ACTION ALERT JULY 13: STOP ISLAMIC SAUDI ACADEMY AND ISLAMIC SUPREMACISM IN VIRGINIA

It's back: the Saudi Islamic Academy that teaches jihad, grooms valedictorians cum presidential assassins, distributes hate textbooks etc., will have another hearing for their application to expand the school on state property. Bear in mind that two Christian schools were denied that same request. But it looks like the dhimmi board is going ahead. Make your voice heard.

How in bed is the county with ISA (Islamic Saudi Academy)? ISA Opponents filed a complaint with Attorney General over Fairfax County Dinner Invitation by the Islamic Group. The Fairfax County government distributed invitations to a free dinner to learn about the religion of "peace and harmony" -- Islam. There is collusion between the county government and the Islamists and they operate as one every time the ISA or related issues come up. The Saudis have purchased the Fairfax County government.

Each speaker will be given a short three minutes to encourage the Board to vote it down. If you don't want to speak just go to the podium and say you oppose the approval of the ISA expansion proposal. Please sign up today.

Next Monday is the final hearing on the radical Islamic Saudi Academy’s proposed expansion here in Fairfax County, Virginia. We do not have a single vote right now and one Supervisor, Pat Herrity who self-identifies as a “conservative”, is bobbing and weaving like you wouldn’t believe.

The last hearing brought a huge wave of new support to our campaign to shut down the “academy” and unmask the undiluted Shariah which is being practiced and taught there.

The Fairfax County government has dropped even the appearance of being impartial in this “land use” dispute. The government’s official community outreach office sent out an invitation to a free dinner to learn about the real message of “peace and harmony” of Islam. It was distributed by official government e-mail to churches throughout the county and sent to some vocal opponents of the ISA.

ISA is a national issue. With the cooperation of the local government, radical Islamists have established a madrassah here in the rapidly expanding Islamist enclave of Northern Virginia. Congressmen Frank Wolf (R-VA) and Anthony Weiner (D-NY) have both complained to the State Department about the Saudi-owned and operated “academy” but still no action.

Several national news organizations have talked with us about covering the hearing.

Calls to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors (see attached) from outside Virginia will help us drive home the fact that the “whole world is watching” and the Supervisors cannot afford to reinforce the stereotype of corrupt “Southern politicians” like those in the movies in which Rod Steiger played the Sheriff.

Revised Islamic History Books at Saudi Academy Face Criticism FOX

The school deleted from its texts some of the most contentious passages, including references to Jihad, killing infidels and hatred of Jews and Christians.

But critics say the books are still "toxic" and contain more subtle references, such as criticism of secular forms of government.

Ali Al-Ahmed, director of the Gulf Institute, which has been pressing the school to make revision since 2004, told FOX News that the textbooks characterize secular governments as "committing unbelief and allowing us to wage war against them."

"So you're teaching American students -- implanting the seeds of insurgency in these people -- and this is very dangerous," Al-Ahmed said.

He added that the textbooks teach girls that they should not aspire to be judges or political leaders and when a girl gets married, she must ask her husband if she wants to leave the house.

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom says it wants to look at the books but the Saudi government, which funds the academy, won't give the panel a copy.

"We can't figure out what the Saudi government has to hide and why they continually keep these secrets," said Felice Gaer, chairwoman of the commission.

Gaer's panel released a 2008 report commissioned by the U.S. Congress which stated the school's earlier textbooks contained several troubling passages, including one that claims it is permissible for Muslims to kill adulterers and converts from Islam, and another that claims "the Jews conspired against Islam and its people."

Gaer said the State Department should translate the textbooks and determine whether they encourage violence, which would be against the law.

The Islamic Saudi Academy developed new Islamic studies textbooks for all grades after a 2008 congressional report called portions of the previous editions troubling.

But Al-Ahmed said the Gulf Institute is putting together a detailed report on these textbooks that he says will show that the school "has been deceiving' the American people on its real intention".

There is a serious issue related to radical Islamic Wahabbists gaining a greater foothold in Fairfax/Fairfax County. 

On July 13th,  there will be a very important Fairfax County Planning Commission meeting to hear from the public about the Islamic Saudi Academy (ISA)’s request to expand their Shariah based school. 

The ISA wants to replace the current building on the property with a very large two-story structure which will give them 10 times the square footage they have presently. There will be a place to meet and pray for student use only—this will be a mosque.

The Islamic Saudi Academy (ISA), founded, funded, and controlled by the Saudi Government, seeks to expand its school in Fairfax on Popes Head Road.  Currently the ISA has two locations , an upper grade school near Ft Belvoir/Mt Vernon  and a lower grade school in Fairfax.  The Wahabbists want to consolidate all 900 (and growing) students at the Fairfax location. 

At the center of the controversy are the school’s curriculum and the crimes committed by those who attended or worked at the ISA:

  • Ismail Selim Elbarasse served as an accountant at ISA for 14 years before he was arrested for videotaping bridge structures including the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in August, 2004. On the day of his arrest, he was also named as an “unindicted co-conspirator” for laundering money on behalf of the American affiliate of Hamas.
  • Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, an ISA valedictorian, is serving a thirty-year prison sentence for providing material support to Al-Qaeda and plotting to assassinate President G.W. Bush.
  • Abdalla I. Al-Shabnan, Director General (Principal) ISA, was arrested by Fairfax police in June, 2008 for obstruction of justice and failing to report a case of child sexual abuse involving a five year old girl at the Popes Head campus.  Al-Shabnan was fined $500.

§  Mohammed El-Yacoubi and Mohammed Osman Idris, were denied entry into Israel when authorities there found El-Yacoubi carrying what the FBI believed was a suicide note linked to a planned martyrdom operation in Israel.

There is a pattern of anti-American, anti-Semitic and anti-Christian activity at the Islamic Saudi Academy.  The curriculum sanctions murder against Jews, adulterers, homosexuals, and converts from Islam—for all other Americans these would be considered crimes.

Each time the ISA gets caught and there is a new flare-up over the hate taught at the ISA, the school “fixes” the curriculum a little.  In anticipation of this zoning request, Planning Commission hearings and then the full Board hearing , the ISA has once again claimed they have altered their textbooks.  However, while the Islamic Saudi Academy deleted some of the most contentious passages from the texts, copies provided to The Associated Press show that enough sensitive material remains to fuel critics who claim the books show intolerance toward those who do not follow strict interpretations of Islamic Shariah.

Because this school is operated by the Saudi government, it teaches from the Wahabbist Saudi texts provided by the Saudi Ministry of Education.  Just as an American school overseas teaches “American” curriculum such as the Revolutionary War, our Presidents and major holidays--this school teaches Wahabbist curriculum.

  • 15 of the 19 hijackers on September 11th were Saudi--educated in schools just like the ISA with Wahabbist curriculum.

·         Islam teaches that Jews are apes, the keepers of the Sabbath; while the swine are the Christian infidels of the communion of Jesus.

  • It is permissible for a Muslim to kill an apostate (a convert from Islam), an adulterer, or someone who has murdered a believer intentionally: “He (praised is He) prohibits killing the soul that God has forbidden (to kill) unless for just cause…”  Just cause is then defined in the text as “unbelief after belief, adultery, and killing an inviolable believer intentionally.” (Tafsir, Arabic/Sharia, 123)
  • Jihad in the path of God – which consists of battling against unbelief, oppression, injustice, and those who perpetrate it – is the summit of Islam. This religion arose through jihad and through jihad was its banner raised high. It is one of the noblest acts, which brings one closer to God, and one of the most magnificent acts of obedience to God.

·         When is battle jihad in the path of God? … To fulfill an order from God,sacrifice in His path, spread the creed of monotheism, defend the realms of Islam and Muslims, and raise up the word of God. This is jihad in the path of God.

·         Jihad continues until the Day of Resurrection.

NYC Mayor Bloomberg Says No to Muslim School Holidays

Back on June 18th, I reported that Resolution 1281 was passed overwhelmingly by the New York City Council Education Committee. It called on the “New York City Department of Education to incorporate the Muslim holidays of Eid Ul-Fitr and Eid Ul-Adha as observed school holidays in the school calendar for the city school district of the city of New York” and also asked that the state legislature “pass, and the Governor to sign into law," a measure calling for this. CAIR was euphoric. It was absolutely silent on the mullahs murdering Iranians who were fighting and dying  for freedom in Iran, but positively giddy on the news that the NYC Council had caved on Muslim holidays.

Today Bloomberg said no to Muslim school holidays.

Atlas readers know that I have my issues with Mayor Bloomberg and I have been vocal about it. I was outraged that Bloomberg would not remove CAIR-New York President Omar Mohammedi from the New York City Commission on Human Rights. Mohammedi was appointed to the Commission in October of 2002.  We protested the Mayor's  appointment here, after Mohammedi took after the Jane and the John Does in the "flying Imams" episode. 

Terror lawyer Mohammedi represents a number of organizations that are the defendants in a 9/11 lawsuit for the murder of 3000 innocent people. One of the organizations he is the lawyer for is the World Assembly for Muslim Youth (WAMY), a Saudi-based group with offices around the globe that publishes incendiary materials against Jews and openly supports Hamas and violent jihad. Mohammedi also represents the six imams who were removed from a plane that was headed for Arizona in November of 2006, in a lawsuit against the airline (and originally also the passengers who reported the imams’ suspicious behavior).

Mayor Bloomberg has stated that he disagrees with Mohammedi's private actions in exposing the "John Does" in the "Flying Imams" lawsuit, but a human rights commissioner is appointed by the mayor and serves at the mayor's pleasure.

Another member of the Human Rights Commission, Rabbi Haskell Lookstein, raised questions about Mr. Mohammedi's appointment.

"If in fact CAIR does have close ties to known terrorist organizations, then the presence of its general counsel on the Human Rights Commission of New York City would seem to me very problematic," said Rabbi Lookstein. "The most elementary human right is the right to live and not to be blown to bits."

BUT he did the right thing in this case. Separation of church and state. Bravo Bloomberg.

NEW YORK (AP)  -- New York's City Council has passed a nonbinding resolution asking the Education Department to observe two important Muslim holidays. But Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the city is so diverse schools can't observe every holiday.

The city has the nation's largest school system. A 2008 study by Columbia University's Teachers College estimates at least 10 percent of its 1.1 million students are Muslim.

The resolution was passed Tuesday. It asks the Bloomberg administration to observe the holidays in schools and for the state to require it by amending education law.

OBAMA APPOINTEE KEVIN JENNINGS: FISTING AND “[F–k] ‘em” to the “Religious Right”

President Obama has appointed Kevin Jennings, founder of GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network) — which sponsored the conference that produced the notorious “Fistgate” scandal (in which young teens were guided on how to perform dangerous homosexual perversions including “fisting”) — to head up “Safe Schools” efforts at the Department of Education. Jennings is a vicious, anti-religious bigot who once said “[F–k] ‘em” to the “Religious Right.” He supports promoting homosexuality and gender confusion as normative to even young students.  He made that comment in a New York City church. TAKE ACTION: Urge your U.S. Congressman and Senators to call for the withdrawal of Jennings’ appointment at the Education Department. Call Congress at 202-224-3121 or 202-225-3121. More here, 

You can't make this stuff up. Obama has appointed this radical to head up our "safe schools"? But who is going to keep kids safe from him? I have said this before: I don't care what you do in the bedroom - whatever rocks your boat, as long as it's two consenting adults, but don't bring it into the classroom. The left will twist this into some homophobic charge. I am not, and that is a fallacious argument. This is another terrible Obama choice. Do not traumatize children. Why can't the schools just teach reading, writing, arithmetic and civics? There is radical in every Obama appointee.

Students as young as 12 given graphic instruction in homosexual sex by state employees

The Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN) is a national homosexual activist group targeting children in the public schools. Its founder, Kevin Jennings, was recently appointed to a high position in U. S. Department of Education by Barack Obama. GLSEN is part of the tax-supported Massachusetts Commission on Gay Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender Youth. (In fact, GLSEN's membership in that commission is mandated by law!)

On March 25, 2000, GLSEN put on a conference called "TeachOut" for kids across and public school teachers across Massachusetts. This conference was co-sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Education.

At this conference children as young as 12 years old were taught by state employees how to engage in various extremely dangerous (and disgusting) homosexual sex acts. Scott Whiteman, then an employee of Parents Rights Coalition (as MassResistance was known then) attended the conference and tape-recorded those workshops. Soon afterwards, a tape was released with the actual voices of the adults -- state employees -- made during the workshop (described below).  That tape sent shock waves across the country. The story was covered by media in the US and other countries, and is even written about in several books. Soon afterwards a court banned the posting or distribution of the "Fistgate" tape until recently.

The following article was written by Scott Whiteman and Brian Camenker immediately after the incident and was published in the May, 2000, issue of Massachusetts News. It led to national media coverage and two lawsuits.

The above quotation comes from Massachusetts Department of Education employees describing the pleasures of homosexual sex to a group of high school students at a state-sponsored workshop on March 25, 2000.

On March 25, a statewide conference, called "Teach-Out," was sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Education, the Governor's Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth, and the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN)

Among the goals were to build more Gay/Straight Alliances in Massachusetts and expand homosexual teaching into the lower grades. Scores of gay-friendly teachers and administrators attended. They received state "profespsional development credits."

Pamela, I am totally against such graphic, and frankly "kinky" sex acts being peddled as a required subject for adolescent sex education. And I am Gay; I am appalled that such acts are even being discussed. "fisting" is even on the fringe for most gay people. It is a sadomasochistic act. It carries safety risks. What ever happened to the whole "safe-sex" and abstinence routine after AIDS skyrocketed in the early 80's? No, Obama does not think that even suggesting abstinence is acceptable. But guess what: It works. I thought we were moving away from unsafe, casual sex; I thought we were moving away from the mentality of promiscuity that has taken so many lives: Lives of caring, creative, good, and MORAL people who were taken away from us; taken away from ME, when they were in their prime. This administration is doing nothing less than trying to DIVIDE all of us; Listen to my plea: we have come so far and this ploy by the radical fringe is too much to take. Two Connecticut Schools Consider Holiday to Honor .........MECCA

Take notes. So that you can relay to your grandchildren how it happened, how we lost America. How America lost her way and gave it all away.

What are we celebrating here? Mecca? The subjugation of women? The persecution of non-Muslims? Islamic supremacism? Islamic imperialism? Islamic jew hatred? The Muslims dancing in the streets on 911? Terrible, all of it.

Why should non-Muslims be forced to be part of a day off from school in honor of Mecca? Considering that non-Muslims are not even allowed to go there.

School district to consider Muslim holidays

PROSPECT, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut school district is considering a proposal to close schools on two Muslim holidays.
The Region 16 Board of Education is expected to take up the Student Council’s proposal this week.
The board represents the towns of Prospect and Beacon Falls, Conn.
The resolution asks the board not to hold classes on the day that marks the end of the fasting period of Ramadan and on the day that concludes the annual observance of the pilgrimage to Mecca.

US' FIRST FOUR YEAR ACCREDITED "ISLAMIC COLLEGE"

America takes another 40 steps (or 400 years) backwards.

PLAINSBORO, N.J. —  A group of American Muslims, led by two prominent scholars, is moving closer to fulfilling a vision of founding the first four-year accredited Islamic college in the United States, what some are calling a "Muslim Georgetown."

Advisers to the project have scheduled a June vote to decide whether the proposed Zaytuna College can open in the fall of next year, a major step toward developing the faith in America.

Imam Zaid Shakir and Sheik Hamza Yusuf of California have spent years planning the school, which will offer a liberal arts education and training in Islamic scholarship. Shakir, a California native, sees the school in the tradition of other religious groups that formed universities to educate leaders and carve a space in the mainstream of American life.

Academic jihad. Another giant leap is galloping sharia in America. Here's some background information on Sheik Hamza Yusef from Discover the Networks:

Born as Mark Hanson in 1959 to parents who were American academics, Hamza Yusuf converted to Islam at age seventeen. Today he may be the West’s most influential Islamic scholar. With a reputation for hostility toward the United States and Israel, he commonly appears as a guest speaker at events organized by various chapters of the Muslim Students Association of the U.S. and Canada.

On September 9, 2001 – just two days before the al Qaeda attacks against America – UCLA’s Al-Talib magazine co-sponsored a benefit dinner titled “Justice for Imam Jamil Al-Amin” (aka H. Rap Brown) at UC Irvine. Al-Amin had recently been convicted of murdering an Atlanta police officer who was attempting to arrest him. Among the speakers at this benefit was Sheikh Hamza Yusuf, who spoke about the fate he foresaw for America:

They [Americans] were ungrateful for the bounties of Allah, and so Allah caused them to taste fear and hunger. That is one reason and, I would say, that this country is facing a very terrible fate. The reason for that is that this country stands condemned. It stands condemned like Europe stood condemned for what it did. . . . This country [America] unfortunately has a great, a great tribulation coming to it. And much of it is already here, yet people are too to illiterate to read the writing on the wall.

At this same rally, Yusuf lamented that Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, the blind Egyptian cleric convicted of masterminding the 1993 World Trade Center bombing as well as unfulfilled plans to destroy various Manhattan bridges and tunnels, had been “unjustly tried” and “condemned against any standards of justice in any legal system.”

The following is part of an effort by this writer to warn Muslims against allowing the reduction of our religion by similar political imperatives. We should never hope to see the day when, if possessing the requisite firepower, Muslims would visit upon the civilian population of Israel the sort of savage violence we see decimating the innocent civilians of Gaza and Lebanon.

I would like to point out that Zaid Shakir is a confirmed wahhabi. Do not purchase or read any books written by the wahhabi Zaid Shakir or listen to any lectures by the wahhabi Zaid Shakir.

Come to Connecticut USA and visit Masjid Al-Islam in New Haven and see for yourself the wahhabi legacy left by Zaid Shakir at this place. He single handedly did a lot to promote wahhabism in the USA and especially Connecticut, and thus far he has not yet recanted any of it.

His wahhabi influenced writings are still published in a local deobandi wahhabi monthly publication titled "Iqraa".

Zaid Shakir may be trying to "turn a new page" and come off a sufi or something, but he has yet to do work to reverse the wahhabi ideas that he worked hard to spread.

And the notoriously Jewicidal, leftopathic magazine, Tikkun, ran Zaid Shakir's "review" of the movie Obsession:

This past September, 28 million copies of the anti-Islamic propaganda documentary Obsession were distributed free of charge in what were considered the “swing” states in the past presidential election campaign. This effort was clearly designed to leverage the idea in the minds of some Americans that Senator Barack Obama is a Muslim (he is not), seeking to identify him with the images and statements of Muslims portrayed in the video. These portrayals give the impression that Islam is a fanatical, bloodthirsty religion, whose adherents are hell-bent on destroying America. By implying a connection between Senator Obama and “radical” Islam, the film sought to prove that Obama was too anti-American to be seriously considered for the highest office in this land.

The film is propaganda that relies in some instances on distorting the truth and in others on blatant lies or vile innuendos. The film points to some extreme doctrines that the overwhelming majority of Muslims readily condemn, implying that “radical” Islam is the new fascism and that it poses an existential threat to the United States. This allegation is false and dangerous. To support this allegation, the film’s producers juxtapose scenes of Nazi marches and other forms of political imagery with corresponding Muslim images. I have previously discussed the exaggerated nature of the Islamic threat (see newislamicdirections.com). There I wrote (in September 2008):

In recent days, surrogates of one of my opponents have been distributing, free of charge, a disturbing DVD entitled Obsession. This film attempts to portray the maniacal rants of a minuscule fringe of deluded Muslim fanatics as an existential threat to the United States that must be combated by the full might of the United States’ military and society. It tries to deceive you into believing that “Radical Islam” and “Islamo-Fascism” is the twenty-first-century equivalent of Hitler’s Germany. Both history and contemporary reality belie that claim. Nazi Germany was an industrialized state that had military means that rivaled or surpassed those of America. Had circumstances proved more favorable for the Germans, they could have well developed an atomic bomb before America. Similarly, under more fortuitous circumstances, Germany’s ballistic missile program, which produced the deadly V2 Rocket, and its fighter aircraft program, which introduced the Messerschmitt 262, the world’s first tactical jet fighter, could have given Germany a tactical advantage that could have turned the tide of the war in Hitler’s favor.

Looking at these two "scholars," one can only imagine the "education" students will be getting at the first Islamic university. Will our taxpayers be funding this?

We should be closing hotbeds of jihad, not standing by while they open more.

Institutional Jew Hatred at University of Toronto - It's Academic
“Medicine, War and Occupation: The Case of Gaza."

Steve Samuel: "Last night, at the University College building of U of T, a pseudo-medical presentation was made under the title of “Medicine, War and Occupation: The Case of Gaza." It turned out to be a clear demonstration of hatred, intolerance and total opposition to any constructive dialogue. It was not only devoid of any scientific medical data but when the misrepresentations were challenged with documented facts the environment turned very ugly. I attended and, in the attachment to this e-mail [below], I have described in detail to my colleagues in DARA (Doctors Against Racism and Anti-Semitism) what transpired. I believe you will find it quite an "eye-opener" about what is taking place on the U of T campus under the guise of "academic freedom" and" exchange of ideas".

I just got back from the above event which had been advertised as a presentation on “The impact of war, siege and occupation on the health of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip”. This evening proved to be quite unnerving and certainly left me with the feeling that, at least in regards to the group present there tonight, there is nothing to talk about and no-one to talk to. Let me elaborate.

I arrived before 7PM and there were a few people, some of whom I recognized from previous events including the one at the Leslie Dan Building. Later I saw 2 member of DARA in the hall.

The opening remarks were made by Dr. Paul Hamil, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, U of T in the “Health Studies program”. He announced that the evening had been sponsored by the Canadian Arab Federation, Canadian Friends of Sabil (an organization that promotes Boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel), and NECF (Near Eastern Cultural Foundation of Canada). Dr. Hamil introduced Dr. Elodi who thanked the U of T for permitting the presenters to exercise their “right”, not a “privilege” to present their position and immediately launched into an anecdote about how Israel refused to allow an academic conference in Gaza from taking place. He finished with a joke about an Israeli who, upon visiting London is asked by immigration about his occupation. He replies, “No, I am just visiting”. That brought laughter from the room.

Dr. Elodi introduced Dr. Karmi who described the difference between this conflict and other conflicts:

1) It is “Not a war” because Israel carries out military assaults on the Palestinians with disproportionate force and it besieges Gaza.

2) Israel acts with impunity and visits “a great deal of violence” on the Palestinians.

3) The conflict is longstanding and “does not end”.

Dr. Karmi went on to talk about how Israel’s occupation for the last 61 years has “damaged” Palestinian society, the previously vibrant Palestinian agriculture and industry (“De-development”) as well as having a terrible consequence on the health of Palestinians under occupation. She sited statistics such as the infant mortality rate among Palestinians in the W. Bank and Gaza is 27/1000 live births vs. 3.6/1000 in Israel.

Dr. Karmi then went on to discuss the situation in Gaza. This was done in a very subjective manner with terms such as “horrifying”, “criminal”, “incredible”. She stated that Israel had planned to destroy as much of Gaza as possible in order to set back the society socially and economically. To the gasps of the audience, she described the horrible consequences of white phosphorous with wounds smouldering for 10 days, legs amputated at the hips by various mysterious weapons and especially children suffering. She accused Israel of using Gaza as a laboratory for untested American weapons and utilizing weapons that emit radioactivity with untold future consequences on Palestinian children. She accused Israel of causing an environmental disaster as a result of the pollutants released from destroyed factories. She went on to list the casualties in Gaza as follows: - total of approx. 1450

- 930 civilian

- 250 children

- - 233 "policemen"

No-one cared to question this math. Were the 250 children among the 930 “civilians” or were they among the “policemen”? Where there no combatants at all? Just "policemen"?

Dr. Karmi went on to urge the audience to “do something”. Not just sit and watch Israel’s “sadism”. She urged the audience to try to influence civil society by promoting the BDS campaign (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) on every front, including economic and academic. She recounted how she was involved in the organizing the attempt at the British academic boycott of Israel.

When it came time for questions, a member of our executive recounted his credentials in the peace movement together with Dr. Elodi and expressed distress at the situation in the Middle East resulting in suffering on both sides. He said that Dr. Karmi did not advance a solution to the problem by looking at the problem from only one side. His request to her was to promote dialogue and to work for the benefit of the peoples on both sides of the conflict.

I was somewhat taken aback by her response, coming from a so-called “academic”. "There is no issue of bias here. What we have is a settler colonialist State of Israel. It is impossible to find a common pathway here”. The audience clapped and our member left.

When my turn came I said the following:

“Dr. Karmi. From what you have replied to the previous questioner I conclude that you see the only solution being the end of the State of Israel. (The audience cheered). I shall address my question to the medical side of your presentation. You sited statistics to demonstrate that the Israeli occupation has adversely affected the health of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. Specifically you stated that the infant mortality is 27/1000 vs. 3.6 in Israel. The latest UNICEF statistics show that although the infant mortality among Palestinians is greater than in Israel it is lower than in Egypt (28/1000), Lebanon (27/1000), Jordan (22/1000). The IM among Palestinians according to UNICEF data is 21/1000. Also the latest World Health Organization statistics show that Palestinians in the territories have an ASMR (Age & Sex Standardized Mortality Rate per 100,000) that is the lowest among Arab countries in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia has an ASMR of 1075, Egypt 898, Algeria 794, Lebanon 73 and the Palestinian territories 698.5. It appears that occupation has resulted in an improvement in the health care of Palestinians as measured by the WHO and UNICEF. Why do you claim to the contrary”?

The audience started to boo me half way through my question at which point Dr. Hamil reminded them that this is a place where all opinions are allowed.

Dr. Karmi’s response was as follows: “Why compare infant mortality with other countries such as Egypt or Indian? Israel is the occupying power and it has a responsibility for health care in the territories it occupies and the infant mortality among Palestinians should not be higher than for Israelis.”

At this point things turned ugly. A woman whom I had encountered at the CJPME event stood up and addressed me rather than the speaker. She stated that she is Jewish. She said, “You are Dr. Samuel. I can’t understand how you can speak on the side of the Israelis who are committing horrible crimes. I am a Jew and I am ashamed of what Israel is doing”. She went on and on as the audience cheered.

Then another man stood up and stated that every year in Israel the Jews hold Holocaust remembrance ceremonies. “And they have a right to do that”. But how can they commit these same crimes. He then turned to me and said, “I have seen you before. You must be the most stupid man I have ever met. You are a racist”. At which point some in the audience echoed, “Racist”.

I stood up and said, “Look at yourselves. You are calling me a racist because I presented statistics from the World Health Organization and UNICEF. What was racist about that”? Several people called out, “You are a racist”. I said, “You people are interested in only talking to yourself” and as I walked out a man sitting along the aisle said to me, “You are a racist. I am a Jew and I can smell a racist”. Another woman beside him said, “You are a racist”.

I left.

The title alone – “Israel: The Politics of Genocide” – reflects that this event, like previous Muslim Student Union events, will demonize Israel and make false and hateful accusations against Israel and Jews. Individuals scheduled to speak at this event have a record of making hateful and vilifying statements about Jews, Zionism and Israel. A program like this one can promote violence against Jews on campus and beyond.

In addition to publicly condemning this event that will promote hatred of Jews and Israel, we call on you to condemn the Muslim Student Union, the perpetrators of the anti-Semitic bigotry. This group continues to violate the values and principles of the UC Irvine community that specifically call for “a learning climate free from expressions of bigotry.”

As an American, you have the right to speak out and explicitly denounce anti-Semitism, especially when it occurs on your campus. As an educational leader, you have the moral obligation to speak out.

The Poisonous Fruit of Edward Said

There are people whose names are sacrosanct in the halls of academia and the hallowed halls of DC insiders. One of them is the cultural jihadist Edward Said. I have attacked his fallacious Islamist narrative repeatedly at Atlas.

Why? Because the evil of Said's propaganda infects all levels of learning and "global perspectives". Check out the profile of Shampa Biswas, Associate Professor of Politics at Whitman College. "In this regard, Biswas is as much instigator as educator in her academic life. 'A lot of what I do in my classes is to confuse frames to see elements in a new light,' she said. 'It’s a stretch for many students, but education should be a stretch. I’m not telling students to accept or excuse anything. I’m asking them to think through something — broadly, deeply and, for me, globally.'" Remember: these Islamic propagandists are teaching your children.

There was a moment, an episode, in Shampa Biswas’ life as a graduate student when the center no longer held and the way she considered the world changed, fundamentally and inexorably. It occurred in the space of 432 pages of a book by Edward Said called “Orientalism.”

In the book, Said observes that the panoramic view of the East by scholars in the West has essentially painted half of the world into a corner. He urges that “narrative” replace “vision” in any interpretation of a geography and its people. “Vision” classifies and labels. “Narrative” records and critically assesses the variety and dynamic nature of human experience.

“Said’s book was truly transformative, one of those ‘aha!’ moments,” said Biswas, associate professor of politics at Whitman. “It was eye-opening to see how literature, which I dearly love, has been complicit in perpetuating inequality in the world.”

More important in the context of her teaching was Said’s insight that all knowledge is political. “It opens up the pedagogic possibility of also thinking of knowledge as politically liberating,” she said.

Biswas uses “Orientalism” in her “Alternative Voices” class. With each fresh reading of the book, “new windows” open in her teaching. Said’s call for critical analysis — part and parcel of the learning experience at Whitman — is precisely the petition Biswas delivers to her students.

“Not every moment in the classroom is transformative, of course, but as a teacher, you always hope to bring knowledge that will generate that spark of enlightenment,” she said. “I really savor those moments.” Biswas recognizes both the influence and responsibility that come with her job. Honesty as an educator demands that the educator be forever a learner, she maintains.

“I never felt a calling to teach, but I knew why it appealed to me soon after I started,” she said. “Teaching keeps me intellectually curious and productive in useful ways. My students are exceptional in many respects, and I learn a great deal from them. They challenge me to think in new ways about texts that I have read and thought about many times over.”

Scary, right? 

And how does  Biswas view the "empire" America? Check out her convocation address back in 2007 - evil in prose.

The bipartisan report was titled “Defending Civilization: How our Universities are Failing America and What can be done about it?” The report, whose ostensible goal was the restoration of “the legacy of freedom and democracy” in U.S. higher education institutions, lists 115 specific instances of dissent to the war on terror from around 50 campuses across the country, and condemns U.S. academics for both their own lack of patriotism and the failure to cultivate the same in young students.

A couple more events from recent years. In the name of restoring “an academic bill of rights”, former Marxist turned right wing commentator, David Horowitz has launched a campaign against what has been described as “the stranglehold of progressive politics on university campuses” (Larkin, 2004), a campaign that has involved identifying “the 101 Most Dangerous Academics in America” (an appellation I regret to inform no member of this distinguished faculty has earned, but not for lack of trying). A founder and director of the Middle East Forum and a former member of the board of the very influential U.S. Institute of Peace, Daniel Pipes has founded the organization Campus Watch, whose explicit purpose is to compile dossiers and publicly malign on their website “unpatriotic” academics who oppose U.S. or Israeli foreign policy, especially with regard to the Middle East. More recently, a conservative alum at the University of California at Los Angeles started a nonprofit group to combat “U.C.L.A.’s continued slide into political partisanship and indoctrination” by enumerating a “Dirty Thirty” list of professors whose leftist leanings he found particularly troubling. This alum offered to pay students for taping and documenting what those professors said in their classrooms – an event which generated national news media attention and put many academics around the country on guard.

Here we are, you – eager, bright, highly accomplished students ready to embark on your college careers with passion and energy and us, educators – scholars, thinkers, dedicated teachers ready to engage you in a life of the mind. What could be at stake in this intellectual enterprise that is deemed so risky, so threatening to engage the energies of all these highly connected, well-funded, groups and people with substantial political influence in today’s world?What are the stakes of reading, writing, thinking and reflecting in a place such as this which might some day perhaps earn you too the disfavor of some powerful group, some set of vested interests? As we convoke today this journey into knowledge, it may be worth asking, what are the stakes of becoming an intellectual?

Like Obama? I think not.

I ask this question no doubt with a certain utopian vision of the academy in mind, a vision that celebrated Nigerian poet and novelist Ben Okri describes as “a place for self-perfection…for the highest education in life”, a place that “engages endless generations in profound and perpetual discovery…The purpose…to deepen the spirit, to make more profound the sensitivities of the individual to the universe, and to become more creative” (Okri, 1995). And I speak with some concern as I see this utopian vision under onslaught not just from the political witch-hunting I mentioned above or the intrusions into academic freedom by a heavy-handed Patriot Act, but also the increasing corporatization of academia, as universities and colleges become what Stanley Aronowitz (2000) has called “knowledge factories” and David Noble (2001) “diploma mills”, places where educators are simply service providers, students consumers and education a commodity whose content and value is to determined by the imperatives of the market. As students at elite institutions such as this, students at whose service enormous resources are being deployed by parents, the college, donors, the government and always, always (remember this because this is the easiest to forget) the invisible subsidy provided by the undervalued labor

Ibn Warraq, Defending the West: A Reading and Book Signing

Celebrated Muslim apostate and Koranic scholar Ibn Warraq discussed his new book, Defending the West: A Critique of Edward Said's Orientalism at the Columbia University Bookstore.

As Martin Kramer has pointed out, Said admitted in the afterword of the 1994 edition of Orientalism that "I have no interest in, much less capacity for, showing what the true Orient and Islam really are." In other words, Said was not interested in advancing scholarship, but only anti-Western polemical screeds, being mostly content with hurling vitriolic and malicious invective against past and present Orientalists.......

Andrew Bostom writes: Ibn Warraq reminds us, unapologetically, of what cultural jihadists like Tariq (Taqiyya) Ramadan (Above) would destroy, and “establish” in its place.

Ibn_warraq_002 A culture [i.e., Western]  that gave the world the novel; the music of Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert; and the paintings of Michelangelo, da Vinci, and Rembrandt does not need lessons from societies whose idea of heaven, peopled with female virgins, resembles a cosmic brothel. Nor does the West need lectures on the superior virtue of societies in which women are kept in subjection under sharia, endure genital mutilation, are stoned to death for alleged adultery, and are married off against their will at the age of nine; societies that deny the rights of supposedly lower castes; societies that execute homosexuals and apostates. The West has no use for sanctimonious homilies from societies that cannot provide clean drinking water or sewage systems, that make no provisions for the handicapped, and that leave 40 to 50 percent of their citizens illiterate.

Fjordman wrote of Warraq's deconstruction of Said's argument:

Ibn Warraq's book was written as a response to Edward Said's deeply flawed, but highly influential Orientalism from 1979. Said chastised Western countries for their supposed racist and stereotypical view of "the Other." Ibn Warraq dubs Said's methods "intellectual terrorism" and demonstrates the logical inconsistencies of his positions:

"To argue his case, Said very conveniently leaves out the important contributions of German Orientalists, for their inclusion would destroy – and their exclusion does indeed totally destroy - the central thesis of Orientalism, that all Orientalists produced knowledge that generated power, and that they colluded and helped imperialists found empires. As we shall see, German Orientalists were the greatest of all scholars of the Orient, but, of course, Germany was never an imperial power in any of the Oriental countries of North Africa or the Middle East. [Bernard] Lewis wrote, '[A]t no time before or after the imperial age did [the British and French] contribution, in range, depth, or standard, match the achievement of the great centers of Oriental studies in Germany and neighbouring countries. Indeed, any history or theory of Arabic studies in Europe without the Germans makes as much sense as would a history or theory of European music or philosophy with the same omission.' Would it have made sense for German Orientalists to produce work that could help only England and France in their empire building?"

Despite its many serious historical and logical shortcomings, Said's thesis was eagerly embraced by many intellectuals:

"Post-World War II Western intellectuals and leftists were consumed by guilt for the West's colonial past and continuing colonialist present, and they wholeheartedly embraced any theory or ideology that voiced or at least seemed to voice the putatively thwarted aspirations of the peoples of the third world. Orientalism came at the precise time when anti-Western rhetoric was at its most shrill and was already being taught at Western universities, and when third-worldism was at its most popular. Jean-Paul Sartre preached that all white men were complicit in the exploitation of the third world, and that violence against Westerners was a legitimate means for colonized men to re-acquire their manhood. Said went further: 'It is therefore correct that every European, in what he could say about the Orient, was consequently a racist, an imperialist, and almost totally ethnocentric.' Not only, for Said, is every European a racist, but he must necessarily be so."

Moreover, "Where the French presence lasted fewer than four years before they were ignominiously expelled by the British and Turks, the Ottomans had been the masters of Egypt since 1517, a total of 280 years. Even if we count the later British and French protectorates, Egypt was under WesternDefending_the_west control for sixty-seven years, Syria for twenty-one years, and Iraq for only fifteen – and, of course, Saudi Arabia was never under Western control. Contrast this with southern Spain, which was under the Muslim yoke for 781 years, Greece for 381 years, and the splendid new Christian capital that eclipsed Rome – Byzantium – which is still in Muslim hands. But no Spanish or Greek politics of victimhood apparently exist."

Paul Fregosi confirms this in Jihad in the West: "Western colonization of nearby Muslim lands lasted 130 years, from the 1830s to the 1960s. Muslim colonization of nearby European lands lasted 1300 years, from the 600s to the mid-1960s. Yet, strangely, it is the Muslims…who are the most bitter about colonialism and the humiliations to which they have been subjected; and it is the Europeans who harbor the shame and the guilt. It should be the other way around."

Some observers now think Europeans should feel grateful for Muslim colonization of their lands. Joan Acocella wrote a review of David Levering Lewis' book God's Crucible: Islam and the Making of Europe, 570-1215. Lewis is a two-time winner of the prestigious Pulitzer Prize. According to Acocella, he thinks Muslims "did Europe a favor by invading. This is not a new idea, but Lewis takes it further: he clearly regrets that the Arabs did not go on to conquer the rest of Europe." This was "one of the most significant losses in world history."

Warraq explains how Charles Wilkins became perhaps first Englishman to master Sanskrit, and in 1783 translated the important work Bhagavat Gita. Scholar Sushil Kumar De "praised Wilkins for bringing Bengali literature into the era of printing. Wilkins being a 'metallurgist, engraver, founder, and printer' of such elaborate and different alphabets as Persian and Bengali has already been noted. Wilkins's achievements were summed up in 1922 by the Indian scholar Shumbhoo Chander Dey, who highlighted Wilkins's contributions to Indian epigraphy. It must be emphasized that Wilkins was the first European to study Sanskrit inscriptions that had baffled even the Hindu scholars. His introduction of the art of printing to Bengal was also of specific importance, endearing him to thousands of Indians."

A digression: I am under the impression that printing was introduced surprisingly late in India. Islamic religious resistance slowed down the adoption of printing everywhere. However, even prior to the Islamic conquests the spread of printing was slow. Moreover, one of the few good things Muslims did in India was to increase the use of paper. Why were non-Muslims Indians so slow to appreciate the value of paper and book printing, surely two of the greatest inventions China has ever made? This becomes even more puzzling if we remember that the development of printing in China was intimately connected with Buddhism, a religion exported from India. Indeed, printing was so closely associated with Buddhism in Japan that for nearly eight hundred years, until contact with Europeans in the sixteenth century, the Japanese printed only Buddhist scriptures. Was the Indian reluctance caused by caste? Were the Brahmins afraid that their privileged hereditary position would be undermined by the spread of printing? I don't know, but it's an interesting subject.

Sir William Jones was a brilliant linguist who is said to have known thirteen languages well, and twenty-eight fairly well, at the time of his death. According to Ibn Warraq, "With his work on Indian chronology, and having created a solid framework for the understanding of India's past, Jones, in effect, can be considered the father of Indian history. Jones's translation of Sacontala (Shakuntala) had an enormous influence in Europe, inspiring Schiller, Novalis, Schlegel, and Goethe, who used its introductory scene as a model for the 'Vorspiel auf dem Theater' of Faust (1797). But even more remarkably, the collection, printing, and translations of Sanskrit texts by Jones and other Orientalists made available for the first time to Indians themselves aspects of their own civilization, changing forever their own self-image. Until now, these texts had only been accessible to a narrow coterie of Brahmins."

Professor A. L. Basham had praised the small band of Western scholars who labored to reveal India's past. Most of them met the expenses of their research out of their own pockets: "The main motive in most of their minds seems to have been the study of India for its own sake. When Jones translated Sakuntala and thus introduced the Sanskrit drama to the western world, are we to believe that he consciously thought: 'I am doing this in order that my country may dominate a subject people'? Could any such motive have been in the mind of James Prinsep, when he deciphered the inscriptions of Asoka? Was Colebrooke inspired in his pioneering work on the Veda chiefly by motives of patriotism? If these scholars had worked to serve their country or the [East India] Company in their spare time they could surely have found more effective ways of doing so."

Ibn Warraq writes that "As [Professor] Kejariwal laments, Indians, unaware of the importance of historical remains, had left them to crumble and decay, a fact attested to by the British Orientalists. Similarly, many manuscripts would have been lost but for the efforts of scholars such as Charles Wilkins and the German Johann Georg Bühler, who salvaged severely damaged manuscripts of the rare Sanskrit historical work Rajatarangini. Similarly, Prinsep's tenure in the Asiatic Society 'was full of achievements in retrieving, restoring and trying to preserve the ancient historical monuments of the country. Among these were the Sarnath remains and the Allahabad pillar which yielded such significant information about Asoka and Samudragupta – two of the greatest monarchs of India, and in fact, of the world.'"

An emblem associated with Asoka (or Ashoka) the Great is now the national emblem of India, yet he was virtually forgotten until the British got there. (more here)

Syracuse Legitimizing Islamic (Shariah) Law

To insert islamic law (shariah) in the same sentence  as "humanitarian" law is so patently dishonest and dangerous and bad enough, but a conference that attempts to put the two together is criminal. It is propaganda under the guise of education.

What deception! This is taqiyya, lies to advance Islam. Who is underwriting this? What petrosheikdom is Syracuse whoring itself out for? Or is this part of OIC compliance in league with the Alliance of Civilizations? Islamic law ...think taliban. Think stoning, public hangings of gays, honor killings, clitorectomies, beheading, death penalties for apostasy and hypocrisy, (and reinterpreting the  Koran), shariah finance, child marriage, marital rape, death to rape victims.....

Islamic law should be crushed, extinguished from the pages of modern history - relegated to seventh century barbarism.

Overview: The Islam-IHL initiative examines from multiple perspectives the ongoing role of Islam, including Islamic leaders, in International Humanitarian Law (IHL), and the potential of that contribution for contending with new forms of warfare and international conflicts. The goal of the Workshop is to begin identifying the most pressing issues at the intersection of Islamic jurisprudence and humanitarian law and to consider how their shared concerns may prompt creativity in addressing troubling gaps in IHL today—notably, the lack of standards for dealing with the rise of irregular armies, or the inability of the law to accommodate asymmetric forms of attacks by non-state entities against sovereign states.

Topics for Discussion will likely include the role of culturally and religiously-based legal norms and their authoritative sources for limiting armed conflict’s effects on victims; the meaning of asymmetry from the perspective of the weaker party; conflicting and even incompatible notions of legitimacy and defense in military actions; and the role of universal human rights standards in relation to culture and conflict.

Approach: The bodies of law under consideration are “living traditions,” to paraphrase the 8th century jurist al-Awzai’s view of Islamic law, the uninterrupted, intergenerational practice of adapting approved legal precepts to contemporary circumstances. This view rebuts the tendency to reduce Western and Islamic legal traditions to static or monolithic constructs by recognizing each as complex, dynamic, and plural (made up of sub-traditions). Given the inherent complexity of this subject across traditional disciplines and practice areas (i.e., international humanitarian, military, legal, and policy communities) an interdisciplinary approach and sustained collaboration for advancing knowledge on this pressing topic is necessary.

Objective: The resulting analysis from the Islam-IHL initiative will lay the groundwork for engaging a larger community of practitioners and scholars in understanding the relationship between IHL and Islamic law for internationally viable approaches to present-day asymmetric challenges—including those involving Islamic groups or states.

Research questions:

· What role does Islam play in international laws and norms for conducting warfare and why do some consider Islamic law an alternative to IHL?

· Does incorporating primary and secondary Islamic sources foster a different understanding and legal interpretation of key IHL provisions and its present challenges today?

· What shared or divergent visions and precepts underlie IHL and Islamic attempts to humanize warfare?

· Do Islamic doctrines of warfare have lessons for contemporary conflict settings, asymmetric warfare, non-state belligerents, present gaps in IHL, or the relationship between Jus in bello and Jus ad bellum?

· Are contesting interpretations of Islamic law enabling Islamist interpretations of warfare and the use of violence for social and political change?

· What would a productive synthesis look like between Islamic jurisprudence and IHL that humanizes war while preserving state’s sovereignty, a balance central to the universal acceptance of IHL?

Professor Fired for Defending Israel Loses Court Case

Another one ends badly for free men. Very very badly. Back in late 2005 I posted on the egregious abuse suffered by De Paul university professor Thomas Klocek (this from Phyllis Chesler at the time):

Then there is the 2004 case of De Paul university professor Thomas Klocek. Professor Klocek, who had taught at De Paul University for fifteen years, visited a student fair on campus and engaged in dialogue with some Muslim student supporters of Hamas and Islamic Jihad. He defended Israel. He questioned whether Rachel Corrie had indeed been murdered in cold blood and whether Israelis were really treating Palestinians in the same way that Hitler treated the Jews -- as the Muslim students’ literature and posters claimed. He insisted that “the Israeli Armed Forces have exercised very careful restraint in their responses to what has been almost daily suicide bombings.” Whereupon eight students descended on the single professor. A verbal melee ensued. Despite their clear superiority in numbers, the students donned the garb of victims, complaining that they were “harassed” and "threatened.” They further alleged that Klocek had made “racist remarks.” The students met with their advisors who alerted various administrative deans. The deans wasted no time capitulating to the student agitators. They apologized to the offended students and suspended Professor Klocek. As of this writing, a lawsuit is under way.

That was back in 2005. Today I got very bad news for Marathon Pundit:

Judge throws out Thomas Klocek case against DePaul--appeal planned

This one hurts. A lot.

On September 15, 2004, longtime DePaul University adjunct Professor Thomas Klocek took part in a spirited out-of-classroom discussion with some Muslim DePaul students over Palestinian-Israeli political issues. Klocek defended Israeli actions against terrorists; the students, unaccustomed to having their views challenged, complained to his dean and succeeded in having Klocek dismissed from the Catholic college after 15 years of service.

The Chicago native had always received high evaluation scores from his students.

Klocek filed a defamation and invasion of privacy suit against DePaul a year later. The first two judges assigned to the case ruled that it should proceed to trial. But last month--four years after Klocek sued--Cook County Circuit Court Judge Charles Winkler dismissed the case.

Andy Norman of Chicago's Mauck & Baker is Klocek's attorney--he plans to appeal. Norman stated, "We believe that Winkler is in error and are confident we will have his decision reversed in the appellate court. We still look forward to a public trial where DePaul students and the public can judge for themselves whether certain administrators silenced Tom Klocek because a few Muslim activists wanted his opinions repressed."

I've spoken to Klocek many times about the events of September 15, 2004 and I'm firmly convinced that DePaul trashed his academic career to placate a noisy group of students who view themselves, wrongly, as a protected class.

… Klocek, who is Catholic, not Jewish, confronted a group of 8 students manning two tables for the groups Students for Justice in Palestine, and United Muslims Moving Ahead. Klocek says he argued that the materials the groups were disseminating were one-sided. On this, he is indisputably correct. Neither group pretends to provide balanced information on the Israeli Palestinian conflict. That of course, is perfectly understandable and acceptable. These are advocacy groups.

During his cafeteria confrontation with the students, Klocek did not identify himself as a professor at the school. He did not know any of the students, and had not had any of them in a class. After realizing that the argument needed to end, Klocek started to walk off. One student then asked if he taught at DePaul, and if so, what classes. The students followed Klocek, eager to continue arguing with him. He signaled he was done with the debate by thumbing his chin, meant to indicate, he says, enough already. The Muslim students later claimed this gesture was obscene.

For his behavior in this brief debate with the students, Klocek, a popular long-time DePaul professor, has lost his job, his health benefits, and has been smeared and humiliated by the University administration.

It has gotten so bad that Klocek has even been told not to pray at the campus chapel, which he formerly did regularly during his DePaul teaching stint. Such is the retribution of a Catholic University for a [Catholic] professor who has taken the risk of challenging the established mindset at DePaul on the subject of Israel and the Palestinians. Please look at the original post written in 2006. There are links to other degrading things that De Paul has done — for example, the story of their censorship of students who protested Ward Churchill’s appearance on campus. And I compare the slant-by-omission that the MSM [in this case, the Chicago Tribune] did in reporting the story with the American Thinker’s full version of what really happened.

I’ve been checking with other outlets to see if this latest development is being carried. Perhaps Andrea Shea King will interview Professor Klocek again, as she did back then. Maybe bigger blogs will move the story along.

Academic jihad has continued apace since Professor Klocek first spoke up. The drive to shut up anyone who does not agree with the multi-cultural, Saudi-funded point of view is, if anything, in higher gear than it was during his fateful encounter with the Muslim students.

AUSTRALIA: Muslim Students Demand Multi-faith rooms be declared Muslim-only

Imposing their Islam on western societies. This is the strategy of the OIC (Organization of the Islamic Conference) and The Muslim Brotherhood Project.

There are no footbaths in Muslim countries, or special prayer rooms. This is Islamic supremacism in action. Defer to Islam -- you will submit.

AUSTRALIAN universities are responsible for providing quality education, not consecrated religious spaces, according to a university involved in a bitter dispute over Muslim prayer rooms.

Dozens of Islamic students plan to protest today to demand that a dedicated Muslim prayer room replace an existing multi-faith centre at Melbourne's RMIT.

But acting pro vice-chancellor Maddy McMaster said it was not for universities to provide consecrated religious spaces.

"A university's responsibility to its students is to provide them with a quality education," she said. "Recognising that the educational experience is not confined to the classroom, RMIT offers other services, including prayer rooms. It falls to religious communities to provide the consecrated spaces."

But Dr McMaster said the university already provided a number of prayer rooms for Muslim students across all its campuses. "It is difficult to see how we can improve on eight Muslim prayer rooms, with one more opening, as well as providing Muslim students with preferential access to two prayer rooms in the multi-faith Spiritual Centre," she said.

"(Universities) should provide quality resources for those who choose a spiritual path. But as a secular institution, such resources do not include consecrated spaces such as churches, synagogues or mosques."

NUS president David Barrow said the demand for Muslim prayer rooms was increasing and space was a problem. "With the influx of international students from Muslim countries, the Muslim prayer rooms haven't been able to cope with the load," he said.

An influx of international students from Muslim countries? Good luck with that.

JIHAD JUNTA ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES

More disgracefully, they attacked the speaker, screaming accusations of war crimes, hurling curses in Arabic and English, shouting down the speaker every time he attempted to answer their off-topic questions. One SJP member shouted, “If Hamas is not supposed to throw rockets on Sderot, then where should they throw them?” Apparently he and his peers had never considered the possibility that Hamas should end its violence." How many tens of thousands a year are you spending marinading your children's heads in this toxic brew? How many tens of thousands of your taxpayer dollars are being spent marinading foreign students, scammers, less affluent, poor students in this hate and incitement to Jewish genocide?

Robert Spencer is to speak at Washington University in St. Louis today and already the thugs have promised a pogrom:

The editorial is called "In response to inflammatory speech, listen and question." It's in Student Life, March 23 (thanks to Jeffrey Imm). And in response to this inflammatory editorial, I'm going to listen and question.

On Campus: The Pro-Palestinian's Real Agenda Khaled Abu Toameh

During a recent visit to several university campuses in the U.S., I discovered that there is more sympathy for Hamas there than there is in Ramallah.

Listening to some students and professors on these campuses, for a moment I thought I was sitting opposite a Hamas spokesman or a would-be-suicide bomber.

I was told, for instance, that Israel has no right to exist, that Israel’s “apartheid system” is worse than the one that existed in South Africa and that Operation Cast Lead was launched only because Hamas was beginning to show signs that it was interested in making peace and not because of the rockets that the Islamic movement was launching at Israeli communities.

I was also told that top Fatah operative Marwan Barghouti, who is serving five life terms in prison for masterminding terror attacks against Israeli civilians, was thrown behind bars simply because he was trying to promote peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

Furthermore, I was told that all the talk about financial corruption in the Palestinian Authority was “Zionist propaganda” and that Yasser Arafat had done wonderful things for his people, including the establishment of schools, hospitals and universities.

The good news is that these remarks were made only by a minority of people on the campuses who describe themselves as “pro-Palestinian,” although the overwhelming majority of them are not Palestinians or even Arabs or Muslims.

The bad news is that these groups of hard-line activists/thugs are trying to intimidate anyone who dares to say something that they don’t like to hear.

When the self-designated “pro-Palestinian” lobbyists are unable to challenge the facts presented by a speaker, they resort to verbal abuse.

On one campus, for example, I was condemned as an “idiot” because I said that a majority of Palestinians voted for Hamas in the January 2006 election because they were fed up with financial corruption in the Palestinian Authority.

On another campus, I was dubbed as a “mouthpiece for the Zionists” because I said that Israel has a free media. There was another campus where someone told me that I was a ‘liar” because I said that Barghouti was sentenced to five life terms because of his role in terrorism.

And then there was the campus (in Chicago) where I was “greeted” with swastikas that were painted over posters promoting my talk. The perpetrators, of course, never showed up at my event because they would not be able to challenge someone who has been working in the field for nearly 30 years.

What struck me more than anything else was the fact that many of the people I met on the campuses supported Hamas and believed that it had the right to “resist the occupation” even if that meant blowing up children and women on a bus in downtown Jerusalem.

I never imagined that I would need police protection while speaking at a university in the U.S. I have been on many Palestinian campuses in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and I cannot recall one case where I felt intimidated or where someone shouted abuse at me.

Ironically, many of the Arabs and Muslims I met on the campuses were much more understanding and even welcomed my “even-handed analysis” of the Israeli-Arab conflict. After all, the views I voiced were not much different than those made by the leaderships both in Israel and the Palestinian Authority. These views include support for the two-state solution and the idea of coexistence between Jews and Arabs in this part of the world.

The so-called pro-Palestinian “junta” on the campuses has nothing to offer other than hatred and de-legitimization of Israel. If these folks really cared about the Palestinians, they would be campaigning for good government and for the promotion of values of democracy and freedom in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Their hatred for Israel and what it stands for has blinded them to a point where they no longer care about the real interests of the Palestinians, namely the need to end the anarchy and lawlessness, and to dismantle all the armed gangs that are responsible for the death of hundreds of innocent Palestinians over the past few years.

While this may be true, there is no ignoring the fact that the anti-Israel campaign on U.S. campuses is not less dangerous. What is happening on these campuses is not in the frame of freedom of speech. Instead, it is the freedom to disseminate hatred and violence. As such, we should not be surprised if the next generation of jihadists comes not from the Gaza Strip or the mountains and mosques of Pakistan and Afghanistan, but from university campuses across the U.S.

TWITTERING, LIVEBLOGGING, LIVESTREAMING THE SAUDI HATE SCHOOL HEARING LIVE

During one of the few breaks in the heated meeting due to the overflowing crowd of ISA supporters, several of those who sought to speak out against the ISA were cornered and confronted by some ISA supporters. These ISA supporters denied all of the reports by the Associated Press, the Washington Post, other media, and U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. These ISA supporters told activists that the Washington Post and other reports of ISA textbooks calling for jihad and calling Jews apes and Christians pigs - were all lies. These ISA supporters said that the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom's report criticizing ISA textbooks stating that it is permissible for Muslims to kill coverts from Islam and adulterers - was a lie. They said reports of former ISA valedictorian Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, convicted in federal court of joining Al-Qaeda and plotting to assassinate President Bush - were a lie. They said that FBI reports that former ISA student Mohammed El-Yacoubi was carrying a suicide note with what it believed was planned to be a suicide bombing attack in Israel - were a lie. According to these ISA supporters, all of the reports about the problems with ISA are nothing but lies. In this exchange, one woman ISA supporter shouted out "it is all lies" and then after discovering that one of the cornered rights activists was a Christian, stated that "the Jews killed your Jesus." Later the same woman ISA supporter reiterated that ISA does not support hate.

In Virginia, while a bullying mob declared "I Support ISA," you should know that there were fearless activists who clearly sent the message that "We Support USA," and the inalienable human rights of equality and liberty inherent in America's identity.

But citizens concerned about the spread of Islamic supremacists' threat to equality and liberty must not ignore how vastly outnumbered such activists were and continue to be in representing us in public events and before government agencies. The six activists speaking out against the Islamic supremacist nature of the Islamic Saudi Academy were outnumbered by the estimated 600 ISA supporters by nearly 100 to one. This is not the first or the last such public event where the larger consensus on equality and liberty needs greater representation.

Clearly when supporters of Islamic supremacist institutions publicly demonstrate that they can outnumber their opposition by such vast numbers, such supporters will become further emboldened and confident in their ability to influence government agencies, laws, and legislature. In the Washington DC metropolitan area, and around the nation, it is not enough to commiserate privately over our concerns about Islamic supremacism, or to think that "preaching to the choir" on shared Internet blogs and via email is really accomplishing anything.

Those who believe that we can win victories for freedom by merely marching in place and reassuring ourselves -- need to wake up. If we are not willing to get out in public to defend equality and liberty as citizen activists, we can be certain that there will be plenty of others supporting institutions and ideologies that do not respect equality and liberty who will act in public. Those who support ideologies against equality and liberty will continue to persuade the media, the government, and your neighbors -- that they represent the majority of public opinion. We cannot expect courage from our government, if we don't see courage from the public they represent.

Will you let them win? Or will you do something about it?

Defending equality and liberty is inconvenient. It takes time and commitment. It costs you money. It interferes with your life. But equality and liberty cannot be taken for granted, with the forces of supremacism that are on the march, not just in Northern Virginia, but around the nation and the world. When you consider how inconvenient it is to challenge supremacism, think about what your life would be like without equality and liberty. Think about what type of future and legacy we would leave for the children and future generations. Good intentions are never enough. Being responsible for equality and liberty means that your action is needed now.

To help in the activist focus on issues challenging equality and liberty, our organization "Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.)" at realcourage.org has listed future events where we are publicly challenging supremacism. Take the time to look for such events, and see where you can get involved with R.E.A.L. or other activist organizations, such as ACT for America.

The next time you are concerned about the growth of Islamic supremacism in foreign lands, never forget that those who seek to challenge equality and liberty are right here today in America too.

Remember those like the "Fairfax 600" that publicly supported an Islamic supremacist institution in Virginia. They are convinced that you aren't willing to publicly challenge them. They are convinced that those supporting equality and liberty either don't care or are too afraid.

But those of us responsible for equality and liberty will Fear No Evil.

UPDATE: The bottom line is the "panel" was openly hostile to the anti-sharia folks and the residents. The Saudis pulled out all the taqiyya stops -- what a charade. The most powerful was a young Irish guy who had a Muslim girlfriend (and he was testifying at risk of his lover's wrath) and his friends were mostly Muslim. He said he knew kids who attended the school and they absolutely teach hate. His remarks about getting harassed, his car keyed, sugar in his gas tank for expressing his opinions around other Muslims made an impact, though it fell on dhimmi ears.

Atlas reader and Act for America's Denise Lee is next. She is addressing traffic patterns, septic systems and well water. Land use! "As a real estate broker, I am concerned about property values". Denise is bringing up the hate taught in their textbooks and the sexual abuse cover up by the school director.

Malik Abou is speaking -- in full headdress -- spoke very briefly (two minutes?) only to flatter and thank the dhimmi panel for their "extensive" analysis and for embracing diversity. She admits that the road is narrow and dangerous but it is incumbent upon all of us to drive carefully. The main problem is "a lack of knowledge" about a particular culture. Taqiyya.

Longtime resident Hazel Rathburn speaks -- with a British lilt? Another articulate American. She describes the "disaster waiting to happen" in terms of dangerous traffic conditions. She recites a list of very bad accidents and the increased in teen/children "who love to speed". The parade of great Americans is so impressive -- this is the most striking thing. 

Longtime resident and homeowner President Kasimides (sp?) is discussing the environmental impact. Very powerful presentation by this articulate woman. Smart. Noise, septic, and brings up the valid point that the soccer field was never county approved. The panel does everything in their power to shoot holes in every presentation -- they are Saudi puppets. It's unbelievable. The mostly ISA audience applauds them and the panel member asks that they not applaud -- like, "please, don't make it so obvious that we are in your pocket". Commissioner Janet Hall is really pathetic. She looks (and sounds) like she pals around with Cindy Sheehan. Dhimmi logic.

Next: John Marino -- President of Homeowner Association -- his focus is on traffic safety. Asking panel to reject the Saudi school as a danger to traffic conditions. "Main concern is increased traffic", the "country feel" and the danger to the hair pin curve. LAND USE! Most homeowners heard about the ISA land by accident -- why? Is this something you didn't want homeowners to know?  Or was it that you didn't want to know what homeowners thought?

Next up..... Will Nance. Approaching it from a terrible traffic problem POV. Land use! Smart. "Not a safe street to build a busy school". Please vote NO.

Public hearing open, 35 speakers scheduled. James Lafferty is up. Woot! I know Traditional Family Values Coalition James and his wonderful wife Andrea. He spoke while being loudly booed. He is discussing the "Unworkability of the plan". Most important is they are teaching children to hate. The folks in the hijab are booing and threatening. Panel admonishes the hecklers. James continues...no American should be silent! Please reject the plan! GO JIM GO JIM! So proud of Jim! Crowd heckles.

The fulled covered academic director comes down to answer question on student makeup -- 65% of the students are "American citizens".

DRAMA moment -- the blond attorney asks those in the room who support the school to stand -- all the headscarves stood up. 95 percent of audience is ISA supporters.

The staff member making the positive recommendation is so in the tank she can't answer the most fundamental questions. What is the increase in number of school buses? She doesn't know. The chemicals used on a proposed soccer field? She doesn't know.

SAUDI HATE SCHOOL EXPANSION UPDATE: FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!

Brian over at Snapped Shot tells me the Fairfax campus sits on "Residential-Conservation" land. He has an extensive post on it here. Go.


Atlas and Jihad Watch have both brought to my attention that the Fairfax County Planning Commission is going to be holding a public hearing this evening on a proposed expansion to the Islamic Saudi Academy campus on Pope's Head Road. According to the Commission's agenda, the public is invited to comment on the proposal, but the decision will be made at a later date. Specifically, ISA is requesting:

SE 2008-SP-025 – ISLAMIC SAUDI ACADEMY – Appl. under Sect. 3-C04 of the Zoning Ordinance to permit building additions and associated modifications to site design and development conditions to an existing private school of general education. Located at 11101, 11115, 11121, 11123 Popes Head Rd. on approx. 34.05 ac. of land zoned R-C and WS. Tax Map 68-3 ((1)) 61, 62, 63, and 64. SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT.

This campus was purchased from Fairfax Christian School back in 1985 for $3 million dollars. The "R-C" designation referenced in the above text means that the land it sits on is "Residential-Conservation"—meaning that it is placed within a protected watershed, and may not exceed a very restrictive permanent occupancy limit.

Why, then, do I have a feeling that these exacting restrictions are suddenly going to be waived to accommodate ISA's demands "requests?"
The reason ISA is seeking to expand their Fairfax campus is that they want move out of their Alexandria building. This, of course, is pretty funny, considering that they are leasing the Alexandria campus from Fairfax County in what can only be described as a sweetheart deal.

Shoot, the original lease on that property was issued in 1988, and was only intended to last for five years.

And yet, here we are 20 years later, and they're still there.

Why the rush to "consolidate" their holdings so suddenly?

Beats me, but I do know that their website has this to say:

Please attend a public hearing to show your support of ISA’s application for a permit to build a new school on the Popeshead Road site. We encourage all parents to attend the hearing. Having more people at the hearing, in support of the project, will increase our chances of succeeding. Our lawyer and six other speakers will present our case to the Board of Supervisors. The meeting will take place at 8:15 p.m., the night of the 18th. There are two other cases scheduled for that night, so please be prepared to stay late.

We appreciate everyone’s support so much and hope that, with everyone’s help, we will soon be able to start building our new school.

Remember: This means that the Academy seeks to move all 900 students to this Residential-Conservation property.

Which is supposed to be low-occupancy in order to protect the greater Potomac River watershed.

As any homeowner in this part of town will tell you, the regulations faced on anyone owning this land are abundant and laborious.

In fact, to give you a little bit of reference, here's how Fairfax County treats Christian schools who try to make the same types expansions—From the Washington Post, 9 July 1985, Metro pg. D3 (via LexisNexis):

Robert L. Thoburn, a Christian educator and former Republican state legislator from Fairfax, yesterday lost his bid to build a Christian school for 480 students in a residential neighborhood north of Fairfax City.

Thoburn's application to build the school in a thickly wooded section of Oakton was defeated on a tie vote by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. The vote was 4 to 4, with Supervisor Joseph Alexander absent. Alexander said earlier he would have abstained on the vote because he was not present for a public hearing on the school a month ago.

...

Despite the Thoburns' charge that the decision on the school turned on political issues, Supervisor James M. Scott, a Democrat whose district includes the Oakton area, insisted that the board considered land-use issues paramount.

Scott, citing the county staff's recommendation that the Thoburn application be turned down, voted against the school. He said it did not conform to the county's master plan, which calls for single-family homes on large parcels in the area around Thoburn's land.

Scott said that Thoburn had made concessions to the county in the course of negotiations on the school, including cutting the size of the student body by about 100, but that these changes were "minor in relation to the requirements of the comprehensive plan and the zoning ordinance."

Thoburn founded the Fairfax Christian School in 1961, and until last year it was located on Pope's Head Road south of Fairfax City. Last year, the Saudi Arabian Embassy paid him $3 million for the school's old campus, and Thoburn moved into rented quarters in two Baptist churches on Ox Road south of Fairfax City.

As you can see, even back in the days when this County was more Republican than it is today, the Board was hostile towards Christian schools.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that you can go into any church within Fairfax County and ask how their experience with the various County governmental agencies has been, and hear endless amounts of horror stories.

Mandatory (and expensive) traffic studies for any request to expand expansions. Outright denials of requests to expand parking lots to accomodate large congregations. Frequent and stringent inspections for code violations, which frequently result in citations for extremely minor infractions.

The list goes on.

The school deleted from its texts some of the most contentious passages, including references to Jihad, killing infidels and hatred of Jews and Christians.

But critics say the books are still "toxic" and contain more subtle references, such as criticism of secular forms of government.

Ali Al-Ahmed, director of the Gulf Institute, which has been pressing the school to make revision since 2004, told FOX News that the textbooks characterize secular governments as "committing unbelief and allowing us to wage war against them."

"So you're teaching American students -- implanting the seeds of insurgency in these people -- and this is very dangerous," Al-Ahmed said.

He added that the textbooks teach girls that they should not aspire to be judges or political leaders and when a girl gets married, she must ask her husband if she wants to leave the house.

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom says it wants to look at the books but the Saudi government, which funds the academy, won't give the panel a copy.

"We can't figure out what the Saudi government has to hide and why they continually keep these secrets," said Felice Gaer, chairwoman of the commission.

Gaer's panel released a 2008 report commissioned by the U.S. Congress which stated the school's earlier textbooks contained several troubling passages, including one that claims it is permissible for Muslims to kill adulterers and converts from Islam, and another that claims "the Jews conspired against Islam and its people."

Gaer said the State Department should translate the textbooks and determine whether they encourage violence, which would be against the law.

The Islamic Saudi Academy developed new Islamic studies textbooks for all grades after a 2008 congressional report called portions of the previous editions troubling.

There is a serious issue related to radical Islamic Wahabbists gaining a greater foothold in Fairfax/Fairfax County. 

On Wednesday March 18th, at 8:15pm there will be a very important Fairfax County Planning Commission meeting to hear from the public about the Islamic Saudi Academy (ISA)’s request to expand their Shariah based school. 

The ISA wants to replace the current building on the property with a very large two-story structure which will give them 10 times the square footage they have presently. There will be a place to meet and pray for student use only—this will be a mosque.

The Islamic Saudi Academy (ISA), founded, funded, and controlled by the Saudi Government, seeks to expand its school in Fairfax on Popes Head Road.  Currently the ISA has two locations , an upper grade school near Ft Belvoir/Mt Vernon  and a lower grade school in Fairfax.  The Wahabbists want to consolidate all 900 (and growing) students at the Fairfax location. 

At the center of the controversy are the school’s curriculum and the crimes committed by those who attended or worked at the ISA:

  • Ismail Selim Elbarasse served as an accountant at ISA for 14 years before he was arrested for videotaping bridge structures including the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in August, 2004. On the day of his arrest, he was also named as an “unindicted co-conspirator” for laundering money on behalf of the American affiliate of Hamas.
  • Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, an ISA valedictorian, is serving a thirty-year prison sentence for providing material support to Al-Qaeda and plotting to assassinate President G.W. Bush.
  • Abdalla I. Al-Shabnan, Director General (Principal) ISA, was arrested by Fairfax police in June, 2008 for obstruction of justice and failing to report a case of child sexual abuse involving a five year old girl at the Popes Head campus.  Al-Shabnan was fined $500.

§  Mohammed El-Yacoubi and Mohammed Osman Idris, were denied entry into Israel when authorities there found El-Yacoubi carrying what the FBI believed was a suicide note linked to a planned martyrdom operation in Israel.

There is a pattern of anti-American, anti-Semitic and anti-Christian activity at the Islamic Saudi Academy.  The curriculum sanctions murder against Jews, adulterers, homosexuals, and converts from Islam—for all other Americans these would be considered crimes.

Each time the ISA gets caught and there is a new flare-up over the hate taught at the ISA, the school “fixes” the curriculum a little.  In anticipation of this zoning request, Planning Commission hearings and then the full Board hearing , the ISA has once again claimed they have altered their textbooks.  However, while the Islamic Saudi Academy deleted some of the most contentious passages from the texts, copies provided to The Associated Press show that enough sensitive material remains to fuel critics who claim the books show intolerance toward those who do not follow strict interpretations of Islamic Shariah.

Because this school is operated by the Saudi government, it teaches from the Wahabbist Saudi texts provided by the Saudi Ministry of Education.  Just as an American school overseas teaches “American” curriculum such as the Revolutionary War, our Presidents and major holidays--this school teaches Wahabbist curriculum.

Just a Glimpse of What is Taught

  • 15 of the 19 hijackers on September 11th were Saudi--educated in schools just like the ISA with Wahabbist curriculum.

·         Islam teaches that Jews are apes, the keepers of the Sabbath; while the swine are the Christian infidels of the communion of Jesus.

  • The Saudi Ministry of Education texts have taught young people that peaceful coexistence with so-called “infidels” is unattainable and that violence to spread Islam is not only permissible, but an obligation.  It encourages violence toward others, and misguides the pupils into believing that in order to safeguard their own religion; they must violently repress and even physically eliminate the other.
  • It is permissible for a Muslim to kill an apostate (a convert from Islam), an adulterer, or someone who has murdered a believer intentionally: “He (praised is He) prohibits killing the soul that God has forbidden (to kill) unless for just cause…”  Just cause is then defined in the text as “unbelief after belief, adultery, and killing an inviolable believer intentionally.” (Tafsir, Arabic/Sharia, 123)
  • Jihad in the path of God – which consists of battling against unbelief, oppression, injustice, and those who perpetrate it – is the summit of Islam. This religion arose through jihad and through jihad was its banner raised high. It is one of the noblest acts, which brings one closer to God, and one of the most magnificent acts of obedience to God.

·         When is battle jihad in the path of God? … To fulfill an order from God,sacrifice in His path, spread the creed of monotheism, defend the realms of Islam and Muslims, and raise up the word of God. This is jihad in the path of God.

What You Can Do!

Fairfax County Supervisor Pat Herrity, (Republican) who represents Fairfax, seems to be working to help this school--as are most others.  We need people to come and speak --(and pray!)  Last year we worked on this issue but the focus was the Islamic Saudi Academy upper grade school in Alexandria and the renewal of their lease for the old Mt Vernon High School.  Darci Nelson testified--and did a good job. 

Again, we need people to attend.   Most who attend can just be a presence and pray.  Those who like to testify can do so.  My husband Jim and I will help with testimony preparation.    Last year, when I registered to testify I was the only one.  When we arrived (grp of 5) we were well out numbered.  Jim was viciously attacked by Chairman Connelly (now Congressman) who repeatedly accused him (and the rest of us) of slander.

Wahabbists are colonizing many areas of Northern Virginia.   America’s history can be described as waves of immigrants coming to our shores seeking liberty and freedom.  The Wahabbists come to America and immediately conspire to reduce our liberty and freedom and impose their brutal Islamic Shariah law—and using our very laws against us to do this.    This is the difference between them and other immigrants.

And he explained that it is acceptable for Muslims to convert Pagans by force - pagans being those people who have not found any god.

It worked! Better than I could have dreamed, might I add! How can I thank you? How can I thank your readers? They emailed, and phoned, in DROVES!

Everything below is pieced together from memory of the conversation.

I received a phone call from Brian Copp this afternoon. He was courteous, and started the conversation by simply stating that I have brought national attention to the situation in Kiril Petkov's classroom. He said that they have been receiving messages from all across the country in admonishment against the school. I couldn't help but smile. :)

He asked me, why had I not decided to approach the University first? I told him, point blankly - this is not the first time I have been wronged at this University. The first time I had tried to file a grievance report on a professor, I had hit blockade after blockade. I remarked about how well defended these bad professors are here, but the problem isn't simply UWRF - but Universities spanning the country. Why should I bother approaching anyone at the University when I already know the outcome? What good could come from that? What changes will be made that way? So, I told him, this is why I went to the media.

He sounded quiet - surprised at my resolve. He asked me if I would come in and meet with him and E. Craig Morris (assistant to the Chancellor) and discuss the matter. I asked him, what good would that do? You will simply try to make the claim that I misinterpreted Petkov's words when I did NOT.. You will tell me I heard him wrong, or that it didn't happen when it DID. He admits that it is my word against Petkov's word. He asks - so you will not speak with us? I changed my mind. I said, I'll speak to you about the state of the University system, and about student rights for a decent education.

We set a date. He invited me to bring a friend. By friend - perhaps he means my mommy, or a student. Perhaps he's smart enough to know I might consider bringing in a reporter, or a lawyer. I'm not sure yet - but I have a little over a week to decide!

 I just read two highly disturbing posts on the nationally-known blog Atlas  Shrugs concerning one of the professors at your university (see here and here)

As an alumnus (Class of 91), I have to say that, if the allegations >> outlined in both blog postings against Professor Petkov and Professor Bergland are true, education at UWRF has declined since I graduated from there.

When I was a student at UW-RF, I was studying Biology and Conservation. I > wasn't the world's best student, but what I remember was an almost total lack of political ideology in my professors when it came to class  lectures  and the like. When you went to class, you were given both sides of a  story, and were allowed to form your own opinions based on that  knowledge.

Now, sadly, it seems that UW-RF has jumped on the bandwagon of political correctness and liberal ideology, as well as converting an introductory History Class (History 101 - From the Origins of Civilizations to 1500) >> into something more akin to an introductory Theology class. Granted, professors of all stripes will inject their own views in their teachings - this is unavoidable - but to have a professor who is teaching a general >> overview class regarding history inject little anecdotes about Jesus being  a 'clone' and Jews believing it because 'Jews are stupid', or having a  professor of Recent U.S. History from 1945 to the Present showing such >anti-American sentiment as is outlined in Ms Montgomery's e-mails to  Pamela Geller is outrageous.

Until today, I proudly displayed a UW-RF Alumni sticker on the back window of my car. I have removed said sticker because of the embarrassment I feel that a school I was proud of, a school which certainly seemed to value discussion and 'seeing-both-sides-of-the-argument', has sunk as low as this.

HIST 101: From the Origins of Civilizations to 1500

One assignment is a book review paper. From his syllabus:

"Recommended paperbacks to be used for the paper if you want to write one:

I am a senior here at this little University. I'm majoring in History with a Philosophy emphasis.

You should know what is going on. I am quickly running out of the will to fight, and my spirit is crushed. I decided to write to you first about this, then figure out what I am going to do about it later.

I am taking a history class on ancient history. This week, the theme has been Islam. At first, I thought it was a good thing. It is important for people to be educated on the basics of Islam. I was feeling frustrated when there was less emphasis on the historical perspective of Islam. The emphasis has really been introduction of the theology involved here.

This morning, the class was discussing Islam with the professor to help us really remember the key words, terms, concepts, etc. It didn't take long for me to realize what is really going on. I started scribbling down quotes from my professor, desperately trying to capture his words verbatim. I will share them with you now to the best of my ability.

In a discussion about the terms Orthopraxic and "Orthotoxic"(I'm not sure what this is), he said: "If you decide to convert to Islam - expect that you will be asked to 'do'"

In a discussion involving Orthodox Judaism, he said: "Jew will throw some rotten egg on your car" [If you drive a car on the Sabbath day] and:

"You will be stoned on the Sabbath day if you work on the Sabbath day"

In his explanation that Allah is the source of all good and all evil, he said: "He is the only power there is..."

In his explanation about the belief that the prophet Jesus was replaced by a clone in order to fool the Jews, he said the plan worked: "Because the Jews are stupid!" ***This was met by laughter from the students, and my appalled look of horror. I started scribbling down this quote, and he noticed me, then clarifies: "Don't take this as a slur against the Jewish people. It is a part of the Muslim tradition."

In his explanation of the dhimmis, I asked him a question: "What is done with atheists and agnostics then?" He says: "Atheists do not exist in the ancient time period." and, "People do not have the cognitive ability to be atheists..." and, "Okay, maybe there is 5 atheists." and, "There is no place in the world where atheism was the social norm." And he explained that it is acceptable for Muslims to convert Pagans by force - pagans being those people who have not found any god.

THIS IS HAPPENING IN THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN - RIVER FALLS

Pamela, I am an atheist writing to you as an Israel sympathizer. I felt the urge to throw up when he declared the Jews are stupid.

No student should be taught such utter garbage and be forced to sit there and listen to such ignorant racism.

Please start writing and calling. If he has tenure, then the kids are screwed, but at least we can shut him up.

On day one she had every student introduce themselves AND state their thoughts on Obama's inauguration. I was embarrassed, and said that while I was glad to see the racial barrier broken, I was not happy at all with Obama. All of her classes have been critical of the United States, and sympathetic to the USSR and Cuba, etc. I decided to drop the class (haven't dropped it yet) after researching Joseph McCarthy for my research paper - and coming to the realization that no matter how well it's written, or how well I follow the guidelines, I will fail that assignment due to her bias.

STATE MANDATED CHILD ABUSE: "And why a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender month, anyway? Why not a Foot Fetishists, Spankers, Sadists and Masochists History Month?"

Once again we are confronting an attack on individual rights, parents' rights and the imposition of special class rule over the individual. And while this is the UK, the political elites in the US and most certainly President One Worlder are hypnotized by the failed Euro model.

This echoes the terrible ruling in the home schooling case down in North Carolina.

LifeSite News is reporting that parents in the United Kingdom could face criminal charges for removing their children from programs held at George Tomlinson Primary School which promoted the homosexual lifestyle.  School officials have apparently announced they will prosecute parents of approximately 30 children who did not attend a week's worth of lessons coinciding with "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender History Month."

Parents say they had no choice but to remove their children from classes because the school told them there were no other options if they objected to the content of the program.

Pervez Latif, a 41-year-old accountant whose children, Saleh, 10, and Abdurrahin, nine, attend the school, told the Daily Mail, "I wrote a letter to the chairman of the governors explaining that I would be taking my children out of school and he wrote back saying that there was no other option."

Mr. Latif spoke of the disruption to his family: "My wife is very concerned she might be prosecuted ... I found it difficult to explain topics such as homosexual relationships at such a young age."

"I didn't want my children to be learning about this," he said. "If I am faced with court action, then I will just explain that these are my views.

The school council, Waltham Forest, has not yet told parents what their punishment will be, although the website states that parents can be fined on the spot, asked to sign a contract (presumably a contract of attendance) or taken to court.  Councils can send parents to jail for truancy.

Another parent, Sarah Saeed, took her eight-year-old daughter out of class during the week and told the school that she was planning to do so.  Saeed said "It is not an appropriate age for the children to be learning such matters."  With the exception of the GLBT week of lessons, Saeed's daughter had a perfect attendance record.

Richard Littlejohn wrote in the Daily Mail that parents do have the legal right to remove their children from lessons on sex and religion.  "That's why this is being smuggled in under the radar in the guise of 'history'."  He also states:

"What has any of this got to do with 'history'? ... And why a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender month, anyway? Why not a Foot Fetishists, Spankers, Sadists and Masochists History Month?" He noted that the Waltham Forest council is punishing the parents for standing in the way of "tolerance" training in schools.

"So why not tolerate parents who, for sincerely-held reasons, consider their children too young to be taught about gay relationships? That's because when it comes to so-called tolerance, the new, intolerant state religion of 'diversity' trumps the old religions any day of the week."

This story is interesting because it comes out only a couple of weeks after Cherie Blair, wife of former prime minister Tony Blair, spoke out about Christianity in the U.K., saying that "Everywhere you look today churches are being marginzlised and faith is something few people like to discuss openly."  See the Telegraph

Even Tony Blair himself told the Telegraph on March 5, 2009, that " . . . in general terms in British society there is a risk that people see faith as a personal eccentricity."  He also criticised decisions where worshippers have been punished for their faith, such as the nurse Caroline Petrie who was suspended for two months after offering to pray for an elderly patient.  Blair stated that "I hope and believe that stories of people not being allowed to express their Christianity are exceptional or the result of individual ludicrous decisions. My view is that people should be proud of their Christianity and able to express it as they wish."

PUBLIC "RE-EDUCATION" BEING ENFORCED: HOMESCHOOLING AND PARENTS RIGHTS DENIED!

The only escape American families have from a debased public school system that inculcates and indoctrinates young American minds with the left wing poisonous propaganda is an expensive private school (with an unbiased curriculum) or homeschooling. The Democrats have made choice impossible for the poor by their refusal to approve school vouchers.

Home schooling was the only other alternative and the leftist elites intend to consolidate their power and illegally seize the right to education our children.

We have witnessed the dumbing-down of an entire generation of school children. They are so incapable of thinking they elected an unamerican subversive to the White House. Our only hope is on our power to choose. This is unconstitutional and unamerican.

This is about parents' rights, individual rights. This is a critical issue. RED ALERT. It is in the very DNA of our society - parents, not the state, decide where children are educated.

Judge orders homeschoolers into public district classrooms
Decides children need more 'focus' despite testing above grade levels

A North Carolina judge has ordered three children to attend public schools this fall because the homeschooling their mother has provided over the last four years needs to be "challenged."

The children, however, have tested above their grade levels – by as much as two years.

The decision is raising eyebrows among homeschooling families, and one friend of the mother has launched a website to publicize the issue.

The ruling was made by Judge Ned Mangum of Wake County, who was handling a divorce proceeding for Thomas and Venessa Mills.

A statement released by a publicist working for the mother, whose children now are 10, 11 and 12, said Mangum stripped her of her right to decide what is best for her children's education.

The judge, when contacted by WND, explained his goal in ordering the children to register and attend a public school was to make sure they have a "more well-rounded education."

"I thought Ms. Mills had done a good job [in homeschooling]," he said. "It was great for them to have that access, and [I had] no problems with homeschooling. I said public schooling would be a good complement."

The judge said the husband has not been supportive of his wife's homeschooling, and "it accomplished its purposes. It now was appropriate to have them back in public school."

In the North Carolina case, Adam Cothes, a spokesman for the mother, said the children routinely had been testing at up to two years above their grade level, were involved in swim team and other activities and events outside their home and had taken leadership

roles in history club events.

Williams, a homeschool mother of four herself, said, "I have never seen such injustice and such a direct attack against homeschool."

Williams said she's trying to rally homeschoolers across the nation to defend their rights as Americans and parents to educate their own children.

Williams told WND the public school order was the worst possible outcome for Ms. Mills, who had made it clear she felt it was important to her children that she continue homeschooling.

According to Williams' website, the judge also ordered a mental health evaluation for the mother – but not the father – as part of the divorce proceedings, in what Williams described as an attack on the "mother's conservative Christian beliefs."

According to a proposed but as-yet unsigned order submitted by the father's lawyer to Mangum, "The children have thrived in homeschool for the past four years, but need the broader focus and socialization available to them in public school. The Court finds that it is in the children's best interest to continue their homeschooling through the end of the current school year, but to begin attending public school at the beginning of the 2009-2010 instructional year."

The order proposed by the father's lawyer also conceded the reason for the divorce was the father's "adultery," but it specifically said the father would not pay for homeschooling expenses for his children.

So this philandering pig of a husband and father who betrayed his wife and family betrays again. OUTRAGE!!

FOREIGN STUDENTS GETTING GUARANTEED STUDENT TAXPAYER MONEY

Eagle-eyed Americans expose continuing betrayal by the political elitist pigs who are the fleecing the American public while undermining this great nation.

Forbes had an article pertaining to TARP takers being banned from hiring foreign workers, which reader Rod agreed with -- but he notes,

 ....as I read the article I noticed something more disturbing. One of the foreign students who had their investment banking job revoked, due to the ban, remarked that she had to find a job so she could pay back her $140,000 in student loans. The article brushed over this, but I immediately wondered if a foreign college student received US government guaranteed student loans? If so, then this needs to be investigated and stopped. Why? Because:

1) Only US citizens should be eligible for student loans.

2) If the foreign college grad can't find a job in the US he/she can go back to their home country and default on the loans and due to the difficulty of international collections can expect no repercussions for the default.

3) Even more pernicious is the student loan lender loaning to a foreign college student. This is out right fraud. Why? Say they loaned the foreign student $ 100,000 and the student defaults. The lender can tack on up to an additional 22% collection fee for the default, regardless of their effort to collect and if they collect nothing from the student, the government has guaranteed it and the lender gets $122,000 a $22,000 premium relating to a borrower that should not have been loaned the money. Guess who gets the bill, you and I the American taxpayers. Thus the foreign student gets a free education at US taxpayer expense and the lender gets a $22,000 premium for loaning to someone they knew or should have known had a high probability of defaulting on the loan.

An eyewitness:

Tonight at the U of T [Israeli Apartheid Week] event, two Jewish students were assaulted by the Palestinian “Security” team for being “disruptive” (asking a legitimate question “does Israel have a right to exist”) The Palestinian “security” smacked a student in the head and grabbed him by his neck, while another “security” officer told a second Jewish student to “Shut the F**ck up or he’ll saw his head off”…All of this was done in a crowded lecture room with over 100 witnesses!!

I was there, there are no pictures, filming and taking pictures was prohibited (they seem to have a problem with the general public hearing what they say) it was reported to the police who chose (as usual) to do NOTHING…

Atlas has the full story from a courageous student who was there. Here are some images from last night. I will not run the name of the student reporter. I don't want them to get their skull cracked by the adherents of the religion of peace.

While last night had higher profile anti-Zionists and anti-Semites, what with Naomi Klein and Sid Ryan, tonight had greater righteous indignation of the "oppressed Fakestinians".

Notably, with Jews visible in the audience, the audience was repeatedly told from the dias that no photography or recording of any type was allowed by anyone without "media clearance".

On a number of occasions organizers tried to force me to depart with my camera, though I had not taken even one shot. i told them that when everyone with a cell-phone leaves or gives up their phone i will give up my camera too.

Later, during questions, organizers, " security", surrounded the area where visible Jews were seated. A Jew asked a question: "Is Hamas's charter racist "? That question then become the focus of vitriole, the "security" closed in around the Jews, security then started to push the Jews, then the dias demanded that the Jew leave the room. The Jew replied out loud that he would not depart unless told to do so by the Police. They came in from the lobby, and that ensued.

While this went on, I pulled out my camera and started to shoot. All manner of people closed in around me, and tried to obscure my lens. I got a few shots, and left for the lobby to catch the newly-evicted Jews' fate. Organizers were demanding my photos, and my name. They got neither, though it will be next to impossible to be anonymous tomorrow.

For my efforts, a Police Sergeant came up to me and pushed me out the front doors using his chest and flack-jacket against my chest. I asked him why i was being pushed out the doors and he said that. "you know why". Why? Because I look Jewish? Because I was photographing the altercation started by the islamo-fascists? OR, because he is brown ? Oh, but I can't make that silly, facetious, suggestion, all while being profiled myself ..........

As for the speakers: a communist Ryerson sociology prof; a racist, hijab-wrapped, student VP of YFS ( York Federation of Students ), who should likely better spend her time fighting female circumcision and misogyny in her own ethnic community; a U of T student who's family was from Haifa, and who's father was the student president at Bir Zeit in the 80's and was imprisoned; a Mohawk student espousing common objectives with supporters of Hamas ..................

We had representation with flags and bodies outdoors, and kudos to all those to came out.

Tomorrow will be worse at York.

MUSLIM TO JEWISH STUDENT AT TORONTO UNIV: “Shut the F**ck up or he’ll saw his head off”

We have lost our humanity. Society has made this permissible behavior. It's everyday, all the time. Atlas shrugs. This could never have happened 20, 30 years ago. We have gone over to the darkside. The Islamic murderous acts of war on 9/11 were the death knell for good men. In the eternal struggle between good and evil, civilized men have given up and await the trains.

An eyewitness:

Tonight at the U of T [Israeli Apartheid Week] event, two Jewish students were assaulted by the Palestinian “Security” team for being “disruptive” (asking a legitimate question “does Israel have a right to exist”) The Palestinian “security” smacked a student in the head and grabbed him by his neck, while another “security” officer told a second Jewish student to “Shut the F**ck up or he’ll saw his head off”…All of this was done in a crowded lecture room with over 100 witnesses!!

I was there, there are no pictures, filming and taking pictures was prohibited (they seem to have a problem with the general public hearing what they say) it was reported to the police who chose (as usual) to do NOTHING…

A Communique from the Battlefield for Hearts and Minds

Please read this letter I received from a besieged professor on the academic battlefield. It ain't pretty, but it gives a glimpse into what free men are up against.

My students are hungry. Though mostly young, they trudge around campus with the weary air of survivors. I teach at a non-competitive college. Every semester I learn of new ways a human life can go wrong: grim medical diagnoses, alcoholic parents, neighborhoods so noisy students can't read a book at home. I want to feed my students. I want to give them what scholarship gave me when I was a poor outsider, not expected to succeed: Emerson's "Self Reliance," delayed gratification, a refusal to collapse into a sense of victimhood, an insistence that tomorrow can be better than today. I want to give my students Shakespeare and Lincoln, the Declaration of Independence and the 23rd Psalm.

I was teaching a required freshman seminar on diversity. We were using Paula Rothenberg's textbook: an anthology of short newspaper articles and essays. The point of the narratives is invariable; it is the same point of a Sunday sermon; their point is virtue. "Diversity" has, on our campus, usurped the Judeo-Christian tradition, Greek philosophers and the Enlightenment. Diversity now monopolizes any discussion of virtue. Multiculturalism: good. Its opposite, however defined: bad.

Someone is victimized in every Rothenberg vignette. Typically, victims are virtuous African Americans, homosexuals, and women. Vice proceeds from a predictable villain: the white, heterosexual, Christian, American male. Context is everything. These accounts are true, and important, but Rothenberg's textbook does not emphasize that white American males fought a war to end slavery, or that white men like Goodman and Schwerner gave their lives in the Civil Rights struggle. The text avoids mention of nations where underage girls are sold into marriage, and Untouchables struggle under history's oldest extant racist system. In Rothenberg's textbook, only Americans do bad things; their doing bad things is an expression of their American identity.

While teaching the class, I tried to avoid demonizing white men. I could see, though, the resentment build in my white male students, the slumped shoulders, the increasing caution in their eyes.

I could see, too, the increasing confusion and despair in all my students. As hard as I tried to prevent it, the course was demolishing my students' faith and hope in their country and, by extension, their own futures. Everything and everyone you've respected is corrupt, the course seemed to say. "Nihilism" might have been a pithy description.

In Aisha's native country, women and girls were targeted for torture and death by Muslim terrorists. At first, she was happy and relieved to dress, behave, and be American. As the semester went on, Aisha adopted hijab, and insisted that Islam was not corrupt like America.

For her final project, Aisha brought in a guest speaker. Jamal was a member of the same minority group as many of the students. He had converted to Islam. Jamal openly announced that he was in class in order to practice "dawa." He was here to make converts.

I wanted to jump out of my chair, in the same way that I would have wanted to stop anyone, of any religion, who announced that he was in my class to convert my students. I did not. Previously on our campus, a Muslim student had subjected a much beloved, tenured professor to lengthy harassment. Our administration had been tardy and half-hearted in the professor's defense. I knew that professors mocked Christianity, or Christian students, with impunity. I remembered: on our campus, multiculturalism was virtue; its opposite was vice. I was confident: if I spoke up, I would lose any chance to teach.

Jamal systematically misrepresented Islam. The West was corrupt. Islam was pure. The West mongered war. Islam was the religion of peace. The West oppressed minorities. Islam was all about tolerance. Jamal's manner was very different from the posture of many professors. He was erect, and masterful, displaying a masculine style. He was not apologetic. He was dynamic, charismatic, and obviously proud. In what it tore down, Jamal's talk had everything in common with Rothenberg's text. The only difference was this: Jamal was offering a bright, shining alternative. I had the facts to refute every one of Jamal's points. I said nothing. I felt like I was dying inside.

The worst part of it all was the looks on my students' faces. Because my students are often poor and marginal, professors on our campus frequently joke about what wastes of space our students are. Professors talk about how much better students would be were the professors at a better school.

My most marginal students came to life as Jamal spoke. Their eyes shone. Their posture was alert. Young people are, by nature, hungry. They hunger for the truth and its power no less than they hunger for food. It is our job, as their elders, to give them the truth. When we distort the truth for our expediency, or to service our own grudges, we beget famine. My course had contributed to distorting my students' view of the world they were entering, that of adult responsibility. They needed something to take the place of everything that the class had taken away from them. They needed something to be virtuous and powerful, worthy and pure. When Jamal was done speaking, students flocked around him as chicks flock around a mother hen.

On that day, I began to think like an underground resister; what can I do without seeming to do it? I have since changed my teaching to prevent any further practitioners of "dawa" to enter my classroom. These changes are disguised. I resort to subterfuge because I am confident that if I directly question Islam, I will be fired.

I have also begun to indicate to my students that they are the inheritors of Western Civilization. I support students who are ridiculed in other classes because they are Christian, or because they are patriotic. As I do this, I cherish every moment teaching, knowing it may be my last.

The UCLA Daily Bruin had an article yesterday about Professors wanting to follow Hampshire University in the divestment from Israel. I got a list of all the groups and the leaders and am sharing it with all the organizations so we can work together to fight this action.

This is is enormous. Let's take on the most important Universities, like U Penn Wharton, UCLA, and others, and contact the Chancellors and ask them to put a stop to the divestment talks BEFORE the SJP and others get to them. This is a move that needs to be proactive.

This is pre-war Germany.

The planner Sondra Hale said, "When we get a bit better organized, we will be calling on this group of now over 200 for various actions, planning, etc. We are not adding any more California people to our Organizing Committee just now, but will keep you in mind. Thanks again for helping."

ISLAMIC SUPREMACISM 1, WEST 0 - TEACHER AXED OVER MUSLIM PARENT DEMANDS FOR SEPARATE ASSEMBLIES

A primary school head teacher has resigned after Muslim parents protested over plans to scrap separate faith assemblies for their children

Soon after taking over at the school Julia Robinson told staff she wanted to hold assemblies for all pupils, which would encompass all faiths.

The practice is common in most schools and after taking advice from the local authority, Ms Robinson set up a working party to look at alternatives.

But their work was stopped after a number of parents at Meersbrook Bank Primary Community in Sheffield complained about the plans.

Mrs Robinson was accused of being racist and following the complaints she was away from her post for most of last year.

She was due to make a phased return to her duties this term. But again there were protests from some parents when they heard she would be coming back.

Mrs Robinson resigned from her job and the school's chair of governors Sarah Browton also quit in support.

A member of staff who asked not to be named said: 'The head teacher inherited the separate assemblies when she started the job and she took careful advice from the authority on what to do about them.

'But when she tried to stop them, feeling they did nothing to promote inclusiveness, she was accused of being a racist.

'She wanted to hold assemblies for all the pupils, which would include all faiths. That is what happens in most schools but some parents wanted things to stay as they were.

UNTHINKABLE HAPPENS: U.S. professors call for academic and cultural boycott of Israel

When I was a kid, my mother used to tell a story I found so very curious at the time.
It was a story about my father and by extension, America. My mother had enormous respect for my father (and she thought highly of almost no one - very few at most). It was well deserved. My father was a smart, self made man -- a tough guy who came up the hard way (but that for another day). He was deeply thoughtful and considered -- when he said something, it meant something.

Anyway, she would tell the story of how they were driving down the road chatting about this and that and Papa said something to the effect, "well, nothing is forever" and my mother said, "America is forever" and he said "not even America".

Huh?

It was such an outrageous, impossible thought at the time for her and for me in the re-telling. I never even considered it. Didn't seem possible. The good guys won. We were post-historical.

That story haunts me. And has for the last few years. "Not even America".

There is something strangely perverse in this idea -- schools of learning boycotting the finest minds on the planet. But when you think of it, it's organic and logical, if the barbarians have seized the helm of education and culture. 25 years ago such an idea would have seemed outside the realm of conceivable thought. It would have been cast along aside the relics of Nazi past.

For first time, U.S. professors call for academic and cultural boycott of Israel Haaretz (hat tip Stuart)

In the wake of Operation Cast Lead, a group of American university professors has for the first time launched a national campaign calling for an academic and cultural boycott of Israel.

 While Israeli academics have grown used to such news from Great Britain, where anti-Israel groups several times attempted to establish academic boycotts, the formation of the United States movement marks the first time that a national academic boycott movement has come out of America. Israeli professors are not sure yet how big of an impact the one-week-old movement will have, but started discussing the significance of and possible counteractions against the campaign.

"As educators of conscience, we have been unable to stand by and watch in silence Israel's indiscriminate assault on the Gaza Strip and its educational institutions," the U.S. Campaign for the Academic & Cultural Boycott of Israel stated in its inaugural press release last Thursday. Speaking in its mission statement of the "censorship and silencing of the Palestine question in U.S. universities, as well as U.S. society at large," the group follows the usual pattern of such boycotts, calling for "non-violent punitive measures" against Israel, such as the implementation of divestment initiatives, "similar to those applied to South Africa in the apartheid era."

The campaign was founded by a group of 15 academics, mostly from California, but is, "currently expanding to create a network that embraces the United States as a whole," according to David Lloyd, a professor of English at the University of Southern California who responded on behalf of the group to a Haaretz query. "The initiative was in the first place impelled by Israel's latest brutal assault on Gaza and by our determination to say enough is enough."

"The response has been remarkable given the extraordinary hold that lobbying organizations like AIPAC exert over U.S. politics and over the U.S. media, and in particular given the campaign of intimidation that has been leveled at academics who dare to criticize Israel's policies," Lloyd wrote in an e-mail to Haaretz Monday. "Within a short weekend since the posting of the press release, more than 80 academics from all over the country have endorsed the action and the numbers continue to grow."

Asked if the group would accept the endorsement of Hamas supporters, Lloyd said, "We have no a priori policy with regard to the membership or affiliation of supporters of the boycott so long as they are in accord with the main aims stated in the press release."

He argued that, "on several occasions Hamas has sought direct negotiations with Israel, a pursuit that constitutes de facto recognition of Israel, and has openly discussed abandoning its call for the destruction of the state of Israel conditional on reciprocal guarantees from Israel."

Lloyd wrote that to the best of his knowledge, all supporters of the anti-Israel boycott were also opposed to the U.S. invasion of Iraq. Asked if logic wouldn't dictate that he and his colleagues boycott themselves, he responded, "Self-boycott is a difficult concept to realize. But speaking for myself, I would have supported and honored such a boycott had it been proposed by my colleagues overseas."

Durban bred, British approved

The idea of an academic boycott against Israel originated in 2001 at the "World Conference Against Racism" in Durban, South Africa. A first attempt to implement a boycott was undertaken by British professors in the wake of Israel's 2002 Operation Defensive Shield and the Jenin massacre claim. Since then, British academics tried several times to establish boycotts, with the latest such effort failing because legal advisers a few months ago pointed out that academic boycotts are discriminatory and thus illegal. Yet, analysts say that another British boycott campaign is to be expected in the follow up of Cast Lead.

In the U.S., on the other hand, only a few professors have supported the idea of an academic boycott. In 2006, the American Association of University Professors declared its objection to the British boycott, saying members, "especially oppose selective academic boycotts that entail an ideological litmus test."

In 2007, nearly 300 university presidents across the United States signed a statement denouncing the boycott, under the motto "Boycott Israeli Universities? Boycott Ours, Too!"

"I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO OBAMA OF THE DIVIDED STATES OF AMERICA"

I equate this with Hamas schooling, only subtler. And this is just what we hear about. Yesterday a parent (closet conservative) in a very upscale private school told me that on the day of the inauguration her young child came home from school with a huge Obama HOPE poster, a gift to the class from her teacher.

When asked why, the boy said that during the Pledge of Allegiance the teacher put up a large image of Obama next to the flag.

Thinking that the boy might be exaggerating, the man asked his son if he was sure, and suggested that by "large" he might mean an 8x10 photo of the president. The boy apparently said "No, it is a large picture of Obama and when we are done, the teacher turns off the image."

The same thing was not done for President Bush last year.

After investigating this morning, the other parent reported that what the boy said was true.

At least three of the five classrooms have an overhead projector and as the children stand to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, the teacher turns on the classroom overhead and a full body image of Obama, with six U.S. flags behind him, comes up about 4 feet away from the flag that hangs on the wall. The screen is apparently around five feet by six feet.

In the image, President Obama appears to be staring straight out with no facial expression, just a serious look. All of the kids in each class faced the President, instead of the flag that hangs in the corner.

Local parents are up in arms over this situation. Teachers clearly do not realize the gravity of what they are doing.

Update: The parents spoke to the Vice-Principal this afternoon. He said he would take care of it. I will check with them tomorrow and update this story.

Taleban threaten to blow up girls’ schools if they refuse to close

The Taleban have ordered the closure of all girls’ schools in the war-ravaged Swat district and warned parents and teachers of dire consequences if the ban is flouted.

In an announcement made in mosques and broadcast on radio, the militant  [pious Muslim - Atlas] ]group set a deadline of January 15 for its order to be obeyed or it would blow up school buildings and attack schoolgirls. It also told women not to set foot outside their homes without being fully covered.

“Female education is against Islamic teachings and spreads vulgarity in society,” Shah Dauran, leader of a group that has established control over a large part of Swat district in the North West Frontier Province, declared this week.

Teachers said that they had little choice but to comply. The Taleban have destroyed more than 125 girls’ schools in the area in the past year. Swat, once a relatively liberal area and a popular tourist destination, has in the past few years become a heartland for Pakistan’s Islamic militancy [religiosity - Atlas], which fashions itself on the conservative Taleban movement in Afghanistan.

Note use of the word conservative - a slam at conservatives. You will see that bogus word used more and more. What they mean is religious Muslims.

Islamic militants led by the radical cleric Maulana Fazlullah have been fighting government forces since Pakistan launched a massive operation in the district late last year. More than 200 government soldiers have been killed but the militants are still well entrenched in the area.

Mullah Fazlullah – also known as Mullah Radio for his sermons broadcast through his illegal FM radio stations – has long been exhorting people to stop sending their daughters to schools, which “inculcate Western values”. Hundreds of girls and women teachers have quit schools as a result.

The militants have also prohibited immunisation for children against polio – claiming that the UN-sponsored vaccination drive is aimed at causing sexual impotence – causing a sharp rise in cases of the disease.

Since the start of the government offensive, girls’ schools have been targeted increasingly by Islamic fundamentalists. The district has 842 boys’ and 490 girls’ state schools for 300,000 children aged 3 to 9; only 163,645 boys and 67,606 girls are actually enrolled at state and private establishments, according to official figures.

According to the local authorities, 50 per cent of girls have stopped attending school because of the militants’ threats. Hazir Gul, a teacher, said that the inability of the authorities to provide protection against attacks had emboldened the Islamists. “Militants can burn the remaining schools whenever they want,” he said. In some areas state school buildings have been turned into madrassas, or religious seminaries.

OVER 60% OF UK MUSLIMS SCHOOLS "EXTREME" (uh, that's ISLAM)

Here's the thing, these are not "extremist" links - this is Islam. Read the Koran. This is not extremism. This is Islam. This is religious adherence. This is the elemental broken thinking in the West. We cannot (or will not or refuse to) grasp the reality of the tenets of Islam. This is Islam.

Exclusive: over 60 per cent of Britain's Muslim schools have extremist links, says draft report hat tip amaros

Britain's Muslim schools have been sharply criticised in a controversial draft report commissioned by a leading think tank which suggests that over 60 per cent of them are linked to potentially dangerous Islamic fundamentalists.

An early version of the report, entitled When Worlds Collide, alleges that of the 133 Muslim primary and secondary schools it surveyed, 82 (61.6 per cent) have connections or direct affiliations to fundamentalists. The 133 schools are in the private sector but supposedly subject to Ofsted inspection.

The report also claims that some of these schools teach "repugnant" beliefs about the wickedness of Western society and Jews.

The claims in the report, written by Denis MacEoin in response to a commission from Civitas, will provoke ritual cries of "Islamophobia" from the Muslim Council of Britain and fellow travellers such as Koran Armstrong. MacEoin has been careful to back up his claims with evidence - in particular, screen captures of links to Islamic hate-mongers, including supporters of Al-Qaeda.

Civitas, however, is not prepared to endorse MacEoin's 61.6 per cent figure, which will not appear in the published version of When Worlds Collide. A spokesman for Civitas explains: "We want to concentrate on claims that are absolutely robust, rather than complicated material, some of it in Arabic, that might unjustly damage someone's reputation."

You see? This is the moral illness in the West. Pathos.

Perhaps the most alarming finding of the draft I've seen is that so many of these schools (including ones with no connections to political extremism) are bricking up their pupils behind a wall of Koranic injunctions and Sharia law.

What's the difference between  what these kids are taught  (above) and what these kids are taught?

This class traces the history of the Israel-Palestine conflict from its roots during the late Ottoman period through the current period. Students should keep in mind that this course is NOT designed to present “an objective” account of a “two-sided” conflict. The fact that there are supposedly two sides does not obligate us to portray each as equally right and/or equally wrong. The goal, rather, is to understand why the conflict arose, and what sorts of power inequalities have made it continue. In the past, this class has been more interesting and satisfying to serious students of history and politics, as opposed to those seeking confirmation of their current opinions. Those who think one national/religious/racial group is better than the other may end up frustrated.

Our main inquiries will include: Why and how did economic globalization, technological development, and European imperialism foster the creation of two different national identities in Palestine? Why and how and when did these two identities develop in such a way as to preclude members of certain religious or ethnic groups from belonging? Why does Palestine, an area of the Ottoman Empire where the vast majority of people were Arabic-speaking Muslims only 70 years ago, currently host a “Jewish” state whose leadership claims to represent, first and foremost, only one of the ethnic/national communities living there?

More than anything, this course requires students to engage in close reading, critical thinking and clear writing. Students will be expected to read each other’s work.

Course Goals:

  1. To gain solid introductory knowledge why and how a conflict emerged between Jewish Israelis (largely of Eastern-European and Middle-Eastern backgrounds) on one side and local Palestinian Christians and Muslims on the other, in the early part of the twentieth century.

  2. To replace common misperceptions with a deeper understanding of how laws, nationalism, and international politics have sustained this conflict for so long.

  3. To better understand the origins and meaning of “terrorism” in the context of the Palestine question.

  4. To gain a more specialized knowledge of one aspect of this conflict, by means of an individual research project.

  5. To learn how to critically evaluate and make sense of the barrage of information and propaganda about Israel and the Palestinians we receive on a daily basis.

  6. To develop your ability to express your thoughts clearly and convincingly in writing.

UK: Newspaper investigates child abuse at madrassashat tip Terri

Muslim children are being beaten and abused regularly by teachers at some British madrassas - Islamic evening classes - an investigation by The Times has found.

Students have been slapped, punched and had their ears twisted, according to an unpublished report by an imam based on interviews with victims in the north of England. One was "picked up by one leg and spun around" while another said a madrassa teacher was "kicking in my head - like a football", says the report which was compiled by Irfan Chishti, a former government adviser on Islamic affairs.

Almost 1,600 madrassas operate in Britain, teaching Arabic and the Koran on weekday evenings to about 200,000 children aged from four to their mid-teens.

PALESTINIAN WEEK ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES: EMORY - MODERN DAY POGRAMS

"Palestinian Week" The historical lie manufactured by the brutal terror master Yaser Arafat,  systematically  used to beat the Jews about the head, is spinning out of control. "Palestinian Week" is a rotating band of goons disgorging hate, thuggery, intimidation and terror. It is sponsored by Muslim Students Association (MSA), a key lobbying organization for the Wahhabi sect of Islam, with a network of over 200 chapters on college campuses. Founded by members of the Muslim Brotherhood, MSA was named in a May 1991 Muslim Brotherhood memorandum as one of the Brotherhood's likeminded "organizations of our friends"[1] who shared the common goal of destroying America and turning it into a Muslim nation.

I am well aware of the this rampant anti-semitism activity at notorious college campuses like UC, but Emory?

I wanted to share with you something that came across my e-mail box today. I am a brother of AEPi Zeta (Georgia Tech ME, Class '07). I have received the following:

Dear Brothers,

On Saturday night while our entire chapter was out of town at their Fall Formal the house (university owned) was attacked by a Molotov cocktail and set on fire. Luckily passerby's saw it and quickly called the fire department. The damage was confined to a relatively small area of the front door and front porch. There is smoke damage in the house but it's livable.

Last week was very tension filled at Emory with "Palestinian Week" and it culminated on Friday with a mock fence set up degrading Israel's security fence. Tensions were high all week but the week ended and we thought that it was over. Unfortunately, the chapter was called back from their out of town formal to find the fire and it's remnants.

We have all been in touch with the university president, Greek Life people and security personnel. The undergrads are very shaken by this incident. Luckily we have excellent leadership and we have arranged for security for the next few nights as well until things calm down. Our Epsilon Chapter is the largest on campus and very identified as Jewish. The group numbers more than 100 men and they are not a squeamish bunch by any means.

These "Palestinian Weeks" go from campus to campus across North America - about a half dozen or so a year and cause a varied amount of havoc in their wake. We've seen much worse than this in California and Canada but it's scary certainly anywhere it happens. These groups are sponsored and funded by the MSA "Muslim Student Association" and you can probably guess where their funding comes from.

We had another scare tonight at 7:00 PM at Emory and the police emptied our house. An unidentified book bag was on the porch and the bomb squad was called in. It turned out to be nothing but made the kids even more nervous. I am speaking with them every couple of hours and after the early evening scare all is quiet now.  Although this is a university building and I believe they are doing all they can,  I expect the phone to start ringing tomorrow morning from parents. We will do our best to assure them that it's calming down.

In Friday’s Wheel there was a disturbing cartoon directly comparing the Nazi ghettoes with the separation fence the Israelis have erected on the West Bank. This equation is historically spurious and highly prejudicial. The Germans put Jews from throughout Europe in ghettoes to either die a slow death of starvation, deprivation and disease or a faster death with a bullet or poison gas.

When Israel withdrew from the Gaza strip, it left behind fertile farms, hothouses filled with advanced hydroponic systems for growing vegetables, and other installations which could have been used to better the Palestinians’ lot. Most were destroyed by the Palestinian people. International funds were raised to help the residents of Gaza. These too have resulted in little improvement. Meanwhile, rockets from Gaza continue to be fired into Israeli towns. A barrage Saturday put 18 people in the hospital. In response, Israel has shut the border between Gaza and Israel, further increasing the suffering of the residents of Gaza.

There is a serious problem in the Middle East but Woodliff’s glib comparison of Jews to Nazis is not only ill-informed, it demonstrates a certain prejudice — antisemitism — which will never help resolve the situation. Whatever one thinks of Israeli policy, to describe it as akin to the Nazi policy of murdering all of European Jewry is to engage in antisemitism and a form of Holocaust denial.

Finally, I was struck by the explanatory note the Woodliff appended to the drawing. No editorial cartoon should need an explanation or an addendum. If the cartoonist is any good, his work should speak for itself. With that I rest my case.

And this from the faculty - a responsible faculty, thank G-d. The professors at Duke could learn a thing or two.

Arab Students at UC Berkeley Brownshirt an Israel Event, Attack Jews

Arab students disrupted a pro-Israel event at the campus of the University of California at Berkeley Thursday night, unfurling a large Palestinian flag in front of a crowd of hundreds of supporters of Israel who were enjoying a pro-Israel hip-hop concert. The event was sponsored by the Zionist Freedom Alliance student group.

The Arab students unfurled the large flag on a balcony above the outdoor site where the concert was taking place, inciting a provocation right in front of the concert-goers, who were enjoying the event as part of the campus' Israel Liberation Week. Several Jewish concertgoers went into the building to ask the Arabs to remove the flag – but were viciously attacked, with one male concertgoer knocked down from a blow on the back of his head, witnesses said.

College alumnus Gabe Weiner, who was helping run the concert, was assaulted by the leader of the anti-Israel group, Husam Zakharia, who also attacked one of the performers, Yehuda De Sa. The fight was finally broken up by John Moghtader, a senator in the UC Berkelely student organization. Police were called in and arrested Zakharia along with others from his group, charging them with battery. Witnesses said that the Arab students shouted anti-Semitic curses and epithets throughout the incident, calling the Jews “Nazis” and “dogs,” and threatening to kill them. According to one witness, as many as 20 anti-Israel students participated in the attacks.

I got off the phone a little while ago with one of the student organizers of my address tonight at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. It is rather amazing to me that all this would be necessary anywhere in America today -- and all because I am saying things they don't like. MSA students have been accusing me this week of fostering an atmosphere of hate that leads to innocent Muslims being victimized. This is a preposterous charge to make to anyone who is trying to defend human rights, but it is also a noteworthy case of projection: it is they who are fostering an atmosphere of hate and thuggery, with all their lies, smears, and hysterical rhetoric, which combined with the way they and their allies have behaved at talks by previous speakers they disliked has made all this security necessary.

The Left and the MSA's on campuses all across the country are fostering a very dangerous atmosphere that is completely opposed to the classic spirit of the university. The increasingly apparent fact that all too many universities have become nasty little propaganda camps suggests that the principles of free inquiry, of honest and open discussion and dissent, and of the old adage, "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it," are far more endangered than most people realize.

I just found out that my son's new (copyright 2008) Wisconsin - McDougal Littell Literature book has 15 pages covering Barack Obama. I was shocked - No John McCain, no Hillary Clinton, no George Bush - Just Barack Obama. I'm wondering how it is that Obama's story gets put into an 8th grade literature book? It would be one thing, if it was just the tidbit about his boyhood days, but 15 pages, and they talk about his "Life of Service". Honestly, what has Obama really done to be included in this book? Not only that, but on page 847 there is a photo of Obama at the 2004 Democratic Convention with at least 8 Obama signs in the background! Front & center is an www.obama2004.com sign.

YOUR TAXPAYER $$ AT WORK: SCHOOL PROJECT, HITLER STYLE OBAMA YOUTH

Remember the video I ran on OBAMA STYLE NAZI YOUTH? There's a lot of Obama youth videos out there but this one was particularly  frightening. More has emerged and it just validates our worst fears about the hijacking of our shcool system by the liberal fascists.

The Junior Fraternity students studied Obama's economic plan with the teacher, and the superintendent did not know whether the teacher or the students scripted the routine. The group should have also studied John McCain's economic plan, the superintendent said.

In the video, eighth- and ninth-graders wearing military camouflage pants and navy t-shirts chant and perform a routine in the style of a step show, a dance popular among African-American fraternities at universities.

"People are upset that possibly taxpayer money is being used to support one particular candidate," [superintendent] McGautha said, "and now I can understand that. And I didn't condone them. I try very, very hard to remain within the limits of the law. I think this is unfortunate."

She said she was aware of the video, and that many of the school's activities are recorded, but that the teacher had been warned in a letter not to put it on the Internet. If he did, she said, he should seek legal counsel.

The teacher's fate will be taken up by the charter school's board, she said.

"Certain things don't happen in public schools anyway, but there area lot of other ramifications when you take it public," McGautha said.

"As far as [the teacher is] concerned, I think he gets what was supposed to come to him. But I don't think the children should be the victims of his stupidity."

In a landmark book called “The Trouble with Textbooks,”Dr. Gary A. Tobin and Dennis R. Ybarra show how millions of American schoolchildren are taught anti-Semitic versions of Jewish history and faith, particularly in relation to Christianity and Islam, in passages that often amount to sheer libel.

The authors found that U.S. textbooks “tend to discredit the ties between Jews and the Land of Israel. Israel is blamed for starting wars in the region and being colonialist. Jews are charged with deicide in the killing of Jesus. All in all, there are repeated misrepresentations that cross the line into bigotry.”

·         The Arab nations never attacked Israel. Arab-Israeli wars “just broke out,” or Israel started them.

·         Israel put the Palestinians in refugee camps in Arab lands, not Arab governments.
·         Palestinian terrorism is nonexistent or minimal.
·         Israel is not a victim of terrorism or terrorism against Israel is justified.
·         U.S. support of Israel causes terrorism, including 9/11.
·         The intifadas were children’s revolts not involving adults or terrorism.
·         Jews and Judaism are legalistic. Jews are only about the letter of the law and ignore its spirit.

Tobin and Ybarra point out that in many books the Jewish G-d is depicted as “stern and warlike. G-d’s compassionate qualities, highlighted in lessons about other religions, are missing when Judaism is discussed." They cite numerous cases of a bias against the very foundations of Judaism, while those of Islam and Christianity are treated as fact.

MUSLIM PARENTS, WILLMAR SCHOOLS REACH AGREEMENT ON PRAYER TIME -

A few Somali parents in Willmar complained that the public schools weren't allowing their Muslim children to step out of class for daily prayer. Some didn't send their children to school last week in protest.

Today, school officials said they won't change their policy, which allows students to pray during lunch time and between classes. For now, families have reluctantly agreed to send their children to school, but the issue may resurface later in the school year.

This is the first school year Somali parents have had an issue with Willmar public schools over when their children can pray. A few children informed their parents that they weren't allowed to step out of class to pray.

The daily prayer schedule is calculated based on the number of daylight hours. Chris Schumacher is the Executive Director of the local chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR. The civil rights organization serves the Muslim community on issues dealing with religious discrimination.

Schumacher says in Minnesota prayer schedules can vary widely, because the daylight hours during winter are so few compared to summer. (MORE)

Saudi funded Hate School Director Pleads Guilty to Covering Child Sexual Abuse

He plead guilty? According to the Koran, he's innocent. Al-Shabnan's arrest came after police alleged he covered up an incident in which a 5-year-old girl attending the school reported that she was being sexually abused by her father. According to court papers, Al-Shabnan, 52, of McLean, told police that he didn't believe the girl, and advised the girl's parents to put her into counseling. But state law requires school authorities to report alleged child abuse within 72 hours of learning of the allegation.

This director of this school curriculum included 12th-grade text on Quranic interpretation that taught  students that it is permissible for Muslims to kill adulterers and converts from Islam, according to the investigation by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, a panel created by Congress that monitors religious freedom rights around the world.

  Aformer school valedictorian, Ahmed Omar Abu Ali  was convicted of joining al-Qaida after leaving the school and plotting to assassinate President Bush.

The director of a Saudi-funded Islamic school in northern Virginia accused of promoting religious hatred has pleaded guilty to failing to report suspected child abuse.

Abdalla Al-Shabnan, director of the Islamic Saudi Academy, was fined $500 after pleading guilty to a single misdemeanor count alleging that he failed to inform authorities about suspected sexual abuse of a 5-year-old girl who attended the school.

Prosecutors dropped an obstruction of justice charge.

A federal commission reported last month that the school's textbooks promote intolerance and teach that it is permissible for Muslims to kill adulterers and those who convert from Islam.

Connolly Contributor Uses Aliases and Has Links to Hamas

Washington, DC – The Traditional Values Coalition (TVC) has called on Fairfax County Supervisor Gerald Connolly to return a contribution his Congressional campaign received from a radical Islamic official and reopen the supervisors’ lease renewal of the Islamic Saudi Academy. 

A Federal Election Commission report lists “Nehad Hammad” as the Executive Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and reports that he donated $500 to the Congressional primary campaign of Gerald Connolly, chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

Law enforcement officials note that Hammad is an alias used by Nihad Awad who is the founder of CAIR and is listed on the group’s website as its Executive Director. Before founding CAIR,   Awad served as spokesman for the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP) which the Federal Bureau of Investigation officials have identified as a front-group for the violent terrorist organization Hamas.

According to several sources, Awad uses the name Nehad Hammad on some official forms such as IRS documents instead of the name Nihad Awad he uses publicly as a top official at CAIR.  One former federal official refers to CAIR as “Terrorists R Us” and points to a long list of CAIR staff who have been convicted of financing terrorist activities.

“Mr. Connolly should return the check he received from Awad, Hammad or whatever his name is today,” said James Lafferty, a spokesman for the Traditional Values Coalition.

At a May hearing of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, Chairman Connolly attempted to bully and shout down witnesses from TVC who quoted parts of ISA textbooks.   He repeatedly accused the TVC witnesses of bigotry and yelled “slander” several times.

“The cause of Mr. Connolly’s anger and vehemence in defending the Islamic Saudi Academy is now apparent.  Are there other leaders of radical Islam involved in or financing Mr. Connolly’s campaign?

“Mr. Connolly has set a new low for what value-neutral politicians will do to raise money or pander to the most radical voting blocs.   He needs to come clean and scrub his campaign of all terrorist influence and sympathizers.

“He also needs to right the wrongs he has done and bring the same passion to reversing the decision of the Board of Supervisors to lease a former county school to the Saudi government. He tried to pawn it off on the State Department which does not have jurisdiction in a desperate effort to save face.   It is an affront to every Fairfax County taxpayer to provide classrooms to those determined to indoctrinate young people to become the next generation of terrorists.”

He was writing a book on republicanism (the system of liberty under law)  when he was discovered that the Flight 93 memorial was going to be a terrorist memorial mosque. Of course we should have expected that the enemy would enter, and try to win a memorial to their heroes instead of ours. Much harder to understand is the willful blindness of those who are charged with the memorialization of Flight 93, which is supposed to be the symbol of our woken vigilance.

    Every place where the terrorists are memorialized in the crescent design, they are placed in the symbolic Islamic heavens (the crescent and star parts of the design). Every place where the 40 heroes are memorialized, they are depicted as symbolically damned, cast out of the symbolic Islamic heavens. One example is in the Tower of Voices, where an Islamic shaped crescent soars in the sky above forty symbolic souls that literally dangle below:

Virginia Islamic Academy had its corporate charter revoked and never filled out IRS forms Surprise, surprise. But will their Saudi connection bail them out? I would guess that it probably will. "Virginia’s Islamic Academy on Shaky Legal Ground," by Patrick Poole for Pajamas Media, June 27:

An investigation by Pajamas Media has found that more trouble may be on the horizon for the Islamic Saudi Academy and the Saudi Embassy.
PJM first reported on the academy, a school sponsored by the Saudi Embassy, two weeks ago when law enforcement authorities raided it, looking for evidence that the school’s director, Abdullah Al-Shabnan, had covered up sex abuse allegations by a 5-year old student. The raid occurred just three days after the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors had renewed the school’s lease despite evidence that the school continued to use textbooks promoting violence and religious hatred.

Since then Abdullah Al-Shabnan has been charged with failing to report the child abuse allegations and obstruction of justice. A protest was held last week in front of the academy and it received considerable local media coverage, including from the Washington Post. That coverage no doubt played a role earlier this week when in a stunning about-face the Fairfax Board of Supervisors sent a letter to the State Department asking them to determine whether the lease should be renewed or not in light of the report earlier this month by the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) that reviewed the academy’s textbooks and found that incendiary and hateful passages had not been removed.

The school has issued a press release claiming that the passages have been “mistranslated and misinterpreted,” and saying that the “textbooks are no longer at use at the Academy.” That contradicts statements made last week by school officials to the media that textbooks will be rewritten and reissued before the beginning of school. Why would the textbooks need to be rewritten if those under scrutiny are no longer in use?

The textbooks are not the only elements of the school that don’t hold up under scrutiny.

Virtually all of the establishment media press reports have wrongly claimed that the school operates independently of the embassy as a private entity. Even Tom Casey, the State Department’s deputy spokesman, made this error during his June 24 daily press briefing:

QUESTION: I understand that you’ve received a letter from the — from Fairfax County asking you whether you could give an opinion on the lease of the Saudi school in Alexandria and whether the county should extend that lease, which I am told it’s worth $2.2 million a year. But — just, I mean, do you expect to pronounce yourselves on that? Is that something that you –

MR. CASEY: Well, I think it’s something we’ve just gotten. We’ll certainly take a look at it and see what kind of response would be appropriate, but I — you know, it’s not something we’ve had a chance to really look through. As you know, this is a school that is incorporated and overseen through the county there. It’s not an institution that we have any sort of formal role in accrediting or managing. But certainly, we’ll take a look at the letter and if there’s some thoughts or advice that we can offer, we’ll certainly do it.

And State Department spokesman Nichole Thompson has also said:

This is a private school. It is not a part of the Saudi embassy. It is not part of a diplomatic mission.

These claims by State Department officials make clear their position that the Islamic Saudi Academy has maintained a separate corporate identity from the Saudi Embassy. But a review of the corporate records on file with the Virginia State Corporation Commission finds that the Islamic Saudi Academy’s corporate charter was terminated by the state on December 27, 2004. There is no indication from state records that the incorporation has been revived or renewed, and the last corporate report the school has filed with the state of Virginia that we could find was 2004 — the same year its corporate charter was terminated. A check of corporations in neighboring District of Columbia and Maryland found nothing for the academy.

Shocked? Don't be. Why should they have to obey kaffir laws?

Local pastors have gotten involved. Pastor Dave Welch, of the Houston Area Pastor Council, confirmed that the 'indoctrination' did indeed take.
"The failure of the principal of Friendswood Junior High to respect simple procedures requiring parental notification for such a potentially controversial subject, to not only approve but participate personally in a religious indoctrination session led by representatives of a group with well-known links to terrorist organizations, and her cavalier response when confronted, raises serious questions about her fitness to serve in that role."
 
According to one parent the indoctrination took place during time used for P.E. classes. "I am simply trying to get the word out to those whose kids may not have told them about an Islamic presentation that all kids were required to attend."

Al Jazeera Propaganda, Omission, Lies on Virginia Saudi Hate School

So now the Arab world is weighing in on America protecting its citizens and schools from Islamic jihad? Al Jazeera did a hit piece on the US commission and pimped for the jihad teaching Saudi hate school despite the Islamic school's guilt in teaching violent jihad and protecting the Islamic right to molest children.  Al Jazeera is crying "persecution"!Islamic_academy

Al Jazeera made no mention of the vile hate taught in the textbooks, the arrest of the director or the child molestation or that the valedictorian of the school was involved in a jihadi assassination plot against President Bush.. No mention was made of the fact that the Virginia school is teaching  anti-Semitism and Islamic supremicism or that the school promised to revise those textbooks (which they attempted to do with ...ahem.....white out).

Everyone talks about how the West is losing the battle of ideas, but this is not a battle of ideas. These are the most disgusting lies to cover up fascist Islamic supremicism and hatred. Churchill nailed it when he remarked, ""A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."

Following are excerpts from a report on the Islamic Saudi Academy in Virginia, which aired on Al-Jazeera TV on June 17, 2008:

Reporter: We are at the Islamic Saudi Academy in the state of Virginia – the largest institution teaching the Arabic language and Islamic education on the East Coast of the U.S. However, this institution faces mounting pressure, and this is a nightmare for the families of the students enrolled in the academy. This pressure is exerted by several Congressmen, known for their great hostility towards Arabs and Muslims.

This child recites verses from the Koran with perfect diction, even though he is only six years old. These flowers, which have just begun to bloom, have sprouted on American soil. Their parents decided to help them find their roots in a supervised environment. This goal has been achieved at the Islamic Saudi Academy. However, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, which was established by Congress, has recommended that the academy be shut down, alleging that its religious curricula, which are taught in Saudi Arabia as well, included material inciting to racism and intolerance towards other religions. [The commission] did not even talk to those in charge of the academy, let alone visit it.

Abd Al-Rahman Al-Ghufayli, Principal of the Boy's School: We have nothing to hide. That's why we invited them there and tried to discuss things with them, but I'm sad to say, they did not accept our invitation. This suggests that the commission has a certain agenda, which it is trying to implement.

Reporter: The local authority of Fairfax County, where the academy is located, has challenged the threats of closure. It determined that the allegations are invalid, and it approved the religious curricula after examining them. The non-Muslim teachers also expressed disgust and frustration at the allegations.

Kate Schneider, English teacher: The thing that frustrates me so much about these accusations is that first, they are not true, and second, it is so completely opposite from the truth. This school teaches faith, and the same basic values we want all our children to have.

Reporter: The academy's students participate in community activities, which differ from other American schools. The U.S. President even sent letters of appreciation to the students.

Fardia Turkestani, Principal of the Girls’ School: We are very proud that a student of ours won this award three years in a row.

Reporter: "I will become the slave of he who teaches me a single letter." So what should be said about those who teach an entire language? What should be said about a commission that some say is unconstitutional and contradicts the very meaning of its name? This commission calls upon all countries of the world to respect freedom of religion there, while the commission itself violates this freedom on its own land.

After a groundswell of opposition from parents, community leaders and concerned citizens, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, responding to public outcry, unanimously reversed its support of the Islamic Saudi Academy, and called for the U.S. State Department to investigate the school. John Cosgrove, one of the leaders of the movement, will be on my radio show Atlas on the Air Friday at noon to discuss the latest developments.

On June 23, 2008, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, responding to public outcry, unanimously reversed its support of the Islamic Saudi Academy, and called for the U.S. State Department to investigate the school. Though the UAC applauds the BoS’s decision to demand such an investigation, the UAC disagrees with the BoS’s claims of ignorance regarding the ISA.  Given the preponderance of available government reports, and the testimony presented to the BoS during a May 19, 2008 hearing on the ISA, the BoS only remained unaware of relevant information due to its own preference.  The UAC questions how the BoS on May 19th, proclaimed their investigation of the ISA sufficiently resourced and conclusive, yet now claims the County lacks the capability to conduct an adequate investigation. 

The UAC regrets that it took the arrest of the ISA Director General, another government report, and a protest to convince the BoS to finally take action and heed the warnings of the USCIRF reports that BoS Chairman Gerry Connolly called TVC member Jim Lafferty slanderous for citing. 

The UAC also disagrees with the BoS assertions of impotency, as, on May 19th, it fully had within its power to delay the approval of the ISA lease until completion of a US State Department investigation.  Instead it issued the ISA, and its now arrested Director General, an apology. The BoS has now called upon the US State Department to conduct the same investigation UAC and coalition partners requested on May 19th.

The UAC believes the BoS can do even more, and believes the ISA has abused the goodwill of its hosts.  The BoS must stop passing the buck and finally hold the ISA accountable for its repeated lies and running a curriculum of religiously sanctified murder for almost 20 years.  Accordingly, the UAC calls for the closure of the ISA and competitive bidding for use of the County property it leases.

An Atlas reader who as a yoga educator has spent the past 22 years in the Far East (Taiwan and Hong Kong) and has  just relocated back to the USA. She wrote me upon her return, "What has happened to our country?"

The altering of facts is dangerous. Inaccuracy in textbooks is dangerous. In the Islamic view, Islam came into the world to replace Judaism and Christianity not live side by side. The jihad is that war. There is not one hadith in the Koran that speaks to a "spiritual" jihad. That's a western myth - taqiya propagated by Islamists. Jihad is violent.

In yet another example of why the west could be too weak to fight the sort of global terrorism that takes the form of Islamofascism, a textbook monitoring group is charging that American textbooks have been cleansed of mentioning the violence inherent in the Islamic "Jihad." Now, our children will not be taught what "Jihad" truly means, nor that it has been used as an excuse to kill their fellow citizens because our schools have sanitized Islam of all outrage and violence. Will the media follow this story and report that our children are being exposed to Islamic propaganda like this?

According to the New York Examiner, the American Textbook Council reports that textbooks approved for middle and high schools students have caved in to a politically correct cleansing of Islam and dumbed down history critical to a fuller understanding of Muslim history — one that reflects on our own times.

"Textbook editors try to avoid any subject that could turn into a political grenade," wrote Gilbert Sewall, director of the council, who railed against five popular history texts for "adjust[ing] the definition of jihad or sharia or remov[ing] these words from lessons to avoid inconvenient truths."

According to Sewall, several new textbooks, such as Houghton Mifflin's "Across the Centuries," have gone through an "amazing cultural reorchestration" to erase the history of violence associated with the word "jihad."

Sewall fears that a political process has replaced an academic process where it concerns the production and approval of our textbooks.

US GOVT AIDS ABETS CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE COVER UP IN ISLAMIC JIHAD ACADEMY

An evil  Democrat tool, Gerry Connolly, offered strong defense of the Islamic school that teaches jihad, Jew hate and aids and abets child sexual molestation. Gerry Connolly, who is the Democratic nominee for Congress in Virginia's 11th District -- offered a strong defense of the school and accused the school's critics of slander during the meeting in which the lease was approved. Connelly is runningfor Congress. Who would vote for this jihad lover, whatever your party affiliation? Accusing great Americans of slander, it is he who is slanderous. I would love to read his list of donors, I betcha it is chuck full of Saudi blood money.

The mainstream media is finally catching up on this story and it's a jaw dropper. Connelly should be arrested for aiding and abetting the enemy on native soil.

The State department refuses to release the ugly, spew hating textbooks that were corrected with, get this ... white-out.

Al-Shabnan Charged With Failure To Report Child Abuse

The director of a Saudi government-funded Islamic school has been arrested and charged with failing to report a child abuse allegation, adding to scrutiny of the northern Virginia academy as protesters came out Tuesday to call for a federal investigation of its teachings.

 

Abdalla I. Al-Shabnan, director of the Islamic Saudi Academy, was also charged with obstruction of justice, according to a police report about the June 9 arrest.

The misdemeanor counts come at a time when the private school is under heavy criticism from a federal commission and others over textbooks that allegedly teach violence and hate. More than a dozen protesters lined up outside the school Tuesday, waving signs that read "Saudi hate is not an American family value" and "Islamic Shariah teaches violence and hate."

The protesters, including the conservative Traditional Values Coalition, want the Justice and State departments to investigate the school. The State Department last year obtained copies of the school's textbooks but has so far refused to make them public.

Andrea Lafferty, executive director of the Traditional Values Coalition, said the arrest of al-Shabnan is just further evidence of problems at the school. "The academy is a virtual one-stop shopping center for law enforcement," she said, citing the case of a former school valedictorian, Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, who was convicted of joining al-Qaida after leaving the school and plotting to assassinate President Bush.

Al-Shabnan's arrest came after police alleged he covered up an incident in which a 5-year-old girl attending the school reported that she was being sexually abused by her father. According to court papers, Al-Shabnan, 52, of McLean, told police that he didn't believe the girl, and advised the girl's parents to put her into counseling. But state law requires school authorities to report alleged child abuse within 72 hours of learning of the allegation.

Al-Shabnan is free pending trial. Police said in court papers that Al-Shabnan ordered a written report about the girl's complaint, which had been prepared by other school officials, to be deleted from a school computer.

Al-Shabnan has not returned repeated phone calls and e-mails from The Associated Press seeking comment over the last week. Last week, a federal commission issued a report detailing numerous troubling passages from school textbooks. A 12th-grade text on Quranic interpretation teaches students that it is permissible for Muslims to kill adulterers and converts from Islam, according to the investigation by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, a panel created by Congress that monitors religious freedom rights around the world.

12th grade? They are teaching this sedition and treason and murder to 17 year olds and the State department is protecting them. Who the hell is the State department working for?

Other passages in the school's textbooks state that "the Jews conspired against Islam and its people" and that Muslims are permitted to take the lives and property of those deemed "polytheists." The school issued a statement saying the textbooks had been mistranslated and misinterpreted and that some of the textbooks studied by the commission are no longer in use. But the statement offered no detailed explanation of the specific passages cited by the commission, and school officials have not returned calls seeking comment.

Generally, the school has said in the past that some of the textbooks it uses come from Saudi Arabia and contain harsh language inappropriate for use in the United States. The school has said it revises the textbooks as needed. Indeed, the commission found evidence that individual passages were removed from individual textbooks, sometimes covered up with correction fluid.

But John Cosgrove of Springfield, Va., one of the protesters outside the school, said the revisions are even more troubling given the passages cited in the commission's report that were not deleted. "It stands to reason that the material they left in is material they think is acceptable," Cosgrove said. The commission and other critics of the school say the State Department ought to take a more assertive role in regulating the school because it functions as an arm of the Saudi embassy.

Also, the school's lease with Fairfax County specifically gives the State Department the right to intervene if it has concerns about the academy. Protesters also criticized the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors for voting unanimously last month to extend the school's lease. The lease was extended after county officials conducted their own review of the textbooks and said they didn't find any serious problems.  The board's chairman -- Gerry Connolly, who is the Democratic nominee for Congress in Virginia's 11th District -- offered a strong defense of the school and accused the school's critics of slander during the meeting in which the lease was approved.

MURDER TEACHING ISLAMIC SCHOOL DIRECTOR ARRESTED - CHILD MOLESTATION

This just gets uglier and uglier. There is no respect for the laws of this land. This school has been cited for teaching jihad with perverted, vile text (more here). Now this:

The Islamic Saudi Academy is a school in Northern Virginia and is operated by the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia.

Islamic Saudi Academy Director Arrested for Obstruction of Justice

Fairfax, VA

On June 9th, Fairfax County Police arrested the Director General of the Islamic Saudi Academy (ISA), Mr. Abdalla I. Al-Shabnan, on the charges of Obstruction of Justice without Force (VA Code 18.2-460). Charged and released on the same day, Mr. Al-Shabnan is out on his own recognizance as he awaits his first hearing at Fairfax County General District Court on August 1, 2008, at 9:30 a.m.

Mr. Al-Shaban’s arrest stems from an investigation into the ISA’s alleged failure to comply with State requirements for reporting child abuse. According to authorities, instead of reporting the child abuse, Mr. Al-Shabnan deleted the report, contacted the student’s parents, and recommended psychological counseling for the young victim. Mr. Al-Shaban’s June 9 arrest comes after a May 23rd police search of the ISA where they gathered evidence that has contributed to the charges against Mr. Al-Shabnan.

Years of Controversy Continue

The ISA has been at the center of controversy for many years. A 2007 United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) report promoted members of Congress to call for the closure of the school. The 2007 USCIRF report prompted a coalition of concerned grassroots organizations to request the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors to delay the renewal of the ISA lease until a Federal investigation into the ISA was completed. During the hearing, County Supervisors dismissed concerns as slanderous, bigoted, and unfounded. During the course of the hearing, Fairfax County Chairman, and Democratic Candidate for the 11th Congressional District, apologized to Mr. Al-Shabnan for what he deemed slanderous accusations that impugned the integrity of the Islamic Saudi Academy.

Since that May 19 hearing, the Mr. Al-Shabnan has been arrested and the USCIRF has confirmed ISA textbooks justify murder as an Islamic right.
