Israeli fencer Daria Strelnikov won the gold medal at the cadet's fencing world championship in Austria Saturday night. However, as the 14-year-old athlete stood at the podium waiting to hear the Israeli national anthem, she was greeted by a disturbing quiet.
Strelnikov and a fellow teammate on the podium decided to fill in the silence by singing Hatikva themselves. They were joined by their coach, and other supporting voices in the crowd.

US ORG. HOSTS CANCER MEET, ISRAELIS NOT

A United States-based organization's conference on breast cancer awareness,
to be hosted in Egypt, has been touted by international news networks as an
example of “unprecedented cooperation” in the region. However, according to
Channel 2 news, the celebration of unity may be premature, as Israeli doctors were told at the last minute
that their invitations to participate had been rescinded.
The conference will be held in Alexandria, Egypt this week, under the
auspices of the American group Susan G. Komen for the Cure the world's largest breast cancer advocacy
organization. It is to include meetings between leading researchers from the
U.S. and several Mideast countries.
Israeli doctors were invited to the event as well, and several had planned
to attend. However, on Sunday night, the doctors received brief notices telling
them that they were no longer invited to the conference, by order of Egyptian
Health Minister Hatem el-Gabali.
The notices did not include an explanation of Gabali's decision.
Despite the cancellation of the Israeli presence at the event, Egyptian officials continued to praise the event as an example of regional cooperation. "The week's events are a demonstration of the cooperation between countries, governments, civil society, advocates, survivors, and the global community as a whole," Dr. Mohammed Shaalan of Egypt's Breast Cancer Foundation told Reuters on Monday. "It shows that breast cancer has no boundaries and reveals the beauty of the world's unity in its fight against breast cancer."

“It is my responsibility
to see that our policy in Israel fits in with our
policy throughout the world; second, it is my desire
to help build in Palestine a strong, prosperous,
free and independent democratic state. It must be
large enough, free enough, and strong enough to make
its people self-supporting and secure,” President
Truman said in a speech October 28, 1948.
Truman's commitment was quickly tested after Israel's victory in its War of Independence when she applied to the U.S. for economic aid
to help absorb immigrants. President Truman responded by approving a
$135 million Export-Import Bank loan and the sale of surplus
commodities to Israel. In those early years of Israel's statehood (also
today), U.S. aid was seen as a means of promoting peace.
In 1951, Congress voted to help Israel cope with
the economic burdens imposed by the influx of Jewish refugees from the
displaced persons camps in Europe and from the ghettos of the Arab
countries. Arabs then complained the U.S. was neglecting them, though
they had no interest in or use for American aid then. In 1951, Syria
rejected offers of U.S. aid. Oil-rich Iraq and Saudi Arabia did not
need U.S. economic assistance, and Jordan was, until the late 1950s,
the ward of Great Britain. After 1957, when the United States assumed
responsibility for supporting Jordan and resumed economic aid to Egypt,
assistance to the Arab states soared. Also, the United States was by
far the biggest contributor of aid to the Palestinians through UNRWA, a
status that continues to the present.
U.S. economic grants to Israel ended in 1959. U.S.
aid to Israel from then until 1985 consisted largely of loans, which
Israel repaid, and surplus commodities, which Israel bought. Israel
began buying arms from the United States in 1962, but did not receive
any grant military assistance until after the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
As a result, Israel had to go deeply into debt to finance its economic
development and arms procurement. The decision to convert military aid
to grants that year was based on the prevailing view in Congress that
without a strong Israel, war in the Middle East was more likely, and
that the U.S. would face higher direct expenditures in such an
eventuality.
Israel has received more direct aid from the United
States since World War II than any other country, but the amounts for
the first half of this period were relatively small. Between 1949 and
1973, the U.S. provided Israel with an average of about $122 million a
year, a total of $3.1 billion (and actually more than $1 billion of
that was loans for military equipment in 1971-73) . Prior to 1971,
Israel received a total of only $277 million in military aid, all in
the form of loans as credit sales. The bulk of the economic aid was
also lent to Israel. By comparison, the Arab states received nearly
three times as much aid before 1971, $4.4 billion, or $170 million per
year. Moreover, unlike Israel, which receives nearly all its aid from
the United States, Arab nations have gotten assistance from Asia,
Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union and the European Community. Congress
first designated a specific amount of aid for Israel (an "earmark") in
1971.

President Jimmy Carter played an active role in the Israel-Hamas exchange last
week in which Israel released 20 female terrorists in exchange for a short video
of hostage soldier Gilad Shalit. Carter's involvement was revealed by senior
Hamas terrorist Mahmoud A-Zahar in an interview with the Arab-language daily
Al-Kuds al-Arabi.
While current U.S. politicians do not
speak to Hamas, which is recognized internationally as a terrorist group, Carter
has had frequent contact with the group as a private citizen. He has met with
Hamas's Gaza head, Ismail Haniyeh, and its foreign leader, Khaled
Mashaal.
In December of 2008 Carter met with
Mashaal and advised him on the price to demand in exchange
for Shalit. Carter has also met with Shalit's family, and in a visit during June
2009, reported that he had delivered a letter from them to Hamas to give to the
captive soldier.

(Jerusalem) – NGO Monitor today revealed that the Palestinian NGO Al-Mezan,
behind the effort to arrest Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, is
funded by a number of European governments. Although the UK
authorities rejected the attempt, NGO Monitor notes that Al-Mezan’s
role is another example of the abuse of European taxpayer funding in
the anti-Israel ‘lawfare’ campaign.
Al-Mezan’s activities reflect a consistent anti-Israel agenda and demonization, including claims of Israeli ‘apartheid’.
This case is the latest stage in the NGO-led ‘lawfare’
campaign. Under the façade of judicial processes, NGOs utilize
universal jurisdiction provisions to promote and justify the isolation
and boycotts of Israel and its leaders.
UK courts have
rejected all previous NGO cases against Israeli leaders, showing the
emphasis on publicity. Previous UK cases include those against Doron
Almog and Shaul Mofaz, involving Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR). In November 2008 and July 2009, the UK Court of Appeal dismissed cases brought by Al Haq against the UK government to end export licenses to Israel.
NGO Monitor’s President, Prof Gerald Steinberg said, “European
governments that funnel taxpayer funds to these radical NGOs are paying
for the demonization of Israel, and fueling the conflict.
Al-Mezan has joined other NGOs in using the courts to promote
anti-Israel bias. In addition to the attack on Ehud Barak, Al-Mezan
also contributed to the foundations of the Goldstone report, which is
another form of ‘lawfare’”.

I am William Gomes from Dhaka, Bangladesh. I am former Muslim, now a

I monitor incidents of violence on minorities in Bangladesh, and work
toward protection of their human rights.
On Wednesday evening, 23 September 2009, the local leader of pro-Islam
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) suddenly attacked my cousin
Mohammed Faruk, who came to visit us with his wife. When my father and
mother ran to save him, they hurt them as well.
When I ran to the place, they started threatening me that since I have
converted to Christianity, I cannot live in that place; I must leave
the area now; otherwise, they will kill me. Before for my conversion
to Christianity, the people were telling around that they would to
kill me if I converted.
I ran from there to my house, and called the local police. The police
came to my place. And within a moment, more than 100 thugs came with
the local BNP leaders, Mohammed Mijan Bandari and Mohammed Mojibar,
and entered my house. I urged the police to make them leave my house,
but they ignored my request. The crowd stood their ground in my house,
and continued threatening me.
Finally, to save myself from the angry crowd, I followed the police to
police station. There I filed a general diary (G.D.). Later on, the
perpetrators came with a huge crowd threatening my parents, and forced
them to file a memorandum saying that everything has been settled.
The police played a silent spectator in this incident. My family and I
remain in fear of persecution and violence by the local Muslim thugs.
We feel helpless.
I appeal to Bangladesh government and international community to work
toward protection of minorities in Bangladesh, and ensure their
rights.

the same battle dilemmas facing UK and US armies in foreign fields.”
Kosky states that the Goldstone Report “pays lip service to the
complexities of asymmetric warfare, preferring the easy route of
criticism. Rather than advise how to better stop groups such as Hamas
and Islamic Jihad who deliberately target civilians, Goldstone opts for
straightforward denunciation of Israel.” The Organization of the Islamic Conference is driving the UN bus (right off the cliff).
The Zionist Organization of America
(ZOA) has condemned in the strongest possible terms the outrageous Goldstone/UN
report on the 2008-9 Israel-Hamas Gaza hostilities, which ignores all Hamas
assaults upon Israel that led to Israel’s operations in Gaza and which bases its
condemnation of Israel on unsubstantiated Palestinian testimony. The Report
claimed to find no conclusive evidence that Hamas used Palestinian civilians as
human shields in the fighting; copied major, politicized distortions of
international legal norms habitually made by anti-Israel NGOs; falsely
reclassified Hamas personnel as civilian police in order to indict Israel for
legitimate assaults upon these forces; and invented non-existent legal
obligations of which it then proceeded to find Israel in
breach./span>
The Goldstone Commission was created
by the UN Human Rights Council, a body created in 2005, which is dominated by
dictatorial regimes, including Arab regimes. In just three years, the HRC’s
controlling membership eliminated probes into the most serious human-rights
abuses in Belarus, Congo, Cuba, Liberia and Sudan. In that time, some 200,000
people have been killed and 2.5 million displaced in Darfur alone. During the
same period, however, the HRC passed 33 resolutions, of which 26 related to
Israel, which has been the only country specifically condemned by the Council.
UN Resolution S-9/1which established
the mandate for the Goldstone commission said the Human Rights Council “Decides
to dispatch an urgent, independent international fact-finding mission, to be
appointed by the President of the Council, to investigate all violations of
international human rights law and international humanitarian law by the
occupying Power, Israel, against the Palestinian people throughout the Occupied
Palestinian Territory, particularly in the occupied Gaza Strip, due to the
current aggression, and calls upon Israel not to obstruct the process of
investigation and to fully cooperate with the mission.”
In other words, the UN resolution
itself was fatally flawed, as it decided in advance that 1. Israel was an
aggressor, not a defender after sustaining thousands of rocket attacks without
replying; 2. Gaza is occupied by Israel; and 3. The conduct of Hamas and other
Palestinian terrorist groups were not important or relevant to the
investigation.
The Goldstone Report has been
condemned by Israeli President Shimon Peres in these terms: “The report gives de
facto legitimacy to terrorist initiatives and ignores the obligation and right
of every country to defend itself, as the UN itself had clearly stated … [It]
failed to supply any other way for Hamas fire to stop … “The Israeli government
withdrew (from Gaza) and Hamas began a murderous rampage, firing thousands of
shells on women and children – innocent civilians, instead of rebuilding Gaza
and caring for the population’s welfare. [Hamas] builds tunnels and used
civilians and children to shield terrorists and hide weapons.”
Former Israeli Justice Minister
Daniel Friedmann also criticized the report, saying “it is a political report
disguised in a legal cloak, but it is legally unfounded. What this report really
means is that Israel is the only country in the world which is not allowed to
defend itself against acts of terror. Israel is the most threatened nation in
the world and yet it makes the most effort to avoid harming innocent lives. “Any
comparison of Israel’s fight on terror with recent conflicts in Kosovo, Iraq,
Afghanistan, Pakistan etc. immediately shows that Israel holds itself to thehighest ethical standard(Roni SoferPeres: Goldstone

Some
examples of bias and inaccuracy in the Goldstone Report:<
The very title of the Report - ‘Human Rights in
Palestine and Other Occupied Arab Territories: Report of the United Nations Fact
Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict’ – contains a falsehood – namely, that Gaza
is “occupied” by Israel when, under Article 6 of the Fourth Geneva Convention on the
Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, a foreign power is only
considered an occupier “to the extent that such Power exercises the functions of
government in such territory” – something Israel has not done since 2005. (At
the time of the Gaza operation, the ZOA’s Michael Goldblatt and Daniel Mandel
published this op-ed,
describing in detail the falsity and absurdity of the claim that Israel is the
occupying power in Gaza).
The evidentiary basis for much of
the Report came from organizations like B’Tselem, the
Palestinian
Center for Human RightsAl-Haq and Human Rights Watch, all
of which have a record of recycling unsubstantiated Palestinian testimony as
fact. Para. 30 of the Report claims that “The data provided
by non-governmental sources with regard to the percentage of civilians among
those killed are generally consistent and raise very serious concerns with
regard to the way Israel conducted the military operations in Gaza.’ Yet, as
British journalist Melanie Philips points out, Israel provided a detailed
breakdown of the Palestinians killed in Gaza and stated that the vast majority
of these were Hamas or other terror operatives. Even the UN eventually
acknowledged that some 75% of the dead in Gaza were Hamas terrorists.

Para. 495 of the Report ignores
evidence that contradicts Goldstone’s predetermined
conclusions: “Although the situations investigated by
the Mission did not establish the use of mosques for military purposes or to
shield military activities, the Mission cannot exclude that this might have
occurred in other cases.” In fact, the evidence of many examples of the routine
use of human shields by Hamas during the Gaza hostilities can be found at

Paras. 33-34 of the Report rejects the fact that
Gaza police targeted by Israeli military strikes were “part of the terrorist
infrastructure” and that therefore the attacks on police buildings were
unlawful. This has been substantively rebutted by Jonathan Halevi forted for the
Jerusalem Centre for Public Affairs, who notes that among the 343 members of the
Palestinian security forces who were killed, 286 have been identified as terror
organization members (83 percent), while another 27 belonged to units undergoing
infantry training raises this total to 313 (91 percent). Goldstone even admits
that “there may be individual members of the Gaza police that were at the same
time members of Palestinian armed groups and thus combatants” but he continues
to treat them as civilians and thus protected
persons.
In Para. 688, the Report questions the accuracy of
Israel’s response to the mortar shelling of al-Fakhura junction in Jabalya next
to an UNRWA school, an incident in which Israel was at the time blamed for
shelling the school itself, killing more than 40 civilians sheltering there. In
fact, Israel had not shelled the school at all, but had returned mortar fire at
the street next to the school from where firing was still continuing, killing
some terrorists and a smaller number of civilians standing near a Hamas mortar
position. As Melanie Philips writes, “So the fact that Israel was the victim of
an incendiary libel by the UN, which said falsely that its school had been hit
and inflated the number of casualties -- a lie that went round the world
inciting hysteria and violence against Israel and Jews -- is totally ignored;
instead Israel is pilloried for its (undoubtedly) chaotic response as it
gradually pieced together what had actually
happened.”

We write you today with a heavy heart to respond to the appalling and disappointing Goldstone Report by the Gaza Fact-Finding Mission of the United Nation’s Human Rights Council.
This Report, which completely ignores Israel’s right-of-self-defense, makes unsubstantiated claims about its intent and challenges Israeli’s democratic values and rule of law.
The report all but ignores the deliberate strategy of the Hamas to use “human shields” to operate within and behind civilian population and turning densely populated areas into an arena of battle. By turning a blind eye to such tactics this report is effectively rewarding Hamas.
The Goldstone Report barely disguises its goal of instigating a political campaign against Israel, and in its recommendations, seeks to involve the Security Council, the General Assembly, the International Criminal Court, the Human Rights Council, and the entire international community in such a campaign.
In the UK’s Guardian newspaper, with reporting normally critical of Israel, Dan Kosky writes that England and all Western nations face the same problem, “…these are the same battle dilemmas facing UK and US armies in foreign fields.” Kosky states that the Goldstone Report “pays lip service to the complexities of asymmetric warfare, preferring the easy route of criticism. Rather than advise how to better stop groups such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad who deliberately target civilians, Goldstone opts for straightforward denunciation of Israel.”
We ask you, our friends and colleagues to please take a few minutes to read the below reasons for which we see the Goldstone Report as biased and lacking in moral authority.

The Mandate of the Mission:
The one-sided mandate of the Gaza Fact-Finding Mission, and the resolution that established it, gave serious reasons for concern both to Israel and to the many states on the Council which refused to support it - including the member states of the European Union, Switzerland, Canada, Korea and Japan.
It also troubled many distinguished individuals, including former High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson, who refused invitations to head the Mission and admitted that it was "guided not by human rights but by politics".
The Conduct of the Mission:
These concerns were exacerbated by the conduct of the Mission itself, including reports in the Palestinian media that, throughout its visits to Gaza, it was continuously accompanied by Hamas officials, and its refusal to recuse members of the mission with clear political views on the issues under investigation. One mission member signed a letter to the Sunday Times saying that Israel's actions against Hamas attacks were acts of "aggression not self-defense", prejudging the investigation before it had even begun.
The unprecedented holding of telecast hearings also gave cause for concern. The fact that all the witnesses were prescreened and selected, and none were asked questions relating to any Palestinian terrorist activity or the location of weaponry and terrorists in civilian areas only supports concerns that they were part of an orchestrated political campaign.
A "non-judicial" document
Justice Goldstone as Head of the Mission repeatedly insisted that the Mission was not a judicial inquiry and so "could not reach judicial conclusions". On this basis he justified the inclusion of partisan mission members, admitting that their involvement "would not be appropriate for a judicial inquiry". The Report, however, is highly judicial in nature, reaching conclusive judicial determinations of guilt, and including 'detailed legal findings' even in the absence of the sensitive intelligence information which Israel did not feel able to provide. These determinations are made notwithstanding the Report's admission that it does not "pretend to reach the standard of proof applicable in criminal trials".
Elements Ignored by the Report:
The Report all but ignores the deliberate terrorist strategy of operating in the heart of densely populated civilian areas which dictated the arena of battle. Even when the Hamas terrorists mixed among civilians, the Report rejects the notion that there was an intention to put the civilian population at risk.
Astonishingly, despite the many widely reported instances in the international press of the abuse of civilian facilities by terrorist groups, and the statements of Hamas own leaders praising women and children who acted as human shields, the Report repeatedly stated that it could find no evidence of such activities. This, despite its admission that those interviewed were "reluctant to speak about the presence or conduct of hostilities by the Palestinian armed groups".
The Report also ignores Israel's extensive efforts, even in the midst of fighting, to maintain humanitarian standards. While it does, reluctantly, acknowledge Israel's "significant efforts" to issue warnings before attacks, it does not find any of these efforts to be effective
While the Report passes judgment against Israel in respect of almost any allegation, it seeks to absolve the Hamas of almost any wrongdoing. The word "terrorist" is almost entirely absent. Soldier Gilad Shalit, now held incommunicado in captivity for over three years, was "captured during an enemy incursion" and the Hamas members that the Mission met with in Gaza are thanked as the "Gaza authorities" for extending their full cooperation and support to the Mission.
Even the thousands of rocket attacks against Israelis which necessitated the Gaza Operation are given the most cursory treatment and, indeed, the Report indirectly blames Israel even for these by terming them "reprisals".
Rejection of democratic values:
In a Report which relies so heavily on Israeli human rights organizations and which also petitions on sensitive security issues to Israel's Supreme Court, the Report devotes considerable attention to "repression of dissent in Israel". It bases this assertion in large part on the widespread support for the military operation in the Israeli public, assuming that Israel has "created a political climate in which dissent is not tolerated." The notion that the majority of Israelis genuinely supported action to bring years of continuous rocket and missile attacks against Israeli civilians to an end does not appear to have occurred to the members of the Mission.
The Report is also critical of Israeli internal investigations, even though these compare favorably to investigations of allegations in military matters in most western countries, and have regularly resulted in criminal investigations and convictions.
Recommendations:
The Report's recommendations are as one-sided as its findings. It seeks to harness the Human Rights Council, the Security Council, the General Assembly, the Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights, the International Criminal Court and the international community as part of its hostile political campaign.
Despite token recommendations in respect of the Palestinian side, international pressure is directed solely against Israel.
The true test of such a Report can only be whether in future conflicts it will have the effect of increasing or decreasing respect for the rule of law. Regrettably a one-sided report of this nature, claiming to represent international law, can only weaken the standing of law in future conflicts. At the same time, it will broadcast a deeply troubling message to terrorist groups wherever they are that the cynical tactics of seeking to exploit civilian suffering for political ends actually pays dividends.
I thank you for taking the time to understand what we perceive as a grievous act against the state of Israel.
The Goldstone Report – A Study in Bias
Israel is appalled and disappointed by the report published on 15 September 2009 by the United Nations Human Rights Council's Gaza Fact Finding Mission. The Report unfairly describes Israel's defense of its citizens as war crimes, while ignoring the deliberate strategy of Hamas to operate from within or behind the civilian population.
By casting doubts over Israel's basic motivation for launching its operation against the Hamas, the report dismisses the eight-year-long barrage of 12,000 rockets endured by Israel's civilians, and questions Israel's basic right to protect its citizens. Indeed, the Report blames Israel for even being rocketed, by terming the attacks as 'reprisals'.
As sobering as the thought may be, if I were a terrorist, I would welcome this
Report. It has made a terrorist's work a lot easier, and has made the work of his potential victims a lot more difficult.
Consequently, the message broadcast by this Report to the new world order is - "terrorism pays".
Israel was not, however, surprised. The Goldstone Report is - more than anything else - a political statement, rather than a legal analysis.
This outrageous report was produced by the UN's new Human Rights Council, a body whose obsession with Israel has led it to produce more resolutions condemning Israel than those referring to all other countries combined!
When a UN organ that is mandated to deal with human rights issues throughout the globe, dedicates more time to Israel than all other trouble-spots put together, this is can be nothing other than an agenda set by political and non-professional motives.
In its blind zeal to demonize Israel, the HRC has gone as far as to produce a document that undermines every other democracy that is struggling to defend itself against terrorist attack.
But what else can be expected from a body whose membership includes such renown guardians of human rights as Cuba, Saudi Arabia, Nicaragua and Pakistan, Qatar, to name but a few.
And it should come as no surprise that the mandate designed by the HRC for the Goldstone mission was also one-sided and prejudicial. In it, the HRC "strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli military operation … which has resulted in massive violations of the human rights", and dispatched "a fact finding mission to investigate all violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law by the occupying Power, Israel, against the Palestinian people". Besides making no mention whatsoever of possible Palestinian violations, it first established Israel's guilt, and then sent Goldstone to gather up some evidence. As the Queen said to Alice: "Verdict first, evidence later".
Israel can at least take comfort in the fact that the democratic minority of HRC members - states such as Switzerland, Canada, Korea, Japan, France, the UK, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and other EU members - refused to support the politically motivated resolution establishing the Mission.
Also telling is the fact that many distinguished human rights leaders, including Mary Robinson, refused to lead the Mission, because it was, in her words "guided not by human rights but by politics".
The four members appointed by the HRC to take part in the Mission are on record declaring their opinion that Israel is guilty, even before they were chosen. This is most glaringly seen in the two letters published by Mission member Christine Chinkin, even as the fighting in Gaza was raging. In them, she accused Israel of “repeated breaches of international human rights" and declared that "Israel's bombardment of Gaza is not self-defence - it's a war crime."
The methodology of the Mission was no less biased. The unprecedented holding of live telecast hearings demonstrated that political considerations overruled legal prudence. The Mission ignored the fact that any Palestinian living in Gaza would never dare mention a word against the Hamas in such testimony, for fear of his life. The fact that all the witnesses were prescreened and selected, and none were asked obvious questions relating to any Palestinian terrorist activity or the location of weaponry and terrorists in civilian areas only supports concerns that they were part of an orchestrated political campaign.
The course of the questioning was similarly stilted. For example, when hearing Palestinian witnesses, the Mission forgot to ask the most basic questions, such as "Why do you say the victims of the Israeli strikes you witnessed were "innocent non-combatants" while official Gaza announcements praised them as members of Hamas combat units killed in action?!"
In light of the above, the Report's attempt to present Israel's internationally respected justice system as unable to examine the actions of its own military is not only ignorant of the facts, but also highly insulting to the citizens of the only truly democratic state in the Middle East.
To date, Israel has opened investigations into over 100 allegations regarding the conduct of its forces during the Gaza Operation. While most of these investigations were closed because the allegations were found to be baseless, 23 criminal investigations were indeed initiated and are still under way.
Tragically, as a result of this report, terrorists throughout the world are now strengthened in their belief that a law abiding democratic state can be 'handcuffed' by the Human Rights Council, and be prevented from carrying out appropriate and necessary actions to protect its own citizens.
This then would be the appropriate time to clarify the issue, and provide support for democratic states legally engaging in self-defense against terrorist entities. Israel has the right and the obligation to protect its citizens, and will continue to do so, while fully respecting international law.

SEATTLE - Police are investigating after swastikas were spray-painted overnight
on two synagogues and outside private homes in the Brighton
neighborhood.
Officers said swastikas were found on a synagogue in the
6500 block of 52nd Avenue South and another in the 5100 block of South Morgan
Street, both near Seward Park. A swastika also was painted on the driveway of
one synagogue.

A local district court in the West German city of Bochum fined a student 300
Euros on Wednesday for displaying an Israel flag at a demonstration organized by
Muslim organizations against the IDF Operation Cast Lead in January. According
to Der Westen, a regional paper in Bochum, the public prosecutor termed
the Israeli flag as "provoking" within a special situation.
An anti-Israel protest

The 30-year-old student, who spoke on
condition of anonymity because she fears for her safety due to "massive problems
with Nazis", told The Jerusalem Post on Wednesday that the "Israeli flag
is a provocation for the anti-Semites." She asked rhetorically, "What is
provocative about an Israel flag?" The public prosecutor in Bochum was not
available for an immediate comment on the case. According to Der
Westen, the local district court judge deemed the protest of the five
activists expressing solidarity with Israel as a "dangerous situation." A
spokesman for the district court, Volker Talarowski, told the Post that
there was a "violation of the right to assembly" and the court's decision was
issued "independent of a political motivation." Talarowski added that the
pro-Israel demonstrators failed to register their protest 48 hours before the
event. Yet the student, who is appealing the fine, said a special regulation
permits "spontaneous" demonstrations without a pre-registration. In response to
a hardcore anti-Israeli demonstration in Bochum attended by 1,600 protesters on
January 17, the student, along with four pro-Israeli activists, displayed a
banner stating "Against anti-Semitism and fascism: Solidarity with Israel" as
well as the Israel flag. She told the Post that pro-Palestinian
supporters "compared Israel with Nazi Germany." Chants of "children murderer
Israel" and "Israel terrorist" filled the protest as well as a banner reading
"stop the Holocaust in Gaza." "There is no basis" to draw a parallel between
Nazi Germany and Israel, she said. "A Holocaust did not take place in Gaza.
Israel defended its territory from rocket fire" emanating from Hamas, added the
student. She termed the argument comparing the Israeli military operation in
Gaza with the Holocaust as anti-Semitic.
In the Der Westen news report, the student said there
is a "confusion of perpetrator and victim. You can only call that
anti-Semitism." She told the Post that the protestors in Bochum
designated Israelis as Nazis and the Palestinians in Gaza as Jews during the
Third Reich.
During Operation Cast Lead over 100,000 mainly
German Muslims protested across German cities and frequently compared Israel
with the Hitler movement. The European Union's working definition of
anti-Semitism defines such comparisons between the Nazis and the Jewish state as
a modern manifestation of anti-Semitism, largely because the parallel
delegitimizes Israel's right to exist.
As with all Jewish blood libels, just say it and the Jew haters of the world come to life. It's their raison d'être. This kind of jew hatred softens up the population for the worst kind of visceral reaction. The rampant anti-semitism going global is the second phase of a promised second holocaust.
Despite Israel's
explosive reaction to its first story that alleged soldiers had "harvested"
organs from Palestinian detainees, a leading Swedish tabloid ran a second
article in its Sunday edition.
The Swedish daily Aftonbladet made
similarly bizarre accusations in its follow-up story, quoting family members who
claimed a 19-year-old Palestinian's organs were removed from his body following
the teen's death in 1992.

There
are two Marc Garlascos on the Internet. One is a top human rights
investigator who, having joined Human Rights Watch after several years
with the Pentagon, has become known for his shrill attacks on Israel.
The other is a Marc Garlasco who's obsessed with the color and
pageantry of Nazism, has published a detailed 430 page book on Nazi war
paraphernalia, and participates in forums for Nazi souvenir collectors.
Both
Marc Garlascos were born on September 4, 1970. Both have Ernst as their
middle name. Both live in New York, NY. Both have a maternal
grandfather who fought for the Nazis. I've put links and screenshots on
all this after the jump, and you can click through for full-sized
versions. It's hard to escape the conclusion that both Marc Garlascos
are the same person.
Bloggers and activists concerned about
Israel have been baffled and frustrated by the first Garlasco almost
since he joined HRW. On his public photography site he posts gratuitous
Palestinian and Lebanese death porn in between galleries of cute
Western-looking kids playing soccer (no link - keeping his kids out of
it). He provides a seemingly never-ending stream of interviews to all
kinds of outlets, where he spins tales about ostensible Israeli
atrocities. The only problem is that many of these tales - per Soccer
Dad and IsraPundit and Elder of Ziyon and NGO Monitor and CAMERA and
LGF - are biased and inaccurate. That doesn't stop Garlasco from
putting them into the kind of HRW reports that make their way into
international anti-Israel condemnations and academic anti-Israel
dissertations.
Then there's the second Marc Garlasco, who I
caught wind of from Elder of Ziyon. Elder had just finished tearing
apart another one of HRW Garlasco's anti-Israel reports when he found
the Amazon profile of collector Garlasco. This Garlasco's Amazon book
reviews show a nearly obsessive knowledge of Nazi-era Luftwaffe Flak
and Army Flak. A little more searching revealed that he's written a
gigantic book on the subject that retails for over $100. He regularly
participates in forums about Nazi medals under the handle Flak 88,
where he posts galleries of his prizes and admires what others have
managed to collect. On those forums he uses the email
marc@garlasco.com, which points to a family genealogy site he set up in
2002.
If both Garlascos are the same, Human Rights Watch almost
certainly knows about his creepy hobby. It took me less than an hour on
Google to confirm Elder's hunch to my satisfaction, and not much longer
to lock the whole thing down. There's even an Amazon widget displaying
Garlasco's book at the bottom of his Huffington Post article, though
that may be automatically generated. The book might even be listed on
his CV because, after all, none of this is illegal. Just potentially
unseemly.
The collector Marc Garlasco certainly doesn't keep his
day job secret from his fellow memorabilia collectors. There are at
least two public references to his life as an HRW investigator on the
forums. In one thread he posts dozens upon dozens of pictures from his
collection at the end of 2007, which he describes as having been a
"very lucky" year. A friend responds "Jeez Louise!! I had no idea HRW
paid the big bucks!!" In another thread he comments on a badge and
gushes "I would kill for that - WOW!" A friend responds "now now, HRW
boy, don't go overboard!"
So we have to assume he's not leading
a double life and that his employers know about his extracurriculars.
If so we can also safely assume they've investigated the numerous
demonstrable errors in his anti-Israel writeups. They presumably
concluded that his apologism for antisemitic genocidal Hamas lunatics
is unrelated to his obsession with antisemitic genocidal Nazi lunatics.
That would be interesting to hear.
If Garlasco has been less
than forthright about what he does in his off-time - and if HRW hasn't
taken an hour to Google him and figure it out for themselves - that
would be interesting in a different way.
Either way, someone
needs to explain why he keeps getting sent to the Middle East to write
debunked report after debunked report, lest people suspect that he has
an unseemly motive for his consistently anti-Israel errors.

Hi Pamela. I browsed through a heavily biased and slanted Wiki article
yesterday (8/31) dealing with the Second Lebanon War. Israeli achievements were
discounted while reversals were highlighted. The converse was true for
Hezbollah. I decided to edit the article and bring some balance into the
picture. Being a novice to Wiki, I taught myself some of the basics. I then
thoroughly researched the issues, cross-referenced them, sourced and at times,
double sourced my edits.
I uploaded the edits only to find them deleted minutes later. I then
received a message from a "site administrator" going by the username "Fayssalf."
He claimed that my edits were not neutral and proceeded to delete them. I went
on to his page only to discover that he is an Arab. More importantly, my edits
were not biased and were heavily sourced. In addition, a reader can take the
information at face value and determine its veracity based on the source. Thus
if the reader deems the source to be unreliable or biased the reader may
discount the information. By unilaterally deleting my edits, the site
administrator is substituting the reader's judgment with his own and this is
censorship in its worst form.
I have enclose the edits and you can judge for yourself.
The first two paragraphs dealt with background to the war and were inserted
in the "Background" paragraph of the article. The last four paragraphs dealt
with post war events and were inserted in the "Post War Events" section of the
article. the numbers are where I inserted footnotes and sources.
Any assistance you can extend to reverse this bias/censorship would be
appreciated.
In late June of 2005 an IDF paratroop unit operating near Shaba Farms
detected and engaged a three-man Hezbollah squad that had infiltrated the area.
In the day long chase that followed, the IDF force succeeded in killing the
squad’s commander while his two comrades fled back across the border. A
videotape captured by the paratroopers contained evidence that left little doubt
of Hezbollah’s intention to abduct soldiers. [44]
The following 12 months witnessed three more attempts by Hezbollah to
abduct soldiers. All of these were thwarted by the IDF. The most audacious
attempt occurred on November 21, 2005 when dozens of heavily armed Hezbollah
special forces, under cover of mortar and rocket fire, crossed the border on
foot, motorcycles and ATVs and stormed an Israeli outpost at Kafr Rajar. The
outpost however was empty and the Hezbollah force fell victim to an Israeli
ambush. A lone Israeli marksman, Cpl. David Markowitz succeeded in killing four
guerillas. The remaining force retreated back to their positions in Lebanon,
leaving much of their equipment behind. [45]
On February 12, 2008 a car bomb in Damascus killed Imad Mugniyah, the
head of Hezbollah’s military wing. As its chief military strategist, Mugniyah’s
assassination dealt the organization a severe blow. [280]
According to Israeli intelligence sources, someone had replaced the headrest of
the driver’s seat with another containing a small high explosive charge. [281]
Israel considered Mugniyah a “significant force behind actions against Israel”
and connected him to the kidnapping of the two reservist soldiers. [282]
On July 14, 2009 an underground Hezbollah ammunition depot set off a
massive series of explosions in the South Lebanese village of Khirbat Silim,
just ten miles north of the Israeli-Lebanese border. Hezbollah, embarrassed by
the incident and its apparent violation of UN Security Counsel Resolution 1701,
blamed the explosion on, “leftover shells that had been collected during and
after Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon,” in 2000.[283]
However, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations,
Alain LeRoy, placed the blame squarely on Hezbollah and blamed the organization
for heightened tensions in Southern Lebanon.[284]
On July 15, 2009 an Iranian Tupolev commercial airliner crashed in
northwest Iran. The Italian newspaper, Corriere della Sera, reported that the

The last four paragraphs dealt specifically with post war events and there
is a section in the Wiki article that specifically addresses this topic.
Therefore, all these post war edits/additions were very relevant.
Paragraph 3: He objected to the use of a Blog as a source. That was one
of three sources used in that paragraph.
Paragraph 4: He objected to the use of the words "embarassed" and

The head of the Israeli Government Press Office, Daniel Seaman, said on
Sunday he would not give accreditation to two of the newspaper's
reporters."We are not obliged to accredit them. It will take time. We have to conduct verifications, maybe to examine their blood type to know whether they can be organ donors," Seaman, known for controversial statements, told army radio.
Israel's ambassador to Sweden has been summoned by Sweden's foreign office to
discuss the diplomatic discord following an article in a national newspaper
claiming Israeli soldiers harvest the organs of dead Palestinians. The
diplomatic spat has its source in the decision by the Aftonbladet
newspaper to publish the article which details allegations of the systematic
harvesting of the organs of Palestinian men. The Israeli foreign minister
Avigdor Lieberman compared the allegations to old antisemitic lies. "It is
regrettable that the Swedish foreign ministry does not intervene when it comes
to a blood libel against Jews, which reminds one of Sweden's conduct during
World War II when it also did not intervene," an Israeli government statement
quoted Lieberman as saying.
Sweden's foreign minister Carl
Bildt has rejected calls from Israel for the government to distance itself
from the newspaper article. Writing on his blog,
Bildt argues that Sweden's free press and tradition of free speech are the best
defense against "breaches of judgment, bad taste and transgressions of core
societal values." "There are calls from some quarters in Israel that we in some
way or another should take an official position to distance ourselves from this
article or even to intervene to prevent such an article being published," Bildt
states. "But our country does not work that way - and neither should it." The
foreign minister concludes by defending the importance of protecting free
speech.
The fact that the anti-Israeli and anti-American writer Helle
Klein, for many years the political editor of Aftonbladet, at her blog
also speaks warmly of "free speech" is such an extreme case of hypocrisy that it
simply cannot go unanswered. Free speech does not exist in Sweden. Although some
countries such as Britain and Belgium are trying hard to claim the title, I
would personally rate Sweden as being probably the most totalitarian and
politically repressive country in the entire Western world as of 2009, and
Aftonbladet has made substantial contributions to this repressive
climate. Sweden has huge problems caused by mass immigration, and Muslim
immigration in particular, but speaking honestly about this is absolutely taboo
among the mainstream media. According to journalist Karen Jespersen,
Helle Klein has stated that "If the debate is [about] that there are problems
caused by refugees and immigrants, we don't want it." Opinion polls have
revealed that two out of three Swedes doubt whether Islam can be combined with
Swedish society, yet not one party represented in parliament has been genuinely
critical of the immigration policies, and there is virtually no real debate
about Multiculturalism and Islam.
As I have stated in my essay Why Europeans Should Support
Israel, the demonization of Israel should be rejected not just because
of Israel, but because of Europe. The very same people who are demonizing
Israelis are also demonizing native Europeans who resist the Islamization of
their lands and the state-sponsored colonization of their countries by alien
peoples. The truth is that Israelis defend themselves so that their daughters do
not have to suffer rape at the hands of Muslim Jihadists, the way the
authorities in Western European countries, and in Sweden in particular, allow to
happen every single day. Here are a few relevant quotes from the chapter The

Aftonbladet, Helle Klein and Carl Bildt and challenge them with the

The Swedish organization
Expo has demonstrated a willingness to “share information” with radical groups
of “anti-Fascists” in Antifascistisk Action (AFA). The thugs of AFA in the
spring of 2008 destroyed
the car of an elderly woman and wrote “nasse“ (Nazi) on top of it. As it
turned out, they picked the wrong car. Yet years of such attacks against private
citizens have not prompted the authorities to crack down on their
activities.
Leading newspaper Aftonbladet has close ideological
ties to the Social Democrats, the country’s dominant party for most of the past
century. Helle Klein, its political editor-in-chief from 2001 to 2007, during a
demonstration organized by Islamic and anti-racist organizations in December
2006 stood in front of a banner which read “A Sweden for all - Stop the Nazi
violence“ and held a speech warning against Islamophobia in the media. Klein
has voiced sympathy for terrorist organization Hamas
in her editorials while warning against the threat posed to world peace by
Israeli aggression and the Christian Right in the USA.
Hamas is a Fascist organization openly calling for mass murder of Jews. Violent
attacks against Jews in Europe in 2008 are to an overwhelming degree caused by
Muslim immigration, which is encouraged by the EU and the national political
elites. The irony of warning against “Nazi violence” while showing sympathy for
an organization that wants to finish what the Nazis started apparently doesn’t
strike Ms. Klein.
One of Klein’s fellow columnists at Aftonbladet,
the long-time Communist Robert Aschberg, is the publisher of Expo
magazine. Leading Expo member Charles Westin in October 2007 published the book
Brunt! (“brown,” as in “Fascist”), where he let members of AFA contribute
some of their intelligence regarding “right-wing extremists,” among them people
associated with the legal party the Sweden Democrats. In addition to Mr. Westin,
the book was co-authored by Mats Deland, who is a journalist in
Aftonbladet. Why is it considered OK that a representative of one of
Scandinavia’s largest newspapers, with ties to the country’s largest political
party, thus associates himself openly with an organization known for physically
assaulting members of a legal opposition party, even in their private
homes?
Before the elections in 2006, the established parties cooperated
in boycotting the Sweden Democrats and other “xenophobic” parties. In one of
many similar incidents, which extreme Leftists bragged about on the Internet,
around 30 members of the SD were attacked during a peaceful, private party
outside the town of Växjö. The brave “anti-Fascists” threw tear gas into the
building, forcing people outside where they were beaten with iron bars and axes.
Open, aggressive and sometimes violent harassment of critics of the country’s
immigration policies has been going on for years while the authorities have
largely turned a blind eye to the problem. Seemingly encouraged by the silence
from the establishment to political violence, extreme Leftists have stepped up
their attacks to include mainstream parties. Sweden
is witnessing the greatest explosion of street violence in its history, and a
woman is raped every two hours. Expo, which is backed by the media and the major
parties, has been campaigning against the Sweden Democrats for years. Daniel
Poohl from the unelected organization Expo states that it’s “not undemocratic”
to deny the SD access to political influence.
According to Jonathan
Friedman, an American Jew working in Sweden for years, “no debate about
immigration policies is possible, the subject is simply avoided. Sweden has such
a close connection between the various powerful groups, politicians,
journalists, etc. The political class is closed, isolated.” The elites are
worried to see their power slip away and therefore want to silence critics, for
instance the Sweden Democrats, a small party opposed to immigration: “It is a
completely legal party, they just aren’t allowed to speak.…In reality, the basis
of democracy has been completely turned on its head. It is said: ‘Democracy is a
certain way of thinking, a specific set of opinions, and if you do not share
them, then you aren’t democratic, and then we condemn you and you ought to be
eliminated. The People? That is not democratic. We the Elite, we are democracy.’
It is grotesque and it certainly has nothing to do with democracy, more like a
kind of moral dictatorship.”
As Bruce Bawer writes in the article While Sweden
Slept: “Sweden Democrats have been the targets of events that recall
China’s Cultural Revolution. Staged ‘people’s protests’ by members of the ‘youth
divisions’ of other parties have led to the firing of Sweden Democrats from
their jobs. A few weeks ago, a junior diplomat was dismissed when it became
known that he was a member of the party and had criticized his country’s
immigration policy. On several occasions, thugs loyal to the ruling parties have
broken up SD meetings and beaten up party leaders.”

Two brothers were busted Friday in the brutal slaying and robbery of a
90-year-old Auschwitz
survivor in his East Side apartment.
Aljulah Cutts, 27,
accompanied the accused killer into the home of Felix Brinkmann
before the victim was strangled on July 29, law enforcement sources said.
His brother, Hasib Cutts, 30, waited
downstairs in the getaway car, the sources said. The elder brother has a rap
sheet with 40 prior arrests, with a mix of charges for criminal possession of
stolen property, petty theft and assault.
Brinkmann's doorman identified Aljulah Cutts as the man who went upstairs
into Brinkmann's apartment with Angela Murray, the
sources said.
Murray, 30, was charged with murder and robbery for killing Brinkmann in his
fourth-floor apartment. She and a man were later captured on videotape using one
of the victim's credit cards, police said.
Police said Brinkmann was bound, beaten and choked after he refused to
surrender the combinations to a pair of safes in his apartment.
The killers lugged one of the safes downstairs. Brinkmann's car was also
stolen and recovered later in the Bronx.

is not an “Agent of Change” and is undeserving of America’s highest

Actually…since 1967 the US Consulate in Jerusalem has been, with full agreement between the Israeli and US governments, the de-facto “embassy” to the Palestinians in the West bank and Gaza. As far as I know the Consul General in Jerusalem and his staff have no direct connection to the US embassy in Tel-Aviv, are not subordinate to the US ambassador to Israel and report directly to Washington. In fact – there are frequent stories of opposing reports or analysis coming to DC from Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv. Israelis do not normally (except in emergencies) receive services at the consulate in Jerusalem. There is a separate consulate office in Tel-Aviv. American citizens can get service in either.
So for all intents and purposes, the US Consulate General in West Jerusalem is officially a separate State Dept delegation representing US interests in another Arab entity (though I think that the Marines who guard both buildings rotate between them). And no – as far as I know there is no other place in the world were this kind of “arrangement” exists.
Logical…no. But this is the Middle East – don’t look for logic!
In my opinion your question, Gail, should not be about the Consulate General, but about why the US has not yet moved its embassy from Tel-Aviv to the Capital of Israel – Jerusalem...despite Congress’s overwhelming and ongoing support for it.

Like Obama, I am a graduate of Harvard Law School. I too have Muslims in my family. I am black, and I was once a leftist Democrat. Since our backgrounds are somewhat similar, I perceive something in Obama’s policy toward Israel which people without that background may not see. All my life I have witnessed a strain of anti-Semitism in the black community. It has been fueled by the rise of the Nation of Islam and Louis Farrakhan, but it predates that organization.
We heard it in Jesse Jackson’s “HYMIE town” remark years ago during his presidential campaign. We heard it most recently in Jeremiah Wright’s remark about “them Jews” not allowing Obama to speak with him. I hear it from my own Muslim family members who see the problem in the Middle East as a “Jew” problem.
Growing up in a small, predominantly black urban community in Pennsylvania, I heard the comments about Jewish shop owners. They were “greedy cheaters” who could not be trusted, according to my family and others in the neighborhood. I was too young to understand what it means to be Jewish, or know that I was hearing anti-Semitism. These people seemed nice enough to me, but others said they were “evil”. Sadly, this bigotry has yet to be eradicated from the black community.
In Chicago, the anti-Jewish sentiment among black people is even more pronounced because of the direct influence of Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam. Most African Americans are not followers of “The Nation”, but many have a quiet respect for its leader because, they say, “he speaks the truth” and “stands up for the black man”. What they mean of course is that he viciously attacks the perceived “enemies” of the black community white people and Jews. Even some self-described Christians buy into his demagoguery.
The question is whether Obama, given his Muslim roots and experience in Farrakhan’s Chicago, shares this antipathy for Israel and Jewish people. Is there any evidence that he does. First, the President was taught for twenty years by a virulent anti-Semite, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. In the black community it is called “sitting under”. You don’t merely attend a church, you “sit under” a Pastor to be taught and mentored by him. Obama “sat under” Wright for a very long time. He was comfortable enough with Farrakhan Wright’s friend to attend and help organize his “Million Man March”. I was on C-Span the morning of the march arguing that we must never legitimize a racist and anti-Semite, no matter what “good” he claims to be doing. Yet a future President was in the crowd giving Farrakhan his enthusiastic support.
The classic left wing view is that Israel is the oppressive occupier, and the Palestinians are Israel’s victims. Obama is clearly sympathetic to this view. In speaking to the “Muslim World,” he did not address the widespread Islamic hatred of Jews. Instead he attacked Israel over the growth of West Bank settlements. Surely he knows that settlements are not the crux of the problem. The absolute refusal of the Palestinians to accept Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state is the insurmountable obstacle. That’s where the pressure needs to be placed, but this President sees it differently. He also made the preposterous comparison of the Holocaust to Palestinian “dislocation”.
Obama clearly has Muslim sensibilities. He sees the world and Israel from a Muslim perspective. His construct of “The Muslim World” is unique in modern diplomacy. It is said that only The Muslim Brotherhood and other radical elements of the religion use that concept. It is a call to unify Muslims around the world. It is rather odd to hear an American President use it. In doing so he reveals more about his thinking than he intends. The dramatic policy reversal of joining the unrelentingly ant-Semitic, anti-Israel and pro-Islamic UN Human Rights Council is in keeping with the President’s truest albeit undeclared sensibilities.
Those who are paying attention and thinking about these issues do not find it unreasonable to consider that President Obama is influenced by a strain of anti-Semitism picked up from the black community, his leftist friends and colleagues, his Muslim associations and his long period of mentorship under Jeremiah Wright. If this conclusion is accurate, Israel has some dark days ahead. For the first time in her history, she may find the President of the United States siding with her enemies. Those who believe as I do that Israel must be protected had better be ready for the fight. We are.

She nails the Fuehrer’s facial expressions with twisted glee, and as

to me that Barr may be the last celebrity utterly incapable of giving a
f**k—a quality theoretically easy to embody until it’s time to face the
practical repercussions. “Franklin Ajae, Paul Mooney, Mort Sahl and
Dick Gregory’s passings will tear my kishkas out,” Barr laments. “They
gave everything they had to just tell the truth, and they couldn’t make
a decent living because of the choice they made—not selling out to
Hollywood.”

We believe that the FBI cabal was lead by former Associate Director
David Szady who had let it be known that the national law enforcement
agency was intent on finding an Israeli mole inside the US government,
based erroneously, as it turned out in the disastrous AIPAC case.
Federal Prosecutors relied heavily on the thin reed of a 90 year
Sedition law, questionable evidentiary standards in filed court motions
and sought a ‘closed court’ proceeding, which ultimately was quashed by
the Richmond Federal Appellate court dismissal rulings. Messrs.
Weissman and Rosen were simply doing what Washington journalists,
including Gertz, have done which is revealing ex parte conversations
with official sources, who don’t want to go on record; i.e., ‘leaking’.
However, the Federal judiciary saw through this blatant attempt by the
FBI and federal prosecutors effectively stopped the failed AIPAC case
in its tracks, relieving former AIPAC seniors officials Weissman and
Rosen from standing trial, and reduced Franklin’s prior sentence under
a plea bargain.
Larry Franklin, the former Pentagon analyst convicted of revealing
classified information, says he worked undercover as an FBI double
agent to gather information on the pro-Israel lobby in the United
States before the bureau turned on him and pressured him to plead
guilty to spying for Israel.
Talking to a U.S. newspaper for the first time since his arrest
five years ago, Franklin told The Washington Times that he wore a
portable recording device for the FBI to capture conversations between
Keith Weissman, a lobbyist for the American Israel Public Affairs
Committee (AIPAC), and Israeli Embassy official Naor Gilon and that he
cooperated on other matters during a 10-week period in 2004.
He said he never sought to spy for Israel and felt betrayed
when the same FBI agents whom he had assisted suddenly told him to get
an attorney and threatened to send him to prison for disclosing
classified information to AIPAC officials and the Israeli Embassy.
A long-running FBI espionage probe of the pro-Israel lobby in Washington
appears to have been motivated in part by anti-Semitism, says a former Pentagon
official who revealed this week he had cooperated for 10 weeks with federal
agents conducting the probe.
Larry Franklin, a former Pentagon analyst who pleaded guilty in 2005 to
revealing classified information to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee
(AIPAC), made the charge in an interview with The Washington Times, his first
conversation with an American newspaper since his arrest five years ago.
Franklin said in that interview that he became disturbed by several
apparently anti-Semitic remarks by his FBI handlers. His cooperation with the
agency, which involved taping his conversations with officials of AIPAC and the
Israeli Embassy, was first reported by the Times on Wednesday.
"One agent said to me, 'How can an Irish Catholic from the Bronx get mixed up
with all these ...,' and I finished the sentence for him: 'Jews?' And I
proceeded to tell him that Christ and all the Apostles and even his mom were
Jewish," Franklin said in the interview.
"So it was that sort of thing. And just sarcastic turns of the phrase from
time to time. You know, I felt dirty sometimes," he said.
FBI Assistant Director John Miller declined to address the charges of
anti-Semitism.
"We have no way to respond to thirdhand characterizations of partial
statements allegedly made by unnamed FBI employees several years ago," Mr.
Miller said. "If Mr. Franklin would like to make a formal complaint about the
conduct of any FBI employee, there is a process to do."
Franklin, a prominent Iran analyst with the Defense Department before his
arrest, said he did not want to tarnish the FBI, and noted that he had come to
know many valorous FBI agents in the process of working with the agency on Iran
issues and other matters.
"But that [anti-Semitism] dimension was part of this investigation and may
have been an initial incitement of this investigation," he said.

In that light,
our organizations are very concerned by the positions your company has taken
with respect to online content that denies the Holocaust.
Holocaust denial is one aspect of antisemitism. So-called science has
been used to deny Jews – and others – the status of human being and today
the Internet is used as a perfect disseminator to perpetuate this hatred,
e.g. by those that see gain in reviving the Nazi-era. Indeed, when President
Obama visited Buchenwald, he condemned the “ignorant and hateful” statements of
Holocaust deniers.
Many European countries that suffered deeply as
a result of the Holocaust have passed legislation condemning racism,
including denial of the crimes of World War II. This is why Facebook has
undertaken to comply with these laws by preventing access to online Holocaust
Denial in those countries. However commendable this is, it is an action
based on fear of litigation. Surely it would be more fully justified and
honorable if Facebook would change its policy and take action against this
harmful content irrespective of country, but based on moral, ethical and
civic grounds.
I hope that you will reconsider Facebook’s position on
this very sensitive issue.

Facebook Launches Massive Attacks Against Anti-Terrorists By Benyamin B.
Last week, three anti-terrorism organizations were targeted in a massive crackdown by Facebook. The organizations - The Anti-Terrorism Coalition (ATC), Facebook-based American Infidel (AI)
and Facebook-based Infidel Forces (IF) - were involved in taking over
Islamic terrorist, pro-terrorist and other hateful groups operating on
the popular networking site.
IF, which was formed
in 2008, had originally been created to counter Facebook's bias against
anti-terrorist, patriotic and other freedom-loving groups and
individuals. While countless terrorist, pro-terrorist and other hateful
groups and users have been allowed to operate freely on Facebook,
friendly users and groups have constantly been banned and shut down,
respectively. Thus, the creators of IF decided to both "level the
playing field" and combat cyber terrorists, at the same time.
By then, Facebook's
blatant bias toward hostile groups and against allied groups was beyond
obvious. David Appletree, the leader of the Jewish Internet Defense Force (JIDF),
was (and still is) getting banned frequently for his group's actions
against hostile groups. The JIDF had been involved in taking over
hostile groups and getting others banned, by having massive numbers of
its users report them to Facebook. In one instance, David Appletree was
banned for being an administrator of a group that was taken over by
Islamic hackers, while no action was taken against the hackers.
This led IF to take
over hostile groups and infiltrate others by sending in operatives
posing as Islamic terrorist sympathizers. The AI, and later, the ATC
both subscribed to IF's effort. Operating in accordance with Facebook's
terms, IF began to join hostile groups left without administrators and
grant themselves administrative powers.
By early this month, the allied effort had managed to take over more
than 150 hostile groups and prevent the hostile takeover of
approximately 15 - 20 friendly groups. Additionally, several friendly
groups that had been taken over by hostiles were "liberated" by the
allies, after they took those groups over themselves.
It was then that
Facebook launched its mass purges against the AI, IF and ATC. In late
June, Facebook sent a warning to IF and AI members for "uploading" a
picture of an Israeli flag, in which the Star of David was replaced
with a swastika, to the group "Stop the israelian Genocide against Ghaza".
Facebook staff also took down the picture. In reality, this group had
actually just been taken over by allied forces and they had not yet had
the chance to change the picture. In fact, the picture had been
uploaded by the group's terrorist and anti-Semitic creators at least
several months ago. Interestingly, during this lengthy period of time,
Facebook did not take any action against the group or its original
administrators.
About a week later, on July 2, Facebook disabled the accounts of two high-ranking AI members (who were also administrators of AI's Facebook group).
Asked to be identified only as Ben and Hodge, the two had been active
supporters of IF's effort and had lent them a hand on several
occasions. Then, on July 5, IF leader Jack Johnson, several other IF
members and ATC member Jack Turner were banned by Facebook. This was
followed with the banning of IF's second in command, Mike Jenkins, on
the following day. Facebook also banned every single undercover account
being used by the three allied groups, effectively shutting down all of
their attempts to infiltrate hostile groups.
In the aftermath of
these attacks, almost all the groups controlled by IF and its allies
were left without administrators, and thus, susceptible to hostile
takeover. Within several days, approximately a quarter of all these
groups had fallen back into enemy hands.
In addition, any
threads and posts made on any Facebook groups at all by any of the
banned individuals were automatically deleted when they were banned.
Thus many anti-terrorism groups, in particular, lost an overwhelming
amount of posts and threads. The AI group suffered perhaps the greatest
data loss of them all. This completely hampered the debates,
discussions and the dialogue going on at these groups. One AI member
expressed great dismay that the debates he had been having with a
Muslim individual at the AI group had been deleted, adding that "they
were extremely respectful and informative."
Not one of the
individuals banned has thus far been able to get Facebook to reactivate
their accounts, with a staff member by the name of Lysander explicitly
telling both Ben and Hodge that they had violated Facebook's terms,
that he was not able to "provide further explanation" of their
violations, that their decision to ban them was final and that all of
their subsequent inquiries would be ignored. IF leader Jack Johnson has

To my knowledge, never
before, in the history of Facebook, has such a massive crackdown as
this ever taken place. In fact, few Western companies have been able to
match Facebook in their ultra-Chamberlainian actions. This incident
ranks up there with Yahoo's targeting of the ATC and other allied
websites in June of 2003 and Network Solutions' banning of the website
where Geert Wilders planned to release Fitna in March of 2008.
And while us and our
allies have abided by the law and by Facebook's terms, countless
numbers of Facebook groups and users that in the past and present put
up swastikas, post pictures with the Star of David crossed out, post
pictures of American and other allied flags being burned, call for
violence against non-Muslims, hack into accounts and groups (thus also
breaking the law) and commit other despicable acts are, for the most
part, unmolested by Facebook. In fact, only when friendly groups such
as the JIDF ask massive numbers of their supporters to report
individual hostile groups to Facebook staff does any action get taken
against such groups.
In the meantime, my organization - the ATC - will continue to expose the radical leftist and authoritarian nature of Facebook.

A court in Great Britain has found that a
religious Jewish school engaged in racial discrimination by applying the
traditional definition of who is a Jew as part of its admissions
policy.
Traditionally, whether one is Jewish is determined by maternal lineage. If one's mother is Jewish, one is
Jewish. When the mother is a convert to Judaism, Orthodox Jews consider the
child Jewish only if the conversion was in accordance with Orthodox conversion practices. Among non-Orthodox Jews,
at least in the United States, the test is completely muddled, and among
progressive Reform congregations, the standards for conversion are
quite lenient.
In the case at issue, reported in The Independent, the Orthodox religious school gave
preference in admissions to students who were Jewish using the Orthodox
definition and standards for conversion. The school denied admission to a
student whose mother had converted at a Progressive synagogue. The Court held
that such preferences were discrimination on the basis of race:
In a far-reaching judgment, three judges found the well known JFS
(formerly the Jews' Free School) in Brent, north-west London, racially
discriminated against a 12-year-old boy by denying him a place at the school
because his mother was not a recognised Jew.
The ruling was immediately attacked by the Chief Rabbi,
Jonathan Sachs, who said he supported an appeal to the House of Lords to try to
overturn the judgment so that Jews could "be true to the Jewish faith" by
upholding the existing criteria for membership of the Jewish religion.
JFS argued that its admissions policy giving preference to Jewish children
when the school was oversubscribed was lawful because it was based on religious
and not racial criteria.
But the judges said that "the requirement that if a pupil is to qualify for
admission his mother must be Jewish, whether by descent or by conversion, is a
test of ethnicity which contravenes the Race Relations Act".

FP: You’ve been following the trial of the torture and murder of a young Jewish man, Ilan Halimi, in >. Tell us about the case and the trial./span>
Geller: The
death of Ilan Halimi can only be described as an unspeakable horror,
and yet typical of the increasing Islamic Jew-hatred and violence
against the Jews. A group calling itself the Muslim Barbarians targeted
Jewish men for torture and murder. Their first attempts to kidnap a Jew
were unsuccessful, despite the lure of a beautiful girl. Ilan Halimi
was not so lucky. He did not escape the Islamic homemade concentration
camp the Muslim Barbarians had set up.
The
banality of evil lived in that apartment building. Apartment dwellers,
all Muslims, heard Ilan's screams and cries of torture over a period of
three weeks, and yet did not call the cops. The screams must have been
loud because the torture was especially atrocious: the thugs cut bits
of flesh off the young man. They cut his fingers and ears. They burned
him with acid. They poured flammable liquid on him and set him on fire.
Not only did those in the building not go to the police -- they did
nothing at all. Worse, many took part in the tortures.
So systemic is the Jew hatred in France that it impeded rescuing Ilan or securing his release. Halimi's family
said that throughout Ilan's entire captivity, the French police refused
to move on any of the evidence that pointed to an anti-Semitic motive.
Instead, the police conducted a routine kidnap investigation (which
invariably involves ransom, not death). The police refused to
pursue the anti-Semitic motivations of the kidnappers in spite of the
fact that, according to newspaper accounts, "in their e-mail and
telephone communications with Ilan's family, his captors repeatedly
referred to his Judaism, and on at least one occasion recited verses
from the Koran while Ilan was heard screaming in agony in the
background".
The
family begged the police to listen to torturous phone calls from the
kidnappers and acknowledge that Ilan was abducted because he was
Jewish. Clearly, had the police not acted in judeophobic fashion, they
would have recognized that Ilan's life was in terrible danger and taken
urgent action. But law enforcement was not the only guilty party. The
government refused to acknowledge the anti-Semitic motives behind the
torture and killing a full week after the Halimi turned up mutilated

This was not new, of course. In 2003, Sebastian Sellam,
a popular disc jockey at a hot Parisian night club called Queen known
as DJ Lam C (a reverse play on his surname) was on his way to work when
in an underground parking lot, a Muslim neighbor slit Sellam’s throat
twice. His face was completely mutilated with a carving fork. Even his
eyes were gouged out.
It has taken three
years to bring this case to trial and even now, they are hiding their
dirty little secrets behind closed doors.

a shocking display of proud Islamic Jew hatred (consistent with the
most sacred teachings of the Koran), the brutal Halimi murder trial was
suspended after the defendant spewed vile invectives and threw his
"Arab shoes" across the courtroom at the jury. Throwing shoes at
someone is a powerful insult in the Arab world.
According to a prosecution lawyer, Fofana's shoe throwing occurred during the presentation o f evidence by doctors who examined Halimi's body.
It is not clear when the hearing would be resumed.
The trial is being conducted behind closed doors, with no press or
public allowed, at the request of two of the defendants who were minors
at the time of the killing. The trial is closed at the request of
barbarians so evil, so savage that it defies the normal mind. And yet

silence in the media and across the world is a crime against humanity.

Last week, an angry mob broke out in Miranda, Venezuela’s second largest state. Reports indicate that the Mayor of Miranda’s capital city incited an angry group of Chavez supporters to paint Nazi swastikas on the home of an anti-Chavez Jewish politician, Governor Henrique Capriles Radonski. “We are showing Capriles that …people are opposed to his continuous attacks against the initiatives and socialist projects of president Chávez,” explained Los Teques Mayor Alirio Mendoza. Governor Radonski is a charismatic Chavez opponent, and has spent time in jail for a minor role in Venezuela’s failed coup of 2004. Further, since he is perhaps the only well-known Jewish politician in the country, it is easy to understand why he has become a prime target for irate Chavistas.

These incidents follow a trend of anti-Semitic behavior that has strikingly worsened since the beginning of the year. In January 2009, Chavez accused Israel of attempting to carry out “genocide” against the Palestinian people and expelled Israel’s ambassador. Soon thereafter, a pro-Chavez columnist named Emilio Silva posted on a pro-government website urging Venezuelans to “publicly challenge every Jew that you find in the street, shopping center or park, shouting slogans in favor of Palestine and against that abortion: Israel.” A week later, a group of at least a dozen men raided the aforementioned Tiferet Israel Synagogue, vandalizing property and spraying the words ‘Jews, get out!’ on the walls. In February, someone threw a hand grenade at another synagogue, damaging it.
The hand grenade incident jolted world attention, and seemed to have persuaded Chavez to draw back for a time. For a short period, it seemed like there might be some cause for optimism. A month ago, an American resolution calling on Venezuela to “protect the rights of the Jewish Venezuelan community” was withdrawn after several Jewish Congressmen and the American Jewish Congress came out against it. Apparently, those who opposed the resolution feared that such legislation could prove to be counterproductive. In justifying his organization’s opposition to the resolution, Confederation of Israelite Associations Venezuela (CAIV) spokesman David Bittan was quoted as saying that the number of anti-Semitic articles in Venezuelan media decreased by 60% in the weeks after the grenade attack. Yet, this optimism turned out to be slightly misguided. As international pressure dissipated, the regime seems to have resumed its anti-Jewish actions, leading to the mob in Miranda and the vandalism in Caracas.
While most would agree that the rise in anti-Semitism is driven by Chavez’s need to scapegoat a minority group for his own disappointing record of achievement in power, a secondary motive is his desire to ingratiate himself with his most important international ally, Iran. As Forbes’ Venezuelan commentators note in a piece on this topic, “Chavez and Iran speak with one voice about the Jews.” Lacking positive results to show their people, both autocratic regimes benefit from a coordinated effort of propaganda that blames Jews for domestic issues and foments anti-Semitic violence and vandalism.
The United States and Venezuela are to reinstate ambassadors to Caracas and
Washington, setting aside a diplomatic spat that soured ties last year.
Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan president, who had been a fierce critic of
Washington, met Barack Obama, his US counterpart, for the first time at a
Trinidad summit in April.
Chavez said then he hoped to begin a "new era" in relations between the two
countries, which have often feuded over Washington's role in Latin America.

with Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah, the spiritual leader of Hezbollah.
Carter's son, James, accompanied him, and the meeting took place in
Beirut. (Carter was in Lebanon ostensibly as an "impartial" election
monitor and observer. But he was hardly impartial.)

The screams must have been loud because the torture was especially atrocious:
the thugs cut bits off the flesh of the young man, they cut his fingers and
ears, they burned him with acid, and in the end poured flammable liquid on him
and set him on fire.
Horrible
tortures. Horrible torturers. One of the torturers would go to work at a
TV station everyday and come back and partake in the torture. The
girls who lured young men. They knew he had been kidnapped. They knew
Yosef (the leader of the Barbarians) was extremely violent. They knew
Ilan was still in his hands three weeks later. All they had to do was
make an anonymous phone call to the police. No one would have known. They did not do it. No neighbor thought to say to the police that something strange was going on in this building.
The police told the family not to say a word. The Jewish community
was not warned when prior attempts to kidnap Jewish men had failed. The
Jewish community was not warned before the successful attempt.
Even one member of the gang who dropped out of the gang because he was shocked by their violence did not call the police.
These neighborhoods are not ghettos. They are not sordid. Not squalid.
When Ilan was found, the head of the fire department who was called
to the scene, this man with decades of experience, almost fainted when
he saw him. The last thing Youssef Fofana (leader of the murdering
gang, the barbarians) did was to slit Ilan's throat twice and pour an
inflammable liquid on him and try to set it on fire. But this did not burn him to
death, because Ilan walked for perhaps one hour, trying still to find a
way to live.

SUSPECT IN HOLOCAUST MUSEUM SHOOTING WAS ARRESTED WITH GUN. He was wounded by return fire.
Indications show no fatalities. FBI terrorism task force is now on scene. The Obama presidency -- one nightmare after another.
Two rushed to hospital. One in critical condition. The museum was packed when a man walked in, pulled out a rifle and started shooting -- the security guard was shot and another unidentified man was shot.

Witness, young 21 year old woman, said everyone hit the ground. The little girls started crying.
Young man says they heard five shots fired.
Apparently at 12:50 PM, the man with the long gun walked into the Holocaust museum and opened fire on the security guard. FOX news reports:

There is chatter about a "suspicious package". FOX news is talking to a couple who saw the shooter on the ground, but no one dares ask what the shooter looked like.

"No organic growth" is Orwell-speak for telling the Jews that they can't have children, of if they have a child, they have to throw bubbie (Grandma) out. They can live free and unbothered, but Jews cannot live in Muslim lands, and when they do, they live in dhimmitude.

President Obama has delivered a necessary shock to Israel's right-wing government. Will he now compromise?
IN THE WEEKS before President Obama's Cairo address to the Muslim world, his administration opened a striking public breach with the Israeli government of Binyamin Netanyahu. Even aside from any possible usefulness for courting Arab opinion, this was probably necessary. Mr. Netanyahu, who has refused to publicly support Palestinian statehood and insisted that Israeli settlement expansion will continue, was in need of a wake-up call. So the president has said repeatedly that he expects Israel to start moving toward a two-state solution, and he and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton have bluntly insisted that all Israeli settlement activity stop. The medicine has had its effect: Israeli media are full of talk of the "crisis" between Washington and Jerusalem and of the fateful choice that Mr. Netanyahu must make between good relations with Washington and the hard-line ideology of his Likud party.
The question is whether the administration will allow Mr. Netanyahu the room
to side with Mr. Obama, should he choose to do so. According to some officials
in his government, there is much the Israeli leader may be willing to do to mend
the rift. What he almost certainly will not do, however, is abandon the position
of previous Israeli governments -- accepted in practice by both the Bush and
Clinton administrations -- that some "natural growth" must be allowed in
existing settlements.
Mr. Obama's Middle East envoy, George J. Mitchell, first called for an end to
"natural growth" in 2001, when he headed a Middle East commission. Ms. Clinton
publicly committed the Obama administration to the demand in a recent interview
with al-Jazeera, saying "we want to see a stop to settlement construction,
additions, natural growth -- any kind of settlement activity." There are some
good reasons for this position: Previous Israeli governments have violated their
own rules about the limits of "natural growth"; they have also failed to fulfill
repeated promises to dismantle those settlements that Israel itself has deemed
illegal.
What is most revealing in this news report is that despite (relatively) good relations between official/government Egypt and Israel for well over 30 years, the people, the street, the masses continue to despise the Jews. This is a consuming evil. It eats these souls alive to the exclusion of everything else. Everything fails. Their economy, their freedom, their quality of life -- all of it -- everything fails except this all consuming hate. What a tragic waste of humanity.
After the verdict was read in the Cairo courtroom, Nabih al-Wahsh, an
Egyptian attorney, jumped for joy and received an avalanche of telephone calls
from friends congratulating him on his latest legal victory.
Al-Wahsh has managed to extract a ruling from Egypt’s Administrative Court —
which rules in disputes between citizens and the state — that would force the
Egyptian government to strip Egyptians married to Israelis of their Egyptian
citizenship. The May 19 ruling was met with the cheers of millions in this
populous Arab country.

“This is an historic ruling,” al-Wahsh said to reporters after the ruling.
“Egyptians married to Israelis are dangerous to Egypt’s national security,
acting in ways that contradict the constitution of their country and Islamic
laws,” he said.
Calls flooded into TV talk shows discussing the verdict and readers posted
comments on Web sites of newspapers that wrote about it.
Everyone appeared united in elation at the ruling, as well as in hatred of
the Jewish state and everything that related to it, even if it was originally
Egyptian.
“Israel clamors to become an integral part of the Arab world and to do so it
lures Egyptians to get married to its women,” one reader wrote to a local
newspaper, commenting on the ruling.
A second writer warned against Israeli plans to use Egyptians married to
Israelis as spies, while a third said the sons and the daughters of these people
would one day claim property in Egypt, something that would “ease Israel’s
hegemony over Egypt yet again.”
Such sentiments among a large chunk of Egypt’s population of about 80 million
underscores the wide chasm that distinguishes Egypt at the official level and
the same country at the level of its public.
Although Egypt was the first country to sign a peace treaty with Israel,
almost 30 years ago, its government and its people still walk two different
paths.
Egyptian officials visit Israel, meet members of its cabinet and sign
agreements secretly and openly with them, but the people on the street still
view Israel as an “enemy,” “imperialist” in nature, and those Egyptians who
travel and get married there are seen as “traitors.” These same critics have
consistently attempted to abort every possibility of breaking the ice that has
blocked the way between Cairo and Tel Aviv for decades now.
No matter what, Islam hates the Jews. Period.
In this sense, it is true that Egypt is the “heart of the Arab world,” as
President Barack Obama and his advisers like to call it.

Some estimates put the number of Egyptians living in Israel between 6,000 and
7,000, although al-Wahsh believes the number could be between 30,000 and 40,000.
The reason people leave Egypt for Israel is not a secret to the people in
this country, even among decision-makers themselves. In addition to the fallout
from the international economic downturn, which has weighed heavily on the
Egyptian economy, Egypt has been suffering its own economic deterioration for
years.
In this country, which features the oldest civilization in the Arab Middle
East, more than 40 percent of the population lives beneath the poverty line,
according to the World Bank.

Israel, by contrast, is a thriving multiethnic country that enjoys political
pluralism and offers Egyptian job seekers a model totally different from in
their own country, where jobs are rare, diversity is nonexistent and religious
tolerance is scarce.
Part of the antipathy to Israel stems from what Egyptians see on their
national TV and read in their newspapers every day. Israeli attacks against the
Palestinians are fodder for the editors of news bulletins.
A few weeks ago, TV anchor Mahmud Saad, in an on-air telephone interview,
lashed out at Egypt’s Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni, who is seeking election
to the top post of UNESCO, for inviting Daniel Barenboim, a conductor with
Israeli origins and international acclaim, to lead an orchestra at the Egyptian
Opera House.
“I hate Israel,” Saad, who hosts the popular talk show “al-Beit Beitak”
(“Feel at Home”), shouted while speaking with the minister.
Days later, Egypt’s ex-mufti — a top religious leader who advises the
country’s Muslim majority on religious matters — lampooned Arab countries that
sign agreements with Israel in a veiled criticism of the peace treaty between
Egypt and Israel.

“[These marriages] would usher in a new generation of people who would help
Israel implement its imperialistic desires in this region in general and in
Egypt in particular,” said Ibrahim al-Enani, a professor of international law
from Cairo. “This court ruling doesn’t contradictwith either Egypt’s
constitution or international laws,” he added.
Ironically, what might have been missed by the judges who passed the ruling
is that most Egyptians living in Israel are married to Israeli women with Arab
origins. These people speak the same language as the Egyptians and sometimes
also share their same faith.
The constant din of Islamic anti-semitism is nothing new. Dr. Andrew Bostom elaborated on the institutional Islamic Jew hatred in Egypt when Cairo was being discussed as a destination for Obama's bow to the Muslim world:

fact that Cairo, Egypt is being touted as a potential location for this
conciliatory address highlights Mr. Obama's willful blindness to the
pandemic of jihadism, intimately conjoined to annihilationist Islamic
Jew-hatred, afflicting Muslim communities globally, including those

appropriate potential venue for Mr. Obama's pending speech. The capital

US aid per annum. Such American largesse, one could reasonably argue,
should provide Mr. Obama persuasive leverage over our erstwhile Muslim
ally -- for example, demanding, under threat of withdrawing this aid,
that Egypt actively seek out and destroy the smuggling tunnels through
which flow rockets and other munitions from the Sinai peninsula into
Gaza, to be fired by Hamas (and its allied) jihadists upon civilian
population centers in southern Israel.
But apart from
diplomatic threats -- which can be made privately, Mr. Obama should
demonstrate courageous moral leadership in his public address,
demanding an end to the declarations of Jew-hatred, and even calls for
jihad genocide against the Jews, issued regularly by Egyptian clerics,
including authoritative Islamic religious leaders at the renowned Al
Azhar University.
Preaching this sacralized hatred is endemic in Egypt. A front page New York Times story
published January 10, 2009, included extracts from the Friday sermon
(of 1/9/09) at Al Azhar mosque pronounced by Egyptian-government
appointed cleric Sheik Eid Abdel Hamid Youssef. Referencing
well-established (citations provided, below), Sheikh Youssef intoned,
This is the brave new world of Obama? This is the unity and harmony he campaigned on? This is vile and sick, and he is the architect. Remember when Obama's wife Michelle said "for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country”? Well, I can honestly say for the first time in my adult life I am ashamed of my country. Obama should never have sanctioned such evil. Evil is made possible by the sanction you give it. Withdraw your sanction (Ayn Rand).
After Obama's speech in Cairo yesterday, he arranged a roundtable with eight
journalists. Yedioth Ahronoth, an Israeli paper, was invited to send a
correspondent as were several Arab papers. Nahum Barnea reports (translation):
After Obama’s speech yesterday at Cairo University, we gathered, six senior
journalists from all over the Muslim world and I, the reporter for Yedioth
Ahronoth, around a circular table in a side room. The president wanted to give
us an interview.
The original group had eight. The Syrian did not show after hearing that a
reporter from Israel had been invited. The Lebanese, Naoum Sarkis, had been
sitting with us all at the front of the hall but when he realized where I was
from and whom I was representing, he passed on the opportunity and
fled.
Lebanon and Syria, two countries that share a common border with Israel,
respectively act as a state-sponsor and base for terror against Israel. The
reporters from these countries would not even sit in the same room as a Jew --
even after bathing in Obama's healing rhetoric. Other Arab journalists did stay,
including a Palestinian, to hear Obama compare Bibi to Nixon. "Only the
anti-Communist Nixon could have opened the doors to China," Obama said. Of
course, Nixon was also forced to resign.

dhimmi and apologist for Islam) learned that the group would feature a
keynote address by controversial Dutch parliamentarian and filmmaker,
Geert Wilders.

The Israel Government
Tourism Office is withdrawing a series of posters displayed in London Underground stations
featuring a map that treats the occupied territories as part of Israel, after
the advertisements were referred to the Advertising Standards
Authority.
The yellow map makes no distinction between Israel and the Golan Heights, the
West Bank and Gaza.
The Palestinian Solidarity Campaign and Jews for Justice for Palestinians
both complained to the ASA as well as to CBS Outdoor, which is responsible for
the poster sites, and Transport for London (TfL), which said it received more
than 600 complaints.
The poster, which had gone up on 108 sites and was due to go up on another 42
before it was pulled by IGTO, was part of the Think Israel campaign. Last year
the ASA upheld a complaint about a magazine advertisement that was part of the
same campaign because it implied that Qumran was in the state of Israel when in
fact it is in the occupied West Bank. In its judgement, the ASA ruled that the
advert should be withdrawn and said it was "concerned by ThinkIsrael.coms [sic]
lack of response and apparent disregard for the [committee of advertising practice]
code".
An ASA spokesman said it had received 342 complaints about the London
Underground posters and it was currently assessing whether there were grounds
for an investigation. He said the fact that the posters were being withdrawn
would be taken into consideration but did not preclude an investigation.
A TfL spokesman said: "The Israel Ministry of Tourism has requested the
removal of an advert that they had placed at selected stations on the Tube
network." Neither the Israeli embassy in London or IGTO responded to
guardian.co.uk requests for a comment.

The growing, ugly Jew hatred in Europe is analyzed by Israel's modern day Deborah, Caroline Glick. Europe's anti-semitism is not surprising (considering its history), but Israel's sad pursuit of this evil transnational nefarious glob, the EU, is a whole other matter. I understand the whole trade issue, but my G-d man, dignity!
This reminds me of a seminal conversation I had with Caroline last year that I frequently cite, because no one really gets it. She said the Holocaust, while it was a

we really need to do is have a European Union that will obviate our
need for nationalism so that we can become this transnational
gobbletygook and we'll all get together and therefore we won't have
another Auschwitz.
But really the lesson should have been is that we were evil and we have
to be good. And that is the lesson we have to learn and and we have to
be able and willing t0 make moral distinctions and stand up for the
good and fight evil and that is something the Europeans refuse to do."
They are constantly having memorials to dead Jews while condemning
Israel for every act of of self defense, no matter how benign it is, on behalf of innocent Jewish citizens.
Nationalism isn't bad. American nationalism wasn't bad, has never
been bad. British nationalism hasn't been bad. French nationalism isn't
bad. Polish nationalism isn't bed. Czech nationalism wasn't bad.
The thing that was bad was that Germany which decided to embrace
madness and evil as its central unifying characteristic under the
Nazis. That is what the problem was; it was not nationalism per se. And
it's still not nationalism.
They took all the wrong lessons from WW2 and are applying them, while
ignoring the only lesson that's really relevant from WW2 -- which is that
you have to choose good and defend good and fight with the intention of
defeating evil.
SOME HAVE attributed the rise in European anti-Semitism to the rapid growth
of Muslim minorities throughout the continent. This explanation has much to
recommend it. Levels of anti-Semitism among most Muslim minority populations in
Europe are exceedingly high. According to Kaplan and Small's study, European
Muslims are eight times more likely than non-Muslims to be openly anti-Semitic.
And Franco Frattini, the EU official responsible for combating anti-Semitism,
told The Jerusalem Post last year that some 50% of anti-Jewish attacks in
Europe are conducted by Muslims.
But while European Muslims are a major factor in the rise of anti-Jewish
violence, they are a bit player when it comes to the overall prevalence of
anti-Jewish attitudes. For example, with 46% of Spaniards negatively disposed
toward Jews, and with Muslims making up only 3-5% of Spaniards, we learn that
nearly half of Christian Spaniards are anti-Semitic. And as the 2008 Pew survey
shows, European hatred of Jews is growing at a fast clip. Indeed, it is growing
two and a half times faster than European hatred of Muslims.
In all likelihood, these negative trends for Jews are only going to escalate
in the coming years. Politicians interested in being elected have already begun
exploiting the rise in anti-Jewish sentiments to increase their electoral
prospects. In the 2005 British elections, for instance, the Labor Party under
Tony Blair depicted then Conservative Party leader Michael Howard as the hateful
anti-Semitic icon Fagin from Oliver Twist in a campaign poster. Another Labor
poster portrayed Howard and fellow politician Oliver Letwin as flying pigs.
This state of affairs bodes ill for Israel's future relations with Europe. In
most cases, European politicians pander to the growing constituency of
anti-Semites by adopting hostile policies toward Israel. These policies then
serve to further justify anti-Semitic attitudes, and so the number of European
anti-Semites continues to grow, and in turn, European hostility to Israel
increases.
No doubt recognizing the political advantage to be garnered by attacking
Israel, last year Spanish investigative magistrate Judge Fernando Andreu
Merellesis decided to use a specious complaint submitted by the discredited
Palestinian Center for Human Rights to launch a war crimes investigation against
Israel's top political and military leaders. Against the stated will of Spain's
state prosecution, Merellesis announced last week that he is proceeding with his
investigation into claims that a dozen senior Israeli leaders committed a war
crime when they approved the 2002 decision to target Hamas terror master Salah
Shehadeh.
ALL OF this brings us back to Europhilic Israel. Due to the fact that the
majority of Israelis have yet to get their way, and Israel continues not to be a
member in the EU, EU courts lack the power to enforce their rulings against
Israelis. Today the only thing Israelis need to worry about is that we will be
arrested if we visit Europe. This is inconvenient, but not impossible to live
with.
Were Israel to join the EU, however, EU laws would supersede Israeli laws.
European courts could compel Israeli courts to enforce their rulings. Israel, in
short, would find itself subsumed in a hostile political entity that could
simply adjudicate and legislate it out of existence.
