But newspaper and television coverage of fringe groups with messages seeking to inspire Muslim and Islamic fear and anger gave the groups "increased visibility and created the misperception they were mainstream organizations, and this perception enabled them to secure funding and build social networks that they may not been able to do otherwise," said Bail, a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill assistant sociology professor.
Chapel Hill. Yes, the same bigoted town that is running anti-semitic ads calling for the end of Israel while refusing to run our pro-freedom, pro-Israel ads.
Ball used plagiarism detection software to track the 1,084 press releases about Muslims from 120 organizations on more than 50,000 newspaper stories and television transcripts produced after the terrorist attacks in 2001 through 2008. Did Ball do the same for Hamas-CAIR press releases? The premise is so wholly ridiculous that only stealth jihadists and their quislings (like Ball) would have us believe that the media are in league with ....consevatives!
"They are now so much a part of the mainstream that they have been able to recast genuinely mainstream Muslim organizations as radicals,” Professor Ball said in an announcement promoting his study.
Oh yes, Spencer and I are so much a part of the mainstream. lml. But it was not we who "recast" Hamas-CAIR and ISNA as radicals and jihad/sharia promoters. No, the US government did that in the largest terrorist funding trial in our nation's history, the Holy Land Foundation trial.
Yesterday's IED bombing in the homeland (Arizona) is covered up and ignored by the media and by law enforcement officials, for fear of offending Muslims. And those of us who still have the testicular fortitude to cover jihad-related news are marginalized, demonized and accused of inciting “islamophobia” and or “anti-Muslim" backlash.
To the contrary, I think that the American people have been enormously tolerant and kind to Muslims in America. Considering what this nation has been through at the hands of the global jihad, it is amazing how generous America has been. Despite 9/11; the thwarted Times Square bombing; the Portland Christmas tree bombing; the Christmas underwear bomber; the massive plot to bomb New York City subways on the anniversary of 9/11; last week’s arrest of Muslim brothers in Florida who were plotting to use a weapon of mass destruction within the United States; last week’s arrest of an Islamic cell in California that was plotting to kill Americans overseas and in the United States; the plot by a Massachusetts Muslim to fly remote-controlled model planes packed with explosives into the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol; and so many other jihad plots in America over the last few years, there has been no backlash. None.
Think about it. Jihad attacks thwarted on an almost weekly basis, and the American people have not responded. What a testament to how civilized and tolerant we are as a culture and a society. All the blood, toil, treasure and human life fighting an enemy both here and on the ongoing wars in Afghanistan and to a much lesser extent Iraq, and still that we welcome Muslims to our shores, in our communities and cities.
But what do we get in return for our kindness and tolerance? More clubs to the head. False accusations of “backlash,” “intolerance,” “bigotry” and retribution against innocent people from Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas groups in the U.S. Why aren’t Muslim groups in the U.S. directing their barbs and arrows at the jihadists and not at their victims?
See Robert Spencer's exclusive Atlas article on this ridiculous piece here.
CAIR has attempted to intimidate the FBI and JTTF and dictate their choice of speakers, and in doing so retailed numerous false charges, defamation, distortions, and outright lies about me, SIOA, and Pamela Geller.
CAIR has a long record of duplicity and deception. Although it has received millions of dollars in donations from foreign Islamic entities, it has not registered as a foreign agent as required by the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), despite spreading Islamic supremacist propaganda within the United States.
Although it presents itself as a civil rights group, CAIR actually has numerous links to Islamic supremacist and jihad groups. CAIR founders Omar Ahmad and Niwad Awad (who still serves as CAIR's executive director) were present at a Hamas planning meeting in Philadelphia in 1993 where they and other Hamas operatives conspired to raise funds for Hamas and to promote jihad in the Middle East. CAIR has steadfastly refused to denounce Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups.
Several former CAIR officials have been convicted of various crimes related to jihad terror:
* Ghassan Elashi, founder of CAIR's Texas chapter, in 2009 received a 65-year prison sentence for funneling over $12 million from the Islamic charity known as the Holy Land Foundation to the jihad terrorist group Hamas, which is responsible for murdering hundreds of Israeli civilians
* Mousa Abu Marzook, a former CAIR official, was in 1995 designated by the U.S. government in 1995 as a "terrorist and Hamas leader." He now is a Hamas leader in Syria.
* Randall Royer, CAIR's former civil rights coordinator, in 2004 began serving a 20-year prison sentence for aiding al-Qaida and the Taliban against American troops in Afghanistan and recruiting for Lashkar e-Taiba, the jihadist group responsible for the 2008 Mumbai jihad massacres.
* Bassem Khafagi, CAIR's former community relations director, was arrested for involvement with the Islamic Assembly of North America, which was linked to al-Qaida. After pleading guilty to visa and bank fraud charges, Khafagi was deported.
* Rabih Haddad, a former CAIR fundraiser, was deported for his work with the Global Relief Foundation (which he co-founded), a terror-financing organization. In 1998 Omar Ahmad, CAIR's co-founder and longtime Board Chairman, said: "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth."
After he received unwelcome publicity as a result of this statement, Ahmad denied saying it, several years after the fact. However, the original reporter, Lisa Gardiner of the Fremont Argus, stands by her story.
CAIR's spokesman Ibrahim Hooper once said: "I wouldn't want to create the impression that I wouldn't like the government of the United States to be Islamic sometime in the future."

CAIR Releases Profile of Islamophobe Pamela Geller
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 9/10/12) -- The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today released the second in a series of Islamophobe profiles documenting the individuals and organizations involved in spreading anti-Muslim bias in the United States.
This profile examines Pamela Geller, the "caustic mouthpiece" of the Islamophobia movement. She was cited today in an exclusive report by Reuters news agency exposing the American anti-Islam groups that support the extremist anti-Muslim views of Dutch politician Geert Wilders. Geller is also the person behind anti-Islam public advertisements going up in cities nationwide.
CAIR's profile of Geller states in part:
"Geller's organization Stop the Islamization of America (SIOA) is designated as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which also named Geller as a member of the 'anti-Muslim inner circle.' The United States Patent and Trademark Office refused to grant SIOA a trademark because: 'The applied-for mark refers to Muslims in a disparaging manner because by definition it implies that conversion or conformity to Islam is something that needs to be stopped or caused to cease.'CAIR's Islamophobia Watch Department earlier produced a profile of David Yerushalmi, as well as an analysis of Rep. Peter King's anti-Muslim congressional hearings.
"SIOA is an outgrowth of a similar group in Europe that seeks to block the construction of mosques on that continent. Its sister organization, Stop the Islamization of Europe, 'considers Islamophobia to be the height of common sense.'"
CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
