They knew Yosef (the leader of the Barbarians) was extremely violent. They knew Ilan was still in his hands three weeks later. All they had to do was make an anonymous phone call to the police. No one would have known. They did not do it. No neighbor thought to say to the police that something strange was going on in this building.

Terror Names Linked To Doomed Flight AF 447 SKY NEWS (hat tip Angie)

Two passengers with names linked to Islamic terrorism were on the Air France flight which crashed with the loss of 228 lives, it has emerged.

Debris from Air France flight AF 447 has been recovered from the Atlantic

French secret servicemen established the connection while working through the list of those who boarded the doomed Airbus in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on May 31.

Flight AF 447 crashed in the mid-Atlantic en route to Paris during a violent storm.

While it is certain there were computer malfunctions, terrorism has not been ruled out.

Soon after news of the fatal crash broke, agents working for the DGSE (Direction Générale de la Sécurité Extérieure), the French equivalent of MI6, were dispatched to Brazil.

It was there that they established that two names on the passenger list are also on highly-classified documents listing the names of radical Muslims considered a threat to the French Republic.

A source working for the French security services told Paris weekly L'Express that the link was "highly significant".

Why does Barack Hussein Obama shun Nicolas Sarkozy and why does it matter?

Curiously enough this Franco-American iceberg is escaping attention on both sides of the Atlantic. I gave up asking for reactions from otherwise astute observers in France who shrug their shoulders, raise their eyebrows, and mumble “Ah bon? Je n’ai rien remarqué.” It’s so glaring they don’t even notice it.

And here in the United States, the people who have been telling me--the longtime resident of France--that George Bush poisoned our relations with Europe and Barack Obama will turn them to milk and honey, don’t seem to notice that nothing of the sort is happening.

Why should President Obama be chummy with President Sarkozy? And why doesn’t he want to be? This is not a rhetorical question that will be followed by a torrent of revelations and glib explanations. I really don’t know what is going on here, but I am sure it matters.

Whatever you think of France you have to admit that it is still a power to be reckoned with in Europe and, to a lesser extent, on the international scene. The Franco-German “couple” counts for more than the sum of the parts of the European Union. France maintains significant influence in the Arab-Muslim world, much of which was under its colonial domination until recently…and now the liberated colonies are exerting their dominion over France by way of immigrant populations. France, more than any other continental European nation, seeks to exert its influence wherever conflict focuses world attention. France, self-appointed embodiment of human rights, rushes to the rescue of besieged populations when disaster strikes, waves the banner of the oppressed, and lends support—if only vocal-- to aspiring peoples. This is very strange. Events surrounding the Air France plane that crashed and practically disintegrated raise more questions then they answer. An Air France pilot said it was 'highly likely' the jet was blown out of the sky by a bomb.

Now it has come to light that the domain name for flight 447 was registered in September 2007. Coincidence? Maybe. Iranian Kari Bian, who makes movies about Israelis and "Palestinians," registered the domain flight447.com.

That's peculiar.

And another domain related to the Air France flight — AirFranceLawSuit.com — that is up for sale on e-Bay was registered the day after the crash to Hoda Elkassem in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who is currently in Kuwait. Ghoulish.

Air France Crash Raises Questions About Domain Name Registration Wired (hat tip mOSXquito)

As investigators seek to unravel the fate of Air France flight 447, there’s been speculation online about an unusual domain name registration made some two years prior to this week’s plane crash, flight447.com.

The mystery of the Air France flight that disappeared this week deepened after news agencies on Wednesday confirmed a previous Air France flight from Buenos Aires to Paris was the target of a bomb threat just days before. That plane was inspected and arrived without incident.

Now it has emerged that someone registered a domain for the missing plane’s flight number on September 30, 2007. The domain name, which currently points to a search engine, expires on the same date this year and was registered to Success Incorporated in Malibu, California.

It’s not unusual for individuals to register domain names shortly after news breaks on a big story and then to sell them. Indeed, a second domain AirFrance447.com was registered the day of the crash, hours after the news made headlines, and a third domain AirFranceLawSuit.com is being auctioned on e-Bay this week after being registered the day after the crash.

The timing of the two-year-old flight447.com, however, makes it unusual.

But when contacted, the owner of the latter domain, Kari Bian, said that the connection between his registration and the crash is coincidental. “It’s just an accident (that there’s a connection),” he said. “I have nothing to do with anything. I feel really bad for that flight.”

The cause of the crash is still unknown.

Bian is an Iranian film producer based in the U.S. who recently finished an Israeli-Palestinian love story called David and Fatima about an Israeli soldier’s relationship with a Palestinian Muslim girl. He’s also listed as executive producer for Secrets of Life, a movie starring Tony Curtis, Vivica Fox, Jon Lovitz and Cheech Marin, and a semi-autobiographical tale called The Iron Man, which is unrelated to the Robert Downey, Jr., film and is loosely based on Bian’s life.

Bian also owns a small side business registering domains called Thriftys. Bian says he buys domain names and owns about 500 of them, which include the names of numerous airline flight numbers as well as the names of cars, flowers, businesses and songs. He says he created the flight number domains with a program.

“I just put ‘flight’ in front of 1 through 1,000 and I register them,” he explained.

He says he didn’t buy the flight domains for any particular reason and has no intention of selling flight447.com now.

“I’m very busy with my work and my career,” he says. “I’m not waiting for a flight to crash so I can go sell it. I’m a professional businessman and I make movies and it happens that I own this domain name.”

Another domain related to the Air France flight — AirFranceLawSuit.com — that is up for sale on e-Bay was registered the day after the crash to Hoda Elkassem in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Elkassem, who is in Kuwait temporarily where her husband is teaching art, responded to an e-mail inquiry from Threat Level.

There is still no clue as to what catastrophe befell the Air France 330 airbus that disappeared off the radar with no SOS calls and exploded or crashed into smithereens over the ocean, killing 228 people.

An Airbus spokesman said: "The A330 has an extremely good safety record and this is the first accident on a commercially operated A330."

An Air France spokesman said the airline received a bomb threat for a flight from Buenos Aires to Paris on May 27, but that warning proved to be false.

France's defense minister and the Pentagon have said there were no signs that terrorism was involved, and Jobim said "that possibility hasn't even been considered." (here)

So the airline received a bomb threat but the possibility of terror "has not even been considered" -- but the abortion doc whack job murderer is a deemed a "terrorist" immediately. I'm confused.

Air France announced a "catastrophe", saying the plane could have been hit by lightning. But French ministers yesterday said lightning alone did not explain the crash, which would be the worst air disaster in Air France's 75-year history. "All scenarios have to be envisaged," the French defence minister, Hervé Morin, said yesterday. "We can't rule out a ­terrorist act since terrorism is the main threat to ­western democracies, but at this time we don't have any element whatsoever indicating that such an act could have caused this accident."

The environment minister, Jean-Louis Borloo, today described "a race against time" to find the wreckage and the plane's black box flight recorder, without which the crash remained "incomprehensible". He warned that the black box would only emit signals for 30 days. But the Atlantic search area between the coasts of Brazil and Africa remains vast and depths range from 3,000 to 6,000 metres, with currents so strong that the box might never be found. Borloo said that in 2004, when a jet crashed off Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, even with an exact crash point located, it took 15 days to find the flight recorder at a depth of 1,000 metres.

UPDATE: Amaros translated this this from today's Le Figaro for Atlas Readers. "This is of course speculative as of now but this pilot seems to know the aircraft, the route and speaks of some nasty possibilities".

When a total black out occurs, a back up battery takes up the temporary function as well as a motor usually used on land to generate electricity. For the pilot to be totally disabled to fly the aircraft, all these above sources need to fail, a scenario I would consider difficult to occur.

For the plane to land on water, it needs to be controllable. For the plane to be piloted, you need electricity. If there still is electricity, then a message can also be relayed. Between your plan to land on water and the landing you usually have up to 1/2 hour. So this theory carries little probability. The reality is that we will never be sure what really happened. The plane is at the bottom of the Atlantic, if it blew up during flight, debris would disperse over 10s of kilometers.

Absolutely. We can easily imagine a smaller bomb causing the cabin to depressurize and that the plane falls apart over a short period of time. At the same time, a bigger bomb can blow up the whole plane leaving no time for sending out emergency signals.

She has just arrived in Nashville, where the conference she was scheduled to speak on Jihad in Europe was canceled, apparently after Thomas A. Negri, managing director of Loew’s Vanderbilt Hotel (a dhimmi and apologist for Islam) learned that the group would feature a keynote address by controversial Dutch parliamentarian and filmmaker, Geert Wilders.

We have to thank Tom Negri, the benighted managing Director of the Loew's Vanderbilt Hotel, for ejecting the program from his venue for alleged "health and safety reasons to protect valued employees and guests".

Saturday night in spring 2009, in a quiet corner of the Marais. Sounds of tumult and smashing. A pause. An ominous silence. Then, the first explosion. Gunshots? Gas? It's on the rue des Arquebusiers. A fire engine pulls up, the firefighters jump out, ready for action. They're stymied. They run in circles, shouting to each other like helpless civilians. Cars are burning in the narrow side street and they can't get near the roaring inferno. Seven cars in a row, popping like huge champagne corks. It takes an eternity before a bigger engine arrives. It has a huge hose but it's hours before the last flames are extinguished. 

Torched cars are a familiar sight on the French landscape. Tens of thousands are burnt out every year. But this isn't video footage on the evening news. It's not the banlieue in 2005. It's very close and extremely scary.

By Sunday noon, municipal workers had towed away the ghostly skeletons and swept up the debris, baring deep scars in the asphalt. Three weeks later, the scene is a black gaping wound. The stone kerb is cracked and chipped, as if it were made of clay. Metal awnings are buckled and blistered, the wooden façades are burnt away, revealing melted wires and pipes. A period street lamp is gutted. A thick coat of black soot reaches up to the wrought-iron balconies. 

Apart from one laconic article in the daily le Parisien, the incident was not considered newsworthy in France. The international readership of the atlasshrugs.com newsblog knew more from my on-the-spot coverage than people living nearby. I was tipped off about another big fire at the Résidence Madeleine Béjart, a city-owned retirement home on rue de la Perle, five minutes' walk from Arquebusiers. That fire started in a decorative alcove on the façade and charred the ceiling of the wide portico. In some places, it's completely burned away. 

Who would be torching the Marais? Punk jihadis? Anarchists? Stupid kids? Is this a fluke or the beginning of a new phase? No one in the vicinity seems to care. They dismiss it with a Gallic shrug. "The insurance will pay for the damages." Torching cars could become as commonplace as the graffiti that disfigures beautiful 18th-century mansions. The Marais is Paris's old Jewish quarter, with emphasis on the old. Orthodox families go to synagogue. There's a Jewish day school, some remnants of the declining garment business and the rue des Rosiers with its mix of kosher delicatessens, Judaica shops and encroaching upscale boutiques. But there are more Jews and more anti-Jewish violence in the 19th arrondissement, where Rudy Haddad was beaten into a coma last summer. I'm told the investigation is stalled because they are still trying to prove it was inter-communitarian strife-Jewish gangs fighting Arabs/Muslims/Blacks-instead of gratuitous, violent anti-Semitism. 

On the other hand, we can't be sure the Marais fire was aimed at Jews. I start my inquiry with the chief of the third arrondissement police station, who tells me to phone the press attaché at the Préfecture (police headquarters), who refers me to the Cabinet du Parquet (public prosecutor's office), where I speak to a gracious but bemused spokeswoman. "Burned cars?" she asks. "There are so many..." The investigation is under way but if it turns out to be arson, she admits, it is unlikely the police will find the culprits. And the case will be closed. She is surprised that I think the two fires in the Marais might be related. 

I had a scoop on the Marais fires, but didn't even know about the "supermarket intifada", in which French supermarkets, such as Carrefour, have been invaded and any produce suspected of originating from Israel is destroyed, until I was told about it by my friend and colleague, Tom Gross (www.tomgrossmedia.com). Except for a brief mention on the France 2 TV channel, the media have ignored that story. 

Boycott Israel is a longstanding passion of Olivia Zemmour, a Tunisian Jew whose venomous hatred of Israel knows no bounds. Goons from her organisation, CAPJPO, now united with an outfit called EuroPalestine, beat up Jewish boys from the left-wing Zionist Hashomer Hazaïr youth movement during a 2003 "peace march". 

Look at the EuroPalestine website (www.europalestine.com) and you don't need to understand French to get the flavour of their unabashed anti-Zionist operations. Islamists face the camera and spew out hate-filled talking points: Israel=Occupation, Genocide, Apartheid. A "commando" with a trademark beard and North African accent holds up an Israeli product, declaring: "We won't allow this stuff chez nous. This is our country." France-Info radio just reported a little sugar-coated item on the joyous Muslim converts attending the annual UOIF (French branch of the Muslim Brotherhood) convention at Le Bourget. 

Islamist movements are emboldened because the authorities, the media and secular society have failed to react properly to their show of force in January. Using the Israeli operation in Gaza as a pretext, the French-Arab street swung into action with a vengeance. I watched angry Muslims pouring from all directions into Place de la République on 3 January, hastily donning their keffiehs, marching as to war. While the
media (with the notable exception of an unsigned article in Le Figaro) painted this explosion of organised rage in the soft colours of anti-war protest, Islamist websites proudly displayed their true face: blood-curdling shouts of "Death to Israel, Death to the Jews"; Hamas and Hizbollah flags, slogans; violent attacks on the police; and the destruction of public and private property. Those were not demonstrations, they were acts of conquest by jihad foot soldiers claiming our streets, in our society, for the free expression of hate speech, death threats and genocidal promises. 

As anti-Jewish attacks reached a new high, President Nicolas Sarkozy promised to punish anti-Semitism and Islamophobia with equal severity, reinforcing the myth of reciprocal inter-communitarian violence. When two naïve, Jewish 15-year-olds handing out pro-Israel leaflets in front of Lycée Jeansson-Sailly, in the affluent 16th arrondissement, got into a fight with some Muslim kids and won, Le Monde turned the Jewish kids into extremists from the Jewish Defence League. They were detained by the police and the incident was repeatedly cited to balance out real attacks against Jews. 

Michaël Benamou, 29, was attacked by three Arab-looking men on the busy platform of the Auber suburban railway station. He told YNet, an Israeli news website: "They called me a ‘f***ing Jew' and said they would kill me. They broke my nose and beat me all over." He has decided to emigrate to Israel. Désiré Amsellem, a 70-year-old Jewish family doctor devoted to his patients of all faiths and origins, was shot in the back as he left his office in Valenton, 10 miles south-east of Paris. Investigators have no clue as to the motive or identity of the killer. On 15 January, after a pro-Hamas demonstration in Strasbourg, 50 men travelled to Metz with the intention of breaking into a synagogue during a service. They were held off by the police. On 24 January, the 1,500 square-metre warehouse of a major distributor of kosher foods burned down in Montreuil, a rough eastern Paris suburb. Obviously arson but, with no graffiti, authorities hesitate to classify it as anti-Semitic.

100 DAYS OF BEING A LAUGHINGSTOCK IN PARIS

Paris, France.  It is very cool to be a French intel guy.  A spectacular meal at a Parisian bistro with $90 entrées and a $200 bottle of Bordeaux?  No problem.  I'd known this fellow since he got me out of a jam in Sudan years ago.  His James Bond days are over, but still, riding a desk for the DGSE --  Direction générale de la sécurité extérieure (General Directorate for External Security), France's military intel agency - in Paris has its decided benefits.

One of them is not being infected with Obamamania.  "My agency considers him a joke," he confides.  "Every day there is some fresh lunacy that we cannot believe.  Mr. Bush would often make us angry.  But at this man we just laugh."

"In truth, it also makes us sad," he continued.  "French resentment towards America is strong, so being able to laugh at your country feels good.  But it is such a sad and strange thing to see America - America The Great! - do something so crazy as to elect this ridiculous man."

"There are many people in America who think he isn't a legitimate president as he wasn't born in the US and isn't a natural citizen.  What do you think?" I asked.

He shrugged.  "I wouldn't know.  I've never had reason to make an inquiry."

"There are a lot of people convinced he is a traitor who hates America and is actively determined to destroy it.  Any opinion on that?"

He didn't shrug at this.  After a long slow sip of wine, he mused, "I would not go that far.  Many of his actions, however, are very puzzling because they are so counter-productive regarding America's best interests.  There seems to be a consistent pattern in that direction."

"What does Sarkozy think of him?"

"Nothing but contempt."

After a pause he asked, "And Langley?"

"Well, if you thought the war they waged against Bush was intense, it was nothing compared to how they're going to screw Obama.  He has tried to gut them with the ‘torture memo' release and slashing their budgets.  The morale is depressed, sullen, and enraged.  You know what a left-wing outfit Langley is.  They thought he was their boy and they feel betrayed.  All kinds of damaging stuff on him will be appearing via their media friends."

He nodded.  "And in Tel Aviv City?"

He was referring to the huge underground city complex of Langley's underneath the US Embassy in the Israeli capital.  "That's an interesting question.  You know how vast and deep the relationship is there.  Langley is making every effort to overcome the total and massive distrust their Israeli colleagues have for Obama, whom they know is selling them down the Jordan River.  So far though this effort is in words.  The Israelis are waiting to see what Langley does."

He said nothing.  I smiled.  "You guys wouldn't be Langley's cutout for thwarting BO regarding Israel, would you?  I'd never suspect that..."

He continued to say nothing, gave me only a slight smile in return, and poured me another glass of wine.  "The Bordeaux is good, yes?"  I nodded.

"You know, the French media worships this man the same as yours in the US.  All of this ‘100 days' talk, it is impossibly stupid.  Most anyone in the French elite, the business leaders, Sarko's people, they all know this.  They all think this is some crazy joke of the Americans.  But it is a very, very dangerous joke.  For 100 days your president has been a laughingstock among the tout le monde  No one may be laughing 100 days or 10 months from now."

He leaned forward.  "The world can go - how do you say - sideways with this man very quickly.  No one he has working for him knows what they are doing - possibly excepting Mrs. Clinton - and he certainly does not.  All of us in our little community are worried - us, our friends in Berlin, London, Tel Aviv, and Langley too as you say.  It is not like the  barbarians at the gates.  It is everythere are no gates.  The Somalis, Chavez, Iran, Putin, Beijing, the ‘Norks" as you call them, the list is long and it is growing.  We are not sure what to do."

It took me a moment to respond.  "The best thing that has happened now is Obama making Langley his enemy.  They will be cooperating with you more, be more a part of your worried community.  Working together, you can undermine his efforts more effectively, block and maybe even repair the damage."

It was my turn to lean forward.  "Then again, all together you could be more pro-active.  The man is a mystery.  Nobody can make public his actual birth certificate, or even the particular hospital he was born in, or his college grades, or how he got into Harvard, or how he made editor of the Harvard Law Review and never wrote a single article for it.  It goes on and on.  He really is a Zero.  I think all of you guys should find all of this out and make it known."

I added, "The quicker the better, before the laughing stops and the real dangers begin."

"What is that phrase you use?" he asked.  "Something to consider?"

I laughed.  "Yes, there is much to consider - and much that you can do.  I mean, really, if the Soviet Union could be dismantled, so can this presidency."

It was a beautiful April afternoon in Paris.  He walked me back to my hotel.  It could be that the times we live in may get even more interesting.

Denmark Caves to Islam: 'Postpones' Geert Wilders and 'Freedom of Speech' Conference

Freedom of speech conference delayed again Copenhagen Post

Worries about inviting Dutch politician Geert Wilders to Denmark leads to further delays for troubled freedom of speech conference

The government will not be inviting controversial Dutch politician Geert Wilders to Denmark anytime soon.

Conservative MP Naser Khader, previously of Liberal Alliance, secured funding last year for an international freedom of speech conference, which was due to be held in February.

Late last year it was decided to push the conference back until this June and according to information received by Berlingske Tidende newspaper, the conference has been delayed again because of government’s concern over Geert Wilders.

The integration minister, Birthe Rønn Hornbech, has sent out a memo saying that the free speech and anti-radicalisation conference will not be held before the autumn, ‘in spite of intense work and exploration’ that has gone into preparations.

The Danish People’s Party (DF) had wanted Wilders to attend. The politician has been subjected to death threats and banned from entry into Britain due to his outspoken views on Islam.

DF party leader, Pia Kjærsgaard, said she wants a clear answer to the repeatedly delayed meeting and that it is obvious that the conference is an irritation for the government.

According to the newspaper, the Foreign Ministry has expressed concern that if Wilders turns up to the delayed conference in the autumn it could have a negative affect on the climate summit in December. The ministry is apparently worried that Wilders presence could lead to Muslim countries boycotting the climate conference.

A self-proclaimed Muslim barbarian shouted his contempt for his judges yesterday at the start of his trial for the torture and murder of a young Jewish man.

Youssouf Fofana, 28, who led a loose-knit gang of youths from an immigrant housing estate, swaggered into court and shouted “Allah will conquer” as the court began hearing a case into a killing that horrified France and the world Jewish community in 2006.

Mr Fofana and most of his 26 alleged accomplices have admitted their roles in the kidnapping of Ilan Halimi, 23, an assistant in a Paris telephone shop, who was held for ransom for 24 days in the suburb of Bagneux. Mr Fofana, whose parents came to France from Ivory Coast, denies killing the victim, who was tied up in a cellar and tortured with acid, cigarettes and knives. He died in an ambulance after Mr Fofana dumped him by a railway line and allegedly set him alight.

The love-in between Nicolas Sarkozy and Barack Obama proved short-lived after the French President warned his US counterpart yesterday to keep his nose out of the issue of Turkey’s membership of the European Union.

President Obama used his first EU-US summit, on the eve of his visit to Turkey, to encourage European leaders to embrace the Muslim country and “anchor it in Europe”. However, Mr Sarkozy, a long-standing opponent of full membership for Turkey, rebuffed the US leader in language that seemed to sour the revival of Franco-US relations.

Support for Turkey in joining the EU, a process that it began formally in 2005 and hopes to complete before 2020, has long been an American foreign policy goal.

Mr Obama, who flew to Turkey last night, clearly wanted to leave on a positive note. He told EU leaders: “The United States and Europe must approach Muslims as our friends, neighbours and partners in fighting injustice, intolerance and violence.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish Prime Minister, reiterated his country’s desire to join the EU when he visited Brussels this year.

Olli Rehn, the EU Enlargement Commissioner, called last week on Turkey to renew its focus on reforms to meet Union entry criteria for democracy and workers’ rights. “The pace of negotiations depends on the pace and intensity of the reforms in your country,” he said.

The Turkish press said yesterday that the country had secured concessions for dropping its objections to Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the Danish Prime Minister, becoming the next Nato Secretary-General.

Ankara had argued that Mr Rasmussen was not suitable because he did not offer an apology for cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad published in a Danish newspaper in 2005, which led to violent demonstations across the Muslim world. Turkey expects to secure several key Nato posts, including that of assistant secretary-general.

Mr Rasmussen insisted in the Danish media yesterday that he had not sacrificed his defence of freedom of expression in order to secure Turkey’s support of his nomination.

Fire at the Résidence Madeleine Béjart next to the Picasso Museum in the Marais

 

Further investigation reveals far more extensive damage than I had remarked the first time I passed by. The ceiling of the portico that arches over the parking lot in front of the building is blackened, several large planks were completely destroyed, revealing something that looks like insulation. The period street lamp is burned and melted. But where did the fire start? What was there to burn in the alcove? Apparently it was the décor of rocks and pebbles...which is still intact in the second alcove. It must be made of plastic  or polystyrene. It is reduced to cinders.

The building is a state- run residence for the elderly. My informant, a gentleman of color (yes, I know...but that's what he would have been called in his day) with four bottom teeth in empty gums, walked slowly down the steps (yes, in France a home built for the elderly has steps up to the entrance) leaning on a cane.

He said the fire broke out last week, on Thursday. It was the clochards, three of them, they kept their mattress in the alcove.

But who set the mattress on fire? Was it the clochards? Or the "youths"?

No matter how many times I asked, I still couldn't get a clear answer. Something about bottles under the mattress. The clochards' wine bottles? Or the youths fire bombs? Wine bottles don't set fire to mattresses.

Were the clochards there when the fire started? How about the "youths"?

They don't come around anymore, he said.

Go figure.

If the clochards set fire to their mattress on Thursday and X set fire to a car or several cars on Saturday, is it possible that the two incidents are not related? No. Is it possible that the clochards set fire to their mattress and, two days later, to a car? No.

Conclusion: two damaging fires in the Marais in the same week must be connected.

Readers might be wondering why I don't ask the police.

When I was last in France I stayed with a friend in the M. Back in 2005, when I was last there,  it seemed like Paris was a tiny jewel surrounding by a sewer on all sides. Well, it seems the fetid sewer is lapping at the gates of  what was once a jewel.
The gifted journalist and regular Atlas contributor Nidra Poller gives on the street reportage on the latest outbreak of low grade civil war in the streets of the Marais.

Car burning comes to the Marais! Seven cars burned on the quiet little rue des Arquebusiers in the 3rd arrondissement Saturday night, leaving ghostly carcasses, melted asphalt, buckled metal shutters, burned out offices and art galleries, and a blackened 19th century façade. Arquebusiers is a narrow 2-block L-shape street that cuts from boulevard Beaumarchais (traditional route of the République-Bastille protest marches) to rue St. Claude, another small typical upper Marais street in what used to be the schmatte district. Many showrooms have been turned into frivolous art galleries but the nearby rue de Turenne is still lined with outlets, often graced with mezuzot on the doorposts. The gentrified Marais maintains its old Jewish quarter flavor with numerous synagogues, a Lubavitch school, and rue des Rosiers, the delicatessen-Judaica street. On Shabbat and Jewish holidays, the Marais slips into Little Jerusalem mode, with men in black and dressed-up families coming and going to services.

While religious and even non-religious Jews have been taking a beating in the banlieues for years, the Marais has been a haven of peace. There are plenty of “youths” in the schools, in the streets, but so far they do not act as if they are masters of the turf. However the rue des Arquebusiers has been a bit of a trouble spot because it opens, at the crook in the L, into a passage through an upscale residence with a secret rose garden tucked into the depths of a large courtyard. An oasis of perfumed tranquility for most residents serves as a blind alley for dealing and stealing for others.

Tens of thousands of cars are torched in France every year. At least 1147 were destroyed on New Year’s Eve 2008-‘9. The enraged pro-Hamas mobs that stormed through the city once a week in January, promising death to Israel and the Jews, smashed storefronts and burned cars. Infuriated islanders in the French overseas départements of Guadeloupe and Martinique burned cars in the course of their month-long revolt against the white folks, high prices, and the state (I’ll have that story for you in my next article).

In 2005, when the banlieues went up in flames, the insurrection was cuddled under the term “urban violence” even though the banlieues are, precisely, extra-urban, on the other side of the city line, beyond the pale. Now that the phenomenon has reached the heart of Paris it becomes for the Parisien, the only newspaper that bothered to cover the 3rd arrondissement incident, “a mysterious fire that destroyed seven cars.” Mysterious? Why? Doesn’t it fit into the pattern of the other tens of thousands that are torched yearly?

If you’ve never been anywhere near a car burning, you might have a rather static and paradoxically cold image of the incident. Here is what it looks like up close: That Saturday evening rue St. Claude was like one big open air salon. All the galleries had openings, families strolled from the shops and the parks to the arty shows, chattering and laughing, sipping drinks from plastic cups. Latecomers stretched past the 8 PM dinner hour. By 10 PM all was quiet. The party crowd would be at the Bastille, the families were home tucking children into bed.

Suddenly the night was broken with a loud crashing sound. Not an accident, something deliberate. An angry sound. Then a spurt of voices. And another crushing crashing noise. But apparently no one on rue des Arquebusiers saw any one do anything. Then the cars burst into flames, one after the other. A crowd gathered at the intersection of St. Claude and Arquebusiers. Boom! An explosion. Heads craned at the windows. It sounded like shooting. Like bombs exploding. Flames leaped up from the cars and licked at the wrought iron balconies overlooking the battlefield.

Firefighters in silver helmets arrived quickly from a nearby station. But they couldn’t do anything. They scurried and screamed like frightened victims. Boom! Another explosion. The air thick with black smoke. The fire hose was flask as an empty stocking. The crowd of intrepid onlookers looked on as if it were a film. The firefighters ran around in frantic circles. Boom! It seemed like an eternity before a second, larger truck pulled into rue St. Claude. Booms bursting like desperation. It took forever before a huge hose was unrolled, connected, slowly swelled. It took an hour before the flames were under control. And another hour of tracking down every smoldering cinder.

The burned out cars stood there dumb, forlorn and eviscerated. The ground floor façade was smashed and charred. On the other side of the street, big chunks of plaster fell from the cracked surface of the buildings. Little by little their owners arrived. The weary firemen rolled up the hoses. Inspectors gathered evidence. Policemen and women with clipboards jotted reports. The insurance will cover it all.

By noon on Sunday the carcasses had been removed. The debris was swept up and carried away. It will take longer to erase the traces of violence on the melted twisted pavement, the punched-out period street lamp, the elegant well-kept typical Parisian building with its French windows and wrought iron balconies. Residents can’t forget those thundering explosions. Like war. The frantic firefighters, helpless to stop the ravages as the flames roared from one car to the next.

A young man points to his skinned, gutted business car. A few letters of the logo are left on the fender like scars. But he takes it in his stride: “it’s just material damage. The insurance will cover it.” A white-haired woman shakes her head in dismay.

“What has this world come to?” The custodian of a building at the tail end of the row of stripped down vehicles describes the flames and thick black smoke: “you couldn’t see a thing. Mme. P. was walking her dog. She went by… just before it happened…ten minutes later she could have…”

The police have little to go on and so many burned cars to deal with. The media, except for the above-mentioned Parisien, can’t be bothered to report such insignificant incidents. How many other lovely neighborhoods bear the mysterious scars of ravaged vehicles and hidden portents?

UPDATE: This just in from Poller: March 3/19/9

An alcove on the façade of the Résidence Madeleine Béjart is burned, charred, and cracked. The apartment building stands on the corner of rue de la Perle and rue de Thorigny, next to the Picasso Museum and a ten-minute walk from rue des Arquebusiers. There is no sign of damage on the driveway or parking spaces in front of the building, so it wasn't the backdrop for a torched car.

The French government is strongly advocating the teaching of Arabic language and civilization in French schools. Not surprising, considering the number of Arabs and Muslims in France, and the unctuous deference with which they are treated by officials, beginning notably with Nicolas Sarkozy, who cannot praise enough the splendor of Arabic contributions to the world.

The French National Assembly was the scene of a meeting earlier this month of the first Conference on the Teaching of Arabic Language and Culture, attended by a variety of interested parties. There was much wearisome blather about the need for "dialogue."

In his message to the participants, French President Nicolas Sarkozy called Arabic the "language of the future, of science and of modernity," and expressed the hope that "more French people share in the language that expresses great civilizational and spiritual values."

"We must invest in the Arabic language (because) to teach it symbolizes a moment of exchange, of openness and of tolerance, (and it) brings with it one of the oldest and most prestigious civilizations of the world. It is in France that we have the greatest number of persons of Arabic and Muslim origin. Islam is the second religion of France," Sarkozy reminded his listeners.

He proceeded to enumerate the various "advances in terms of diversity," the increase in Muslim sections of cemeteries, the training of imams and chaplains and the appointments of ministers of diverse backgrounds.

"France is a friend of Arabic countries. We are not seeking a clash between the East and West," he affirmed, emphasizing the strong presence of Arab leaders at the founding summit of the Union for the Mediterranean, last July 13. "The Mediterranean is where our common hopes were founded. Our common sea is where the principal challenges come together: durable development, security, education and peace," added the French president.

PARIS — France’s interior ministry says masked thieves who attacked a young man east of Paris to steal his car repeatedly stabbed him after noticing he was wearing a Jewish symbol.

Interior Minister Michele Alliot-Marie has condemned the “revolting attack” in the suburban town of Fontenay-sous-Bois and says authorities are working to find the perpetrators.

The ministry said in a statement Friday that the attackers shouted anti-Semitic threats at the man as they stabbed him four times with a knife in the Thursday evening attack. It did not provide details on the man’s condition.

PARIS (AFP-EJP)---Unknown people hurled petrol bombs at a synagogue in a Paris suburb Thursday in the latest outbreak of anti-Semitic violence in France since the start of Israel's Gaza offensive, firefighters and police said.

The main entrance door to the synagogue at Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, southeast of Paris, was damaged by fire and a police source said it remained unclear whether one or several petrol bombs were thrown.

France<  has recorded around 60 anti-Semitic incidents since Israel launched its Gaza offensive last month, drawing appeals for calm from politicians and religious leaders.

Last Saturday they were 20,000 (police figures) or 25,000 (organizer’s claim). Today they were 30,000 (police estimate) or 100,000 (organizer’s assertion). With a dozen hefty police cars and several rows of riot policemen in the lead, he demonstration left Place de la République at 3 PM, went down boulevard Beaumarchais to the Bastille and from there to Place de la Nation. Some “minor” incidents have been reported in the press so far, attributed to “smashers” who didn’t really belong to the demonstration. For some mysterious reason they went straight to Place de la Nation, where they caused the usual trouble, until they were finally joined by the real demonstration, to which they were not really attached. This unlikely story will not convince anyone who actually saw the demonstration, with its smashers ready to smash.  Their faces covered to show the heights of their courage, they ran in packs, often in the opposite direction to the rank and file.

The march was mean, ugly, raucous, defiant, hysterical, frightening. Hundreds of Palestinian flags, a few Hamas flags, and a huge banner proclaiming support for Hamas, carried by the Indigènes de la République. Watch their video on this site http://www.indigenes-republique.fr/ Pro-Hamas, pro-Hizbullah, unashamedly extremist, they claim to resist until all of Palestine (=all of Israel) is liberated. Chanting Palestine vivra, Hamas vaincra (Palestine will live, Hamas will win) the indigenes (the natives) vilify the French president, Arab leaders, Bush of course and, if I heard right, Obama as well. The Indigènes are the hardcore of the demonstration. They are the ultimate in humanitarian protest, n’est-ce pas?  I don’t have to tell you, just watch the video, and you will understand that these people will do whatever their leaders tell them to do. There is no limit.

The rest of the demonstration stretched out in various degrees of jihadism. The banners were slapdash, the “bloodied” sheets were sloppy, the blood libel baby was a dummy. Occasional posters thanked Hugo Chavez (for kicking out the Israeli ambassador), hundreds bore portraits of the founding warlord Izzedine al Qassam. The usual slogans accused Israel of cold-blooded murder, proclaimed “We are all Palestinians of Gaza,” demanded that the media tell the “truth.” Meaning the whole truth, the Hamas truth, and no other truth.  The sound trucks looked like IEDs. The keffieh was de rigueur. Some wore it around the shoulders, some wrapped it around the head…all that was missing was the RPG.

Extreme left anti-capitalist party leaders, Marie-Georges Buffet and Olivier Besancenot, were present and accounted for. There was mention of someone from the Human Rights League. Mouloud Aounit, president of the MRAP, an anti-racist association that known for its dallying with Islamists, announced that the demonstration was a warning to France. They must intervene for an immediate ceasefire and/ or send forces to protect the Palestinians from the Israelis. The demonstration, he said, is not communitarian (ethnic) or religious, it is in the name of justice.

The infidel minority was a bit stronger this time than a week ago. As I presumed then, the UOIF had a lot to do with the turnout. A colleague, Clément Weill-Raynal, confirms that the French branch of the Muslim Brotherhood told imams to talk up the Gaza crisis at Friday prayers, and get the people out into the streets. A week of phony humanitarian crisis and atrocity reports in French media has probably mobilized additional support for the Gazaouis and their Hamas government.

This week France 2 admitted, barely, that a 12-second sequence allegedly showing death and destruction caused by an Israeli airstrike on January 1st was in fact footage shot in 2005. They did not bother to explain that the footage in question was used at that time to falsely accuse Israeli forces of committing an atrocity when in fact the casualties were caused by a truck laden with explosives that went off accidentally in the midst of a crowd in Jabalya. The newscaster mumbled the half-hearted apology without bothering to rerun at least a few seconds of the fake footage so that viewers would know which sequence was being retracted and why. And, more important of all, she did not mention that most of the videos the station is showing these days from Palestinian sources are also faked.

French media have slipped headlong into blood libel mode. Just as they did in September 2000 when the pre-planned jihad attack against Israel was disguised as a popular uprising that turned radical because of a disproportionate Israeli reaction to perfectly normal protests. Today, French media are wallowing in blood, steaming hot libelous blood. If anyone in the French media’s Jerusalem studios is checking the videos that pour in, it must be a Hamas operative. Those courageous Hamas combatants are hiding underground and, with the help of Western media, launching lethal narratives at Israel. Talal Abou Rahma of Mohamed al Dura fame gets a credit now and then, but he has too much competition this time around. Not likely to reap rewards for any scoops!

I suppose the same stories are going around everywhere. The Israelis shot at a UN (they don’t like to say UNWRA) contractor trying to bring in humanitarian aid, forcing the UN to suspend distribution; the Israelis gathered over a hundred innocent civilians in a building… and then bombed it;  etc. , etc., etc. Enough atrocities to go around the world…and strangle it. You can see some of them on the front page of the Communist newspaper, L’Humanité, displayed by demonstrators today.

And of course if we object to staged, faked, doctored, and photoshopped images it means we don’t care about the children who really did get killed or wounded. Tell it to the humanitarians who demonstrated today.

Someone from the Lyon branch of a Muslim association warned that France better heed the message delivered today and take a strong position (against Israel of course). If not, the banlieue is going to explode. That’s right, it’s going to explode. There are elements in the banlieue, he said, that can’t be controlled. No one—not the associations, the political parties, the imams—can control them. Israel can no longer be given special dispensation from respect for international law.

If Nicolas Sarkozy hoped to calm the banlieue by his strong condemnations of Israel’s disproportionate response to the Hamas rocket attacks, which he also condemned, it wasn’t worth the loss of dignity. Today’s demonstrators and the masses they speak for won’t be satisfied with half-measures.

Vanquishing Victory: Sarkozy's Surrender Ceasefire

Once again, in what can only be described as the crushing defeatism of an entire civilization, the infidel, yet again, promises to squander victory and "negotiate" a hudna with Islamic jihad on the backs, brawn and blood of the free and the brave.

And now Mr. Sarkozy has turned his diplomatic skills to Gaza. Unlike Mr. Chirac, who was viscerally anti-Zionist, Mr. Sarkozy's sympathies for Israel don't appear feigned. As a sincere friend of the Jewish state, Nicolas Sarkozy believes he can speak frankly, criticize freely and act wisely. (He takes the same position vis-à-vis the U.S. and the war in Iraq.) Determined to forge the same forthright relations with the Arab world, he has been trying, in vain, to include Israel in a new, improved Mediterranean Union. But what does he have in mind for this stage of the conflict? There have been hints of a plan to persuade Syria, Egypt and Lebanon to persuade Hamas to promise to eventually stop shooting rockets into Israel, in exchange, one might guess, for maximal concessions from Israel.

How can an intelligent man like Nicolas Sarkozy carry his penchant for negotiation to the absurdity of protecting Hamas, which figures on the EU list of terrorist organizations? If Israel is not allowed to defend itself against terrorists who have fired some 6,500 rockets at Israeli civilians since 2005, it follows that anyone can do anything to Israel without fear of retribution. Is this the assumption behind the notion of "disproportionate force"?

Mr. Sarkozy's condemnation of Hamas for "irresponsible . . . inexcusable" action, repeated at every step of the peace junket, is meaningless when combined with his demand that Israel silence its guns. Syrian President Bashir al Assad, reintegrated into the international community by the grace of Mr. Sarkozy, lent a deaf ear to his requests for a calming influence on Hamas. The Syrian dictator only condemned Israel's "war crimes."

Israeli President Shimon Peres urged his French counterpart to refrain from bringing a cease-fire resolution before the U.N. Security Council -- but to no avail. Bernard Kouchner went straight to New York to convince the Americans to facilitate said resolution. This too is expected to fail. Stumped by an American administration that has not said its last word, rebuffed by an Israeli government determined to handle the situation on its own terms and timetable, rejected by an ingrate Syrian dictator, the French president has little to show for his end run around the EU delegation. Unless his last minute decision to fly back to Egypt last night indicates a re-alignment?

As long as Washington stands with its Israeli ally, the French president's influence will be limited. But the days of moral clarity in the White House might soon be over. George W. Bush -- who declared: "Another one-way cease-fire that leads to rocket attacks on Israel is not acceptable" -- is on his way out. The world is waiting for Barack Obama to set things right.

What lurks behind the president-elect's cautious silence on this major conflict? Nicolas Sarkozy's troubling peacemaking is eerily similar to Mr. Obama's winning campaign arguments. Declaring a firm commitment to Israel's security, the candidate promised to improve America's relations with its European allies and the Arab-Muslim world, and resolve conflicts by dialogue and astute diplomacy.

PARIS: France’s public broadcaster was forced to apologise to viewers yesterday after it mistakenly used amateur footage shot in 2005 to illustrate a report on the current Gaza conflict.
France 2 television on Monday broadcast part of an amateur video presented in a voiceover commentary as showing the fallout from an Israeli air strike on a civilian area in Gaza on January 1.
Dating from September 2005, the video, which has been widely circulated on the Internet, actually shows civilians wounded in the accidental explosion of a pick-up truck loaded with Hamas rockets at a rally in Jabaliya refugee camp.
Alerted by the French website LePost.fr, France 2 admitted its mistake yesterday and made a formal apology to viewers in its midday news broadcast.
“It is an error on our behalf. There was an internal malfunction in the checking of information,” a France 2 executive told AFP.
France 2’s head of news reporting, Etienne Leenhardt, told LePost.fr that ....  The people who put it together worked too fast”.

Paris watch shop Louis Pion looted after Gaza protest Chicago Sun Times

PARIS - Looters ransacked a Paris watchmakers and grabbed more than a quarter of a million dollars (200,000 euros) worth of stock in the wake of a protest against Israel’s Gaza offensive, the shop said Monday.

A manager of the Louis Pion boutique in central Paris’ Opera district said "40 vandals came in, in three successive waves at three-minute intervals," on Saturday. Police confirmed they had opened an inquiry.

More than 20,000 demonstrators marched in Paris on Saturday to protest Israel’s assault on Palestinian Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip and, while most dispersed peacefully, between 200 and 300 went on the rampage.

Following the protest, mobs that peeled off from the main march overturned around a dozen cars, burning several of them, and smashed the windows of several shops on Paris’s iconic shopping street, the Boulevard Haussmann.

Twelve people remained in custody Monday in connection with the violence, judicial officials said.

On Monday, some 500 people marched in the southern French city of Marseille behind a "Palestinian" flag and giant banners reading "Israel terrorists, child killers" and "Boycott Israeli products". "We are all "Palestinians," chanted the demonstrators, who included far-left activists.

For more than a week Israeli forces have been bombarding Hamas targets inside the Gaza Strip ....  to halt rocket attacks on civilian targets in southern Israel.

Arrest Man for Paris Attack 25 years Ago

Twenty-five years after a terror attack at a Paris synagogue, a Canadian professor was arrested today on charges that he was involved in the Oct. 3, 1980 bombing that killed four people and wounded at least 20 others, Canadian authorities told ABC News.

The professor, Hassan Diab, 54, was arrested with the assistance of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on a provisional arrest warrant and a request for extradition granted to French authorities by a Canadian court, authorities said.

That all changed a year ago when reports in French and Canadian newspapers said French authorities suspected Diab was the leader of the group that launched the commando-style attack on the rue Copernic synagogue.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-Special Operations group was blamed for the strike, according to authorities.

Diab, who holds dual Canadian and Lebanese citizenship, is a part-time instructor at two prominent Canadian colleges, the University of Ottawa and Carleton University.

While French authorities called the arrest a final chapter in a long manhunt, Canadian authorities braced for possible public backlash over their willingness to assist in the arrest.

The warrant and request for extradition was granted at the request of the Criminal Division of the French authorities under the direction of the Minister of Interior. The formal mechanism in which the Mounties assisted in the extradition of a person with Canadian citizenship is a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty with France.

Sarkozy has made his criticisms only in closed forums in France. But according to a senior Israeli government source, the reports reaching Israel indicate that Sarkozy views the Democratic candidate's stance on Iran as "utterly immature" and comprised of "formulations empty of all content."

Obama visited Paris in July, and the Iranian issue was at the heart of his meeting with Sarkozy. At a joint press conference afterward, Obama urged Iran to accept the West's proposal on its nuclear program, saying that Iran was creating a serious situation that endangered both Israel and the West.

According to the reports reaching Israel, Sarkozy told Obama at that meeting that if the new American president elected in November changed his country's policy toward Iran, that would be "very problematic."

“The possibility of terrorists obtaining nuclear or other radioactive material remains a grave threat,” ElBaradei said in an address to the U.N. General Assembly.  “Equally troubling is the fact that much of this material is not subsequently recovered.”

At Two Minutes to Midnight, Sheer Madness

When the situation became hopeless in 1945 Germany, Hitler and his monsters retreated to his fuhrerbunker, it said that in their last days any semblance of decency and morality was recklessly abandoned. Europe's political elites remind me of these desperate, bankrupt zombies,  naked and screwing everybody. Strange metaphor I know but it came to mind when reading an email I received from Tomas Kierstein describing the disastrous disintegration of the basic fabric of Danish society (and many European countries).  Tomas Kierstein is vice-chairman of The Danish Association (in Danish: Den Danske Forening  - introduction in English) He wrote me after viewing my video interviews with Lars Hedegaard parts I(here) and II (here).

His account is frightening but less so than Hedegaard's mystification with America's inexplicable and almost deliberate denial,  willful ignorance of  the creeping sharia and stealth jihad descending  over our great nation. At least, Hedegaard insisted, "we know what is happening in our country".[paraphrasing]

Just this week in France Nicolas Sarkozy sent mounted police to patrol worst Paris schools a bottle of acid being thrown at teachers last week. Muslim youth gang warfare is on the rise as battles between the "immigrants"  take place over anything, especially drug deals and territorial disputes:

Earlier this month a man was shot dead in the area, with another seriously wounded. On September 15th two youths were stabbed. The most high-profile attack came in June when a Jewish teenager was left in a coma after being beaten with metal bars by anti-Semitic youth.

Further, the Dutch City of Gouda is being terrorized by Muslim Jihadis, Police And Government Officials Cowed Into Dhimmitude (Pipeline news - WILLIAM MAYER and BEILA RABINOWITZ)

Dutch police are refusing to take action to quell the ongoing and increasing campaign of violence and intimidation being carried out by gangs of Moroccan Muslims in the city of Gouda. Rather than acting to halt the attacks against innocent citizens the police are ignoring the mounting terror, suggesting that nothing is out of order. "A police officer was knifed this weekend in Gouda. As well, journalists continue to be attacked. But the municipality continues to claim that all is quiet. (hat tip yid with lid)

Here is an excerpt from Kierstein's Report from Denmark:

Lars was telling you about the daily shootings and riot-like conditions in Copenhagen as well as Aarhus. I live close to the latter and, as a result of working as a doorman there for more than a decade (1989-2000), I still have a number of contacts at street level. That makes me well informed as to the activities, strengths and developments of the various groups participating in what could easily be described as the prelude to low intensity civil war.

I must say that I wholeheartedly agree with Lars’ view of the situation. The authorities are caught between a rock and a hard place; between their own actions (or lack of action) and their ideological rhetoric during the past three decades, and the reality which is now evident.

Let me fill you in on a bit of history:
The Danish Association (DDF) was established as early as 1987, thus being the first official group protesting against mass immigration of Muslims. During the early years we where subject to a massive campaign of defamation, in which the authorities/politicians took part:

1) Our meetings where attacked by activists from the extreme left. I remember a particular meeting in Aarhus in 1993, where the predominantly elderly members where showered with empty beer bottles and spat on by protesters, who had gathered at the entrance of the Velodrome, where the meeting was taking place.

The police was only present in small numbers, and the officers where reluctant to take any firm action against those throwing missiles at us. One of them apologised, and hinted that their leaders, one of which was a known Social Democrat, had given the protection of our constitutional rights the lowest possible priority.

2) The Association was routinely mentioned in such a manner as to imply that we where Fascist or indeed Nazis. That occurred notwithstanding the fact that ex-members of the Danish Resistance during the Nazi occupation were numerous among the founding members of DDF.

Among them was an old lady (not a Jew herself) whom had actually lived underground in Berlin 1943-44, acting on behalf of the Chief Rabbi of Denmark, whom she knew. She provided food for Danish Jews in hiding that had been caught by the outbreak of war while visiting German relatives. Our then chairman Dr. Sune Dalgaard had been a prisoner of the Gestapo.

The media where willing participants in these campaigns against us, which forced us to engage in more than 20 libel cases, all of which lead to us being vindicated. The strategy was one of legal attrition in the hope that we would collapse and finally shut up. Our legal consultant and also former Chairman, Professor of Law Ole Hasselbalch did not collapse, but pulled us through. In the process, he was literally on the brink of working himself to death.

While this was going on, the authorities allowed more than 200,000 Muslims to enter a country with a native population of around 5 million. They ignored all warnings, and met any and all factual and statistic arguments with sheer ideological rhetoric and with the defamation strategy already mentioned. This was combined with a nauseatingly self-righteous use of the platitude of "humanism" as a magical formula to separate the “good” from the “evil”.

Last year, when we where celebrating our 20th anniversary, we summed up everything we had predicted and could demonstrate that every single prediction has come true, if not been surpassed by reality.

That is why our politicians, our mainstream media and the influential professional humanists (some earning more than US $ 200,000 a year as do-gooders) are now in trouble. In order to react sensibly to what is happening, they would be forced to admit that they had not only been wrong, but had stubbornly persisted in their policy of open borders, while deliberately and arrogantly dismissing the massive and desperate warnings from various people, whom they have all treated worse than the dirt underneath their shoes.

The future looks dire. Please do everything to warn against a similar development in the US, and please help Lars and other Europeans in their efforts. 

When (no longer if) the crap really hits the fan here, you will not have enough marines to patrol 1% of the conflict areas in Europe. Think about Iraq times 30 and populated by a far more well educated population, driven by desperation. 

On the other hand, if Europe becomes a failed Continent, you don’t have to consider whether or not to intervene. At that point you will simply not have the money to support your military efforts anymore, as both the Chinese and your domestic economies, which are heavily tied to each other and the European market, will probably collapse – as more than half a billion of what used to be among the wealthiest consumers in the World will leave the World economy and enter the abyss of perpetual hostilities.

The last time breaking news looked like a movie was 9/11. That should be a tipoff. The mega-apocalypse WTC film was a real jihad attack on U.S. soil and Russian tanks rumbling into Georgia is the intrusion of naked reality in a presidential campaign that pits a lithe young Democrat floating on a cloud of mythology against a grizzly veteran whose wings were clipped in a real war.

The deceivingly small-scale Russo-Georgian conflict, supposedly resolved by exquisite European diplomacy, reminds us that a sudden outburst of military brutality can threaten the integrity of a sovereign nation in the space of a few short days.  It will come as no surprise to learn that near unanimous public opinion in France blames the uppity Georgian president Sakaashvili for foolishly provoking a big, strong, heavily armed bully who has no scruples about striking back 100 to 1. French media—customarily hostile to the government-- looked on with benign neutrality as Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner went into peacemaking action, followed by President Sarkozy’s one-day negotiation of a theoretical cease fire agreement. French officials and commentators studiously refrained from casting blame on Russia and, paradoxically, dismissed President Bush as a lame duck sitting on the sidelines.

Newscasts in the opening days of the conflict were deliberately confusing. Tanks and soldiers were not identified, burning buildings were not located, early Russian claims of 2,000 casualties in Southern Ossetia were indiscriminately relayed, separatist claims of the two disputed regions were taken at face value. However, as the violence intensifies and Russian forces display utter disregard for the terms of the cease fire, reports from French journalists on the ground, visibly shocked by what they are seeing, have become more precise. Though the French president intervened in his role as acting president of the EU, the East-West fissure immediately widened, with former Soviet satellites insisting on unambiguous recognition of Georgia’s territorial integrity.

The question is what can Europeans—united or divided—do about it? Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says the world can forget about Georgia’s territorial integrity. The French, absorbed by August vacations and inflated hopes for Olympic medals, would prefer to forget about Georgia altogether.  Scenes of distressed refugees lugging mattresses were upstaged by the tears of former Olympic swimming champion Laure Manadou--a has-been at the age of 21--and the joys of gold medalists Steeve Guenot and Alain Bernard.

Prestigious print media, busy raking “Micha” over the coals for his ill-fated, impulsive adventure, have shown no interest in geopolitical analysis of the conflict. There is nothing comparable to Melik Kaylan’s incisive exposé of Georgia ‘s strategic importance as a vital node on the East-West North-South axis ( “Welcome Back to the Great Game”  Wall Street Journal )

The outbreak of old-fashioned war, just weeks after Barack Hussein Obama made a whirlwind foreign tour to show he knows his way around, clarifies the hope he inspires in European voters, who would give him a dictator’s +80% score. They are dying to replace the detested Bush with this kinder, more humane, articulate emblem of diversity who will bring America back into the club of urbane civilized nations epitomized by Europe. When know-it-all Europeans are finally called upon to take leadership in dealing with troubles in their own backyard, all they have to offer is one-size-fits-all negotiations:  nobody is to blame, both armies should return to their previous positions, international peacekeepers will move in, and hopefully the whole thing will slip back into the shadows.

This is the kinder more humane approach we are invited to adopt. It is based on an appealing bookish worldview that arranges messy reality into a static three-dimensional text in which the outcome of every action is totally obvious because it can be read on the following page. In the imaginary world of peace campers, hindsight is foresight. No threat is real unless it has already materialized—Saddam Hussein’s Iraq in 2003, Ahmadinejad’s Iran today—and once it does materialize it becomes the fault of George W. Bush and the Zionists.  George W. Bush was supposed to know in advance about 9/11 but no one told us last month to beware of Russian tanks on the make.

Waving Tibetan flags is a lot easier than getting involved in a mess in the Caucasus. While Georgian civilians cry their hearts out the Dalai Lama tours French pagodas dispensing Buddhist teachings and reminding the world of human rights violations in Tibet. His visit is exploited by lightweights as a water pistol to spit in China’s eye and a sash to beat the French president. Sarkozy has been treated as an unscrupulous coward because he didn’t boycott the opening ceremony of the evil Chinese Olympics and now, to avoid offending the unforgiveable Chinese, he is not meeting with the saintly monk. Would anyone dream of doing a hatchet job on the old bonze? In Le Monde for example? Would a snooty journalist ask why the old spiritual pinup is pulling at the sleeve of China’s kimono right smack in the middle of the Beijing Olympics? What could he expect but more repression? You don’t anger the Chinese dragon unless you’ve got a magic sword in your belt!   

 

Above and beyond the choice of a president, American voters will be choosing between the illusion of international harmony –if only we all talk and listen to each other-- and the reality of hostile powers that must be met with military force. Europe, especially France, has been a standing reproach to the American use of military might. And the Democratic Party has used this European scolding as leverage. Today we have a graphic illustration of the world as it is and the results that can be expected from dreaming it out of reality.

The flames of French Obamania leaped skyward last week when the once and future president, glowing from his mass rally in Berlin, stopped in Paris on his way to London. Pushing past the statistics—a recent poll showed over 80% of the French would vote for him if only they could—what does this wishful thinking reveal about the expectations aroused by the charismatic candidate? While Obama worshippers the world over clamor for a right to vote in the November elections, their enthusiasm should reciprocally help Americans understand what is at stake. Two interlocking redemptive fallacies, focused on Obama’s enhanced racial value and the international dividends this will incur, are clarified in the light of European incandescence.

Transposed to France, where 99.99% of the media are rooting for the “first black American president,” the Obama look-alike would not be a slim trim sexy Antillean intellectual. He would be a Muslim, a real Muslim, not a Christian convert. Modern, of course, with no ostentatious religious symbols that could disturb resolutely secular French voters, but Muslim in heart and soul, arisen from the beleaguered immigrant class and placed on high to prove that France, too, has atoned for its sins of racism and colonialism. Only a Muslim could fulfill this role. No other minorities—Chinese, Jewish, Brazilian, etc. —need apply.

You wouldn’t know it but France already has a dashing young diversity president. Nicolas Sarkozy’s father is Hungarian, his maternal grandfather was a Jewish immigrant from Salonika (who converted to Catholicism in 1917 to marry his French sweetheart), and his son Jean is engaged to a Jewish girl. But Sarkozy gets no credit for his origins, and no applause for including three Muslim women— Fadela Amara, Rachida Dati, and Rama Yade--in his government. The French president has been ground to mincemeat by the media though his government is rapidly implementing the major reforms promised during the campaign. He was trashed for a three-day post-election jaunt on a rich man’s yacht, bashed for vacationing in Kennebunkport and eating barbecued hot dogs chez the arch-criminal Bush, and run through the wringer for having too much personal life. Mocked as an over-excited omni-president who leaps from photo-ops to grandstanding interventions, Sarkozy is dismissed as a shallow show off one-man government, an elected monarch, a versatile back slapper… Along comes Barack Obama and the adjectives are shined up and pinned on his chest like medals. Oh la la le rock star! Cameras caress his private jet. His toothy smile is an expression of political brilliance, his glad hand is evidence of extraordinary diplomatic skill, his outstretched arm at Berlin’s Victory Tower promises miracles. The screeches of his international groupies were relayed with exceptional indulgence and his deliberate snubbing of Socialist politicians (presumably to avoid guilt by association) did not raise an eyebrow.

The American Wonder’s brief Paris stopover offered a rare moment of respite for the French president. Press, fans, and a huge chunk of the political class from right to left, basking in the promise of New Improved Franco-American relations that will be ushered in when Obama wins in November, looked on tenderly as Sarkozy bantered with his “copain” Barack.

As could be expected, Obama fan clubs and paraphernalia flourish in Muslim immigrant communities. The nominally conservative Figaro daily ran an enthusiastic article on the hopes ignited by the Democratic candidate. Karim Zéribi, an elected official in Marseille’s Socialist government and self-described bobo, is lost in admiration for Obama who has “transcended” his origins. “He’s the best! Calm and powerful,” exclaims Zéribi, who chafes at being seen as a member of a “pseudo-minority.” On the right, Kamel Hamza, a UMP (Sarkozy’s party) official in the Seine St. Denis municipality shares Zérbi’s enthusiasm: “Un black [trendy French for noir] has a good chance to become president of the United States! A guy like us…president of one of the world’s most powerful nations!”

Dig that! Suddenly American power, in the right hands, would not be evil. American society, systematically portrayed as racist, communitarian, and imperialist, could become a beacon to the world…if only the right race wins. And Western European nations, faced with overwhelming problems of immigration, Islamization, and demographic decline, should redeem themselves by doing like the Yankees.

While the mere suggestion that Islam could be in any way shape or form a factor in the personality of Barack Hussein Obama is scorned as dirty fighting in America, hopes for a Muslim president are openly promoted in France. And democratic values are brushed aside with a flick of the wrist. In the place of elected officials committed to the general welfare, aggrieved minorities are unashamedly seeking “guys like us” who will defend their interests. Walt and Mearsheimer‘s pseudo-academic exposé of the “Jewish lobby” has no black power equivalent when Obama ignites ethnic-racial hopes.

We know the French would never say the brain bashing attack on 17 year old  Rudy Haddad was "anti-semetic" unless it was irrefutable. Look at how they denied that the torture and murder of Ilan Halimi was Islamic Jew hatred until the facts emerged and Chirac had to backpedal and trip over himself making excuses.

Paris: Five Anti-Semitic Thugs Released After Beating Jewish Teen Into Coma YWN

Five youths detained after a Jewish teenager was beaten into a coma by a gang in Paris have been released without charge, AFP reported Wednesday quoting judicial officials.

The minors, aged 14 to 17, were held for questioning as witnesses following the attack this past Shabbos in the multi-ethnic 19th district of the capital - reported HERE on YWN.
 
The Paris prosecutor Jean-Claude Marin said Tuesday the 17-year-old victim, Rudy Haddad, was beaten by a gang after street brawls between Jewish teenagers and youths of north African and sub-Saharan descent.
 
The boy was so badly beaten by a gang wielding metal bars that he went into a coma from which he only emerged on Monday.

According an informed source, he is slowly recovering but remains “very traumatized” and is encountering memory problems.

A probe for “murder attempt aggravated by its anti-Semitic character” has been launched against the perpetrators, a group of six or seven youths of black African origin, who remain at large.

The prosecutor has confirmed the anti-Semitic character of the aggression and said anti-Semitic insults – like “dirty Jew” - were shouted during the aggression.

Sources quoted in the press reported that several brawls broke out in the area Saturday afternoon between Jewish and North Africans and black youth groups and that Haddad was attacked later on the day when he was walking alone in Rue Petit, near a Lubavitch Shul.

French Jew seriously hurt in Paris attack J Post

According to Raphael Haddad, President of the Union des Etudiants Juifs de France (National Union of Jewish Students), "there is no doubt that the nature of this attack was anti-Semitic". The group said that the 17 year old was wearing a kippa, and walking through a neighborhood where many Jewish families live, when he was beaten Saturday night in eastern Paris.

Police said they detained five people for questioning, but were still investigating the reasons for the assault.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy, leaving for a visit to Israel later Sunday, as well as the Minister of Interior, Michèle Alliot-Marie, expressed their indignation as well their support towards the family of the victim, who is currently in a coma.

Sarkozy issued a statement "renewing total determination to fighting all forms of racism and anti-Semitism."

An umbrella organization of French Jewish groups said about 15 people appeared to have ganged up on the boy. It was not immediately clear if any weapons were used.

The teenager's father told RTL radio that his son was in a coma. The Paris hospital network said the teenager was in intensive care at the Cochin Hospital in Paris. The family's identity was not released as the teenager is a minor.

France has western Europe's largest population of both Jews and Muslims. The nation has faced a surge in anti-Semitic crime in the last decade.

Another horrific attack by North African “yutes” (as per Joe Pesci’s character in “My Cousin Vinny”) [read: Muslims in France] on their Jewish prey in Paris, reminds one not only of Ilan Halimi, but a more recent attack earlier this year on a Jew in the same town where Ilan was tortured/ murdered, and the burgeoning, disproportionate (i.e., 25X the rate of the not terribly philosemitic non-Muslim denizens of Europe) rate of Muslim on Jewish depredations across Europe.

Lille - Dozens of French youths clashed with police in a town in northeast France overnight, burning cars during a rampage triggered by the killing of a 22-year-old man, an official said on Sunday.

Two police officers, two firefighters and five residents suffered minor injuries during the violence that raged until Sunday morning in Vitry-le-Francois, said Sylvaine Astic from the regional prefect's office.

Armed with baseball bats and firebombs, about 50 youths went on a rampage, torching cars and setting fire to garbage bins in the town of 17 000 people, Astic told AFP.

The violence started around 22:00 (20:00 GMT) after the 22-year-old man was gunned down in Vitry-le-Francois. A suspect was arrested overnight.

About 60 police officers were dispatched to the town late on Saturday and remained in Vitry-le-Francois on Sunday.

A police union issued a statement denouncing what it termed as "hysteria" in relations between French youth and police.

"This started out as a murderous settling of scores," said Nicolas Comte of the SGP-FO police union.

"But quickly this tragic event prompted a violent group to attack police with baseball bats and molotov cocktails as young bystanders watched passively, like spectators to the 'riot show'," said Comte.

He linked the latest outbreak to the 2005 suburban riots, France's worst unrest in decades, when poor immigrant-heavy areas around Paris and other major cities exploded into three weeks of violence.

"Nothing has been resolved since. The fire is still burning under the ashes," said Comte.

About 250 people took part in a silent march in Vitry-le-Francois on Sunday, led by the victim's mother who wept as she walked holding a photograph of her son through the low-income neighbourhood of Rome-Saint-Charles.

The 2006 Hizbullah war against Israel was packaged in France as a (Lebanese) humanitarian crisis. Public opinion was worked to a frenzy by images of suffering civilians while on the diplomatic level the French foreign minister gradually imposed terms and conditions dictated by Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah and trickled down through Fouad Siniora to his French ally. UN Resolution 1701 “saved” Lebanon from Israel and delivered the country into the hands of Hizbullah. UNIFIL troops looked the other way as Hizbullah rearmed. The besieged Siniora government was reduced to impotence. French opinion makers followed with lazy distraction as the Iranian-backed movement pursued its jihad style takeover.  By contrast, the current jihad putsch with its massive attack against civil liberties has been underplayed. And the fate of French UNIFIL troops has not even been mentioned. Citizens of the free world should be transfixed in horror at the sight of jihad in action. Instead they are fed outdated analyses of the specter of civil war.

A Lebanese woman in hijab beat her breast and screamed in fury: “Hizbullah promised they’d never turn their weapons on us… they’d only use them on the Jews.” The translator changed Yahoud to Israelis. As if that could protect them from a similar fate in a not too distant future. Prematurely aged, her teeth botched with dark lead caps, the woman spoke more sense than any of the news reports coming from the region since Hizbullah pulled its latest operation in an ongoing jihad putsch.

Her words should be posted at the head of every dispatch from Lebanon. Europeans, take heed. You thought their weapons would only be used against the Jews…Israel, that is. Ultimately they will be aimed at You!

In 2006, two days after Goldwasser and Regev were kidnapped in a cross-border attack from Lebanon then president Jacques Chirac delivered his traditional 14 Juillet (Independence Day) speech. Sharply rebuking Israel for a disproportionate response aimed at destroying Lebanon, he called for an immediate humanitarian cease fire.

French diplomacy was already at work at the UN. French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy led Condoleeza Rice in a dance to the tune of Hizbullah, gradually inserting Nasrallah’s demands filtered through Siniora into the initial ceasefire resolution. They came up with Resolution 1701 that was supposed to be heartened by a beefed-up UNIFIL. Chirac promised to send 3000 troops, reduced to 800 as soon as the resolution was signed.

On the home front we were treated to an endless flow of primetime humanitarian crisis. French media visited frantic Franco-Lebanese families whose youngsters, vacationing in the homeland, were trapped in the wrath of Israel’s disproportionate response. Whole newscasts were shot on the docks as tearful refugees of varied nationalities—most of them hyphenated Lebanese—were evacuated. Microphones lapped up their indignation at Israel’s disproportionate response.

Today French media detect no humanitarian crisis. No refugees. The airport is closed, the port is closed, and no one seems to have the courage to open an escape route. Or even to admit what is happening. A ridiculous vocabulary imposed by Hizbullah is picked up and mindlessly repeated. It started with food riots. A few days later it was “civil disobedience.” And now it is “calm restored,” as the army moves in and holds the positions established by the putschistes.

Though the Sarkozy government is striving to break with three decades of twisted Mideast policy, no strong statements have yet been heard. FM Kouchner is still trying to figure out how to get humanitarian aid workers into Burma against the will of the junta and the refusal of the UN to take a stand. France is in easy living mode as the long Mayday weekend melded into the long Pentecost weekend. And no one has thought of soliciting a comment from Jacques Chirac, who is living in a luxury apartment that belongs to Saad Hariri. His generous benefactor--whose media have been torched, whose government is surrounded, whose soldiers are disloyal, who can be eliminated at will--might appreciate a kind word from his late father’s best friend.

The French website 5 Years Later has posted maps that illustrate the advance of Islam in France. I’ve taken the latest one from 2008 showing through shades of green the areas of implantation of the religion of peace and tolerance. The numbers on the map are those of the departments and have nothing to do with numbers of Muslims. The chart at the bottom runs from fewer than 5 to more than 30 mosques, prayer rooms or meeting houses. So we see that, in the southwest, department 33 has more than 30 while department 40 has fewer than 5.

You will note also the inset in the upper left showing Paris (75) and its three surrounding suburbs. The name for that whole region is Ile-de-France, but someone has chosen to emend it to Êl-de-France.

Four French police officers were injured with lead shot in clashes with masked youths in a south Paris suburb.

PARIS, March 3, 2008  - Four French police officers were injured with
lead shot in clashes with masked youths in a south Paris suburb, in what
Interior Minister Michele Alliot-Marie described Monday as an "ambush".

According to an interior ministry statement, the officers were called to a high-rise estate in Grigny on Sunday after a local bakery was vandalised.
When they arrived, they were confronted by "around 30 people whose faceswere masked and several of whom were armed," it said.

Three officers were treated at the scene after being hit in the face by lead shot. A fourth was hospitalised with leg injuries caused by lead shot and nails.    

Calm returned late Sunday after massive police reinforcements were sent to the neighbourhood.    Alliot-Marie called for the gun-toting youths to be identified and face "exemplary sentences."    
Several dozen police officers were similarly wounded last November during three days of riots in the north Paris suburb of Villiers-le-Bel, raising fears of a repeat of nationwide unrest in 2005.

       PARIS, March 5, 2008 - France's main Jewish group voiced indignation     Wednesday after it emerged a gang had locked up and attacked a Jewish youth in     the same Paris suburb where a young Jew was tortured to death two years ago. .

       Six youths from Bagneux, south of Paris, are accused of locking up a     19-year-old youth in a storage room on February 22, beating and sexually     tormenting him, and scrawling 'dirty Jew' and 'dirty faggot' on his face.

       Aged 17 to 25, the youths -- who knew the victim -- had falsely accused him     of stealing from them, according to judicial officials. The young man was     later hospitalised "in a state of shock"..

       Richard Prasquier, head of the French Council of Jewish Institutions, the     CRIF, said the incident confirmed the "need to remain vigilant in the face of     anti-Semitism."

Vigilant. Vigilant? The man should be flogged for even using the word.

       The youths face charges of group violence motivated by a person's "real or     supposed race, religion or sexual orientation", acts of torture, blackmail and     theft..

       A young Jewish man, 23-year-old Ilan Halimi, was kidnapped for three weeks     and tortured to death by a violent extorsion gang from Bagneux in 2006, in a     suspected anti-Semitic crime that shocked the country..

       Close to 30 people are under investigation over the killing, with the     gang's alleged ringleader, Youssef Fofana, to stand trial for murder in the     coming months.

       Anti-Semitism is a sensitive issue in France, where the 600,000-strong     Jewish community is western Europe's largest, and which is also home to a     five-million strong Muslim population.

Those Jews have got to bolt.

Sarkozy Caves on Teaching Holocaust

Speechless. Completely speechless. When I ran the article of Sarkozy's standing up to the Jew haters, I never thought he would back down. It's a history lesson for Gd's sake. It happened. The asshats over at the EMDH children's rights group said: "No educational project should be constructed on death." Really? I guess they won't be conducting any history classes anymore. At least not any historically accurate ones.

Sarkozy Drops Holocaust Education Plan Israel National News (hat tip Carolyn)

(IsraelNN.com) French President Nicolas Sarkozy has dropped his proposal to teach the Holocaust to children following a wave of protests from left wing politicians. He told the annual conference of the French Jewish umbrella group last month that every pupil should be assigned a name of a Jewish deportee during the Nazi rule and then research the family. Critics objected to the plan, arguing that it would cause schoolchildren to suffer trauma.
   
The government will explore other avenues to "encourage children in classrooms to look at, not other children in particular, but rather a given situation in a given city," according to former government minister and Auschwitz survivor Simone Veil. He agreed with opponents of the proposal, saying it was "unimaginable, unbearable and unjust."

Palestinian writers urge Paris Book Fair boycott hat tip Rut

JERUSALEM, February 26, 2008  - The Palestinian Writers' Union on Monday
urged Arabic publishers to boycott next month's book fair in Paris because
Israel will be the guest of honour.
   "We asked Palestinian and Arabic publishing houses to boycott this fair,"
the union's president, Al-Mutawakel Taha, told AFP.
   "It is not worthy of France, the land of the revolution and human rights,
to welcome at its book fair a racist, occupying country," Taha said.

Coming from savages that's rich. Do they have books in Gazastan? Ibn Warraq in his remarks at Columbia a couple of weeks ago said, ""the total number of books translated into Arabic in the last 1,000 years is fewer than those translated in Spain in one year. Greece, with a population of fewer than 11 million, translates five times as many books from abroad into Greek annually as the 22 Arab countries combined, with a total population of more than 300 million, translated into Arabic."    He claimed that inviting Israel at the March 14-19 fair would "legitimise
all its fascist acts".

No silly, you mean the UN. That's their reason for existing.

   Some 40 Israeli writers have been invited by the fair's organisers, to mark
the 60th anniversary of the Jewish state.
   Palestinians call the May 15 anniversary the "Nakba," or Arabic for "the
catastrophe".

The catastrophe is the repect the world gives these barbarians. Farenheit 451, eh?

Justice for Halimi?

First, please review lan Halimi: Islamic Jew Hatred in France. Halimi's brutal fate after a horrific, barbaric campaign of unrelenting torture and finally murder in a  "homemade concentration camp" by Jew hating French Muslims is impossible for a human being to conceive.

France sends 29 to trial over kidnap and murder of Jewish man'

The 2006 kidnapping, torture and killing of Ilan Halimi revived concerns about anti-Semitism in France.

Authorities found the 23-year-old naked, handcuffed and covered with burn marks near railroad tracks in the Essonne region south of Paris.

He died on the way to the hospital after being held captive and tortured for more than three weeks. Targeted and kidnapped for being a Jew.

Three weeks of unimaginable torture. Three weeks. So many clues. So many guilty animals partaking in the continuing torture in their "homemade concentration camp."

The screams must have been loud because the torture was especially atrocious: the thugs cut bits off the flesh of the young man, they cut his fingers and ears, they burned him with acid, and in the end poured flammable liquid on him and set him on fire.

Horrible tortures. Horrible torturers.One of the torturers would go to work at a TV station everyday and come back and partake in the torture.  The girls that lured young men. They knew he had been kidnapped. They knew Yosef (the leader of the Barbarians) were extremely violent. They knew Ilan was still in his hands three weeks later. All they  had to do was make an anonymous phone call to the police. No one would have known. They did not do it. No neighbor thought to say to the police, something strange is going on in this building.
