An Atlas reader saw this post: Jewish Council for Urban Affairs Sticks Up for Jihad Savagery, Left-Wing Media Eats It Up, and wrote this outstanding letter to the Jewish Council for Urban Affairs:
Dear JCUA,
Respectfully, I must conclude that you have lost your minds.
I am gay and atheist, and I am horrified by the rise of institutionalized discrimination against LGBT in Islamic countries. I am convinced that the basic tenets of Islam mitigate against my existence. This is not a fringe movement in Islam; it is a core belief.
By itself, Islam's position that I have no right to exist would be deplorable, but coupled with Islam's other basic tenet, which is that civil justice must be administered according to religious principles, it is the most dangerous social force on our planet since the rise of fascism in Europe in the twentieth century.
I cannot coexist peacefully with Islam. Not because I would not wish to, but because it is impossible. The Quran is a blueprint for my destruction. It is, by definition, a hateful document because it mitigates for the eradication of identifiable groups based upon an idea.
The only way that I can coexist peacefully with Islam is for Islam to disavow the Quran. Obviously, that would imply the disbanding of Islam, since the Quran is the organizing principle.
Pamela Geller is not promoting hate speech. Pamela Geller doing the opposite; she is opposing hate speech. It is endlessly frustrating to me to see my fellow liberal thinkers twisting the situation so that she is accused of doing exactly what she is trying to prevent.
I am a very strong supporter of freedom of religion. I support the absolute right of every individual to believe whatever they want, and to be free from persecution because of their beliefs.
But freedom of religion can only be guaranteed on two conditions: one, that religion refrains from interfering with the affairs of state, and, two, that religion does not infringe the human rights of others.
Islam has clearly demonstrated that it intends to do neither.
I share with Israel a common fate were Islam free to follow its dictates. I must therefore stand with Israel and with Pamela Geller in opposing a threat to my existence.
A reasonable definition of "civilized" is a state that protects the rights of the minority no matter how disparate they might be from the beliefs of the majority. A reasonable definition of a "savage" is "one who seeks to harm others based upon instructions from an imaginary deity". I'll stick to that until someone can prove me wrong.
I support the advertising. You should, too.
