Al Franken's "Super" Stolen Election

 

I blame Pawlenty. He stood by and did nothing while Franken and thug/goon party changed the rules, pulled ballots out of their ass and stole the election. Al Franken? Is he even normal? Sane?

Norm Coleman won his election fair and square, and he was robbed by the same crooks who gave Burris the fraud his senate seat.

"Franken, who will hold a victory rally Wednesday and will be seated in the Senate next week, will assume coveted committee assignments on the Health, Labor, Education and Pensions Committee and the Judiciary Committee, allowing him to play a role in influencing the debates over health-care reform and the Supreme Court nomination of Sonia Sotomayor when Congress returns from its Fourth of July break" -- from a Yahoo news story. Choi opines, "Here's the ultimate Freshman Senator,100th in Seniority, receiving "Coveted " Committee Assignments in order for him to play an"influencing role" in RUINING Our Nation".

SUPER MAJORITY!

The 'Absentee' Senator

Franken wins by changing the rules.

The Minnesota Supreme Court yesterday declared Democrat Al Franken the winner of last year's disputed Senate race, and Republican incumbent Norm Coleman's gracious concession at least spares the state any further legal combat. The unfortunate lesson is that you don't need to win the vote on Election Day as long as your lawyers are creative enough to have enough new or disqualified ballots counted after the fact.

Mr. Franken trailed Mr. Coleman by 725 votes after the initial count on election night, and 215 after the first canvass. The Democrat's strategy from the start was to manipulate the recount in a way that would discover votes that could add to his total. The Franken legal team swarmed the recount, aggressively demanding that votes that had been disqualified be added to his count, while others be denied for Mr. Coleman.

But the team's real goldmine were absentee ballots, thousands of which the Franken team claimed had been mistakenly rejected. While Mr. Coleman's lawyers demanded a uniform standard for how counties should re-evaluate these rejected ballots, the Franken team ginned up an additional 1,350 absentees from Franken-leaning counties. By the time this treasure hunt ended, Mr. Franken was 312 votes up, and Mr. Coleman was left to file legal briefs.

What Mr. Franken understood was that courts would later be loathe to overrule decisions made by the canvassing board, however arbitrary those decisions were. He was right. The three-judge panel overseeing the Coleman legal challenge, and the Supreme Court that reviewed the panel's findings, in essence found that Mr. Coleman hadn't demonstrated a willful or malicious attempt on behalf of officials to deny him the election. And so they refused to reopen what had become a forbidding tangle of irregularities. Mr. Coleman didn't lose the election. He lost the fight to stop the state canvassing board from changing the vote-counting rules after the fact.

This is now the second time Republicans have been beaten in this kind of legal street fight. In 2004, Dino Rossi was ahead in the election-night count for Washington Governor against Democrat Christine Gregoire. Ms. Gregoire's team demanded the right to rifle through a list of provisional votes that hadn't been counted, setting off a hunt for "new" Gregoire votes. By the third recount, she'd discovered enough to win. This was the model for the Franken team.

Mr. Franken now goes to the Senate having effectively stolen an election. If the GOP hopes to avoid repeats, it should learn from Minnesota that modern elections don't end when voters cast their ballots. They only end after the lawyers count them.

Sadly for new puppies everywhere, this announcement is also another nail in the coffin of the Main Stream Media, as the RSVP at the bottom is that of The Advance Group, a major firm specializing in public relations. The Advance Group has many contacts in the MSM, but this event has been surprisingly kept under wraps. How is it possible that ACORN, who is in the middle of a ground war with bloggers and right leaning newspapers across the country (MSM reports only when they have to), has managed to plan a major event in DC with little media scrutiny. While the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN, remains under investigation for voter registration fraud and related allegations in at least 14 states, one former insider told WND the organization acted as unofficial arm of the Democratic Party during the recent election and used cash operations to keep some financial transactions under wraps.

In 2005, Anita Moncrief began working in the Strategic Writing and Research Department of ACORN Political Operations and its affiliate Project Vote. She said she conducted voter fraud research and census research and worked with political organizers. Moncrief left the organization in January 2008.

"It has always been a Democrat operation," she told WND. "They've never made any secrets about who they support. Their political action committees are usually set up to support these Democratic candidates." ............

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann told the Washington Times that she and her family will not be fully filling out the 2010 census forms.

Bachmann, a Republican, said her family will only be indicating the number of people in the household, because “the Constitution doesn’t require any information beyond that.”

Bachmann believes the upcoming census to be “very intricate” and “very personal” and expresses concerns about ACORN’s involvement in the data collection. The community organizing program came under scrunity after charges of voter registration fraud during the 2008 presidential elections.

“I think what the threat of ACORN would be deluding the ballot box and the effectiveness of our vote,” she said. “They will be in charge of going door to door and collecting data from the American public, this is very concerning.”

Bachmann also expressed frustration at the president’s backing for ACORN, saying he has supplied $8.4 billion to ACORN since he has come into office, a number that far surpasses the $53 million given in the past 15 years.

Former ACORN Employee: More Than Half Voter Registrations Invalid Ron Kessler, Newsmax

More than half the voter registrations turned in by ACORN canvassers during the last election were not valid, according to testimony to be presented before a House Judiciary subcommittee.

The testimony is from Anita MonCrief, a former employee of an affiliate of the Association of Community Organizations. MonCrief, who was fired for improperly charging personal expenses to the ACORN affiliate, originally testified under oath as part of a request by the Republican State Committee in Pennsylvania for an injunction against ACORN. The request was denied. The FBI has been investigating the liberal community organizing group for possible voter registration fraud.

MonCrief will appear at the congressional hearing Thursday with Heather Heidelbaugh, who represented the Republican committee in the civil suit and is on the executive board of the Republican National Lawyers Association. She will provide a legal analysis of MonCrief’s testimony.

“We will be presenting evidence that ACORN is engaged in voter registration irregularities and fraud,” Heidelbaugh tells Newsmax,

According to MonCrief, ACORN considered 40 percent an acceptable level of accurate voter registrations turned in by its workers. She said ACORN barely trained its workers in how to register voters properly and would fire employees if they did not meet a quota of 20 new voter applicants daily. If the registration cards turned in did not meet the quota, supervisors were told to “fire them right there; don’t let them waste your money for the day.”

If a canvasser was caught committing fraud, ACORN threw the individual “under the bus,” MonCrief said. ACORN employees were briefed on how to deny that voter registration fraud existed, she said.

According to MonCrief, the Obama presidential campaign called her in October 2007 asking for coordination in soliciting donations from people who had already made the maximum contribution to Obama allowed by election laws. MonCrief testified that she was given a massive database of Obama donors who had already reached the limit. Her task was to cull it for potential donors who would then donate to Project Vote, an ACORN affiliate which targets individuals and entities to solicit donations.

If true, MonCrief’s allegations constitute violations of the Internal Revenue Code, federal campaign finance laws, and laws against voter registration fraud, according to a memo by Cleta Mitchell, co-chairman of the Republican National Lawyers Association.

FBI agents have made two arrests after raiding the D.C. office of the man tapped to be President Obama's chief information officer, sources told FOX News. 

The agents on Thursday morning raided the office of Vivek Kundra, who was leaving his post as the D.C. chief technology officer to join the administration. The investigation is related to allegations of corruption, one source said, but is not targeting Kundra. 

FBI agents arrested a District of Columbia government worker, Yusuf Acar, as well as Sushil Bansal, who works for a company called Advanced Integrated Technologies Corp, sources said. Both are expected in court later Thursday. 

FBI spokeswoman Lindsay Gotwin would not describe the nature of the probe. 

"It's an ongoing law enforcement investigation," she said. 

In a March 5 White House press release, the administration said it chose Kundra to be the federal chief information officer because of his "depth of experience in the technology arena and a commitment to lowering the cost of government operations to this position." 

The chief information officer is responsible for overseeing federal technology spending.

On 5 March 2009 a Motion was filed in U.S. v. David Jacquot, Case # CR 08-1171, in the Federal District Court, in San Diego, California seeking to dismiss a false tax return indictment on the grounds that the Defendant was not treated in the same manner as politically prominent individuals. A hearing on this matter is set for 30 March 2009 in San Diego and the Defendant in this case intends to subpoena Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner, House Ways and Means Chairman Charles Rangel, former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, and others.

The Defendant in this case is David Jacquot, an attorney and retired Army Officer. He is a decorated disabled Desert Storm veteran living in rural Idaho with his family.

This “Geithner Motion” cites HR 735 titled the “Rangel Rule Act of 2009,” which if enacted, would eliminate penalties and interest for common citizens to allow them to be treated in the same manner as House Ways and Means Chairman Representative Charles Rangel. The Geithner Motion also quotes President Obama stressing the need to “treat common citizens in the same manner as politically prominent individuals in regards to tax matters”.

The Geithner Motion details how Mr. Jacquot was vindictively indicted in retaliation for his successful defense of his clients against the IRS. The tax returns of his corporate law firm for the four (4) years of 2001 to 2004 were investigated and the government alleges that the law firm declared almost $200,000 TOO MUCH income during this time period. The Geithner Motion contains descriptions of numerous actions by the government and Assistant U.S. Attorney (AUSA) Faith Devine that are the basis for the claim of retaliation against Mr. Jacquot for his zealous representation of his client’s Constitutional and statutory rights. The improper actions of AUSA Devine have been reported to the DOJ Office of Professional Responsibility for disciplinary action and are currently under review.

THE CLOWARD/PRIVEN STRATEGY OF ECONOMIC RECOVERY The American Thinker

Using borrowed money for a band-aid bailout of the economy should seem backwards to most people. However, it likely is a planned strategy to promote radical change. Those naively believing that President Obama is simply rewarding his far-left base, and will then move to the political center, must wise up.

The assumption that Obama will need the nation to prosper in order to protect the 2010 mid-term election incorrectly assumes that he esteems free market capitalism. He does not. Rather than win through superior ideas and policies, the Democrat plan for success in the mid-term elections is to win by destroying political opposition.

Obama adheres to the Saul Alinksy Rules for Radicals method of politics, which teaches the dark art of destroying political adversaries. However, that text reveals only one front in the radical left's war against America. The Cloward/Piven Strategy is another method employed by the radical Left to create and manage crisis. This strategy explains Rahm Emanuel's ominous statement, "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."

The Cloward/Piven Strategy is named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. Their goal is to overthrow capitalism by overwhelming the government bureaucracy with entitlement demands. The created crisis provides the impetus to bring about radical political change.

According to Discover the Networks.org:

Rather than placating the poor with government hand-outs, wrote Cloward and Piven, activists should work to sabotage and destroy the welfare system; the collapse of the welfare state would ignite a political and financial crisis that would rock the nation... [Emphasis added.]

Making an already weak economy even worse is the intent of the Cloward/Piven Strategy. It is imperative that we view the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan's spending on items like food stamps, jobless benefits, and health care through this end goal. This strategy explains why the Democrat plan to "stimulate" the economy involves massive deficit spending projects. It includes billions for ACORN and its subgroups such as SHOP and the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. Expanding the S-Chip Program through deficit spending in a supposed effort to "save the children" only makes a faltering economy worse. 

If Congress were to allow a robust economy, parents would be able to provide for their children themselves by earning and keeping more of their own money. Democrats, quick to not waste a crisis, would consider that a lost opportunity.

The Cato Institute reports that the plan will harm a faltering economy, intentionally causing increased job losses leading to increased demands for the aforementioned programs. Even the jobs to be created are set apart to render social justice, not economic revival. Robert Reich believes new infrastructure jobs should not go to white construction workers. Meanwhile, workers at Microsoft, IBM, Texas Instruments, and the retail market find themselves experiencing the life of the welfare poor.

If highly educated and trained workers continue to lose jobs and business falters as a whole, where will these jobless workers go? Could this be construed as revolutionary social reorganization that puts the underachiever above the achiever? Where is the future economic strength when jobless professionals collect welfare and unemployment while dreaming of a minimum wage job? For whites, there's not even the hope of a good paying construction job.

I kept a tally of who gave a firm no, and who seemed to be a little more on the squishy side. The ones who gave a firm no should still get phone calls, mind you, to make sure they don't change their position. But it's the squishy ones who really need our attention. Here's the tally:

Obama’s Senate Games (hat tip James)

Over the last week, Obama has been in discussions with New Hampshire Senator Judd Gregg about becoming the next Secretary of Commerce. There has already been an understanding that Obama was trying to tempt Senator Gregg with the offer to be head of Commerce so that the Democrats would obtain a filibuster proof senate. News articles have painted the offer as an attempt by Obama to bring Republicans and Democrats together.

Yet, as Politico’s Ben Smith noted on Saturday:

“The White House, I’m told, is still trying to get a guarantee from Governor Lynch that he’ll replace Senator Gregg with a Democrat.”

Smith’s statement was a single sentence and no other implications have been drawn from it. But a report in The Wall Street Journal’s Political Diary today seems to confirm this claim.

Obama is misappropriating a government position, putting someone into his cabinet who he doesn’t believe is the best person for the job.

The Politico information indicates that Obama clearly does not view Senator Gregg as the best person to head the Commerce Department. Rather, it makes explicit that Obama was offering the Commerce job solely to buy a Senate seat for the Democrats.

Senator Gregg, though, resisted any deal that gave Democrats an immediate filibuster proof majority. As Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell noted yesterday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Senator Gregg promised that he would only leave the Senate if another Republican replaced him.

So what was Obama to do? He apparently compromised for the next best option. John Fund at The Wall Street Journal reports on the new deal: Gregg will be replaced by a caretaker Republican who won’t run for reelection — giving the Democrats in an “increasingly” Democratic state “a good shot at picking up the seat” in the next election. By removing Gregg — a popular Republican incumbent who can remain in the Senate as long as he wanted — Obama is willing to buy his Senate seat for a delayed chance to create a filibuster proof Senate.

The Senate filibuster is our last playable card preventing President Hussein from having a rubber-stamp O-bot Congress for at least 2 years, and Gregg is about to give it up without a fight. Apparently, he believes his state's governor and Obama when they promise to replace him with someone who pledges to caucus with the Republicans. As if they would honor that and pass up a chance to have unlimited power.

These are Democrats, for crikey's sake. Are you watching the parade of tax cheats and lobbyists and pay-to-play dealings (headslap! Richardson withdrew his name)?

Why would we even be considering this insanity? You know Al Franken(stein) is going to steal the Senate seat from Norm Coleman with a few more ballots found in the trunk of an abandoned car. We know this. You know Gregg's replacement is going to tip the scales. We know this. This is the MO of the Democrats -- to steal, cheat, and lie to get what they want. They define the culture of corruption. But a super majority? That's a coup of these United States.

Gregg must have lost his ever loving mind. Why would someone give up a seat in the Senate to be Commerce Secretary  and subject to dismissal from the cabinet at the drop of a hat? He serves at the sufferance of the President. He suffers from sudden onset of chronic shit for brains syndrome.

 A Jersey City councilman has reportedly been arrested for urinating on a crowd of concertgoers from the balcony of a Washington D.C. nightclub.

The New York Daily News reports in Sunday's editions that two-term Jersey City Democrat councilman Steve Lipski has been charged with simple assault.

The newspaper says 44-year-old Lipski was removed from a place called the Nightclub 9:30 on Friday night.

That's after club staffers saw him relieve himself onto the crowd from a second floor balcony during a concert by a Grateful Dead tribute ban.

Messages left at Lipski's council office, and a Jersey City listing under his name were not immediately returned.

When Josh Mandel got a call from the Marines last year asking him to return voluntarily to Iraq, he had much more to contemplate than when he first enlisted in 2000. He had just been elected to the Ohio state legislature. Family considerations were also important to him. He ultimately decided to serve a second tour in Iraq “because I didn’t join the Marine Corps to say no when my country called,” Mr. Mandel explains.

Of all the factors he weighed, Mr. Mandel says political concerns were not among them. Now he has been forced to deal with the politics of that decision. The opponent in his tough re-election fight, trial attorney Bob Belovich, is attacking Mr. Mandel’s service, arguing that he abandoned voters. Mr. Belovich’s wife, Barbara, acknowledged in an interview for this column that she has told voters that Mr. Mandel “went AWOL” (a military term for desertion) by fighting in Iraq.

Even Mr. Mandel’s motives for serving in Iraq are being questioned. Mrs. Belovich claimed in an interview with this columnist that Mandel “put his personal ambitions ahead of his constituents.” Asked why anyone would enter a war zone out of “personal ambition,” Barbara Belovich replied curtly, “Certainly he wasn’t serving our needs.”

He has not even completed his fourth year in the Senate and received a total of $1,093,329.00 from these eight companies and their employees. (all data from OpenSecrets.org). John McCain’s numbers, according to OpenSecrets.org for the period 1990-2008 (i.e., 18 years worth of data) only collected $549,584.00. In other words, Barack is receiving $273,582.25 (and 2008 is not over) per year while McCain raised a paltry $30,532.44.

Want another shocker? Barack Obama has received more from one source–Goldman Sachs $542,252.00–than McCain has from all of the companies combined. Who the hell is more beholden to lobbyists? And why does a junior Senator from Illinois rate this kind of dough? (more here)

This is a good beginning: Steve Schmidt, a McCain campaign senior adviser, on a conference call with reporters Monday said  that The New York Times “is not a journalistic organization.”

“Whatever The New York Times once was, it is today not by any standard a journalistic organization,” Schmidt said. “It is a pro-Obama advocacy organization that every day impugns the McCain campaign, attacks Senator McCain, attacks Governor [Sarah Palin]. It excuse Senator Obama. …

“Everything that is read in The New York Times that attacks this campaign should be evaluated by the American people from that perspective – that it is an organization that has made a decision to deemphasize its journalistic integrity and tradition, to advocate for the defeat of one candidate – in this case, John McCain – and to advocate for the election of the other candidate, Barack Obama.”

Back in 2005, Fannie and Freddie were, after years of dominating, on the ropes. They were enmeshed in accounting scandals that led to turnover at the top. At one telling moment in late 2004, captured in an article by my American Enterprise Institute colleague Peter Wallison, the Securities and Exchange Comiission's chief accountant told disgraced Fannie Mae chief Franklin Raines that Fannie's position on the relevant accounting issue was not even ``on the page'' of allowable interpretations.

Then legislative momentum emerged for an attempt to create a ``world-class regulator'' that would oversee the pair more like banks, imposing strict requirements on their ability to take excessive risks. Politicians who previously had associated themselves proudly with the two accounting miscreants were less eager to be associated with them. The time was ripe.

The clear gravity of the situation pushed the legislation forward. Some might say the current mess couldn't be foreseen, yet in 2005 Alan Greenspan told Congress how urgent it was for it to act in the clearest possible terms: If Fannie and Freddie ``continue to grow, continue to have the low capital that they have, continue to engage in the dynamic hedging of their portfolios, which they need to do for interest rate risk aversion, they potentially create ever-growing potential systemic risk down the road,'' he said. ``We are placing the total financial system of the future at a substantial risk.''

What happened next was extraordinary. For the first time in history, a serious Fannie and Freddie reform bill was passed by the Senate Banking Committee. The bill gave a regulator power to crack down, and would have required the companies to eliminate their investments in risky assets.

Different World

If that bill had become law, then the world today would be different. In 2005, 2006 and 2007, a blizzard of terrible mortgage paper fluttered out of the Fannie and Freddie clouds, burying many of our oldest and most venerable institutions. Without their checkbooks keeping the market liquid and buying up excess supply, the market would likely have not existed.

But the bill didn't become law, for a simple reason: Democrats opposed it on a party-line vote in the committee, signaling that this would be a partisan issue. Republicans, tied in knots by the tight Democratic opposition, couldn't even get the Senate to vote on the matter.

That such a reckless political stand could have been taken by the Democrats was obscene even then. Wallison wrote at the time: ``It is a classic case of socializing the risk while privatizing the profit. The Democrats and the few Republicans who oppose portfolio limitations could not possibly do so if their constituents understood what they were doing.''

Mounds of Materials

Now that the collapse has occurred, the roadblock built by Senate Democrats in 2005 is unforgivable. Many who opposed the bill doubtlessly did so for honorable reasons. Fannie and Freddie provided mounds of materials defending their practices. Perhaps some found their propaganda convincing.

But we now know that many of the senators who protected Fannie and Freddie, including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Christopher Dodd, have received mind-boggling levels of financial support from them over the years.M/P>

Throughout his political career, Obama has gotten more than $125,000 in campaign contributions from employees and political action committees of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, second only to Dodd, the Senate Banking Committee chairman, who received more than $165,000.

Clinton, the 12th-ranked recipient of Fannie and Freddie PAC and employee contributions, has received more than $75,000 from the two enterprises and their employees. The private profit found its way back to the senators who killed the fix.

There has been a lot of talk about who is to blame for this crisis. A look back at the story of 2005 makes the answer pretty clear.

Oh, and there is one little footnote to the story that's worth keeping in mind while Democrats point fingers between now and Nov. 4: Senator John McCain was one of the three cosponsors of S.190, the bill that would have averted this mess.

A Democrat tells ABC News that in a phone call late this afternoon, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., told Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., that it would NOT be helpful for him to come back to Washington, DC, to work on the Wall Street bailout bill.

McCain this afternoon suspended his campaign and said he would skip the first presidential debate in order to return to Capitol Hill to work on the log jammed Bush administration legislation, which as of Wednesday afternoon was in peril.

When contacted, the McCain campaign did not have any comment.

McCain had phoned Reid to ask about the prospects of him, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and others to sit down and work together on hammering out a bipartisan proposal.

"Sorry," Reid said to him, a Democrat close to Reid says.

Obama, Hillary and Palin's Disinvite: What Really Happened

There is one thing that has been brushed over, ignored in all the tumult of the outrageous Palin disinvite. The catalyst that set the disastrous events in motion, Hillary Clinton's withdrawal.

Many weak and nonsensical excuses were made for Clinton's withdrawal. It was said she pulled out  because she thought the event was partisan, or because she did not want to appear with Palin. She was unhappy that the organizers did not tell her that Palin also was going to attend. This is mendacious. Hillary would never be given authority over who would or would not appear to represent the Republicans. Further,  do not believe she didn't want to share the podium with a woman whose politics are juxtaposed to hers.

Palin does not compete with Clinton and Clinton does not compete with Palin. Palin is the quintessential conservative and Clinton, the archetypal European socialist. Bottom line is, if you are a Clinton supporter, you are not going to switch to Palin or vice versa. The lines on their ideology, policies and platforms are most clearly drawn.

Caroline Glick wrote, " Clinton found out that she was to share a stage with Palin, she cancelled her appearance. By cancelling, she signaled to Jewish Democrats - and Democrats in general - that opposing Palin and the Republican Party is more important than opposing Ahmadinejad and the genocidal regime he represents." Actually, what Clinton signalled was her chances of seizing the nomination and the White House in 2012 was more important than presenting a united front against Ahmadinejad. It was Machiavellian.

So what happened to set the ball rolling?  Hillary's pull out had nothing to do with Palin. It was an implicit hit at Obama. Hillary did not want to be the one to represent Obama. Obama's position on Iran is sophomoric, idiotic and dangerous. Hillary has been more responsible and she was not going to clean up his mess. She was not going to be the face of Obama's Iranian foreign policy. Obama has said he would meet with Ahmadinejad without condition - essentially rewarding the poison dwarf for his nuclear arsenal and genocidal threats. No way was Hillary going to pave that road for him - so she pulled out forcing Obama to face the jihad music. In withdrawing she forced him send someone in his stead but who? Biden? Biden is the poster boy for Iran appeasement. His record on Iran is a capitulation - he could never make the case for a muscular policy on Iran's nukes and Ahmadinejad's genocidal threats. There was talk of Wexler - but he has his own problems (residential fraud) and he has lied about Obama's positions and support of the Jews. Sending a silly Florida representative would have spoke volumes of the importance Obama assigns to a nuclear, Jew hating Iran and would have paled next to Palin.

Hillary's withdrawal was a clear shot at Obama. And while it may have seemed to have backfired because folks were so disappointed with her, I am not so sure it was a  failure. Palin, in the speech she would have given, quoted statements that Clinton has made against the Iranian regime. Palin never mentioned Obama but spoke of Clinton most admiringly.  The Jews in America cannot rest easy knowing Obama did not think the existential threat to Israel and the free world  important enough to address.

Clinton could not have known that Jewish lay leadership would cave to their left wing masters but that was of little import to her. Her action was to shine the spotlight on Obama's complete failure on Iran and she accomplished this. Claiming that by inviting Palin (and Clinton, Biden and Wexler), the organizers were in danger of  losing their tax-exempt status was ridiculous. It was not a political rally and Hillary attended and spoke in 2006 when she was running for the Senate. Was that political? C'mon fellas, don't insult our intelligence.

I do not forgive Hoenlein for caving to the leftist Jews. The buck stops with him and he blew it. Israel is in Iran's nuclear cross hairs. Full weaponization is either here or  imminent. American Jews  need real leadership and that is why Malcolm Hoinlein must resign. He tired and gutless. As executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations since June 1986- it was his decision to make. Hoenlein has demonstrated he is not capable of leading the Jewish people as the world prepares for a second holocaust. Left wing politics of yesterday cause irreparable harm.

The Jews didn't like it. Many American Jews, like myself boycotted the rally. Estimates had this year's rally at two to four thousand while rally attendance in 2007 was reported by CBS to be 25,000 and 2006, roughly 40,000.

Further, no one took the Soros created  J Street seriously - until Hoenlein gave them credibility. Hoenlein should have insisted that Palin  appear and pushed back. He should have insisted that Obama send someone to represent him or suffer the consequences of an empty chair. And that was Hillary's objective, to put Obama's feet to the fire on Iran in front of the whole Jewish community and she succeeded. He failed.

The real question is all this, why didn''t Obama send anyone to represent him at the Anti-Ahmadinejad rally? Why was no one there for Obama?  Did he not want to upset the Hitler wannabee? Is he pandering to his widespread support in the Muslim world or his 22% lead over McCain among Muslim Americans? Whatever the answer, Hillary wanted the question posed. And McCain should be beating that drum incessantly. Yes, Hillary would want that but so what? In this Presidential race, Hillary is a McCain operative even if he doesn't know it.

Another nail in the coffin of Hoenlein. I undertand that Mohammad Razvi will be speaking at the Anti-Ahmadinejad rally (!). Razvi sits on the Muslim Consultative Network along with Dhabah Almontaser, the Islamist forced to resign as principal from the public school madrassa in Brooklyn, The Khalil Gibran International Academy. Almontaser advocated for "intifada' anfd subsequently sued the city (litigation jihad) and lost.

Other members who serve with Razvi include Wissam Nasr, the former CAIR New York director who now runs the oxymoronically named Islamic Institute of Human Rights and Adem [aka Adam] Carroll of ICNA who is the MCN board chairman.

On the criticism of KGIA and Almontaser Razvi states, "It's just outrageous…It is not fair for anyone to make such negative remarks because the school is going to be teaching Arabic as a language. She's a person who brings communities together and makes them understand and works on peace."

Presumably, Razvi's explanation that Almontaser "makes them understand" is a reference to her da'wa efforts. His statement to a reporter, that he thinks his group is under surveillance because of its activities, should come as no surprise.

CORRUPT, RANCID RANGEL CALLS PALIN "DISABLED"

Further, Rangel's Mercedes-Benz was towed yesterday from the House of Representatives parking space he had been using for years in violation of congressional rules.

As a tow truck pulled away the 1972 silver sedan under the watchful eyes of five Capitol police officers, House Republicans voted almost unanimously to oust the Harlem Democrat from his chairmanship of the powerful Ways and Means Committee in the midst of several ethics scandals. ASTONISHING: Rep. Rangel Calls Palin 'Disabled' Marcia Kramer, CBS

Already under fire for his tax troubles, Manhattan Congressman Charles Rangel really put his foot in his mouth on Friday.

In a CBS 2 HD exclusive interview, Rep. Rangel called Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin "disabled."

The question was simple: Why are the Democrats so afraid of Palin and her popularity?

The answer was astonishing.

"You got to be kind to the disabled," Rangel said.

That's right. The chairman of the powerful House Ways & Means Committee called Palin disabled -- even when CBS 2 HD called him on it.

CBS 2 HD: "You got to be kind to the disabled?"

Rangel: "Yes."

CBS 2 HD: "She's disabled?"

Rangel: "There's no question about it politically. It's a nightmare to think that a person's foreign policy is based on their ability to look at Russia from where they live.

Republicans think Rangel's comments are insulting as well as shocking.

"Charlie Rangel's comments are clearly disgraceful," Rep. Peter King, R-Long Island, said. "This is just another liberal Democrat who can't accept an independent woman running for president."

King, who is co-chair of the McCain-Palin campaign in New York, watched Rangel's comments with CBS 2 HD. He was particularly upset because Palin's 4-month-old son, Trig, is disabled. He has Down's syndrome.

"We should be sensitive to her or any woman who has a child or family member who has any affliction at all," King said. "And so to use the word disabled in the context of a female candidate for vice president who has a child who is disabled really is wrong. Charlie owes her and the entire disabled community and apology."

Advocates for the disabled are also upset.

"It makes me feel as if he's trying to put her down, trying to say she's not good for the presidency or the vice presidency," said Michael Imperiale of Disabled In Action Of Metropolitan N.Y.

"A disabled president ran this country. He was disabled. His name was Roosevelt."

A spokesman for the McCain-Palin campaign also piled on, saying that this kind of rhetoric has no place in politics.

FINANCIAL MELTDOWN: BLAME NEED, NOT GREED

The mortgage crisis is not the product of self-interest. It is the product of an anti-self-interest morality in which responsible individuals are required to sacrifice to the needs of those who are not responsible.

Robert Tracinski of The Individual Activist is one of the free world's  leading thinkers (the slave world has no thinkers).  I am a subscriber to TIA daily (daily news and analysis from a pro-reasoned, pro-individualist perspective) and while his daily column is always smart, fresh, and reasoned sometimes Tracinski is so spot on a white hot issue, I run his whole column and run the risk of getting into copyright trouble and incurring his wrath - although he is always a perfect gentleman about it :)

Moral Hazard

Blame Need, Not Greed, for the Mortgage Crisis

The mainstream media and Democratic politicians—is there a difference between the two any more?—have been trying to exploit the mortgage crisis to convince the public that free markets have been discredited. A particularly obnoxious writer with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution even goes to far as to demand to know, "What happened to…[those] who denounced government regulation and read from the holy scriptures as recorded by Ayn Rand?"  

Well, here we are—or at least, here I am—and I am not impressed by the bluster of the anti-capitalists, because they are the ones who are getting this story completely wrong.  

Both Barack Obama and John McCain agree that, in McCain's words, the basic cause of the financial crisis is "self-interest, greed, irresponsibility, and corruption" on Wall Street—as if it is in a Wall Street firm's greedy self-interest to go bankrupt.  

It reminds me of the old joke from the 1939 film Ninotchka, in which a Soviet official misunderstands a basic business transaction and explains it to his comrades: "Capitalistic methods—they accumulate millions by taking loss after loss." Sadly, most politicians are just as helpless in trying to understand the workings of the private economy.  

In reality, the real culprit behind this financial crisis is not the morality of greed, but the morality of need. And speaking of Ayn Rand, what came to my mind in surveying this crisis is a passage from her masterwork, Atlas Shrugged. When the South American copper magnate Francisco D'Anconia is asked about the spectacular failure of a giant mining venture, he explains that he ran it according to the moral principles everyone kept telling him to follow: he worried only about providing employment to his workers, not about producing an actual product, and he hired his employees only the basis of their "need." For example, when he hired a mining specialist to run the operation, D'Anconia explains that "He wasn't a very good specialist, but he needed the job very badly."  

The same pattern applies to the current mortgage crisis. Mortgage lenders made a lot of loans to people who weren't very good credit risks, but who needed the loans very badly. And like D'Anconia, these lenders were merely acting according to the moral principles that everyone kept telling them to follow—as well as the policies that were required of them by government regulators and congressional leaders.  

For more than a decade, the explicit purpose of legislation and regulation coming out of Washington has been to force lenders into extending more loans to financially unstable borrowers. All of this was done for the purpose of providing "affordable housing"—to borrowers who we now know couldn't really afford it.  

The assault on lending standards began in the early 1990s, when the Community Reinvestment Act was invoked to fight alleged discrimination by lenders against minorities and residents of inner-city neighborhoods. It turns out the claims of bias were based on a faulty study, but the damage was done. To redress the supposed discrimination, lenders were encouraged to use "flexible underwriting standards."

A Federal Reserve "guide to equal opportunity lending" for example, offered banks the following advice on how to adjust their lending standards to avoid being punished. Banks should throw out the usual formula for the maximum ratio between the mortgage payment and the borrower's income, because "Many lower-income households are accustomed to allocating a large percentage of their income toward rent." Smaller down payments and closing costs should be accepted because "Accumulating enough savings to cover the various costs associated with a mortgage loan is often a significant barrier to homeownership by lower-income applicants." No comment is necessary for this next one: "Policies regarding applicants with no credit history or problem credit history should be reviewed." And the document urges a more flexible approach to verifying the borrower's income, including giving credit for "welfare payments and unemployment benefits"—which actually count as proof of the borrower's lack of income.  

All of this was meant to increase the number of loans to impoverished blacks in inner-city neighborhoods. But banks were warned that "If an institution permits flexibility in applying underwriting standards"—as they were being required to do by the government—then "it must do so consistently." Which means that the same debased lending standards were encouraged and required for everyone.  

Commentators are now complaining that lenders failed to inquire about the risks of the loans they were making—but in fact they were vigorously discouraged from making such inquiries, or from acting on that knowledge if they discovered it.  

The charge of racial discrimination was the stick the government used to drive down lending standards. But we didn't hear much complaint from the lenders after a while, because the government was also busy doling out carrots.  

Lenders became accustomed to originating loans, then selling them to third-party buyers who packaged the income from these loans into "mortgage-backed securities." This meant that the original lender could make a riskier loan without the fear that he would still be holding the mortgage when the borrower defaulted. But why weren't the buyers of these mortgage-backed securities stricter in their standards regarding what they would buy?  

Here is the next piece of the puzzle. As part of the same "affordable housing" crusade, Congress has systematically encouraged the expansion of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two "government sponsored enterprises" that were formed precisely for the purpose of buying mortgages from the original lenders, guaranteeing the income from these mortgages, and then re-selling them to other investors. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac could keep on guaranteeing these mortgages without trashing their own credit rating because they were backed by the federal government, which put taxpayers on the hook for all of the risks involved.  

This turned out to be a honey pot for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Their government backing allowed them to raise money at lower interest rates than other lenders. This meant they could buy a mortgage originated at a higher interest rate with funds they raised at a lower interest rate—and pocket the difference between the two interest rates.  

Financial analyst Bill Burnham, who consulted for Fannie Mae in the 1990s, describes the consequences of this scam:  

Fannie began a series of largely successful political campaigns to increase the volume of mortgage securities available to fund their habit…. [I]t quickly found…[a] politically palatable way to increase the pool of mortgages it could buy: it dropped underwriting standards under the guise of increasing "home ownership" and "affordability."…  

Fannie Mae began a campaign to increase "home ownership" and "affordability." It created a home ownership "foundation" which opened offices in almost every congressional district and promptly set about mobilizing all the local advocates for "affordable" housing to put pressure on their elected representatives to let Fannie Mae offer "affordable housing programs."…  

This proved to be a highly effective political coalition for Fannie Mae. Not only did they build a huge network of grass roots political supporters through their "foundation," but politicians saw political advantages in supporting the programs because it cast them in the role of trying to help families buy a new home (as opposed to lowering underwriting standards to help a giant corporation keep up its earnings growth by taking a free ride on the US government's guarantee).

But not all of this pressure for lower standards was originated by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. Some of it came back down from Congress. A recent New York Times article describes how "executives of both companies maintain that one of the reasons the firms hold so many bad loans is that Congress has leaned on them for years to buy mortgages from low-income borrowers to encourage affordable housing." In fact, "Once, a high-ranking Democrat telephoned executives and screamed at them to purchase more loans from low-income borrowers, according to a congressional source."   

Who and What is behind the financial crisis?

The financial news is unsettling to say the least. The thought that the government is going to get involved, regulate and put its choke hold on free markets is more disturbing.

It never ceases to amaze me that incompetents rush in where pros fear to tread. I don't think a bunch of bloviators who haven't ever run a successful business for the most part, are going to solve our business problems. Leeches and moochers whose only skill appears to be a propensity for spending other people's money (namely yours and mine) are not going to solve our financial problems.
Any business that made bad decisions, any individual that took a loan he/she couldn't pay, should suffer the fate of their own recklessness. Why should we bail out the drunken sailor?

Every policy decision made by the Dems has hurt the American people. Certainly the ban on drilling for oil and gas, our own natural resources, is the most obvious example.

The Bush administration today recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago.

Under the plan, disclosed at a Congressional hearing today, a new agency would be created within the Treasury Department to assume supervision of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored companies that are the two largest players in the mortgage lending industry.

The new agency would have the authority, which now rests with Congress, to set one of the two capital-reserve requirements for the companies. It would exercise authority over any new lines of business. And it would determine whether the two are adequately managing the risks of their ballooning portfolios.

The plan is an acknowledgment by the administration that oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — which together have issued more than $1.5 trillion in outstanding debt — is broken. A report by outside investigators in July concluded that Freddie Mac manipulated its accounting to mislead investors, and critics have said Fannie Mae does not adequately hedge against rising interest rates.

This should have been a no-brainer, right?  With hindsight, we can see that the Bush administration had accurately diagnosed the problem in the lending market and had a plan to address it.  Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac reluctantly supported the plan.  However, Democrats objected (emphases mine):

Among the groups denouncing the proposal today were the National Association of Home Builders and Congressional Democrats who fear that tighter regulation of the companies could sharply reduce their commitment to financing low-income and affordable housing.

”These two entities — Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — are not facing any kind of financial crisis,” said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. ”The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.”

Representative Melvin L. Watt, Democrat of North Carolina, agreed.

”I don’t see much other than a shell game going on here, moving something from one agency to another and in the process weakening the bargaining power of poorer families and their ability to get affordable housing,” Mr. Watt said.

Fannie Mae is the biggest single source of money for mortgages in the United States. From 1998 to 2004, the years covered by the OFHEO investigation, it was headed by former Clinton budget director Franklin Raines, whose top management team included former Clinton Justice Department official Jamie Gorelick, sometimes mentioned as a future attorney general in a Democratic administration. During that period, the report says, Raines and his team grossly overstated Fannie Mae’s earnings — to the tune of $10.6 billion — for the purpose of paying themselves big bonuses. “By deliberately and intentionally manipulating accounting to hit earnings targets,” the report says, “senior management maximized the bonuses and other executive compensation they received, at the expense of shareholders"…

In doing so, the report says, Raines and his team steered Fannie Mae far afield from its original mission, transforming it from a stable business into a risky one…

Fannie Mae and Freddoe Mac Invest in Lawmakers (hat tip rut)

When the federal government announced two months ago that it would prop up mortgage buyers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, CRP looked at how much money members of Congress had collected since 1989 from the companies. On Sunday the government completely took over the two government-sponsored enterprises, and we've returned to our data to bring you the updates, this time providing a list of all 354 lawmakers who have gotten money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (in July we posted the top 25). These totals are based on data released electronically from the FEC on Sept. 2 and include contributions to lawmakers' leadership PACs and candidate committees from the floundering companies' PACs and employees. Current members of Congress have received a total of $4.8 million from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, with Democrats collecting 57 percent of that. This week we also wrote about how much money lawmakers had invested of their own money in the companies last year--a total of up to $1.7 million.

On a plane from Denver to Charlotte following the Democrats' convention, I found myself seated behind former National Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Don Fowler and Congressman John Spratt of South Carolina. Their conversation was interesting to say the least.

For example, they made fun of Sarah Palin for several minutes, Fowler calling her "Dan Quayle" on steroids and Spratt creatively describing her as "just terrible." They both agreed that, "Other than the simple fact that she's a female," she has nothing to offer.

Voter Registration alive and well in Denver! Several PUMA members were out and about in Denver trying to savor some of the ambiance when they were approached by a group of young people registering voters in Denver. They tried to register this group to vote — all of them are registered voters in other states. The young people never asked where they lived, only if they wanted to register to vote.

These PUMAs caught up with me in between gigs….excited and confused, they needed to tell me the story of voter registration in Denver. These ladies poliely declined to re-register but asked a question of these young people. They asked, where are these voter registration forms going….. the answer: MoveOn.org!

They have endorsed Obama and promised to mobilize their members on Obama’s behalf.

Why are voter registration forms being sent to MoveOn.org?

Why hasn't ACORN been stripped of its eligibility?

ACORN has been caught red handed registering dead people many, many times so why are they still allowed to do this? Why is anyone allowed to do this? Why the need for corrupt organizations to "register voters"?

If it were done properly, as it should be, every voter would register to vote on their own. Voting is a privilege. If you won't get off yer fat keyster to register, you don't deserve the honor of voting of a free republic. Remember those women in Afghanistan crossing over mountains and valleys just to vote? And Iraq?  Think about it.

Organizations such as ACORN seem to exist to hijack the system. As early as  Novemer 2006, I ran it post, "I SEE DEAD PEOPLE...  voting on election day" - appararently  a federal grand jury in Kansas City indicted four persons working for the group Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), accusing them of submitting more than 40,000 voter registration forms with fictitious names, phony signatures and bogus addresses.

Is this the kind of "change" Obambi" is shilling for? Tell me what he brings that is not evil and marxist?

Like I said, why is this group still allowed to register voters?

Soros in Control of National Voter Mobilization Efforts August 26, 2008 –George Soros is the prime mover behind America Votes, an umbrella organization of 48 entities involved in various voter-registration and mobilization drives in 14 states. America Votes received $2.15 million from George Soros and $854,000 from co-conspirator Peter Lewis (total over $3 million) in 2006, and $1.25 million (from Soros), along with $1.25 million from the SEIU and $1 million from (Democracy Alliance) Fund for America, in 2007. The Center for Responsive Politics says that, in 2006, they were the second best-financed election committee behind SEIU. In total, America Votes spent over $7 million in 2007, and has already spent $10 million this year. Reading their website, however, it is very unclear as to exactly what they do with all that money.

The board of America Votes (not to be confused with ACORN’s “Project Vote”) is loaded with Soros-connected operatives, including: SEIU director Anna Burger; Paul Booth operative Larry Scanlon; Howard Dean/MoveOn operative Arshad Hason; Center for Community Change director and Open Society advisor Deepak Bhargava; ACORN President Maude Hurd; and former senior advisor to Nancy Pelosi, Shamina Singh. Martin Frost, a former long-term Democratic Congressman from Dallas, is the titular President of the operation.

This money-stuffed Soros-ruled apparatus is perched in an advisory and intelligence-gathering role with various Democrat-affliliated entities. With ACORN’s “Project Vote,” it is to take the place of the moribund regular Democratic Party apparatus.

In May, much was made of Barack Obama’s public call to stop funding “outside organizations,” which he made following a meeting with his finance committee in Indianapolis. The coverage played this as a loss for David Brock’s Progressive Media USA and John Podesta’s Fund for America. Reading the fine print, however, this call indicated a Soros-led shift away from the public media, and toward more covert “voter registration” effort, all the time under his control. “We’re continuing with our fundraising and things have been going well for us,” Frost told an interviewer at that time.

Cuyahoga board probes ACORN voter registration drive Count Us Out blog

A national organization that conducts voter registration drives for low-income people has curtailed its push in Cuyahoga County after the Board of Elections accused its workers of submitting fraudulent registration cards.

The board is investigating the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. Results of the inquiry could be turned over to the county prosecutor.

Board employees said ACORN workers often handed in the same name on a number of voter registration cards, but showing that person living at different addresses. Other times, cards had the same name listed, but a different date of birth. Still another sign of possible fraud showed a number of people living at an address that turned out to be a restaurant.

“I’m obviously very concerned,” Board Chairman Jeff Hastings said. “This goes to the essence of our democracy.”

ACORN had a part-time staff of 30 who worked five days a week to find unregistered people. The workers made $8 an hour and were required to sign up 20 voters in each five-hour shift.

The elections board’s registration department said in a report that ACORN’s quota contributed to the possible fraud.

ACORN stopped the registration efforts of the part-timers on Aug. 15. Three salaried employees continue the drive to sign up voters.

Kristopher Harsh, head organizer for the agency’s Cleveland office, said it is unlikely a full-fledged movement will resume before the Nov. 4 election.

ACORN has submitted about 75,000 voter registration cards to the Cuyahoga board this year.

Board employees are unsure how many of the cards are fraudulent. But the voter registration department received so many suspicious cards that it began compiling a binder with evidence. The binder grew to be an inch-thick.

These Clinton donors have contributed at least $200,000 to McCain's campaign in the last few months, an amount which doesn't include larger contributions to the Republican joint fundraising committees.

But while Biden's rhetoric on America's relationship with Israel is firm, his positions on issues critically important to Israel's national security call into question his willingness to stand by Israel. He is a staunch supporter of an Israeli transfer of the strategically critical Golan Heights to Syria and has harshly criticized the Bush administration for its refusal to support Israeli negotiations with Syria. At the same time, he downplays the significance of Syria's strategic alliance with Iran and its sponsorship of terrorists in Iraq, Lebanon and the Palestinian Authority. Belittling those ties, Biden has claimed repeatedly and without a shred of evidence that the Syrians really want to put all of that behind them.

Biden's positions on Iran are even more troubling. Over the past decade, since Iran's ballistic missile program and its nuclear program came into full view, Biden has distinguished himself both for his refusal to support tough U.S. diplomatic moves against Iran and for his absolute opposition to the notion of a U.S. military strike on Iran's nuclear installations. In 1998, Biden was one of only four senators to vote against the Iran Missile Proliferation Sanctions Act, a bill that punished foreign companies or other entities that sent Iran sensitive missile technology or expertise.

In February 2005, at a speech before the global Davos Conference, Biden said that Iran's quest for nuclear capabilities is understandable and called on the U.S. to address Iran's "emotional needs by signing a non-aggression pact with the mullocracy.

In September 2007, Biden was one of just a handful of senators who voted against a Senate resolution calling on the State Department to classify Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps a terrorist organization. The Revolutionary Guards is responsible for the insurgency in Iraq and for commanding, financing, arming and training Hizbullah, Hamas and other international terrorist groups. It is also responsible for securing and developing Iran's nuclear weapons project and its ballistic missile arsenal.

For his part, Obama managed to be absent from the Senate during the vote last year, though he stated his objection to the resolution referring to it as "excessively provocative.

As to attacking Iran's nuclear installations, though Biden has claimed he would not take the military option "off the table, he has spoken of impeaching President Bush if he attacks Iran's nuclear installations. Late last year the New Hampshire Seacoast Online reported, "Biden said that the best deterrent to prevent pre-emptive military action n Iran is to make it clear, even if it is at the end of [Bush's] final term, action will be taken against Bush to ensure 'his legacy will be marred for all time.'

In the weeks after the September 11 attacks, Biden was already thinking about appeasing Iran. In a New Republic profile in October 2001, Biden was quoted raising the following suggestion to his Senate staffers: "Seems to me this would be a good time to send, no strings attached, a check for $200 million to Iran.

Klein Out of Line: Does this help West?

Ron Klein forces ZOA member to resign...

Last Thursday (July 24th), the president of the Zionist Organization of America, one of America’s the most respected of  Jewish-American organizations, called ZOA South Florida organization chairman Alan Bergstein and gave him an ultimatum:  stop his volunteer work for West or resign from his ZOA post. According to the West campaign, “it was made clear to Bergstein that Ron Klein was necessary to pass congressional legislation important to ZOA and to Israel.  ZOA has an obligation to its membership to ensure that their issues are considered, so the national office clearly felt it had no choice but to deliver the message to Mr. Bergstein.” 

Think about it for a minute, experts:  if Klein is sending a signal for someone to do give an ultimatum to a campaign volunteer for West, does it not follow that he is somewhat concerned about the Republican challenger?

In March, ZOA had arranged a joint appearance between Klein and West.  Two days before the scheduled event, Klein said he was unable to attend and asked ZOA to cancel the event.  The group refused, the event was held, Allen West did speak, and it was very well-attended.

And Bergstein?  Upset that (in his words) “a Jewish congressman has to threaten Israel and world Jewry by whining over one person’s activities, Bergstein chose the better part of valor, resigned his position with ZOA, and will work hard on the West campaign.

I have passed the report of the ZOA and West on to others, including the Republican Jewish Coalition and Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia, the lone Jewish Republican in the House.  Their response will be interesting—as will those of the political “experts” the next time we review the races.

Allen West responds:

We believe that Mort Klein was put in an untenable position by Ron Klein or his supporters.  Alan Bergstein was given the choice of resigning from either the ZOA or from his volunteer support for Allen West.  We are not aware of any Ron Klein supporters who received a similar phone call.

Mr. Bergstein resigned under protest from the ZOA.  To our knowledge, no mention was made of tax status concerns but even if the question had been raised, the remedy offered was an over-reaction.

Mr. Bergstein honored the group's rules when he set up the candidate forum that started this ball rolling.  Allen West appreciated the hospitality extended to him by the local ZOA and also honored their rules in his comments to them.

This argument is not--and should not be--between Allen West and the ZOA.  It is more properly directed at Ron Klein, without whose inappropriate pressure this would not have occurred.

The Soldier Voting Scandal Thursday, July 24, 2008 By Robert D. Novak

Rep. Roy Blunt, the House Republican whip, on July 8 introduced a resolution demanding that the Defense Department do a better job of enabling the U.S. military personnel overseas to vote in the November elections. That act was followed by silence. Democrats normally leap on an opportunity to find fault with the Bush Pentagon. But not a single Democrat joined Blunt as a co-sponsor, and an all-Republican proposal cannot pass in the Democratic-controlled House.  

Analysis by the federal Election Assistance Commission, rejecting inflated Defense Department voting claims, estimated overseas and absentee military voting for the 2006 midterm elections at a disgracefully low 5.5 percent. The quality of voting statistics is so poor that there is no way to tell how many of the slightly over 330,000 votes actually were sent in by the absentee military voters and their dependents and how many by civilian Americans living abroad -- 6 million in total.  

Nobody who has studied the question objectively sees any improvement since 2006, and that is a scandal. Retired U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Charles Henry wrote in the July issue of the U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings: “While virtually everyone involved … seems to agree that military people deserve at least equal opportunity when it comes to having their votes counted, indications are that in November 2008, many thousands of service members who try to vote will do so in vain.”

At least!

Henry, now an independent broadcast journalist, has personal experience with this enduring scandal. While serving as a Marine at sea off Iran, he received his 1980 presidential ballot too late to count. President Harry Truman said of troops fighting in Korea, “The least we at home can do is to make sure that they are able to enjoy the rights they are being asked to fight to preserve.” But the U.S. military that has so perfected the art of war over the past half-century is at a loss to enable soldiers to vote.

WEXLER'S RESIDENTIAL FRAUD

One of the most liberal members of Congress in Florida Robert Wexler (Obamapropagandist and notorious leftist)  is not a resident of his district. He has lived in Maryland since the late 90s.  He claims to live in a  house in Del Ray (owned by his mother-law)  in an active adult community  where no children are allowed, though he has three children). You can't live there with kids, it's against the rules of the community.

Another example of Democrat hubris  - I am above the law. It seems he has no connection to Florida at all. Clearly it's a phantom residence, he ain't sleeping on monster-in-law's  couch with his three children.John Fund wrote earlier today (hat tip Larwyn)

An opponent of U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Delray Beach, has accused the six-term congressman of playing a residency shell game, saying Wexler pretends to keep an address in Florida while flagrantly making his home in Maryland.

"The house he lists on his voter registration is his in-laws' house in a gated 55-and-older community," Lynch said this afternoon. "Legally, he can't move back with children under 18."

Lynch said Wexler's three children attend Charles W. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, Md... Lynch, meanwhile, said he intends to file legal papers about the issue in the coming weeks.

[Since his children can't even legally live there] "...it is not truly his home, and it can't be his home, and he's using that address as his address to vote from," Lynch said... Lynch faces Wexler and no-party candidate Ben Graber in the Nov. 4 election for Florida's 19th Congressional District.

Everyday we have to slog through Democrat skulduggery. Where does he pay his taxes? The man has a giant house in the tony suburb of Potomac where he lives with his wife and family. This is typical democrat behavior - think Charles Rangel  with his 4, yeah 4, rent stabilized apartments in NYC where it is impossible to find housing.

Robert Wexler, Barack Obama's leading Congressional cheerleader and the man who has worked mightily to convince supporters of the American-Israel alliance that Obama can be relied upon to enhance Israel 's security against Iranian threats to destroy it, indicates he may very well oppose a Congressional Resolution meant to pressure Iran to comply with international demands regarding its nuclear program.

He willfully misleads -as others on the left have done- on the nature of this resolution. They, and Wexler, believe that the Resolution calls for a naval blockade and characterize this as an act of war. They are wrong. The Resolution merely calls upon the President to initiate an "international effort to impose stringent inspection requirements on all persons, vehicles, ships, planes, trains and cargo entering or departing Iran ". This is not a blockade and willfully misinterpreting it to be so is wrong and this interpretation is supported by very clear language in the rest of the Resolution that expressly states that "nothing in this Resolution should be construed as an authorization of the use of force against Iran ". Inspections are not an uncommon feature of non-proliferation efforts. The Proliferation Security Initiative recognizes the importance of being able to interdict and inspect suspect shipments.

The discovery of a ship containing nuclear research material on its way to Libya was key to the discovering and unraveling of the A.Q. Khan nuclear smuggling network and the terminating of Libya 's nuclear program.    Regardless, how reliable Wexler's assurances are regarding Barack Obama when he advocates, even at the expense of honesty, an appeasement approach that will strengthen Iran .

Of course, Wexler makes this announcement on the left-wing Huffington Post  where he has  a column.   To wit, Wexler writes:

Despite being a cosponsor of this resolution -- these changes will ultimately determine whether or not I will continue to support H. Con. Res. 362.

So Barack Obama's chief supporter in the House, a man who the Senator has all but appointed as an Ambassador to the Jewish community, seems willing to misinterpret a Resolution in such a way to serve the interests of Iran .

I called Congressman Wexler's office (202) 225-3001 and spoke to a man named "Josh" , asking if the Congressman has issued a formal statement on the issue and whether he has or would make public his income tax returns so we could see if he paid Md taxes or claimed Fla residency. He transferred me to the Congressman's voice mail where I repeated the questions.

The voice mail message says the Congressman regularly listens to his voice mail.

I think the House Ethics Committee ought to be opening a file on the Congressman to see if he has evaded applicable tax laws and violated Florida's residency requirements for running for office.

I called an attorney at the General Counsel's office to see if anyone has filed a complaint and if there are any cases dealing with perjury on candidate petition forms.

They responded and said it was a federal matter, not a state one. That as to his present eligibility inquiry should be made to the Speaker of the House of Representatives or a challenge can be made iin federal district court in Florida.

As to whether he is liable for past election fraud, inquiry should be made to the Florida Attorney General.

Insofar as "techdude's" credentials, he is an active member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, American College of Forensic Examiners, The International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners, International Information Systems Forensics Association - the list goes on. He also a board certified as a forensic computer examiner, a certificated legal investigator, and a licensed private investigator. He has been performing computer based forensic investigations since 1993 (although back then it did not even have a formal name yet) and he has performed countless investigations since then.

Obama’s Birth Certificate – CHANGE you can believe in.

I have decided to leave out the low level technicalities and the how-to section of this report due to a lack of time and more importantly I want to get the facts out as quickly as possible. As some of you may or may not know some asshat decided to track me down and vandalize my car and hang a dead mutilated rabbit from my front door in a lame attempt to intimidate me from proceeding with releasing any details of my analysis. They did succeed in delaying the report by a few days but instead of deterring me they just really pissed me off. To their credit, if I had not taken a few days off from the analysis I would have missed the most damning piece of evidence – the remnants of the previous security border. So to the demented retard who slaughtered an animal to make a point – f*ck you and thank you. And because of the amazing number of violent psychopaths who seem to be drawn to this issue, I am not going to use or supply any details that can be used to identify the owners of the COLBS used in the analysis except for those which have already been publicly disclosed. If the owners want to come forward on their own that is entirely their decision. Now let’s get to the summarized report.

In questioned document analysis there are several methods for detecting forgeries – the most basic of which is to conduct a side by side evaluation of known good samples to compare against the questioned one and to use an alternate light source to highlight the changes in the color and density of the inks and paper. In the case at hand there are no questioned physical documents to examine so I used the same basic techniques modified for the digital age for use in computer forensic analysis.

The following analysis was conducted using various Hawaiian COLBS issued over a multi-year time frame ranging from 2001 through 2008 but this report will focus only on the results from the March 2007 through June 2008 certificates for accurately comparing against the KOS image purportedly printed by the Health Department of Hawaii in June 2007. I am only interested in comparing apples to apples as they say but I will touch on some of the other years for a brief comparative and observational analysis.

Since the image presented is a graphical image and not a physical certificate I made the concerted effort to track down known good certificates and certificates images to use for the analysis. Thanks to several individuals I managed to collect and review multiple images of certificates issued between 2001 through 2003 all of which bore an identical layout to the previous Decosta image which was issued during the same time frame. Several more certificate images and physical certificates were also sent to me of certificates issued between 2006 through 2008 directly by their respective owners.  All of the 2006 through 2008 certificates bore an identical layout to one another. Several copies of the images were created to allow digital modifications to be made without altering the original images. MD5 and SHA1 signatures were generated for each of the images and their duplicates. The signatures of the duplicates matched against their originals and the original images were then moved to a separate protected directory on the server.

By separating the certificate issue dates into groups the pre-2006 certificates show a clearly different security border design than the more recent 2006 through 2008 design. There were no other visually detectible modifications to the layout of the certificates between all time frames aside from the additional change from the DATE ACCPETED to DATE FILED headings.

All known good certificate images from all time frames examined shared an apparent identical layout and font. Each of the available un-cropped full certificate images, from all time frames, showed the security borders to be almost perfectly centered from left to right within the lower 2/3 rd portion of the 8 ½ x 11 inch page with all deviations off center being within 15 pixels. Measurements were taken from the top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right, center top, and center bottom of each images security border to the edges of the visible paper which appeared as hard edges with the top cover of the scanners creating whitespace.

The embossed seals and ink stamps in all of the pre-2006 images are clearly visible in the scans however none of the post-2006 seals or ink stamps are visible without extensive manipulation to the digital images. Even when scanning the physical post-2006 certificate in my possession using multiple resolutions and using multiple scanners I was also unable to produce an image which would allow the seal to show though the image. The ink stamps on the rear side were also not visible in the front side scans without digital modifications to the scanned images. My scans of the physical certificate also produced the same results using multiple resolutions and using multiple scanners. 

The post-2006 COLBs were then compared against one another for a direct 1:1 comparison. Using copies of the images I digitally enhanced and modified the scans by removing only the hatch pattern background and then removing the merged information fields leaving just the raw document templates and saving them as a series of digital overlay templates. When the 2006 overlay was placed on top of the 2007 image they matched from corner to corner with some minor variations on the minute angle of the images. The fonts were observed to be in the same locations and of the same size and kerning. The procedure was then used with the 2006 overlay on top of the 2008 image. Once again, they matched from corner to corner with some minor variations on the minute angle of the images. The fonts were observed to be in the same locations and of the same size, style, and kerning. The 2007 overlay was then applied on top of the 2008 image. The 2007 and 2008 also matched from corner to corner with some minor variations on the minute angle of the images. The fonts were observed to be in the same locations and of the same size, style, and kerning. Having verified that all of the examined post-2006 certificates were identical in form and substance I then focused the rest of the analysis using the 2007 and 2008 COLB KOS image to pin the document into the middle of the known time frame.

The same measurement methodology was used against the full un-cropped KOS image and showed the security borders to be uncentered from left to right within the lower 2/3 rd portion of the 8 ½ x 11 inch page with a deviation from the other measurements off center being the average of 75 pixels – a 60 pixel greater deviation. Measurements were taken from the top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right, center top, and center bottom of each images security border to the edges of the visible paper which appeared as hard edges with the top cover of the scanners creating whitespace. The differences are also detectible visually without the use of digital enhancements.

The previously created overlays were placed on top of the image. When the 2007 overlay was placed on top of the image they did not immediately line up. After being matched from security border corner to security border corner with some minor variations on the minute angle of the images the security border pattern obviously did not match in pattern or in color. The fonts were observed to not be in the same locations and they also did not share same kerning. The procedure was then used with the 2008 overlay on top of the KOS image. Once again when the 2008 overlay was placed on top of the image they did not immediately line up. After being matched from corner to corner like the 2007 overlay again with some minor variations on the minute angle of the images the security border pattern obviously did not match in pattern or in color. The fonts were observed to not be in the same locations on the page and they also did not share same kerning.

A direct relative comparison using unmodified copies of the original images were made in regards to the security border pattern and color. Several distinctions were noted from the 2007 / 2008 certificate security border versus the security border used in the KOS image.

The metadata and EXIF information was then extracted from the 2007, 2008, and the two images. The metadata extracted from the JPG files consisted of the quantization tables used for compressing the image and the EXIF data if it was present.

The 2007 image’s rate of compression was calculated to an approximated 75% quality factor at 300 dpi with an image size of 2550 x 3300 pixels in a portrait orientation and contained no EXIF data.

The 2008 image’s rate of compression was calculated to an approximated 80% quality factor at 300 dpi with an image size of 2550 x 3300 pixels in a portrait orientation and also contained no EXIF data.

The un-cropped image’s rate of compression was calculated to an approximated 90% quality factor at 300 dpi with an image size of 2550 x 3300 pixels in a portrait orientation and also contained the following relevant EXIF data:

The cropped image’s rate of compression was calculated to an approximated 50% quality factor at 300 dpi with an image size of 2427 x 2369 pixels in a landscape orientation and also contained the following relevant EXIF data:

The 2007, 2008, and the two KOS images were then analyzed by creating a heat map showing where each pixel changes as jpeg quality decreases from 100 to 0. A change was considered relevant once the sum of the changes to the red, green, and blue values exceeded 10%. The heat map created from the 2007 and 2008 images showed the fonts, seal image, and security border are all identical consistent values. To eliminate any subjective presumptions and to increase the number of comparative tests the same analysis was then conducted on the 2006 and prior certificate images which all found the fonts, seal images, and security borders to also be saved with identical consistent values. The same analysis on the KOS images showed the security border having a substantially different RGB quality value than the fonts and the seal image.

The 2007, 2008, and the two KOS images were also analyzed for jpeg compression variations by creating a heat map showing where the difference for a particular compression level is indicated. A change was considered relevant once the sum of the changes to the error level values exceeded 10% of the previously calculated compression error rates. The heat map created from the 2007 and 2008 images showed the fonts, seal image, and security border are all identical consistent values. To eliminate any subjective presumptions and to increase the number of comparative tests the same analysis was then conducted on the 2006 and prior certificate images which all found the fonts, seal images, and security borders to also be compressed with identical consistent values. The same analysis on the KOS image indicated that the security border has a different error value than the fonts and the seal image.

The image contains numerous visible artifacts located at various points throughout the image. These artifacts are not found on any other known good image from any examined time frame. I began creating a pixel level map of these errors by using a copy of the full un-cropped version and simply highlighting the areas by drawing a pixel wide line to the left and to the right of each visible flaw. The left side of the image towards the inside edge of the security border contained stray vertical lines that did not match up to any of the jpeg compression artifacts so they were highlighted. The right side of the image contained visual pixel level inconsistencies in the background hatch pattern. The right side pattern is visually consistent with the artifacts left after digitally erasing an area from an image and attempting to rebuild the background.

By connecting the points together the original placement of what appears to be part of the original security border becomes apparent. The placement of the lines matches the expected location of a good security border based on the known placement from the known good certificates. The width and spacing of the highlighted areas also match a 1:1 scale overlay from a section of a known good security border.

A close examination of the security border itself reveals several repeating inconsistencies. Among them is a “weak line” which repeats once after every second bold line and a slightly downward curving end point where a straight line should end. This pattern continues around the entire perimeter of the security border. Upon very close inspection portions of the security border also repeat every 240 pixels. By mapping this repeating pattern it becomes apparent that the pattern is laid out as a 240 x 240 pixel square that can be accurately extrapolated to the next position by simply counting 240 pixels. This type of tiling effect is commonly seen when an image has been modified by filling an area using an image editing application’s tile or pattern fill function.

During the course of my analysis several calls were made to various departments in the Hawaiian State Government in an attempt to better understand the process and procedures used to create, print, and distribute copies of the COLB form. While I was brushed off or hung up upon by almost all of the people I contacted I did manage to talk with a computer technician who was familiar with the computers and printers used by the Department of Health and the clerk’s offices. He was unwilling to give any specific details but did provide enough information to work with. The COLB certificates are printed directly in the clerk’s office at the time they are requested. The system uses a standard laser printer and the border is printed at the same time as the text and other images on top of preprinted security paper. He stated the border is a vector image and would appear crisp and defined. When asked if a COLB can be printed off center he said it was not possible and any misfeed would simply jam in the printer. When asked if he had seen the images on-line he replied that he had – and that there is “no way” they had printed something that looked like that which further backed up my conclusions. Now let’s start to put the pieces of the puzzle together. The KOS image security border pattern does not match any known specimen from any known year. It does not match the pre-2006 nor does it match the post-2006 certificate patterns. The placement of the text in all of the pre-2006 and post-2006 certificates are almost identical pixel location matches while the image’s text placement does not match any known specimen from any known year. The shape and kerning of the fonts used in the 2006 through 2008 certificates are identical while the shape and kerning of the fonts used in the image does not match any known specimen. The KOS image shows clear signs of tampering such as the mismatch in RGB and error levels, visible indications of the previous location of the erased security border, easily detectable patterns of repeating flaws around the new security border, EXIF data that says the image was last saved with Photoshop CS3 for Macintosh, and finally a technician from Hawaii who confirms it just looks wrong.

There are two obvious scenarios used to create the image that can be ascertained from evidence. Either a real COLB was scanned into Photoshop and digitally edited or a real COLB was first scanned to obtain the graphic layout then blanked by soaking the document in solvent to remove the toner. After rescanning the blank page to a separate image the graphics from the previously obtained scan could then be easily applied to the blank scan after some editing and rebuilding. It would also explain why date stamp bleeds through the paper and the various bits of toner located around the image as well as the remnants of the previous location of a security border.

So as I have been saying repeatedly since I first compared the KOS images to the Decosta image using the same tests and measurements – the image is a horrible forgery.

Today House Republican Leader John Boehner issued a statement indicating that Democrats are seeking to quash the right of Members of Congress to have free speech. According to the statement, the Democrats are looking at restricting Member content on websites outside the house.gov domain. Congressman Culberson is quickly becoming a "real time representative" by posting on Twitter.com, where he sends regular updates from the House floor and the halls of Congress, and on Qik.com, where he films and posts video updates on the Internet. This new technology allows him to bypass the mainstream media and shine sunlight into the darkest corners of Congress. If the Democrats strong-arm this rule, he would no longer be able to use these websites and our fundamental right to free speech will be taken away.

The following is Mr. Boehner's statement:

I’m writing to alert you to an attack on free speech that is making its way through Congress. This attack, which should concern activists of all political affiliations across the ideological spectrum, comes in the form of a new congressional rule that would prohibit Americans from viewing content published by Members of Congress on websites that are not “approved” by the Committee on House Administration, the panel that creates rules governing the internal operations of the U.S. House.

Millions of Americans today utilize free, unregulated and uncensored websites like YouTube on a daily basis to not only obtain information from their elected leaders about what’s going on in their government, but to also give feedback and easily share that information with others. The advent of new media technology has empowered American citizens with real-time information about the policy debates and actions being undertaken by Congress. This has increasingly forced Congress to become more transparent and made it easier for American citizens to hold their elected leaders accountable.

The Committee on House Administration is considering a new rule that could bring this trend to a screeching halt. The Committee is considering the adoption of new rules that would require outside websites such as YouTube to comply with House regulations before Members of Congress could post videos on them. Under the proposal, the House Administration Committee would develop a list of “approved” websites, and Members of Congress could post content only such websites.

If the proposed rule is adopted, the free flow of information over the Internet between Americans and their representatives will be significantly curtailed. Americans who currently use free websites like YouTube to obtain uncensored daily information about congressional policy debates will instead be forced to go to websites “approved” by the House Administration Committee in order to continue getting such information. This would amount to new government censorship of the Internet, by a panel of federal officials that is neither neutral nor independent.

House Republicans, led by Reps. Vern Ehlers (R-MI), Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and Tom Price (R-GA), have expressed their opposition to this attack on Internet freedom and proposed an alternative solution that would allow Members of Congress to continue posting content at sites of their choosing. "That man is a fascist!" one protester yelled. Another swore at him.

Protesters made it hard to hear President Bush Friday as he welcomed new citizens and marked Independence Day at the home of Thomas Jefferson.

As is the tradition each Fourth of July, a naturalization ceremony was held at Monticello in Charlottesville, Va. This year, 76 immigrants from 30 different countries came to take the oath of citizenship.

But Bush repeatedly was interrupted as he welcomed the guests.

The protesters later were removed from the ceremony by law enforcement officials.

"To my fellow citizens to be — we believe in free speech in the United States of America," Bush said when the protesters started shouting.

To the din of more yelling, Bush discussed Jefferson’s legacy as he introduced the citizens.

"We also honor Jefferson's legacy by welcoming newcomers to our land, and that is what we’re here to celebrate today."

There's a great new blog on the President's visit  today to Charlottesville  to address new citizens on 4th of July. The asshats, moonbats and leftards were out in full force. President Bush is spending July 4th at the home of the man who wrote the Declaration of Independence. He'll be visiting Thomas Jefferson's hilltop home, Monticello, in Charlottesville, Va. and taking part in Monticello's annual naturalization ceremony, addressing 76 new American citizens. The leftist planned the ambush well in advance.

The “Charlottesville Center for Peace and Justice” then allowed Mr. Swanson to use its website to urge those who share his views to "Bring as many people as you can, and each request the maximum of four tickets. Go early!" (implied: regardless of whether they actually needed the extra tickets). Early reports indicate that members of the CCP&J and other (supposed) "peace" groups camped out through the night, or arrived extremely early, to fulfill Mr. Swanson's request. This action clearly prevented other (truly) peaceful local citizens from attending --- while providing anarchists with the maximum opportunity to orchestrate disruptions of the event.

"The pictures below are some of the ones he used on behalf of his client (not these exactly as these were forwarded to me from a friend who did not identify the source). His client was the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Their headline was “If you care about Mother Earth, you should support opening ANWR.” They went on to explain in detail about the methods and care taken to protect the environment while drilling for the energy that is the lifeblood of our economy –and way of life.    I was surprised, too."

Bottom line. When you hear Demoncrats saying ANWR won't solve all of our oil problems. Let me say - no one answer will (until some genius scientist develops a synthetic oil). Until such time, we must take many proactive actions. ANWR, shale, coastal drilling etc. -- altogether these solutions will relieve us of the horrible dependence we have on jihad oil.

It is no secret that public discourse in this country has become very shrill. Blogs on the left regularly feature vulgar diatribes against the right. Some on the right do the same. Keith Olbermann tells the President to "shut the hell up" on his television program. The New York Times publicly reveals the name of a CIA agent who did the dirty work of interrogating captured Al Qaeda operatives. The left says, "So, the right did it to Valerie Plame," treating as morally equivalent the disclosure of the spy no longer spying and the disclosure of one of the men Al Qaeda would love to behead.

While Congress has also descended into a more shrill style, until yesterday it had not crossed one line of civility that never should be crossed on either side.

David Addington is the Vice President's Chief of Staff. Yesterday, he testified before Congress.

During the course of the hearing, Congressman and Obama Superdelegate William Delahunt (MA-10) asked Mr. Addington about water boarding. Mr. Addington responded that he would not go into details because Al Qaeda is probably watching.

Congressman Delahunt's response was, "I'm glad they finally have a chance to see you."

Mr. Delahunt now denies he meant what he said. But what he clearly said was "I'm glad they finally have a chance to see you." Al Qaeda now knows the face of one of the men who relentlessly pursues its henchmen and deals with their interrogations. Mr. Addington volunteered for public service, not a death sentence with Congressional encouragement. Mr. Delahunt is both a vile liar and a cowardly lion willing to roar down at Mr. Addington while encouraging terrorists to do his dirty work in a war he has been ineffective at stopping.

The left, while attacking Charlie Black for stating the obvious -- that a terrorist incident helps the GOP politically because they are seen as more competent in the national security arena -- is defending this degradation of congressional discourse and vile swipe at Mr. Addington.

This discourse — a member of Congress glad Al Qaeda has a face it can pursue — is beneath the dignity of the Congress and beneath the dignity of civil discourse in this country.

If you do not call your Congressman today and demand the House of Representatives, at the very *least*, censure Congressman Delahunt, well damn us all. We have no right to carry on our fight.

NC, ABC, CBS, New York Times having to give eual time to every leftist position and slant would be the greatest thing that could happen to America. This sadly is not the case. The fairness doctrine would usher in a dark age. The American people have no clue what is going down.

The name itself is Randian "fairness doctrine". It is so Ellsworth Toohey. These folks are frightening, really scary.

 

Pelosi on 'Hush Rush,' and Filibustering FISA

The speaker of the House made it clear to me and more than forty of my colleagues yesterday that a bill by Rep. Mike Pence (R.-Ind.) to outlaw the “Fairness Doctrine” (which a liberal administration could use to silence Rush Limbaugh, other radio talk show hosts and much of the new alternative media) would not see the light of day in Congress during ’08.  In ruling out a vote on Pence’s proposed Broadcaster's Freedom Act, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-CA.) also signaled her strong support for revival of the “Fairness Doctrine” -- which would require radio station owners to provide equal time to radio commentary when it is requested.

Experts say that the “Fairness Doctrine,” which was ended under the Reagan Administration, would put a major burden on small radio stations in providing equal time to Rush Limbaugh and other conservative broadcasters, who are a potent political force.  Rather than engage in the costly practice of providing that time, the experts conclude, many stations would simply not carry Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and other talk show hosts who are likely to generate demands for equal time.

At a breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor yesterday, I asked Pelosi if Pence failed to get the required signatures on a discharge petition to get his anti-Fairness Doctrine bill out of committee, would she permit the Pence measure to get a floor vote this year.

“No,” the Speaker replied, without hesitation.  She added that “the interest in my caucus is the reverse” and that New York Democratic Rep. “Louise Slaughter has been active behind this [revival of the Fairness Doctrine] for a while now.”

Pelosi pointed out that, after it returns from its Fourth of July recess, the House will only meet for another three weeks in July and three weeks in the fall.  There are a lot of bills it has to deal with before adjournment, she said, such as FISA and an energy bill.

“So I don’t see it [the Pence bill] coming to the floor,” Pelosi said.

“Do you personally support revival of the ‘Fairness Doctrine?’” I asked.

“Yes,” the speaker replied, without hesitation

And Lo and Behold, we've got the Lincoln disser, the guy who brought Jerry Wright, and by extension Farrakhan to the table. The guy who befriends Ayers, Dohrn, anti-Semites like Brezinzski, McPeak, Power, Islamofascists like Said and Khalidi. And yes, the guy who once proclaimed that "Republicans discovered Black people" while he admires and respects Robert Byrd.

Not once has any of the above demanded Byrd's resignation. Obama? You've got to be kidding! You would think there's a sense of honor and dignity, but no. It's Trent Lott, Tom DeLay, and Republicans they'll go after and call the Taliban or much worse.

For all his Ivy League learning, Obama never learned a damn thing about History - and neither, apparently Bill Moyers in not mentioning once the disgusting history of the White Democratic Party in the South between 1865-1970.

So yes, for this former Civil Rights worker, there is a lot of anger towards a Racial Hypocrite like Obama. My blood is on the ground so that he, Jesse Jackson and Condi Rice can make total assholes of themselves, or that we can have Black Nazis like Jerry Wright. But hey, this is America.

Rasmussen reported:

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey—conducted before McCain announced his intentions on the issue--finds that 67% of voters believe that drilling should be allowed off the coasts of California, Florida and other states. Only 18% disagree and 15% are undecided. Conservative and moderate voters strongly support this approach, while liberals are more evenly divided (46% of liberals favor drilling, 37% oppose).

Sixty-four percent (64%) of voters believe it is at least somewhat likely that gas prices will go down if offshore oil drilling is allowed, although 27% don't believe it. Seventy-eight percent (78%) of conservatives say offshore drilling is at least somewhat likely to drive prices down. That view is shared by 57% of moderates and 50% of liberal voters.

Al-Shabnan Charged With Failure To Report Child Abuse

The director of a Saudi government-funded Islamic school has been arrested and charged with failing to report a child abuse allegation, adding to scrutiny of the northern Virginia academy as protesters came out Tuesday to call for a federal investigation of its teachings.

 

Abdalla I. Al-Shabnan, director of the Islamic Saudi Academy, was also charged with obstruction of justice, according to a police report about the June 9 arrest.

The misdemeanor counts come at a time when the private school is under heavy criticism from a federal commission and others over textbooks that allegedly teach violence and hate. More than a dozen protesters lined up outside the school Tuesday, waving signs that read "Saudi hate is not an American family value" and "Islamic Shariah teaches violence and hate."

The protesters, including the conservative Traditional Values Coalition, want the Justice and State departments to investigate the school. The State Department last year obtained copies of the school's textbooks but has so far refused to make them public.

Andrea Lafferty, executive director of the Traditional Values Coalition, said the arrest of al-Shabnan is just further evidence of problems at the school. "The academy is a virtual one-stop shopping center for law enforcement," she said, citing the case of a former school valedictorian, Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, who was convicted of joining al-Qaida after leaving the school and plotting to assassinate President Bush.

Al-Shabnan's arrest came after police alleged he covered up an incident in which a 5-year-old girl attending the school reported that she was being sexually abused by her father. According to court papers, Al-Shabnan, 52, of McLean, told police that he didn't believe the girl, and advised the girl's parents to put her into counseling. But state law requires school authorities to report alleged child abuse within 72 hours of learning of the allegation.

Al-Shabnan is free pending trial. Police said in court papers that Al-Shabnan ordered a written report about the girl's complaint, which had been prepared by other school officials, to be deleted from a school computer.

Al-Shabnan has not returned repeated phone calls and e-mails from The Associated Press seeking comment over the last week. Last week, a federal commission issued a report detailing numerous troubling passages from school textbooks. A 12th-grade text on Quranic interpretation teaches students that it is permissible for Muslims to kill adulterers and converts from Islam, according to the investigation by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, a panel created by Congress that monitors religious freedom rights around the world.

12th grade? They are teaching this sedition and treason and murder to 17 year olds and the State department is protecting them. Who the hell is the State department working for?

Other passages in the school's textbooks state that "the Jews conspired against Islam and its people" and that Muslims are permitted to take the lives and property of those deemed "polytheists." The school issued a statement saying the textbooks had been mistranslated and misinterpreted and that some of the textbooks studied by the commission are no longer in use. But the statement offered no detailed explanation of the specific passages cited by the commission, and school officials have not returned calls seeking comment.

Generally, the school has said in the past that some of the textbooks it uses come from Saudi Arabia and contain harsh language inappropriate for use in the United States. The school has said it revises the textbooks as needed. Indeed, the commission found evidence that individual passages were removed from individual textbooks, sometimes covered up with correction fluid.

But John Cosgrove of Springfield, Va., one of the protesters outside the school, said the revisions are even more troubling given the passages cited in the commission's report that were not deleted. "It stands to reason that the material they left in is material they think is acceptable," Cosgrove said. The commission and other critics of the school say the State Department ought to take a more assertive role in regulating the school because it functions as an arm of the Saudi embassy.

Also, the school's lease with Fairfax County specifically gives the State Department the right to intervene if it has concerns about the academy. Protesters also criticized the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors for voting unanimously last month to extend the school's lease. The lease was extended after county officials conducted their own review of the textbooks and said they didn't find any serious problems.  The board's chairman -- Gerry Connolly, who is the Democratic nominee for Congress in Virginia's 11th District -- offered a strong defense of the school and accused the school's critics of slander during the meeting in which the lease was approved.

ROCKEFELLER AND CO: INCAPABLE OF INTELLIGENCE

First off, must read editorial in The NY SUN: "These are inconvenient facts for Democrats that decided some time in 2004 that they could wash their hands of the war for Iraq by claiming they were duped by the president and his conservative backers. It turns out that even their own investigation mocks their claim."

Guess who wrote that? If you have been following the Democratic Party's narrative on Iraq, you might guess Ahmad Chalabi, Douglas Feith, Vice President Cheney or some neoconservatives hell bent on twisting intelligence to overstate the connection between Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden. But those words are from Carl Ford, assistant state secretary for intelligence and research, whose bureau was singled out for praise after the war for its dissenting assessment of Iraq's nuclear program.

Read it all.

Also the committee looked at only the finished intelligence products but not the daily spot analyses the intelligence community produces for senior administration officials. Mr. Rockefeller decided to exclude a handwritten note from the CIA's terrorism analyst of the Mr. Bush's 2002 speech in Cincinnati on the eve of the Congressional vote authorizing the war saying the paragraphs about Iraq and terrorism were "all-Okay." Wrote Senators Bond, Chambliss, Hatch, and Burr in an addendum to the report: "Apparently the majority did not think this was something the public needed to know since they denied our request to include it and did not allow a vote on the amendment offered to fix this shortcoming."

There were reports over the weekend that Congressmen are going to have an agenda in Congress to promote Obama. Rockefeller-big Obama supporter-in part of this campaign. (hat tip Lasky) Over at WaPo:

But dive into Rockefeller's report, in search of where exactly President Bush lied about what his intelligence agencies were telling him about the threat posed by Saddam Hussein, and you may be surprised by what you find.

On Iraq's nuclear weapons program? The president's statements "were generally substantiated by intelligence community estimates."

On biological weapons, production capability and those infamous mobile laboratories? The president's statements "were substantiated by intelligence information."

On chemical weapons, then? "Substantiated by intelligence information."

On weapons of mass destruction overall (a separate section of the intelligence committee report)? "Generally substantiated by intelligence information." Delivery vehicles such as ballistic missiles? "Generally substantiated by available intelligence." Unmanned aerial vehicles that could be used to deliver WMDs? "Generally substantiated by intelligence information."

As you read through the report, you begin to think maybe you've mistakenly picked up the minority dissent. But, no, this is the Rockefeller indictment. So, you think, the smoking gun must appear in the section on Bush's claims about Saddam Hussein's alleged ties to terrorism.

But statements regarding Iraq's support for terrorist groups other than al-Qaeda "were substantiated by intelligence information." Statements that Iraq provided safe haven for Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and other terrorists with ties to al-Qaeda "were substantiated by the intelligence assessments," and statements regarding Iraq's contacts with al-Qaeda "were substantiated by intelligence information." The report is left to complain about "implications" and statements that "left the impression" that those contacts led to substantive Iraqi cooperation.

In the report's final section, the committee takes issue with Bush's statements about Saddam Hussein's intentions and what the future might have held. But was that really a question of misrepresenting intelligence, or was it a question of judgment that politicians are expected to make?

After all, it was not Bush, but Rockefeller, who said in October 2002: "There has been some debate over how 'imminent' a threat Iraq poses. I do believe Iraq poses an imminent threat. I also believe after September 11, that question is increasingly outdated. . . . To insist on further evidence could put some of our fellow Americans at risk. Can we afford to take that chance? I do not think we can."

Rockefeller was reminded of that statement by the committee's vice chairman, Sen. Christopher S. Bond (R-Mo.), who with three other Republican senators filed a minority dissent that includes many other such statements from Democratic senators who had access to the intelligence reports that Bush read. The dissenters assert that they were cut out of the report's preparation, allowing for a great deal of skewing and partisanship, but that even so, "the reports essentially validate what we have been saying all along: that policymakers' statements were substantiated by the intelligence."

Why does it matter, at this late date? The Rockefeller report will not cause a spike in "Bush Lied" mug sales, and the Bond dissent will not lead anyone to scrape the "Bush Lied" bumper sticker off his or her car.

But the phony "Bush lied" story line distracts from the biggest prewar failure: the fact that so much of the intelligence upon which Bush and Rockefeller and everyone else relied turned out to be tragically, catastrophically wrong.

And it trivializes a double dilemma that President Bill Clinton faced before Bush and that President Obama or McCain may well face after: when to act on a threat in the inevitable absence of perfect intelligence and how to mobilize popular support for such action, if deemed essential for national security, in a democracy that will always, and rightly, be reluctant.

For the next president, it may be Iran's nuclear program, or al-Qaeda sanctuaries in Pakistan, or, more likely, some potential horror that today no one even imagines. When that time comes, there will be plenty of warnings to heed from the Iraq experience, without the need to fictionalize more.

During the past two years, while my nomination to the Federal Election Commission was pending – and before I withdrew last week – friends would call whenever the latest newspaper story or blog post attacking me was planted by political operatives and left-wing advocacy organizations.

They always asked the same question: Why was I putting up with the character assassination that has become the norm in Senate confirmation battles whenever a conservative is nominated for public office?

In 17 years of practicing law I'd never been accused of ethical or professional lapses. Since my arrival in Washington, however, I've been called corrupt and unethical, and labeled as everything from a Klansman to a Nazi (my last name seems to generate that latter pejorative) for my work at the Department of Justice.

All of these charges were levied because I dared to take a different view of the law than the political left in the area of civil rights, voting and election law. Those outside Washington cannot conceive how far advocacy organizations, party activists and congressional staffers are willing to go to personally destroy anyone who doesn't agree with their political agenda.

The Bush administration filed more voting-rights lawsuits in its first five years than the Clinton administration filed in its last five years. And we did so without having over $4 million in attorneys' fees levied against us for filing frivolous discrimination claims, as occurred during that administration.

I do plead guilty to this: bringing to the attention of superiors at the Justice Department the legal manipulations of ideologues in the Civil Rights Division who passed themselves off as professional civil servants while carrying water for their friends and allies in left-wing organizations like the ACLU. Had I kept silent, I would likely be in a far different position than I am today. But I did not, and those I butted heads with have their revenge.

My own hard feelings will pass. But the political system has been damaged once more by the poisonous tactics of the left, and there is no reason to think that the whole sorry spectacle will not be repeated again and again and again. So long as such tactics are accepted and even encouraged by politicians and the media, it will become harder and harder to find ordinary citizens willing to submit to the character assassination that now passes for our confirmation process.

When it comes to civil rights and voter ID the left's first response is to demonize, and when that does not succeed they ratchet up the demonization. They are so emotional attached to these issues that they do not see room for reasoned argument. I expect the civil rights division will get worse if Obama is elected.

Proposed House resolution hits Hamas and Carter JTA

The U.S. House of Representatives is introducing a resolution condemning Hamas, pegged to President Jimmy Carter's meetings with a top representative of the terrorist organization.

The resolution, which makes special mention of Carter's planned meeting with Hamas official Khaled Mashaal in its first paragraph, calls on the group to "renounce terrorism, fully disarm, and recognize Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state." It also expresses support for Israel's efforts to defend itself against terrorism."

U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) sponsored the bill.

"We ought to be screaming from the rafters about the lack of judgment in the former president going to see a known terrorist," U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.), one of the bill's original co-sponsors, told JTA. "Khaled Mashaal is the worst of the worst."

Kirk is the greatest, just for knowing.

Cantor said he believed the bill would enjoy broad bipartisan support and that it reflected the views of a broad swath of the Congress and the majority of the American people.

Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) has announced that its leadership has refused former U.S. President Jimmy Carter’s request for a meeting. According to PIJ’s QudsNews website, Egyptian authorities contacted PIJ Secretary-General Dr. Ramadan Shallah on Carter’s behalf earlier this week, inviting Shallah to meet with Carter in Cairo. Shallah is listed on the FBI’s list of Most Wanted Terrorists, and the reward for information leading to his apprehension is $5 million. In turning down the request, Shallah declared that Carter is “carrying an American-Israeli agenda,” while PIJ spokesman Daoud Shahab blasted Carter’s criticism of Palestinian rocket attacks during the former president’s visit to Sderot. E-mails and phone calls to the Carter Center press office seeking confirmation of Carter’s outreach to PIJ have not been returned.

This news should finally shatter Carter’s credibility as a peacemaker. Of course, Carter’s decision to meet Hamas leader Khalid Meshal had already sullied his Nobel reputation, with his posse of former laureates canceling their plans to visit the Middle East with him in response. Earlier today, Carter’s credibility sank even further, when CNN reported that Mahmoud al-Zahar and Said Seyam-two of Hamas’ most radical leaders-would convene with Carter in Cairo.

Yet Carter’s attempt to meet with PIJ is his most disturbing gambit to date. After all, PIJ is generally considered even more extreme than Hamas. While PIJ shares many of Hamas’ militant features–including its coordination of terrorist activities, calls for Israel’s destruction, and theocratic aims–PIJ lacks Hamas’ social and political significance. It does not have the social welfare network on which Hamas has built its popularity, while PIJ’s refusal to participate in the 2006 parliamentary elections points to its minimal public authority among Palestinians. Carter is therefore unable to argue that PIJ is somehow central to any Israeli-Palestinian peace process, which is the very argument he has used to defend his meetings with Hamas officials.

Ultimately, one is left to wonder when Carter’s constant efforts to outdo his own moral stupidity will end.

Israel nixed planned visit to Gaza: Carter Sweetness and Light

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AFP) — Former US president Jimmy Carter said on Tuesday he wanted to visit the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip on his current Middle East tour but indicated that Israel refused to authorise the trip.

“I haven’t been able to get a permission to go to Gaza. I would like to. I asked for permission but I was turned down,” Carter told reporters in the West Bank city of Ramallah ahead of a meeting with Palestinian prime minister Salam Fayyad.

Israeli authorities, which control access to Gaza, did not immediately comment on the claim.

Carter’s nine-day sweep through the region has drawn fire from the United States and Israel, which have urged him not to go through with a planned face-to-face meeting with exiled Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal in Damascus…

Carter defended his decision to meet Meshaal, saying he hoped to help involve the movement in the current peace process.

“I’m going to try everything I can to get him to agree to a peaceful resolution of differences both with the Israelis and with Fatah,” he said, referring to Abbas’s Fatah movement.

“But I’m not a negotiator, I’m just trying to understand different options and communicate,” he said. “If he has anything constructive to say, he or the Syrian president, then I would bring it to other people.”

Carter: I’ve Been Meeting Hamas Leaders for Years

(IsraelNN.com) Former United States President Jimmy Carter said Sunday that he feels “quite at ease” meeting Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal.  “I’ve been meeting with Hamas leaders for years,” he said.  The US considers Hamas a terrorist organization, and has strongly opposed Carter’s plans to meet with Mashaal.
Carter said he would meet with Hamas leaders despite the group’s stated commitment to the violent destruction of the state of Israel because “you can’t always get prerequisites adopted by other people before you even talk to them.”  Carter said his goals were to “meet with the Hamas leaders to express their views, to ascertain what flexibility they have,” and to try to convince the group to agree to a ceasefire, to reunite with Fatah, and to stop its attacks on innocent civilians.

On April 11, Reuters reported that Sen. Barack Obama said, while campaigning in Indianapolis, that he "was not going to comment on former President Carter.  He's a private citizen.  It's not my place to discuss who he shouldn't meet with."

If it's not his place to discuss who Carter meets with, he is not fit to be President.
   

"By declining to criticize President Carter's planned visit with Khaled Meshal, Senator Obama demonstrated his inability to take decisive action and show true leadership and sound moral judgment.  This is in stark contrast to the moral clarity and principled stance of Senator John McCain," said RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks.

Today Senator McCain said: It is a grave and dangerous mistake for an American leader to meet with a terrorist organization like Hamas.  Engaged in a campaign that deliberately targets innocent Israeli civilians, Hamas is dedicated to the destruction of Israel. President Carter is wrong to meet with Hamas, a terrorist group that has also killed innocent Americans. The very idea that a former President of the United States and Commander-in-Chief would meet with a terrorist organization demands a clear stance from all presidential candidates.

"It is incumbent upon Senator Obama to call on President Carter to not meet with Hamas leader Khaled Meshal and Senator Obama must reject President Carter's presumptive Democratic superdelegate vote.  The hand that shakes Khaled Meshal's hand should not be allowed to rise in support of Senator Obama's candidacy for president," said Brooks.

On April 3, the Associated Press reported that Carter "wouldn't quite say it, but he left little doubt this week about who he'd like to see in the White House next year."  Additionally, the former president reportedly noted that Obama had won Carter's home state of Georgia, hometown of Plains and the support of Carter's wife, children and grandchildren.
