Atlas readers will remember when the nasty misogynist over at Ace of Spades and the appropriately named weasel [zippers] viciously attacked me for exposing the Islamic curriculum Rick Perry had helped institute in the Texas schools.
Back in August 2011, I did my first post on the controversial Aga Khan/Rick Perry school curriculum on Islam for Texas public schools, I published the links (URLs) to the Muslim Histories and Cultures Program (MHC). The MHC page said proudly: "In April 2004, the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and UT-Austin finalized a grant proposal that created the partnership that became known as the Muslim Histories and Cultures Program (MHC).... Governor Perry was instrumental in getting this program off the ground."
There was no Christian program or Jewish program, no Hindu program, etc.
After I wrote extensively on the Islamic Texas curriculum, the right wing blogos went nuts. Vicious and unhinged, they attacked me for exposing their dream candidate, Rick Perry. Their sole source for refutation was David Stein. This man from out of nowhere -- with no history or blog cred or anything was the club they attempted to use. David Stein, who today was exposed as Holocaust Denier David Cole (more here).
As a combative twentysomething with tousled black hair, he was a vilified guest on chat shows hosted by Phil Donahue, Montel Williams and Morton Downey, among others, and was depicted as a neo-Nazi on news shows such as 60 Minutes and 48 Hours.
[...] the recanting was fake, he said. Cole today still challenges established Holocaust scholarship, including the certainty about Nazi gas chambers. (more at the Guardian)
And this despite The NY Times recent article that there over 42,000 Nazi concentration camps across Europe. That was Ace's idol.
UPDATE: Zilla nails it here. Sssssizzzlin'
Even one of my absolute faves, Weasel Zippers, jumped onto the Ace bandwagon to bash Pamela, but I still love the Weasel and I promise I will never stop reading his blog because it is awesome in a million different ways and, well, I just love it. Bottom line, my comments are all made in good faith with the rest of my conservative friends and colleagues and our hope for the future of our country.
I have already expressed my concerns regarding Perry’s views on immigration as I have witnessed personally in my family some of the consequences of poor immigration policy. I admit I come into this biased on the immigration issue and decided early I couldn’t support him as my choice in the primaries for that reason. (And basically because I was all Palin to begin with anyway.)
But I was really freaked out when Perry earned the much-coveted CAIR endorsement earlier this year. Why weren’t more of us worried about that? Surely this is something that should capture the attention of any conservative concerned about the rise of radical Islam in America and throughout the world.
So, without just posting links, I will do my best to explain why, after reading all of Ace’s postings, and all relevant writings from Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs, Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch, Justin Elliott from Salon, David Stein from Counter Contempt, Dave Reaboi from PajamasMedia, Moe Lane at RedState, Alana Goodman from Commentary, Tancredo on the Daily Caller, and many others, I have come to the conclusion that Governor Perry owes us an explanation. I do demand a serious explanation.
