The ummah (worldwide Muslim community) "responds" to the Muslim revolt in China. Has anyone asked the Muslim Uighurs who were released from GITMO for a statement?
HE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) - The Dutch government said Tuesday it will pay for repairs to China's embassy in The Hague, which was damaged in a protest against Beijing's crackdown on separatists in Xinjiang province. Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen apologized to China's top diplomat in
the Netherlands for the violence by the protesters, mostly members of
the Muslim Uighur ethnic group living in the Netherlands.
"Demonstrating is a basic right, but violence is always unacceptable," Verhagen said.
Verhagen also used his meeting with the diplomat to express his concern at the violence in Xinjiang.
"Unfortunately, information out of the region is very restricted and
transparency is very important in this situation," Verhagen said. He
urged the Chinese to restore communications with the area and allow foreign journalists to work there. Police arrested 142 demonstrators Monday when they stoned the embassy
and tried to clamber up the railings that surround the building. Most
were released late Monday but police kept 39 in cells overnight.
Police cordoned off the area in front of the embassy Tuesday. Many of the building's front windows were smashed.
Also Tuesday, Uighur [Muslims] and Turkish [Muslims] protesters clashed with police outside
the Chinese Embassy in Turkey and threw eggs at the building. In Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said the Dutch
protesters were members of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, a group
Beijing accuses of having links to al-Qaida. He said the Chinese
consulate in Munich, Germany, also was attacked with a Molotov cocktail
and slightly damaged.
The Dutch protest came after reports that street battles have killed
dozens and injured hundreds in the deadliest ethnic unrest to hit China's western Xinjiang region in decades.
Gheyretjan Rozi of the Dutch Uighur Support Group said Monday's
demonstration was peaceful until protesters saw somebody taking photos
of them from inside the embassy. Rozi said 450-600 Uighurs live in the
Netherlands.
"Hundreds of rioters have been arrested, the official Xinhua news agency
reported, after rock-throwing Uighur people took to the streets of the regional
capital on Sunday, some burning and smashing vehicles and confronting ranks of
anti-riot police."
hmmm -rock throwing, car burning, ... just like

China (July 6) - Riots and street battles killed at least 140 people in China's western Xinjiang province and injured 828 others in the deadliest ethnic unrest to hit the region in decades. Officials said Monday the death toll was expected to rise.
Police sealed off streets in parts of the provincial capital, Urumqi, after discord between ethnic Muslim Uighur people and China's Han majority erupted into violence. Witnesses reported a new, smaller protest Monday in a second city, Kashgar.
[Musim[ Rioters on Sunday overturned
barricades, attacked vehicles and houses, and clashed violently with police in
Urumqi, according to media and witness accounts. State television aired footage
showing protesters attacking and kicking people on the ground. Other people, who
appeared to be Han Chinese, sat dazed with blood pouring down their faces.
There was little immediate
explanation for how so many people died. The government accused a Uighur
[Muslim] businesswoman living in the U.S. of inciting the riots through phone calls and
"propaganda" spread on Web sites.
Exile groups said the violence
started only after police began cracking down on a peaceful protest demanding
justice for two Uighurs killed last month during a fight with Han co-workers at
a factory in southern China.
Thousands of people took part
in Sunday's disturbance, unlike recent sporadic separatist violence carried out
by small groups in Xinjiang. The clashes echoed the violent protest that rocked
Tibet last year and left many Tibetan communities living under clamped-down
security ever since.
This is NOTHING like the Tibet unrest. The Dalai Lama said that his homeland was in serious peril and called for an investigation into what he called "cultural genocide." Tibet wants to be free; Muslims want to take over.
Tensions between Uighurs [Muslims] and
the majority Han Chinese are never far from the surface in Xinjiang, a sprawling
region rich in minerals and oil that borders eight Central Asian nations.
Many
Uighurs (pronounced WEE-gers) yearn for independence and some militants have
waged a sporadic, violent separatist campaign.
Uighurs [Muslims] make up the largest
ethnic group in Xinjiang, but not in the capital of Urumqi, which has attracted
large numbers of Han Chinese migrants. The city of 2.3 million is now
overwhelmingly Chinese — a source of frustration for native Uighurs who say they
are being squeezed out.

From Russina reporting:
The situation is -for now - under control (hat tip Choi)
Death toll -as a result of "rioting" (Muslim war inside China) is now 156 with 828 wounded.
Chinese police have arrested 10 (or more) persons whom the authorities consider to be the instigators of the violence and who have connections with (US-based) World Uyghur Congress (WUC) and its leader Rebia KADIR (a woman and that's a muslim name).
Furthermore - China has deemed the "Eastern Turkestan" organization as an extremist group as a terrorist organization, operating within its Uyghur-Autonomous region of Tsin-Tszyan and active in a movement to set up a pan-islamic government, consisting of a number of regional muslim groups (i.e. the central asian area of global dar al islam). The communist Chinese have also linked the "Eastern Turkestan" extremist muslim-supremacist-terror organization with al Qaeda.
Article from RIA Novosti in English on the Uyghur problems and what it means for Russia and the USA
The Russian (who aren't totally PC'd yet) give some truthful analysis on the situation (i.e. Muslims with very large and powerful global backing are responsible)
"There are many possible links apart from the U.S.-based World Uyghur Congress (WUC)."
"Riots broke out in Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur province in northwest China, on July 5. They were organized by Uyghurs and were foreseen to claim lives."
"Second, I cannot imagine anyone setting fire to a shop with a lighter. You need at least a canister of gasoline to do that".
"Like many other similar organizations operating in the United States or any other country, Uyghurs are financed by American NGOs. This is an element of the U.S. policy that has failed, even though the new administration has not yet officially disavowed it".
Besides, leaving such organizations to their own devices could be dangerous, as proved by the example of Al Qaeda."

WASHINGTON -- Cyberspies have penetrated the U.S. electrical grid and left
behind software programs that could be used to disrupt the system, according to
current and former national-security officials.
The spies came from China, Russia and other countries, these officials said,
and were believed to be on a mission to navigate the U.S. electrical system and
its controls. The intruders haven't sought to damage the power grid or other key
infrastructure, but officials warned they could try during a crisis or war.
"The Chinese have attempted to map our infrastructure, such as the electrical
grid," said a senior intelligence official. "So have the Russians."
The espionage appeared pervasive across the U.S. and doesn't target a
particular company or region, said a former Department of Homeland Security
official. "There are intrusions, and they are growing," the former official
said, referring to electrical systems. "There were a lot last year."
Many of the intrusions were detected not by the companies in charge of the
infrastructure but by U.S. intelligence agencies, officials said. Intelligence
officials worry about cyber attackers taking control of electrical facilities, a
nuclear power plant or financial networks via the Internet.
Authorities investigating the intrusions have found software tools left
behind that could be used to destroy infrastructure components, the senior
intelligence official said. He added, "If we go to war with them, they will try
to turn them on."
Officials said water, sewage and other infrastructure systems also were at
risk.
"Over the past several years, we have seen cyberattacks against critical
infrastructures abroad, and many of our own infrastructures are as vulnerable as
their foreign counterparts, " Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair
recently told lawmakers. "A number of nations, including Russia and China, can
disrupt elements of the U.S. information infrastructure."
Officials cautioned that the motivation of the cyberspies wasn't well
understood, and they don't see an immediate danger. China, for example, has
little incentive to disrupt the U.S. economy because it relies on American
consumers and holds U.S. government debt.
But protecting the electrical grid and other infrastructure is a key part of
the Obama administration's cybersecurity review, which is to be completed next
week. Under the Bush administration, Congress approved $17 billion in secret
funds to protect government networks, according to people familiar with the
budget. The Obama administration is weighing whether to expand the program to
address vulnerabilities in private computer networks, which would cost billions
of dollars more. A senior Pentagon official said Tuesday the Pentagon has spent
$100 million in the past six months repairing cyber damage.
Overseas examples show the potential havoc. In 2000, a disgruntled employee
rigged a computerized control system at a water-treatment plant in Australia,
releasing more than 200,000 gallons of sewage into parks, rivers and the grounds
of a Hyatt hotel.
Last year, a senior Central Intelligence Agency official, Tom Donohue, told a
meeting of utility company representatives in New Orleans that a cyberattack had
taken out power equipment in multiple regions outside the U.S. The outage was
followed with extortion demands, he said.
The U.S. electrical grid comprises three separate electric networks, covering
the East, the West and Texas. Each includes many thousands of miles of
transmission lines, power plants and substations. The flow of power is controlled by local utilities or
regional transmission organizations. The growing reliance of utilities on
Internet-based communication has increased the vulnerability of control systems
to spies and hackers, according to government reports.
The sophistication of the U.S. intrusions -- which extend beyond electric to
other key infrastructure systems -- suggests that China and Russia are mainly
responsible, according to intelligence officials and cybersecurity specialists.
While terrorist groups could develop the ability to penetrate U.S.
infrastructure, they don't appear to have yet mounted attacks, these officials
say.
There's something happening here. What it is ...... is very very clear. John Jay spoke of it in his essay here - nature hates a vacuum. And Obama is creating that vacuum - "where the sun recedes. the United States navy will disappear from the Indian ocean and the china sea. The first result of this will emerge in conflict between China and Taiwan, with Taiwan exposed to missile fire from the Chinese mainland. soon, the red Chinese will surmount the obstacle of a 40 miles stretch of ocean, and will invade and occupy Taiwan. Who or what is to stop China from doing this. In the absence of an American navy in the Indian ocean and the South China seas, a power vacuum exists, into which will step a militarily resurgent Japan, and expansion minded China and India. China and India are planning the laying of many “bottoms,” which to you lubbers, means that they are going to build blue water navies. with the presence of the American navy upon the high seas, with over 200 years of warfare and strategic experience, these countries might have been expected to be prudent in their expansion: a country and military force does not step into that sort of context with impunity or without caution, especially given the aggressive posture for battle always exhibited in the U.S. navy, from John Paul Jones to Bull Halsey to Chester Nimitz. where once there would have been every caution exercised, there will only be “irrational exuberance” as the Chinese and the Indians rush in to fill the vacuum."
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Pentagon charged Monday that five Chinese
ships shadowed and maneuvered dangerously close to a U.S. Navy vessel
in an apparent attempt to harass the American crew.
Defense
officials in the Obama administration said the incident Sunday followed
several days of "increasingly aggressive" acts by Chinese ships in the
region. The incident took place in international waters in the South
China Sea, about 75 miles south of Hainan Island.
U.S. officials said a protest was to be delivered to Beijing's military attache at a Pentagon meeting Monday.
The
USNS Impeccable sprayed one ship with water from fire hoses to force it
away. Despite the force of the water, Chinese crew members stripped to
their underwear and continued closing within 25 feet, the Defense
Department said.
"On March 8, 2009, five Chinese vessels shadowed
and aggressively maneuvered in dangerously close proximity to USNS
Impeccable, in an apparent coordinated effort to harass the U.S. ocean
surveillance ship while it was conducting routine operations in
international waters," the Pentagon statement said.

It seems to me that what we're all
worried about is what does Barack Obama think about the world at
large—when he says that Iran is a small threat, and then he
corrects himself and says it's a large threat—when Georgia
is invaded by Russia and he tells us first that each side is of equal
blame and then he suggests Georgia prompted the entire crisis and
then suggests the UN should adjudicate it and then he suggests that
when an authoritarian country like Russia tries to destroy a
democracy its because of the precedent of an American democracy
trying to destroy an authoritarian regime in Iraq.
It's hard to make sense of all this.
All I can make sense of is, he has a very different view of the
world. This view is anti-platonic. And I say that, not to be
condescending, but Plato said that the natural order of the world was
chaos, it was war—peace was a parenthesis, it had to be
achieved and worked at. I think in the Obama view that men like him
that are charismatic, articulate, they can change the world because
it's naturally a peaceful thing until people like George Bush rush in
and through their stubbornness—"smoke 'em out dead or
alive" vernacular—destroys it, but the fact of the
matter is the only reason there is any semblance of peace and
tranquility in the world today is because in places as diverse as the
Aegean, planes over-flying in Greek airspace daily, where there's
near fighting on Cypress, or whether we are talking about the Korean
Sea and the Philippines and Taiwan and South Korean democracies not
going nuclear because the United States is there, or whether Russian
ships keep out of Norway every hour—all of that is
predicated on the presence of the United States.
To be frank, or to put it a different
way, Vladimir Putin doesn't give a damn that Barack Obama is African
American. And the Chinese autocrats do not hear very well "hope"
and "change"—it doesn't translate to Chinese very
well—and the Europeans don't care if he has a nifty jump
shot. All they want to know is half the world are vying to try to
take advantage of regional opportunities if the United States is not
there to stop mold, and to stop rust, which is the natural organic
order of the world. They take advantage of it and our friends are
there waiting to see which side to join. All of our friends in Europe
know that, and Australia and South America. They don't have deities.
Nations don't have deities like Barack Obama, they have interests.
And their interests are predicated on who is going to win and who is
going to lose. Into that void comes Barack Obama.
Where in G-d's name is the global outrage? Where is the the damn UN?

On Tibet Protests In Sichuan, Says Self Defence Bernama - Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia China police are hunting
for 21 suspects from the Lhasa riots and posted Friday the photographs of
more than a dozen men on local popular websites. ...
BEIJING: China's official news agency says the death toll
from anti-Chinese riots in Lhasa has risen to 19, and that 623 people were
injured in the unrest.
Xinhua says 18 civilians and one police officer were confirmed dead by Friday
night from the unrest in the Tibetan capital earlier this month.
The agency says 241 police officers and 382 civilians were injured.

And of course as wolf points out, as Jews we should.
By By Simon Rocker and Simon Griver, Tel Aviv
Jewish campaigners in both the UK and Israel have been showing support for the Tibetan struggle for independence from China.
Some 100 people are reported to have been killed in renewed unrest.
The Tibetan Jewish Youth Exchange has been fundraising to help buy computers for Longsho, the Tibetan youth movement. Marc Bergen, a trustee of the exchange, said: “The fact that we have had Israel since 1948 is a great inspiration to the Tibetan people —as the Dalai Lama himself has pointed out — who are also dreaming and hoping to one day get their own homeland back and are seeking to retain their identity, language and culture in the meantime.”
Demonstrations against the escalating violence have also taken place in Israel.
A planned event outside the Tel Aviv Cinematheque last Saturday turned into an
impromptu protest against the increasing death toll in Lhasa. Hundreds of
demonstrators again turned out on Wednesday outside the Chinese embassy in Tel
Aviv.
Ran Natanzon, spokesman for the 1,000-strong Israeli Friends of
the Tibetan People, told the JC that the Israeli government must make its voice
heard. “The Israeli government must at least express its condemnation of what is
happening,” he said. “At the very least, the Chinese ambassador should be called
up to the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem and reprimanded.” Among the
protesters were 50 Tibetan students studying agriculture in Israel. But the
seven Tibetan exiles in the country who are married to Israelis stayed away for
fear of reprisals on their relatives in Tibet, with the exception of Lobsang
Yeshi, who lives in Tel Aviv and has called on Israel to boycott this summer’s
Olympics in China.
While the world's deadly obsession with the Jews continues unabated, the Chinese government is killing Tibetans yearning for freedom. If China sits on the UNSC, can we expect a UNSC resolution? I hope this revolt is infectious and the oppressed of China take to the streets. Economic freedom means nothing without political freedom. Yesterday ...
"....hundreds of monks from sprawling Labrang monastery, shouting and punching the
air, marched through the town of Xiahe in northwestern Gansu province. Police
fired teargas to disperse protesters brandishing the Tibetan national flag
showing snow lions."
Hundreds of Tibetans who rioted in the streets of Lhasa, attacking Han
Chinese with knives and rocks and burning shops and homes, must surrender to the
Chinese military by midnight tonight (4pm today) or face severe punishment.
Thousands of People’s Liberation Army troops patrolled Lhasa yesterday to
restore order in a city where furious Tibetans turned against ethnic Han Chinese
and Hui Muslims over the weekend. Young Tibetans stabbed Hans, threw rocks and
set fire to Han-owned shops. The violence was spreading quickly to provinces
where many Tibetans live.
Casualty figures were confused. Beijing reported that ten people burnt to
death in Lhasa and 12 police were seriously wounded. The Dalai Lama, denouncing
what he called cultural genocide against Tibetans, said he did not know how many
were dead but the toll could reach 80 or 100.
The unrest is the most serious to hit the deeply Buddhist Himalayan region in
nearly 20 years. Its rapid spread to other towns on the Roof of the World, where
most of the population are ethnic Tibetans, compounds China’s embarrassment just
as it is eager to present an image of a stable, united and prosperous nation
five months before the Olympics
The deadline for Tibetan protesters to surrender to the police has passed,
after a quiet day in the city of Lhasa.
China had given demonstrators in the city until midnight (1600 GMT) to give
themselves up or face punishment.
Exiled Tibetans said security forces had been rounding up political
dissidents and witnesses said there was a heavy police presence on the streets.
UPDATE: Wolf echoes my sentiments, "I personally believe that the Oympics should be cancelled, absurd for an oppressive regime to be hosting this. I think the oppression of the Dali Lama and the Tibetens by China is nothing short of despicable. Where has the UN ever been on this issue and this oppressed people who's land the Chinese confiscated? The money has been thrown and wasted on the so called Palestinian issue for the past 60 years especially post Oslo- on terrorists and is bathed in blood of Jews. Makes me sick. Of course Tibetens don't blow up people, planes and buildings, the Dali Lama is a friend of the Jews and Israel, is a major infidel, preaches peace and non-violence, doesn't have oil and the money to purchase propaganda and hate, so I guess he doesn't fit the bill for major funding, he's not a terrorist!.."
Little said in the international communitay of the latest crushing crackdown by the Chinese governement on those poor Tibetans. At least 80 killed. Why no rush by the UNSC to condemn the violence? No Jews involvedd? Tibet Protests Spread to Other Provinces - Ed wrote
The poor Tibetans, a truly oppressed and decimated people, have risen up reminding a world that has long since forgotten them of their existence. All of this, as the world turns its attention to China for the upcoming Olympics. Tibetan bravery in the face of overpowering Chinese strength is inspiring. We will not hear demands for a "proportional" Chinese response. One would expect that within the next day or two the Tibetans will be shut down because of the overwhelming Chinese military response. We will never know the true number of casualties nor what really happened because China has no free press and will not allow unfettered press access. This is an emergency and a humiliation for China. I have a suggestion for China. They should call for a special emergency session of UN Security Council perhaps additionally a meeting of the UN Human Rights Commission. They need to bring up something/anything regarding the Palestinians - the world's only true victims. Measures condemning and ostracizing Israel will be passed immediately in order to properly refocus the worlds attention. Otherwise, this thing may really get out of hand.

Gulf-based investors have become increasingly active in Asia in recent years,
and the trend looks set to continue over the medium term, according to Near East
meets Far East: the rise of Gulf investment in Asia, an Economist Intelligence
Unit report sponsored by Arcapita Bank B.S.C.(c). While claims that a "new Silk
Road" is emerging that will trump the Gulf's relations with the West look
overstated, there is little doubt that the small but substantial portion of
petrodollar investment going into the region (estimated at around 10-11% of
total Gulf outward investment) will increase significantly over the next five
years.
Several trends have underpinned the rising interest from investors in the
Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries in Asian assets:
Changing investment preferences in the
Gulf. In previous oil booms most of the billions of dollars in Gulf
capital was parked in the international banking system and US treasuries, and
the rest invested cautiously in portfolios that tended to favour capital
preservation over yield maximisation. Today GCC sovereigns are increasingly
managing their own surpluses directly, rather than outsourcing that process. At
the same time, the past decade has witnessed rising sophistication in the GCC
banking sector and among public and private investors, and deepening integration
of emerging markets into the world economy, which have also underpinned a
growing appetite among GCC investors for riskier Asian assets.
China has asked for a 30 per cent increase in crude oil imports from Saudi
Arabia for 2008 and also aims to raise imports from Iran, partly to feed two
new refineries amid steady demand growth, trading sources said yesterday.
Sinopec, Asia's top refiner, wants to increase Saudi crude imports to
600,000 barrels per day (bpd) for next year, up from this year's 460,000
bpd, a trading source close to the supply talks told Reuters.
The supply pact, pending Saudi confirmation, would foster closer energy ties
between Beijing and Riyadh, while maintaining the kingdom as China's top oil
supplier.
China is keen to secure more long-term fuel supplies while the Saudis are
building a refinery in China and looking to invest in a second one.
Thousands of protesters are dead and the bodies of hundreds of executed monks

Clearly Ban is wrong, Taiwan is NOT part of China. Bit more importantly, he can't do that. He can't make this declarative statements as if he were the king of the world. Just sayin.
(CNSNews.com)
- As Taiwan pursues its campaign for recognition in the international
community, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has come under
fire for stating that a 1971 U.N. resolution says Taiwan is a part of
China.
General Assembly resolution 2758 gave the U.N.'s "China"
seat -- held up to that point by the nationalist Republic of China
(ROC) government located in Taipei, Taiwan -- to the communist People's
Republic of China (PRC) government in Beijing. The resolution did not
pass judgment on the status of Taiwan, which Beijing claims as a rebel
province.
Thirty-six years after losing its seat, the Taiwanese
government last month submitted an application to join the U.N. under
the name "Taiwan," having failed on 14 previous occasions when applying
under the name "ROC."
Give 'em a seat!
(Applying as the "ROC," Taipei officials
said, recalled an earlier era when the nationalist Chinese in Taiwan
claimed all of China; now, the application is being made on behalf of a
self-governing democracy of 23 million people, altogether independent
of China.)
Nonetheless, the U.N. Secretariat rejected the
latest application, and in an explanation of the decision, Ban cited
resolution 2758.
The resolution, he said, stipulated that "the
government of China is the sole and legitimate government and the
position of the United Nations is that Taiwan is part of China." But
Ban got it wrong, experts pointed out. While the resolution recognized
the PRC as the only legitimate representative of China at the U.N., it
"said nothing at all about Taiwan being part of China," noted American
Enterprise Institute resident scholar Gary Schmitt in an article posted
Monday.
Taiwan Appeals to Communists In Its Bid for a Seat at the U.N.'
President Chen is correct that Taiwan is an "independent sovereign nation,"
which is true regardless if the members of the United Nations recognize it
[Foreign, "Taiwan Appeals to Communists in Its Bid for Seat at the U.N.," August

Rather than continuing her quest to join the Communists, Stalinists,
dictators, and members that acquiesce in their thuggery, Taiwan should celebrate
the fact that she has achieved more liberty and prosperity on her own than all
of the U.N. pet project states have put together.
The more the U.N. isolates and ridicules a country, the better off that
country becomes. Just look at Israel, and America for that matter. America
shouldn't support Taiwan's membership. We should join with our friends and walk
out the door.
What China seems to have forgotten about the marketplace is that the consumer buys products they can rely on. Products that won't kill them, hurt them burn them. That's reasonable.
China never really got the concept of the individual and working for one's moral value. They were free market whores -- rampant, reckless economic freedom with no political freedom. Sorry folks, ain't gonna work in the long term.

They are almost impossible to regulate.

ICBM's have a long range (approx 5000 miles) which means they can launch and strike our cities from near their coastline (at least the Russians could). (I don't know how far China's bases are from the US).
China having Nuclear-Powered Boomers means their Navy has become modern. They will be able to deploy virtually forever and launch from thousands of miles away from our country."

Perhaps it would be appropriate for this time and age to remove the statue of Nelson from Trafalgar Square and replace it with something less offensive like a burkha shoppe?

China has executed a Muslim activist for attempting “to split the motherland”
and
possessing firearms and explosives.
The death by firing squad of Ismail Semed was criticised by human rights
groups, who claimed that there was insufficient evidence to justify the
sentence.
Semed, an ethnic Uighur, was deported from Pakistan in 2003 and convicted two
years later. During his trial he said that he had been forced to sign a
confession. He was executed on Thursday in Urumqi, capital of the mainly Muslim
region of Xinjiang, northwest China.
Semed’s wife, Buhejer, told Radio Free Asia that she had been informed only
on Monday that her husband was to be executed and she was allowed to see him
briefly that day.
She said: “It was only for ten minutes, we didn’t have too much time to talk
. . . Previously, he had said his leg hurt, and his stomach hurt, and other
parts of his body hurt, and that he needed medicine.” He told her to take care
of their son and daughter and to make sure they received a good education.
She said: “When the body was transferred to us at the cemetery I saw only one
bullet hole, in his heart.”
The charge of attempting to split China stemmed from the allegation that
Semed was a founding member of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, outlawed by
Beijing as a terrorist group. Turkic-speaking Muslim Uighurs account for 8
million of the 19 million people in Xinjiang and have taken part in several
uprisings against Chinese rule.
Nicholas Bequelin, a Hong Kong-based China researcher for Human Rights Watch,
said: “The death penalty was widely disproportionate to the alleged crimes . . .
his trial did not meet minimum requirements of fairness and due process. We
don’t think there was sufficient evidence to condemn him.”
The exile group, the World Uighur Congress, also said the prosecution had
presented no credible evidence for a conviction. It said: “His trial, like most
Uighur political prisoners’ trials, was not fair.”
China has waged a campaign in recent years against what it says are violent
separatists and Islamic extremists attempting to set up an independent “East
Turkestan” in Xinjiang, which shares a border with Afghan-istan, Pakistan,
Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Mongolia.
Unease? Color me uneasy at the thought of 1000 "experts." And positively
nervous at a UN sponsored anything.
Unease over US role on net controlAustralian IT MORE than 1000 internet experts have gathered in Athens for
the first UN-sponsored internet governance forum, amid grumbling
over the dominant position of the US.
Grumbling? I bet..............hrumph!
Countries such as Iran and China objected to having the internet's technical
foundations managed by California's Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and
Numbers, a non-profit organisation under tender from the US Department of
Commerce.
Iran and China? Ah yes, mecca to freedom loving peoples everywhere. /
The US has resisted attempts to modify the existing framework, warning that
change could give more power to regimes that do not allow freedom of speech.
This is a renewed effort of a failed attempt last year to silence truth tellers, wrestle control of the
internet away from a free speech America (where there is no control, thank Gd) and shut down the last vestige of free,
unfettered opinion worldwide. The internet is the worst thing that ever happened
to despots and dictators everywhere.
Oh and btw, WTF does the UN have to do with it? The
internet is America's invention. We shared it with the rest of the world. Play nice killers.

China's Execution Buses
Sky News has obtained chilling new evidence of mobile execution buses being used by the Chinese government. It comes less than two years before China hosts the next Olympic Games.
The voiceover in the sky news video speaks of the "new and inventive" techniques being used by the Chinese to execute large numbers of people.
New? Inventive? Funny but the idea of that bus looks mighty familiar to me. Very Third Reich, very zyclonB...............it's how they killed the children (ane a great many others.)
The Democrats pick, pick, pick, pick at the national psyche with their tiny but sharp beaks, distracting us from the enemy's march to war. Iran has no intention of halting their uranium enrichment program and building their nuclear arsenal while one of their great benefactors, China has gone thermo. It is (if true) a real technological breakthrough..... the kind of things we should be doing more of.
We have to finance the jihad --- enslave ourselves to terror oil
because the left killed nuclear power plants as an alternative to oil
(and off shore drilling and ANWAR yada yada yada).
No America is busy debating the finer points of the care and feeding of savages terrorists captured in the act of killing our soldiers and citizens. Sick
You can thank Bill Clinton for this too. The STD that keeps on giving.
The hitherto unreported attacks have been kept secret by the
Bush administration for fear that it would damage attempts to co-opt China in
diplomatic offensives against North Korea and Iran.
Sources told the military affairs publication Defense News that
there had been a
fierce internal battle within Washington over whether to make
the attacks public. In the end, the Pentagon's annual assessment of the growing
Chinese military build-up barely mentioned the threat.
"After a contentious debate, the White House directed the
Pentagon to limit its concern to one line," Defense News said.
NORTH KOREAN NUKES: The US State Department is plainly worried about China's
Stalinist vassal. North Korea's mass murdering Dear Leader Kim Jong-il, one of
the world's truly psychotic heads of state, is reportedly bent on conducting an
underground nuclear bomb test. His regime is a declared nuclear power, and a
menace to the civilized world, but has yet to test a weapon. North Korea depends
on China for most of its food and fuel; and the Chinese and North Korean armies
are quite close. China will not support any truly tough or meaningful sanctions
against its vassal (a country that boasts concentration camps and actual gas
chambers, in which whole families have been murdered). Nor will China support
tough sanctions against nuclear developing Iran, which has followed China's
advice in attempting to buy time for its disputed uranium enrichment program by
offering "serious negotiations" to a divided Western world. China's
strengthening and deepening ties with Islamist Iran constitute the Communist
regime's most important relationship in the Muslim world....
AMERICAN APPEASEMENT: As for the US, it will bend over backwards to avoid public
criticism of China over the North Korean and Iranian issues. In fact, Washington
will go to great lengths to avoid angering Beijing over any issue now that it
seems to be rewarding US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson with a mysterious
upward creep in the relative value of China's manipulated currency, the yuan.
The fabulously rich former investment banker--he made 70 trips to China as
chairman of giant Goldman Sachs--is a fierce advocate of accommodating
(appeasing) China's rise. He and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice have
sidelined the administration's China critics, Vice President Dick Cheney and
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.
(Kyodo) _ A Chinese official said Tuesday that Chinese regulations
should make it "impossible" for a missile China sold to Iran to be
passed on to Lebanon's Hezbollah forces as alleged recently, but the
official added the case has yet to be investigated and Beijing is
paying attention to it.
"According to our regulations, it is impossible to have that kind
of situation," Sun Bigan, China's special envoy to the Middle East,
told reporters when asked about the allegation the China-sold missile
was passed on to Hezbollah who fired it at an Israeli ship.
Yeah, as they are laughing out of their ass.
But when asked if there have been investigations into the allegation, Sun said, "As far as I know, no."
Yeah, as they are laughing out of their ass.
Concerned authorities are "paying great attention" to the issue,
Sun added. "The Foreign Ministry is also placing importance on the
case."
Yeah, as they are laughing out of their ass.
Sun spoke to reporters after a visit to the Middle East where
he called on countries to implement a U.N.-brokered cease-fire between
Hezbollah and Israel.
Analysts say terror-sponsoring Iranian officials warned China back in June that
war was likely to break out between the Islamist nation's Lebanese proxy,
Hezbollah, and Israel. The officials, including Iranian President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad, allegedly discussed the possibility of conflict on the sidelines of
the annual Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit meeting.
Iran
had observer status at the SCO summit. In the name of regional security and
cooperation, the organization--a tool of Chinese foreign policy--groups the
Middle Kingdom with Russia and the countries of Central Asia in an emerging,
Warsaw
Pact-like alliance against the United States.
Ahmadinejad is
believed to have told his Chinese hosts that Iran had concluded that the US was
preparing a military attack on Iran over the nuclear dispute, and that a
preemptive proxy war was necessary to strengthen Tehran's military and political
position throughout the region. [...] Non-Arab Iran, as China expected, has emerged as the dominant power in the
region, uniting Shiites and Sunnis in a common struggle to defeat Israel and
drive the US from the Middle East.
Syria, a secular Sunni dictatorship
allied with Iran and Hezbollah, has also been strengthened as a result of the
war, its influence on the failed Lebanese state remarkably
restored.
Meanwhile, on Day One of a flawed United Nations-arranged
ceasefire--a deal riddled with loopholes through which Hezbollah can rearm,
reposition, and again fire its missiles--the most senior Chinese official in
charge of "nuclear nonproliferation issues" flew to Iran.
China's
official Xinhua News Agency reported that Vice Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai
departed for Tehran Monday to discuss "nuclear issues and other topics of mutual
concern" with Iranian officials.
Iran has vowed to continue--and even
expand--uranium enrichment, in defiance of a UN Security Council deadline for it
to suspend its nuclear activities by August 22 or face the threat of political
and economic sanctions. Tehran says its nuclear program is peaceful.
In
fact, Iran, as the US and many European countries claim, is moving as fast as it
can to develop nuclear weapons. Analysts tell China Confidential that Tehran may
be only a month or so away from having a weapon.
Condi's gross miscalculation of the French is at best --naive, at worst -- America's complete capitulaton to socialist, commie Eurabia. An historic, missed opportunity. Does she know that the French were lying about her
every step of the way? And they hate her? And they trash her every chance they
get? They are just one step behind the Palis in mocking her. Yes, she wants to get along with our "allies" (echoes of John Kerry) but it's no trick to agree with our allies and pursue a failed policy, her job is to wrangle them to stand up to Islamic fascism and stand against moral inversion and equivalency. That is the skill required for her mission as SoS.
The following is as good an overview of the current world crisis as I have seen from China Confidential;
In the United States, Secretary of State Condoleezza
Rice has successfully sidelined Vice President Dick Cheney and defense secretary
Donald Rumsfeld. US President George Bush has kept them around out of loyalty,
but their power and influence has been dramatically diminished. Rice has her
eyes on the Nobel Peace Price. China sees her as a closet foreign policy dove,
in contrast with Cheney and Rumsfeld, and a potential friend who has more or
less bought into Beijing's peacefully rising party line and the State
Department's ridiculous "responsible stakeholder" concept. Our prediction: like
former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, she will work for the bipartisan
China lobby after leaving State.
In Lebanon, Hezbollah is effectively
running the show and about to take over the military, which is 70 percent
Shiite. Nothing can stand in the way of Hezbollah's power grab and
mainstreaming. The organization's sponsor and paymaster, Iran, has thus won its
proxy war with Israel and the US, significantly strengthening Tehran's hand with
respect to the nuclear impasse.
In Israel, the government of Prime
Minister Ehud Olmert is on its last legs. His handling of the war was an utter
disaster, debunking the myth of Israeli invincibility and damaging Israel's
deterrent capabilities to a degree few would have thought possible prior to the
war.
At the United Nations, Secretary General Kofi Annan has resurrected
himself--at Israel's expense. Like Hezbollah, he showed that he can "stand up"
to the US and Israel.
Facing the latest North Korean provocation, a divided U.N. Security
Council yesterday failed to agree on a Japanese proposed resolution
that would declare Pyongyang’s missile launches illegal and impose
sanctions on the rogue communist country. [There was alot more going on in Graceland than hootchie cootchie, that's for sure - Atlas]
Sounds like a no brainer.
The usual despotic suspects stood in the way of stopping evil,
Russia and China. I shouldn't think we could expect any rational
support from two pillars in the axis of evil. I mean, really. North Korea is China's proxy.
“What North Korea did yesterday shows the wisdom and
leadership that President Bush displayed in 2001,” American ambassador
to the United Nations, John Bolton, told reporters yesterday. He was
alluding to Washington’s defiance of the ABM treaty, deploying “an
effective limited missile defense system to guard against attacks from
rogue states and accidental launches.”
The Bush administration has been “on the right course clearly for
the last six years,” Mr. Bolton, an avid supporter of missile defense,
said. NYSun
South Korean newspapers and FOX news are reporting
that North Korea has at least three more missiles on launch pads and
ready for firing.

China will never go for it and I have yet to see the UN effect any change for good. It is, at this point, a money grubbing, corrupt, polarizing, dangerous tool of facists, islamics, and communists. Hardly a force for good. Let's watch how this plays out but this is a failed institution (which is partly why things have gotten so out of hand.)
The left is spinning it already as a "non-event" (channeling Madeline not soBright.) A display of braggodocio as it were. It was Bush's birthday! They were launched in North Korea in the middle of the night to maximize media exposure in America ! We launched the shiuttle they launched some missiles, yada yada yada. Talk about denial. If we know anything, it is clear that something awful is foot. Japan knows it. They are most distressed.
North Korea could face a U.N. Security Council resolution Wednesday after test-firing a long-range missile earlier in the day.
The Security Council met at 10 a.m. EDT to discuss Pyongyang's launch of at least seven missiles, including a long-range Taepodong-2 that could in theory reach Alaska, in defiance of the international community.
A Chapter 7 resolution may be discussed at the Security Council meeting. The resolution, which concerns breaches of peace, could open the door to possible military response. It would be "more than a condemnation," U.N. sources told FOX News.
"This is obviously a very serious matter because of the North Korean provocation," said John Bolton, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. "But this is precisely what the Security Council is designed to handle, and we hope the council will rise to the occasion. FOX NEWS
This continuing development in the axis of evil is hardly surprising. What is the common thread, the anti-value these countries share? Not one values human life (hat tip Daryl).

Something for you to chew on while chewing on your Memorial Day ribs;
In futures studies,
a technological singularityrepresents an "event horizon" in the predictability of human
technological development past which present models of the future cease to give
reliable or accurate answers, following the creation of strong artificial intelligenceor the amplification of human intelligence.Futurists predict that after the
Singularity, humans as they exist presently will cease to be the dominating
force in scientific and technological progress, replaced with posthumans, strong AI, or both,
and therefore all models of change based on past trends in human behavior will
be obsolete.
From Wikipedia: A posthuman or post-human is a hypothetical future being whose
capabilities so radically exceed those of present humans as to be no longer human by current standards. A
posthuman can also be described as the creature that results from radical human enhancement.
In these ways, the difference between the posthuman and other hypothetical
sophisticated non-humans is that a posthuman was once a human, either in
its life time or in the life times of some or all of its direct ancestors. More here
In 2003, the Program of International Student Assessment (PISA) assessed the
level of knowledge of-not of "super-higher mathematics," and not even that of
higher mathematics, but of ordinary mathematics for school pupils of 14, "near
the end of mandatory school education." Participating were about 250,000 school
pupils of 29 countries, including over 5,000 pupils in more than 250 U.S.
schools.
The best results were attained by 5 countries, including South Korea (a
non-Western country!) and the worst results by 5 countries, including the U.S.,
which took 24th place among 29 participating countries, which did not include
China, Russia, or Arab countries.
Imagine the implications of a weapon that could knock out tanks, ships, and
planes as fast as the speed of light. The same technology, with modifications,
could disorient and even tranquilize military personnel, rendering them
virtually helpless in the battle zone.
For more than 50 years, the threat of nuclear war has riveted the world. With
the terror of assured mutual destruction, scientists have been searching for new
types of weapons that offer the promise of winning battles without the deadly
aftereffects of nuclear weapons. More here
But the very phrase "Mutual Assured Destruction," once widely used, has now
been forgotten in the West, and hence the forthcoming possession of nuclear
weapons in Iran has become a sufficient cause for a (nuclear) attack on Iran.
Let us recall the mathematical perception before the advent in the West of
the "higher mathematics" of Newton and others. Before, numbers had been added,
subtracted, multiplied and divided. That had been clear. But differentials or
integrals? What on earth were THOSE?
Bearden and Weeks think in terms of "higher geostrategy," which involves new
superweapons in China and Russia. But today's U.S. political and military
establishment does not understand these weapons – what on earth are they talking
about? Militarily and hence politically, the Western countries are becoming
backward – "underdeveloped" – while China, in alliance and in cooperation with
Russia, is regaining its position of the "Center of the World" ("Middle
Kingdom").
At the same time, the U.S. military establishment cannot stop the mouth of
its retired Lt. Col. Bearden on the plea that he is insane (of which Einstein
was also accused), since his U.S. military research background is impeccable.
Lt. Col. Thomas E. Bearden (U.S. Army, retired) is one of the two U.S. high
military officers (the other is Col. Byron Weeks, M.D., U.S. Army, retired) who
deal with today's "higher geostrategy," in contrast with the Pentagon, the U.S.
government, the CIA and the mainstream media,
There is much I counter (his harsh take on Rumsfeld for example) but politics aside - the idea of genetics, nanotechnology, robotics entropy, information theory, and moving towards a technological
singularity creates a new future reality with frightening implications;
Bearden's book. Its three "final urgent commentaries" are:
The darkest days in the history of our republic lie immediately
ahead of us.
If we are to survive, we shall need the most strenuous and rapid effort in
our history, NOW.
God bless and keep America! We pray for its survival.
It is
clear that Bearden is not an intellectual anarchist, baiting the establishment.
He continues to do what he did in the U.S. Army: Defend America. But defending
America requires knowing what superweapons the enemy may have and understanding
today's "higher geostrategy."
You and I will have to look more deeply into this .............right now must dash with the kids to a Memorial Day BBQ where I won't be discussing this as the revelers will absolutely look at me as if I had two heads or more probably see me as something of a posthuman.
We cannot rely on trial-and-error approaches to deal with existential
risks... We need to vastly increase our investment in developing
specific defensive technologies... We are at the critical stage today
for biotechnology, and we will reach the stage where we need to
directly implement defensive technologies for nanotechnology during the
late teen years of this century... A self-replicating pathogen, whether
biological or nanotechnology based, could destroy our civilization in a
matter of days or weeks." - Ray Kurzweil ......More here
Ray Kurzweil justifies his belief in an imminent singularity by an analysis of history from which he concludes that technological progress follows a pattern of exponential growth. He calls this conclusion The Law of Accelerating Returns. He generalizes Moore's law,
which describes exponential growth in integrated semiconductor
complexity, to include technologies from far before the integrated
circuit.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A heckler from the Falun Gong spiritual movement who disrupted a White House appearance by Chinese President Hu Jintao was charged in federal court on Friday with harassing, intimidating or threatening a foreign official.
A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office in Washington said the misdemeanor charge carries a penalty of up to six months in jail.
The woman, who entered the White House grounds as a reporter, interrupted a formal arrival ceremony between Hu and President George W. Bush on Thursday and shouted: "President Hu, your days are numbered. President Bush, make him stop persecuting Falun Gong."
The embarrassing episode marred the South Lawn event and created a diplomatic stir. Bush personally apologized to Hu for the incident.
U.S. officials identified the woman as Wang Wenyi, 47, a reporter with The Epoch Times, an English-language publication strongly supportive of the meditation movement that is banned in China.
Spokesman Channing Phillips said she
was arrested by the U.S. Secret Service and that the U.S. Attorney's office
decided to proceed by filing the federal charge in court. More here
Arrested? Very uncool. Very unamerican. Consider Falun Gong and what she is protesting and this;
There is a horrifying story going around the world: In the northeast of China, thousands of prisoners are being held, so that they can be killed for their organs. The prisoners are practitioners of Falun Gong, the meditation-and-exercise system. The facility at which they are being held — called a "concentration camp" or a "death camp" — is at Sujiatun. Chinese human-rights activists believe that this name should cause the same shudders as Treblinka and the others.
Over at NRO
Of course, "organ-harvesting" is a very familiar story: The PRC has been
doing it, with prisoners, for many years. In 2001, the U.S. Congress held
hearings on the matter, which caused a sensation. But the sensation died down,
as sensations tend to do. Organ-harvesting has gone on, with no negative
consequences for the Chinese government.
Organ-selling is a huge business for the Chinese. You can obtain organs in
China as you can nowhere else: any type, and very speedily. I also wish to direct you to an article by the tireless Bill Gertz of the

UNITED NATIONS (AFP) - Russia and China are opposing proposed United Nations Security Council sanctions against four Sudanese officials over their role in the bloodshed in Sudan's Darfur region, US Ambassador John Bolton said. [love him -Atlas]
Last week the Security Council's sanctions committee began a 48-hour silence procedure which, unless broken by a Council member, would mean approval of sanctions against four unidentified Sudanese officials deemed to be impeding the peace process and violating international human rights law. The procedure ends at 4:00 pm (2000 GMT) Monday.
"We've been advised informally that those delegations (Russia and China) will object under the procedures of the sanctions committee," Bolton told reporters. "In light of that I have asked for a meeting of the Council this afternoon to take up the sanctions issue."
If Bolton wasn't so pragmatic, I'd think him Don Quixote. I mean, really. Next time I see him remind me to ask him, what do you consider a good day?
The sanctions involve an assets freeze and travel restrictions on the four
individuals for their alleged role in the Darfur violence, which Washington calls genocide.
The list of four Sudanese officials was submitted more than a year after the Council adopted Resolution 1591, which authorizes measures against people committing atrocities or undermining peace efforts in Sudan's western region.
UN officials are preparing to send peacekeepers to Darfur by the end of the
year or at the beginning of 2007 to take over from cash-strapped AU troops, who
have failed to restore peace in the vast western Sudanese region.
Sudanese President Omar al-Beshir is strongly opposed to the UN mission.
The combined effect of fighting and a dire humanitarian crisis

China and Russia engage in joint exercises to

Weighed down by the commercial interests of Russia and China and the
political allegiances of Islamic and African states, the U.N. Security
Council has proceeded at a glacial pace in addressing what the U.N.'s
own investigators have called the world's worst humanitarian crisis.
Last spring, after two years of bloodshed, it announced meager
sanctions that might be applied to individuals responsible for the
carnage in Darfur and threatened war criminals with prosecution at the
International Criminal Court.
Asserting its diplomatic muscle far beyond the role it has traditionally played, China yesterday blocked a British-American motion at the Security Council to impose targeted sanctions against four Sudanese individuals accused of atrocities in Sudan's Darfur region, where, according to the Bush administration, a genocide is occurring. The United States confirmed Monday the five permament members of
the UN Security Council plus Germany would meet in Berlin on Thursday as efforts

VIENNA, Austria Mar 8, 2006 (AP)— Iran threatened
the United States with "harm and pain" Wednesday for its role in
hauling Tehran before the U.N.
Security Council over its disputed
nuclear program.
"The United States has the power to cause harm and pain," Iran said
a statement meant for delivery at the International Atomic Energy
Agency's 35-nation board meeting in Vienna on Iran's refusal to freeze
uranium enrichment.
"But the United States is also susceptible to harm and pain. So if
that is the path that the U.S. wishes to choose, let the ball roll."
LAHORE: Iran held secret talks with Shia militant leaders from Iraq and
Lebanon only days before the country’s nuclear negotiators threatened
America with “harm and pain”, Sunday Telegraph reported. The Iraqi
firebrand cleric, Moqtadr al-Sadr and the chief of the armed Shia group
Hizbollah in Lebanon, Hassan Nasrallah, held separate consultations
with leading officials in Teheran.
If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without
bloodshed, if you will not fight when victory will be sure and not so costly,
you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against
you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may be a worse case. You may
have to fight when there is no chance of victory, because it is better to perish
than to live as slaves. -- Winston

BRITAIN is pressing for a United Nations resolution that would open the way for
punitive sanctions and even the use of force if Iran were to refuse to halt its
controversial nuclear programme.
In a confidential letter obtained by The Times, a leading British
diplomat outlines a strategy for winning Russian and Chinese support by early
summer for a so-called Chapter VII resolution demanding that Iran cease its
nuclear activities.
If the Government in Tehran refused to comply with
such a resolution, the UN Security Council would be legally compelled to enforce
it.
The strategy marks a significant hardening of the Government’s position.

China said on Thursday, a day after Russian
President Vladimir Putin left Beijing, that Beijing and Moscow are in accord on
Iran's nuclear standoff with the West.
During the question and answer portion of John Bolton's appearance before the Middle East Forum earlier today, I was tempted to ask when would we say uncle. At what point would America stop the circle jerk with Eurabia and Iran nuclear enablers Russia and China and take preemptive action in Iran.
I didn't. And the reason I didn't was because I knew he wouldn't/couldn't tell me.
Vital Perspective's sources say that Iran has moved significantly
closer to full self-sufficiency in operating a fuel cycle. The IAEA has made it
known that Iran has completed the construction of a 164-centrifuge cascade, the
minimum necessary for full-scale nuclear-fuel enrichment. While the stalemate in
the Security Council continues as a result of Russia's stalling, Iran is moving
dangerously closer to the technological point of no return.
UPDATE: China and Russia Unite in Anti-American Stance During Putin’s Beijing Visit
One Time Communist Rivals Attack Policies of American National Security Strategy; Talk of Oil Pipeline RICHARD SPENCER
— The Daily Telegraph
BEIJING — Russia and China marked the arrival of President Putin on a state visit to Beijing yesterday by launching twin attacks on American foreign policy, in a sign of the growing ties between the two former communist rivals.
Both leaders responded strongly to the American condemnation of their human rights.
America has criticized Russia for hampering democratic development at home and in former Soviet States, and China for its lack of transparency in military spending and its ties to countries with poor human rights records.
As China emerges from the era when it kept diplomatic silence on most world events, it is increasingly finding itself in the same camp as Russia.
The European Union has also been disappointed at the joint refusal of Russia and China to join in what it sees as its “middle way” approach to the Iran nuclear issue, with both refusing to countenance the threat of sanctions at the U.N. Security Council. Both have major interests in Iran, and the two countries are thought to coordinate their responses on Middle East policy.
The two powers also have taken a joint initiative to set up a grouping of Central Asian states such as Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, where America had hoped to boost its influence, called the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Call me crazy, but if we are waiting on these two sinister members of the Perm 5 (of the Security Council) to assist in the cessation efforts of Iran's nuclear weapon proliferation, I am afraid we are sadly, greatly, mistaken.
John R. Bolton, the U.S. ambassador, said he and his European counterparts will continue to press Russia and China to endorse the text Tuesday morning at a meeting of the council's five permanent members. "We're trying to hold the perm five together, but reality is reality and time is an important factor given the Iranians continue to progress towards overcoming their technological difficulties" in developing a nuclear weapon, Bolton said.
I can not imagine why we would expect to get any support from the Chicoms, considering they most likely had a hand in helping Iran develop their nuclear technology, thanks again Bubba.
Do we really expect help from a government like this?
CHINA
(China Aid Association) The first trial of the 17 top leaders from a Chinese
religious group ended March 3rd, after three-and-a-half days. Inhumane torture,
including sexual abuse, was revealed by some defendants during the court trial.
CAA learned from a government source that only one relative of each of the 17
defendants was allowed to attend the hearing. One defendant, Mr. Xu, immediately
revoked his so-called "confession papers" as soon as the court finished reading
the prosecutors interrogation records. He said the listed confessions were
signed under enormous torture, when "I would rather die than live." He was hung
in the air for five hours after sleep deprivation for five days and nights. Some
self-claimed "torture experts" tied his fingers, toes and genitals with wire and
then connected the wire to electricity. One defendant was hung in the air with a
very thick blanket and then electrified after he got extremely wet.

Freegate -- by connecting computers inside of China to servers in the

Behind Freegate is a North Carolina-based Chinese
hacker named Bill Xia. He calls it his red pill, a reference to the
drug in the "Matrix" movies that vaulted unconscious captives of a
totalitarian regime into the real world. Mr. Xia likes to refer to the
villainous Agent Smith from the Matrix films, noting that the digital
bad guy in sunglasses "guards the Matrix like China's Public Security
Bureau guards the Internet." [....]China also has gotten some U.S. Internet companies to
limit the search results they provide or the discussions they host on
their Chinese services. A tiny firm Mr. Xia set up to provide and
maintain Freegate had to lobby computer-security companies such as Symantec Corp., of Cupertino, Calif., not to treat it as a virus.
In response to China's crackdown, and to restrictions

mustered to defeat them. "Hacktivists," they call themselves.

Update: We've read the comments that say Google is doing only the same as the
U.S. and many other governments. But hang on. The U.S. State Department's online

Other online maps simply list the island as ``Taiwan,'' and don't wade into the

Two analysts downgraded Google (Research) to "sell" in the past week, citing

Some investors are worried about the potential impact of a recent squabble between the federal government and Google. The government has sought information from search engines as part of its attempts to reenact a law to protect minors from online pornography.
The Justice Department has said that several of Google's competitors have cooperated with its request for records. But Google has so far refused to hand over any information, citing privacy concerns. As a result, the Justice Department filed a motion in a U.S. District Court last week demanding that Google turn over random search results.
Finally, Google has also come under fire for launching a version of its site in China which allows the Chinese government to censor search results about topics such as human rights.

It’s an interesting exercise to connect the dots
between news stories – especially when the dots are hidden. Take the headline
story appearing last Friday, China Gains $60 Billion in Foreign Investment
in 2005. Reuters opened the story with this line:
BEIJING (Reuters), January 13, 2006 - China attracted more than $60
billion in foreign direct investment in 2005 for the second year in a row as
firms flocked to take advantage of the country's low wages and fast-growing
market of 1.3 billion people.
Every news outfit from the
Financial Times to the Wall St. Journal to CNN crowed about how “foreign
investors” and “multinationals” were pouring their money into China to get a
piece of China’s “booming economy.” None of them revealed the story is a
sham. None of them told you that over half of that $60 billion in
“foreign investment” is laundered money from China, not foreign
investors.
Foreign companies investing in China pay 15% in corporate
taxes while domestic companies pay 33%. So Chinese businessmen set up a
“foreign” corporation in Hong Kong or some other tax haven and cycle their money
through it, saving cumulative billions in the process. The game has been going
on for years.
None of these stories told you that Western investment in
China has been flat for years. Total Western (Europe-US-Australia-Canada)
investment in China was about $6 billion in 1995 and a little over $8 billion in
2004. Last year, 2005, EU countries’ China investment increased by 22% while
American investment dropped by 22%.
Chinese FDI from 1995 ($35b)
to 2000 ($37b) showed little increase at all. It took off starting in 2000 due
to Asian investment (primarily Japan, South Korea, Taiwan) and a tremendous
increase in the Chinese money laundry cycle. It doesn’t come from us.
If
the story on China’s “$60 Billion FDI” had revealed these dots, you could easily
connect them to an item appearing in yesterday’s (January 18) Wall St. Journal:
Unrest in China Begins to Worry Businesses. You would think that the
“businesses” in question were foreign ones investing in China, right? But all
the WSJ reporters talked about were local Chinese companies worried about the
impact of anti-government demonstrations in their area.
It never occurred
to the reporters that there might be a connection between “the growing number of
large-scale violent protests” the article describes and the 22% drop in US
investment in China last year.
Directly below this WSJ article was
another: Chinese Personal Savings Reach Record Level. Chinese families
put an average of 40% of their yearly income in savings – the world’s highest.
The article notes that Chinese “put most of their savings in banks.”
What
the article does not note is that most of the banks are broke – that is, they
have more uncollectable debts than they have assets and loans. This is because
the government forces the banks to constantly loan money to state-owned
enterprises (SOEs) which will never be paid back.
There are over a
quarter-million SOEs employing over 100 million people. The government has to
keep the SOE scheme afloat, and it’s doing so with the private savings of its
citizens.
Now come the fun dots. Neal Asbury (author of TTP’s
Asbury’s World) is going to love this.
The Beijing government
has constructed a shell game called AMCs to try and wiggle out of their bank
crisis. The Chicoms created a series of “Asset Management Companies” that take
over the banks’ bad debts, giving the banks clean balance sheets, then allow
foreign financial institutions to purchase a minority interest.
They are
driven to do this because China has become a member of the WTO, the World Trade
Organization, which obligates it to open its banking system to foreign
competition. This is going to result in two things that will bring satisfaction
to Neal’s soul.
The desperate move by the Chicoms to scrub their banks
clean with AMCs notwithstanding, starting this year Chinese families and workers
will be able to put their savings in foreign and privately owned banks paying
good interest, prompting them to take their savings out of banks owned by a
government they despise and which pays them little or no interest.
Thus
the AMC gambit is in Short Run City, and the state-owned banks are soon to be in
more trouble than ever.
And it gets worse.
It’s a Ponzi scheme that holds China
together, and when it falls apart, China becomes unglued.
The scheme
can’t work for much longer. This dot is one reason: China’s portion of
consumption for the entire world is 12% of energy, 25% of aluminum, 28% of
steel, 42% of cement – and yet China produces only 4.3% of the world’s total
economic output.
This is an astounding ratio of economic inefficiency.
It cannot be sustained, yet the ratio is getting worse.
Connect all
these Chinese dots and you get a dark picture of collapse and chaos. Maybe the
Chicoms will be able to finesse their way out of this picture for a while. But
they cannot erase the dots. The dots spell out their doom, a doom which they may
delay but will not be able to evade. Thanks Jack

and not to be outdone Russia, China want talks not sanctions on

The "Bush Doctrine"
stated plainly that there would be no distinction between terrorists and those
who harbor them, Ahmadinejad has stated his intentions plainly. Who is with him? Get your checklist out. The boil off the Florida Coast is festering.
Britain, France, and Germany admitted that their two years of talks to stop
Iran's nuclear weapons program had collapsed. This negotiating exercise,
designed as an alternative to the U.S. approach of imposing sanctions on Iran
for its violations of the Non-Proliferation Treaty, gave Iran time to harden its
nuclear facilities against bombardment, acquire new antiaircraft capacities and
clandestinely advance its program.
Instead of being years away from the point of no return for an Iranian bomb,
as we were before we allowed Europe to divert anti-proliferation efforts into
transparently useless talks, Iran is probably just months away, and now led by a
president who fervently believes in the imminence of the apocalypse.
Having delayed two years, we now have to deal with a set of fanatical
Islamists who we know will not be deterred from pursuing nuclear weapons by any
sanctions. Even if we could get real sanctions. Which we will not.
The Chinese in particular have secured in Iran a source of oil and gas
outside the American sphere to feed their growing economy and are quite happy
geopolitically to support a rogue power that - like North Korea - threatens,
distracts, and diminishes the power of China's chief global rival, the United
States.
The Europeans have no appetite for real sanctions either. A cutoff of
investment and high-tech trade from Europe would be a minor irritant to a
country of 70 million people with the second-largest oil reserves in the world
and with oil at $60 a barrel. It is the Iranians who have the world over a
barrel. On Jan. 15, Iran's economy minister warned that Iran would retaliate for
any sanctions by cutting its exports to "raise oil prices beyond levels
the West expects.

sanctions Chinese firms over Iran dealings WASHINGTON: The United States has imposed sanctions on six Chinese
state-run firms for selling missiles or chemical weapons-related supplies to

designed by Washington to block international aid for what it suspects are
Iranian nuclear and chemical weapons programmes.

We also know that China shared it with North Korea and Iran as a counter balance to America's hyper power. We know that China operates by proxy as Iran does via Syria, Hezbollah, Hamas. We know China funds and supports the Radical Islamic Arab barbarians in the Sudan. We know China is an adversary.
A monthly UN report on the situation in Sudan's
strife-torn Darfur region spotlighted an upsurge in killings of civilians,
including children, and rape of women during the month of October. The report by
UN chief Kofi Annan, which was unveiled here this week, said that despite
government pledges to launch joint military and police patrols on highways to

The rebels in the west have
recently been observed or implicated in attacks against each other and
international aid workers, not just the government-sponsored Janjaweed militias
they claim to be fighting against. An African Union (A.U.) peacekeeping mission
to Darfur has been ineffectual at best, a failure by design of the United
Nations Security Council at worst. The government has pursued genocide by
attrition in Darfur by limiting the access of aid workers, continuing to support
the militias, and preventing the planting and harvesting of crops in the region.

U.S. Ambassador John Bolton took a hard line on the world body Tuesday, showing
exactly why his contentious appointment was so important.
Bolton, speaking to reporters outside of the General Assembly hall, said the U.N. should delay passage of its $3.6 billion 2006-07 budget until needed reforms have been adopted.
Bolton's candor isn't the usual refined civility -- and often dishonesty -- that's expected of a diplomat. But then that's why we and others were so insistent that Bolton should be assigned to the post of U.S. ambassador to the U.N., even if President Bush had to make a recess appointment, an alternative that he wisely chose.
Worse than being merely ineffective -- which it unarguably is -- the U.N. is a corrupt organization. The most recent scandal, in which U.N. officials took kickbacks from Saddam Hussein to game the oil-for-food program, is more of a grand example of institutional U.N. depravity than it is an exception to model behavior.
It is also shameful the way the U.N. has become a club for the privileged and the connected. Are we the only ones who chafe at the injustice of delegates from impoverished and oppressed nations enjoying all the luxuries that New York City has to offer while they do little -- if anything -- to help their countrymen back home?
The pattern of misconduct could at least be overlooked if the U.N. were an effective organization, if it could stop an unjust war every now and then, halt the occasional genocide or save a few thousand from starvation. But it's no more effective at doing these things than the Kenosha, Wis., Moose Lodge chapter.
Noting the U.N.'s fecklessness and the fact that it has yet to genuinely address its shortcomings with the reforms it promised in September, Bolton indicated that the U.S. could look outside the organization in the future when trying to solve problems across the world.
"Americans are a very practical people, and they don't view the U.N. through theological lenses," Bolton said. "They look at it as a competitor in the marketplace for global problem-solving, and if it's successful at solving problems they'll be inclined to use it."
Well, at least many Americans are ready to look beyond the U.N. Some will defend it to the end.
Still others are ready to give up on the U.N., rip the whole anti-American mess from its foundation and pitch it into the East River.
That's not an entirely unreasonable position, nor one held only by marginal groups. The U.N. has gobbled up tens of billions of dollars, yet can scarcely point to any major successes that it's been responsible for.
The thinking that inspired those bumper stickers that read "Get The U.S. Out Of The U.N. And The U.N. Out Of The U.S." is legitimate.

China is the greatest enemy of the Western economy and society. The world
does not yet sense the full power of its peril, but it will soon become
apparent.
The Western world will then awaken from the illusions of cooperation and its
sophisticated willingness, as it were, to take advantage of China's latent
economic potential. Once again it will become evident that the naivet in the
world, and in Israel, has been shattered by reality. Israel, which imitates
Europe on this matter, courts openings with the Chinese and pays a socioeconomic
price of which we have yet to become aware.
China is a dangerous combination of a totalitarian regime overseeing a

China has put together a 450 man peacekeeping force for duty in

viable economy after it leaves the territory within days.
How very strange that the UN should rebuff China's insistence to deal with human fights "its own way". I mean really. Think about it. It seems to me that the United Nations and China share the exact same malevolent idea of "human rights". Between the child raping UN "peacekeeping forces, the graft, the terror supporting UN doesn't seem all that different than the Chinese human rights abuses and exploitation of their own people.
Any world body that considers the Israelis as oppressors and Palis as victims is in for a hell of alot of woe (as is written in the Bible woe to those that call evil good and good evil)
So while the left continues to Blame Bush and count his vacation days (by the looks of it, it doesn't appear to be much of a vacation - seems like he's working from the ranch),the world is going to hell in a handbasket while our enemies conspire against us with the most malevolent of intentions. Here we have China sending a "military delegation from China" to discusss their "mutual enemies"
Iran received a military delegation from China, paving
the way for cooperation in the defense field, Iran's Mehr News agency reported,
citing Brigadier General Nasser Mohammadi Far, the commander of the Iranian
army's ground forces.
The Chinese delegation is in Iran for talks on ``developing military
relations, deepening bilateral ties and paving the way for military
cooperation,'' the state-run Iranian news agency said. The press office of
China's Ministry of Defense in Beijing declined to comment on the delegation's
visit.
`Our mutual enemies possess advanced military technology, and undoubtedly
they would rely on this technology in any possible future wars,'' Mehr News
quoted Mohammadi Far as saying. ``Therefore, it seems necessary that both Iran
and China upgrade their defense and military technology.''
Do not for one second doubt Iran's intentions as evidenced here;
Iran hails Gaza
pullout as Palestinian victory TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran on Thursday welcomed Israel's pullout from
the Gaza Strip after nearly four decades of occupation, state radio reported.
It was China that gave Iran the nuclear technology and we have Bill Clinton to thank for turning over dangerous nuclear technology to China.
"How did it come about that highly sensitive technical information was given to
the Chinese? Why did the president [Clinton] ignore the national security experts who
counseled against this deal? What damage has been done to our national
security?" Goss asked.
I accused the President of withholding information and covering up the Chinese
theft of super-secret W-88 nuclear warhead technology. Those who possess this
miniaturization capability can place as many as ten nuclear warheads on a single
missile and aim each at a separate target. A W-88 nuclear warhead weighs only
300 pounds but has an explosive capacity ten times that of the bomb dropped on
Hiroshima in 1945. This is perhaps the most serious breach of national security
in our lifetimes — more serious than the treachery of Aldrich Ames who betrayed
the CIA, and perhaps more serious than what the Rosenbergs did in delivering
nuclear secrets to the Soviet Union 50 years ago.
We now have evidence showing that the Administration knew about the W-88
technology theft in April 1996. But no one in Congress learned about it until
early in 1999 when some of the findings of the Cox Committee came to light. It
is also true that the President knew China has already aimed intercontinental
ballistic missiles at our nation.
UPDATE: Pastorius over at the most excellent Internet Journal of Public Policy has a must read essay on the China-Russia-Iran Alliance. In his opinion, China and Russia are using Iran as an
unaccountable weapon in the same way states like Iran and Saudi Arabia use Al
Qaeda as an unaccountable weapon [and Syria, Hezbollah and Hamas].
2008 is looming large on the world stage, and not just for us here in
America-land. Yes, the year looks likely to see the most exciting presidential
race in US history, one between Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican
Condoleeza Rice, which Condi will win. (You can get a “Rice2008” bumper sticker
at Rice2008 or T-shirt at AmericansForRice )
And yes, the race will electrify
the world and gain its rapt attention. Somehow, however, lots of folks in other
places will also focus on events of far more personal importance to them –
particularly in China and Taiwan.
2008 is the year of Communist China’s
coming-out party, when it hosts the Beijing Olympics. The Chicoms intend to use
the 2008 Beijing Olympics as did the Nazis in the 1936 Berlin Olympics – as a
glorification of their rule and a demand that the world provide it with the
prestige it so desperately craves.
2008 is also the year of the next
presidential election in Taiwan. After two terms, President Chen Shui-bian
cannot run for re-election. How those contending to succeed him will conduct
their campaigns may determine the survival of Taiwan – and of China

A man whose ability and independence leads others to reject him, but who perseveres nevertheless to achieve his values. Man as an individual, as a creator. What's the most depraved type of human being? Not a sadist or a murderer or a sex maniac or a dictator; "The man without a purpose." Yet most people seem to go through their lives without a clearly defined purpose.
Life has Loveliness to sell,
All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fires that sways and swing,
And children's faces looking up,
Holding wonder like a cup
Life has Loveliness to sell,
Music like a curve of Gold,
Scent of pinetrees in the rain,
Eyes that love you,
arms that hold,
And for your spirit's still delight,
Holy stars that star the night.
Spend all you have for loveliness,
Buy it and never count the cost;
For one white singing hour of Peace
Count many a year of strife well lost
And for a breath of ecstasy
Give all you have been, or could be.
