Jewish School Held "Racist" For Preferring Jews Legal Insurrection

A court in Great Britain has found that a religious Jewish school engaged in racial discrimination by applying the traditional definition of who is a Jew as part of its admissions policy.

Traditionally, whether one is Jewish is determined by maternal lineage. If one's mother is Jewish, one is Jewish. When the mother is a convert to Judaism, Orthodox Jews consider the child Jewish only if the conversion was in accordance with Orthodox conversion practices. Among non-Orthodox Jews, at least in the United States, the test is completely muddled, and among progressive Reform congregations, the standards for conversion are quite lenient.

In the case at issue, reported in The Independent, the Orthodox religious school gave preference in admissions to students who were Jewish using the Orthodox definition and standards for conversion. The school denied admission to a student whose mother had converted at a Progressive synagogue. The Court held that such preferences were discrimination on the basis of race:

In a far-reaching judgment, three judges found the well known JFS (formerly the Jews' Free School) in Brent, north-west London, racially discriminated against a 12-year-old boy by denying him a place at the school because his mother was not a recognised Jew.
The ruling was immediately attacked by the Chief Rabbi, Jonathan Sachs, who said he supported an appeal to the House of Lords to try to overturn the judgment so that Jews could "be true to the Jewish faith" by upholding the existing criteria for membership of the Jewish religion.

JFS argued that its admissions policy giving preference to Jewish children when the school was oversubscribed was lawful because it was based on religious and not racial criteria.

But the judges said that "the requirement that if a pupil is to qualify for admission his mother must be Jewish, whether by descent or by conversion, is a test of ethnicity which contravenes the Race Relations Act".

FP: You’ve been following the trial of the torture and murder of a young Jewish man, Ilan Halimi, in >. Tell us about the case and the trial./span>

Geller: The death of Ilan Halimi can only be described as an unspeakable horror, and yet typical of the increasing Islamic Jew-hatred and violence against the Jews. A group calling itself the Muslim Barbarians targeted Jewish men for torture and murder. Their first attempts to kidnap a Jew were unsuccessful, despite the lure of a beautiful girl. Ilan Halimi was not so lucky. He did not escape the Islamic homemade concentration camp the Muslim Barbarians had set up.

The banality of evil lived in that apartment building. Apartment dwellers, all Muslims, heard Ilan's screams and cries of torture over a period of three weeks, and yet did not call the cops. The screams must have been loud because the torture was especially atrocious: the thugs cut bits of flesh off the young man. They cut his fingers and ears. They burned him with acid. They poured flammable liquid on him and set him on fire. Not only did those in the building not go to the police -- they did nothing at all. Worse, many took part in the tortures.

So systemic is the Jew hatred in France that it impeded rescuing Ilan or securing his release. Halimi's family said that throughout Ilan's entire captivity, the French police refused to move on any of the evidence that pointed to an anti-Semitic motive. Instead, the police conducted a routine kidnap investigation (which invariably involves ransom, not death). The police refused to pursue the anti-Semitic motivations of the kidnappers in spite of the fact that, according to newspaper accounts, "in their e-mail and telephone communications with Ilan's family, his captors repeatedly referred to his Judaism, and on at least one occasion recited verses from the Koran while Ilan was heard screaming in agony in the background".

The family begged the police to listen to torturous phone calls from the kidnappers and acknowledge that Ilan was abducted because he was Jewish. Clearly, had the police not acted in judeophobic fashion, they would have recognized that Ilan's life was in terrible danger and taken urgent action. But law enforcement was not the only guilty party. The government refused to acknowledge the anti-Semitic motives behind the torture and killing a full week after the Halimi turned up mutilated and dead.

This was not new, of course. In 2003, Sebastian Sellam, a popular disc jockey at a hot Parisian night club called Queen known as DJ Lam C (a reverse play on his surname) was on his way to work when in an underground parking lot, a Muslim neighbor slit Sellam’s throat twice. His face was completely mutilated with a carving fork. Even his eyes were gouged out.

It has taken three years to bring this case to trial and even now, they are hiding their dirty little secrets behind closed doors.

FP: How come this trial is not receiving any attention or coverage?

Geller: The French would like this ugly little business to go away. Like Al Dura. Like their sordid national behavior when the Nazis occupied France.

The latest outrage in the closed (more like hidden) trial of the "Muslim barbarian" ringleader Fofana and his 26 accomplices (it was more like 50) in the savage torture and murder of Ilan Halimi is suspension of the trial, with no indication of when it will begin again. Why isn't Youssouf Fofana, in a glass box like Eichmann at Nuremberg, chained like the wild animal that he is?

In a shocking display of proud Islamic Jew hatred (consistent with the most sacred teachings of the Koran), the brutal Halimi murder trial was suspended after the defendant spewed vile invectives and threw his "Arab shoes" across the courtroom at the jury. Throwing shoes at someone is a powerful insult in the Arab world.

According to a prosecution lawyer, Fofana's shoe throwing occurred during the presentation o f evidence by doctors who examined Halimi's body.

It is not clear when the hearing would be resumed. The trial is being conducted behind closed doors, with no press or public allowed, at the request of two of the defendants who were minors at the time of the killing. The trial is closed at the request of barbarians so evil, so savage that it defies the normal mind. And yet the vichy French acquiesced to the Muslim nazis and are hiding their pathetic attempt at justice behind closed doors.

The silence in the media and across the world is a crime against humanity. Imagine, if you will, the unthinkable, the impossible -- if Ilan had been a Muslim and his attackers had been Jews. Stop laughing -- I know it is impossible, but that's not my point. This is damning proof of the Jew hatred that is running wild across the world. Israel shuts a light off in Gaza and the world wants to eliminate her. Imagine if Ilan had been black and his attackers had been white. Stop and think about it.

FP: So let’s dig a bit deeper here: why did the police turn a blind eye to the evidence indicating that Islamic anti-Semitism was behind the kidnapping? Why is the French government, law enforcement and the media now covering up why this horrifying crime was committed? Better to let a Jew get tortured and killed than to point to the truth about what Islam teaches and what many Muslims believe and are ready to act upon, yes? This is Jew-Hate and a surrender to Islam simultaneously, yes?

Geller: Yes, exactly. This is a strain of anti-Semitism in Europe that has never been eradicated. There is never any discussion of Islamic anti-Semitism, and it is fundamental to Islamic teachings. This refusal to acknowledge the obvious gives tacit approval to incitement to violence. It is unsafe to walk about many European cities with any identifying Jewish apparel or accessories on. Is that what Europe learned from World War II? Is that the lesson that Europe took away from the holocaust?

The lesson that Europe had decided to avail itself of in the aftermath of Auschwitz was not that evil is bad and that they behaved like monsters, but rather that everything was caused by nationalism -- and therefore, what they really needed to do was have a European Union that would obviate their need for nationalism, so that they could become this transnational gobbletygook. They'd all get together and therefore they wouldn't have another Auschwitz.

But really the lesson should have been that they were evil and they had to be good. And that is the lesson they still have to learn. You have to be able and willing to make moral distinctions and stand up for the good and fight evil, and that is something the Europeans refuse to do.

From the beginning of his rule in Venezuela, Hugo Chavez has stridently criticized Israel. In recent months, Chavez has found a more vulnerable target: the Jewish population inside Venezuela.

Last week, an angry mob broke out in Miranda, Venezuela’s second largest state. Reports indicate that the Mayor of Miranda’s capital city incited an angry group of Chavez supporters to paint Nazi swastikas on the home of an anti-Chavez Jewish politician, Governor Henrique Capriles Radonski. “We are showing Capriles that …people are opposed to his continuous attacks against the initiatives and socialist projects of president Chávez,” explained Los Teques Mayor Alirio Mendoza. Governor Radonski is a charismatic Chavez opponent, and has spent time in jail for a minor role in Venezuela’s failed coup of 2004. Further, since he is perhaps the only well-known Jewish politician in the country, it is easy to understand why he has become a prime target for irate Chavistas.

These incidents follow a trend of anti-Semitic behavior that has strikingly worsened since the beginning of the year. In January 2009, Chavez accused Israel of attempting to carry out “genocide” against the Palestinian people and expelled Israel’s ambassador. Soon thereafter, a pro-Chavez columnist named Emilio Silva posted on a pro-government website urging Venezuelans to “publicly challenge every Jew that you find in the street, shopping center or park, shouting slogans in favor of Palestine and against that abortion: Israel.” A week later, a group of at least a dozen men raided the aforementioned Tiferet Israel Synagogue, vandalizing property and spraying the words ‘Jews, get out!’ on the walls. In February, someone threw a hand grenade at another synagogue, damaging it.

The hand grenade incident jolted world attention, and seemed to have persuaded Chavez to draw back for a time. For a short period, it seemed like there might be some cause for optimism. A month ago, an American resolution calling on Venezuela to “protect the rights of the Jewish Venezuelan community” was withdrawn after several Jewish Congressmen and the American Jewish Congress came out against it. Apparently, those who opposed the resolution feared that such legislation could prove to be counterproductive. In justifying his organization’s opposition to the resolution, Confederation of Israelite Associations Venezuela (CAIV) spokesman David Bittan was quoted as saying that the number of anti-Semitic articles in Venezuelan media decreased by 60% in the weeks after the grenade attack. Yet, this optimism turned out to be slightly misguided. As international pressure dissipated, the regime seems to have resumed its anti-Jewish actions, leading to the mob in Miranda and the vandalism in Caracas.

While most would agree that the rise in anti-Semitism is driven by Chavez’s need to scapegoat a minority group for his own disappointing record of achievement in power, a secondary motive is his desire to ingratiate himself with his most important international ally, Iran. As Forbes’ Venezuelan commentators note in a piece on this topic, “Chavez and Iran speak with one voice about the Jews.” Lacking positive results to show their people, both autocratic regimes benefit from a coordinated effort of propaganda that blames Jews for domestic issues and foments anti-Semitic violence and vandalism. 

And Obama, of course, rewards such depravity.

US and Venezuela to restore ties Al Jazeera (hat tip Robert)

The United States and Venezuela are to reinstate ambassadors to Caracas and Washington, setting aside a diplomatic spat that soured ties last year.

Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan president, who had been a fierce critic of Washington, met Barack Obama, his US counterpart, for the first time at a Trinidad summit in April.

Chavez said then he hoped to begin a "new era" in relations between the two countries, which have often feuded over Washington's role in Latin America.

The news of the restoration of Venezuela-US ties came as a US official confirmed that Washington planned to reappoint an ambassador to Damascus after a four-year absence.

Carter, who went to Syria after observing elections in neighboring Lebanon, stressed that he was in Damascus as a private citizen and not representing the Obama administration.

Obama, also a Democrat, seems to be going in the direction that Carter has long advocated - engagement with longtime foes Iran and Syria. So far Obama, like the Bush administration, has drawn the line at meeting with Hamas. But in a speech in Cairo last week, Obama seemed to suggest some basis for believing that Palestinian factions who rule Gaza might be drawn into the peace process.

Carter's son, James, accompanied him, and the meeting took place in Beirut. (Carter was in Lebanon ostensibly as an "impartial" election monitor and observer. But he was hardly impartial.)

The accused threw his first shoe leading to an suspension of the session. Then he threw the other shoe which resulted in his expulsion. One of the co-accused was disturbed by the accusatory questions and Fofana looked for a diversion to maintain the  "code of silence" all the accused are trying to maintain.

The screams must have been loud because the torture was especially atrocious: the thugs cut bits off the flesh of the young man, they cut his fingers and ears, they burned him with acid, and in the end poured flammable liquid on him and set him on fire.

Horrible tortures. Horrible torturers. One of the torturers would go to work at a TV station everyday and come back and partake in the torture. The girls who lured young men. They knew he had been kidnapped. They knew Yosef (the leader of the Barbarians) was extremely violent. They knew Ilan was still in his hands three weeks later. All they had to do was make an anonymous phone call to the police. No one would have known. They did not do it. No neighbor thought to say to the police that something strange was going on in this building.

The police told the family not to say a word. The Jewish community was not warned when prior attempts to kidnap Jewish men had failed. The Jewish community was not warned before the successful attempt.

Even one member of the gang who dropped out of the gang because he was shocked by their violence did not call the police.

These neighborhoods are not ghettos. They are not sordid. Not squalid.

When Ilan was found, the head of the fire department who was called to the scene, this man with decades of experience, almost fainted when he saw him. The last thing Youssef Fofana (leader of the murdering gang, the barbarians) did was to slit Ilan's throat twice and pour an inflammable liquid on him and try to set it on fire. But this did not burn him to death, because Ilan walked for perhaps one hour, trying still to find a way to live.

A little basic psychology here.

When people such as 89-year-old white supremacist James Von Brunn, who attacked the U.S. Holocaust Museum, see the impunity with which Jews are being targeted around the globe by Muslims, it’s only a matter of time before they take an example.

Especially when they see that each “isolated” incident is met with a shrug by the world, which declines to read anything ominous into it; when they see the way authorities struggle and stretch to classify every such incident as non-terrorism; and when they see that the killer’s kind isn’t demonized — but rather defended and even allowed to dictate the terms of the West’s relationship with it — it’s practically an open invitation.

BREAKING: Shots Fired at National Holocaust Museum in D.C (FOX NEWS LIVE)

SUSPECT IN HOLOCAUST MUSEUM SHOOTING WAS ARRESTED WITH GUN. He was wounded by return fire.

Indications show no fatalities. FBI terrorism task force is now on scene. The Obama presidency -- one nightmare after another.

Two rushed to hospital. One in critical condition. The museum was packed when a man walked in, pulled out a rifle and started shooting -- the security guard was shot and another unidentified man was shot.

"Children at the Holocaust museum heard several shots"

Witness, young 21 year old woman, said everyone hit the ground. The little girls started crying.

Young man says they heard five shots fired.

 

Apparently at 12:50 PM, the man with the long gun walked into the Holocaust museum and opened fire on the security guard. FOX news reports:

At least two people were shot after a man opened fire inside the national Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., Wednesday, officials said. 

The suspect has been arrested, according to a law enforcement source. 

Reports said the suspect first shot a security guard, and that another guard returned fire, wounding the alleged shooter. 

There are conflicting reports about how many people were wounded. Another law enforcement official said three people were shot, but that there are no fatalities.

There is chatter about a "suspicious package". FOX news is talking to a couple who saw the shooter on the ground, but no one dares ask what the shooter looked like.

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright says he does not feel any regrets over his severed relationship with President Barack Obama, a former member of the Chicago church in which Wright was the longtime pastor.

Wright also said that he had not spoken to his former church member since Obama became president, implying that the White House won't allow Obama to talk to him. He did not indicate whether he had tried to reach Obama.

President Obama has delivered a necessary shock to Israel's right-wing government. Will he now compromise?

IN THE WEEKS before President Obama's Cairo address to the Muslim world, his administration opened a striking public breach with the Israeli government of Binyamin Netanyahu. Even aside from any possible usefulness for courting Arab opinion, this was probably necessary. Mr. Netanyahu, who has refused to publicly support Palestinian statehood and insisted that Israeli settlement expansion will continue, was in need of a wake-up call. So the president has said repeatedly that he expects Israel to start moving toward a two-state solution, and he and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton have bluntly insisted that all Israeli settlement activity stop. The medicine has had its effect: Israeli media are full of talk of the "crisis" between Washington and Jerusalem and of the fateful choice that Mr. Netanyahu must make between good relations with Washington and the hard-line ideology of his Likud party.

The question is whether the administration will allow Mr. Netanyahu the room to side with Mr. Obama, should he choose to do so. According to some officials in his government, there is much the Israeli leader may be willing to do to mend the rift. What he almost certainly will not do, however, is abandon the position of previous Israeli governments -- accepted in practice by both the Bush and Clinton administrations -- that some "natural growth" must be allowed in existing settlements.

Mr. Obama's Middle East envoy, George J. Mitchell, first called for an end to "natural growth" in 2001, when he headed a Middle East commission. Ms. Clinton publicly committed the Obama administration to the demand in a recent interview with al-Jazeera, saying "we want to see a stop to settlement construction, additions, natural growth -- any kind of settlement activity." There are some good reasons for this position: Previous Israeli governments have violated their own rules about the limits of "natural growth"; they have also failed to fulfill repeated promises to dismantle those settlements that Israel itself has deemed illegal.

Egypt Bans Marriage to Israelis by Al-Qotb, Contributing Writer

After the verdict was read in the Cairo courtroom, Nabih al-Wahsh, an Egyptian attorney, jumped for joy and received an avalanche of telephone calls from friends congratulating him on his latest legal victory.

Al-Wahsh has managed to extract a ruling from Egypt’s Administrative Court — which rules in disputes between citizens and the state — that would force the Egyptian government to strip Egyptians married to Israelis of their Egyptian citizenship. The May 19 ruling was met with the cheers of millions in this populous Arab country.

“This is an historic ruling,” al-Wahsh said to reporters after the ruling. “Egyptians married to Israelis are dangerous to Egypt’s national security, acting in ways that contradict the constitution of their country and Islamic laws,” he said.

Calls flooded into TV talk shows discussing the verdict and readers posted comments on Web sites of newspapers that wrote about it.

Everyone appeared united in elation at the ruling, as well as in hatred of the Jewish state and everything that related to it, even if it was originally Egyptian.

“Israel clamors to become an integral part of the Arab world and to do so it lures Egyptians to get married to its women,” one reader wrote to a local newspaper, commenting on the ruling.

A second writer warned against Israeli plans to use Egyptians married to Israelis as spies, while a third said the sons and the daughters of these people would one day claim property in Egypt, something that would “ease Israel’s hegemony over Egypt yet again.”

Such sentiments among a large chunk of Egypt’s population of about 80 million underscores the wide chasm that distinguishes Egypt at the official level and the same country at the level of its public.

Although Egypt was the first country to sign a peace treaty with Israel, almost 30 years ago, its government and its people still walk two different paths.

Egyptian officials visit Israel, meet members of its cabinet and sign agreements secretly and openly with them, but the people on the street still view Israel as an “enemy,” “imperialist” in nature, and those Egyptians who travel and get married there are seen as “traitors.” These same critics have consistently attempted to abort every possibility of breaking the ice that has blocked the way between Cairo and Tel Aviv for decades now.

No matter what, Islam hates the Jews. Period.

In this sense, it is true that Egypt is the “heart of the Arab world,” as President Barack Obama and his advisers like to call it.

Some estimates put the number of Egyptians living in Israel between 6,000 and 7,000, although al-Wahsh believes the number could be between 30,000 and 40,000.

The reason people leave Egypt for Israel is not a secret to the people in this country, even among decision-makers themselves. In addition to the fallout from the international economic downturn, which has weighed heavily on the Egyptian economy, Egypt has been suffering its own economic deterioration for years.

In this country, which features the oldest civilization in the Arab Middle East, more than 40 percent of the population lives beneath the poverty line, according to the World Bank.

Israel, by contrast, is a thriving multiethnic country that enjoys political pluralism and offers Egyptian job seekers a model totally different from in their own country, where jobs are rare, diversity is nonexistent and religious tolerance is scarce.

Part of the antipathy to Israel stems from what Egyptians see on their national TV and read in their newspapers every day. Israeli attacks against the Palestinians are fodder for the editors of news bulletins.

A few weeks ago, TV anchor Mahmud Saad, in an on-air telephone interview, lashed out at Egypt’s Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni, who is seeking election to the top post of UNESCO, for inviting Daniel Barenboim, a conductor with Israeli origins and international acclaim, to lead an orchestra at the Egyptian Opera House.

“I hate Israel,” Saad, who hosts the popular talk show “al-Beit Beitak” (“Feel at Home”), shouted while speaking with the minister.

Days later, Egypt’s ex-mufti — a top religious leader who advises the country’s Muslim majority on religious matters —  lampooned Arab countries that sign agreements with Israel in a veiled criticism of the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.

“[These marriages] would usher in a new generation of people who would help Israel implement its imperialistic desires in this region in general and in Egypt in particular,” said Ibrahim al-Enani, a professor of international law from Cairo. “This court ruling doesn’t contradictwith either Egypt’s constitution or international laws,” he added.

Ironically, what might have been missed by the judges who passed the ruling is that most Egyptians living in Israel are married to Israeli women with Arab origins. These people speak the same language as the Egyptians and sometimes also share their same faith.

The constant din of Islamic anti-semitism is nothing new. Dr. Andrew Bostom elaborated on the institutional Islamic Jew hatred in Egypt when Cairo was being discussed as a destination for Obama's bow to the Muslim world:

But apart from diplomatic threats -- which can be made privately, Mr. Obama should demonstrate courageous moral leadership in his public address, demanding an end to the declarations of Jew-hatred, and even calls for jihad genocide against the Jews, issued regularly by Egyptian clerics, including authoritative Islamic religious leaders at the renowned Al Azhar University.

Preaching this sacralized hatred is endemic in Egypt. A front page New York Times story published January 10, 2009, included extracts from the Friday sermon (of 1/9/09) at Al Azhar mosque pronounced by Egyptian-government appointed cleric Sheik Eid Abdel Hamid Youssef. Referencing well-established (citations provided, below), Sheikh Youssef intoned,

Muslim brothers, God has inflicted the Muslim nation with a people whom God has become angry at [Koran 1:7] and whom he cursed [Koran 5:78] so he made monkeys and pigs [Koran 5:60] out of them. Arab Journos Boycott Obama Roundtable; Won't Sit With Jew

After Obama's speech in Cairo yesterday, he arranged a roundtable with eight journalists. Yedioth Ahronoth, an Israeli paper, was invited to send a correspondent as were several Arab papers. Nahum Barnea reports (translation):

After Obama’s speech yesterday at Cairo University, we gathered, six senior journalists from all over the Muslim world and I, the reporter for Yedioth Ahronoth, around a circular table in a side room. The president wanted to give us an interview.

The original group had eight. The Syrian did not show after hearing that a reporter from Israel had been invited. The Lebanese, Naoum Sarkis, had been sitting with us all at the front of the hall but when he realized where I was from and whom I was representing, he passed on the opportunity and fled.

Lebanon and Syria, two countries that share a common border with Israel, respectively act as a state-sponsor and base for terror against Israel. The reporters from these countries would not even sit in the same room as a Jew -- even after bathing in Obama's healing rhetoric. Other Arab journalists did stay, including a Palestinian, to hear Obama compare Bibi to Nixon. "Only the anti-Communist Nixon could have opened the doors to China," Obama said. Of course, Nixon was also forced to resign.

Israeli tourist office withdraws ads after map complaints (hat tip Michael)
Posters on London Underground made no distinction between Israel and occupied territories, sparking hundreds of complaints

The Israel Government Tourism Office is withdrawing a series of posters displayed in London Underground stations featuring a map that treats the occupied territories as part of Israel, after the advertisements were referred to the Advertising Standards Authority.

The yellow map makes no distinction between Israel and the Golan Heights, the West Bank and Gaza.

The Palestinian Solidarity Campaign and Jews for Justice for Palestinians both complained to the ASA as well as to CBS Outdoor, which is responsible for the poster sites, and Transport for London (TfL), which said it received more than 600 complaints.

The poster, which had gone up on 108 sites and was due to go up on another 42 before it was pulled by IGTO, was part of the Think Israel campaign. Last year the ASA upheld a complaint about a magazine advertisement that was part of the same campaign because it implied that Qumran was in the state of Israel when in fact it is in the occupied West Bank. In its judgement, the ASA ruled that the advert should be withdrawn and said it was "concerned by ThinkIsrael.coms [sic] lack of response and apparent disregard for the [committee of advertising practice] code".

An ASA spokesman said it had received 342 complaints about the London Underground posters and it was currently assessing whether there were grounds for an investigation. He said the fact that the posters were being withdrawn would be taken into consideration but did not preclude an investigation.

A TfL spokesman said: "The Israel Ministry of Tourism has requested the removal of an advert that they had placed at selected stations on the Tube network." Neither the Israeli embassy in London or IGTO responded to guardian.co.uk requests for a comment.

The Jewish graveyard in Sofienberg Oslo has been vandalised. Many graves have had Nazi symbols painted on them. The vandalisme took place on Thursday. The case has been reported to the police. On one of the gravestones "The war continues" was written.

This is a Swedish blogger posting about an incident in Norway. The blogger comments that the cemetery is in a Muslim area. The blogger suspects Muslims and comments that the Norwegian press and police suspect Neo-Nazis.

Either way, it's the same thing. -- it's despicable. And the world permits it. The police prefer 'neo-nazis'; they will never say it is Islamic anti-semitism.

Israel's Unrequited, Fatal Love

The growing, ugly Jew hatred in Europe is analyzed by Israel's modern day Deborah, Caroline Glick. Europe's anti-semitism is not surprising (considering its history), but Israel's sad pursuit of this evil transnational nefarious glob, the EU, is a whole other matter. I understand the whole trade issue, but my G-d man, dignity!

This reminds me of a seminal conversation I had with Caroline last year that I frequently cite, because no one really gets it. She said the Holocaust, while it was a German initiative, was carried out by every nation in Europe, save for the Danes. There were Dutch Nazis, Polish Nazis -- Europe as a continent decided it was a good idea to get rid of the Jews. Holland had the highest rate of collaboration with the Nazis, higher than any other country in Western Europe. 95% of Dutch Jews were murdered.

The lesson the Europeans took away from the aftermath of WW2 is insidious. "The lesson that Europe had decided to avail itself to in the aftermath of Auschwitz, was not that evil is bad and that they behaved like monsters but rather that everything was caused by nationalism and therefore what we really need to do is have a European Union that will obviate our need for nationalism so that we can become this transnational gobbletygook and we'll all get together and therefore we won't have another Auschwitz.
But really the lesson should have been is that we were evil and we have to be good. And that is the lesson we have to learn and and we have to be able and willing t0 make moral distinctions and stand up for the good and fight evil and that is something the Europeans refuse to do."

They are constantly having memorials to dead Jews while condemning Israel for every act of of self defense, no matter how benign it is, on behalf of innocent Jewish citizens.

Nationalism isn't bad. American nationalism wasn't bad, has never been bad. British nationalism hasn't been bad. French nationalism isn't bad. Polish nationalism isn't bed. Czech nationalism wasn't bad.

The thing that was bad was that Germany which decided to embrace madness and evil as its central unifying characteristic under the Nazis. That is what the problem was; it was not nationalism per se. And it's still not nationalism.

They took all the wrong lessons from WW2 and are applying them, while ignoring the only lesson that's really relevant from WW2 -- which is that you have to choose good and defend good and fight with the intention of defeating evil.

SOME HAVE attributed the rise in European anti-Semitism to the rapid growth of Muslim minorities throughout the continent. This explanation has much to recommend it. Levels of anti-Semitism among most Muslim minority populations in Europe are exceedingly high. According to Kaplan and Small's study, European Muslims are eight times more likely than non-Muslims to be openly anti-Semitic. And Franco Frattini, the EU official responsible for combating anti-Semitism, told The Jerusalem Post last year that some 50% of anti-Jewish attacks in Europe are conducted by Muslims.

But while European Muslims are a major factor in the rise of anti-Jewish violence, they are a bit player when it comes to the overall prevalence of anti-Jewish attitudes. For example, with 46% of Spaniards negatively disposed toward Jews, and with Muslims making up only 3-5% of Spaniards, we learn that nearly half of Christian Spaniards are anti-Semitic. And as the 2008 Pew survey shows, European hatred of Jews is growing at a fast clip. Indeed, it is growing two and a half times faster than European hatred of Muslims.

In all likelihood, these negative trends for Jews are only going to escalate in the coming years. Politicians interested in being elected have already begun exploiting the rise in anti-Jewish sentiments to increase their electoral prospects. In the 2005 British elections, for instance, the Labor Party under Tony Blair depicted then Conservative Party leader Michael Howard as the hateful anti-Semitic icon Fagin from Oliver Twist in a campaign poster. Another Labor poster portrayed Howard and fellow politician Oliver Letwin as flying pigs.

This state of affairs bodes ill for Israel's future relations with Europe. In most cases, European politicians pander to the growing constituency of anti-Semites by adopting hostile policies toward Israel. These policies then serve to further justify anti-Semitic attitudes, and so the number of European anti-Semites continues to grow, and in turn, European hostility to Israel increases.

No doubt recognizing the political advantage to be garnered by attacking Israel, last year Spanish investigative magistrate Judge Fernando Andreu Merellesis decided to use a specious complaint submitted by the discredited Palestinian Center for Human Rights to launch a war crimes investigation against Israel's top political and military leaders. Against the stated will of Spain's state prosecution, Merellesis announced last week that he is proceeding with his investigation into claims that a dozen senior Israeli leaders committed a war crime when they approved the 2002 decision to target Hamas terror master Salah Shehadeh.

ALL OF this brings us back to Europhilic Israel. Due to the fact that the majority of Israelis have yet to get their way, and Israel continues not to be a member in the EU, EU courts lack the power to enforce their rulings against Israelis. Today the only thing Israelis need to worry about is that we will be arrested if we visit Europe. This is inconvenient, but not impossible to live with.

Were Israel to join the EU, however, EU laws would supersede Israeli laws. European courts could compel Israeli courts to enforce their rulings. Israel, in short, would find itself subsumed in a hostile political entity that could simply adjudicate and legislate it out of existence.

Australian Man Charged For Alleged Anti-Semitic YouTube Rant (hat tip Davida)

PERTH, Australia  —  An Australian man faces up to 14 years in prison after allegedly posting an anti-Semitic video on YouTube and attempting to incite racism, he will be charged under a so-far untested Australian state law.

The 38-year-old man from the west coast city of Perth could become the first person convicted under Western Australia state's racial vilification laws enacted four years ago.

The laws were introduced in response to a series of violent attacks by white supremacists around Perth. The only person previously charged under the law was a 16-year-old Aboriginal girl, but a magistrate said the case involved petty name-calling and dismissed it.

State police spokeswoman Susan Usher said the suspect will appear in court next Tuesday charged with "conduct likely to incite animosity or racist harassment." He cannot be identified under Australian law until his first court appearance.

If convicted, he faces a possible maximum penalty of 14 years in prison plus a fine of $18,000.

Detectives acting on a tip arrested the man at his home Wednesday. He was released on bail, Usher said.

The video shot at locations around Perth "contained content that was targeting a specific religion including threats to harm specific persons," Usher said.

Commissioner Karl O'Callaghan said police had contacted YouTube about having the video removed.

"We have been working with them to pull the video down and they have been fairly cooperative in the past," O'Callaghan told reporters.

Police have not specified the religion. But the Perth-based newspaper The West Australian said Jews were targeted.

The newspaper said the 10-minute video showed the man saying to the camera "your days are numbered" and "I will put you in the camps with the rest of them."

He is also shown taunting a Jewish man outside a shopping center and calling him a "racist, homicidal maniac," the newspaper said.

This is not about simply a case about free speech, this is more about assault, stalking, intimidating and  threatening. Obviously, these two young Jews just minded their own business and wanted nothing to do with him, but he was hammering them with absurd accusations and allegations, yelling stuff about how vile the Jewish religion is and "what Jews really think of Goyim etc etc." In a way it is regrettable that Youtube took the vid off because it is so over the top and so obscene that you really start wondering what kind of world we're living in.

Hopefully they will not use this and make it a free speech issue, that would backfire. This case is about assault, stalking, slander, defamation and provocation, and there are laws in place to deal with this.

Survivors of a Nazi death camp were shot at and abused as they gathered to remember their liberation.

Masked neo-Nazi thugs screamed 'Heil Hitler!' and 'This way for the gas!' at ten elderly Italian men and women, who returned to the site of the Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria.

The gang also fired air guns at a group of 15 French survivors, many dressed in the striped pyjama-style uniforms they wore as inmates. One suffered a head wound while another was injured by a shot in the neck. The four thugs managed to escape.

Jewish leaders in Austria were appalled by the weekend scenes that marred events marking the 64th anniversary of the camp’s liberation by American troops.

'In the first instance a group of French survivors were attacked by four  armed men clad in camouflage gear,' said Willy Mernyi, head of the Mauthausen Committee of Austria.

'The attackers shot at the group of fifteen survivors with what police assume was plastic air gun pellets. One person was hit in the head while another was injured by a shot in the neck.

'People come to remember the dead and pay their respects and are met with this kind of terror.'

The second incident happened a short time later when 10 Italian survivors who gathered nearby for a similar ceremony were attacked.

The concentration camp was liberated by U.S. troops on May 5, 1945

While they were not fired on, the neo-Nazis again hurled abuse and shouted Nazi slogans while giving the Hitler salute.

But the same spirit that kept them alive back then was still evident among the survivors who fought with the cowards who desecrated the memory of their dead comrades.  

They even succeeded in ripping the mask from one of them and taking his picture with a mobile telephone camera.

Regional police chief Alois Lissl said the survivors and their families showed 'extreme courage' in fighting back.

'Unfortunately, the men managed to escape but we know that they spoke in a local  dialect,' he said.

Ebensee mayor Herwat Loidl condemned the modern-day Nazis, declaring: 'They will not be allowed to gain a foothold in our community.'

He called on Austrians with information as to the identities of the thugs to turn them in.

Some 7,000 Mauthausen survivors and their families from 42 countries travelled to the Mauthausen complexes at the weekend for the remembrance services.

“At least we set out to do what we wanted to – to honour the dead and remember the liberation,” added Mernyi.

An estimated 320,000 people were murdered or worked to death at the camp.

Police have arrested three youths suspected of firing a pellet gun at a former concentration camp and leaving two people—one a Holocaust survivor—slightly hurt.

Two French visitors to the Ebensee camp were hurt Saturday by pellets.

Police official Alois Lissl confirmed the arrests Tuesday. Five youths aged 14 and 16 have confessed to the shootings and to shouting "Heil Hitler" at an Italian group.

A new fatwa published in Egypt determines that the source of all the existing pigs in the world is Jews, who were cursed by Allah. The new edict was issued by Sheikh Ali Osman from the Egyptian Waqf ministry.

Due to their Jewish roots, Sheikh Osman says, it is permissible to slaughter all the pigs. The religious scholar was quoted as saying by a Jordanian newspaper that he personally believes the source of the pigs is Jews and thus the consumption of pork is banned in Islam

A hotel in the Austrian region of Tyrol that said it does not accept Jewish guests has caused shock in the local media and tourism industry, the daily Tiroler Tageszeitung reported Sunday.

A Vienna family of seven had had tried to make a reservation at the Haus Sonnenhof apartment hotel in the village of Serfaus, but the owner replied by e-mail that although the room was free, she did not want to take in Jewish guests because of "bad experiences" in the past.

Steve Samuel: "Last night, at the University College building of U of T, a pseudo-medical presentation was made under the title of “Medicine, War and Occupation: The Case of Gaza." It turned out to be a clear demonstration of hatred, intolerance and total opposition to any constructive dialogue. It was not only devoid of any scientific medical data but when the misrepresentations were challenged with documented facts the environment turned very ugly. I attended and, in the attachment to this e-mail [below], I have described in detail to my colleagues in DARA (Doctors Against Racism and Anti-Semitism) what transpired. I believe you will find it quite an "eye-opener" about what is taking place on the U of T campus under the guise of "academic freedom" and" exchange of ideas".

I just got back from the above event which had been advertised as a presentation on “The impact of war, siege and occupation on the health of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip”. This evening proved to be quite unnerving and certainly left me with the feeling that, at least in regards to the group present there tonight, there is nothing to talk about and no-one to talk to. Let me elaborate.

I arrived before 7PM and there were a few people, some of whom I recognized from previous events including the one at the Leslie Dan Building. Later I saw 2 member of DARA in the hall.

The opening remarks were made by Dr. Paul Hamil, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, U of T in the “Health Studies program”. He announced that the evening had been sponsored by the Canadian Arab Federation, Canadian Friends of Sabil (an organization that promotes Boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel), and NECF (Near Eastern Cultural Foundation of Canada). Dr. Hamil introduced Dr. Elodi who thanked the U of T for permitting the presenters to exercise their “right”, not a “privilege” to present their position and immediately launched into an anecdote about how Israel refused to allow an academic conference in Gaza from taking place. He finished with a joke about an Israeli who, upon visiting London is asked by immigration about his occupation. He replies, “No, I am just visiting”. That brought laughter from the room.

Dr. Elodi introduced Dr. Karmi who described the difference between this conflict and other conflicts:

1) It is “Not a war” because Israel carries out military assaults on the Palestinians with disproportionate force and it besieges Gaza.

2) Israel acts with impunity and visits “a great deal of violence” on the Palestinians.

3) The conflict is longstanding and “does not end”.

Dr. Karmi went on to talk about how Israel’s occupation for the last 61 years has “damaged” Palestinian society, the previously vibrant Palestinian agriculture and industry (“De-development”) as well as having a terrible consequence on the health of Palestinians under occupation. She sited statistics such as the infant mortality rate among Palestinians in the W. Bank and Gaza is 27/1000 live births vs. 3.6/1000 in Israel.

Dr. Karmi then went on to discuss the situation in Gaza. This was done in a very subjective manner with terms such as “horrifying”, “criminal”, “incredible”. She stated that Israel had planned to destroy as much of Gaza as possible in order to set back the society socially and economically. To the gasps of the audience, she described the horrible consequences of white phosphorous with wounds smouldering for 10 days, legs amputated at the hips by various mysterious weapons and especially children suffering. She accused Israel of using Gaza as a laboratory for untested American weapons and utilizing weapons that emit radioactivity with untold future consequences on Palestinian children. She accused Israel of causing an environmental disaster as a result of the pollutants released from destroyed factories. She went on to list the casualties in Gaza as follows: - total of approx. 1450

- 930 civilian

- 250 children

- - 233 "policemen"

No-one cared to question this math. Were the 250 children among the 930 “civilians” or were they among the “policemen”? Where there no combatants at all? Just "policemen"?

Dr. Karmi went on to urge the audience to “do something”. Not just sit and watch Israel’s “sadism”. She urged the audience to try to influence civil society by promoting the BDS campaign (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) on every front, including economic and academic. She recounted how she was involved in the organizing the attempt at the British academic boycott of Israel.

When it came time for questions, a member of our executive recounted his credentials in the peace movement together with Dr. Elodi and expressed distress at the situation in the Middle East resulting in suffering on both sides. He said that Dr. Karmi did not advance a solution to the problem by looking at the problem from only one side. His request to her was to promote dialogue and to work for the benefit of the peoples on both sides of the conflict.

I was somewhat taken aback by her response, coming from a so-called “academic”. "There is no issue of bias here. What we have is a settler colonialist State of Israel. It is impossible to find a common pathway here”. The audience clapped and our member left.

When my turn came I said the following:

“Dr. Karmi. From what you have replied to the previous questioner I conclude that you see the only solution being the end of the State of Israel. (The audience cheered). I shall address my question to the medical side of your presentation. You sited statistics to demonstrate that the Israeli occupation has adversely affected the health of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. Specifically you stated that the infant mortality is 27/1000 vs. 3.6 in Israel. The latest UNICEF statistics show that although the infant mortality among Palestinians is greater than in Israel it is lower than in Egypt (28/1000), Lebanon (27/1000), Jordan (22/1000). The IM among Palestinians according to UNICEF data is 21/1000. Also the latest World Health Organization statistics show that Palestinians in the territories have an ASMR (Age & Sex Standardized Mortality Rate per 100,000) that is the lowest among Arab countries in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia has an ASMR of 1075, Egypt 898, Algeria 794, Lebanon 73 and the Palestinian territories 698.5. It appears that occupation has resulted in an improvement in the health care of Palestinians as measured by the WHO and UNICEF. Why do you claim to the contrary”?

The audience started to boo me half way through my question at which point Dr. Hamil reminded them that this is a place where all opinions are allowed.

Dr. Karmi’s response was as follows: “Why compare infant mortality with other countries such as Egypt or Indian? Israel is the occupying power and it has a responsibility for health care in the territories it occupies and the infant mortality among Palestinians should not be higher than for Israelis.”

At this point things turned ugly. A woman whom I had encountered at the CJPME event stood up and addressed me rather than the speaker. She stated that she is Jewish. She said, “You are Dr. Samuel. I can’t understand how you can speak on the side of the Israelis who are committing horrible crimes. I am a Jew and I am ashamed of what Israel is doing”. She went on and on as the audience cheered.

Then another man stood up and stated that every year in Israel the Jews hold Holocaust remembrance ceremonies. “And they have a right to do that”. But how can they commit these same crimes. He then turned to me and said, “I have seen you before. You must be the most stupid man I have ever met. You are a racist”. At which point some in the audience echoed, “Racist”.

I stood up and said, “Look at yourselves. You are calling me a racist because I presented statistics from the World Health Organization and UNICEF. What was racist about that”? Several people called out, “You are a racist”. I said, “You people are interested in only talking to yourself” and as I walked out a man sitting along the aisle said to me, “You are a racist. I am a Jew and I can smell a racist”. Another woman beside him said, “You are a racist”.

I left.

One of the lone voices in Germany still exercising what’s left of European free speech is about to lose the last remnants of it. Anti-jihad, pro-Israel blogger Fred Alan Medforth, proprietor of the blogs Allah’s Willing Executioners and Jihad Watch Deutschland, is being sued by the German government. As he wrote me:

Mr. Medforth…offended [a] social-democratic member of the Bundestag, Nils Annen. Mr Annen is a German pro-Hamas and pro-Hizbollah politician. [But instead of] Mr. Annen suing Medforth…German justice sues Medforth [for] insulting Mr Annen… It is the German justice itself which wants a lawsuit against the German pro-Israel blogger.

That means it is a politically motivated court procedure. German justice states that [a photo published on the site] and its subtitle are insulting [to] Mr. Annen. The photo shows Hamas members presenting the Hitler salute. The text of the subtitle is : “One last greeting to Mr Annen.”

The lawsuit takes place on the 12th of May, 2009 in the district court of Gelsenkirchen.

Police: Gunman in Deadly Wesleyan Shooting Threatened Victim, Is Targeting Jews

Authorities hunting nationwide for a gunman in disguise who killed a Wesleyan University student said the shooter had threatened the victim before, and they warned Jewish groups to be "vigilant" because he is apparently targeting them.

Police identified the suspect, who opened fire Wednesday on junior Johanna Justin-Jinich while she was working at a cafe bookstore, as 29-year-old Stephen Morgan.

The pair had attended a program together at New York University when Morgan began sending her harassing e-mails, according to a New York City police report.

"This was not a random act of violence," Middletown, Conn., Police Chief Lynn Baldoni told reporters Thursday. "Evidence uncovered overnight suggests that Mr. Morgan may be focused on the Wesleyan campus as well as the Jewish community."

Morgan allegedly wrote about targeting Wesleyan and its Jewish students in his journal, university student affairs vice president Mike Whaley told the Hartford Courant. Justin-Jinich, 21, was Jewish.

A NAZI war criminal exposed by The Sun is to escape justice after Austrian officials refused to deport him to face trial.

Croatian police chief Milivoj Asner signed orders for the deportation of Jews, gipsies and Serbs to death camps in the town where he lived in World War Two.

After the war, Asner fled and went into hiding. The Sun tracked the 96-year-old to a flat in Klagenfurt, Austria, where he was living under a false name.

His lawyers insisted he suffered dementia and was too ill to face trial.

A face-to-face interview with The Sun showed that he was lucid and defiant. But justice officials in Austria last night insisted he is unfit to stand trial.

Holocaust campaigner Dr Efraim Zuroff said: “His tranquil life in Klagenfurt, protected by the Austrian legal system, is an insult to victims.”

The lesson the Europeans took away from the aftermath of WW2 was insidious. Labour Party embroiled in race row after candidate told she was 'too white and Jewish' to be selected hat tip Julio

The Labour Party has become embroiled in a race row after a prospective female councillor was allegedly told she was 'too white and Jewish' to be selected.

Elaina Cohen claims that Labour councillor Mahmood Hussain said he would not support her application for an inner-city ward because 'my Muslim members don't want you because you are Jewish'.

Mrs Cohen, 50, has made an official complaint about the alleged remarks made by Mr Hussain, a Muslim and former lord mayor of Birmingham.

She said: 'I am shocked and upset that a member of the Labour Party in this day and age could even think something like that, let alone say it.

'People should not be allowed to make racist comments like that. If someone in the party feels I cannot represent them because of my colour or religion, that's ridiculous.

'I felt particularly aggrieved because I have worked across all sections of the community, particularly with the Muslim section, and have been on official visits to Pakistan.'

Good luck with that.

Mrs Cohen had applied to stand as a Labour councillor for the Birmingham ward of East Handsworth and Lozells, which has a high Asian and Afro-Caribbean population.

As one of Labour's safest seats on Tory-led Birmingham city council, the final candidate would be almost certain of victory at the June 4 by-election.

But when Mrs Cohen telephoned 57-year-old Mr Hussain for his support, she was astonished to be told that she was too 'white and Jewish' to be considered.

Lorraine Briscoe, who runs a local community association, was sitting next to Mrs Cohen when the conversation took place on speakerphone last Tuesday.

'I was disgusted that a councillor could make comments like that in 2009,' she said.

'He told her, "They will not vote for someone who is white and Jewish. My Muslim members don't want you because you are Jewish".

'Elaina then asked him if he had talked to his Muslim members about it and he said, "I don't want to talk about it with you" and hung up.

'Elaina does a lot of good work in this community and she does not see race or religion, she just sees people.'

Two days after the alleged conversation, Mrs Cohen and another candidate were rejected by a pre-selection panel after failing to gain the support of the local party.

Instead, members were presented with one candidate, black South African Hendrina Quinnen, who was selected by an almost unanimous vote.

Who to Decide Israel's fate? Everyone except the people of Israel

I find it more and more morbidly curious that everyone in the "global community", particularly her mortal enemies, has a say in what Israel must do  -  except, of course, Israel. Jordan's Abdullah: Israel Must Choose Between Isolation and Integration FOX news

Israel must choose between integration and isolation in the Middle East, Jordan's King Abdullah II said Friday on a visit to the United States.

He also warned that delaying a two-state solution would be disastrous for both Israel and the Palestinians, according to reports from Haaretz Service and Reuters.

"Israel now has to make its choice — to integrate into the region ... with normal relations with its neighbors or to remain fortress Israel," the king said, Reuters reported.

The king said the 2002 Arab peace initiative was the best option for Israel. The initiative would establish normal ties between Israel and all Arab states in return for it relinquishing territory gained in the 1967 Middle East war, the creation of a Palestinian state and a "just solution" for its refugees, Reuters reported.

The United States will be key to peace between Israel and the Palestinians, and both sides are already testing President Obama's resolve, he said.

That is the goal all sides have embraced and the outline of a deal is clear, but it will take determination and a push from Washington to make it happen, Abdullah said.

"The status quo is simply untenable," Abdullah said in an address at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

(IsraelNN.com) Several times this week, Bolivian police have forcibly closed a Chabad House in an area popular with foreign backpackers. A Foreign Ministry official said Thursday that there were no Israeli citizens caught up in the raids, but other reports indicated that several Israelis were arrested.

The Chabad House targeted by Bolivian law enforcement is located in Rurrenabaque, in the northeastern part of the country. Rabbi Aharon Fraiman, a Chabad emissary in the town, told the Chabad.info website that local police have not presented any official closure order, nor have they provided a reason for the raids. The rabbi further claimed that several Israelis were arrested by police and that one of them had already been kicked out of the country.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor called the raid "unexplainable" and said that the developing incident "is preoccupying [the Foreign Ministry]". However, he emphasized in a conversation with Israel National News that his office currently has no information on any Israeli citizens taken into custody. A formal deportation order would have required some formal contact with Israel, according to Palmor, but there has been no such request from Bolivian officials.

Bolivia cut off diplomatic relations with Israel in early 2009, in the wake of Israel's Operation Cast Lead against the jihadist regime in Gaza.

According to Rabbi Fraiman's statements to Chabad.info, local rumors in Bolivia have it that the Chabad House was targeted in a drug raid or in connection with an assassination plot targeting Bolivian President Evo Morales.

Pat Buchanan's Alter Ego: Nazi War Criminal John Demjanjuk

Demjanjuk, 88, had been a guard at the Sobibor death camp in Poland and had personally led Jews to the gas chambers there in 1943.

"We have managed to obtain hundred of documents and have also found a number of witnesses who spoke out against Demjanjuk,"  Kurt Schrimm,  Germany's chief Nazi war crimes investigator told Reuters.

"For the first time we have even found lists of names of the people who Demjanjuk personally led into the gas chambers. We have no doubt that he is responsible for the death of over 29,000 Jews," Schrimm added.

Accused Nazi war criminal John Demjanjuk, who is wanted in Germany in connection with the murder of 29,000 Jews at the notorious Sobibor death factory, may be the only illegal alien Pat Buchanan wants to keep in the United States.

Demjanjuk was stripped of his American citizenship by federal courts for concealing his past as a concentration camp guard, but has evaded deportation by a series of last minute legal maneuvers. His staunchest defender is the conservative writer who, in a column published on Good Friday called him a victim of "the same satanic brew of hate and revenge that drove another innocent man up Calvary that first Good Friday 2,000 years ago."

Who's behind the "un-American persecution" of Buchanan's hero? The Jews, of course. Specifically the Justice Department's Office of Special Investigations, which he has portrayed as being in cahoots with the KGB and tried to shut down when he served in the Reagan White House.

Jesus wasn't the only Jew Buchanan likened to Demjanjuk; he also called him an "American Dreyfus," as if to suggest he is the victim of religious persecution by those who were once the victims of French bigotry.

What Buchanan wants for Demjanjuk is nothing less than a "reward" for "prolonged success in eluding justice," said Eli Rosenbaum, the Justice Department's top Nazi hunter.

"Buchanan's real target is Israel. Like [Iranian President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad with Holocaust denial, his real goal is to delegitimize Israel," said Neal Sher, a former OSI director.

He has accused George W. Bush of "outsourcing American Middle Eat policy to Ariel Sharon," complained that 13 percent of US senators "are Jewish folks from 2 percent of the population. That's where real power is at." And he wants to "investigate whether there is a nest of Pollardites in the Pentagon who have been transmitting American secrets through AIPAC, the Israeli lobby, over to Reno Road, the Israeli embassy, to be transferred" to Jerusalem.

A colleague asked, "Why bother writing about Demjanjuk and Buchanan? Nobody cares about those old Nazis anymore, and everyone knows what Buchanan is." That's why. Because there can be no statute of limitations on murder. "It remains essential to pursue justice" in cases of genocide and crimes against humanity, as Eli Rosenbaum has said, and "the mere passage of time in no way diminishes the gravity of those offenses."

Buchanan wrote his latest outrage on Good Friday; this week we marked Holocaust Remembrance Day. For those who find Buchanan's diatribes insulting to the memory of the Nazis' victims and his attacks on Jews and Israel unacceptable, this is a time to share their outrage with MSNBC. Why are so many Jewish leaders quick to condemn the venom of the likes of Ahmadinejad, Nasrallah, Bin Laden, Chavez and their ilk but so reluctant here at home where they could have a real impact?

U.N. pulls badges from Jewish NGOs JTA (hat tip China Confidential)

GENEVA (JTA) -- The United Nations pulled credentials from a number of Jewish activists who disrupted a speech by the Iranian president at the Durban Review Conference. 

Of the 46 badges that were pulled this week for disruptive behavior, the vast majority were from individuals accredited through Jewish organizations. Notably, the French Union of Jewish Students lost 21 badges.

Credentials were stripped as well from four members of the European Union of Jewish Students and one B'nai Brith member. Between them, the French and European Jewish student groups had 370 members accredited, amounting to more than one-third of all the NGO activists at the conference. 

U.N. officials said they believed Jewish activists who already had their credentials pulled swapped badges with members of another group, Coexist.

"It seems they were in league with each other," said Rupert Colville, a U.N. spokesman.

Some of those who lost their credentials were ejected after they donned rainbow wigs and clown noses and rushed the podium during the speech of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Others were barred because they were found to be hiding clown paraphernalia and plotting a second disruption, said Colville.

The United Nations is still investigating how many other individuals may have been involved, with the U.N. accreditation of entire groups possibly revoked if they were found to have coordinated the disruptions. No charges are expected to be filed against individuals. 

"I don't think that throwing a nose is a criminal offense," Colville said. 

Two members of an Iranian group were expelled for distributing "offensive materials" and an Israeli journalist was sent out for "screaming racist comments" from the gallery, according to Colville.

John P. Murtha (D-Pa.), who was investigated but not charged in the Abscam scandal more than two decades ago, as her second-in-command.

That embarrassing experience should induce Pelosi (D-San Francisco) — who appeared chastened before reporters Thursday — to reconsider another ill-advised promotion: Her apparent intention to bestow the chairmanship of the House Intelligence Committee not on the panel's ranking Democrat, Rep. Jane Harman (D-Venice), but on Rep. Alcee L. Hastings (D-Fla.).

A litany of explanations have been adduced to explain why Pelosi would bypass Harman, an expert on intelligence matters who has won the respect of both parties while criticizing some of the Bush administration's excesses in the war on terror. None of them is persuasive. Harman has earned this chairmanship.

Harman is to the Democrats what Lincoln Chaffee was to Republicans. There is no story here, but grist for the mill. She won't be prosecuted for anything, but her reputation is smeared. Tainted goods. Any hope Harman had of chairmanship or otherwise are dashed.

Harman Tape Leak A Shot Across Israel's Bow

As others have pointed out, the story is replete with open questions, such as who was the "suspected Israeli agent," and whether such person was Israeli or American or other. Others question the timing, coming soon before the trial of the AIPAC officials is to take place (after the DOJ suffered serious legal setbacks on the case).

While these analyses are interesting, they miss the point. Leaks of highly classified NSA wiretaps don't just happen. Someone has to have a purpose, and have confidence that they will not become the subject of prosecution for leaking the material. While the leak may have some relationship to the upcoming trial, I think it is more likely that the leak is an attempt to set supporters of Israel back on their heels in light of a growing U.S.-Israel dispute over Israel's alleged plans to attack Iran's nuclear facilities. Israel denies have imminent plans to attack, although one would not expect such acknowledgement anyway.

Israel's plans to attack Iran have been receiving increased press attention, drawing a public voice of disapproval from U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. I think this analysis from the website DebkaFile highlights the shift in American strategic thinking:

...Israel is no longer a prime factor in US global policy, because America has fundamentally reshuffled its Middle East allegiances and alliances. Even Tzipi Livni at the helm in Jerusalem would not divert Obama from his détente with Ahmadinejad, Assad and Chavez.

To gain points with his new friends, Obama's White House is not above nudging Israel to please them. This week, his chief of staff Rahm Emanuel told Jewish leaders whom he met in Washington that if Israel wants America's help for thwarting Iran's nuclear program, it must first start evacuating West Bank settlements.

This was of course cynical claptrap.

Even if every single settlement were to be removed and Israel lined up with Obama's quest for a Palestinian state alongside Israel, the US president would not drop Tehran or help Israel strike Iran's nuclear facilities. He has already ceded Tehran's uranium enrichment program (and therefore its drive for nuclear arms), and would forcefully oppose any Israeli military action. US defense secretary Robert Gates indicated as much this week when he went to almost absurd lengths to play down the Iranian nuclear threat and Israel's ability to handle it.

The leak of the Harman wiretap cannot be divorced from the looming Iran issue. What else could explain the timing of a leak of a conversation which took place years ago? Leaking such a conversation would have little or no effect on the upcoming trial, but would affect the ability of supporters of Israel on Capital Hill from being heard in support of Israel's right of self-defense.

Supporters of Israel, particularly Jewish supporters such as Harman, always are at risk of a charge of dual loyalty. Playing the dual loyalty card has taken place almost as long as Israel has existed, but has come back in vogue in recent years. It is interesting that the source of the story refers to the person as a "suspected" agent of Israel, which means there likely is no hard evidence that the person was actually acting on behalf of the government of Israel, as opposed to merely being a supporter of Israel.

There is a legitimate debate over whether the U.S. should support, or at least not stop, an Israeli attack on Iran. Opposition to an attack is not itself playing the dual-loyalty card, or even anti-Israel. U.S. policy makers should do what they feel is in the U.S.'s best interest. But silencing debate through use of the dual-loyalty card reflects that some feel they cannot win that debate on the merits.

The right wing bloggers who jumped on this story were so played on this.

I consider colluding with the jihadi enemy shocking, illegal and dangerous, but will this Democrat Congressman be investigated and prosecuted? I think not.

Holocaust Day 5769 Devoted to Children in the Holocaust INN

Some faded photographs of a scattered few children remain, and their questioning, accusing eyes cry out on behalf of the 1.5 million children prevented from growing up and fulfilling their basic rights: to live, dream, love, play and laugh.

From the day the Nazis came to power, Jewish children became acquainted with cruelty, first in Germany and, as time passed, in every other country the Germans conquered or forged an alliance. The parents and families of these children were unable to grant them the security and protection they needed. Jewish children were separated from their non-Jewish playmates and expelled from state-sponsored schools. They saw their parents lose the right to support their families, and often witnessed the descent of the family unit into an abyss of despair.

As war broke out and antisemitic policies worsened, the suffering of Jewish children increased: many were doomed to the horrific suffering of life in the ghetto – the bitter cold, the never-ending hunger and a multitude of dangerous diseases. There, cut off from the world, they lived in the shadow of endless terror and violence. As smuggling was central to survival in the ghettos, they were often forced to assume the new role of breadwinner for their disintegrating families. Henrika Lazobert, a Jewish poet, wrote a paean to a daring young smuggler who, despite the risks, persevered in finding food for his family. The poem ends:

I shall no longer come back to you [mother]
… and only on my lips
will one worry freeze fast:
My beloved mother, tomorrow who’ll bring you
your piece of bread as in the past?

Still, children in the Holocaust remained children, desiring only to partake in activities beloved by all their contemporaries. In August 1940 David Rabinowitz, a young boy from a village near Kielce, Poland, wrote in his diary: “During the war, I’ve been studying by myself, at home. When I remember that I used to go to school, I feel like crying.”

When the deportations to the extermination camps began, a chasm opened up in the lives of Jewish children. Throughout Nazi Europe, they fled and hid, separated from their parents and loved ones. Some of them found refuge in the homes of decent people whose conscience would not allow them to remain passive; several were hidden in convents and monasteries and boarding schools; others were forced to roam through forests and villages, hunting for food like wild animals and relying entirely on their own ingenuity and resourcefulness. Many were forced to live under assumed identities, longingly anticipating the return of their father and mother. Some were so young when separated from their parents that they forgot their real names and Jewish identity. Many were forced to train themselves not to move, laugh or cry, or even talk. Upon liberation, one little girl asked her mother, “Mommy, may I cry now?”

Of course, not all Jewish children were lucky enough to find a place of refuge, and many tens of thousands of children were caught and sent to the death camps. Their young age made most the first prey of the Nazi killing machine.

The Durban conference became notorious for its unbridled attacks on Israel, led by Iran and a number of other Arab states.

This time, a number of countries are awaiting a final decision by America — which has agreed to send a delegation to Geneva for an organisational meeting in the next few days — before they clarify their position. Jewish NGOs held an informal meeting on Sunday before the start of the conference to agree their strategy.

They were waiting for the US -- the Brits didn't have the spine to stand up. They live on their knees.

Britain’s Foreign Office Minister Lord Malloch-Brown said on Tuesday: “If we can’t go forward now, we will withdraw. I was at the first conference. I have never seen such a disgraceful event in quite a long international life.”

And they are going!

Later, he said: “There are red lines that need to be made for us to participate. The US is in the same position as most of Europe. We are not going to stand idly by and allow this racist stuff to get through and be seen as acceptable. We are not going to have it.”

At a dinner for delegates on Monday night, Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said: “We will not send an Italian delegation [if it is the same as Durban 2001], but we will try to harmonise our position with other countries who are the friends of Jews. But we will leave a decision until the last minute.”

Italy is out.

Britain Will Attend Durban 2, Germany and Holland Will Not

(IsraelNN.com) Holland and Germany announced Sunday that they will boycott the ‘Durban 2’ conference in Geneva. The Dutch and Germans join Israel, the U.S., Canada, Australia and Italy in boycotting the United Nations event that will be opened on Monday with a speech by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The United States, Canada, Australia, Italy, Israel and the Netherlands have pulled out of the 2009 Durban Review Conference to be held in Geneva, Switzerland, Monday April 20 – Friday, April 24.

 Other nations such as Germany are waiting until the last moment to decide whether to participate or not.  U.S. President Barack Obama said on Sunday that the United States had decided to boycott the conference because the draft for the summit risked declaring "hypocritical allegations" against Israel.  The text affirms in total the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action from 2001. This text singled out Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians as racist.

The conference is chaired by Libya with Iran and Cuba serving as the vice chairs. [10] The Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is one of the few world leaders who are scheduled to address the gathering.

President Ahmadinejad has threatened to “wipe Israel off the map” and denies the Holocaust.[13] Iran is a major supporter of the terrorist organizations Hamas  and Hezbollah [15] and defied the international community by refusing to end its enrichment program.

A Hamas cleric who once participated in an international conference of "Imams and Rabbis for Peace" -- whose delegates vowed to "condemn any negative representation" of each other's religions -- has wholeheartedly espoused Hamas's racist ideology in a recent Friday sermon on Hamas TV.

Ironically, this latest profession of Hamas's genocidal racism was preached and broadcast at the start of the month in which the UN is meeting in the "Durban II" conference in Geneva to condemn Israel as being "racist."

According to the Hamas interpretation of Islam, the Jews are inherently evil, seek to rule the world, and are a threat to Muslims and all of humanity. Therefore they are destined to extermination. In the words of Hamas religious leader Ziad Abu Alhaj, "Hatred for Muhammad and Islam is in their [Jews'] souls, they are naturally disposed to it..."

He asserts that because of the Jews' inherent evil, the Jewish state, "Israel ... is a cancer that wants to rule the world." One can find the details of the Jews' plan in The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which he jokingly refers to as "The Protocols of the Imbeciles of Zion" (a play on words in Arabic). He concludes that the Jews are destined to be annihilated:

He is calling the Jews imbeciles? Now that's rich.

"The time will come, by Allah's will, when their property will be destroyed and their children will be exterminated, and no Jew or Zionist will be left on the face of this earth."

He also claims that the Jews wanted to murder Muhammad.

This imam, who is preaching the genocide of Jews, participated in the Second World Congress of Imams and Rabbis for Peace in 2006, which also featured many prominent rabbis from Israel. The final statement from the Seville conference included the pronouncement, ". . . We condemn any negative representation of these [religious beliefs and symbols], let alone any desecration, Heaven forbid. Similarly, we condemn any incitement against a faith or people, let alone any call for their elimination, and we urge authorities to do likewise."

Rabbis met with this guy? Typical.

UPDATE: KGS makes the point clear, "I respect PMW, but it has to be said. The Hamas are not interpreting Islam "in their way", which regards the Jews as the enemy of Islam. It IS Islam, which all the authoritative voices in Islamic orthodoxy give approval of, you need to look no further than to Grand Imam of Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Sheikh Muhammad Tantawi."

Now, with Iraq winding down, the left can focus on the real enemy - the Jews. Cindy Sheehag is taking her freak show on the road, doing "speaking tours". Why is it troubling? Cindy is a fringe hack - agreed. But I was there covering those anti-war rallies in 2003, 2004, 2005 etc., when those protests were a small group of fringe hacks. But the left is relentless. It doesn't matter how many attend. They do not stop until they achieve their goal. Look at America. Look who was elected just seven years after 9/11.

Peace activist Cindy Sheehan will be in Albuquerque this weekend for a series of talks. Sheehan is known for her protests of the Iraq war after her oldest son, Casey, was killed in combat in April 2004.

Sheehan will make three appearances while in New Mexico.

Her first is Saturday morning at 10 at the Albuquerque Center for Peace and Justice. Later on in the afternoon, she will join activists at the corner of Tulane and Central in Nob Hill at 1 p.m.

Sheehan's New Mexico visit wraps up Tuesday night at 7 p.m. with a public address at Smith Brasher Hall at CNM.

Pamela I am one of your readers who happened to take some photos you might find interesting. Today Cindy Sheehan started one of her speaking tours here in Albuquerque, NM and then attended a rally afterwards.

About 20 anti war, anti Israel protesters showed up to protest with her. It was published in the local paper but there was still a small turn out. I have noticed Sheehan and the protesters have turned from the anit war movement to primarily being anti Israel. I have included several pictures for you to use if you like.

Sweden and US Will Not Attend Racist Anti-Racism Conference Durban II UPDATE: Australia joins Boycott

RACIST ANTI-RACISM CONFERENCE SUFFERS ANOTHER BLOW: Sweden is boycotting Durban. I kid you not.

And Obama has followed Sweden's (!) lead. I kid you not.
Considering Sweden's continuing Jew hating incidents, this is a miracle. And considering  Obama's recent remarks concerning Israel, this is a day of miracles. Baruch Hashem!

Hours after the US said it would boycott a UN conference on racism next week over objectionable language in the meeting's final document that could single out Israel for criticism, Australia followed suit on Sunday morning, saying it was concerned the conference would be used as a platform for anti-Semitic views.

"Australia has decided not to participate in the Durban Review Conference," Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said in a statement. "The 2001 Declaration singled out Israel and the Middle East. Australia expressed strong concerns about this at the time."

"Regrettably, we cannot be confident that the Review Conference will not again be used as a platform to air offensive views, including anti-Semitic views," he continued.

On Saturday night, the State Department said that the Obama administration would "with regret" boycott the conference. It followed weeks of furious internal debate and fierce lobbying by Israel and Jewish groups against US participation.

Canada led they way. They boycotted this hate fest back in January 2008. Harper may very well emerge the new leader of the free world.

Professor Fired for Defending Israel Loses Court Case

Another one ends badly for free men. Very very badly. Back in late 2005 I posted on the egregious abuse suffered by De Paul university professor Thomas Klocek (this from Phyllis Chesler at the time):

Then there is the 2004 case of De Paul university professor Thomas Klocek. Professor Klocek, who had taught at De Paul University for fifteen years, visited a student fair on campus and engaged in dialogue with some Muslim student supporters of Hamas and Islamic Jihad. He defended Israel. He questioned whether Rachel Corrie had indeed been murdered in cold blood and whether Israelis were really treating Palestinians in the same way that Hitler treated the Jews -- as the Muslim students’ literature and posters claimed. He insisted that “the Israeli Armed Forces have exercised very careful restraint in their responses to what has been almost daily suicide bombings.” Whereupon eight students descended on the single professor. A verbal melee ensued. Despite their clear superiority in numbers, the students donned the garb of victims, complaining that they were “harassed” and "threatened.” They further alleged that Klocek had made “racist remarks.” The students met with their advisors who alerted various administrative deans. The deans wasted no time capitulating to the student agitators. They apologized to the offended students and suspended Professor Klocek. As of this writing, a lawsuit is under way.

That was back in 2005. Today I got very bad news for Marathon Pundit:

Judge throws out Thomas Klocek case against DePaul--appeal planned

This one hurts. A lot.

On September 15, 2004, longtime DePaul University adjunct Professor Thomas Klocek took part in a spirited out-of-classroom discussion with some Muslim DePaul students over Palestinian-Israeli political issues. Klocek defended Israeli actions against terrorists; the students, unaccustomed to having their views challenged, complained to his dean and succeeded in having Klocek dismissed from the Catholic college after 15 years of service.

The Chicago native had always received high evaluation scores from his students.

Klocek filed a defamation and invasion of privacy suit against DePaul a year later. The first two judges assigned to the case ruled that it should proceed to trial. But last month--four years after Klocek sued--Cook County Circuit Court Judge Charles Winkler dismissed the case.

Andy Norman of Chicago's Mauck & Baker is Klocek's attorney--he plans to appeal. Norman stated, "We believe that Winkler is in error and are confident we will have his decision reversed in the appellate court. We still look forward to a public trial where DePaul students and the public can judge for themselves whether certain administrators silenced Tom Klocek because a few Muslim activists wanted his opinions repressed."

I've spoken to Klocek many times about the events of September 15, 2004 and I'm firmly convinced that DePaul trashed his academic career to placate a noisy group of students who view themselves, wrongly, as a protected class.

… Klocek, who is Catholic, not Jewish, confronted a group of 8 students manning two tables for the groups Students for Justice in Palestine, and United Muslims Moving Ahead. Klocek says he argued that the materials the groups were disseminating were one-sided. On this, he is indisputably correct. Neither group pretends to provide balanced information on the Israeli Palestinian conflict. That of course, is perfectly understandable and acceptable. These are advocacy groups.

During his cafeteria confrontation with the students, Klocek did not identify himself as a professor at the school. He did not know any of the students, and had not had any of them in a class. After realizing that the argument needed to end, Klocek started to walk off. One student then asked if he taught at DePaul, and if so, what classes. The students followed Klocek, eager to continue arguing with him. He signaled he was done with the debate by thumbing his chin, meant to indicate, he says, enough already. The Muslim students later claimed this gesture was obscene.

For his behavior in this brief debate with the students, Klocek, a popular long-time DePaul professor, has lost his job, his health benefits, and has been smeared and humiliated by the University administration.

It has gotten so bad that Klocek has even been told not to pray at the campus chapel, which he formerly did regularly during his DePaul teaching stint. Such is the retribution of a Catholic University for a [Catholic] professor who has taken the risk of challenging the established mindset at DePaul on the subject of Israel and the Palestinians. [my emphasis — D]

Please look at the original post written in 2006. There are links to other degrading things that De Paul has done — for example, the story of their censorship of students who protested Ward Churchill’s appearance on campus. And I compare the slant-by-omission that the MSM [in this case, the Chicago Tribune] did in reporting the story with the American Thinker’s full version of what really happened.

I’ve been checking with other outlets to see if this latest development is being carried. Perhaps Andrea Shea King will interview Professor Klocek again, as she did back then. Maybe bigger blogs will move the story along.

Academic jihad has continued apace since Professor Klocek first spoke up. The drive to shut up anyone who does not agree with the multi-cultural, Saudi-funded point of view is, if anything, in higher gear than it was during his fateful encounter with the Muslim students.

Muslim worshipers destroyed Jewish prayer books at the cave  in the Israeli city of Hebron. The site, which is holy to both Jews and Muslims, was closed temporarily to Jews last week on the day when Muslims mark the birth of the prophet Muhammad.  Jewish worshipers who arrived at the site on Saturday morning found that Muslim worshipers had urinated near an Ark containing Torah Scrolls, and that Hamas flags had been thrown into the areas that mark the burial sites of the Matriarchs and Patriarchs.

On Al-Nas TV, Egyptian cleric Safwat Higazi calls to shut down all Starbucks in the Islamic world, saying their logo is of the Jewish Queen Esther.  He says, "Has any of you ever wondered who this woman with a crown on her head is? Why do we boycott Starbucks? I will tell you, so you will know why you should boycott this company, and what this logo stands for. The Jerusalem District Attorney's Office has filed an indictment against three Israeli Arabs accused of attempting to murder an American student at the Hebrew University in February. A fourth man involved in the attack will be charged separately.

According to the charge sheet released Tuesday, Ahmed Ouda, 28, Fathi Zeytun, 18, and Rabiya Jit, 21, all residents of the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan, along with Osama a-Razak, 19, pounced on the student while he walked through nearby Jerusalem Forest on his way to the campus dorms.

The student, who has been studying in Israel for 11 months, told police his attackers tried to slash his throat several times while beating him. The four managed to deeply cut the victim's right cheek before fleeing the scene.

The student, left alone and bleeding, carried on through the forest for 40 minutes by foot until he reached Dung Gate, where he called for help. He was evacuated to Sha'are Tzedek Hospital for treatment.

A postage stamp, a fingerprint and a Google search helped lead authorities to arrest a West Rogers Park man Friday on a charge he mailed a bomb threat to a Jewish school in late December.

Forensic investigators matched a fingerprint from the letter's envelope to Mohammed Alkaramla, authorities said.

During a search of Alkaramla's apartment last month, agents also found a book of postage stamps—bearing a design of two swans forming a heart shape, the same design as the stamp on the bomb threat letter. That particular stamp hadn't been produced in more than a decade, and the book found in a dresser drawer was missing one stamp, charges say.

Agents also seized a laptop computer from Alkaramla, and subsequent analysis of the computer's hard drive found the text of the threat letter and Google search terms such as "Bomb attack + Israel + letters," authorities said.

It also showed that Alkaramla had tried to find a sample of a threat letter online.

Alkaramla, 24, was taken into custody at his home in the 6000 block of North Artesian Avenue by the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force. A federal judge ordered the Jordanian national held in custody at least until a detention hearing on Tuesday.

Alkaramla was under investigation in the vandalism of several Chicago-area synagogues and Jewish schools in early January after Israeli airstrikes and troop incursions into the Gaza Strip in the Mideast. But Friday's criminal complaint said only that Alkaramla had mailed a bomb threat to Ida Crown Jewish Academy in Chicago in late December.

The letter threatened to set bombs at 22 Jewish educational centers in the Chicago area, but no explosives were found.

 A 25-year-old North Side man with dual U.S. and Jordanian citizenship was arrested this morning by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and accused of sending a threatening letter to an Orthodox Jewish high school late last year one in a series of anti-Semitic incidents in December and January targeting Jewish institutions on the North Side and in Lincolnwood following the Israeli invasion of Gaza.

Alkaramla will be held in custody pending a Tuesday detention hearing, after prosecutors argued Alkaramla poses a flight risk.

He was brought to court wearing a white T-shirt, pajama pants with a football pattern and sandals. His father also appeared at the hearing.

Alkaramla’s lawyer said his client just graduated last week from the Illinois Institute of Technology and lives at home with two sisters. Alkaramla has dual citizenship — U.S. and Jordanian — and was born in Jordan.

Arab Arrested For Jihad Threats In Boro Park Synagogue

An Arab male is currently being interrogated by the NYPD after screaming “Jihad threats” in a Boro Park Shul.

Highly credible sources tell YWN that sometime early Monday afternoon, a 36-year-old male entered the ‘Sephardish Shul’ located on 14th Avenue and 45th Street and began reading a paper with various “Jihad-type threats”

An Arab male is currently being interrogated by the NYPD after screaming “Jihad threats” in a Boro Park Shul.

Highly credible sources tell YWN that sometime early Monday afternoon, a 36-year-old male entered the ‘Sephardish Shul’ located on 14th Avenue and 45th Street and began reading a paper with various “Jihad-type threats”.

Thanks to the quick response of Boro Park Shomrim, the suspect was quickly apprehended, and was placed under arrest by officers of the NYPD’s 66th Precinct.

Detectives from the NYPD INTEL Division are currently speaking with the ‘Middle-Eastern man’ at the 66 Station-House.

Deputy Inspector Peter DiBlasio along with Brooklyn South Chief Joseph Fox reminds the community “if you see something, say something”.

I have strongly suggested to many different  so-called action groups, that we immediately institute a program of visits to every synagogue in the USA, on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, and rise in each congregation and - in dignified firm and unemotional voices - repeat “STOP THE KILLING”– We need to go in groups of 3-4, to insure that we have 1 person as a defensive shield, and one as a video camera witness, recording everything.

Jews especially should be doing these actions. We will face harsh treatment, and possibly physical attack, but our message must be resolute and continue week after week.

I see no possible legal impediment to this. The public, and certainly Jews- cannot be barred from entry to the services, and it will be extremely hard for the Synagogues to enforce exclusion. If they do, we can speak on the front steps, on the street, in the parking lot.

The Jews of America must be confronted with their clear responsibility- far more than complicity-in the mass murders, occupation, and forced starvation of the people of Palestine.
