Amazon sells Nazi death camp puzzle

Europe descends deeper into the abyss. While the Holocaust was a German initiative, it was carried out by every nation in Europe, save for the Danes. There were Dutch Nazis, Polish Nazis; Europe as a continent decided it was a good idea to get rid of the Jews. Holland had the highest rate of collaboration with the Nazis, higher than any other country in Western Europe. 95% of Dutch Jews were murdered.

Caroline Glick said in a conversation with me a couple of years ago that the lesson the Europeans took away from the aftermath of WW2 is insidious. "The lesson that Europe had decided to avail itself to in the aftermath of Auschwitz, was not that evil is bad and that they behaved like monsters but rather that everything was caused by nationalism and therefore what we really need to do is have a European Union that will obviate our need for nationalism so that we can become this transnational gobbletygook and we'll all get together and therefore we won't have another Auschwitz.

"But really the lesson should have been is that we were evil and we have to be good. And that is the lesson we have to learn and and we have to be able and willing to make moral distinctions and stand up for the good and fight evil and that is something the Europeans refuse to do."

Nationalism isn't bad. American nationalism wasn't bad, has never been bad. British nationalism hasn't been bad. French nationalism isn't bad. Polish nationalism isn't bed. Czech nationalism wasn't bad.

The thing that was bad was that Germany which decided to embrace madness and evil as its central unifying characteristic under the Nazis. That is what the problem was, it was not nationalism per se. And its still not nationalism.

They took all the wrong lessons from WW2 and are applying them, while ignoring the only lesson that's really relevant from WW2, which is that you have to choose good and defend good and fight with the intention of defeating evil.

It is any wonder that Europe is sinking under the weight of the EU?

"This is a real slap in the face for concentration camp survivors and relatives of victims," conservative politician Gerda Hasselfeldt wrote in a letter to Amazon that was cited by Der Spiegel.

The 252-piece puzzle, being sold for $24.99 or 17.99 British pounds (about 20 euros), is sold as suitable for children aged eight and over.

It shows a picture of the crematorium at Dachau, where more than 200,000 Jews, gays, Roma, political opponents, the disabled and prisoners of war were imprisoned during World War II.

Between 32,000 and 43,000 people died in the Bavarian camp before it was liberated by US troops in April 1945.

"The Dachau memorial is a place of remembrance for the suffering of countless victims. It cannot be in Amazon's interest to sell such a game," wrote Hasselfeldt, parliamentary chief of the Christian Social Union of Bavaria, sister party of Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democratic Union.

It’s a pity that Rev. Jim Wallis didn’t get his group together to stand up when Christians, Hindus, and so many others were facing vicious persecution in Muslim countries. Where is Sojourners when Christians are victimized by jihad? Wallis is standing up for those who oppress and kill Christians.

"Up Close: Subway" Ad NEW YORK (WABC) --

Is it a message of hate, or free speech? Or both?

 We're talking about an ad in New York subway stations, widely seen as anti-Muslim, that's sparking strong reaction and pushback, including an arrest for vandalizing the controversial ads.

The ad reads "In any war between the civilized man and the savages, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad."

They are now posted in heavily trafficked areas such as Grand Central Station and Times Square.

We'll be joined by Pamela Geller, a conservative activist who created the ad.

She is the executive director of American Freedom Defense Initiative and Stop Islamization of America.

Also with us is Jim Wallis, chief executive officer of Sojourners, a Christian group which works to build alliances among people of different faiths.

Wallis says that people might get hurt because of Geller's ad. Note how thoroughly he has absorbed the dhimmi mindset: he assumes that if Muslims become violent, it is the fault of non-Muslims, who must adjust their behavior in order to placate them.

The host shows that he holds the same assumptions when he asks Geller why she is throwing a match into a powder keg. It doesn't seem to occur either to him or to Wallis that the only people responsible for the actions of violent Muslims are the violent Muslims who commit them.

Watch the clip. In it, Pamela Geller patiently explains to these cringing dhimmis elementary principles of the freedom of speech and the necessity not to kowtow to violent intimidation. She brilliantly skewers their tolerance of evil and eagerness to adopt dhimmi self-censorship to save their miserable skins.

More and more people in the public square are demonstrating an inability to grasp this basic point, and that bodes quite ill: the principle is being reinforced that all Muslims or anyone else have to do in order to silence speech that they don't like is start acting violently. Alan Dershowitz takes apart this idea in an excellent piece about the MTA's new regulations, which state that ads will be barred if people may react violently to them. Says Dershowitz: the new regulation "incentivizes people to engage in violence. What it says to people, is that if they don’t like ads, just engage in violence and then we’ll take the ads down."

We have already begun the process of testing this unconstitutional new regulation.

Pamela Geller will never stop talking. Nor will I. We will never accept dhimmitude and submission. We will never bow to violent intimidation. Jim Wallis and other dhimmi Christians and Jews ought to be deeply, deeply ashamed of the stance they've taken: they have validated and encouraged violence, hatred and oppression. If free people and free societies survive, they will be looked upon as suicidal fools.

You can’t say “savage” on Fox News Channel.

This morning, Jamie Colby, a Fox News anchor, explained to the audience that she could not bring herself to quote the ad, formulated by Pamela Geller, which, upon a judge’s orders, is now placed on subways in NYC and other venues.  For Ms. Colby, the words (later described as “fighting words” by her guests) were simply unmentionable in polite company. I gather from the ad that the word “savage” (along with “savages”?) takes its place with F-bombs and other evil expletives.

Here is the advertisement, part of which is a quotation from Ayn Rand:

Geller’s ad was responding to anti-Israel ads that had been placed in New York City subways for several years, and had to sue the MTA to get it posted. It was not that long ago that a Harvard professor as prestigious as F. O. Matthiessen could divide up humanity into the civilized and the savage, seeing this as a core conflict around which one could write literary history. What is at issue here is the ongoing victory of the forces of political correctness. The ad in contention nowhere says that all Muslims are enemies of Israel; rather it singles out jihadists, about whose intentions to wipe Israel off the map, no one should be in doubt.

Nairobi, Kenya (CNN) -- One child died and several others were hurt in a grenade attack on a children's Sunday-school class in Kenya, the Kenya Red Cross said.

A Kenyan hospital reported seven children wounded.

The Kenya Red Cross and local media described the incident at St. Polycarp church in Nairobi as a grenade attack. Government officials did not answer repeated telephone calls from CNN seeking comment.

Four injured children were admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital -- two for treatment of critical wounds, said Dr. Mutie Thomas, the hospital's senior assistant director.

Doctors treated and released another three people, Thomas said.

The injuries involve soft tissue damage, head wounds and broken bones, Thomas said.

The children were between the ages of 7 and 10.

The Kenya Red Cross tweeted that one child died, and that "six critical children" were taken to a hospital.

Such attacks have escalated since Kenyan forces invaded neighboring Somalia last year to battle the Islamist militant group al-Shabaab, blaming it for kidnappings of foreigners in the nation.

All of us who cherish Western free speech, particularly when it elucidates irrefragable truths, owe an enormous debt to journalist and author Pamela Geller.

With courageous tenacity, and unflappable poise (listen to former New York Governor David Paterson’s own eyewitness account of her appearance at the New York Metropolitan Transportation [MTA] Authority board meeting, 9/27/12 ), Ms. Geller obtained permission to post advertisements in the New York City subway system that appositely characterize the Palestinian Muslim—and larger global Muslim umma’s—annihilationist jihad against Israel.

An earlier advertising campaign allowed by the MTA promulgated the ahistorical, Islamic supremacist narrative: that all of historical Palestine remains the “fay territory,” or booty, of its 7^th century Muslim jihad conquerors who massacred, pillaged, deported, and enslaved the indigenous non-Arab Christian, Jewish, and Samaritan communities; ignored the fact that in 1922, 78% of the League of Nations Mandate for a Jewish Palestinian homeland was arbitrarily used to create a Judenrein by law Muslim state, i.e. “Trans-Jordan” (see contemporary Jordan’s law no. 6, sect. 3, April 3, 1954, reactivated in law no. 7, sect. 2, on April 1, 1963; p. 119, n 82); claimed that since 1948, Israel’s defensive wars of survival deprived the would-be murderous Palestinian Muslim community (abetted by Muslim nation armies, and jihadist volunteers, in the Middle East, and beyond) of some of the remaining disputed territory, while being responsible for “4.5 million Palestinian refugees”— at least six-fold the actual number of perhaps 750,000, and oblivious to the fact 900,000 Jews in Muslim lands, well removed from the battlegrounds in historical Palestine, were simultaneously made refugees via murderous pogroms, expropriations, and expulsions, between 1948 and 1967.

Geller crafted a response to these mendacious anti-Israel ads, and overcame the MTA’s initial refusal to post her ad, with a successful legal challenge. The anti-jihad ad (just below) paraphrases Ayn Rand’s astute, if blunt comments about Palestinian irredentism during a 1979 appearance on Phil Donahue’s show, while, affirming, correctly, the jihad war being waged against Israel.

The jihad pathology identified and held up for opprobrium in Geller’s ad was captured in this graphic discussion of jihadist carnage “celebrations” by the Palestinian Muslim masses, excerpted from Dr. Raphael Israeli’s 2003 book Islamikaze—Manifestations of Islamic Martyrology:

…few outsiders have paid attention to the makeshift stage, erected at the terminal of those processions, which bring to their climax the celebrations. Often the latest target they destroyed, for example an Israeli bus loaded with dozens of passengers on board, is meticulously reconstructed in paper, cardboard and cloth, painted so as to imitate the original, and then set ablaze to the lunatic cries of delight of the watching crowds. All the while, the perpetrators of the actual horror against the real Israeli bus, or more often their successors, who wished to cultivate the “heritage” of the deceased Islamikaze, run around the stage in frenzy, shoot long bursts in the air as if possessed by some other worldly power, shout blood-chilling war cries, repeatedly invoke the Power of Allah, smash the burned carcass of the bus and stab with bayonets the “remnants” of the slain “passenger,” whom they, or their fellow kamikaze had earlier slain in reality.

Even these horrendous scenes, taken from a different reality than the one known to civilized people, can be “improved upon” by the Hamas. In Nablus, during the Palestinian Intifadah that broke out in October 2000, a most disturbing “exhibition” was presented to the general public in the city public square, which showed in inhuman detail the replicas of blown-up limbs and body pieces of Israelis who had perished in a restaurant by Hamas Islamikaze. It was only the reports of the deeply disgusted foreign correspondents, and the protests of the Israelis who did not want to relive that horro by seeing it replicated on the screens, which convinced the Palestinian Authority to move the exhibition indoors, not to close it down, and arrest its promoters.

Moreover hard data confirm the ongoing implacable, murderous irredentism of Israel’s Palestinian Muslim “peace partners.”

During July 2011, American pollster Stanley Greenberg reported the findings from what was described as an “intensive, face-to-face survey in Arabic of 1,010 Palestinian adults in Judea-Samaria, and the Gaza Strip.”

Here are the two most salient, pathognomonic survey results which further validate the underlying veracity of Geller’s anti-jihad ad:

First, 73% of the Palestinians surveyed agree with the annihilationist dictates of this canonical hadith (the words and deeds of Islam’s prophet Muhammad which have a weight often equal to the Koran), quoted in the Hamas Covenant.

As characterized in the hadith, Muslim eschatology — end of times theology — highlights the Jews’ supreme hostility to Islam. Jews are described as adherents of the Dajjâl – the Muslim equivalent of the Anti-Christ – or according to another tradition, the Dajjâl is himself Jewish. At his appearance, other traditions maintain that the Dajjâl will be accompanied by 70,000 Jews from Isfahan, or Jerusalem, wrapped in their robes, and armed with polished sabers, their heads covered with a sort of veil. When the Dajjâl is defeated, his Jewish companions will be slaughtered — everything will deliver them up except for the so-called gharkad tree, as per the canonical hadith (Sahih Muslim, Book 41, Number 6985) included in the 1988 Hamas Covenant (in article 7). The hadith — which three-fourths of those surveyed agree should be acted upon — is cited in the Covenant as a sacralized, obligatory call for a Muslim genocide of the Jews:

…the Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to realize the promise of Allah, no matter how long it takes. The Prophet, Allah’s prayer and peace be upon him, says: “The hour of judgment shall not come until the Muslims fight the Jews and kill them, so that the Jews hide behind trees and stones, and each tree and stone will say: ‘Oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him,’ except for the Gharqad tree, for it is the tree of the Jews.” (Sahih Muslim, Book 41, Number 6985)

Barack Obama and General John Allen should be prosecuted for the deaths of every one of the fifty troops murdered by their Afghan "allies" this year. They are all victims of the politically correct unwillingness to accept unpleasant realities about Islam: that it teaches hatred of and warfare against unbelievers, the virtue of deceit in war, and the impermissibility of cooperating with or allying with infidels on a permanent and lasting basis. An Afghan soldier turned his gun on American troops at a checkpoint in the country's east, killing two Americans and at least two fellow members of Afghanistan's army in a shooting that marked both the continuance of a disturbing trend of insider attacks and the 2,000th U.S. troop death in the long-running war, officials said Sunday.

The string of insider attacks is one of the greatest threats to NATO's mission in the country, endangering a partnership key to training up Afghan security forces and withdrawing international troops.

Saturday's shooting took place at an Afghan army checkpoint just outside a joint U.S.-Afghan base in Wardak province, said Shahidullah Shahid, a provincial government spokesman.

"Initial reports indicate that a misunderstanding happened between Afghan army soldiers and American soldiers," Shahid said. He said investigators had been sent to the site to try to figure out what happened....

Afghan soldiers and policemen -- or militants in their uniforms -- have gunned down more than 50 foreign troops so far this year, eroding the trust between coalition forces and their Afghan partners. An equal number of Afghan policemen and soldiers also died in these attacks, giving them reason as well to be suspicious of possible infiltrators within their ranks.

The attacks are taking a toll on the partnership between international and Afghan forces, prompting the U.S. military to restrict operations with small-sized Afghan units earlier this month.

The military didn't restrict them enough.

The close contact -- with coalition forces working side by side with Afghan troops as advisers, mentors and trainers -- is a key part of the U.S. strategy for preparing the Afghans to take the lead in security operations as the U.S. and other nations prepare to pull out their last combat troops at the end of 2014, just 27 months away....

And obviously it's working very, very well.

#Savage Jihad Attacks in Thailand: Six Dead, Dozens Injured

Jihad savagery continues to claim lives all over the planet, while the UN discusses making it a criminal offense to talk about it.

BANGKOK (AFP) - Bombing and shooting attacks have killed six people and left 27 wounded across the restive Thai south in two days of violence in the insurgency-plagued region, police said Sunday.

Five people were gunned down and over two dozen injured in a spate of incidents Saturday that spanned all three provinces in Thailand's Muslim-majority south where an eight-year conflict has claimed thousands of lives.

In Pattani, unknown gunmen shot dead a Muslim policeman, a 74-year-old Buddhist and a Muslim security volunteer in different attacks.

Another shooting in Yala targetted a Buddhist couple on their way to the local market, leaving the wife dead and the husband injured. A similar incident in Narathiwat saw a man and wife -- both security volunteers on their way to a shooting training session -- shot, killing the woman and wounding her husband.

Also in Narathiwat, suspected militants fired two M-79 grenades into a busy local market festival, causing injuries to 23 people, although police said none was thought to be serious.

In fresh attack early Sunday, one 18-year-old Muslim man was found shot dead in Yala, while a mother and daughter were also attacked and injured by gunmen in a separate incident in the same province....

A leaflet campaign warning of violent repercussions for shops and restaurants opening on the Islamic prayer day led the vast majority of business in major towns to shutter their operations last Friday.

Drunk with Power: Obama family 'costs taxpayers $1.4 BILLION per year'

$1.4 billion. Wow. I am not surprised at the Obamas' utter contempt and scorn for the hard-working American taxpayer, but the media's silence on this is criminal. Who can forget the grand mal seizure the frothing media had when Sarah Palin had the audacity to wear a couple of new suits while campaigning. Oh, the sturm and drang over a clothing budget -- the whole of which was rivaled by the price of one of Michelle's daily costume changes.

And the economy sinks deeper and deeper into an unprecedented economic abyss under his spend-and-burn fiscal tsunami.

Politicians looking for savings to deal with the national debt crisis should perhaps start by abolishing the President.

Barack Obama and his family cost the taxpayer $1.4billion per year, according to a recently published book.

By contrast, the British Royal Family costs less than $60million each year.

Two of the principal costs of the the Obama presidency - and any other presidency - are staffing and security, according to Robert Keith Gray's book Presidential Perks Gone Royal.

When it comes to keeping the First Family safe, few would dispute that it is worth paying a high price to keep the President safe from harm.

This means paying for hundreds of Secret Service agents, travel in the secure space of Air Force and funding a team of doctors to follow Mr Obama around.

But even this essential expense can be exploited to political ends, according to Mr Gray, a former staffer for Dwight Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

When the President travels around the country on campaign, he is obliged to take Air Force One. His party reimburses the taxpayer with the cost of a first-class air ticket per passenger - but this is far from the full cost to taxpayers. It also provides a President running for re-election with a national transport network which is unavailable to his challenger.

Moreover, much of the money spent on Mr Obama's family goes to perks such as entertainment and household expenses. For example, the White House contains a movie theatre which is manned by projectionists 24 hours a day in case one of the family feels like a trip to the cinema.

And even the Obamas' dog Bo costs the taxpayer thousands of dollars - his handler is reportedly paid over $100,000 a year.

Another huge presidential outgoing, according to Mr Gray, comes in the form of staff members who can be appointed by the commander-in-chief at his own personal discretion.

226 members of Mr Obama's staff are apparently paid over $100,000 - and the President can increase their salaries at any time.

As the West continues to abridge its freedoms, sanction the most violent and extreme ideology on the face of the earth, and destroy those who dare speak against the sharia, the global jihad rages on ........ burning, slaughtering and making life hell on earth for non-Muslims in Muslim countries.

COX'S BAZAR, Bangladesh — Thousands of Bangladeshi Muslims angry over an alleged derogatory photo of the Islamic holy book Quran on Facebook set fires in at least 10 Buddhist temples and 40 homes near the southern border with Myanmar, authorities said Sunday.

The violence began late Saturday and continued until early Sunday, said Nojibul Islam, a police chief in the coastal district of Cox's Bazar.

He said the situation was under control Sunday afternoon after extra security officials were deployed and the government banned public gatherings in the troubled area.

He said at least 20 people were injured in the attacks that followed the posting of a Facebook photo of a burned copy of the Quran. The rioters blamed the photo on a local Buddhist boy, though it was not immediately clear if the boy actually posted the photo.

Bangladesh's popular English-language Daily Star newspaper quoted the boy as saying that the photo was mistakenly tagged on his Facebook profile. The newspaper reported that soon after the violence broke out, the boy's Facebook account was closed and police escorted him and his mother to safety.

Joinul Bari, chief government administrator in Cox's Bazar district, said authorities detained the boy's parents and were investigating.

Buddhists make up less than 1 percent of Muslim-majority Bangladesh's 150 million people.

The Bangladeshi violence follows protests that erupted in Muslim countries over the past month after a low-budget film, "Innocence of Muslims," produced by a U.S. citizen denigrated the Prophet Muhammad by portraying Islam's holiest figure as a fraud, womanizer and child molester.

Some two dozen demonstrators were killed in protests that attacked symbols of U.S. and the West, including diplomatic compounds.

Largest Islamic World Body calls for global law against criticizing Muhammad

It took centuries of intellectual, philosophical development to achieve political freedom. It was a long struggle, stretching from Aristotle to John Locke to the Founding Fathers. The system they established was not based on unlimited majority rule, but on its opposite: on individual rights, which were not to be alienated by majority vote or minority plotting. Now, not so much. Last week, Obama attacked ‘those who slander the Prophet of Islam’ at the UN General Assembly. The "free press" ignored it, but it was a seismic historical moment. And now the world's largest Islamic supremacist workd body, the OIC, is calling for worldwide blasphemy laws.

The OIC is one of the largest intergovernmental organizations in the world. It encompasses 56 Muslim states plus the Palestinian Authority. Spread over four continents, it claims to speak in the name of the ummah (the universal Muslim community), which numbers about 1.3 billion. The OIC’s mission is to unite all Muslims worldwide by rooting them in the Koran and the Sunnah — the core of traditional Islamic civilization and values. It aims at strengthening solidarity and cooperation among all its members, in order to protect the interests of Muslims everywhere and to galvanize the ummah into a unified body.  The OIC is a unique organization — one that has no equivalent in the world. It unites the religious, economic, military, and political strength of 56 states.

Ten years ago, twenty, thirty .... this would have been unheard of, laughed at (and rightly so) from the hallowed halls of the White House to the dirt roads of the corn belt. Now it is being debated and considered. How far we have fallen from the once-great, enlightened ideal of the individual's freedom from physical compulsion.

The OIC has massive funding from oil sources, which it lavishly spends on the Western media and academia and in countless “dialogues.” It influences Western policy, laws, and even textbooks through pressures brought by Muslim immigrants and by the Western nations’ own leftist parties.

The OIC is nothing less than a “would-be, universal caliphate.” It might look different from the caliphates of the Ottomans, Fatimids, and Abbasids. It might resemble, instead, a thoroughly modern trans-national bureaucracy. But, already, the OIC exercises significant power through the United Nations, and through the European Union, which has been eager to accommodate the OIC while simultaneously endowing the U.N. with increasing authority for global governance.(Bat Ye'or)

It is not hard to know how Obama's special envoy to the OIC is advising him. Obama's special envoy to the OIC, Rashad Hussain, is a hafiz. A hafiz is a devout Muslim who has committed the Koran to memory. This impresses Obama enormously; he often brags about it.....

Will America submit gently to the most radical and extreme ideology on the planet? I think not. Freedom of speech is the line in the sand. This is the stuff of civil war. And free men will fight to the death for our freedoms and unalienable human rights.

"Islamic group calls for ban on offending prophet" Huffington Post

UNITED NATIONS — The head of a leading Islamic organization Saturday called for a global ban on offending the character of the Prophet Muhammad, saying that it should be equated with hate speech.

Such a ban would demonstrate how an interconnected world respected different cultural sensitivities, said Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in an interview with The Associated Press.

"If the Western world fails to understand the sensitivity of the Muslim world, then we are in trouble," Ihsanoglu said. Such provocations pose "a threat to international peace and security and the sanctity of life."

Ihsanoglu's remarks follow protests that erupted in Muslim countries after a low-budget film, "Innocence of Muslims," produced by a U.S. citizen denigrated the Prophet Muhammad by portraying Islam's holiest figure as a fraud, womanizer and child molester.

Some two dozen demonstrators were killed in protests that attacked symbols of U.S. and the West, including diplomatic compounds. The U.S. Ambassador to Libya and three of his colleagues were killed in an attack on their compound in the eastern city of Benghazi during the same time.

Many of the protests were led or provoked by hardline puritan Muslims, who form small but growing minorities throughout the Islamic world.

Ihsanoglu, whose organization represents 57 Muslim-majority countries, said they respect the right of freedom of expression, but believed a line had to be drawn at incitement.

"We are not saying stop free speech. We are staying stop hate speech," Ihsanoglu said.

While European leaders and U.S. President Barack Obama have sharply condemned the film, they also have defended the importance of free speech even if it allows extremists to broadcast offensive views.

Still, it appeared difficult to see how such a provision proposed by Ihsanoglu could ever work – even if it was agreed to – because of the easy access to social media websites on the Internet that can be used to spread offensive material. Excerpts from "Innocence of Muslims" were posted on YouTube.

Ihsanoglu said his call for a ban did not imply he was rewarding violent protesters, whom he sharply condemned.

Instead, he said such a ban would show a global sensitivity to the veneration which 1.5 billion Muslims have for the Prophet Muhammad. He said he was not calling for a ban on criticizing Islam, but specifically, on denigrating its founding prophet.

"You have to see that there is a provocation. You should understand the psychology of people who revere their prophet and don't want people to insult him," he said.

Ihsanoglu's call also echoed the views of other moderate Muslim scholars and leaders, who have urged the U.N. and international bodies to define global standards on religious expression and to help prevent incitement – particularly Islamaphobia.

Dershowitz: Amended MTA rules "Unconstitutional" and "it's going to encourage violence"

And while I am no fan of Dershowitz, in this he is absolutely correct. "It incentivizes people to engage in violence. What it says to people, is that if they don’t like ads, just engage in violence and then we’ll take the ads down.”

Exclusive: Alan Dershowitz Calls Amended M.T.A. Advertising Rules “Plain Dumb” and “Unconstitutional” Algemeiner

In an interview with The Algemeiner, Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz  slammed new approved advertising guidelines announced by the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority, calling them “Plain Dumb” and “Unconstitutional.”

The new rules allow the M.T.A. to ban ads that it “reasonably foresees would imminently incite or provoke violence or other immediate breach of the peace.”

“A. it’s clearly unconstitutional” he said, and “b. it incentivizes people to engage in violence. What it says to people, is that if they don’t like ads, just engage in violence and then we’ll take the ads down.”

“It’s very bad policy,” he continued, “and it’s just plain dumb, because it is going to encourage violence.”

Responding to the charge in an interview with The Algemeiner, M.T.A. spokesperson Aaron Donovan declined to comment.

The new M.T.A. rules, announced yesterday, came after pro-Israel ads, which were initially rejected by the M.T.A., ran in ten New York City subway stations, after the group running the ads sued the M.T.A on first amendment grounds.

Protesters objecting to the ads set about defacing them, including in one widely reported incident where Egyptian-American activist Mona Eltahawy was charged with criminal mischief misdemeanor for spraying one with pink paint. Referencing the incident, Dershowitz said, “what the transit authority is doing, is giving people like Mona, the power to censor.”

Referring to the recent uptick in violence in the Middle East, Dershowitz added, “It is the worst possible approach to dealing with radical Islam.”

“In the age of radical imams whipping up reactions, it just gives them more encouragement to do it. So if somebody wants to put up a picture of Mohammed in the subway, all people have to do is threaten violence and its censorship comes into effect,” he said.

The Law Professor also made clear that he is certain the decision will face legal challenges. “It will be challenged, there is no question about that,” he confirmed, “if the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) doesn’t get into this case immediately, they are going to have to write to me several times for my contribution this year. This is a perfect case for the ACLU, the ACLU should be in there, opposed to the MTA.”

“I would hope the ACLU would get behind the organization that put up the ads even though I’m sure they disagree with the content of the ads, as do I,” he concluded.

When asked by The Algemeiner if they had considered the constitutionality of their decision, M.T.A. spokesperson Aaron Donovan said that he wasn’t concerned. “All of the changes that were made to the guidelines, were made within the framework of our understanding of First Amendment law, we feel the guidelines as they have been amended are firmly planted in the bedrock of the constitution, specifically the First Amendment,” he said.

Asked about the M.T.A’s concern over the threat of further lawsuits, he said, “it’s impossible to predict the future.”

More of Obama's anti-freedom, pro-jihad foreign policy. Scary stuff, kids. Omar Khadr is returning to Canada. He is an enemy of the state, a Muslim soldier in the global jihad. He should have rotted in GITMO, if not faced a firing squad. No, instead Obama cut his sentence down from 40 years to 8 years, and then
asked the Canadian government to take Khadr.

Khadr killed Sergeant First Class (SFC) Christopher James Speer (September 9, 1973 – August 6, 2002). Speer was a combat medic with a Delta Force. Speer was awarded the Soldier's Medal for risking his life to save two Afghan children who were trapped in a minefield on July 21, 2002, two weeks before his death.

The Obama adminstration was angry when Canada's Public Safety Minister Vic Toews failed to act on Khadr’s application for transfer. Senior Obama administration officials told the Star last week that Washington’s patience with Ottawa was wearing thin and the Khadr case was jeopardizing future relations between the countries.

Khadr killed an American soldier -- and Obama freed him. Muhammadan in the White House.

"Omar Khadr repatriated to Canada" The Star

Guantanamo prisoner Omar Khadr, the Toronto-born detainee whose decade-long case has bitterly divided Canadians, is on his way home to serve the remainder of his sentence.

The Toronto Star has learned that the 26-year-old prisoner was flown off the U.S. Naval base on Cuba’s southeast shore and expected to arrive in Canada early Saturday morning.

Guantanamo officials notified Khadr of his transfer Wednesday, assuring him he would be repatriated by the end of the weekend, a Pentagon source said.

Just where Khadr will be incarcerated – or where the U.S. military flight will land – continues to be a closely guarded secret.

But a Canadian government source told the Star in an interview earlier this year that the Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines’ maximum-security facility, near Montreal, was a strong possibility. The prison’s Special Handling Unit, nicknamed “the SHU,” houses the majority of Canada’s prisoners convicted of terrorism offences.

More information on his whereabouts is likely to be released once he arrives on Canadian soil. The Khadr saga began more than a decade ago, in June 2002, on a battlefield in Afghanistan. The 15-year-old was shot and captured by an American Special Forces unit following a lengthy battle where U.S. Delta Force Sgt. Christopher Speer was fatally wounded.

Khadr is the second youngest son of now deceased Egyptian-born Canadian, Ahmed Said Khadr, who was close with Al Qaeda’s elite. The Khadr family’s unpopularity overshadowed much of his case.

In October 2010, Khadr pleaded guilty before a Guantanamo military tribunal to five war crimes, including “murder in the violation of war” for Speer’s death. He received an 8-year-sentence and a diplomatic agreement from Ottawa that after one more year he would be transferred to Canada in return for the plea deal.

Yet the guilty plea did little to change public opinion on the case. Some believe pleading guilty was the Canadian’s only way out of the detention facility where he had spent a third of his life. Others argue the sentence was too lenient and urged Ottawa to refuse his transfer request.

Navy Capt. John Murphy, Guantanamo’s chief prosecutor, told reporters following Khadr’s trial that he felt justice had been served. While he maintained Khadr’s juvenile status did not merit special consideration during the trial, he conceded it was important in sentencing.

“I think good prosecutors don’t always strive to get the greatest possible sentence but they balance interests,” Murphy said, adding, “I was very comfortable that the result we achieved was fair to everyone.”

But the case once again became politically charged this year - much to Washington’s consternation - as Public Safety Minister Vic Toews failed to act on Khadr’s application for transfer. Khadr’s lawyers accused the government of “abuse of process” for deliberately delaying a decision and made an application to the federal court.

Senior Obama administration officials told the Star last week that Washington’s patience with Ottawa was wearing thin and the Khadr case was jeopardizing future relations between the countries – although it is not clear if this pressured Ottawa to act.

Under Canada law, Khadr will now be eligible to apply for parole by next summer. In 2008, Khadr’s lawyers proposed a rehabilitation plan that included psychiatric treatment at Toronto's Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, religious counselling by a local imam and a tiered integration program that would see Khadr closely monitored for as long as four years.

However the government has given no indication that there is any formal plan in place for Khadr during his incarceration and has refused to answer questions on the case.
