This just in from SIOG (Stop Islamization of Georgia) leader Joseph Zaalishvili, reporting the latest victory for SION and a coalition of freedom-loving people.
Joseph Zaalishvili is scheduled to speak at the SION first-ever World Freedom Congress on September 11, 2012, but the State Department is withholding a visa -- I will keep you posted on this.
SION and free people again achieved the goal: Azerbaijani border guards have left the territory of Georgia and the Christian monastery of David Gareji
After several days of intensive talks among the political parties and society in Georgia, there began a big campaign for the liberation of the territory of the Christian monastery of David Gareji.
Many people have expressed their desire to walk ten kilometers in order to prove to the Georgian government and the Azerbaijani government that the people will not tolerate Azerbaijani military personnel in Georgia and in the monastery.
Although Azerbaijan claims that some portions of the first Georgian monastery are in the territory of Azerbaijan, the activity of the people changed their minds about pursuing this action of the Azerbaijani military.
Azerbaijani military forces left the territory of the monastery after the publication of information about their action on the blog AtlasShrugs.com.
One may ask: what can a little information published in a blog 10 thousand kilometers away from Georgia accomplish? I am not saying that the Azerbaijani military acted because of Atlas Shrugs. But I can say that the post raised our spirits and proved that we are not alone. It also proves the necessity of combining in our efforts to protect our rights and freedoms. The support of SION has a great positive effect on the free people of Georgia.
