Mohammed Merah, a 24-year-old French Muslim, shot Jewish children in cold blood at a Jewish Day School in Toulouse, France. Will there be discussion of Islamic Jew-hatred? No. Will there be discussion of how the very existence of Israel is offensive to Muslims? No. Will there be discussion of expunging the quran of the violent texts that command Jewish genocide? No. But Obama says, "respect it!"

The government has ordered the dissolution of a domestic Islamist group, saying that it was a terrorist organization training its members “for armed combat,” Interior Minister Claude Guéant said Monday. The Web site of the group, Forsane Alizza or “The Knights of Pride,” says its aim is to fight Islamophobia. The Web site is laced with anti-Semitic material and postings supporting organizations that are widely deemed to be terrorist groups, including the Afghan Taliban. A recent recruitment appeal by Forsane Alizza called for “soldiers,” and the group acknowledges some violent aims, in particular in the defense of Muslim women. The group gained attention last year through demonstrations against a French law banning the wearing of the full facial veil in public. A cofounder of the group, Mohammed Achamlane, said it would contest the dissolution order in court. “This is truly farcical,” he said in a telephone interview from Nantes in western France. “They have absolutely nothing against us.”

NY TIMES: TOULOUSE, France — Elite police officers raided a residence in Toulouse early Wednesday in pursuit of a 24-year-old man claiming ties to Al Qaeda and suspected in the killings this week of three young children and a rabbi at a nearby Jewish school, French officials said.The man told police negotiators that those killings, as well as the shooting deaths of three French soldiers in recent days, were meant to avenge the deaths of Palestinian children and to protest French involvement in the Afghanistan war, according to investigators and Interior Minister Claude Guéant, who was at the site of the raid on Wednesday morning.

The suspect fired several times at security forces ringing the residence in which he had barricaded himself in the neighborhood of Côte Pavée, about two miles south of the Jewish school where the four people were killed on Monday. Two officers were wounded, Mr. Guéant said.
Police officials were attempting to negotiate with the suspect and had brought his mother to the residence in the hope she would help convince him to surrender but she declined to speak the suspect, Mr. Guéant said.
He also said that the suspect’s brother had been arrested but his whereabouts were not immediately known.
Mr. Guéant’s spokesman, Pierre-Henri Grandet, said that the suspect had traveled to Pakistan and Afghanistan and described himself as a mujahedeen, or freedom fighter. Mr. Grandet added that the suspect, who has not been identified beyond a statement by Mr. Guéant that he was a French national who said he belonged to Al Qaeda, had come to the attention of French intelligence services before the shootings because of his travels to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The raid, which started at about 3 a.m. Wednesday, came a day after French authorities offered new details on Monday’s shootings, an assault that has stunned the nation and terrorized the city, saying the lone gunman seemed to be filming his actions as he coolly shot his victims to death. Mr. Guéant told a French radio station that surveillance footage from the school’s security cameras showed what appeared to be a video camera strapped to his chest.
It needs pointing out that the soldiers this jihadist murdered last week were Muslim. They were fighting for the enemy, for France .......
Reuters witnesses at the scene heard several shots at about 4.40am GMT.
Gueant said that police were also talking to the brother of the gunman, who is a French citizen from Toulouse.

Police sources said a man had been arrested earlier this morning at a separate location in connection with the killings.
The gunman's mother had also been brought to the scene of the siege in a northern suburb of Toulouse to help with negotiations, Gueant said.
