Our Austrian correspondent ESW sends her translation of an article from the website “Die Jüdische” (very roughly translated as “Everything Jewish”) concerning the recent demonstration in Vienna by a Hamas-supporting Austrian Muslim organization.
Austrian Muslim Association sympathizing with racist Hamas
If this had been a demonstration organized by racist and terrorist Hamas, attended by the Liga Kultur [according to its website “an association to further integration and cultural exchange”, in the name of Allah, of course] and the Gesellschaft für Österreichisch-Arabische Beziehungen [Society for Austro-Arab Relations] as well as by anti-imperialist sects sympathizing with Holocaust deniers, this would not have been worth a single comment.
But because the Austrian Muslim Association (IGGiÖ) staged this demonstration — “Keep Gaza Alive” — on Saturday afternoon [January 26, 2008], a comment is in fact called for, especially in light of the fact that it was unsuccessful enough for the mainstream media to completely ignore it.
Why does the IGGiÖ choose to publicize a “peace demonstration” with the slogan “Keep Gaza Alive” when the entire world is witness to thousands of Gazans flooding into Egypt buying everything from food to camels? The IGGiÖ obviously does not care about the people in Gaza; they care more about supporting their like-minded and racist Hamas brothers.
The Austrian Muslim Association pretends moderation, yet it shows its sympathies with the racist group Hamas. IGGiÖ’s leaders are therefore — despite all the denials — either members of the Muslim Brotherhood, or at least close to them. Many Austrians are unaware of the fact that Hamas emerged out of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood.

It is beyond comprehension that the Austrian Muslim Association, although democratically not legitimized, has been accepted as the sole representative of Muslims in Austria. It is probably no coincidence that internationally wanted fundraisers were put on invitation lists by the IGGiÖ for iftar dinners sponsored by the Austrian President and the mayor of Vienna.
One of the Austrian Muslim Association’s hypocritical claims is “putting pressure on Israel in order to end military attacks on the Gaza strip immediately”. These men are mixing up cause and effect, of course uncoincidentally, because if the Hamas stopped collectively penalizing Israeli civilians in Sderot and other Israeli towns, there would be no Israeli attacks on terrorists in Gaza.
The Social Democrats in Vienna have published a flyer with the following message: “Vienna is safe from religious and social conflicts because they are not dealt with in a violent way, but rather in a democratic, civilized way, by adhering to the rule of law.”

(IsraelNN.com) A British taxpayers advocacy group has published a report slamming England’s continued funding of the Palestinian Authority’s Jihadist hate curriculum in PA school textbooks.
“How British taxpayers are funding hate education and violence in the Middle East,” was the title of the paper published by the TaxPayers' Alliance. “'Funding Hate Education' reveals disturbing evidence showing how British taxpayers’ money has been spent helping to fund hate education and promote violence in the Middle East,” the report states (Click here to download full report in .pdf format).
“In order for a [peace] deal to stick over the long term, it is essential that the Palestinian population fully accepts it,” said Matthew Sinclair, the author of the report and a policy analyst at the TaxPayers’ Alliance. “This is why it is particularly concerning that British aid is supporting the radicalization of the Palestinian population, particularly the children… British taxpayers’ money is supporting the radicalization of Palestinian youth and hurting our objectives in the region. This needs to, and can, change.”
According to the report, the £47.5 million of British aid to the PA is supporting:
* Textbooks praising insurgents in Iraq, arguing for the execution of apostates and the idealization of martyrdom.
* Television broadcasts aimed at children that urge violence against non-Muslims and promote the view that Israel should not exist.

Sarkozy, a taboo-breaker whose whirlwind love life has distracted the media for weeks, broke with traditional presidential reserve about religion to stress France's Christian roots in a speech in a Rome basilica just before Christmas.
In Riyadh on Monday, he hailed Islam as "one of the greatest and most beautiful civilisations the world has known" and described his Saudi hosts as rulers who "appeal to the basic values of Islam to combat the fundamentalism that negates them".
His praise for a kingdom that enforces and propagates a strict version of Islam, during a visit aimed at securing lucrative export contracts, was the last straw for his critics.

Dutch government ready for fallout over planned anti-Islam film hat tip Rut
THE HAGUE (AFP) - The Dutch government is ready for any possible fallout of a planned film by far-right MP Geert Wilders that attacks Islam as an "inspiration for murder," Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende said Friday.
"We are ready to react quickly, it is our role to be prepared for calamities," Balkenende told journalists at his weekly press briefing.
Earlier on Friday Dutch media had reported that the government had compiled a secret document on how best to deal with reactions to the film.
Wilders, the head of the far-right Freedom Party, announced in November that he planned to release a 10-minute film this month that will show that Islam's holy book, the Koran, "is an inspiration for intolerance, murder and terror".
Observers say Wilders might burn or tear up the Koran in the movie. In February last year the MP called on Muslims to "tear out half the pages of the Koran and throw them away".
The Hague fears a repeat of riots when thousands took to the streets in Muslim countries to protest cartoons of the prophet Mohammed that appeared in a Danish newspaper in 2005.
The protests left some hundred people dead, Danish embassies were attacked and Danish goods were boycotted.
Balkenende said he could not comment on Wilders's film project because he had not seen the actual movie but stressed the government would not censor anything beforehand.
"The Netherlands has a tradition of freedom of expression and freedom of religion but also a tradition of mutual respect, and provocations do not fit into that. I call on everybody to take their individual responsibility," he said.
Freedom of speech is a "provocation". Truth is a provocation.
According to the De Volkskrant newspaper and RTL-news, the government has already prepared for a possible evacuation of Dutch embassies and citizens from the Middle East.

Ministers have adopted a new language for declarations on Islamic terrorism.
In future, fanatics will be referred to as pursuing "anti-Islamic activity".
Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said that extremists were behaving contrary to their faith, rather than acting in the name of Islam.
Uh, according to the Koran they were behaving like devout Muslims, Jacqui. Me thinks Jacqui has not read the Koran. Perhaps this crash course on Koran on the would do Jacqui and the whole of the British government a world of good.
Security officials believe that directly linking terrorism to Islam is inflammatory, and risks alienating mainstream Muslim opinion.
The stench of the irony burns me nostrils.

In their infinite wisdom, the European Parliament invited the Grand Mufti of Syria, Ahmad Badr Al-Din Hassoun, to deliver a speech. Supposedly, he's the first in a series of 'eminent religious and cultural leaders' to address the Toy Parliament in this, the EUnions 'Year of Intercultural Dialogue'. Naturally, the EP itself was gushing with praise and goodwill towards the Grand Mufti:
In a speech to MEPs on Tuesday on the subject of intercultural dialogue, the Grand Mufti of Syria, Ahmad Badr Al-Din Hassoun, stressed the value of culture as a unifying rather than a dividing force. Dr Hassoun was addressing a formal sitting of Parliament as the first speaker in a series of visits by eminent religious and cultural leaders in 2008, which has been designated European Year of Intercultural Dialogue.
Opening his address, the Grand Mufti stressed that "there is one single culture" in the world, the culture of humankind. Indeed, he said, "we are all building one culture, so I do not believe in the conflict of cultures".
If a clash did exist, this was "a conflict with ignorance, terrorism and backwardness". Stressing the universality of culture, he said that the Soviet and American space agencies, in sending men to the moon, had built on the civilisation founded by Europeans before them. In addition, "those who built the pyramids are among our grandfathers". These examples showed that "civilisation is one".
The Grand Mufti denied there is such a thing as "Holy war", telling the gathered MEPs that there is only "Holy Peace". However, completely missing from the EU's own reporting was the warning Dr. Hassoun has for the Netherlands (NL):
Should it come to riots, bloodshed and violence after broadcating the Quran movie by PVV-leader Geert Wilders, then Wilders will be responsible.
This was said by the Grand Mufti of Syria, Ahmad Badr Al-Din Hassoun, Tuesday in teh European Parliament, where he gave a speech at the invitation of the fraction presidents.
If Wilders tears up or burn a Quran in his film 'this will simply mean he is inciting wars and bloodshed. And he will be responsible', according to te Grand Mufti.
Al Hassoun thinks it is 'the responsibility of the Dutch people to stop Wilders'.
Which comes down to a case of blackmail against the Netherlands, in direct contradiction to the 'peaceful' nature of the Grand Mufti's speech as reported by the EP's own site, doesn't?

The blogger TomaShot, who operated the now defunct UUTISIA SUOMESTA website, acatalogue for various news stories and articles that dealt with immigration, Political Correctness and other Eurabia related issues, was dealt a serious blow by Finland's judicial system today.
He was fined 825 € and ordered to close down his website. Over at Jussi Hallo-aho's website, Scripta, I found out the following details:

As far as I know, TomaShot's webpages contained very little of his own material, it was more of a repository for news articles and blog posts from all over Finland --including the Tundra Tabloids-- and from outside of Finland as well. According to the blogger --with whom I will shortly be in contact with-- he was convicted for republishing snippets of posts and articles of stories the courts deemed unflattering towards minorities.Tuusola circuit court found me guilty today of incitement against a national group. My verdict was a 825 € fine and all of my web pages were ordered to be closed down. Even though I insisted that my pages which were part of the factually based "News From Finland", which publishes news concerning crimes committed by immigrants, and should be spared, but they were also judged to be closed down as well.
The verdict financially, was exceptionally harsh, nor do individuals with families have the money to spare for such a thing. According to the directive, I am to keep my web pages permanently closed. During the trial, I was left with the feeling that everything had already been judged before hand.I believe that I explained my case and my position in a reasonable and acceptable manner, for which I was slapped with a verdict based on such a weak charge, just because I dared to be of a different opinion by bringing the stark realism of multicultualism for all to see.
But my case has now become just one of these "example cases" by which the voice of truth is silenced.

David Davis, the shadow home secretary, said that the poll results showed a widespread feeling that the Government had failed. “This demonstrates that the Government’s actions, both to control immigration and to advance integration, are believed to have failed by the vast majority of the population,” he said.
Church leaders in communities with large concentrations of Muslims said that Christians were being targeted. An east London vicar who had delivered Christmas leaflets in his parish said he was told to stay away from “Muslim areas”. He said: “Despite this being a mixed area, where Muslims make up only about 15 per cent of the population, I was told that the leaflets were offensive and could make people angry.”
Another churchman said his path had been blocked by Muslim youths as he drove through a district of Oldham, Lancashire, last year. “They wanted to know why I was coming into ‘their’ area,” he said.
A priest ministering in the Manchester district of Rusholme said he knew of “dozens of cases” in which Muslim converts to Christianity had been attacked. Another church leader said that Asian Christians in Leicester feared being identified when leaving churches.“They are scared of being stopped and beaten up if they are found carrying Bibles,” he said.
: None of the church leaders we spoke to wished to be identified for fear of retaliation, but Don Horrocks, of the Evangelical Alliance, said: “It’s increasingly difficult for non-Muslims to live in areas of high Muslim density, especially if they are practising Christians.”

“Revival” of Koranic Research?
Ms. Neuwirth, a professor of Arabic studies at Berlin’s Free University, now is overseeing a revival of the research. The project renews a grand tradition of German Quranic scholarship that was interrupted by the Third Reich.
The Nazis purged Jewish experts on ancient Arabic texts and compelled Aryan colleagues to serve the war effort. Middle East scholars worked as intelligence officers, interrogators and linguists. Mr. Spitaler himself served, apparently as a translator, in the German-Arab Infantry Battalion 845, a unit of Arab volunteers to the Nazi cause, according to wartime records.
Ibn Warraq just told me that Neuwirth has DENIED serious scholars access to this material for 20 years. Warraq wrote the following on p. 743, note 1, in “What The Koran Really Says,” 2002, : Angelika Neuwirth has given the impression in her GAP (Grundrib der Arabischen Philolgie. Band II: Lietraturwis-senschaft, hrsg., von Helmut Gatje, 1987), article “Koran,” p. 112, footnote 3, that it was the photographs taken in order to build up the “Koran Archiv” in Munich which were destroyed at the end of World War II. This impression is false, and thus it is an amazing fact that evidently no attempt has been made since to study the photographs! Regardless, even Ms. Neuwirth now admits to the obvious dangers inherent in any objective scholarly research of the Koran’s origins born of an Islamic fanaticism still very evident in our era: This is a taboo zone.

BERLIN (AP) — A German businessman who printed the name of the Quran on toilet paper and offered the rolls for sale to mosques and media will face trial for disturbing the [religion of -atlas]peace.
The man, identified only as Manfred van H., is scheduled to go on trial Feb. 23 at a court in Luedinghausen in western Germany, Jochen Dyhr, a spokesman for judicial authorities in nearby Muenster, said Thursday.
The businessman last summer printed sheets of toilet paper with the sentence "Koran, the Holy Qur'aen" and sent them to about 15 mosques, television stations and magazines.
In an accompanying letter, authorities say, he asserted that Islam's holy book is a "cookbook for terrorists" that calls for acts of violence

Bishop warns of no-go zones for non-Muslims By Jonathan Wynne-Jones and Robyn Powell, Telegraph
Islamic extremists have created "no-go" areas across Britain where it is too dangerous for non-Muslims to enter, one of the Church of England's most senior bishops warns today.

His comments come as a poll of the General Synod - the Church's parliament - shows that its senior leaders, including bishops, also believe that Britain is being damaged by large-scale immigration.
Bishop Nazir-Ali, who was born in Pakistan, gives warning that attempts are being made to give Britain an increasingly Islamic character by introducing the call to prayer and wider use of sharia law, a legal system based on the Koran.
In an attack on the Government's response to immigration and the influx of "people of other faiths to these shores", he blames its "novel philosophy of multiculturalism" for allowing society to become deeply divided, and accuses ministers of lacking a "moral and spiritual vision".
Echoing Trevor Phillips, the chairman of the Commission for Equalities and Human Rights, who has said that the country is "sleepwalking into segregation", the bishop argues that multiculturalism has led to deep divisions.
David Davis, the shadow home secretary, has accused Muslims of promoting a kind of "voluntary apartheid" by shutting themselves in closed societies and demanding immunity from criticism.
In the Synod survey, to be published this week, bishops, senior clergy and influential churchgoers said that an increasingly multi-faith society threatens the country's Christian heritage and blamed the divisions on the Government's failure to integrate immigrants into their communities.
It found that more than one in three believe that a mass influx of people of other faiths is diluting the Christian nature of Britain and only a quarter feel that they have been integrated into society.
The overwhelming majority - 80 per cent - said that the Government has not upheld the place of religion in public life and up to 63 per cent fear that the Church will be disestablished within a generation, breaking a bond that has existed between the Church and State since the Reformation.
Calls for disestablishment have grown following research showing that attendance at Mass has overtaken the number of worshippers at Church of England Sunday services.
Bishop Nazir-Ali, whose father converted from Islam to Catholicism, was criticised by Ibrahim Mogra, of the Muslim Council of Britain. He said: "It's irresponsible for a man of his position to make these comments.
"He should accept that Britain is a multicultural society in which we are free to follow our religion at the same time as being extremely proud to be British. We wouldn't allow 'no-go' areas to happen. I smell extreme intolerance when people criticise multiculturalism without proper evidence of what has gone wrong."

The Rt Rev Nicholas Reade, the Bishop of Blackburn, which has a large Muslim community, said that it was increasingly difficult for Christians to share their faith in areas where there was a high proportion of immigrants of other faiths.
He believes that increasing pressure will be put on the Government to begin the process of disestablishment and end the preferential status given to the Church of England. "The writing is on the wall," he said.
Gordon Brown relinquished Downing Street's involvement in appointing bishops in one of his first facts as Prime Minister - a move viewed by some as a significant step towards disestablishment.

The girl is 15 years old but looks much younger. Her face has the fine-boned elegance typical of her native Somalia, but her accent belongs to the streets of East London. She is plainly terrified. That much is clear from the way she avoids eye contact and constantly fidgets in her chair.
"Promise you won't print my name or anything?" she implores repeatedly. "Promise no one will ever know that I've spoken to you? If people in my community find out, they'll say that I've betrayed them and I'll have to run away. And anyway, I don't want my parents to be sent to jail."
With great courage, this British-Somali girl - she asks that we call her "Lali" - is about to describe a barbaric act of ritualised cruelty which has been perpetrated against her. Knowing the danger to which she is exposing herself, her anxiety is entirely understandable.
For by speaking about it, Lali will break the ultimate taboo among Britain's 600,000 ethnic Africans. In Norway, where this brutal act is also prevalent, a young Somali woman was recently beaten, almost to death, for talking to TV documentary programme-makers.

Italian Soccer Team Adopts Hizbullah's Logo to "Boost Fighting Spirit"

SACKED FOR SHEEP SEX PRANK The Sun hat tip Liam
TWO British oil workers have been sacked after simulating sex with sheep due to be slaughtered for a Muslim festival. The animals were being killed for 30 foreign workers to celebrate Eid Al Adhha in the Algerian oil town Hassi Messaoud.
The men, who have not been named, were reported by stunned restaurant workers and guards — then sacked by their employer, US industrial giant Schlumberger.
They were accused of “sheep violation”.
A spokesman for the company — which provides services to oil firms — said: “The individuals have been dismissed because their behaviour was totally unacceptable.”
Meanwhile a police spokesman warned that local Muslims saw the sacrificing of sheep at Eid as “some- thing very sacred”.
One ex-pat living in Algeria told The Sun: “If you relate this to teacher Gillian Gibbons they can thank their lucky stars.
“All she did was name a teddy bear Mohammed.”
It seems it may very well be that the EU was not directly smuggling the chemical explosives into Gaza but there had to be some complicity there. An inside job of sorts. No, it was - SHOCKA! - Bush's partner in peace, the Pali Arabs. Give 'em a state and 7.4 billion and aid, explosives, munitions, and the respect of the international communitay!

So here is part 1 of the nifty little story, as published in the Jerusalem Post. Yesterday the Israeli announced that the IDF and Shin Bet had found “6.5 tons of potassium nitrate hidden in sacks that were disguised as aid from the European Union”. If we go by the picture, it was disguised as sugar but, clearly, something alerted the Israeli security services.
Potassium nitrate is banned in Gaza for obvious reasons. Oh all right, I shall spell it out. There is this rather unpleasant prejudice in Israel about terrorists in Gaza or, for that matter, the West Bank using the chemical for the manufacture of explosives.
The statement was very cautious about the EU:This is another example of how the terror organizations exploit the humanitarian aid that is delivered to the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip with Israel's approval.
24 hours later the EU denied everything. But before everybody choruses the words “Well, they would, wouldn’t they?” let us have a look at their argument.
The EU official, however, said that the bags could not be confused with bona fide EU aid for a number of reasons, including that the EU does not export sugar as part of aid to the Palestinians, and that food assistance to the PA - funneled through UNRWA or the World Food Program - clearly carries the 12-star symbol of the EU and the name of the European Commission on the bags.
Undoubtedly that is true. One cannot imagine that there might be a situation in which the EU omits the flaunting of those stars. There will be a lot more of it, as the EU is pledging another $650 million of aid in 2008. We wrote about all those fruit machine numbers here.
The question does remain as to who decided to use those carefully if erroneously printed bags for the transportation of potassium nitrate instead of sugar. There is some comfort to be taken from the fact that the bags were printed wrongly and the people who were trying to smuggle the chemicals through (or possibly into) the West Bank are a tad careless over certain details.
A little less comfort is to be taken from the surmise that somebody somewhere in the vast EU aid giving machine must have passed a certain amount of information on as to when and where sugar was going to be taken through (or possibly into) the West Bank.
Looking at it from another point of view, one cannot help wondering what other findings the Israeli security services will announce before President Bush’s forthcoming and probably completely pointless visit to the region.
When will the West wake up? We shackle ourselves, silence ourselves, silence the world community, call it defamation when truth is spoken of Islam, we harass little blue haired ladies at airports, all to pave the road to Mecca. We turn ourselves inside out so as not to insult our executioners. Canceling New Years in Belgium .......... if that don't beat all.
I am ashamed of the West. Ashamed of our reluctance to stand up for ourselves. Where is our pride? When are we growing to grow a set?

NO BRUSSELS FIREWORKS AMID ISLAMIC TERROR THREAT Reuters hat tip Rut
BRUSSELS, Belgium - Traditional New Year's Eve fireworks in central Brussels have been canceled due to a continuing terror threat in the Belgian capital, officials said Sunday.
The inmate, Nizar Trabelsi, 37, is a Tunisian ex-professional soccer player who is serving 10 years for plotting to drive a car bomb into the cafeteria of a Belgian air force base housing about 100 U.S. military personnel.
A judge ordered his supporters' release for lack of evidence, and all suspects have maintained their innocence.
Authorities said the city would maintain heightened security measures until at least Jan. 3.

The Brussels administration admits officially that each year some 550,000 immigrants from Africa, the Middle East and China, plus South America, enter the European Union. In reality the figure is twice that, in other words, more than a million.

In Germany there are 4 million Turks, and new arrivals every day. One German told me that Islamist Turks feel more at ease practicing their religious activities in Germany than in Muslim Turkey.
In Great Britain, 50 powerful Muslim associations control millions of faithful followers, mostly Pakistanis. In the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, beneath the smile of her gracious very Christian Majesty, there are now koranic schools where children can learn to become kamikazes and blow up automobiles.

I might add that there is no common European policy on immigration. Spain and Italy amnestied millions of illegals – a tremendous message for others – without even informing their neighbors.
On the other hand, in the countries of Eastern Europe, there are no immigrants. Why? Because these countries were subjected to communism and are therefore underdeveloped, with no welfare state or free hand-outs, housing, health care or schools.
Some say that one must not exaggerate. The great invasions from the 4th to 7th centuries eventually worked themselves out, didn't they? Great ignorance. We have to realize that these invasions had only a limited effect on the population of nascent France. As a matter of fact, in general, gangs of invaders and vandals, totaling only a few thousand individuals did not settle down in France, except for the Franks to the East. Furthermore, these barbarians quite rapidly converted to Christianity, more precisely to arianism.
It is true that at the time the merovingian monarchy did not distribute to these barbarians welfare of all kinds, declaring: "You are a great opportunity for France. Come, all of you, and join us with your large and beautiful families." No. Back then, people still had common sense.

Christian charity for a future Muslim state in Palestine carries historical significance for the Middle East region. Islam's appearance in the 7th century led to widespread jihad that transformed a primarily Christian region, as in Egypt, Syria and Palestine, into Muslim territory that has remained its religious hallmark until today. Christian decline in Iraq and Syria, persecution of Copts in Egypt and the danger of Lebanon losing its Christian character, touch the core of the aggressive expansion of Islam at the expense of Oriental Christianity.

In Paris, following traditions based in EU headquarters in Brussels and in State Department circles in Washington, the West ignored the woes of Christian plight and Jewish anxiety in the Middle East.
Would the Muslims support the establishment of a Christian state in Egypt? The answer is a resounding No! The bonds of Muslim solidarity and profound animosity toward Christians would never tolerate support for dhimmis at the expense of Muslim domination and expansion.
But the Christian West operates on a different political trajectory. Christian charity does not begin at home. Western funds do not flow in the billions to support Christian institutions in Lebanon, creating industrial opportunities, purchasing properties for Christian residents, and providing all needs, including military ones, to assure the viability and strength of Lebanon struggling to survive in the stormy Muslim sea of the Middle East.
This is a sad time for the Christian East and a shameful time for the Christian West.

Belgium Releases 14 Terror Suspects aol.news hat tip Daryl
BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) - Belgian authorities on Saturday released 14 suspects detained over an alleged plot to free an al-Qaida prisoner after a court decided there was insufficient evidence to hold them for more than 24 hours, the Federal Prosecutor's office said.
The government's Crisis Center said the investigation was not over. And Lieve Pellens, spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office, said tightened anti-terrorism measures triggered by the arrest of the suspected Islamic militants on Friday would remain in place over the holidays.
"We think there is still a threat," Pellens said in a telephone interview.
Police picked up the 14 suspects in a series of early morning raids Friday. Earlier reports indicated that explosives and arms were also seized, but Pellens said Saturday that searches of the suspects' homes had found no explosives, weapons or other evidence to persuade the court to charge them with any offense or keep them in jail.
Unlike some other European nations, Belgium does not have anti-terrorist laws which allow suspects to be held for longer than 24 hours without charge, Pellens said.
The 14 were expected to remain under police surveillance and could be detained again if more evidence is uncovered. The authorities did not release the suspects' identities.
Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt and the prosecutor's office alleged the suspects planned to use explosives and weapons to free Nizar Trabelsi. The 37-year-old Tunisian was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2003 for planning to a drive a car bomb into the cafeteria of a Belgian air base where about 100 American military personnel are stationed.The U.S. Embassy had warned Americans "there is currently a heightened risk of terrorist attack in Brussels," although it said it had no indication of specific targets.
The government's Crisis Center said the investigation was continuing into other material found in the searches.
"The release of the 14 does not mean the investigation is finished, all the material that was found is being examined," said Alain Lefevre, a director of the center. "Depending on the results, our measures will be adapted."
