CAIR'S ADVICE TO PRESIDENT OBAMA: 10 TERMS NOT TO USE WITH MUSLIMS

This would be hysterical were it not so serious. I received un-indicted co-conspirator CAIR's daily alert and it contained this "advice" (warning?) for President Hussein's trip(s) to the Islamic world to apologize (for 9.11, I guess). The trip this week to Turkey will not be his only trip to an Islamic country. We are still waiting to hear in which Islamic capital President Hussein will make his first major foreign policy address (my money is on Damascus).

The level of dishonesty and downright imbecility in the following "advice" is well, insulting. I am sure I speak for millions when I say, if we never had to think about Islam and its war on the infidels, we would be eternally grateful.

The following was sent out by CAIR written by a dhimmi Christian. It's ....priceless.

As President Obama considers his first speech in a Muslim majority country (he visits Turkey April 6-7), and as the US national security establishment reviews its foreign policy and public diplomacy, I want to share the advice given to me from dear Muslim friends worldwide regarding words and concepts that are not useful in building relationships with them.

Building relationships - translation: submit to Islam.

Obviously, we are not going to throw out all of these terms, nor should we. But we do need to be very careful about how we use them, and in what context.

Very.

1. "The Clash of Civilizations." Invariably, this kind of discussion ends up with us as the good guy and them as the bad guy. There is no clash of civilizations, only a clash between those who are for civilization, and those who are against it. Civilization has many characteristics but two are foundational: 1) It has no place for those who encourage, invite, and/or commit the murder of innocent civilians; and 2) It is defined by institutions that protect and promote both the minority and the transparent rule of law.

If Islam vs. the West I don't know what one would ever use such a phrase for September 11, July 7, London, March 11, Spain, Mumbai, jihad in Thailand, jihad in Philippines, Khobar, Cole, Glasgow, lone jihad syndrome, Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Beslan, punk jihad in France, Denmark, Holland, biker jihad in Australia, meat jihad, food jihad, fecal jihad, Andalusia, 12,093* (as of today) deadly Islamic attacks since 911, litigation jihad, academic jihad, social jihad, economic jihad, sharia finance, sharia law, papal jihad, cartoon jihad, the war on the Jews, ............must I go on?

2. "Secular." The Muslim ear tends to hear "godless" with the pronunciation of this word. And a godless society is simply inconceivable to the vast majority of Muslims worldwide. Pluralism – which encourages those with (and those without) a God-based worldview to have a welcomed and equal place in the public square – is a much better word.

Of course. There is no such thing as secular Islam. Only pious Islam. Secular Islam is the only shot Islam has to live in peace and harmony with the rest of the world. Don't even think of mentioning it.

3. "Assimilation." This word suggests that the minority Muslim groups in North America and Europe need to look like the majority, Christian culture. Integration, on the other hand, suggests that all views, majority and minority, deserve equal respect as long as each is willing to be civil with one another amid the public square of a shared society.

Of course, assimilation is punishable by death. Of course. Assimilation would allow Muslims to live in peace and harmony with their neighbors. Islam is a constant state of war until worldwide domination is complete. Assimilation. Don't even think of mentioning it.

4. "Reformation." Muslims know quite well, and have an opinion about, the battle taking place within Islam and what it means to be an orthodox and devout Muslim. They don't need to be insulted by suggesting they follow the Christian example of Martin Luther. Instead, ask how Muslims understand ijtihad, or reinterpretation, within their faith traditions and cultural communities.

"No need to be insulted" speaking of reformation. And everyone knows that reformation and reinterpretation is a crime punishable by death in the Quran. Don't even think of mentioning it, dhimmi.

5. "Jihadi." The jihad is an internal struggle first, a process of improving one's spiritual self-discipline and getting closer to God. The lesser jihad is external, validating "just war" when necessary. By calling the groups we are fighting "jihadis," we confirm their own – and the worldwide Muslim public's – perception that they are religious. They are not. They are terrorists, hirabists, who consistently violate the most fundamental teachings of the Holy Koran and mainstream Islamic scholars and imams.

Ah, an "internal struggle first," then kill. Terrorists commit .................jihad.

6. "Moderate." This ubiquitous term is meant politically but can be received theologically. If someone called me a "moderate Christian," I would be deeply offended. I believe in an Absolute who also commands me to love my neighbor. Similarly, it is not an oxymoron to be a mainstream Muslim who believes in an Absolute. A robust and civil pluralism must make room for the devout of all faiths, and none.

Of course not, there is no such thing as a moderate. Only apostates and hypocrites!

7. "Interfaith." This term conjures up images of watered-down, lowest common denominator statements that avoid the tough issues and are consequently irrelevant. "Multifaith" suggests that we name our deep and irreconcilable theological differences in order to work across them for practical effect – according to the very best of our faith traditions, much of which are values we share.

There's no such thing as inter-faith. There is only one religion. Convert or die ............. if they are feeling benevolent, there is always dhimmitude.

8. "Freedom." Unfortunately, "freedom," as expressed in American foreign policy, does not always seek to engage how the local community and culture understands it. Absent such an understanding, freedom can imply an unbound licentiousness. The balance between the freedom to something (liberty) and the freedom from something (security) is best understood in a conversation with the local context and, in particular, with the Muslims who live there. "Freedom" is best framed in the context of how they understand such things as peace, justice, honor, mercy, and compassion. [and respect!, Do not forget respect!]

Unfortunately, freedom is a dirty word. The translation of freedom in Islam is "perfect slavery" (to Allah) - got that? Obama went to madrassah from the ages of six to eleven - he knows all this.

9. "Religious Freedom." Sadly, this term too often conveys the perception that American foreign policy is only worried about the freedom of Protestant evangelicals to proselytize and convert, disrupting the local culture and indigenous Christians. Although not true, I have found it better to define religious freedom as the promotion of respect and reconciliation with the other at the intersection of culture and the rule of law – sensitive to the former and consistent with the latter.

Sadly, there is not such thing as "religious freedom". There is only Islam. Protestant evangelicals do not go around chopping peoples' heads off if they do not convert. Evangelicals are not the problem. There's that word again, RESPECT (aka submission).

10. "Tolerance." Tolerance is not enough. Allowing for someone's existence, or behavior, doesn't build the necessary relationships of trust – across faiths and cultures – needed to tackle the complex and global challenges that our civilization faces. We need to be honest with and respect one another enough to name our differences and commonalities, according to the inherent dignity we each have as fellow creations of God called to walk together in peace and justice, mercy and compassion. 

"Tolerance is not enough". Total submission.

The above words and phrases will differ and change over the years, according to the cultural and ethnic context, and the (mis)perceptions that Muslims and non-Muslims have of one another. While that is to be expected, what counts most is the idea that we are earnestly trying to listen to and understand each other better; demonstrating respect as a result.

It was the most reviled policy of George W. Bush's presidency so the decision to rebrand the much derided 'war on terror' may seem particularly astute.

The wisdom of renaming it 'Overseas Contingency Operation' however, remains to be seen. 

Washington speechwriters and other key officials were notified of the change today by email, according to The Washington Post.

The leaked memo sent from the Defense Department's office of security notes: 'This administration prefers to avoid using the term "Long War" or"Global War on Terror".

'Please use 'Overseas Contingency Operation.'

Email recipients were asked to pass the information on to staff - and to amend uses of the phrase War On Terror, which was adopted after the September 11 attacks in 2001, in official documents.

However, there appeared to be some confusion about where the policy originated.

Kenneth Baer, spokesman from the Office of Management and Budget, said: 'There was no memo, no guidance.

'This is the opinion of a career civil servant.'

The Obama administration has been using the phrase Global Contingency Operation for around a month, in an apparent move to distance itself from the legacy of the Bush years.

The former President resisted pressure from his own advisers to rebrand the policy, despite claims the name did not reflect the realities of the fight against terrorism.

Options had included changing it to GSAVE, or Global Struggle Against Violent Extremism. 

However, any such move was quashed after President Bush said it was still a war for him.

SHARIAH'S BROTHERHOOD

On Friday, President Obama reiterated for the umpteenth time his determination to develop a "new relationship" with the Muslim world. On this occasion, the audience was the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and the Philippines. Unfortunately, it increasingly appears that, in so doing, he will be embracing the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood – an organization dedicated to promoting the theo-political-legal program authoritative Islam

calls Shariah and that has the self-described mission of "destroying Western civilization from within."

 

As part of Mr. Obama's "Respect Islam" campaign, he will travel to Turkey in early April. While there, he will not only pay tribute to an Islamist government that has systematically wrested every institution from the secular tradition of Ataturk and put the country squarely on the path to Islamification. He will also participate in something called the "Alliance of Civilizations."

Bat Ye'or said the following of the Alliance of Civilizations  in a speech given at the Counter Jihad conference in Brussels in 2007: The Alliance of Civilizations, created to oppose the clash of civilizations, that is jihad, hasalso added pressure. On 13 November 2006, the High-Level Group of the Alliance ofCivilizations presented its report which sums up the request of the OIC at its Mecca Summit in 2005, after the Cartoons affair. First, it adopts the Islamic view of history and politics byclaiming that everything was fine between the three monotheistic religions until the 19thcentury, when the evil of European colonialism and Zionism destroyed this harmony. Then itaffirms that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the main source of Christian-Muslimantagonism, not the jihadist war and ideology that deny for others the right to exist. It proclaims that this conflict “remains one of the gravest threats to international stability” and formulates recommendations that again echo the OIC requests. Such views mirror Hitler accusing the Jews of fomenting World War II, or the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, praisedin the Hamas charter, the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood which denies Israel’s right to exist.

The recent meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (and here) (OSCE Conference on intolerance and discrimination against Muslims, Cordoba, 9-10 October 2007) is much of the same, a charter of dhimmitude. It examines the means to condition Europeans to respect Muslim immigrants and accept their culture. Although racism against Muslims as well as against any other should be punished, nowhere do we see in any of these texts a genuine desire to understand the fears of Europeans aggressed in their own country by local jihadist cells, their anger at the Muslim scriptures and history loaded with anti-Jewish and anti-Christian stereotypes which they bring into Europe, the continual incitement to hate and war against the infidels, particularly against Israel and America, the inferiority of women and the legal oppression of non-Muslims. The accusations of Islamophobia totally overlook these facts as if they emerge from a vacuum. The Eurabian moral dishonesty that incriminates Israel’s self-defense in order to exist is now projected onto Europe, guilty when protecting itself against Islamic terrorism. Our self-defense is considered an aggression that victimizes Muslims. We are in fact in a logic of dhimmitude within Europe.

The Alliance is a UN-sponsored affair that reflects – as, increasingly do most things the United Nations is involved in – the views of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). The OIC is made up of 57 Muslim-majority nations. Thanks to support from Saudi Arabia and its proxies, the Muslim Brotherhood has become a driving force within the Conference and their agendas largely coincide.

 

For example, in 2005 a communiqué issued after a summit in Mecca declared: "The Conference underlined the need to collectively endeavor to reflect the noble Islamic values, counter Islamophobia, defamation of Islam and its values and desecration of Islamic holy sites, and to effectively coordinate with States as well as regional and international institutions and organizations to urge them to criminalize this phenomenon as a form of racism." 

The logic of dhimmitude.

Ominously, as part of its bid to "criminalize" Islamophobia, the OIC is seeking "deterrent punishments." It insists that not only freedom of expression but all human rights be circumscribed by the OIC's 1990 Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam, which concludes with the caveat that, "All the rights and freedoms stipulated in this Declaration are subject to the Islamic Shariah." Translation: Liberties enshrined in the UN's foundational Universal Declaration of Human Rights are largely rendered null and void.

 

The demand that no criticism of Islam be permitted is the preeminent feature of the Muslim Brotherhood's efforts in the West. In fact, it is but the leading edge of the Brothers' bid to suppress public awareness of the threat posed by their program in societies that pride themselves on religious tolerance, thereby facilitating seditious penetration and influence operations by the Shariah-adherent.

 

A playbook for the latter can be found in a publication issued last fall by the U.S.-Muslim Engagement Project that is being aggressively promoted to the Obama administration and Congress by a number of its non-Muslim participants. Notably, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright recently effusively presented the Project's book entitled Changing Course: A New Direction for U.S. Relations with the Muslim World to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Former Congressman Vin Weber did the same at Grover Norquist's weekly meeting of conservative activists last week.

 

Underwritten largely by George Soros' and other left-wing foundations, Changing Course seems to reflect predominantly the recommendations of groups the government has established are Muslim Brotherhood fronts, such as the Islamic Society of North America and the Muslim Public Affairs Council. Both are represented in the Engagement Project's "Leadership Group." Accordingly, its book calls for:

 

• "engagement with groups that have clearly demonstrated a commitment to nonviolent participation in politics" (read: the Brotherhood);
• "not equat[ing] reform with secularism, nor...assum[ing] that reformers who advocate some form of Shariah as the basis for the rule of law will inevitably abuse human rights or adopt anti-American policies";
• "not supply[ing] additional ammunition to extremists by linking the term ‘Islam' or key tenets of the religion of Islam with the actions of extremist or terrorist groups";
• Launching "an education program comparable in scale" to "the more than $7 billion" invested in the "post-Sputnik U.S. commitment to math and science education" to "education on Islam and Muslims, sustained over a decade or more, focused on teacher training and curriculum in middle and high schools, and colleges."

Emboldened by the promise of this influence operation and the apparent willingness of the Obama administration to embrace the Muslim Brotherhood's agenda – in part, if not in its entirety – the organization's assorted fronts in America are becoming ever more audacious. In response to a long-overdue decision taken by the FBI last year to terminate "sensitivity training" of its agents by one of the most prominent of these fronts, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), assorted Brotherhood groups and operatives reportedly intend to announce that Muslims will henceforth cease any and all cooperation with U.S. law enforcement until CAIR is rehabilitated.

 

Such a step would not only call into question the patriotism of the many Muslims in America who do not embrace the Brotherhood's Shariah agenda – something that would, presumably, be as offensive to them as it would be troubling to the rest of us. It could also expose those engaged in it to criminal charges of "misprision of felony," conspiring to withhold information from the authorities concerning terrorist operations and activities in the Muslim community.

Thereby killing any hope, any hope at all of real reform of Islam.

The message should go forth: Friends of the Muslim Brotherhood are no friends of America. We follow their guidance at our peril.

Napolitano: Of course it does. I presume there is always a threat from terrorism. In my speech, although I did not use the word "terrorism," I referred to "man-caused" disasters. My name is Eva Renstrom and I´m working as a journalist at the Swedish Television; the public service company in Sweden, with a program called Existens; Existence. It´s a secular program about religion and society, and our assignment is to describe what happens when these two meets and collides.

Now we are planning to do a program about the escalated Israeli/Palestinian conflict, and what happens with the manifestation of the religions; Islam and Judaism, in the current situation.

Our focus will be Islam, but we intend to discuss growing radicalism and intolerance among the Jewish population as well. Here in Sweden, we see moderate movements in this direction. But since everything in Sweden is more or less moderate in comparison, we suspect that the effect is enhanced in the rest of Europe as well as in the Middle East. We want to know more about the risk of increased radicalism and extremism, about where this situation can take us. We want to know more about if and how the religious manifestation will change.

Now I´m looking for someone to talk to; who can analyze the situation, especially when it comes to the situation among Jews. I´ve read about you on the web site, and I thought that you maybe can help me! I´m grateful for your help!

Pro-Israel vs. Pro-Palestine Protests in Chicago

A very large Pro-Palestine protest was mounted in Chicago today, with participants being bused in from other cities and states (we heard one organizer gathering people who “were on the bus from Milwaukee”). Jake covered a similar but much smaller protest earlier in the week.

Today was definitely the main event — the Hamas supporters gathered in front of Chicago’s famous Tribune Building, then marched across the Chicago River and around the corner to the Israeli Consulate. A good-sized crowd was already in place across the street to offer their support for Israel.

We wandered around in both crowds taking pics and video for a while. We had our press ID badges on, but were still told we had to “choose a side” when the loonies got ready to begin their march to the Israeli consulate. The police hustled us off behind their barricades post haste…just in case you were wondering if bloggers are still largely considered to be “second class journalists” — the answer is YES!

Jake will have video up after a while. Until then, I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves, for the most part, and keep my witty commentary to a minimum.

Parents complain to U.S. Agencies About Mattel “Islam is the Light” Doll 12/02/08

December 16, 2008 - Washington, DC:  Wal-Mart managers are removing the Mattel doll that says "Islam is the Light" from store shelves, according to reports from parents and the media across the U.S. and Canada, as well as Wal-Mart employees.   Many Wal-Mart managers have removed the controversial doll in the last two weeks, and others are removing it as soon as parents ask.

The Moms Ask Mattel for Accountability (MAMA) campaign to remove the doll began in late November on "Black" Friday, the year's biggest shopping day.  The national MAMA campaign started as a response to parent concerns about the Mattel/Fisher Price "Little Mommy Real Loving Baby Cuddle and Coo Doll."  The majority of "Little Mommy Cuddle and Coo" dolls on store shelves have an audio soundtrack that says "Islam is the Light,"  with no label or warning to parents on the doll's packaging that it advocates Islam to their young children, a practice known as "Dawa." MAMA has advised parents in the U.S. and Canada to ask retailers either to remove the doll from the shelves or to attach a label stating "NOTICE: This doll says "Islam is the light," an invitation to your child to join Islam."  MAMA is concerned that an invitation to Islam is a material risk to young girls, because of the discriminatory Islamic law known as Shariah, and wants parents informed about the doll's statement before they purchase the doll.

"Parents are reporting that most Wal-Marts have already removed the doll, or immediately remove it when asked," said Denise Lee, founder of Moms Ask Mattel for Accountability.  "And TV and newspaper stories are reporting the same policy changes.   MAMA applauds Wal-Mart for taking the lead here in responding to parents' concerns, especially over the Christmas season."

Wal-Mart staff at the Wal-Mart customer "Urgent Assistance" complaint phones were helpful and frank about customer complaints about the "Islam is the Light" doll.  Lee spoke with Wal-Mart "Urgent Assistance" employee Ben Werkheiser, who said  "We have received quite a few complaints from customers." Werkheiser stated that removal of the dolls is "more or less left up to individual stores' decisions," and when asked if the dolls had been removed from most Wal-Mart stores answered  "Yes, they've pulled them because people complained about it. We are mainly responding to customers' complaints. The dolls in most of our Wal-Marts have been pulled."   Fellow Wal-Mart employee Maria McDonald stated "We have had many complaints with the doll...the calls we are getting are from customers. I personally have received a lot of calls from customers."

Wal-Mart employee Werkheiser offered advice to customers: "Contact store managers and let them know what's going on. Have them listen to the doll.  Customers can call the home office, 1-800-WALMART."  Although the Wal-Mart corporate office declined our request to provide an official policy statement,  MAMA spokesperson Lee said: "The facts speak for themselves - Wal-Mart is saying YES! to parent requests for removal of the "Islam is the light" doll from the shelves."

A TALE OF TWO TOY STORES....

On the other hand, MAMA's requests to Target to remove the doll - or attach a label stating that it says "Islam is the Light" - met with a NO!

Amy Reilly of Target's Media Relations office called Lee and directed parents "To talk to Mattel if you have any issues with the doll." Reilly carefully stated, "We have not had a national recall on those dolls."  When told of parents concerns about the doll Reilly stated, "The doll is a well selling doll." She said, for anything else "I would continue to try reaching Mattel."

"The difference is clear between two responses to parents' concerns," said Lee.  "Wal-Mart is trying to help parents, and leaves the decision up to their managers.  It appears from all the Target cases that parents have sent us (see "Cases" at www.labelthatdoll.com ), that Target refuses to take action in response to consumer complaints, and local Target store managers aren't permitted to respond to their local community. "

"The question is what will Target, Wal-Mart and other retailers do on December 26, when all those parents who bought that 'well selling' doll  try to return it because it says 'Islam is the light' ?" Lee said.

Lee noted that individual Kmarts have also been reported in the media as removing the dolls, but no nationwide policy has been released.

Recently a BBC announcer was sacked/fired for requesting a "non Asian taxi driver" to transport her young unaccompanied 14 year old daughter. (Out of concern for her daughter's fears/mental well being & safety)

Of course, the "racist" club was trotted out by the mainstream media and others to verbally bludgeon Sam Mason for having the audacity to demand an "English driver". But was Sam Mason really exposing her racism or was she reacting, as any mother would, to the facts that there is a ongoing epidemic of muslim taxi driver rapes in the UK? (Note: the media prefers the more vague term "Asian")

Not surprising - the mainstream media, is aiding and abetting these rapes, by refusing to "connect the dots" and report on the clear evidence: The growing numbers of predatory muslim taxi drivers (some posing as taxi drivers)raping British girls and women.

Shahjahan Islam, 27, linked by DNA to attempted rape of lone young woman, Nov 2008

Rami Kayyali, 26, found guilty of raping young woman, Nov 2008

Asian - bogus taxi driver, in his mid-20s, wanted for attempted rape of 18 yr. old girl, Mar 2008

Asian male, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, wanted for brutal rape of 24 yr old woman, Aug 2008

"It's dismal," said Rosemary Rodriguez, who works for the U.S. Elections Assistance Commission, a non-partisan group. "These are the voters that are in some cases preserving our liberties and out there with their lives on the line."

Rodriguez estimates that in the last general election, only about 30 percent of overseas military ballots were actually returned and counted.

"It's disenfranchising our military and frankly I think it's very unpatriotic," said retired Navy Lt. Melissa Cox Boss.

Bush aides and Republican surrogates blasted their Democratic rivals for having overseas absentee ballots disqualified in Florida counties, many for lack of postmarks. Many of those ballots were presumed to have been from service members supporting Bush.

Of course if this meant that the right would get equal time in and on the mainstream media, then the choke hold the media has in the big message and the national dialogue would forever change. And perhaps America would stay true to her fundamental values. NC, ABC, CBS, New York Times having to give eual time to every leftist position and slant would be the greatest thing that could happen to America. This sadly is not the case. The fairness doctrine would usher in a dark age. The American people have no clue what is going down.

The name itself is Randian "fairness doctrine". It is so Ellsworth Toohey. These folks are frightening, really scary.

 

Pelosi on 'Hush Rush,' and Filibustering FISA

The speaker of the House made it clear to me and more than forty of my colleagues yesterday that a bill by Rep. Mike Pence (R.-Ind.) to outlaw the “Fairness Doctrine” (which a liberal administration could use to silence Rush Limbaugh, other radio talk show hosts and much of the new alternative media) would not see the light of day in Congress during ’08.  In ruling out a vote on Pence’s proposed Broadcaster's Freedom Act, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-CA.) also signaled her strong support for revival of the “Fairness Doctrine” -- which would require radio station owners to provide equal time to radio commentary when it is requested.

Experts say that the “Fairness Doctrine,” which was ended under the Reagan Administration, would put a major burden on small radio stations in providing equal time to Rush Limbaugh and other conservative broadcasters, who are a potent political force.  Rather than engage in the costly practice of providing that time, the experts conclude, many stations would simply not carry Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and other talk show hosts who are likely to generate demands for equal time.

At a breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor yesterday, I asked Pelosi if Pence failed to get the required signatures on a discharge petition to get his anti-Fairness Doctrine bill out of committee, would she permit the Pence measure to get a floor vote this year.

“No,” the Speaker replied, without hesitation.  She added that “the interest in my caucus is the reverse” and that New York Democratic Rep. “Louise Slaughter has been active behind this [revival of the Fairness Doctrine] for a while now.”

Pelosi pointed out that, after it returns from its Fourth of July recess, the House will only meet for another three weeks in July and three weeks in the fall.  There are a lot of bills it has to deal with before adjournment, she said, such as FISA and an energy bill.

“So I don’t see it [the Pence bill] coming to the floor,” Pelosi said.

Police storm Warsaw hotel room, free three captive Jewish teens hat tip Michael

Police stormed a hotel room in Warsaw Monday, after a Kuwaiti [Muslim]  man identified as Mohammad A. and claiming he had a bomb, briefly held captive three Jewish teenagers, who were staying there for Holocaust commemoration ceremonies, police said. The three Brazilians - originally identified as Israelis - were pulled into a sixth-floor room of Warsaw's Holiday Inn after 9 A.M. by the 23-year-old suspect, said police spokesman Mariusz Sokolowski.

Police broke into the room just before 10 A.M. and took the suspect into custody without incident, Sokolowski said. None of the captives was harmed, and police found no explosives.

It was not immediately clear what the suspect sought, but David Peleg, Israel's ambassador to Poland, said he had been informed the man was intoxicated.

"As far as we know at this stage ... a man was behaving wildly on the ground floor of the Holiday Inn hotel in central Warsaw, he was apparently drunk," Peleg told Israel Radio.

He took refuge in one of the rooms where there were three Brazilian Jewish youths, who were taking part in The March of The Living commemoration at the former Auschwitz death camp.

In Warsaw, Israeli Embassy spokesman Michal Sobelman confirmed the Jewish youths were from Brazil. He could give no further details.

A bartender at the Holiday Inn said the suspect had a beer in the bar in the morning but had no money to pay for the drink, and someone else covered the 15 zlotys (US$7) cost. The man said he was from Kuwait, the bartender told The Associated Press.

Sokolowski confirmed that the suspect was not from Poland, but did not have any other details.

Warsaw police spokesman Marcin Szyndler said the Jewish teenagers did not need medical care and were taken to a police station for questioning about the incident.

"It all did not take long, probably only minutes," Szyndler told The Associated Press. "Luckily, it ended only with threats."

The hotel was evacuated for a routine search. The area around the hotel was sealed off and police vans, ambulances and firefighters' trucks were at the scene.

Around 10,000 people from around the world, mostly Jewish, took part in the March of the Living on Thursday, an annual event at the former Nazi death camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau that honors the memory of some 6 million Jews who perished in the Holocaust.

At least 1.1 million people, including Jews, Poles and Roma, perished in the camp's gas chambers or from starvation, disease and forced labor. The camp was liberated in January 1945 by Soviet troops.

Hasbro Explains Capitulation to Islam: Jerusalem, Israel

Ann over at Boker Tov Boulder happily wrote me that Hasbro was running a  favorite city contest for its Monopoly game. We of course joyfully voted for Jerusalem, Israel (New York a close second for me of course).

She then woefully reported that Hasbro changed the option from "Jerusalem, Israel" to just  Jerusalem. Huh?

So Now President Bush Won't Call It "Islamic" Terrorism or Extremism?

I noticed something unusual [...] during President Bush's State of the Union speech - he never used the words "Islamic" or "Islamist" to describe the most dangerous forms of terrorism and extremism which the U.S. and the West face in the Middle East and around the world. Contrast that to his 2007 SOTU speech (emphases mine):

"Al Qaeda and its followers are Sunni extremists, possessed by hatred and commanded by a harsh and narrow ideology. Take almost any principle of civilization, and their goal is the opposite. They preach with threats ... instruct with bullets and bombs ... and promise paradise for the murder of the innocent... These men are not given to idle words, and they are just one camp in the Islamist radical movement. In recent times, it has also become clear that we face an escalating danger from Shia extremists who are just as hostile to America, and are also determined to dominate the Middle East. Many are known to take direction from the regime in Iran, which is funding and arming terrorists like Hezbollah - a group second only to al Qaeda in the American lives it has taken... The Shia and Sunni extremists are different faces of the same totalitarian threat. But whatever slogans they chant, when they slaughter the innocent, they have the same wicked purposes. They want to kill Americans ... kill democracy in the Middle East ... and gain the weapons to kill on an even more horrific scale."

And take a look at a segment in his 2006 SOTU:

"No one can deny the success of freedom, but some men rage and fight against it. And one of the main sources of reaction and opposition is radical Islam -- the perversion by a few of a noble faith into an ideology of terror and death. Terrorists like bin Laden are serious about mass murder -- and all of us must take their declared intentions seriously... By allowing radical Islam to work its will -- by leaving an assaulted world to fend for itself -- we would signal to all that we no longer believe in our own ideals, or even in our own courage."

Why did President Bush retreat from the obvious? Who imposed upon him, employing what logic, to depart from his past clear and accurate statements on the nature of Islamic-based terrorism and extremism?

On Sunday, Walid Phares suggested (or hoped) that the President would "Define the enemy, clearly and strategically. For the changes in definitions over the past seven years have left the public in quest for a definitive knowledge about who are we fighting and why." I guess Walid - and the rest of us - will have to wait for the next State of the Union message.

TEACHERS ORDERED TO DRESS MUSLIM

Kids at the 257-pupil primary have also been told to don ethnic garb even though most are Christians.

The morning assembly will be open to all parents – but dads are BARRED from a women-only party in the afternoon because Muslim husbands object to wives mixing with other men.

Just two members of staff – a part-time teacher and a teaching assistant – are Muslim.

   One of the epic successes of the Communist and fellow-travelling Left in this country was its suppression of the Cold War in the popular culture. I refer to to near-total blackout on movies and TV that chronicle the primary struggle of the last century between Freedom and totalitarian Communism.
     In its stead, the Left engraved onto our collective consciousness its demonology of American capitalism, the CIA and suburbia. When that wasn't enough, there was always the Sieg-heiling, boot-clicking Nazi. And not just in World War II dramas, where he belongs. Whenever a hero in a plot needs a villain, there always seems to be a Nazi lurking. Where German Nazis don't work, there are South American Nazis. Where South American Nazis won't do, there are South African Nazis. Where South African Nazis stretch our credulity there are Religious Right Nazis. From Tom Clancy to Indiana Jones, Nazis are forever.
    And now, even as our liberties are no longer threatened by Communism and we face a new threat from Islam, we still seem to have Nazis on the brain.  Our liberties are contracting every day in the face of expansionist Islam, but it is still the specter of Nazism that distracts us--some of us, anyway.
    I refer to the very upsetting and undeserved Internet attacks--mainly being lent credence by the blog Little Green Footballs--on Vlaams Belang, the Flemish secessionist party in Belgium. The attacks allege that Vlaams Belang has ties and allegiance to Nazi-type ideologies and organizations. I find these attacks both sloppy and unconvincing. Vlaams Belang is not only the most stalwart, resolutely anti-jihad party in Europe that I know of, but also--and, not at all incidentally--the most pro-Israel party in Europe that I know of. In other words, it is ridiculous to suggest that they are Nazis--neo-, South American, Religious Right, or Other.
    Indeed, it is crucial to understand that Vlaams Belang's political opponents in Europe are the Islamo-Socialist Left, which is where vicious anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism now finds its ideological home. Vlaams Belang is fighting, virtually alone, the Islamization of Europe. For that they deserve both our gratitude and our support.

And article 79: "Arabs as a Semitic people have also suffered from alternative forms of anti semitism, manifesting itself as anti-Arab discrimination and for those Arabs who are Muslim, also as Islamophobia."
