As far as the group, "Jews for Palestine" - why not call it by its true name, Jews for the Fourth Reich? Garbageheads. Where, oh where, are the "Muslims for Israel"? (crickets chirping)

Posters on London Underground made no distinction between Israel and occupied territories, sparking hundreds of complaints

The Israel Government Tourism Office is withdrawing a series of posters displayed in London Underground stations featuring a map that treats the occupied territories as part of Israel, after the advertisements were referred to the Advertising Standards Authority.

The yellow map makes no distinction between Israel and the Golan Heights, the West Bank and Gaza.

The Palestinian Solidarity Campaign and Jews for Justice for Palestinians both complained to the ASA as well as to CBS Outdoor, which is responsible for the poster sites, and Transport for London (TfL), which said it received more than 600 complaints.

The poster, which had gone up on 108 sites and was due to go up on another 42 before it was pulled by IGTO, was part of the Think Israel campaign. Last year the ASA upheld a complaint about a magazine advertisement that was part of the same campaign because it implied that Qumran was in the state of Israel when in fact it is in the occupied West Bank. In its judgement, the ASA ruled that the advert should be withdrawn and said it was "concerned by ThinkIsrael.coms [sic] lack of response and apparent disregard for the [committee of advertising practice] code".

An ASA spokesman said it had received 342 complaints about the London Underground posters and it was currently assessing whether there were grounds for an investigation. He said the fact that the posters were being withdrawn would be taken into consideration but did not preclude an investigation.

A TfL spokesman said: "The Israel Ministry of Tourism has requested the removal of an advert that they had placed at selected stations on the Tube network." Neither the Israeli embassy in London or IGTO responded to guardian.co.uk requests for a comment.

Worries about inviting Dutch politician Geert Wilders to Denmark leads to further delays for troubled freedom of speech conference

The government will not be inviting controversial Dutch politician Geert Wilders to Denmark anytime soon.

Conservative MP Naser Khader, previously of Liberal Alliance, secured funding last year for an international freedom of speech conference, which was due to be held in February.

Late last year it was decided to push the conference back until this June and according to information received by Berlingske Tidende newspaper, the conference has been delayed again because of government’s concern over Geert Wilders.

The integration minister, Birthe Rønn Hornbech, has sent out a memo saying that the free speech and anti-radicalisation conference will not be held before the autumn, ‘in spite of intense work and exploration’ that has gone into preparations.

The Danish People’s Party (DF) had wanted Wilders to attend. The politician has been subjected to death threats and banned from entry into Britain due to his outspoken views on Islam.

DF party leader, Pia Kjærsgaard, said she wants a clear answer to the repeatedly delayed meeting and that it is obvious that the conference is an irritation for the government.

According to the newspaper, the Foreign Ministry has expressed concern that if Wilders turns up to the delayed conference in the autumn it could have a negative affect on the climate summit in December. The ministry is apparently worried that Wilders presence could lead to Muslim countries boycotting the climate conference.

What I am hearing is that there are fires burning around London, fairly small fires here and there, like a bus being set on fire, but the media don't seem to have picked this up. Something odd was going on at Birmingham airport today. This airport is just 60 miles from London and I don't know if what was going on was in any way connected to the London conference.

I have only been at my present place of work for around 12 weeks and unlike the students and the rest of the teaching staff, I am still not used to planes flying low over the school on their flight path out. There is usually a plane every couple of minutes on that flight path, right over the school. Well, today, I was sitting outside the premises, having a cigarette (no smoking anywhere on the property!)and I had been there about 10 minutes when I began to wonder what was missing and realised it was quiet. No planes had gone over. Then it hit me that I hadn't heard a plane all morning. Later, I heard planes in the distance. So, I think the flight path had been changed for some reason, but there didn't seem to be many planes at all, at least not close enough to be heard. The school is roughly half a mile from the airport.

So they know. They know Muslims at airports are a hazard. They know.

American-born al-Awlaki has been banned from returning to the US following accusations he acted as a spiritual adviser to three of the 9/11 terrorists.

Last night Shadow Security Minister Pauline Neville-Jones called for the meeting to be banned.

She called al-Awlaki “one of the most prominent English-language supporters of violent jihad”.

Exclusive: Sharia Infiltrates German Courts, Schools, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Once again a German court ruled by referring to Shrai’a (Islamic law), which predominantly incites to denigration of women, hatred, violence.

 

Most recently, Lisa, a German woman (46) married to an Egyptian, called the police seeking protection for herself and her 17-year-old daughter from assaults by her husband. Magdi, Lisa’s husband, threatened to kill their daughter who had been raped by a man. Magdi, a practicing Muslim, believes that his daughter committed “Zena” (adultery). He told his wife that he was always suspicious of his daughter who clandestinely had a German boyfriend. Lisa filed a divorce case against her husband, and requested deporting him.

 

The judge, Matthias Rau, at a court in Hanover, Germany, ruled (January 21, 2009), Lisa had to wait for at least one year before she is legally divorced. Her husband cannot be deported. “He must be re-educated, in hopes he would renounce his Islamic understanding of ‘Zena,’” the judge said.

 

The German judge argued, “Muslims have a different understanding of rape than Europeans, and this must be taken into account.”  

 

In an interview with a German radio, NDR on February 18, 2009, Rau said, “Sharia aligns rape to adultery, Zena, and victims – women – are often punished instead of prosecuting the perpetrators and convict them.”

 

Helmut Wagner, another German judge, this time in Essen, ruled March 2, 2009, Muslim girls in Germany can not be forced to swim in public and learn about the evolution theory at school. The parents of three school girls requested a verdict freeing their daughters from taking part in swimming classes and lessons which teach the evolution theory. Wagner argued, “These things contradict tenets in Islam, the religion of these girls, and hence in light of freedom of religion, the Muslim girls cannot be forced to do or learn things which are incompatible with their religion.”

 

The Attorney General was indignant. He objected to Wagner’s verdict by saying, “How would this judge rule if a Muslim kills someone who commits apostasy. According to the Koran, he must be killed. Would the judge let the perpetrator free?” The Attorney General cites the Koran which says, “If they (Muslims) turn (their) back (to Islam), then seize them and KILL them wherever you find them, and take not from among them a friend or a helper.” (Sura 4, verse 89).

 

The attorney General added, “In Islam, polygamy is permissible. Should also this be sanctioned in Germany for Muslims? It seems to me that some German judges are more royal than the king and more Catholic than the Pope. Some Arab countries use Western legal codes.”

The Obama administration is "comfortable" with the British government's attempts to engage Hizbullah, a senior British diplomat asserts.

Bill Rammell, Britain's minister of state for foreign and Commonwealth affairs, said in a brief interview late last week that despite protests to the contrary, the new US administration doesn't object to the fledgling contacts with the "political win" of the Lebanon-based Shi'ite Muslim group, which also has a heavily armed militia.

Britain likens the attempt to engage Hizbullah, launched quietly this year, to London's outreach to political leaders of the Irish Republican Army earlier - a move that helped quell the Northern Ireland conflict.

Another British diplomat said George W. Bush administration officials harshly criticized the idea of approaching Hizbullah last year. Americans worried "it would be seen as a policy coordinated with the US government," the diplomat said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

In a meeting last week with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem, Rammell also said London was ready to engage with Hamas, if it renounced violence.

"I would like to talk to Hamas, but we need change before engaging in that position," he said at the meeting.

He added that Hizbullah also must reject violence before any dialogue could broaden.

Rammell, who ended a two-day visit to Syria on Thursday, said the West must acknowledge what he described as "positive changes" that have taken place in Lebanon over the last few months, including the formation of a unity government and the appointment of a consensus president supported by US-backed political groups and the Hizbullah-led camp.

"Positive changes" means sanctioning assassins and jihad.

Rammell noted Hizbullah's increased involvement in Lebanon's ordinary political life, with "Hizbullah (lawmakers) sitting side by side with their opponents" in the legislative chamber.

UK Bishop "Atlas" Ali Shrugs, Resigns

I have blogged on this wonderful courageous Bishop in the UK more than once. And to now hear he is resigning is enormously distressing. His honesty and bravery in speaking to the need to convert Britain's Muslims, Britain's no-go Muslim zones and how radical Islam is filling the "moral vacuum" left by the "decline of Christianity" have resulted in numerous death threats (he has been warned he would not "live long").

Nazir-Ali's parents were converts to Christianity from Islam, and he was born in Karachi, Pakistan. So who better than he to know how scary and difficult it is for Christians in Muslim-majority countries?

While continuing to highlight the perils faced by those who leave Islam in countries like Saudi Arabia and Iran, he now has turned his focus to the harassment of apostates in the West. Last year the bishop warned that a convert could die in Britain unless prominent Muslims affirm the right of all people to change their faith. There have been few takers, despite the dire need for this message: a poll indicates that 36% of younger British Muslims believe death to be an appropriate punishment for renouncing Islam.

Their views are grounded in Shari'a law. All major schools of Islamic jurisprudence stipulate that a sane adult male must be put to death for abandoning Islam, though varying interpretations persist on whether females should be killed or merely imprisoned. Many Islamic states outlaw apostasy and seven list it as a capital offense. However, freelancers such as angry relatives present the greatest danger to ex-Muslims, as Sunni and Shiite scholars largely agree that Shari'a empowers individuals to punish converts. This tradition has followed Muslims to the Western world.

Perhaps Nazir-Ali was compelled to resign when the Church of England chose the craven dhimmi Rowan Williams for the position of  Archbishop of Canterbury. Nazir-Ali should not have been passed over for that contemptible fool.

The Rt Rev Michael Nazir-Ali has announced his decision to step down as the Bishop of Rochester, one of the most senior positions in the Church of England.

Although Dr Nazir-Ali has been in charge of the Rochester diocese for nearly 15 years, the decision to quit - which will see him leave his post later this year - has come as a surprise.

The bishop is aged only 59 and potentially could have stayed in post for another decade. *

He was a leading contender to succeed George Carey as Archbishop of Canterbury, but has become increasingly outspoken at the direction of the Church since Dr Rowan Williams’s appointment.

A spokesman for the bishop said that he wants to turn his attention to working with the persecuted church.

"Bishop Michael is hoping to work with a number of church leaders from areas where the church is under pressure, particularly in minority situations, who have asked him to assist them with education and training for their particular situation," he said.

Dr Nazir-Ali, who became the Church’s first Asian bishop when he was appointed to Rochester in 1994, has taken a strong stand against the rise of Islam in Britian.

He warned last year that parts of the country have been turned into "no-go" areas for non-Muslims and challenged Dr Williams’s claim that the introduction of sharia law is unavoidable.

As a result of his warning, the bishop received death threats saying he would not "live long" and would be "sorted out" if he continued to criticise Islam.

Dr Williams paid tribute to his contribution to the Church of England.

"Bishop Michael’s decision to undertake this new and very challenging ministry will leave a real gap in the ranks of English bishops," he said

Wow. FOX wakes up to the biggest invasion of an enemy in the history of man without a fight. The report is soft and a little stupid, but they do touch on the hot button issues, to their credit. Just this past weekend, according to Depatrick, an Atlas reader living in Belgium, an 18 year old boy was stabbed by a Muslim gang in the small town of Rijkevorsel, during Sunday festivities. The boy was stabbed twice, and the second time the knife was stuck in his back, touching his spine. The boy is fighting for his life (link here).  DePatrick distressingly added,
"In the name of Allah DO ANYTHING THESE DAYS to destabilize our society. They make themselves outlaws for it. Those gangs go to a local town, do their thing and then disappear in the anonymity of the city again. Here the police was alert and could take in 4 of them. Because of the frequency that it happens, this really look like the very first signs of triggering sort of civil war; that we can expect any moment here".

Politicians Fret as Muslim Population Swells in Europe Amid Little Integration FOX News hat tip Joseph

BRUSSELS, Belgium —  A clash of civilizations may be taking place on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, but it's also happening a lot more quietly in European cities.

Old Europe's population is dwindling even as immigration and high birth rates among Muslim groups are swelling in cities all over the continent.

And in Belgium, it is no different.

Filip Dewinter, a leader of the far-right separatist party Vlaams Belang, predicts there will eventually be a kind of civil war when the longtime residents of Brussels — the nation's capital and administrative seat of the European Union — realize their city is about to be taken over by Muslim immigrants.

Although there are no official statistics on how many Muslims live in Brussels, it is believed they make up about 25 percent of the city’s 1 million urban residents. Dewinter, who opposes immigration and has called Islamophobia a "duty," claims three of the 19 sections of Brussels, each with its own mayor, now have Muslim majorities.

"In those neighborhoods it's not our government that's in power," he said, "but the Muslim authorities — the mosques, the imams — who are in charge."

FOX News visited one of those neighborhoods, called Molenbeek, which looks more like North Africa than the heart of Europe.

For some Belgians, that's not a problem. The mayor of Molenbeek, Socialist Philippe Moureaux, has worked hard to help Muslims try to integrate over the past decade and a half.

Moureaux believes multiculturalism is a good thing. He says even those who disagree with him should get used to life as it is in Brussels today: "Be realistic. They're here. They're relatively numerous and they're growing."

Many Moroccans have been in Belgium for decades and are now citizens, as are their children. The imam of one of the main mosques, which thousands of young Moroccans attend each Friday, stressed that Muslim immigrants have starting blending in around Brussels.

During FOX News' brief visit, there were no fiery demonstrations of the kind that have wracked the Netherlands, though the municipality is sometimes considered dangerous to traverse at night.

Yet Molenbeek remains disconcerting. Belgian police assigned three plainclothes officers to watch over a FOX News team shooting street scenes one morning in Molenbeek. When FOX News returned in the afternoon as more people were out and about, the police said it would be safer not to get out of the car. It wasn't even dark yet.

Part of that fear stems from particularly nasty street crime, something that can happen in bad neighborhoods in any big European — or American — city. But part of it is due to strong anti-Western sentiment among Belgium's Muslims, which suggests that true integration is still a long way off.

Mayor Moureaux blames the problems on a tiny number of very violent youths who are condemned by everyone, including the Muslim community.

But for Dewinter, integration simply isn't working. He claims the great majority of the Muslims don't want it to work. So instead of being a melting pot, Brussels has become a city that does everything possible to appease Islam, he claims.

"Halal food is served in the schools, not only for Muslim children, but for all the children," said Dewinter, adding that municipal pools in Brussels now have separate hours for men and women to swim.

The anti-immigrant Vlaams Belang, once considered a pariah party, now controls about 24 percent of the Belgian vote, a trend matched in other European countries with burgeoning Muslim populations.

Though the immigration debate has not yet reached the fever pitch it has in the U.S., a real test will come when a major European city has a Muslim majority. The first could be Marseilles, in France, or Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. But don't count out Brussels, the heart and capital of Europe.

A French human rights organization is summoning Geert Wilders to court.  The head of the PVV party is accused of inciting to hatred of Muslims.

"Wilders made statements about French Muslims, about Muslims in Paris and Marseilles, which incite to racial hatred," says lawyer Yassine Bouzrou.  He lodged the complaint on behalf of the organization, which is being studied by the public prosecution.  If Wilders is found guilty, he can be sentenced for one year in prison.

Last week the PVV head signed an official appeal against the UK's refusal to let him into the country.

He called the riots in the suburbs in 2005 a "Muslim intifada".  Bouzrou came to the conclusion that the expressions are criminal.  "Wilders says in that speech also that one in three French Muslims supports suicide attacks.  With that he suggests that one in three French Muslims is a potential terrorist.  Where he does he get all of this?  How did he get ot it?  Wilders makes serious accusations which are based on nothing."

Bouzrou made the complaint for the French human rights organization ADDH.  They work together with the Collective against Islamophobia in the fight against Muslim hatred.

"A politician may express his idea.  But Wilders makes dangerous statements about something of which he has no understanding.  These are not political ideas, but insults and prejudices," says the lawyer.  "We already had in France attacks on mosques and against Muslim cemeteries.  The statements by Wilders instigate further extremism against Muslims."

Prior to Thursday night’s fires, people have set fire to cars, as well as rubbish bins in stairwells and basements, only to launch attacks on firefighters when they arrive to extinguish the flames.

In addition to firefighters, park and road workers and other contractors have also had rocks thrown at them.

Aronsson attributes the violence in part to the crowded living conditions in the area as well as the social exclusion that results.

“Rosengård is built for 5,400 people. But between 8,000 and 9,000 people live here. Children and young people don’t stay at home but instead are out late into the evenings and sometimes well into the middle of the night,” he said.

In the most troubled section of the area, Herrgården, adult employment [sic; must mean “unemployment” — BB] stands at 86 percent, leaving most of the residents dependent on social welfare payments.

Senior judge condemns use of the word 'honour' to describe abuse and murder within Muslim families Mail Online hat tip Kasper

A senior judge today condemned the idea that arson and murder were matters of 'honour' within a Muslim family.

Lord Justice Wall, giving a ruling on a case involving three Muslim children put in the care of white foster parents, said the time had come to 're-think the phrase honour killing'.

He had heard that a mother had set fire to one of her three children and tried to burn down the house where they lived in an attempt to incriminate her sister-in-law.

The sister-in-law 'presented a problem to the family' and had fled the home after being beaten and her first child murdered by her husband, the mother's brother.

The judge said: 'The message from this case, which must be sent out loud and clear, is that this court applies a tolerant and human rights based rule of law: one which... regards parents as equals and the welfare of the child as paramount.

'That is the law of England, and that is the law which applies in this case. Arson, domestic violence and potential revenge likely to result in abduction or death are criminal acts which will be treated as such.'

He said the activities brought to light by the case had 'nothing to do with any concept of honour known to English law'.

'They are acts of simply sordid, criminal behaviour and a refusal to acknowledge them as such.'

In a statement issued with the judgment, it was pointed out that this was the first time that so-called 'honour' conduct within an ethnic minority community had reached the Court of Appeal in a care case.

The 41-year-old father of the children had tried to appeal against a High Court Family Division ruling which had refused him contact with his children and had rejected calls for them to be placed with a Muslim family.

The local authority had acknowledged that the placement with a white, English non-Muslim family was 'culturally and religiously inappropriate'

The mother of the children - a girl aged 11 and boys of nine and five - is 32 and serving a five-year jail sentence for arson.

One of her brothers had contracted a second marriage to a woman in Pakistan who came to England in 2003 pregnant with her first child.

That child was taken to hospital aged 27 months suffering from multiple injuries and died.

It was not known the motivation for the killing but among the injuries on the child were signs of chronic sexual abuse.

Both the brother and his wife were arrested - the man was convicted of murder and the woman cleared of neglect.

The grandfather in the family is recorded as saying that the death was an accident and the will of God.

He has made it clear that the son will return to live at the family home when he is released.

She was illiterate and while in Pakistan was effectively a prisoner in her own home, her role in life destined to be that of a wife in an arranged marriage, said Lord Justice Wall.

The judge said she remained 'under virtual house arrest' in England, not even aware of the name of the city where she was staying.

In May 2005, she fled with the help of the police and social services after complaining of severe ill-treatment.

She was moved to a secret location after saying the family would track her down and kill her - they would not allow her to 'disgrace' them. She is still in fear of her life.

Later that year, the mother of the three children alleged her sister-in-law and another had entered her home in burkhas, cut the mother's hands and neck with a knife and poured white spirit on to one of the children's clothing before setting fire to clothing at the bottom of the stairs.

Government adviser on Islamic terror arrested after man is stabbed at his home Daily Mail hat tip Rut

A Muslim who advised the Government following the July 7 London bombings has been arrested after an alleged stabbing.

Inayat Bunglawala, 39, was held on suspicion of attacking another man at his £300,000 home.

Mr Bunglawala, who also briefed former Security Minister Tony McNulty on the threat posed by Islamic radicals in the UK, was arrested two weeks before Christmas last year.

The identity of the alleged victim is unknown and it is not clear what circumstances led to the alleged attack in the early hours of December 13 last year.

Mr Bunglawala has been released on bail while the Crown Prosecution Service considers bringing charges.

Mr Bunglawala is one of the most prominent members of the Muslim Council of Britain, an organisation which advises the Government on extremism and counter-terrorism.

After the July 7 London bombings in 2005, he was one of seven Muslims appointed to a Home Office taskforce tackling radicalisation in the UK.

Last week, Mr Bunglawala was featured on the BBC and in many newspapers as the moderate ‘voice’ of British Islam after the Luton anti-war demonstrations.

Critics claim his arrest will once again focus attention on the MCB.

In his final years as Prime Minister, Tony Blair came to distrust the organisation amid claims it was linked to Islamic extremism. But the MCB has enjoyed a renaissance under Gordon Brown and briefed Counter-Terrorism Minister Bill Rammell on community tensions last week. MCB representatives also advised Foreign Secretary David Miliband during last year’s Israel-Gaza War.

Conservative MP Patrick Mercer, who worked as a security adviser to Mr Brown, said of the alleged incident: ‘This calls into question the Government’s vetting of its Islamic advisers.’

Mr Bunglawala has previously worked as a civil servant at Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs but now runs an Islamic website.

His wife, Tahmina Saleem, works for Redbridge Council in East London. They have several children. According to the Land Registry’s records, Mr Bunglawala bought his large Luton townhouse for £300,000 in August 2007.

Many in the Islamic community have been concerned at his behaviour. Mr Bunglawala – the MCB assistant general secretary and Press spokesman – lodged a complaint with the BBC after its website described firebrand cleric Abu Qatada as an ‘extremist’.

Dubbed Al Qaeda’s ‘Ambassador in Europe’, Abu Qatada gave religious authority to extremist groups in the UK and abroad, including the men behind the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Centre.

A Muslim accused of anti-Semitism is to be appointed to a government role in charge of rooting out extremism in the wake of last month's suicide bombings in London.

Inayat Bunglawala, 36, the media secretary for the Muslim Council of Britain, is understood to have been selected as one of seven "conveners" for a Home Office task force with responsibilities for tackling extremism among young Muslims, despite a history of anti-Semitic statements.

Mr Bunglawala's past comments include the allegation that the British media was "Zionist-controlled".

Writing for a Muslim youth magazine in 1992, he said: "The chairman of Carlton Communications is Michael Green of the Tribe of Judah. He has joined an elite club whose members include fellow Jews Michael Grade [then the chief executive of Channel 4 and now BBC chairman] and Alan Yentob [BBC2 controller and friend of Salman Rushdie]."

The three are reported to be "close friends… so that's what they mean by a 'free media'."

In January 1993, Mr Bunglawala wrote a letter to Private Eye, the satirical magazine, in which he called the blind Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman "courageous" - just a month before he bombed the World Trade Center in New York. After Rahman's arrest in July that year, Mr Bunglawala said that it was probably only because of his "calling on Muslims to fulfil their duty to Allah and to fight against oppression and oppressors everywhere".

Five months before 9/11, Mr Bunglawala also circulated writings of Osama bin Laden, who he regarded as a "freedom fighter", to hundreds of Muslims in Britain.

Sweden's third largest city, Malmö, sits just across the water from Copenhagen, Denmark. To visitors, Malmö seems quiet, nice, maybe a little boring; in other words, quintessentially Swedish. But under the surface, Malmö has serious problems.

On Saturday when Israel played Sweden in a Davis cup tennis match in Malmö, an estimated 6,000 Leftists, Arabs, Muslims and anarchists protested the Israeli presence in the city, and hundreds attacked police. Almost no fans were allowed inside to watch the tennis series, because authorities feared disruptions or possible violence against the Israeli team.

Swedish City's Population One-Quarter Muslim

Massive immigration has made Malmö today one quarter Muslim, and stands to transform it into a Muslim majority city within just a few decades. Don't ask Malmö's Jews to give the city the same glowing assessment. Jews who dare walk the streets wearing their yarmulkes risk being beaten up.

"It's true. Jews cannot walk the streets of Malmö and show that they're Jews," said Lars Hedegaard.

Hedegaard lives across the water from Malmö in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he was a columnist for one of Denmark's largest newspapers. He says pro-Israel demonstrations in Malmö, like the ones during the fighting in Gaza earlier this year, were met with rocks, bottles and pipe bombs from Arabs and Leftists.

"I was there for demonstration; a pro-Israeli demonstration with about 400 or 500 people," Hedegaard told CBN News.  "Jews and non-Jews, and I came over to cover it. The police allowed, I'd say a hundred Palestinians or Arabs to shout and threaten and throw bombs and rockets at us. A homemade bomb landed about ten yards from me, and went off with a big bang. And now of course, I thought the police were going to jump these guys, get them out of the way. They didn't. They just let them stand there."

Swede Ted Ekeroth helped film the Arab-Left counter-demonstrations. He saw Arabs throwing rocks at a 90-year-old holocaust survivor.

"I filmed the police chief and asked him why are they not reacting to this," Ekeroth said.  "Why are they not doing anything? And he simply answered, 'It's their right according to the Swedish constitution.'  We apparently did not have the same right, because we were forced out of there. Our manifestation for Israel is always peaceful, and theirs is always the quite opposite -- Death, hate and killing of Jews. They come and they shout different slogans," he continued.  "It can be everything from Arabic slogans inciting killing of Jews to in Swedish and Danish, 'Kill the Jews.'

Seven people have been arrested in the Netherlands on suspicion of planning a terror attack on an Ikea furniture store and a number of shops near the Ajax stadium in the capital Amsterdam..

The arrests follow a telephone warning to Amsterdam police late on Wednesday evening, police chief Bernard Welten said on Thursday evening. The caller from Brussels said three people were planning an attack using explosive devices in or near a major department store in the southeast of Amsterdam. The aim was to cause as many casualties as possible, the caller said.

Public prosecutor Herman Bolhaar told the press that the caller was a relative of one of the perpetrators of the train bombings in Madrid, five years ago. The six men and one woman who were arrested are between 19 and 64 years of age; all of them are Dutch citizens of Moroccan origin. All of them are charged with preparing an act of terrorism. After these arrests, police say the threat has been eliminated, but the prosecutor added that more people may be arrested. 

In addition to the arrests and a number of house searches in the Dutch capital (picture), police in Belgium carried out house seaches in Brussels.

In the course of Thursday morning, the Ikea store and a number of other shops in the area were evacuated. The shops are on Arena Boulevard, named after Ajax's Arena football stadium which is nearby. The shops and the Heineken Music Hall remained closed all day. It is not clear when they will reopen; the police search for hidden explosives is continuing...

Early Thursday, authorities shut down a major Amsterdam shopping street near the ArenA soccer stadium and sealed off the nearby Ikea store. A concert by the American band "The Killers" was canceled.

District Attorney Herman Bolhaar said six men and one woman, aged 19-64, were arrested in Amsterdam. All are Dutch nationals of Moroccan ancestry.

"As far as we can tell, none involved has a history of terrorist involvement," he said at a news conference, though one suspect is related to "a person who exactly five years ago was involved in the attack in Madrid."

Police Commissioner Bernard Welten said the suspect's relative died shortly after the Madrid attacks "as a result of a suicide action."

A Muslim extremist who works as a baggage handler at Luton Airport had his security pass suspended today after it was revealed he took part in a protest hurling abuse at British troops.

Jalal Ahmed was among the 20-strong group of extremists protesting when the Royal Anglian Regiment returned home from Iraq earlier this week.

During their homecoming parade, he was spotted clutching a banner proclaiming: 'Anglian soldiers: Butchers of Basra'.

After he was revealed to be part of the hate-filled demonstration, his pass allowing him to go airside and work at the airport was revoked.

Ahmed, who is in his twenties and lives in Luton, works on a casual basis for Menzies Aviation, which provides baggage handling at the airport for easyJet and other airlines.

He is believed to have worked there during peak periods over the past two years and would have had access to secure areas of the site.

Two police officers are reported to have been attacked and wounded in Nørrebro.

According to initial reports, two police officers have been wounded in the Nørrebro district of Copenhagen after a man attacked them with a knife and sword.

The condition of the two officers is not yet clear.

First reports speak of the two officers and an adversary having been wounded, with the adversary having been shot.

The Jagtvej road in Copenhagen has been closed off, and politiken.dk understands that the incident took place on Kronborggade street.

Police in Scotland have been ordered to give special priority to crimes where the victims are Muslim.

In a move that last night sparked a fresh row over political correctness, a senior officer revealed that the race and religion of a victim has now become a crucial factor in how police respond to crime.

Inspector Tom Galbraith, of Lothian and Borders Police’s diversity unit, told a conference on tackling terrorism that it was important to stop Scottish Muslims feeling “vulnerable” in case they were driven towards radicalism.

Mr. Galbraith said the force encouraged officers to consider the religious or ethnic backgrounds of victims to assess their needs in dealing with hate crimes.

He said that both an attack and a perceived lack of action by police could turn Islamic youths into future terrorists.

Mr. Galbraith also revealed that police officers, Special Branch and BAA security staff were being given special lessons about Islamic culture after Muslims complained that being questioned when entering the country about whether they pray and attend mosques was offensive to their faith.

Speaking at a national security conference in Edinburgh on Thursday, Mr. Galbraith said, “It is not about treating everybody the same.

If I have a young Asian man who has been subjected to a hate crime, I would rather put more resources into that than if it had happened to a white male because the white male is far less likely to end up becoming radicalised.”

He later confirmed that his remarks were in line with Lothian and Borders Police policy, saying that cases of hate crime were assessed “by need”.

He added: “You have to consider cases according to need.  The idea of treating people all the same is a bit naive and we have to remember that there are vulnerable individuals who can be put on the path of radicalism.”

Last night, the police were criticised for being too politically correct in dealing with hate crimes.

Droning Cliches in a Burning Theater   [Mark Steyn]

Following the banning of Geert Wilders - on "public security" grounds - the British government has been defending its decision. The BBC reports:

Foreign Secretary David Miliband told the BBC's Hardtalk: "The home secretary made a decision on an individual case as she is required to do."

He added that the film contained "extreme anti-Muslim hate and we have very clear laws in this country".

Mr Miliband also said: "We have profound commitment to freedom of speech but there is no freedom to cry 'fire' in a crowded theatre."

Here's a good rule of thumb: Anybody who cites the fire-in-a-crowded-theatre line is brain-dead and has given no thought to the matter. And any show called "Hardtalk" worthy of the name would have called Miliband on it. Apart from anything else, I'd wager he never goes to the theatre. ("Fancy seeing Les Miserables?" "Good lord, man, are you insane? The place is a powderkeg.") When I was testifying at the Ontario parliament on Monday, the chair turned to the Liberal member for his questions and, sure enough, the very first one out of the excitable fellow's mouth was:

Mr. Mark Steyn: Oliver Wendell Holmes said that the most stringent protection of free speech would not protect a man in falsely-falsely-shouting "Fire" in a theatre. The problem with the Human Rights Tribunal is that falsely shouting "Fire" is not at issue. It doesn't matter whether the theatre actually is on fire, because under the Human Rights Tribunal, truth is not a defence.

In my own particular case, no one has ever pointed to a single fact in the Maclean's article, an excerpt from my book, that is inaccurate. So essentially-

Mr. David Zimmer: But back to Holmes's statement, is that a fair limitation on freedom of speech: You can't yell " Fire" in a movie theatre, just as a general proposition?

Mr. Mark Steyn: As I've tried to answer you, I think if the theatre is on fire, you're certainly entitled to point that out. By the way, that, as a metaphor, is simply a ludicrous metaphor. He was talking about gaslight, 19th century theatres. By 1919, the Winter Garden on Broadway... was an electrified theatre, and it wasn't in danger of burning down. The metaphor is lazy and irrelevant.

A careless observer might be forgiven for concluding, from the way so many British socialists and Canadian liberals are dependent on the already obsolescent metaphor of a weirdo eugenicist American cracking down on anti-war protestors in a subsequently reversed court decision, that there really are no good arguments for state censorship.

because adults fear terrorism.

For four weeks the 28 children have had to stay indoors in the kindergarten
that is adjacent to a synagogue in Oslo. The decision was made in meeting
between the security personnel of the synagogue, Police Security Service
(PST) and parents.

Kindergarten manager, Anne Stine Mazrachi, is afraid that something
unpleasant may happen. During the war in Gaza, Hamas announced that Jewish
institutions and Jews all over the world are targets of their revenge. The
kindergarten is part of the congregation and synagogue. We have drawn the
conclusion that it is not safe to let the kids out, said Mazrachi to Dagen
Magazine.

Anne Stine Mizrachi thinks it is sad that people are not able to differentiate between being a Jew and Israel’s policy at any time. She is also concerned about the children.

We wonder what this does to children’s identity- that they are not permitted to go out and you must keep them hidden in a free country like Norway. During trips we cannot wear clothes that say “The Jewish Kindergarten,” she says.

Norway's pro-Israel opposition leader under 24-hour guard

"Norway, a country that used to be very pro-Israel, has turned into one of the most anti-Israel countries in Europe today," within both government and public opinion.

That's according to Dr. Asle Toje, a researcher at the BI Norwegian School of Management and foreign policy adviser to the Progress Party of Norway (Fremskrittspartiet).

Toje is a staunch advocate of Siv Jensen, chairwoman of the main opposition Progress Party, who has recently come under fire for her pro-Israel stance. Following her appearance at a pro-Israel rally in Oslo on January 8, Jensen began receiving death threats, and is now under 24-hour security supervision.

"I have never experienced this kind of hatred in Norway," said Toje, who was present at the demonstration. "There were people throwing stones at and spitting on rally-goers. Afterward, people carrying Israeli flags were randomly attacked in the streets."

Along with expressions of support for Israel, speakers at the rally, including Jensen, called for aid to be distributed in Gaza and for a cease-fire agreement to be signed. "It was a peaceful rally," said Toje. "Jensen was calling for the same things as Barack Obama. The difference is that she was doing it in Norway. The environment here is different."

The Socialist Left Party (Sosialistisk Venstreparti), which is part of the current coalition, has proposed a number of boycotts against Israel since the government was formed in 2005.

Israeli/Nazi comparisons and anti-Semitic incidents are now commonplace, Toje said.

On January 21, Etgar Lefkovits reported in The Jerusalem Post on an e-mail sent out by Trine Lilleng, a senior Norwegian diplomat based in Saudi Arabia. "The grandchildren of Holocaust survivors from World War II are doing to the Palestinians exactly what was done to them by Nazi Germany," Lilleng wrote.

Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Labor), in his recent memoir, To Make a Difference, makes an implicit comparison, noting, when writing of Hebron: "Most of the shops have been shut down. The shudders have been bolted and are marked by signs from the Israeli police. They are marked, as other shops have been marked at other places and at other times."

In August 2006, Jostein Gaardner, an esteemed Norwegian author and a friend of Støre's, published an op-ed in the Aftenposten daily under the headline, "God's chosen people."

Gardner wrote, in reaction to the Second Lebanon War, "We don't believe in the notion of God's chosen people. We laugh at this people's capriciousness and weep at its misdeeds. To act as God's chosen people is not only stupid and arrogant, but a crime against humanity. We call it racism."

A week later, Gaarder penned another op-ed, expressing his "regret if I have hurt anyone - though I intended and still intend to be harsh in my critique of the State of Israel."

In September 2006, 10 shots were fired at an Oslo synagogue, but no one was hurt. The shooter, Arfan Bhatti, "wished to kill women and children coming out of the synagogue,"Aftenposten reported.

On June 2, 2008, Bhatti was acquitted of terrorism charges and convicted of "aggravated vandalism." He is now serving an eight-year prison sentence.

Norway's approximately 1,500 Jews, who live mainly in Oslo and Trondheim, have experienced a fair amount of anti-Semitism, Toje said.

Airlift them to Israel. Norway does not deserve any Jews.

He posited that this was connected with the mass immigration from Muslim countries that began in the 1970s.

Early this morning, thugs smashed their way into the coffee shop as the manager hid inside the office. As he watched on the security monitor in the office, they daubed racist graffiti and finally lobbed a molotov-cocktail through the plate-glass window. Luckily he managed to make it to the fire-escape and raise the alarm. Fire-fighters managed to stop the flames spreading to the adjacent buildings.

At Indymedia, it is being flagged up as a triumph of “peace activism” (”Smashing the Israeli war machine - Starbucks, Whitechapel firebombed ” is the headline). But sane people, see this for what it is: thoughtless terror and attempted murder. Sane people know that Whitechapel shops often have residential properties above them and that fires spread quickly through the tightly packed buildings. But then sane people know that Starbucks isn’t an Israeli company either. Sane people know that firebombing shops because you think they’re owned by Jews… oh let’s not waffle: sane people know that firebombing shops is not legitimate political activism - for any reason. Even Spiked Online gets it.

Depressingly, the news that a shop in London was firebombed and daubed with antisemitic graffiti seems only to have been reported in the local press - and of course, crowed about at Indymedia.

So what is causing this? Who are the people hoping to incite Kristallnacht 2.0? Some have pointed their finger at George Galloway, with his call to “shut down Israel shops”. The Respect machine is now in overdrive, letting it be known that he was referring to a handful of small booths that operate in shopping centres, selling cosmetics.  We take him at his word. Of course, one of these “Israel Shops” was smashed up in Belfast earlier this week.

Galloway must, of course, have been very sure that his audience knew which particular chain of shops he was taking about, and was, no doubt, very surprised to find that others thought he was encouraging action to be taken, generally, against businesses connected to Israel. His spokesman, Rob Hoveman, even went so far as explain that Galloway opposes a boycott of Marks and Spencer. But, as a socialist, does he have no regard for the safety and the livelihoods of the workers at those businesses he thinks deserve targetting? Are they to blame for the war in Gaza? Where was this ’socialist’s’ reminder to respect the staff while “shutting down” shops?

Malmö, Sweden - Jewish Burial Chapel Fire Bombed

Malmö, Sweden - A burial chapel in the Jewish cemetery in central Malmö was fire bombed early this morning. It is the third time the chapel has been attacked in recent weeks.

Bottles containing a flammable liquid were thrown into the chapel located in the Jewish cemetery on Föreningsgatan in central Malmö at 5.24am on Tuesday. A small fire broke out and emergency services were called to the scene.

Fire-fighters quickly bought the fire under control and little damage is reported to have been inflicted on the chapel.

Malmö police confirm that this is the third time in recent weeks that the chapel has been the target of attacks.

Jews living in Sweden have come under increasing threat recently following a rise in anti-Semitic attacks around the country in the wake of Israel's campaign against Gaza-based Hamas militants. /p>

The Israeli embassy in Stockholm has been targeted with offensive graffiti, and a Jewish centre in Helsingborg has been the subject of repeated arson attacks, as tensions rise, and the bombing of Gaza continues.

On Saturday there was another demonstration in front of the Parliament building, this time with children in "bloodsoaked" clothes at the front of the march. In spite of several brutal confrontations outside the Israeli embassy Basim Ghozlan, leader of the Islamic Union, urgfed the demonstrators to proceed to the embassy where police were waiting. The children suddenly found themselves sandwiched between police barriers and the surging violent demonstrators pushing from behind. Panic ensued.

Police detained 160 people, most of them young people of Middle Eastern/North African origin. Three kids - 12 to 13 year olds - told how they had been led by a hard core to smash seven MacDonald's restaurants. Then the cry rang out: "To the university to chase Jews."
 
One should think that the papers woud be full of denunciations and shock that Jews are once again fair game in the streets of Oslo. The last time was under the German occupation during World War II. But there is a strange silence. A few innuendos: "We deplore expressions of racism" etc. But no real shakeup. Why not?

One answer: There is no firewall between criticism of Israel and antisemitism and one is afraid of criticizing the Muslims. An inverse situation: unchecked criticism of Israel, and very timid critcism of Muslims. The situation is not unique in Europe, but seems to deteriorate quickly. "What matters is the spirit in which one prays - and prayer excludes hate" Cardinal Martino said.

Bishop Ernesto Vecchi, vicar general of the Bologna diocese, said the Muslim prayers were "not just prayers but a challenge, not so much to the basilica itself as to our democratic system and culture". Bishop Vecchi suggested the staging of mass prayers outside Christian churches in Italy was a deliberate move "on orders from afar" as part of a strategy of "Islamisation" of Europe.

Just last week Muslims were kneeling down in prayer in front of Milan's gothic cathedral as they protest Israel ...... it starts with the Jew, the Sunday folks are next.

Last Saturday they were 20,000 (police figures) or 25,000 (organizer’s claim). Today they were 30,000 (police estimate) or 100,000 (organizer’s assertion). With a dozen hefty police cars and several rows of riot policemen in the lead, he demonstration left Place de la République at 3 PM, went down boulevard Beaumarchais to the Bastille and from there to Place de la Nation. Some “minor” incidents have been reported in the press so far, attributed to “smashers” who didn’t really belong to the demonstration. For some mysterious reason they went straight to Place de la Nation, where they caused the usual trouble, until they were finally joined by the real demonstration, to which they were not really attached. This unlikely story will not convince anyone who actually saw the demonstration, with its smashers ready to smash.  Their faces covered to show the heights of their courage, they ran in packs, often in the opposite direction to the rank and file.

The march was mean, ugly, raucous, defiant, hysterical, frightening. Hundreds of Palestinian flags, a few Hamas flags, and a huge banner proclaiming support for Hamas, carried by the Indigènes de la République. Watch their video on this site http://www.indigenes-republique.fr/ Pro-Hamas, pro-Hizbullah, unashamedly extremist, they claim to resist until all of Palestine (=all of Israel) is liberated. Chanting Palestine vivra, Hamas vaincra (Palestine will live, Hamas will win) the indigenes (the natives) vilify the French president, Arab leaders, Bush of course and, if I heard right, Obama as well. The Indigènes are the hardcore of the demonstration. They are the ultimate in humanitarian protest, n’est-ce pas?  I don’t have to tell you, just watch the video, and you will understand that these people will do whatever their leaders tell them to do. There is no limit.

The rest of the demonstration stretched out in various degrees of jihadism. The banners were slapdash, the “bloodied” sheets were sloppy, the blood libel baby was a dummy. Occasional posters thanked Hugo Chavez (for kicking out the Israeli ambassador), hundreds bore portraits of the founding warlord Izzedine al Qassam. The usual slogans accused Israel of cold-blooded murder, proclaimed “We are all Palestinians of Gaza,” demanded that the media tell the “truth.” Meaning the whole truth, the Hamas truth, and no other truth.  The sound trucks looked like IEDs. The keffieh was de rigueur. Some wore it around the shoulders, some wrapped it around the head…all that was missing was the RPG.

Extreme left anti-capitalist party leaders, Marie-Georges Buffet and Olivier Besancenot, were present and accounted for. There was mention of someone from the Human Rights League. Mouloud Aounit, president of the MRAP, an anti-racist association that known for its dallying with Islamists, announced that the demonstration was a warning to France. They must intervene for an immediate ceasefire and/ or send forces to protect the Palestinians from the Israelis. The demonstration, he said, is not communitarian (ethnic) or religious, it is in the name of justice.

The infidel minority was a bit stronger this time than a week ago. As I presumed then, the UOIF had a lot to do with the turnout. A colleague, Clément Weill-Raynal, confirms that the French branch of the Muslim Brotherhood told imams to talk up the Gaza crisis at Friday prayers, and get the people out into the streets. A week of phony humanitarian crisis and atrocity reports in French media has probably mobilized additional support for the Gazaouis and their Hamas government.

This week France 2 admitted, barely, that a 12-second sequence allegedly showing death and destruction caused by an Israeli airstrike on January 1st was in fact footage shot in 2005. They did not bother to explain that the footage in question was used at that time to falsely accuse Israeli forces of committing an atrocity when in fact the casualties were caused by a truck laden with explosives that went off accidentally in the midst of a crowd in Jabalya. The newscaster mumbled the half-hearted apology without bothering to rerun at least a few seconds of the fake footage so that viewers would know which sequence was being retracted and why. And, more important of all, she did not mention that most of the videos the station is showing these days from Palestinian sources are also faked.

French media have slipped headlong into blood libel mode. Just as they did in September 2000 when the pre-planned jihad attack against Israel was disguised as a popular uprising that turned radical because of a disproportionate Israeli reaction to perfectly normal protests. Today, French media are wallowing in blood, steaming hot libelous blood. If anyone in the French media’s Jerusalem studios is checking the videos that pour in, it must be a Hamas operative. Those courageous Hamas combatants are hiding underground and, with the help of Western media, launching lethal narratives at Israel. Talal Abou Rahma of Mohamed al Dura fame gets a credit now and then, but he has too much competition this time around. Not likely to reap rewards for any scoops!

I suppose the same stories are going around everywhere. The Israelis shot at a UN (they don’t like to say UNWRA) contractor trying to bring in humanitarian aid, forcing the UN to suspend distribution; the Israelis gathered over a hundred innocent civilians in a building… and then bombed it;  etc. , etc., etc. Enough atrocities to go around the world…and strangle it. You can see some of them on the front page of the Communist newspaper, L’Humanité, displayed by demonstrators today.

And of course if we object to staged, faked, doctored, and photoshopped images it means we don’t care about the children who really did get killed or wounded. Tell it to the humanitarians who demonstrated today.

Someone from the Lyon branch of a Muslim association warned that France better heed the message delivered today and take a strong position (against Israel of course). If not, the banlieue is going to explode. That’s right, it’s going to explode. There are elements in the banlieue, he said, that can’t be controlled. No one—not the associations, the political parties, the imams—can control them. Israel can no longer be given special dispensation from respect for international law.

If Nicolas Sarkozy hoped to calm the banlieue by his strong condemnations of Israel’s disproportionate response to the Hamas rocket attacks, which he also condemned, it wasn’t worth the loss of dignity. Today’s demonstrators and the masses they speak for won’t be satisfied with half-measures.

Swedish leading Social democrats in rally with Hizbollah flags hat tip KGS, Tundra

Mona Sahlin, leader of the Social Democratic Party in Sweden, participated today in a rally where Hizbollah flags waved in the air and an Israeli flag was set to flames. Other participants in the demonstration were Jan Eliasson, former social democratic Minister of Foreign Affairs and former President of the United Nations General Assembly, and Wanja Lundby Wedin, chair of the Swedish Trade Union Confederation.

The rally was organised by the Network Gaza Solidarity, in which members of the extreme left work together with immigrant organisations. The demo started at Sergels Torg, in downtown Stockholm, and then paraded to the Israeli embassy where the flagburning took place.

OT but related: The Flemish Parliament voted a resolution condemning the "disproportionate" violence of Israel in Gaza.

The resolution was approved by all the parties, those of the government coalition as well as of the opposition, except for two members of the Liberal Party who abstained, and the Vlaams Belang which voted against the resolution.

    Vlaams Belang demands an explanation from the Mayor and the Chief of Police on the serious incidents that occurred. They also want to know why there was nothing done about banners saying "Joden Buiten" ["Jews Out"], "Osama we need you" and "Jihad, yes we can".

Vlaams Belang accuses Mayor Patrick Janssens of not having done anything to prevent this. "Only zero tolerance towards violence and vandalism is suitable here. The present policy with which all is done not to 'provocate' nobody, is a weak stand in which the Government beds backwards for the AEL and connected organizations.

EUROPE EMBRACES EVIL AGAIN

It is hard to believe that while Shoah victims and holocaust survivors still walk among us, that we would witness an evil so severe and grotesque that it would make the rhetoric of the Third Reich look mild.

We have not yet witnessed the "final solution" of Islamic jihad -- but there are incontrovertible facts that are blinding. The Nazis hid their crimes. The Nazis pretended to be doing one thing while subversively carrying out its "extermination" of Jews,  gypsies, "undesirables", etc. They engaged in rhetoric and obfuscation.

This time is different. The Muslims are not engaging in rhetoric. They are not pretending. They want the Jews dead and they exult in their wild screams of blood lust. Such joy, such happiness at their Jew hating chants from a joyless people.
The Germans went to war, conquered countries and with the help of those weak governments and people annihilated the Jews. The Holocaust was a German initiative subsequently carried out by every nation the Nazis conquered in Europe, with the exception of Denmark.
It's not a national initiative this time. It's global........... a wave of evil has washed over this earth like a veritable tsunami and it has colored everything.

I expect this barbarity and Jew hatred from the Arab/Islamic world. It's what they do and what they have always done.

But what was the lesson that Europe learned after the holocaust? It was not that evil is bad and that they behaved like monsters, but, as Caroline Glick said in our interview, that " rather that everything was caused by nationalism and therefore what we really need to do is have a European Union that will obviate our need for nationalism so that we can become this transnational gobbletygook and we'll all get together and therefore we won't have another Auschwitz". But really the lesson the Europeans should have been is that "we were evil and we have to be good. And that is the lesson we have to learn and and we have to be able and willing to make moral distinctions and stand up for the good and fight evil and that is something the Europeans refuse to do."

Once again Europe chooses to embrace madness and evil as its central unifying characteristic. And this time England is leading the way.

I believe good will triumph over such overwhelming odds and numbers. I know it in my bones, but one has to look at the global landscape and say, at what cost?

Thousands protest in Europe at Gaza offensive Reuters

LONDON (Reuters) – Thousands of chanting, banner-waving demonstrators marched in cities across Europe on Saturday to demand a halt to Israeli bombing in the Gaza Strip.

Protests were held or scheduled in Britain, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain as the Israeli offensive entered its second week. Kuwaitis also took to the streets, a day after bigger Middle East rallies.

In Paris, police said more than 20,000 demonstrators, many wearing Palestinian keffiyeh headscarves, marched through the city center chanting slogans like "Israel murderer!" and waving banners demanding an end to the air attacks.

Similar protests were planned in some 30 other towns.                        

London police said more than 10,000 people staged a noisy march and rally to urge an end to an Israeli offensive against Hamas militants that has killed at least 435 Palestinians.

In many European cities people waved shoes -- recalling the action of an Iraqi journalist who hurled footwear at U.S. President George W. Bush in Baghdad last month in a symbolic insult.

British demonstrators threw dozens of shoes into the street as they passed the gated entrance to Downing Street, where Prime Minister Gordon Brown lives, and shouted angrily at a line of 40 police officers on guard there.

The memorial to the Holocaust's 6 million Jewish victims consists of a field of 2,700 gray slabs situated close to the capital's Brandenburg Gate.

It opened to the public in 2005 and is freely accessible around the clock. Similar vandalism has occurred on several previous occasions.

National Swedish newspaper DN reports that rock throwing against buses has increased with more than 66% from 2007 to 2008. Amazingly, this means that rock throwing is now increasing at an even faster rate than gang rapes of native girls. Curiously, the Wikipedia entry on Fjordman currently states that my previous essays about the Swedish rape epidemic are false because the massive increase in rapes was caused by "a widening of the legal definition of rape." I bet it was. And the 66% increase in stone throwing in the space of a single year was caused by a widening of the legal definition of stones, right?

Fallaci claims to be neither left nor right. She despises the left for the obvious reasons and holds the right in contempt for being weak. For not taking a hard stand and making the tough choices.

Flemish politician, and a leader in the Vlaams Belang party of Belgium, Filip Dewinter, delivered a sterling speech at a memorial for the late Orianna Fallaci, in Firenze last weekend.

Oriana Fallaci was an Italian journalist who passed away two years ago, who became famous for her interviews with a host of international celebrities, such as Henry Kissinger, the Shah of Iran and the Ayatollah Khomeini, etc.. She is also famous for her criticisms of the Pope and the Catholic Church, but also for her views on Islam, and on the present day politics of Europe that she saw as promoting its own colonization and Islamization by Muslim immigrants.

Filip Dewinter has drawn fire from every quarter for his views on Islam and an unfettered open ended immigration policy by the political mandarins in the higher echelons of power in both (the artificial construct) Belgium and on the EU level. Fallaci's insight on what is at stake for the Europe's future, is as relevant today as when she wrote and spoke about it herself. Don't let the multiculturalists fool you, it has never been about race or ethnicity, but about the threat of Islam's monoculture which Dewinter correctly describes as a "stagnant pool".

Highly ironic don't you think, that European multiculturalists are championing diversity with a policy that focuses on its own colonization by a people who cling to a monoculture ideology.(Read= no tolerance for others). KGS

UK POLICE WONT PURSUE MUSLIM CRIMINALS FOR FEAR OF BEING "RACIST'

A Muslim leader has accused the police of failing to tackle Muslim  gangs suspected of prostituting young white girls. The Brits are living dhimmitude. The citizenry is without protection. Free falling into the abyss.

Officers are accused of being "over cautious" when investigating Muslim criminals because they fear being branded racist.

Last night Mohammed Shafiq, director of the Ramadhan Foundation, said the police were differentiating between criminals on the basis of race.

He claimed, driven by fear of race riots in places like Blackburn and Oldham, officers were "overtly sensitive" and not clamping down on the sordid practice.

His controversial comments in this week's Panorama reignite a massively controversial issue which exploded over a Channel 4 documentary in 2004.

That programme which claimed Asian men in Bradford were grooming under age white girls for prostitution was pulled from C4's schedules.

This was because police claimed at the time that it could provoke racial violence during the local election campaign.

Now the BBC is to risk the wrath of police officials and campaigners by airing a programme which will look at the same issue.

Speaking as part of the Panorama investigation, which airs tomorrow (Thursday), Shafiq said: "I think the police are overcautious on dealing with this issue openly because they fear being branded racist and I think that is wrong."

"These are criminals they should be treated as criminals. They are not Asian criminals, they are not Muslim criminals, they are not white criminals. They are criminals and they should be treated as criminals."

He said that some of the criminals were Asian gangs looking to supplement their income, after the cost of drugs has fallen over the last few years.

Shafiq said "I am the only Muslim leader in the UK that speaks up against this sort of thing and I do it because these teenage girls are somebody's sisters and they are somebody's daughters. I have got two daughters and I wouldn't want that to happen to my daughters.

"If there is a drug dealer grooming a white teenager into prostitution then I don't want the police service or local authority not to be open about it."

Philip Davies, MP for Shipley, also raised concerns about the issue yesterday.

He said: "Everybody is affected by political correctness. The reason why it is so important is because things like this.

"Young girls are having their lives threatened and ruined because people pussyfoot around and they are too scared to do anything in case they make a mistake and are accused of racism.

"That's why we have to tackle the culture of political correctness everybody is affected by and I think the police are probably more affected and hamstrung by it than most organisations."

His comments come as Professor David Barrett of University of Bedfordshire also raised deep concerns about the issue in the BBC1 programme.

He claimed evidence suggested that those operating the practice were "absolutely" likely to get away with it.

The programme will controversially reveal the ethnic pattern of the crime which is largely Asian in northern England, Afro-Caribbean in the West Midlands and elsewhere white, Turkish and Kurdish.

The Government, reacting to concerns, has revealed it will introduce new crime-fighting targets aimed at specifically combating the little-publicised problem.

But there are concerns that the practice, mostly operated by drug dealing gangs, has been of little priority to the various authorities.

Figures suggest there are in the region of 5,000 British children being used as prostitutes.

On the programme Vernon Coaker under secretary of state with responsibility for policing reveals the new measures will be come into force next month.

The government also plans to introduce a new warning video for use in schools over the issue.

But despite funding a Home Office study almost ten years ago which revealed how the problem can be tackled, the police has a low prosecution rate.

Coaker told Panorama that using powers under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 there have been just 44 convictions for grooming and pimping young children.

Police attempts are said to be frustrated by a code of silence.

I am just heartily sick of the sensation that I am being ethnically, culturally and demographically cleansed out of existence. Maybe that's an overreaction. But my home town of Rochdale in the UK looks like a suburb of Islamabad. And forget Muslims feeling cowed after 9/11 - no way it was only after 9/11 that the burqas and beards became popular and it was from then on that my grandmother felt real hostility wearing her (jewish) father's Star of David on a chain around her neck. In 2001 the North of England was subjected to nights of rioting caused by Pakistani men; I expect we'll see much worse in the years to come, particularly since the response to those riots was for masses of academics and liberal commentators to see the obvious and instead blame the host community. And nobody wants to mention the increasing harassment of the North's Jewish communities in areas such as Prestwich. If you get the chance there is a program on this subject produced by Richard Little John, it was on Channel 4 and was called "The War on Britain's Jews. Oh and you might also find this interesting, it's a link to MPAC's reaction to the proposed airing of the show representatives are regularly to be found on Sky News and the like giving the moderate Muslim reaction to terror attacks and the like; you know the usual we abhor the killing of innocents and the like.

CHANNEL FOUR: "THE WAR AGAINST BRITAIN'S JEWS"

Well, the idea does not surprise me but the extend of the problem does. The channel four documentary maker, In The new anti-Semitism: How the Left reversed history to bring Judaism under attack Richard Littlejohn writes:

Ever since 9/11 I've detected an increase in anxiety among Jewish friends and neighbours in my part of North London. As I've always argued: just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

When I went to address a ladies' charity lunch at a synagogue in Finchley, I was astonished at the level of security. You don't expect to see bouncers in black bomber jackets on the door at a place of worship.

I soon discovered this wasn't unusual. Nor is it confined to London. The Chief Constable of Greater Manchester, Mike Todd, took me out on patrol with his officers and members of the Community Security Trust, which provides protection for the Jewish community.

These patrols are mounted every Friday night following a series of unprovoked attacks on Jews on their way to synagogue. We passed a care home surrounded by barbed wire.

At the King David School, there are high fences, floodlights, CCTV cameras and full time guards. It was the kind of security you associate with a prison.

They're even installing bombproof windows in many prominent Jewish institutions and running evacuation drills.

This sounded to me like Cold War panic. Surely it's all a bit over the top? Far from it, said Todd.

'We know that people carry out hostile reconnaissance. You do know that there will be attacks potentially and so what we're trying to do is make it a hostile environment to those people who want to engage in anti-Semitic attacks.'

Another pathetic anecdote from a Brit weighs;

You should see the North of England for yourself, it may be a vision of your future. For example an ex-girlfriend of mine went out with a chap whose dad was from Pakistan. The dad divorced his wife and was later found chopped up in the boot of a car; he'd been seeing a younger girl. That was about 10 years ago, nobody called them honour killings then, but we had all heard plenty of stories about people from that community who  disappeared mysteriously. Indeed as a teen I had a "girlfriend" from a Pakistani family. It was an innocent teen thing, roller skating and  coca cola at early evening kids' discos. But meeting her involved a series of byzantine maneuvers designed to make sure her brothers did not find out about what we were doing. She was convinced they would have hurt me very badly if they found out what we were up to. That did not surprise me for some reason as I remember Pakistani lads from my school going to Pakistan at 10 to get married, so I knew they had peculair ways when it came to love and stuff.

BAT YEOR: "The story ought to be told"

The sagacious brilliant Islamic scholar is in our part of the world and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to interview her this weekend.

The prescient scholar who warned us over a decade ago of the coming caliphate in the seminal, groundbreaking work EURABIA (plagiarized by the most revered.).  When I first became aware of the Islamic threat (the first month I started blogging) I went to see  Yeor speak at Columbia University- I asked her, "what can we do, what can I do?" She said "learn everything."

And the internationally renowned author Bat Ye'or. If the other speakers provoke certain people, this diminutive, gentle and brilliant 74-year-old lady seems to positively terrify them. They urge immigration authorities "immediately to bar Bat Ye'or from entering Canada."

Being deported because of Arab anger would, however, be nothing new to the author of a host of internationally acclaimed works on the history of Islam and its treatment of Jews and Christians. She and her family were forced to leave their native Egypt in 1957, part of the more than one million Jews who were exiled from Muslim states after the Second World War and the foundation of Israel. Bat Ye'or's name roars the horror of it all. It is a pseudonym, meaning "Daughter of the Nile" in Hebrew.

The persecuted Jews of the Middle East. The silenced catastrophe. A wave of innocents whose existence in Arab lands pre-dated the birth of Islam. Their numbers were greater than those of the Palestinian refugees and they were frequently treated far more harshly. Yet the world said very little, and today the Islamic bloc and their allies in the United Nations and elsewhere pretend this post-Biblical exodus did not happen.

"It is, I suppose, deeply ironic that I was told that I was not allowed to live in Egypt when I was a girl and now as a grown woman I'm told, in part by people from Egypt, that I shouldn't come to Canada either. As for Israel, they'd like that to disappear," she says, more bemused than bitter. "Where ought I to go? No matter. The story has to be told, the true story of how Islam has treated and still does treat its minorities."

"As late as the early 20th century, in some Muslim countries Jews had to remove their shoes when they left their own quarter, were not allowed to ride a horse, were treated as second-class citizens. This idea of equality is nonsense. Their numbers were restricted, especially in the Holy Land, and the same was true of Christians. There were periodic pogroms, right up till the 1940s."

A pause, searching for the right words. "What occurred back then is history, but history has to be understood and accepted. What we have now is revision, denial. Muslim immigrants are taking this false idea of the past to Europe and North America, along with a culture that does not share the Western notion of tolerance, equality, criticism of religion and freedom."

This thesis of the spread of such ideas is discussed at length in what may be her most famous and controversial book, Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis. In it she argues that Islamic fundamentalism has found its way to Europe because most Muslim moderates are frightened of speaking out and European intellectuals and activists have been seduced by its anti-American dynamic.

It is her collection of work on the Islamic conquest of the Christian heartlands of Egypt, Palestine, Syria and North Africa that have caused so much frustration among Muslim opponents. She writes in detail of Dhimmitude, the method in which Jews and Christians were subjugated and humiliated.

"There are courageous Muslims who do resist but it is difficult and dangerous. There is an underground of Sharia law across Europe, with terrible treatment of women. This is combined with the threat of violence aimed at anybody who speaks out against what is going on. Censorship through fear. We even see this to a mild degree in Canada, an example being the attempt to stop me entering the country."

The cause of Palestine, she emphasizes, is at its heart about the triumph of Islam. "Most of Palestine is in Jordan but we do not hear cries for Jordan to return land. This isn't about the rights of the Palestinians but about the refusal to accept a non-Muslim state in the region. Palestine has become the fashion of the West, without them understanding the deeper issues of the conflict."

Is not the juridical conflict between shari'a law and European laws a slow-ticking bomb?

Bat Ye'or - It is true that we use the same words: justice, peace... But in shari'a, the law of Muslims, peace means submission, above all. Therefore Arab countries will not be able to envisage peace until Israel is subjugated. The concept of women's rights, of simply Human Rights, is different. There is a real antagonism between the two cultures for which I see no solution. Everything in the non-Muslim world is founded on separation of powers and democracy while in shari'a it is first and foremost the primacy of religious law. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a drop in the bucket in the aims of the of the organization of the Islamic Conference that seeks universal Islamization and the establishment of a planetary caliphate. The subversion of the universities, of the media, of the churches, the politics of compromise, of concessions will eventually result in the United States following the lead of Europe in the submission to Islam.

André Darmon - Do you think it would be justified for Israel to demand, as representative of the Jewish people, compensation for the real expulsions and the forced departures of the Jews from Arab lands?

Bat Ye'or - Completely! The Jews of Arab lands and the Jews of East Jerusalem, to take a local example, were chased out by the Arabs. You mustn't forget that during all the Israeli-Arab wars, the Palestinians always took the side of the Arab coalitions while the Jews in Arab countries always showed allegiance to their adopted country and did not join the enemies of the Arab countries.

André Darmon - Do you think you have completed your work on dhimmitude, both historical and present-day, and do you have another intellectual project on the books?

Bat Ye'or - First of all, I owed it to myself to relate the end, the death of a community, that of the Egyptian Jews, which I saw first hand. Dhimmitude is indeed my life's work but today it is still alive in the world when we look at, for example, the enslavement of Christians in Africa. But above all, I would have liked to be a novelist, because my experiences allowed me to meet exceptional people, situations of a an astonishing psychological depth, testimonials of great beauty, that would be material for a novel. That will be my next project, an historical novel.

Britian First in West to Issue Islamic Bonds

Britain is to become the first western government to issue shariah-compliant bonds as it seeks to turn London into the world centre of Islamic finance and build bridges to the Muslim community.

The Treasury will announce today that it is paving the way for the launch of the first bonds no later than next year - and perhaps within the current financial year.

The move, to be unveiled by Ed Balls, the City minister, is unprecedented. Shariah-compliant bonds have previously been issued by the governments of Pakistan and Malaysia and also by corporate issuers around the world but never by a western nation.

The UK would aim not only to issue the new bonds on wholesale financial markets but also to use them as vehicles to allow Muslims in Britain to invest in National Savings products through banks and post offices.

Mr Balls believes that the launch of Islamic bonds by the government will help to underpin London's role as an international financial centre. The Treasury estimates that total Islamic finance assets worldwide, including private equity and bonds exceed $250bn (£124.7bn).

TEACHER SACKED OVER RELIGION ROW BBC

A supply teacher has been sacked from a secondary school following complaints from Muslim pupils. Andrew McLuskey was sacked from Bayliss Court Secondary School in Slough after a Religious Education lesson discussing the pros and cons of religion.

Pupils at the predominantly Muslim school claimed Mr McLuskey said most suicide bombers were Muslim.

But he rejected the allegation and said the school was too quick to sack him without giving him right of reply.

BBC Covering For Islamic Jihad Rapes

Ralph, who I met at the NRI  summit - how great was that?  - sent me the latest act of dhimmitude by the jihad loving BBC.

The Beeb is at it again, rewriting history of the Cronulla riots in December of 2005 here: saying:

“The protest was in retaliation for an attack the previous weekend on a pair of white surf life savers, allegedly carried out by youths of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean appearance. In the minds of many protesters, the youths had attacked an almost sacred Australian icon - the Surf Life Saving clubs, a bastion of white, Anglo-Saxon, working class traditions and values.”

I read in many articles at the time, that one of the factors which triggered Sydney riots in December 2005 was the increasing number of rapes of young Australian girls by men of Middle Eastern origin. Which, as usual, no “moderate muslim" has denounced to this day.

Why would they, it’s part integral of their “religion”:

"The Islamic legal manual Umdat al-Salik, which carries the endorsement of Al-Azhar University, the most respected authority in Sunni Islam, stipulates: “When a child or a woman is taken captive, they become slaves by the fact of capture, and the woman’s previous marriage is immediately annulled. Why? So that they are free to become the concubines of their captors. The Quran permits Muslim men to have intercourse with their wives and their slave girls”: “Forbidden to you are ... married women, except those whom you own as slaves” (Sura 4:23-24).

After one successful battle, Muhammad tells his men, “Go and take any slave girl.” He took one for himself also. After the notorious massacre of the Jewish Qurayzah tribe, he did it again. According to his earliest biographer, Ibn Ishaq, Muhammad “went out to the market of Medina (which is still its market today) and dug trenches in it. Then he sent for [the men of Banu Qurayza] and struck off their heads in those trenches as they were brought out to him in batches.” After killing “600 or 700 in all, though some put the figure as high as 800 or 900,” the Prophet of Islam took one of the widows he had just made, Rayhana bint Amr, as another concubine.

Emerging victorious in another battle, according to a generally accepted Islamic tradition, Muhammad’s men present him with an ethical question: “We took women captives, and we wanted to do “azl [coitus interruptus] with them.” Muhammad told them: “It is better that you should not do it, for Allah has written whom He is going to create till the Day of Resurrection.” When Muhammad says “it is better that you should not do it,” he’s referring to coitus interruptus, not to raping their captives. He takes that for granted."

BERLIN: Prosecutors in Munich on Wednesday obtained warrants for 13 CIA agents allegedly involved in the kidnapping of a German citizen, Khaled el-Masri.

Christian Schmidt-Sommerfeld, the Munich prosecutor, said the warrants had been issued by a local court this week, but it is unclear if the German authorities will be able to have the U.S. agents extradited to Germany.

The warrants could prove embarrassing and even politically damaging for Germany's Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

Steinmeier was chief of staff for the former chancellor, Gerhard Schröder, whose coalition government of Social Democrats and Greens had been in power at that time and had taken a tough stance against the U.S. war on terror. After repeatedly denying any knowledge of the Masri case, Steinmeier last year admitted that he had been informed about the case.

According to Kurnaz's lawyer, the United States had offered to release Kurnat if the German authorities provided strict security measures, including round-the-clock surveillance. The German government refused to accept those terms, and he was finally returned to Germany in August 2006 after Chancellor Angela Merkel demanded his release.

NEW YORK —  A New Jersey-born Muslim cleric with links to a suspected Al Qaeda operative who surfaced at a college not far from the cleric's Peoria, Ill., mosque the day before the Sept. 11 attacks has found a new home.

The imam now is spewing his message of hate to a growing group of followers at a mosque in Birmingham, England.

His target: the United States, the United Kingdom, Christians and Jews.

Abu Usamah at-Thahabi, who preached at the Islamic Center of Peoria in 2001, is the subject of a British news documentary that revealed Monday how he regularly exhorts worshippers at the Green Lane Masjid, or mosque, in Birmingham to hate Westerners, whom he calls "pathological liars" and "kuffar," a derogatory term for non-Muslims.

A DRIVER spent two nights in jail after being accused of "revving his car in a racist manner".

Mechanic Ronnie Hutton, 49, yesterday described his court ordeal which finally ended when prosecutors dropped the allegation of racism.

But he was still convicted of a breach of the peace for revving the engine of his £25,000 Lotus.

Witnesses claimed he had been trying to intimidate a Libyan couple on the pavement. Ronnie, of Stirling, claims he was only revving the powerful V8 engine to avoid another £15,000 repair bill.

But off-duty Chief Inspector Eoin Jenkins thought he was targeting Muslim Isam Maigel and his wife Hana Saad.

The Veil as Criminal Weapon

Unbelievable. I started putting this post together yesterday when another high profile criminal case of  burka treachery hit my radar screen and I rushed publish.  Mark Steyn notes in his most excellent book, America Alone,  "there is no evidence that any Muslim woman anywhere ever wore the jilbab before the disco era, when it was taken up by the Muslim Brotherhood and others in the Arab world. It is no more ancient and traditional than platform shoes, bell bottoms and cheesecloth shirts."

ACCUSED LONDON BOMBER FLED IN BURKA Yahoo UK Ireland

One of the alleged July 21 bombers fled London after the attempted attacks disguised as a woman wearing a burka, their trial heard.

Yassin Omar was captured on CCTV at Golders Green coach station in north London and at Birmingham coach station disguised in the traditional Muslim women's dress.

He was picked up on the CCTV just a day after the attempted attacks, Woolwich Crown Court was told.

Prosecuting counsel Nigel Sweeney said: "CCTV shows him and his fiancee at Golders Green coach station and him at Birmingham coach station that evening disguised in the burka"....

Afterwards, he tried to convey the impression of a man "carrying on his life as normal", Mr Sweeney said. On July 26 he went to the police but "not to tell the truth", he alleged.

Instead, during the course of interviews lasting a number of days, he "lied on an epic scale" to keep up the pretence that he only happened to know two of the defendants, Mr Sweeney told the jury. Eventually, the true scale of his involvement was revealed by the "weight of evidence" against him, he said.

Many terrorists, criminals and fugitives have taken advantage of our spinelessness in facing the enemy.

Bostom writes, Hirsi Ali's response to the standard non—sequitur apologetic about the putative existence of, 'different Islams', is unequivocal:

"No that is an erroneous idea . If one defines Islam as the religion founded by Muhammad and explained by the Koran and later by hadiths,  there is only one Islam that dictates the moral framework."

Finally, she concludes that true reform of Islam, to render it compatible with modern human rights standards, must include criticism of both its core sacred text, and founder:

"You cannot liberalize Islam without criticizing the Prophet and the Koran...You cannot redecorate a house without entering inside."
