Atlas reader Golem opines, "It's quite an apt and telling analogy that he chooses to use, the Christians in Lebanon. They were once the majority of the population and the state itself was created by the French to give Christians a safe haven and avoid Muslim persecution, however soon after the state was formed a large flood of illegal Muslim immigration occurred and Christians soon found themselves threatened sparking a long and bloody civil war lasting 15 years from 75-90 with over 120,000 fatalities. Now they are a small minority ruled by an Islamic terrorist group and very soon the Aarab spring" led by the Muslim Brotherhood is going to come their way from Syria.
"Is this the future for American conservatives? Chris Matthews seems to hope so."
Chris Matthews: Republicans Will Have To ‘Rig The Elections’ In Order To Win From Now On MediaiteFollowing President Obama‘s second inaugural speech, MSNBC host Chris Matthews suggested that because the Republican Party is now so unpopular, in order to win future elections they will have to “rig it” through new voter laws.“If states like Pennsylvania ever get controlled by Republican legislators, that is frightening,” Matthews said, implying those GOP-led legislatures will attempt to curb the voting rights of the largely Democratic black voting base within the states’ urban areas. Co-host Rachel Maddow agreed, adding that swing states like Illinois, Wisconsin, Virginia, and Ohio are other places where Republicans may attempt to “break up the bloc.”
“There’s so much willingness to rig the elections by the Republicans,” Matthews continued. “They know they’re heading into demographic trouble. They know they’re going to be a minority in this country. It’s almost like Lebanon — we’ve got to fake the census now, y’know?”
He concluded: “And what I see them doing is saying, ‘Okay, we know we’re never going to be popular again, so we’re going to have to rig it.”
