Exclusive: Sharia Infiltrates German Courts, Schools, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Once again a German court ruled by referring to Shrai’a (Islamic law), which predominantly incites to denigration of women, hatred, violence.

 

Most recently, Lisa, a German woman (46) married to an Egyptian, called the police seeking protection for herself and her 17-year-old daughter from assaults by her husband. Magdi, Lisa’s husband, threatened to kill their daughter who had been raped by a man. Magdi, a practicing Muslim, believes that his daughter committed “Zena” (adultery). He told his wife that he was always suspicious of his daughter who clandestinely had a German boyfriend. Lisa filed a divorce case against her husband, and requested deporting him.

 

The judge, Matthias Rau, at a court in Hanover, Germany, ruled (January 21, 2009), Lisa had to wait for at least one year before she is legally divorced. Her husband cannot be deported. “He must be re-educated, in hopes he would renounce his Islamic understanding of ‘Zena,’” the judge said.

 

The German judge argued, “Muslims have a different understanding of rape than Europeans, and this must be taken into account.”  

 

In an interview with a German radio, NDR on February 18, 2009, Rau said, “Sharia aligns rape to adultery, Zena, and victims – women – are often punished instead of prosecuting the perpetrators and convict them.”

 

Helmut Wagner, another German judge, this time in Essen, ruled March 2, 2009, Muslim girls in Germany can not be forced to swim in public and learn about the evolution theory at school. The parents of three school girls requested a verdict freeing their daughters from taking part in swimming classes and lessons which teach the evolution theory. Wagner argued, “These things contradict tenets in Islam, the religion of these girls, and hence in light of freedom of religion, the Muslim girls cannot be forced to do or learn things which are incompatible with their religion.”

 

The Attorney General was indignant. He objected to Wagner’s verdict by saying, “How would this judge rule if a Muslim kills someone who commits apostasy. According to the Koran, he must be killed. Would the judge let the perpetrator free?” The Attorney General cites the Koran which says, “If they (Muslims) turn (their) back (to Islam), then seize them and KILL them wherever you find them, and take not from among them a friend or a helper.” (Sura 4, verse 89).

 

The attorney General added, “In Islam, polygamy is permissible. Should also this be sanctioned in Germany for Muslims? It seems to me that some German judges are more royal than the king and more Catholic than the Pope. Some Arab countries use Western legal codes.”

Japan's prime minister expressed anger.

"They can call it a satellite or whatever, but it would be a violation" of a 2006 U.N. Security Council resolution banning Pyongyang from ballistic missile activity, Taro Aso said. "We protest a launch and strongly demand it be canceled."

Japan's coast guard and Transport Ministry issued maritime and aviation warnings, urging ships and aircraft to stay away from the affected regions.

Hisanori Iizuka, a spokesman for Japan Airlines Corp., Asia's biggest carrier, said the airline will reroute some flights during the April 4-8 period.

SEOUL, South Korea — Japan strongly protested North Korea's planned rocket launch, warning Friday it could shoot it down after the North said it would fly over Japan and designated a "danger" zone off the country's coast.

North Korea has given U.N. agencies coordinates forming two zones where parts of the multiple-stage rocket would fall, unveiling its plan to fire the projectile over Japan toward the Pacific Ocean sometime between April 4 and 8.

One of the "danger" zones where the rocket's first stage is expected to fall is in waters less than 75 miles (120 kilometers) from Japan's northwestern shore, according to coordinates released Thursday by the International Civil Aviation Organization and the International Maritime Organization.

The other zone lies in the middle of the Pacific between Japan and Hawaii.

In Tokyo, Chief Cabinet Secretary Takeo Kawamura told North Korea to abandon the launch and said Japan was ready to defend itself.

"Legally speaking, if this object falls toward Japan, we can shoot it down for safety reasons," he said.

Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada said Japan would "deal with anything that is flying toward us. We are preparing for any kind of emergency."

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said Thursday a North Korean satellite or missile launch would "threaten the peace and stability in the region."

Though it is an international norm for countries to provide such specifics as a safety warning ahead of a missile or satellite launch, it was the first time the communist North has done so. It did not issue a warning ahead of its purported satellite launch in 1998 over Japan and a failed 2006 test-flight of a long-range missile.

The North's notification to the ICAO and IMO underscores that it is intent on pushing ahead with the launch in an attempt to gain greater leverage in negotiations with the United States, analysts say.

"They want to do the launch openly while minimizing what the international community may find fault with," said Kim Yong-hyun, a professor at Seoul's Dongguk University. "The launch will earn North Korea a key political asset that would enlarge its negotiating leverage."

U.S. State Department spokesman Robert Wood called the North's plan "provocative."

"We think the North needs to desist, or not carry out this type of provocative act, and sit down ... and work on the process of denuclearization of the Korean peninsula," Wood said.

Analysts, including Kim, say a rocket launch would raise the stakes as well as the benefits the impoverished nation might get from negotiations with the U.S. and other countries trying to persuade it to give up its nuclear weapons program. The North has repeatedly used brinksmanship in the past as a negotiating tool to gain concessions and aid.

Separately, North Korea on Friday barred overland border crossings for the second time this week, leaving hundreds of South Koreans working at a joint industrial complex in the North stranded on both sides of the border.

About 250 people, who are mostly South Koreans but also include an Australian and two Chinese, had planned to return Friday to the South from the complex in the North Korean border town of Kaesong, South Korea's Unification Ministry said, adding that some 610 people were unable to cross the border to the complex.

"Our government expresses our deep regret over the fact that this kind of situation has been repeated," Unification Ministry spokesman Kim Ho-nyeon told reporters.

Can We Give To Gaza Without Giving To Hamas? Claudia Rosett

If stuffing billions worth of aid into the Palestinian territories could end Islamist terrorism out of Gaza, it might be worth the money. That seems to be President Obama's gamble, with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton jetting to a donors' conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, this past Monday, to chip in $900 million on behalf of U.S. tax payers. All told, more than 70 countries, cheered on by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, pledged a whopping total of $4.5 billion in fresh aid to the Palestinians.

The focus was largely on repairing damage to Gaza, after Israel's recent three-week battle to shut down mortar and rocket attacks out of the terrorist-controlled enclave. But, as Clinton described it, this is a nuanced effort. The broad aim is to bypass the Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists who control Gaza, and shovel resources for strictly humanitarian uses into the enclave "in coordination with" the Palestinian Authority, which is run by the U.S.-favored Fatah faction, Hamas' rival, based in the West Bank.

Thus the long and winding title for the Sharm el-Sheikh powwow: "The International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Economy for the Reconstruction of Gaza." Thus, also, the confusion and contradictory news accounts over how much of the multiple billions in aid will flow to the West Bank, how much to Gaza, when and how this will happen, and who will decide.

On the matter of how exactly the "safeguards" will work, the State Department has been stunningly vague. At a State Department press briefing on Monday, while Clinton was in Egypt making her pledge, a spokesman said that up to $300 million would go for Gaza's "urgent humanitarian needs" as identified by the U.N. and the Palestinian Authority. Those funds, he said, would flow via United States Agency for International Development "in coordination with U.N. agencies, international organizations and USAID grantees" and "through the State Department for the U.N. agencies, [International Committee of the Red Cross] and other humanitarian organizations."

That's just the U.S. agenda, before we get to the even less transparent donations, such as the $1.65 billion pledged by the Gulf Arab States, to be handled out of the Saudi capital. To explore every rabbit hole on this list could be the work of an entire career. But let's go down just one of the big ones.

Looking for further hints about what this three-ring aid circus might entail, I pulled up the Web site on Tuesday of the U.N.'s lead agency in Gaza, the U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, best known as UNRWA. There, on UNRWA's home page, as of this writing, is a photo of the U.N.'s Ban Ki-moon, standing in a damaged UNRWA warehouse, backlit by what appear to be rays of the sun, during his visit in January to Gaza. Next to Ban's photo is a blurb about his appeal for "crucial funds needed for Gaza's reconstruction after the recent Israeli offensive."

But just below Ban's photo is where it gets interesting. The same Web page lists several banks, complete with Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) codes and account numbers through which benefactors are invited to send money to UNRWA for its "Special Gaza Appeal."

One of them is the state-owned Commercial Bank of Syria, headquartered in Damascus, which is an intriguing choice for Ban and UNRWA to condone, because for the past five years this bank has been under sanctions by the U.S. Treasury as an institution of "primary money-laundering concern."

In 2004, Treasury imposed sanctions on the Commercial Bank of Syria, alleging it had laundered illicit proceeds from the U.N.'s Oil-for-Food program in Iraq, and had also handled "numerous transactions that may be indicative of terrorist financing and money laundering." According to Treasury, this included two accounts "that reference a reputed financier for Usama bin Laden."

In 2006, Treasury finalized its rule, which is still current, against the Commercial Bank of Syria. Under-Secretary Stuart Levey alleged that the bank had been used by terrorists to move money, and "as a state-owned entity with inadequate money laundering and terrorist financing controls, the Commercial Bank of Syria poses a significant risk of being used to further the Syrian Government's continuing support for international terrorist groups." Among the terrorist groups cited as examples of such clients were Hezbollah in Lebanon, and such denizens of Gaza as Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and Hamas.

UNRWA's choice of this bank is all the more curious in light of the lifestyle choices of a number of Hamas leaders, such as Khaled Meshal, who are based not in Gaza, but work "in exile" in Damascus. According to a Council on Foreign Relations backgrounder released in 2006, Meshal has served Hamas from Damascus as head of the terrorist group's politburo, and as chief strategist and fundraiser. In 2006 he was alleged by Israeli then-Vice Premier Shimon Peres to have ordered the kidnapping into Gaza of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, who has not been released.

A man who is accused of waging a urine and faeces-spraying campaign at two supermarkets, a pub and a bookshop caused £700,000 damage, a court heard yesterday.

Sahnoun Daifallah, 42, is alleged to have squirted a brown, foul-smelling substance from a spray container at four businesses in Gloucestershire on May 14 and 16 last year.

The court heard the man from White City, Gloucester, visited the Air Balloon pub at around 12.45pm on May 14 where police were called after he asked a barmaid Susan Lawson-Bagent how much it would cost to rape her.

When officers arrived Daifallah had gone but he had left a trail of stench behind him which the prosecution say was his calling card.

Stephen Dent, prosecuting, told the jury: “He mixed up an evil potion of various biological ingredients including his own faeces and urine.

“It was not until after he had left that staff started to notice a bad smell of excrement.

“We say that this was his little calling card because he did not like the way he had been treated.”

Daifallah then moved on to Waterstone’s bookstore in Cirencester where it is alleged he sprayed the brown substance all over a toilet in the coffee shop.

Staff noticed the smell but it was not until after he had left the store that they discovered a 20-metre area of 38 shelves had been doused in the foul substance.

In total 706 books were contaminated, most of them in the children’s section.

On May 16 at around 11am Daifallah is said to have visited the Tesco store in Quedgeley.

Mr Dent said a customer saw Daifallah reach into his laptop bag and produce a jet of fluid over the frozen chips.

He allegedly moved on to the wine section where a member of staff saw a fine vapour come from bag and on to the wine, leaving brown fluid over the shelves.

The store was closed for two days while it was cleaned and the cost of the damage was £421,000.

Daifallah is then alleged to have driven to the Morrisons store in Abbeydale where an employee in the wine section noticed him acting strangely.

Mr Dent said: “The assistant said that Mr Daifallah absolutely stunk, that he had to stop himself from gagging because of the strong smell of ammonia and urine.”

Daifallah, of Bibury Road, has pleaded not guilty to four charges of contaminating goods and two charges of damaging property of Waterstone’s and Morrisons.

He also denies possession of material to contaminate goods and having an offensive weapon, namely a catapult with marbles.

Daifallah has chosen to represent himself in court.

The jury was shown CCTV footage of a man dressed all in black, which the prosecution say is Daifallah, carrying a bag, entering and walking around Tesco and Morrisons.

The prosecution also showed the jury close-up pictures of the meat counter and dairy section of Morrisons where products were covered in a brown slurry.

Police arrived at Daifallah’s home 10 minutes after he left the Tesco store and while the incident was unfolding in Morrisons, and waited for him to return.

On searching the house they found messages scrawled all over the walls with what the prosecution say are fantasies about biological weapons.

One message said: “The ants get out to every direction to get food, then they bring it back to Tesco and Asda.

“If you poison those then you kill the ants.”

Police also found a camcorder bag containing sachets of excrement each labelled with the name of a city or town – Bristol, Cheltenham, Birmingham, Worcester, Cardiff and Gloucester. Bottles containing faeces and urine were also found in his kitchen and car.

Last Saturday they were 20,000 (police figures) or 25,000 (organizer’s claim). Today they were 30,000 (police estimate) or 100,000 (organizer’s assertion). With a dozen hefty police cars and several rows of riot policemen in the lead, he demonstration left Place de la République at 3 PM, went down boulevard Beaumarchais to the Bastille and from there to Place de la Nation. Some “minor” incidents have been reported in the press so far, attributed to “smashers” who didn’t really belong to the demonstration. For some mysterious reason they went straight to Place de la Nation, where they caused the usual trouble, until they were finally joined by the real demonstration, to which they were not really attached. This unlikely story will not convince anyone who actually saw the demonstration, with its smashers ready to smash.  Their faces covered to show the heights of their courage, they ran in packs, often in the opposite direction to the rank and file.

The march was mean, ugly, raucous, defiant, hysterical, frightening. Hundreds of Palestinian flags, a few Hamas flags, and a huge banner proclaiming support for Hamas, carried by the Indigènes de la République. Watch their video on this site http://www.indigenes-republique.fr/ Pro-Hamas, pro-Hizbullah, unashamedly extremist, they claim to resist until all of Palestine (=all of Israel) is liberated. Chanting Palestine vivra, Hamas vaincra (Palestine will live, Hamas will win) the indigenes (the natives) vilify the French president, Arab leaders, Bush of course and, if I heard right, Obama as well. The Indigènes are the hardcore of the demonstration. They are the ultimate in humanitarian protest, n’est-ce pas?  I don’t have to tell you, just watch the video, and you will understand that these people will do whatever their leaders tell them to do. There is no limit.

The rest of the demonstration stretched out in various degrees of jihadism. The banners were slapdash, the “bloodied” sheets were sloppy, the blood libel baby was a dummy. Occasional posters thanked Hugo Chavez (for kicking out the Israeli ambassador), hundreds bore portraits of the founding warlord Izzedine al Qassam. The usual slogans accused Israel of cold-blooded murder, proclaimed “We are all Palestinians of Gaza,” demanded that the media tell the “truth.” Meaning the whole truth, the Hamas truth, and no other truth.  The sound trucks looked like IEDs. The keffieh was de rigueur. Some wore it around the shoulders, some wrapped it around the head…all that was missing was the RPG.

Extreme left anti-capitalist party leaders, Marie-Georges Buffet and Olivier Besancenot, were present and accounted for. There was mention of someone from the Human Rights League. Mouloud Aounit, president of the MRAP, an anti-racist association that known for its dallying with Islamists, announced that the demonstration was a warning to France. They must intervene for an immediate ceasefire and/ or send forces to protect the Palestinians from the Israelis. The demonstration, he said, is not communitarian (ethnic) or religious, it is in the name of justice.

The infidel minority was a bit stronger this time than a week ago. As I presumed then, the UOIF had a lot to do with the turnout. A colleague, Clément Weill-Raynal, confirms that the French branch of the Muslim Brotherhood told imams to talk up the Gaza crisis at Friday prayers, and get the people out into the streets. A week of phony humanitarian crisis and atrocity reports in French media has probably mobilized additional support for the Gazaouis and their Hamas government.

This week France 2 admitted, barely, that a 12-second sequence allegedly showing death and destruction caused by an Israeli airstrike on January 1st was in fact footage shot in 2005. They did not bother to explain that the footage in question was used at that time to falsely accuse Israeli forces of committing an atrocity when in fact the casualties were caused by a truck laden with explosives that went off accidentally in the midst of a crowd in Jabalya. The newscaster mumbled the half-hearted apology without bothering to rerun at least a few seconds of the fake footage so that viewers would know which sequence was being retracted and why. And, more important of all, she did not mention that most of the videos the station is showing these days from Palestinian sources are also faked.

French media have slipped headlong into blood libel mode. Just as they did in September 2000 when the pre-planned jihad attack against Israel was disguised as a popular uprising that turned radical because of a disproportionate Israeli reaction to perfectly normal protests. Today, French media are wallowing in blood, steaming hot libelous blood. If anyone in the French media’s Jerusalem studios is checking the videos that pour in, it must be a Hamas operative. Those courageous Hamas combatants are hiding underground and, with the help of Western media, launching lethal narratives at Israel. Talal Abou Rahma of Mohamed al Dura fame gets a credit now and then, but he has too much competition this time around. Not likely to reap rewards for any scoops!

I suppose the same stories are going around everywhere. The Israelis shot at a UN (they don’t like to say UNWRA) contractor trying to bring in humanitarian aid, forcing the UN to suspend distribution; the Israelis gathered over a hundred innocent civilians in a building… and then bombed it;  etc. , etc., etc. Enough atrocities to go around the world…and strangle it. You can see some of them on the front page of the Communist newspaper, L’Humanité, displayed by demonstrators today.

And of course if we object to staged, faked, doctored, and photoshopped images it means we don’t care about the children who really did get killed or wounded. Tell it to the humanitarians who demonstrated today.

Someone from the Lyon branch of a Muslim association warned that France better heed the message delivered today and take a strong position (against Israel of course). If not, the banlieue is going to explode. That’s right, it’s going to explode. There are elements in the banlieue, he said, that can’t be controlled. No one—not the associations, the political parties, the imams—can control them. Israel can no longer be given special dispensation from respect for international law.

If Nicolas Sarkozy hoped to calm the banlieue by his strong condemnations of Israel’s disproportionate response to the Hamas rocket attacks, which he also condemned, it wasn’t worth the loss of dignity. Today’s demonstrators and the masses they speak for won’t be satisfied with half-measures.

Jewish community leaders in Rome expressed outrage over a trades union proposal to "identify and boycott" Jewish-owned shops in the Italian capital in protest of Israel's operation in Gaza, The Times reported Thursday.

The proposal was put forward by Giancarlo Desiderati, leader of the Flaica-Uniti-Cub union, which represents 8000 shop assistants in Rome, the report said.

According to the London-based newspaper, Gianni Alemanno, the mayor of Rome, condemned the boycott call, and Jewish leaders said it was reminiscent of the anti-Semitic racial laws adopted seventy years ago by the Fascist dictatorship of Benito Mussolini in imitation of Nazi Germany, under which only "Aryan" shops were allowed to open.

Thousands protest in Europe at Gaza offensive Reuters

LONDON (Reuters) – Thousands of chanting, banner-waving demonstrators marched in cities across Europe on Saturday to demand a halt to Israeli bombing in the Gaza Strip.

Protests were held or scheduled in Britain, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain as the Israeli offensive entered its second week. Kuwaitis also took to the streets, a day after bigger Middle East rallies.

In Paris, police said more than 20,000 demonstrators, many wearing Palestinian keffiyeh headscarves, marched through the city center chanting slogans like "Israel murderer!" and waving banners demanding an end to the air attacks.

Similar protests were planned in some 30 other towns.                        

London police said more than 10,000 people staged a noisy march and rally to urge an end to an Israeli offensive against Hamas militants that has killed at least 435 Palestinians.

In many European cities people waved shoes -- recalling the action of an Iraqi journalist who hurled footwear at U.S. President George W. Bush in Baghdad last month in a symbolic insult.

British demonstrators threw dozens of shoes into the street as they passed the gated entrance to Downing Street, where Prime Minister Gordon Brown lives, and shouted angrily at a line of 40 police officers on guard there.

Paul Mukerji, 42, from Birmingham, acknowledged Israel had security reasons but called its action disproportionate.

The memorial to the Holocaust's 6 million Jewish victims consists of a field of 2,700 gray slabs situated close to the capital's Brandenburg Gate.

It opened to the public in 2005 and is freely accessible around the clock. Similar vandalism has occurred on several previous occasions.

EUROPE EMBRACES EVIL AGAIN

It is hard to believe that while Shoah victims and holocaust survivors still walk among us, that we would witness an evil so severe and grotesque that it would make the rhetoric of the Third Reich look mild.
Yes, the Nazis killed millions -- that was the obvious monstrous result of their campaign.
We have not yet witnessed the "final solution" of Islamic jihad -- but there are incontrovertible facts that are blinding. The Nazis hid their crimes. The Nazis pretended to be doing one thing while subversively carrying out its "extermination" of Jews,  gypsies, "undesirables", etc. They engaged in rhetoric and obfuscation.

This time is different. The Muslims are not engaging in rhetoric. They are not pretending. They want the Jews dead and they exult in their wild screams of blood lust. Such joy, such happiness at their Jew hating chants from a joyless people.
The Germans went to war, conquered countries and with the help of those weak governments and people annihilated the Jews. The Holocaust was a German initiative subsequently carried out by every nation the Nazis conquered in Europe, with the exception of Denmark.
It's not a national initiative this time. It's global........... a wave of evil has washed over this earth like a veritable tsunami and it has colored everything.

I expect this barbarity and Jew hatred from the Arab/Islamic world. It's what they do and what they have always done.

But what was the lesson that Europe learned after the holocaust? It was not that evil is bad and that they behaved like monsters, but, as Caroline Glick said in our interview, that " rather that everything was caused by nationalism and therefore what we really need to do is have a European Union that will obviate our need for nationalism so that we can become this transnational gobbletygook and we'll all get together and therefore we won't have another Auschwitz". But really the lesson the Europeans should have been is that "we were evil and we have to be good. And that is the lesson we have to learn and and we have to be able and willing to make moral distinctions and stand up for the good and fight evil and that is something the Europeans refuse to do."

Once again Europe chooses to embrace madness and evil as its central unifying characteristic. And this time England is leading the way.

I believe good will triumph over such overwhelming odds and numbers. I know it in my bones, but one has to look at the global landscape and say, at what cost?

Across the street was an anemic counter protest. Where were the Jewish kids? NOWHERE. Jewish leadership and the diaspora have failed miserably in the education of our youth. The entire Muslim rally was young, wild -- frenetic. Itchy fingers on hair triggers.

Jewish lay leadership should be thrown out on the dhimmi asses. They have failed an entire generation of slackers.

"Israel is a terrorist state!" Screaming, yelling, very ugly .... police were not prepared. At one point the Muslims broke out crossed the street and confronted the 18 Jewish and Israel lovers across the street (watch the video, I caught part of it).

Someone tell this asshat that Israel has been sending truckloads of humanitarian aid into Gazastan.
The keffiyeh is their signature - the new swastika.

....our Defence Dept who said they have access to telephone nos. in Gaza and beginning two days ago began calling the Arab population of Gaza in areas where the Israel Air Force was going to bomb and left messages in Arabic telling them to get out, since their gov't, led by Hamas, had placed strategic weapons and ammunition in their area and Israel was forced to destroy it to protect it's citizens.

First, let me say that the idea of placing ammunition and weapons among it's citizenry is a violation of human rights and the UN. This is something the Arab gov'ts have been doing in just about every war with Israel. Hamas is among the most uncaring and even among it's citizenry that supports them they have used their homes and living space to store ammunition and weapons. Hezbullah in Lebanon did the same thing.

The other point I want to make is that we have been extremely careful to avoid civilian casualties and when was the last time in the history of warfare that any gov't called it's enemy populations and told them to get out since their areas were targeted and tried to protect civilians. To my knowledge this is a first.

I don't think you'll see this story in the popular western press. But it did happen and is happening here. On two different occasions in the past two days  I personally heard on radio that our gov't thru the ministry made more than 90,000 telephone calls per day to Gaza residents warning them that their specific area was targeted.

Please let your friends and neighbors know about this action that does show we care, and don't let the local media cry about the poor civilians who are being massacred when their own Hamas gov't cares less about them than their mortal enemies.

PALESTINIAN WEEK ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES: EMORY - MODERN DAY POGRAMS

"Palestinian Week" The historical lie manufactured by the brutal terror master Yaser Arafat,  systematically  used to beat the Jews about the head, is spinning out of control. "Palestinian Week" is a rotating band of goons disgorging hate, thuggery, intimidation and terror. It is sponsored by Muslim Students Association (MSA), a key lobbying organization for the Wahhabi sect of Islam, with a network of over 200 chapters on college campuses. I wanted to share with you something that came across my e-mail box today. I am a brother of AEPi Zeta (Georgia Tech ME, Class '07). I have received the following:

Dear Brothers,

On Saturday night while our entire chapter was out of town at their Fall Formal the house (university owned) was attacked by a Molotov cocktail and set on fire. Luckily passerby's saw it and quickly called the fire department. The damage was confined to a relatively small area of the front door and front porch. There is smoke damage in the house but it's livable.

Last week was very tension filled at Emory with "Palestinian Week" and it culminated on Friday with a mock fence set up degrading Israel's security fence. Tensions were high all week but the week ended and we thought that it was over. Unfortunately, the chapter was called back from their out of town formal to find the fire and it's remnants.

We have all been in touch with the university president, Greek Life people and security personnel. The undergrads are very shaken by this incident. Luckily we have excellent leadership and we have arranged for security for the next few nights as well until things calm down. Our Epsilon Chapter is the largest on campus and very identified as Jewish. The group numbers more than 100 men and they are not a squeamish bunch by any means.

These "Palestinian Weeks" go from campus to campus across North America - about a half dozen or so a year and cause a varied amount of havoc in their wake. We've seen much worse than this in California and Canada but it's scary certainly anywhere it happens. These groups are sponsored and funded by the MSA "Muslim Student Association" and you can probably guess where their funding comes from.

We had another scare tonight at 7:00 PM at Emory and the police emptied our house. An unidentified book bag was on the porch and the bomb squad was called in. It turned out to be nothing but made the kids even more nervous. I am speaking with them every couple of hours and after the early evening scare all is quiet now.  Although this is a university building and I believe they are doing all they can,  I expect the phone to start ringing tomorrow morning from parents. We will do our best to assure them that it's calming down.

In Friday’s Wheel there was a disturbing cartoon directly comparing the Nazi ghettoes with the separation fence the Israelis have erected on the West Bank. This equation is historically spurious and highly prejudicial. The Germans put Jews from throughout Europe in ghettoes to either die a slow death of starvation, deprivation and disease or a faster death with a bullet or poison gas.

When Israel withdrew from the Gaza strip, it left behind fertile farms, hothouses filled with advanced hydroponic systems for growing vegetables, and other installations which could have been used to better the Palestinians’ lot. Most were destroyed by the Palestinian people. International funds were raised to help the residents of Gaza. These too have resulted in little improvement. Meanwhile, rockets from Gaza continue to be fired into Israeli towns. A barrage Saturday put 18 people in the hospital. In response, Israel has shut the border between Gaza and Israel, further increasing the suffering of the residents of Gaza.

There is a serious problem in the Middle East but Woodliff’s glib comparison of Jews to Nazis is not only ill-informed, it demonstrates a certain prejudice — antisemitism — which will never help resolve the situation. Whatever one thinks of Israeli policy, to describe it as akin to the Nazi policy of murdering all of European Jewry is to engage in antisemitism and a form of Holocaust denial.

Finally, I was struck by the explanatory note the Woodliff appended to the drawing. No editorial cartoon should need an explanation or an addendum. If the cartoonist is any good, his work should speak for itself. With that I rest my case.

And this from the faculty - a responsible faculty, thank G-d. The professors at Duke could learn a thing or two.

Senator Charles Schumer recently triggered a massive bank failure by publicizing a letter claiming IndyMac Bank was on the verge of collapse.  That caused a run on the bank by its panic-stricken depositors.  (Taxpayers may end up paying up to $8 billion to bail out the bank).  He's been criticized for that by many, including the Wall Street Journal.

Rawls's  training is as an economist. He was writing a book on republicanism (the system of liberty under law)  when he was discovered that the Flight 93 memorial was going to be a terrorist memorial mosque. His  position is simple: The planned Flight 93 Memorial is a terrorist memorial mosque. Not only does the giant crescent point to Mecca, but architect Paul Murdoch proves that this orientation is intentional by repeating it in the crescents of trees that surround the Tower of Voices part of the memorial. Of course we should have expected that the enemy would enter, and try to win a memorial to their heroes instead of ours. Much harder to understand is the willful blindness of those who are charged with the memorialization of Flight 93, which is supposed to be the symbol of our woken vigilance.

    Every place where the terrorists are memorialized in the crescent design, they are placed in the symbolic Islamic heavens (the crescent and star parts of the design). Every place where the 40 heroes are memorialized, they are depicted as symbolically damned, cast out of the symbolic Islamic heavens. One example is in the Tower of Voices, where an Islamic shaped crescent soars in the sky above forty symbolic souls that literally dangle below:

Virginia Islamic Academy had its corporate charter revoked and never filled out IRS forms Surprise, surprise. But will their Saudi connection bail them out? I would guess that it probably will. "Virginia’s Islamic Academy on Shaky Legal Ground," by Patrick Poole for Pajamas Media, June 27:

An investigation by Pajamas Media has found that more trouble may be on the horizon for the Islamic Saudi Academy and the Saudi Embassy.
PJM first reported on the academy, a school sponsored by the Saudi Embassy, two weeks ago when law enforcement authorities raided it, looking for evidence that the school’s director, Abdullah Al-Shabnan, had covered up sex abuse allegations by a 5-year old student. The raid occurred just three days after the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors had renewed the school’s lease despite evidence that the school continued to use textbooks promoting violence and religious hatred.

Since then Abdullah Al-Shabnan has been charged with failing to report the child abuse allegations and obstruction of justice. A protest was held last week in front of the academy and it received considerable local media coverage, including from the Washington Post. That coverage no doubt played a role earlier this week when in a stunning about-face the Fairfax Board of Supervisors sent a letter to the State Department asking them to determine whether the lease should be renewed or not in light of the report earlier this month by the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) that reviewed the academy’s textbooks and found that incendiary and hateful passages had not been removed.

The school has issued a press release claiming that the passages have been “mistranslated and misinterpreted,” and saying that the “textbooks are no longer at use at the Academy.” That contradicts statements made last week by school officials to the media that textbooks will be rewritten and reissued before the beginning of school. Why would the textbooks need to be rewritten if those under scrutiny are no longer in use?

The textbooks are not the only elements of the school that don’t hold up under scrutiny.

Virtually all of the establishment media press reports have wrongly claimed that the school operates independently of the embassy as a private entity. Even Tom Casey, the State Department’s deputy spokesman, made this error during his June 24 daily press briefing:

QUESTION: I understand that you’ve received a letter from the — from Fairfax County asking you whether you could give an opinion on the lease of the Saudi school in Alexandria and whether the county should extend that lease, which I am told it’s worth $2.2 million a year. But — just, I mean, do you expect to pronounce yourselves on that? Is that something that you –

MR. CASEY: Well, I think it’s something we’ve just gotten. We’ll certainly take a look at it and see what kind of response would be appropriate, but I — you know, it’s not something we’ve had a chance to really look through. As you know, this is a school that is incorporated and overseen through the county there. It’s not an institution that we have any sort of formal role in accrediting or managing. But certainly, we’ll take a look at the letter and if there’s some thoughts or advice that we can offer, we’ll certainly do it.

And State Department spokesman Nichole Thompson has also said:

This is a private school. It is not a part of the Saudi embassy. It is not part of a diplomatic mission.

These claims by State Department officials make clear their position that the Islamic Saudi Academy has maintained a separate corporate identity from the Saudi Embassy. But a review of the corporate records on file with the Virginia State Corporation Commission finds that the Islamic Saudi Academy’s corporate charter was terminated by the state on December 27, 2004. There is no indication from state records that the incorporation has been revived or renewed, and the last corporate report the school has filed with the state of Virginia that we could find was 2004 — the same year its corporate charter was terminated. A check of corporations in neighboring District of Columbia and Maryland found nothing for the academy.

Shocked? Don't be. Why should they have to obey kaffir laws?

Fanatical cleric Abu Qatada is to receive almost £8,000 a year in benefits because he has a bad back.

The suspected Al Qaeda leader, described as Osama bin Laden's ambassador in Europe, will get £150 a week of taxpayer's cash after being released from jail last week.

Astonishingly, he was granted the incapacity benefit because his back condition makes him unfit to work, even though he is only allowed out of his home for two hours a day, meaning it would be almost impossible for him to get a job.

U.S. panel upholds deportation of Nazi guard Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A U.S. appeals panel has upheld an order to deport an 83-year-old Wisconsin man accused of serving as a Nazi SS guard whose duty was to finish off dying Jews in a two-day mass execution in Poland that killed more than 40,000, the U.S. Justice Department said on Monday.

Josias Kumpf participated in a 1943 Nazi operation that resulted in the murder of thousands of innocent victims. His culpability in this atrocity does not diminish with the passage of time," said Acting Assistant Attorney General Matthew Friedrich.

The department said Kumpf had admitted to participating in what the Nazis called "Operation Harvest Festival" in November 1943. About 42,000 Jews were killed over two days in the mass execution at three prison camps in German-occupied Poland.

Kumpf, who had joined the Nazi SS Death's Head guard in 1942, was serving at the Trawniki slave-labor camp at the time of the massacres, the department said.

"Kumpf stood guard as approximately 8,000 Jewish prisoners, including approximately 400 children, were shot and killed in pits at Trawniki," the department said. "According to Kumpf, his assignment was to watch for victims who were still 'halfway alive' or 'convulsing.' If any of the prisoners attempted to escape, he stated, his job was to 'shoot them to kill."'

The massacre was "one of the most infamous crimes of the Holocaust," said Eli Rosenbaum, head of the Justice Department's Nazi-hunting unit, the Office of Special Investigations.

The Justice Department said Kumpf had immigrated to the United States from Austria in 1956 and became a U.S. citizen in 1964. The special investigations office and the U.S. attorney for eastern Wisconsin sued in 2003 to strip Kumpf of his citizenship and won the case in 2005.

'Wanted Nazi' at Euro 2008 will not be extradited Times Online hat tip wolf

Austrian authorities have defended their decision not to extradite a wanted Nazi war criminal who was spotted supporting his national team at the European Football Championships.

Milivoj Asner, a Croatian citizen wanted for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed during World War Two in Croatia, is number four on the Simon Wiesenthal Centre list of most wanted surviving Nazi criminals.

Croatia has repeatedly demanded his extradition in order to put him on trial, but Austrian authorities have refused to hand him over, after court experts determined that he was suffering from Alzheimer Disease and old age dementia.

Mr Asner, 95, however, has been spotted in the company of his wife Edeltraut during a leisurely walk though the southern Austrian town of Klagenfurt, where the couple reside, and was filmed drinking wine and mingling with Croatian football fans.

However, officials at the Austrian Justice Ministry told The Times that they stood by their decision not to extradite Ms Asner, as he had been declared unfit to stand trial by medical experts on two separate occasions.

May they all rot in hell. And the Nazi murderer deserves a bullet right between the eyes.

Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith called Mugabe's presence in Rome "obscene". Britain also criticised Mugabe's rare foray out of Zimbabwe where he is fighting for his political future in an election runoff.     

"This is the person who has presided over the starvation of his people. This is the person who has used food aid in a politically motivated way," Smith said.     

"So Robert Mugabe turning up to a conference dealing with food security or food issues is, in my view, frankly obscene," added the Australian minister, who is also to attend the Food and Agriculture Organization summit.

There were also protests in Italy by activists, leftist politicians and Jewish groups against Mugabe and Ahmadinejad.    

"It is in no way legitimate for the people of Zimbabwe to be represented by a head of state who has been disowned by the international community and who is unwanted by his own people," Sergio Marelli, Italian host of a forum on food sovereignty coinciding with the summit, told AFP.

Ahmadinejad's presence at the summit "addressing the tragedy of hunger in the world symbolises the devastating contradiction between the violence of totalitarian governments and their demogogic statements," demonstration organisers said in a statement.

Iran's president took yet another swipe at Israel and the U.S. today claiming the former "would soon disappear off the map" while he branded the latter a "satanic power" which faced destruction.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke out at a gathering of foreign guests marking this week's 19th anniversary of the death of Iran's late revolutionary leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

He said: "You should know that the criminal and terrorist Zionist regime which has 60 years of plundering, aggression and crimes in its file has reached the end of its work and will soon disappear off the geographical scene."

Turning to the United States, he added that the era of decline and destruction of its "satanic power" had begun. He said: "The bell on the countdown of the destruction of the empire of power and wealth has begun to ring."

Disgraceful: Passing Motion 25

When I spoke to Caroline Glick about the impending motion in the UK against Jews in academia she said,

"I think it’s important to understand, that you know, these calls for boycotts of Israeli universities and academics are seasonal propaganda initiatives that try to demonize Israel, you know, every spring or every fall, or whatever. But it’s important to understand that there is an academic boycott of Israeli institutions by British universities; it’s been going on for several years and whether it’s institutionalized in a vote or not the fact of the matter is that, university departments and professors in Britain and publications systematically boycott their Israeli counterparts. And I think, you know, that it’s important to realize that it’s already happening it’s not a “are they going to decide boycott Israel or not?”. They are boycotting Israel; it’s just a question of how often they want to bring it up.

Because in addition to the fact that they are already boycotting Israeli academics and institutions, they are using it not just quietly and saying “we prefer not to deal with Jews” but they are doing it in a way that gives them constant propaganda initiatives and campaigning items. Because they pretend that they are not doing it but they are because they have embraced this anti-Semitic ideology which they call anti-Zionism and they use it in their everyday lives that’s how prevalent it is in British culture today and that’s why Britain is such a problem".

Yesterday I attended the University and College Union's annual congress, where a motion encouraging a boycott of Israel was debated. The union leadership were at great pains to say this wasn't a boycott motion, and it's true that the motion didn't use the word 'boycott': but it called on members to consider the moral and political implications of collaborating with Israeli academics; it asked them to discuss the occupation with those colleagues; it claimed that most Israeli academics are 'complicit' in the conflict; it mentioned that criticism of Israel isn't anti-Semitic 'as such', while ignoring the fact that the proposed measures are not a matter of criticism but of ostracism and punishment; and it raised the question of the appropriateness of continued educational links with Israeli academic institutions. Legal advice on this motion, taken by the Jewish community's Stop the Boycott campaign, has said that it amounts to a call to discuss a boycott of Israeli academics which risks violating the Race Relations Act, and the General Secretary implicitly acknowledged this when she said that the union would implement matters within the law. So it looked to me, and to all the other anti-boycotters I spoke to, exactly like a motion encouraging people to consider a boycott.

Motion 25 was passed, by a huge majority. There was a real, palpable desire in the meeting to take some action against Israel. An otherwise rather somnolent audience woke up at the first mention of Palestine, and applauded every suggestion that action should be taken against Israel. A congress which had just passed very moderate motions on Burma and Zimbabwe and Sudan, about solidarity with trade unions and asylum seekers, and putting pressure on governments, quite clearly felt that these measures weren't sufficient for Israel's crimes: that for Israeli academics, nothing but punishment would do.

At first the discussion was procedurally unexceptionable - both sides of a debate were permitted on an amendment which called, among other things, for the motion to be put to a ballot of the whole membership. This amendment was voted on and rejected - the majority of union delegates didn't want to give the membership of the union the opportunity to choose for themselves on this issue. But when Motion 25 itself was proposed and seconded, several delegates spoke in favour of it - and then it was moved that it be put to the vote. None of the people who wanted to speak directly against the motion were permitted to do so. However, the motion's proposer, Tom Hickey, was at this point allowed by the Chair to speak in favour of it again. No explanation or justification was provided for halting the debate before anyone could speak against the motion, while allowing its proposer to speak twice. I have to say, though, that in my opinion even if the debate had been conducted in an impeccably proper manner, it would have made very little difference: that audience really did want to vote against Israel.

This measure will discriminate against Israeli academics, and will impinge quite disproportionately on Jewish academics here in the UK. Most of them do not support any academic boycott against Israel, nor the de-legitimization of Jewish nationalism and of Israel's existence; and many of them want to work in collaboration with Israeli colleagues. Whether or not the procedures mandated by the motion are actually implemented is a matter on which the union executive will decide, but in some ways the damage is already done - the vote has normalized discrimination, the union leadership has made no effort to address, or to get Congress to address, the relevance and implications of anti-discrimination law in the UK, and if the policy isn't ultimately implemented the membership will be encouraged to think that some inappropriate force has pressured the union to drop it. So whatever now happens, the motion's supporters have achieved one thing: they have exacerbated the sense of isolation and alienation in the union felt by those who, even though they may strongly criticize some of Israel's policies and practices, sympathize with her often terrible problems, see the need for her existence, and wish her well. Their sense that the union is not a friendly environment, that it is ultimately a hostile place for people like them, will have materially increased as a result of today's activities by their union colleagues.

Because motion 25 was passed, I now belong to a union which is trying to discriminate against those of its Jewish members who don't think it's right to single the Jewish state out for punishment over and above far worse polities, or that it's right to hold it, and it alone, wholly responsible for the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. I spent yesterday afternoon sitting in a room with a large group of otherwise unobjectionable people, knowing that the great majority of them want in practice to discriminate against their Jewish colleagues. In July 1940, Hitler issued what Nicholson Baker calls ‘a final appeal to reason’. ‘The continuation of this war,’ he said in a speech, ‘will only end with the complete destruction of one of the two warring parties . . . I see no reason that should compel us to continue this war.’

‘It’s too tantalising, since there’s no shadow of a doubt we will reject any such suggestion,’ Frances Partridge wrote in her diary afterwards, adding the savagely deflating rider: ‘Now I suppose Churchill will again tell the world that we are going to die on the hills and on the seas, and then we shall proceed to do so.’

If this fascinating and upsetting book is the story of anything, it is above all the story of Winston Churchill telling the world that we are going to die on the hills and on the seas, and of people then doing so — and dying, too, in the forests and in the valleys, the ghettos and in the cities, in the air and in tunnels under the ground.

Since Winston Churchill is still widely regarded as the man without whose doughty stand against Nazi Evil we would all be speaking German, he is Baker’s biggest target. And, boy, does he go to town. The Churchill presented here is infantile, capricious, egomaniacal and sybaritic — a ruthless militarist excited by war, careless of the lives of his own and enemy civilians alike, and intoxicated by his own rhetoric. ‘His real tyrant is the glittering phrase,’ the Australian Prime Minister noted, ‘so attractive to his mind that awkward facts may have to give way.’

The standard squawk of protest will be that Baker is indulging the unforgivable sin of ‘moral equivalence’. I don’t think he is — though he wades in exceptionally deep waters. He is indulging, we can say, in ‘moral comparison’. He is interested above all in trying to find a way to step to one side of the endless rhetorical circles by which ends justify means, and the means of the other side justify making your means your ends. He is interested in the self-affirming pathology of violence, and in the ways that a war, waged by all means deemed necessary by its leaders, became on both sides a racist war of extermination.

Beyond any doubt, there were crazed symmetries, because both sides believed that the answer to violence was more violence. Canting references to ‘peace-loving’ nations driven to take up arms by intolerable aggression were belied by the bloodthirsty reality. ‘Peace offensive’ is a term used with great pungency here; as is talk of the ‘moral effect’ on civilians of indiscriminate bombing. The one common enemy Churchill and Hitler had were people who didn’t want to kill at all. Pacifists and humanitarians were regarded on both sides as a pernicious threat — to be suppressed in print and interned in person.

The two chief evils Human Smoke addresses in most detail are both things that the Allies took the lead on: bombardment and blockade. Both were methods of war aimed at civilians. Both caused incredible suffering. Both were sold on a series of lies. Both did not work. The response in both cases was to step them up.

As refugees and civilian populations in Belgium, Poland, Norway and Holland faced starvation, Churchill refused to let food relief through the blockade. He told Parliament that fats would be used by the enemy to make bombs, potatoes used to make fuel, and that — less plausibly — ‘the plastic materials now so largely used in the construction of aircraft are made of milk’.

Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) has announced that its leadership has refused former U.S. President Jimmy Carter’s request for a meeting. According to PIJ’s QudsNews website, Egyptian authorities contacted PIJ Secretary-General Dr. Ramadan Shallah on Carter’s behalf earlier this week, inviting Shallah to meet with Carter in Cairo. Shallah is listed on the FBI’s list of Most Wanted Terrorists, and the reward for information leading to his apprehension is $5 million. In turning down the request, Shallah declared that Carter is “carrying an American-Israeli agenda,” while PIJ spokesman Daoud Shahab blasted Carter’s criticism of Palestinian rocket attacks during the former president’s visit to Sderot. E-mails and phone calls to the Carter Center press office seeking confirmation of Carter’s outreach to PIJ have not been returned.

This news should finally shatter Carter’s credibility as a peacemaker. Of course, Carter’s decision to meet Hamas leader Khalid Meshal had already sullied his Nobel reputation, with his posse of former laureates canceling their plans to visit the Middle East with him in response. Earlier today, Carter’s credibility sank even further, when CNN reported that Mahmoud al-Zahar and Said Seyam-two of Hamas’ most radical leaders-would convene with Carter in Cairo.

Yet Carter’s attempt to meet with PIJ is his most disturbing gambit to date. After all, PIJ is generally considered even more extreme than Hamas. While PIJ shares many of Hamas’ militant features–including its coordination of terrorist activities, calls for Israel’s destruction, and theocratic aims–PIJ lacks Hamas’ social and political significance. It does not have the social welfare network on which Hamas has built its popularity, while PIJ’s refusal to participate in the 2006 parliamentary elections points to its minimal public authority among Palestinians. Carter is therefore unable to argue that PIJ is somehow central to any Israeli-Palestinian peace process, which is the very argument he has used to defend his meetings with Hamas officials.

Ultimately, one is left to wonder when Carter’s constant efforts to outdo his own moral stupidity will end.

PELOSI PERFIDY PLANNED US DEFEAT

Andy sent me this EXPLOSIVE story: The Speaker of the House, California Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, lead an entourage to hold talks with Syrian President Bashar Assad, with intentions of undermine our military operations inside Iraq, and members of that entourage met with members of the PKK (The Kurdistan Workers' Party), an affiliated terrorist organization, namely PJAK (An arm of the PKK who were tasked with handling the battle within Iraq.) leader Rahman Haji Ahmadi, and everybody in the know was too scared to go public with it.

Remember that trip last spring by Pelosi (in the hijab no less) and 7 members of congress to Syria?...and remember how after their trip the PKK started their incursions into Turkey and the Turks moved troops on the border and tensions between the PKK and the Turks suddenly seemed to escalate?...leading some on the right to imagine the speaker of the house trying to cut off the supply line to our troops in Iraq so that we will loose the war...there was much speculation about the Speaker having a hand in this?...and remember the "intense" diplomacy between Sec. Rice and the Turks? Eventually things got under control, but for a time it looked uncertain. This seemed like the perfect coup by the liberal democrats to sabotage the war effort by cutting off our supply lines running through Turkey. But there was nothing to verify any of this except mere speculation and a healthy dose cynicism. Until this morning. Well, sorta.

Andy (who sent me all this data)  was listening to talk radio when the host Jim Quinn of The Quinn & Rose Show mentioned for the second day in a row the aforementioned topic of the Pelosi trip. The reason he was talking about this a year removed was because the topic came up about how the democrats killed the free trade deal with Columbia, effectively siding with the narco terrorist group FARC, and Thug Hugo Chavez. Which made him revisit the Pelosi/Syria trip once again. That was yesterdays show.

Today he informed his listeners that someone in Washington was listening in to yesterdays show and heard him talking about the Pelosi trip, and that that DC listener had sent an email to someone he [Quinn] calls "son of deep throat" telling him that he was exactly right about someone from Pelosi's delegation meeting with members of the PKK. He said the letter went on to explain that it wasn't Pelosi who met with them. It was the late Tom Lantos, and Louise Slaughter (D) NY who met with the PKK members. This is a rough transcript.

Certain members of Pelosi's 7 representative delegation to Syria last spring met with officers of the PKK an affiliated terrorist organization...this is not an assumption...this is something that several republican congressmen know with 100% certainty, but they can't come  forward with it because they need to protect sources and methods...It was not Pelosi who originally had the meeting with the PKK, nor was it Henry Waxman or the original Muslim Congressman, Keith Ellison...It was Tom Lantos and Louise Slaughter democrat from New York who had the actual meeting with Haji Amadi, the leader of the PJAK, which is an arm of the PKK who were tasked with handling the battle within Iraq, and other PKK and KCK officers. He said that one PKK officer Marrett Kereillin(sp)  has even bragged on  this and other meetings in interviews in English and Arabic and Farci language publications. This is all the source could and likely will say...He feels if we continue to talk about it the story could break in the national media...the possibility of some Kurd or even a PKK member or a sister terrorist organization might be willing to discuss what they know or one of the intelligent sources, French, US, Israeli, Iraqi, who already are aware of the meeting will finally see the need to leak it...or even a democratic staffer will come forward with the facts... If this is true we have a bunch of people in the congress of the United States who have committed treason...they have actually consorted with the enemy to create a situation that cuts off the   supply line to an American military operation...Tom Lantos is dead Louise Slaughter is still alive...If this is true...this is enormous...it's so big the average American can't even get their head around the idea that the speaker of the house would lead an entourage to try to undermined a military operation and put our people in danger.

SANDMONKEY: Let me tell you something. I was in Turkey a couple of weeks ago and I met a couple of Syrian activists. They one thing they told me that was really funny about the Pelosi visit. After Pelosi came to Syria two things happened. People on Syrian TV were saying, "We forced the Americans to knock on the Damascus gate!" Sort of like an admission that we messed things up in Iraq so much that America had to come and beg for their help.

But the day after Pelosi's visits there were immediate arrests of Syrian activists. That was the fruit she yielded. "Oh the Americans came over and they said they have a different foreign policy  and they're more interested in placating Bashar's ego." And he went out and got [arrested] everyone he wanted because he knew he had an ally in Washington that wouldn't pressure him as much.

A dark day in history: Nancy hands out 'the Chavez Rule'

Wednesday night I wrote an article for Pajamas Media explaining the consequences if Nancy Pelosi delayed a vote on the Colombia Free Trade Agreement.

Yesterday Pelosi, who I now consider an enemy of America, changed the voting timeline rule on trade pacts from 90 days to whenever.

This is the first time in history that Congress failed to approve a major trade pact.

Monica Showalter of Investor's Business Daily yesterday afternoon describes why this is an evil move (yes, I am choosing my words carefully - it is an evil thing Pelosi has done). I post the editorial in its entirety (emphasis added):

Congress: The cowardly start more wars than the courageous. Nancy Pelosi's craven altering of House rules to kill off Colombia's trade pact brings that danger to the Andes. If war breaks out, her name will be on it.

April 10 may end up as a date which will live in infamy. The Speaker of the House not only refused to step forward and be counted on approving the vital Colombia free-trade agreement, she ran away from letting anyone else vote on it.

After President Bush submitted the pact to a vote under fast-track rules, she changed them to ensure it wouldn't go anywhere anytime soon. By a 224-195 House vote, the voting timeline rule on trade pacts was changed from 90 days to whenever. Pelosi now can hold up Colombia's treaty however long her caprice dictates.

"The message Democrats sent today," a bitter Bush warned after Thursday's vote, "is that no matter how steadfastly you stand with us, we will turn our backs on you when it is politically convenient."

Pelosi's move leaves Colombia, an ally, in limbo and uncertainty. She may think her clever maneuver was done in a vacuum, but it wasn't. In Venezuela's capital of Caracas, where Hugo Chavezfla-bank-meeting-to-focus-on-biofuels Apr-3-2008 holds forth, and in the jungles of Colombia, where drug terrorists hide out, Pelosi's move was watched closely.

Indeed, within hours of the vote, Latin American media already were calling Pelosi's maneuver the "Chavez Rule."

The Venezuelan dictator is no doubt fascinated at how Pelosi could do this to America's best ally in Latin America, punishing a vibrant democracy by isolating it from all the other nations that have sought and won free trade.

Unlike, say, military aid, this deal costs the U.S. nothing, is too small to have much impact on the U.S. economy and is mainly about ending tariffs on U.S. goods sold in Colombia, matching the no-tariff trade that Colombian firms already get here.

Free trade was what Chavez's enemy, Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, considered his best weapon. And Pelosi knocked it right out of his hand, just to placate her party's union supporters .

Only a month ago, Chavez sent 10 tank divisions to the Colombian border after Colombia's army blew away a FARC terrorist kingpin. He warned he would bring war inside Colombia.

Encircled by tanks not only in the East by Venezuela but also in the South by Chavez's cat's paw, Ecuador, Colombia asked the U.S. for just one thing: to pass the free-trade agreement. No tanks. No jets. Just free trade.

Now without it, Chavez might be emboldened to strike. After all, he'll hear from congressional sources that Pelosi probably won't bring up a vote on the trade pact for at least several months. He'll use that time to pick fights with its now-forsaken neighbor. The fact that Colombia can't get even a trade pact tells him all he needs to know about American commitment.

So even though the pact was not rejected outright, its absence will be inherently destabilizing. There's nothing Chavez or his FARC allies dread more than Colombia armed with trade rights that will boost its economy beyond the allure of Chavista populist promises.

At Argentina's 2005 Summit of the Americas in Mar del Plata, Chavez made his enmity toward free trade known by hurling insults at the president of Mexico and vowing to "bury" free trade.

Now, thanks to Pelosi's bid to shunt Colombia off to trade limbo, the potential for war in a tinderbox Andean region â€" over any border incident or FARC terrorist attack â€" has been heightened.

The world and its dictators don't sleep. The cowardly number that Pelosi did on Colombia likely will prevent the soft power of free trade from working, instead opening the gates to the hard power of war â€" and pulling in the U.S. whether Pelosi likes it or not. If so, we'll have the her to thank.

Nancy Pelosi has covered herself in a cloak of shame and infamy. Unfortunately for us, everybody in the hemisphere will have to pay the consequences.

The message Pelosi has sent the world is that in America, the only superpower in the world, political squabbles take precedence over security interests.

I expect she'll be paying Hugo a visit soon.

Outcry as Muslim extremist is allowed to tour Britain to 'promote violence'

The Home Secretary came under fire last night for allowing a radical Lebanese propagandist with links to the extremist group Hezbollah to enter Britain for a national speaking tour.

The Conservatives urged Jacqui Smith to ban Ibrahim Moussawi from the UK, warning that he was "likely to foment extremism or promote violence".

Mr Moussawi edits Hezbollah's newspaper and is former political editor of the Iranian-backed group's television station, which is banned in many countries including France, Spain and the U.S. where its output is seen as anti-Semitic.

Moussawi is a special guest of Englands Stop The War Coalition and is touring the country to propagate Jew-hatred. (Imagine every stupid leftwing idiot in the UK joins the same organization: That's what the Stop The War Coalition is.) 

He was recently barred from entering Ireland, where he was due to speak at anti-war meetings.

He is scheduled to appear at an event in London tonight organised by the Stop the War Coalition, with more events planned around the country over the coming week.

Shadow Security Minister Baroness Neville-Jones attacked the Government's record of allowing radical extremists into the UK, after ministers previously ignored calls to deny Mr Moussawi entry to the UK.

But Pete Jackson from the Birmingham Stop The War Coalition, which organised the event, said Mr Moussawi's views were vital for a debate on the Middle East.

"We shouldn't simply follow the line that George Bush wants us to which is that anyone who disagrees with him is a terrorist whether he likes it or not.

"This is not the first time that Mr Moussawi has been to one of our conferences. He came to speak at one in London and he made an extremely valid contribution to the debate."

A Home Office spokeswoman said Jacqui Smith could exclude or deport someone from Britain only if their presence was "not condusive to the public good".

 

Moussawi has been in England before, participating in a conference against a war in Iran.

Columbia takes Chavez to International Criminal Court BBC:

Colombian President Alvaro Uribe says he will ask the International Criminal Court to bring genocide charges against President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela.

He accused Mr Chavez of sponsoring and financing Colombian Farc rebels. Venezuela denies the charge.

Colombian officials say a laptop found during a raid on a Farc camp held files indicating Venezuela gave Farc $300m.

THE CHAVEZ REGIME: Fostering Anti-Semitism and Supporting Radical Islam ADL

Over the years, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has befriended a number of questionable figures in South America and also in the Middle East where he has formed bonds through both OPEC and ideological channels. As Chavez's hatred of the United States Israe has grown, he has become close allies with a number of the West's most dangerous adversaries. These relationships grew only stronger during the Israel-Hezbollah war, when Chavez was outspoken in his criticism of Israel and the United States and in his support for Hezbollah.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad – President of Iran

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad explicitly threatens to wipe Israel< from the map, denies the Holocaust and defies the democratic world by supporting terrorism and extremism and pursuing nuclear weapons.

Chavez has visited Iran on several occasions, has hosted President Ahmadinejad in  Venezuela and has made extensive bilateral agreements with the current Iranian government. On July 30, 2006, while visiting Iran, Chavez and Ahmadinejad took part in a joint press conference at which Ahmadinejad stated, "Just like my dear brother Chavez expressed, [Israel's incursion] is a real shameful crime, and a handful of Zionists see an open path to crime…. We believe the real criminals are those who have created this illegal regime.

Also disturbing is Chavez's Argentinian ties:

BUENOS AIRES-Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has developed close links         with Argentine radicals ranging from Communists to right-wing nationalists,  some of whom, knowledgeable people here fear, have the potential to further  destabilize Argentina as it struggles to emerge from its worst economic crisis in decades.

In the Caribbean heat of Caracas, a continent away from the mock-Parisian         boulevards of Buenos Aires, Mr. Chavez is presiding over his own deepening         economic and political crisis. But his domestic troubles haven't kept him from working hard to push his notion of populist revolution. In Argentina, which is struggling to emerge from its own economic debacle, some in the    country's political leadership worry about the influence Mr. Chavez, who is due here for Sunday's inauguration of Nestor Kirchner, the country's   new president, exerts over local radicals.

There isn't any evidence that the Venezuelan leader is working to overthrow         governments. But his politicking comes at a very delicate time in Latin America. Fragile democracies throughout the region are struggling to cope with an economic downturn and growing popular resentment at the market-based  economic policies pushed by Washington and Wall Street. Mr. Chavez, who  has been accused of trying to turn Venezuela into a second Cuba, spouts   a heady mix of nationalist, leftist and populist sentiments.

    The October 23, 2006 failed explosive operation in Caracas     On October 23, 2006, the Baruta Municipality police found two explosive devices near     the U.S. Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela. One of the bombs was found in a box     containing leaflets making reference to the Lebanese radical Islamic group Hezbollah.     The local television news network, Globovision, reported one of the devices found in a     flowerpot near the Embassy, while the other device found outside a school, near the     diplomatic premises.     Wilfredo Porras, acting director of the Baruta police, said they arrested a man carrying “a backpack with six containers of 100 black powder bases, pliers, adhesive tape, glue and electric leads". At that time, the suspect declared the devices were “set to explode in 15 minutes".     1 “The idea was apparently to create alarm and publicize a message", Borraz told reporters, explaining that the explosives were made to scatter the pamphlets.2 It is possible that the second device was intended to explode near the Israeli Embassy but the suspect gotnervous and dropped it near the American Embassy.     \The arrested man is Jose Miguel Rojas Espinoza, a 26-year-old student of the state-run     Bolivarian University founded by President Hugo Chaves, offering free education.

    An organization calling itself the Hezbollah Latin America (Hezbollah LA) took     responsibility for the attack on October 25 on their website and promised they would     stage other simultaneous attacks, with the same goal of publicizing the organization. The website presented Rojas as “the brother mujahedeen, the first example of dignity and struggle in the cause of Allah, the first prisoner of the revolutionary Islamic movement Hezbollah Venezuela”.3 The organization already threatened to explode a non-lethal device on August 18, 2006, which is surprising since they publicly announced their plans and because no one seemed to take notice to this warning. The target mentioned was an ally of the U.S. in a Latin American city in order to launch its propaganda campaign. Hezbollah Venezuela would see this as a beginning of their war against imperialism and Zionism and to show its solidarity with the Lebanese Hizballah after the July war in Lebanon (see Annex 1).

"The Sephardic Tiferet Israel Synagogue suffered repeated attacks in the wake of several pro-Chavez demonstrations (see also ASW 2003/4). Following a government organized rally on 16 May under the banner “Against terrorism and foreign involvement, for respect of sovereignty, the homeland and the Constitution,” a group of persons scrawled slogans on its walls and in the car park, in the name of the ‘Simon Bolivar Coordination’ (Coordinadora Simón Bolívar − CSB) and the ‘Revolutionary Left Youth’ (Juventud de Izquierda Revolucionaria − JIR). It should be noted that Chavez’s revolution − the ‘Bolivarian revolution’ − is named after the 19th century general Simón Bolívar (El Liberator). The slogans read, inter alia: “Don’t allow Colombia to be the Israel of Latin America [an allusion to US attempts to bring Colombia under its wing in order to fight left-wing guerilla groups]”; Sharon is a murderer of the Palestinian People”; “Viva the armed Palestinian people”; and “Free Palestine.”

Similar graffiti, as well as the slogan “Jews go home,” appeared on the wall of synagogue after a pro-government rally on 6 June. It was signed by the pro-Chavez Communist Youth and the Communist Party of Venezuela. On 8 August a group of supporters from a pro-Chavez rally held at the close of his anti-referendum campaign daubed slogans such as: “Sharon is a murder. No to Israel,” with the letter ‘S’ shaped like a swastika. They also wrote, inter alia: “Viva Chavez and Arafat”; and “NO to Zionism.”

Virulently anti-Israel posters appeared on the streets of Caracas in December during the Second Bolivarian Congress of the People (II Congreso Bolivariano de los Pueblos). Signed by pro-government organizations such as MVR (Movimiento Bolivariano Revolucionario/Movimiento Quinta Republica [Quinta=5 in Roman numbers], the Chavez Party), the Communist Party in Venezuela (Partido Comunista de Venezuela) and Coordinadora Simón Bolívar, they read, inter alia: “Neither Orlando Urdaneta [Venezuelan anti-Chavez actor] nor the super-terrorist Israelis will succeed with our people”; “No to the Israeli commandos in Caracas”; “No to the involvement of Israelis in our nation”; “No to the Mossad and no to the CIA”; and “Bush+Sharon = murderers.”"

Who represents “mainstream Islam”?

This is a burning question that is often posed by the West to the Muslim Communities residing in the West. So immediately, we are going to face a problem. Here, the West wants us to say that the Muslims residing in Western lands are “mainstream Muslims” that follow “mainstream Islam.” In other words, they want us to forget that their is a powerful voice in the Middle East and South Asia, and instead, fill our heads with air making us think and feel that we are the superior part of the Ummah because we have an education and have more money and can speak English well. If they were to ask “mainstream Muslims in the West,” then this would have never ever become an issue. The idea of “mainstream Islam” is where the trap is placed. So the Muslims turn to media savvy people like Hamza Yusuf or so-called intellectuals like Tariq Ramadan. This trap is so well-placed and hidden that almost the majority of the Muslims in the West don’t see it. For those who do see it, they stay quiet on the issue. Why is this?

When a Muslim in the West is asked who represents “mainstream Islam,” he doesn’t realize that the West is playing their role of divide and conquer. This is their strategy. So the Muslims will look to those that “make Islam look bad” to Kuffaar - as if Islam is obsessed with its image in the eyes of the disbelievers - such as the Mujaahideen, the Mujaahideen Shuyookh such as Shaykh Abu ‘Aasim Muhammad al-Maqdisi, and the staunch Mujaahideen supporters such as Abu ‘Izzadeen and they (the ones who worry) will openly display a type of Baraa’ah against these brothers by calling them “extremists” and “radicals” etc. even though our role as Muslims is to unite - not on the basis of how the non-Muslims would see us - but on the basis of belief and activism.

Brother Anjem Choudhury, for instance, is labeled an extremist by many Muslims and Muslim groups in the West even though he never said anything which is considered Fisq, Kufr or Shirk. Forget that, he didn’t even say anything which is considered Makrooh! So what is holding us back from uniting with him and his likes? Is that not considered Da’wah?” In some cases it is and in some cases it is not. The problem comes when we try to apply one principal (such as the old woman who threw her trash on the Prophet (sallallahu ‘alayhi wassallam) every time he passed by) to all situations. There is a context and timing for everything and it is time for us to loosen up on the aspect of becoming fearful of what the Kuffaar might say or will say since failing to do so will make us feel stupid when reading the aayah,

وَلَنْ تَرْضَى عَنْكَ الْيَهُودُ وَلا النَّصَارَى حَتَّى تَتَّبِعَ مِلَّتَهُمْ

Never will the Jews or the Christians be pleased with you unless you follow their Millah (path/religion/lifestyle). (2:120)

And every time we do read it, we find ourselves ignoring tafakkur (reflection) upon this noble verse. Is it due to the clarity in the statement of Allah Ta’aala? I believe so.

*Organized the April 18, 1983 bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut that killed 63 people, including Robert Ames, the CIA’s top Middle East operations officer, and many of his best agents.

*Organized the October 23, 1983 twin suicide truck-bomb attacks on the Marine Barracks in Beirut that took the lives of 242 U.S. Marines and 58 French troops.

*Kidnapped dozens of Americans and French in Lebanon in the 1980s. In April 1984, kidnapped CIA station chief in Beirut William Buckley, personally torturing him to a horrible death.

*Conducted the June 1985 hijacking of TWA Flight 847 from Athens to Beirut, where he held 39 Americans hostage for 17 days. Wearing a ski mask, Mugniyeh prowled the aisles of the aircraft looking for U.S. military personnel and discovered U.S. Navy diver Robert Stethem. He tortured and shot Stethem, then dumped his body out on the runway in full view of international TV cameras. Later, the FBI was able to identify Mugniyeh’s fingerprints in the rear lavatory of the aircraft and indicted him for Stethem’s murder.

* Organized the March 17, 1992 bombing of the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, killing 29 persons and wounding 242.

* Organized in 1996 an attempt to blow up an El Al jetliner in mid-air. The suicide bomber, Hussein Mohammad Mikdad, blew off the lower half of his body preparing the bomb in an East Jerusalem hotel room. Interrogated in the hospital, Mikdad fingered Mugniyeh.

* Organized a joint Hezbollah-Al Qaeda operation, the June 25, 1996 suicide truck-bombing of the Khobar Towers in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, killing 19 American soldiers and wounding 372.

* Organized a joint Hezbollah-Al Qaeda operation, the August 7, 1998 simultaneous bombing of the US Embassies in Nairobi, Kenya and Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, resulting in 224 killed including 12 Americans, and over 5,000 wounded.

* Organized a joint Hezbollah-Al Qaeda operation, the October 12, 2000 suicide attack on the USS Cole in Aden, Yemen, killing 17 US Navy sailors and wounding 39
All of these terrorist operations of Mugniyeh’s were paid for by Iran. Mugniyeh first met Osama Bin Laden in Khartoum in June 1994. The meeting was arranged by Iranian intelligence. Whether or not Mugniyeh helped Bin Laden plan and carry out the Attack of September 11 is unclear. What is clear is that Mugniyeh and Hezbollah are cooperating hand-in-glove with Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and Al Qaeda in conducting the terrorist “insurgency” in Iraq.

Shuttling back and forth between Lebanon, Syria, and Iran, Mugniyeh is the principal director of terrorism in Iraq. He and his paymasters in Tehran will do anything to prevent losing his power base in the Bekaa Valley and the disarming of Hezbollah. So we come to the grim conclusion:

Imad Mugniyeh and the Hezbollah, at the direction of Iran, will ignite another civil war in Lebanon, destroying that country’s chances for democracy and freedom from Syrian colonial control - and halting thereby George Bush’s Middle East Freedom March right in its tracks.

Senators Introduce Semper Fi Act of 2008

Bill Stops Berkeley Earmarks and Transfers Funds to Marine Corps

February 6th, 2008 - Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senators Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), Saxby Chambliss (R-Georgia), Tom Coburn, M.D. (R-Oklahoma), John Cornyn (R-Texas), James Inhofe (R-Oklahoma), and David Vitter (R-Louisiana) introduced the Semper Fi Act of 2008. The bill would rescind over $2 million in hidden earmarks for Berkeley, California in the 2008 Omnibus Appropriations bill, and transfer the funds to the Marine Corps. U.S. Congressman John Campbell (R-California) is introducing a companion bill in the House of Representatives.

Last week, the City Council of Berkeley voted to oust Marine Corps recruiters from their downtown office, saying the Marines were "uninvited and unwelcome intruders." Berkeley officials also voted to give the radical protest group Code Pink space outside the recruitment office and urged them to "impede, passively or actively" the work of Marine Corps recruiters. One earmark provides $243,000 in taxpayer dollars for the organization Chez Panisse to create gourmet organic school lunches in the Berkeley School District. Chez Panisse is dedicated to "environmental harmony" and their menu features "Comté cheese soufflé with mâche salad," "Meyer lemon éclairs with huckleberry coulis," and "Chicory salad with creamy anchovy vinaigrette and olive toast."

Another earmark would spend $975,000 in taxpayer dollars for the University of California in Berkeley Matsui Center for Politics and Public Service, to create a new endowment and cataloging the papers of Congressman Robert Matsui. U.C. Berkeley currently already has a $3.5 billion endowment. Senator DeMint: "Berkeley needs to learn that their actions have consequences. Patriotic American taxpayers won't sit quietly while Berkeley insults our brave Marines and tries to run them out of town. Berkeley City Council members have shown complete ingratitude to our military and their families, and the city doesn't deserve a single dime of special pet project handouts."

Senator Cornyn: "The Berkeley City Council insulted our troops and offended people across the country. If the U.S. Marines are not good enough for Berkeley, neither are taxpayer dollars Congress would have sent there this year. That city closed its doors on the same individuals taking bullets on the front lines while fighting for the safety and freedom of families in Berkeley and throughout America." Senator Vitter: "The actions of the City Council of Berkeley are in stark contrast to beliefs of the vast majority of Americans who recognize and honor the service and sacrifice of our U.S. Marines. This is simply unacceptable and those funds could be better utilized by the Marine Corps."

Dr. Coburn: "The actions by the city of Berkeley are deplorable and insulting to those who are serving and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect the very freedoms that are being exercised to insult them. I know I stand with the majority of Americans in thanking our service men and women for their selfless service to our nation." Senator Inhofe: "Unfortunately, those on the Berkeley city council do not seem to understand the sacrifice of the brave men and women of the United States Marine Corps. By interfering with military recruiting, the city of Berkeley is hampering our ability to protect this nation. While the city of Berkeley and the protestors are free to say whatever they like, free speech is not a protection from consequence."

Senator Chambliss: "We need to send a strong message that our military personnel deserve our strongest support. Bolton: Chance Bush will okay strike on Iran is 'close to zero'

Former U.S. ambassador to the UN John Bolton said on Tuesday that there is almost no chance that U.S. President George W. Bush will approve a military strike on Iran before he leaves office in January 2009.

"It's close to zero percent chance that the Bush Administration will authorize military action against Iran before leaving office," he said.

He said the recent American intelligence assessment, according to which Iran halted its nuclear program in 2003, was a politically-motivated report intended to restrict the Bush Administration's room to maneuver.

"It seems that for the next few years the United States will be a bystander to the process," Bolton said.

Bolton also said that Israel's "stunningly successful" military strike on Syria last September could constitute a precedent for a similar attack on Iran in the future.

The Israel Air Force attacked a structure in northeast Syria that foreign media reports said was a nuclear facility built with North Korean assistance. Syria and North Korea both denied the reports, and Israel has remained silent. Bolton had warned of nuclear cooperation between the two countries before the strike.

"Why wouldn't the government of Israel want to take the credit for a stunningly successful military strike?" Bolton asked.

He is so fabulous. I mean really.

Bolton said Israel and the United States know very well that Syria's close relations with North Korea have not been severed, but refused to elaborate. He said North Korea might sell nuclear know-how and a ready-to-use nuclear bomb to the highest bidder.

"The proliferation of nuclear weapons in the middle east will start with North Korea. It counterfeits money, sells narcotics, and it will do anything for hard money," he said.

He insisted that Syria's nuclear efforts should be taken with the utmost seriousness, as North Korean expertise and Iranian willingness to fund are more available than ever.

He insisted that it be made known to the public that the facility that was hit was an offshoot of a joint Syrian, North Korean, and Iranian cooperation.

Mofaz hints at greater likelihood of military strike on Iran

Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz hinted Tuesday that the probability of a military strike against Iran has increased given "the deterioration of efforts to stop Iran diplomatically."

"The diplomatic timetable is running short and thus the next two years are critical for stopping Iran through diplomatic means," Mofaz, who also served as defense minister as well as chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces, said.

On Tuesday, the five permanent members of the UN Security Council proposed additional sanctions against Iran.

Are they kidding? You mean they've abandoned the strongly worded letter approach?

"Over the course of the last year, the Iranian train has been an express train while the international train has been a local train that experiences delays and stoppages at every station," Mofaz said. "The Iranian locomotive is galloping with strength towards a nuclear bomb and towards regional hegemony," Mofaz told a special session of the Herzliya Conference of the Institute for Policy and Strategy.

"Iran has made a mockery of the world and has bought precious time," Mofaz said. "There are two years left to stop Iran before it's too late. The Iranian nuclear program is not an end but a means. Iran hopes to turn into an Islamic superpower that will unite the entire Muslim world under its umbrella. In order to realize this goal, Iran needs a nuclear weapon."

Reuters: Belarus jails Mohammed cartoon publisher 1389 Blog

More and more writers, bloggers, and publishers face prison, financial ruin, or death.

BELARUS (Reuters) - Belarus on Friday jailed for three years an editor of an independent newspaper who reproduced cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad that first appeared in Denmark in 2005 and caused mass demonstrations across the Muslim world.

The 12 cartoons portraying the founder of Islam, including one showing the prophet with a bomb in his turban, outraged Muslims who saw them as blasphemous. More than 50 people died in protests across the world the following year.

Belarussian authorities shut down the “Zgoda” (Consensus) paper in March 2006, around the time when other European journals began reprinting the cartoons. The security service, still known by its Soviet-era name, the KGB, began an investigation after Muslims in the ex-Soviet state complained.

Editor Alexander Sdvizhkov was sentenced to three years in jail in a closed session of the court for incitement of religious and national hatred.

“May God and the holy cross be with us,” Sdvizhkov said afterwards. His lawyer said she would appeal.

Muslims constitute about two or three percent of the 10 million residents of the country wedged between Russia and three members of the European Union.

Earlier this week, I sighed heavily when yet another high minded intellectual, David Frum,  following in Dinesh's footsteps, had switched gears and gone on to attack the very people that will lead us to victory in the war on the Jihad. The greatest historians of our time, once again getting nailed to the cross, for telling the truth. Kill the messenger. As if the counter jihad movement wasn't small enough!

When I ran Robert's rebuttal, I wrote here, " David Frum has entered the jihad fray hoping to project his Western thinking onto what he would like the  Koran to be. Isn't that special? And tiresome. This is not Frum's milieu and it shows. I have been studying and covering this single subject intensively for 3 years now after coming to it after 9/11/01. I won't pretend to know as much as Spencer, Yeor, Bostom, Warraq, but I do know that they provide empirical evidence. They do the work to substantiate their deductions. It's not theory. It's fact and they back it up."

I blame Bernard Lewis for a lot of bad information, bogus intel and  fallacious deductions. Considered the world's leading scholar on Islam, he is an apologist and in many cases confused,dithering even,  if not  a liar.  His historical inaccuracies are well documented but his positions are enormously influential to world leaders and opinion makers so the harm he does is incalculable.

Bat Ye’or: Rejoinder to David Frum

David Frum's piece is here; my response is here. And now the great historian Bat Ye’or has kindly sent me this response:

In his latest article, “Ancient Holy Books, Modern Dilemmas” (posted January 8, 2008), David Frum poses as a referee in a disputation, pretending there are two alleged extremes, whereas he ignores the rules and the meaning of the subject itself. This hoax has often been used by Sages who pontificate: “As usual, the truth is in the middle.” But often this scenario of two opposed extremisms allows the Sages to pride themselves on what is only the appearance of wisdom. Moreover, this catch-phrase is meaningless, because truth is not found at a linear distance between two extremes. Between the Nazi genocidal policy toward the Jews and the victims’ affirmation of their right to live there is no middle-way solution. Would we discuss how many Jews it would be right for the Nazis to exterminate? Between slavery and human equality, there is no middle position. Between the dehumanization of dhimmitude and the inalienable right to freedom, dignity and equality, there is no meeting in the middle. Would one haggle over the amount due for protecting one’s life and rights?

David Frum describes my work as a study of Islam, whereas it is research into a neglected and specific domain involving Islamic theology, jurisprudence and history in relation to non-Muslims. Within this particular field, I only examined the Jewish and Christian aspect, not that of the Zoroastrians and other religious denominations. It is therefore not an assessment of Islam in general. Even more, in none of my writing is there the implication that Islam must disappear for the sake of peace. Maybe Frum has hidden his own thought, which he unconsciously projects on Robert Spencer and myself, while contrasting our alleged somber designs with his own generous wisdom -- which is not, in the least, very original. It hangs on the usual love paradigm of interfaith dialogue, dhimmi biased vision, and subvention of billions of dollars, while waiting with humble timidity for a powerful Muslim majority to reinterpret the Koran as a book of universal love and peace. I do not object to that, except that meanwhile, Muslim reformers even in Europe must hide to save their lives, while terrorism claims countless innocent victims throughout the globe, and tomorrow we might be facing a global nuclear jihad.

Inexplicably David Frum of the American Enterprise Institute—hardly an authority on Islamic doctrine, or history—has nevertheless lashed out——albeit inaccurately, and within the constraints of his own crude understanding—at two contemporary scholars, Bat Ye’or and Robert Spencer. A serious, respected writer/essayist on jihad terrorism sent me this assessment:

I don’t know why I should be surprised at this kind of thing any more, but I am. Frum really should have known better.

His criticism makes it sound as if you [AB] and Bat Ye’or and Spencer simply read the Koran and the Life of Mohammad, and inferred the nature of Islam from these isolated texts. As I said in my book—I would have no problem if Muslims decided to go back and read jihad out of the Koran; it would be okay if they pretended jihad had never played any important role in the expansion of Islam. I would rejoice if Muslims really behaved as Frum thinks he would behave if he were a Muslim! But it ain’t gonna happen.

Secularized Westerner intellectuals like Frum simply cannot imagine what it is like to be possessed by a living faith that commands its faithful to expand the community of the faithful by violent methods. This kind of fanaticism, as I argue in my book, is outside their imaginative scope. So whenever contemporary scholars like you, Bat Ye’or, or Spencer point out what every schoolboy once knew about Islam, you are the ones who are treated like extremists. When your first book came out I was astonished that anyone thought it was controversial. You didn’t make up the idea of jihad—you simply documented the historical Muslim theory and practice of it. And yet that is considered as “going too far.” The same thing can be said of Bat Ye’or work. If the two of you were merely investigating a historically transcended and outmoded form of Islam, I suppose you could be blamed for failing to let the dead bury the dead. But today people are still dying and killing in the name of Islam—but we are forbidden even to see the truth, let alone speak it.

WTF is wrong with everybody? These girls were murdered in the name of Islam. How is this story not huge? Why isn't it splashed across the front pages of every major American newspaper and news channel?
I am not getting it.

Most media has aligned itself with the terror force and subjugated itself to Islam (ie the refusal of all media to run those innocuous Danish cartoons.) And FOX? They loved a murdered damsel in distress (think Jesse Davis, Natalee Holloway, Stacy Peterson  on an endless loop- too many to mention). Is the 6% of FOX  the Saudis purchased enough to muzzle the network? It was one thing to change the coverage of the Islamic riots in France - but this is the United States. This is America. This is our country. NO ISLAMIC MURDER IN THIS COUNTRY.

Dr Nancy said,"We love our seventeen year old cell-phone-toting, tiny T-shirt wearing, boy-crazy, diva-girl teens in this nation. They are our (baby boom) daughters, they are our icons (Brit), they are our ideal (all forty year old American women trying to look seventeen). We have a soft spot for such girls which is why America is so obsessed with little girl lost Brit. Those girls were so cute and they were both American model-beautiful (the light sister) and dark-American attractive (the dark sister). "

Sisters, Amina, 18, and Sarah, 17, were each shot to death. Friends of the girls say their father was Egyptian and critical of popular American lifestyles. ""He was really strict about guy relationships and talking to guys, as well as the things she wears," said Kathleen Wong, a friend of the dead teenagers. "I'm definitely 100% sure that it was her dad that killed her."

The media won't even say what it is - honor killing (honor? how absurd).

Wong says the girl's father was verbally abusive and that Sarah, especially, lived in fear. "She's always told me that she was always so scared of her dad," says Wong. "Even at school if a teacher joked around like, 'I'm gonna tell your parents about this', she would like totally flip out and start crying like, 'please don't tell'." (Full article here.)

Islam must be demonized here. Islam is responsible for these cold blooded murders. Islam rewards such actions. They cover for the murderers. Where is the father and who is hiding him?

Why isn't Oprah running a series on their treatment of women? The average Oprah-watchin' American woman would care. Deeply.  At present, people don't care because it's another country and culture and "we can't tell them what to do" but this is America, baby. They were killed for being typical American teens and this should be huge.

  A Canadian man has been charged with murdering his own daughter, and her friends say the two clashed over her refusal to wear a Muslim head scarf. Police have not commented on a motive. Aqsa Parvez, 16, of Mississauga, Ontario, was rushed to hospital in critical condition Monday after a man made an emergency call in which he claimed to have killed his daughter, police said. She died late Monday night.

Woman Caught with Bomb Under Burqa

Afghan intelligence agents said Monday they had detained a woman hiding a bomb-filled waistcoat of the type used in Taliban suicide attacks under her all-covering burqa.

The 55-year-old woman was followed from the eastern province of Kunar after a tip-off and arrested in the town of Jalalabad, an official in Kunar’s intelligence department told AFP.

“She was carrying the suicide waistcoat for the Taliban. We had intelligence reports that she was working for the Taliban,” said the official, who asked not to be identified by name.

The woman was being questioned “to find out more about her network,” he said.

Most Afghan women still wear the burqa, which was mandatory under the 1996-2001 Taliban government, and cannot be searched by men at security checkposts.

A Hamas-sympathizing juror may have misled U.S. prosecutors about his neutrality during jury selection in the nation's largest terror-financing trial, investigators familiar with the case say.

The juror's "browbeating" of fellow jurors during deliberations in the Holy Land Foundation trial led to a mistrial, they say. The Dallas-based charity and its leaders are accused of funneling more than $12 million to Hamas suicide bombers and their families.

WND has learned that prosecutors, who are preparing to retry the case next year, considered investigating the juror for perjury after hearing complaints from other jurors about his pro-Hamas, anti-Israeli bias and obscenity-laced bullying in the jury room.

"One guy caused all the trouble," said an investigator involved in the case, which charged several U.S. Muslims with conspiracy to support terrorism. "He browbeat other jurors favoring convictions."

He said the bearded 33-year-old juror – who voted not guilty across-the-board – made statements in the past that are at variance with his answers to prosecutors' questions about his bias during the jury selection.

"He clearly wasn't honest on his voir dire examination," the source said.

Voir dire is a pretrial process lawyers use to object to prospective jurors with strong opinions – in this case, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict – which might preclude them from weighing the evidence objectively.

Juror William Neal, a Dallas graphic artist, has not tried to hide his opinions on the subject since a mistrial was declared Oct. 22.

His ideological remarks in the media – including suggestions Israeli intelligence officers can't be trusted and their government is guilty of occupying Palestinian lands and oppressing the Palestinian people – have raised alarms at the Justice Department.

Neal also has a hard time calling Hamas a terrorist group, even though the U.S. government has listed it as a terrorist organization for the past dozen years.

He told the Dallas Morning News "it's a political movement. It's an uprising."

Asked by the Investigative Project on Terrorism to clarify his statement about Hamas, Neal said: "It is marked as a terrorist organization. My personal viewpoint, I see it as a political struggle."

"Our country was founded on a terrorist act," he added. "The Boston Tea Party wasn't a tea party, dude. It was a rebellion against the king's wrath. They fought back against an oppressive government."

Terror expert Steven Emerson of the IPT features a video clip of one juror who said, "I was pressured into voting the way they wanted me to vote."

In a recent Dallas radio interview, Neal revealed he actively sought a seat on the jury to sway the verdict against the government. He boasted that he fooled federal prosecutors into believing he would be sympathetic to their case.

North Korea may have given arms to Lebanon's Hizbullah and Sri Lanka's Tamil Tigers, according to a report compiled for Congress that could complicate US plans to drop Pyongyang from its terrorism blacklist.

The report obtained on Wednesday by Reuters was written by the Congressional Research Service (CRS), which provides independent analysis to Congress, and cited "reputable sources" as saying Pyongyang had given arms and possibly training to the militant groups, which Washington regards as "terrorist" organizations.

As part of a deal to get Pyongyang to give up its pursuit of nuclear weapons, Washington has dangled the possibility of removing North Korea from its list of state sponsors of terrorism if it fully discloses its nuclear programs.

North Korea, which conducted a nuclear test in 2006, has agreed to provide a "complete and correct" declaration of these programs by the end of the year, although analysts say there is considerable uncertainty whether it will meet the deadline.

L.A. Police Shelves Controversial Plan to Map Muslim Neighborhoods FOX News

LOS ANGELES  —  A police plan to map out Muslim communities, a proposal that civil rights groups sharply criticized as racial and religious profiling, has been shelved, a police spokeswoman said Wednesday.

The LAPD planned to have its counterterrorism bureau identify Muslim enclaves to determine which might be likely to become isolated and susceptible to "violent, ideologically based extremism."

Several Muslim groups and the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California criticized the plan and sent a letter to Deputy Chief Michael P. Downing expressing their concerns.

"There was a clear message from the Muslim community that they were not comfortable with it. So we listened," said Mary Grady, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department. She couldn't immediately say when the plan might resume.

Grady said the remaining part of the initiative, which includes outreach efforts to strengthen ties with Muslim communities, would continue, and police planned to meet with Muslim leaders Thursday.

CAIRO — The United States has resumed contacts with Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood despite Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's 2005 commitment not to "engage" with the banned group — a move that could strain relations with President Hosni Mubarak's government.

U.S. Embassy officials said they are acting in conformity with a worldwide policy of dealing with political parties that are represented in their national parliaments. In a letter responding to a request from US senators, MK Yuval Steinitz, chairman of the Knesset Subcommittee on Defense Readiness and Combating Terrorism, has done his nation a service by outlining Egypt's complicity in Hamas's weapons and training buildup in Gaza. We are watching the folly of Hizbullah's pre-war build-up in Lebanon repeat itself, this time under the blind eye of a neighboring state that claims to be committed to the peace process.

Steinitz's letter to the senators reveals that, according to Israeli intelligence, Gaza's Hamas overlords are "absorbing, on an annual basis, approximately: 20,000 rifles, 6,000 antitank missiles (mainly RPG's), 100 tons of explosives, and several dozens of Katyusha rockets, as well as shoulder-held anti-aircraft missiles."

Since Hamas's violent expulsion of Fatah from Gaza five months ago, Hamas has been sending "large groups of operatives" for military training in Iran. Steinitz reports further that "in late September, a group of 100 operatives who completed their exercises in Iran was permitted to cross the border back into Gaza, despite strong Israeli protests."

While Egypt makes a show of finding a smuggling tunnel from time to time, this is "an insult to the intelligence," he states. If Egypt really wanted to stop the smuggling, it would "erect a number of roadblocks along the very few roads that run from mainland Egypt to the Gaza region, in order to intercept heavily loaded trucks carrying hundreds of rifles and missiles from reaching the border," Steinitz writes. "Alternatively, they can declare the border area a closed military zone, with a depth of 2-3 miles into the interior of Sinai, and prevent any movement in it. Since the entire length of the Egyptian-Gaza border is less then 9 miles, the area affected will be equivalent in size to a military air base.

When Mir asked bin Laden where he obtained such weapons, the al Qaeda leader said: "It is not difficult [to acquire such weapons], not if you have contacts in the Russian underworld."

The Global Islamic Media Front report goes on to say that al Qaeda, prior to 9/11, had commissioned an Egyptian scientist to prepare its arsenal of nuclear weapons--obtained from arms dealers, such as Semion Mogilevich of the Ukraine and black-market sources in Russia, Chechnya, China, Kazakhstan, Iran, and Sudan. This scientist, according to the Front, "tested exploding a miniature nuclear bomb and caused a huge, tremendous explosion which made the leaders of the mujahadeen very happy. Sunday the 21th October was not only a severe attack on freedom of speech but an attempt to close the mouth forever on an organisation who stands up for freedom, freedom of speech and for democracy. Small details were the reason why it didn’t ended up with murder like in Holland, on one of the brave advocate’s for freedom of expression who dare to stand in the frontline.

On sunday the 21th October SIOE Denmark had announced a demonstration in Copenhagen. Read previous post. Before the demo Anders Gravers (SIOE and SIAD) and 2 other members were driving in a van with three seats in the front, following the security car, where an elderly woman, 74 years, (foto) and member of SIAD and another SIAD member were passengers.

Anders was driving and followed the security car down in a parking cellar to park so the cars would be in a secure place before the demo.
He drove very slowly down because apperently there was very little space in the hight for the van. The driveway is very steep and is divided by concrete pillars. Because of the delaying, the driver of the security car got out of his car to open the metalgate again because it was closing after 30 sek. so we could enter the cellar. He directed the van forwards close along the pillars and directly in front of a big concrete pillar supporting the cellar roof.

2-5 sek. after there was a loud bang and the frontwindow was damaged. About two autonomous looking types were in the front and two on ecah sites smashing the site windows shouting Get him out get him out! and started hitting Anders and the SIAD passenger in the other site with ironbars. The SIAD member in the middle (foto) was hit of a thrown filled soda bottle in her backhead.

Anders succeded after a while to kick one of the autonomous hard in the face as he leaned in to unlock the door. Anders mananged to get out with a fire extinguisher from the van and hit another one hard on the shoulder. It remained later that they attemted to stab him down when there was found cut holes in the shirt, jacket and vest. Anders was wearing his securityvest which saved his life.

Suddenly they disappeared and Anders got around the van and saw a SIAD member (foto top) lying on the floor while he was beaten in the head of 4-5 persons with ironbars. Apperently they also tried to stab him down, but again he also wore his security vest which saved his life.

Meanwhile, you have to have it to the Danes. They have enormous cujones.

Syrian Confirms Israel Destroyed Nuclear Facility INN

(IsraelNN.com) A Syrian official has now admitted that the Israeli operation on September 6 destroyed a nuclear facility.

A Syrian representative said Tuesday at the United Nations that reports that the target was a nuclear device were accurate.  Syrian officials, including President Bashar Assad had previously claimed that Israel attacked an abandoned army base or an agricultural facility.

During a meeting of the UN Disarmament Commission, the Syrian representative acknowledged that the target had been the nuclear facility. Israeli Foreign Ministry officials were also attending. He accused Israel of aggression for targeting the facility.

RICHMOND, Va. — A member of the state's Commission of Immigration resigned Thursday, a few hours after Gov. Timothy M. Kaine was told about online videos showing the appointee condemning Israel and advocating "the jihad way."

Kaine issued a statement saying he had accepted the resignation of Dr. Esam S. Omeish. He said Omeish offered to resign because he didn't want anything to distract the work of the commission.

In a video that appears on YouTube, Omeish, who is president of the Muslim American Society and chief of the division of general surgery at INOVA Alexandria Hospital, is shown at an August 2006 rally in Washington denouncing an invasion of Lebanon by the "Israeli war machine."

Omeish also accuses Israel of genocide and massacres against Palestinians and said the "Israeli agenda" controls Congress.

In a separate, undated video, Omeish tells a crowd of Washington-area Muslims: "...you have learned the way, that you have known that the jihad way is the way to liberate your land." That video was credited to Investigative Project, a Washington-based organization that investigates radical Islamic organizations.

A caller to Kaine's program on WRVA radio in Richmond asked the governor Thursday morning about the Omeish appointment and the video.

"That is news to me, what you say, and it's something we will check out," Kaine told the caller, identified on the air only by the name Kent.

Kaine spokesman Kevin Hall said the governor tried to call Omeish afterward and also watched the videos. In the statement released later Thursday, Kaine said he was concerned by what he heard on the videos.

Mahdi Bray , a spokesman for the MAS, said Omeish was not available for comment.

Omeish was among 10 appointments Kaine made on Aug. 2 to a 20-member panel created this year by the General Assembly to assess the benefits and costs of immigration and the effects on federal immigration policies on the state. The commission met in Richmond for the first time Tuesday.

Venezuela (AP) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez threatened on Monday to close or take over any private school that refuses to submit to the oversight of his socialist government as it develops a new curriculum and textbooks.

"Society cannot allow the private sector to do whatever it wants," said Chavez, speaking on the first day of classes.

All schools, public and private, must admit state inspectors and submit to the government's new educational system, or be closed and nationalized, with the state taking responsibility for the education of their children, Chavez said.

A new curriculum will be ready by the end of this school year, and new textbooks are being developed to help educate "the new citizen," said Chavez's brother and education minister Adan Chavez, who joined him a televised ceremony at the opening of a public school in the eastern town of El Tigre.

The president's opponents accuse him of aiming to indoctrinate young Venezuelans with socialist ideology. But the education minister said the aim is to develop "critical thinking," not to impose a single way of thought.

Islamist Website Hosted in Minnesota Features Discussion on How to Attack U.S. Military Bases MEMRI

On September 3, 2007, the Islamist website www.ekhlaas.cc, which is hosted by SiteGenie LLC in Rochester, Minnesota, featured a discussion on ways to attack U.S. military bases. The discussion, which took place on a forum on the website, focused mainly on bases located in open terrain, e.g., in the desert, which the forum participants characterized as particularly difficult to approach without being detected. Some of the postings were accompanied by diagrams of military bases showing various plans and angles of attack (as in the image below).

The following are excerpts from one of the postings: [1]

"A [military] base located in the [open] desert is more difficult to attack than one located on a mountain... [or] in a city... because a base [located] inside a city is surrounded by many buildings that the mujahideen can utilize... In the desert... on the other hand... there is no place to hide... How then can one attack such a base, especially considering that these bases... are protected by ordinary, thermal and infrared cameras?... Another point to consider is that [bases are surrounded] by an exposed space that is [constantly] watched... Anyone entering [this area] is immediately asked for an... entry code and password... and if the invader ignores the requests [to identify himself]... and continues to approach, the guards... take position and wait... If the invader enters the inner domain [i.e., the base itself], they immediately open fire... If he stops before entering the base... he may be taken for questioning, and information may be extracted from him by force. [In some cases] this peripheral zone is monitored by radar..."

"Furthermore, when the enemies of God set up a base or a checkpoint, they identify the various locations [overlooking the base] from which long-range or short-range mortars can be fired [at them]... [Then] they cover these locations with mortar[-launchers of their own]... If a mujahid shells the base, the enemies of God... fire indiscriminately at all these locations simultaneously."

"Furthermore... bases... are not surrounded by a wall, but by a fence topped with barbed wire. The buildings [inside the base]... are built far from the fence. The space separating the buildings from the fence is equal to two streets in breadth... Some bases are [also] surrounded by a minefield, and all have several watch towers."

"It is important to have a clear idea of the purpose of the operation. We must ask ourselves... why we are attacking this [particular] base. Obviously [we are attacking it]... because it is an enemy base... [but we must identify] the exact target we want to hit once we penetrate the [perimeter] fences... [We must also determine whether the goal is] to penetrate the base headquarters in order to seize documents... or to capture a high rank commander... free prisoners... capture ammunition... or seize vehicles.

NAIT, a subsidiary of ISNA, holds the deeds to more than 25% of the mosques and Islamic centers around the U.S. What NAIT does not control, it attempts to acquire, even against the wishes of the mosque’s membership (free registration required) and sometimes by force.

The Justice Department is co-sponsoring a convention held by the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) — an unindicted co-conspirator in an ongoing federal terrorist funding case — a move that is raising concerns among the Justice's rank and file.

Justice lawyers have objected to the affiliation with ISNA, fearing it will undermine the case against the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development in Dallas.

"There is outrage among lawyers that the Department of Justice is funding a group named as a co-conspirator in a terrorist financing case," said a Justice lawyer who spoke to The Washington Times on the condition of anonymity.

According to an e-mail from Susana Lorenzo-Giguere, acting deputy chief of the Voting Rights Division, the sponsorship will involve sending government lawyers to man a booth for the Labor Day weekend event in Illinois.

"This is an important outreach opportunity, and a chance to reach a community that is at once very much discriminated against, and very wary of the national government and its willingness to protect them," Mrs. Lorenzo-Giguere said in an e-mail obtained by The Washington Times.

"It would be a great step forward to break through those barriers. And Chicago is lovely this time of year," Mrs. Lorenzo-Giguere said.]

ISNA is one of more than 300 unindicted co-conspirators in a case against the Holy Land Foundation, whose top officers are accused of raising money for Hamas.

Justice spokesman Erik Ablin said the agency participates in the annual convention to educate Muslims about their civil rights.
