Rick Santorum: Sharia 'is evil' Politico
DURHAM, N.H. — Rick Santorum on Friday asserted that Sharia law has no place in America.
“Jihadism is evil and we need to say what it is,” he said at the Strafford County Lincoln-Reagan dinner, remarks that show how the former Pennsylvania senator continues to establish himself as the candidate most-aligned with the Republican Party’s conservative base.
“We need to define it and say what it is. And it is evil. Sharia law is incompatible with American jurisprudence and our Constitution.”
Santorum, invoking New York Rep. Peter King’s hearing this week on the alleged radicalization of American Muslims, said that the “vast majority” of Muslims don’t want to it either.
“They left because of Sharia law,” he said, referring to why he believes Muslim immigrants left their home countries to come to the United States.
Santorum added, “Sharia law is not just a religious code. It is also a governmental code. It happens to be both religious in nature an origin, but it is a civil code. And it is incompatible with the civil code of the United States.”
The audience loudly applauded.
Santorum, a devout Catholic, warned about Sharia at CPAC last month, and his latest comments set up a stark contrast between his world view and President Obama’s efforts to court support in the Muslim world.
The question-and-answer session of the dinner turned into a wide-ranging discussion.
Santorum said the Democrats talk about entitlements the way dealers talk about drugs.
“Close your eyes, like you’re listening to a drug dealer outside a school yard,” he said. “They see entitlements as a way to make you dependent, weaker, less of a person than you are, drugging you into submission to a government who promises a high to take care of you.”
And Santorum took a swipe at public schools. “Just call them what they are. Public schools? That’s a nice way of putting it. These are government-run schools,” he said.
Santorum brought up the Head Start program, charging that the program is ineffective even as Democrats object strongly to congressional Republicans’ proposal to cut funding for it.
“They fund it more,” he said of Democrats. “Why? Because it brings more children into their domain. It brings more children out of the household … Their agenda is to socialize your children with the thinking they want in those children’s minds.”
Santroum, who home-schools his own seven children, said he supports voucher programs that would allow parents to send their children to private schools.
“I would support anything that gets the money in who should be in control — or who should be the object — of the education system in this country. And that is not the children but the parents. Because parents have the obligation to raise and educate their children.”
Mitt Romney said: "Jihadism Is not part of Islam." Nuts.

Finally, some semblance of common sense regarding Sharia Law. No denials, apologies, or lies. It is evil and if I were American, Santorum would get my vote.

The Guardian is already attacking Santorum....of course by quoting the antisemitic snake and conspiracy theorist Andrew Sullivan
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/belief/2012/jan/05/rick-santorum-christianist-mantle
"Christianist" as in "Islamist".... funny that the latter term is no longer in service in Obamastan ... but the argument is clear.
Republicans are morally equivalent to the Taliban and Sharia.

it is NOW about to become uglier than any of us could ever imagine, the left wing media will go into full attack mode, I bet it wont be another 48 hours before Santorum receives his first credible death threat. Make no mistake this election is NOT about change or faith or even ideology, it is about the very heart and soul of western civilization, and for the last 3 years the west has been LOSING.

Good I'm glad that Rick Santorum is catching on. Although, I think MItt Rommney is a very bright and talented guy who could potentially make a very good president. He often seems to take positions which are convenient and I have trouble trusting him. Mr. Santorum whether one agrees with him or not seems very genunie when he speaks it seems sincere and he's is very good when off script. I want to hear more from him.

Romney cannot be trusted. The disgusting deceitfulness of his attack ads against Gingrich in Iowa proves he has no integrity. Santorum is a good second choice, but America needs the intellect, wisdom, experience and proven record of success that Gingrich offers.

Sorry I can't even consider voting for this rabid anti-gay politician who wants to destroy all the great things that the GLBT has achieved in the last 25 years as far as equal rights are concerned. He may be anti-Jihad, but his hatred towards homosexuality and his obsession with Christianist principles are just as fundamentalist as radical Islam. And even if I voted for him and he won, his primary mission is to overturn same-sex marriage and to Christianize the U.S.A. until every American accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior (which wouldn't go well with atheists, would it?)

Santorum is a straight shooter. The Mainstream media and the lefties would find it harder to slander him since he is young and has less history to meddle in.
Hats off, I hope he wins and allies with our Canadian Prime Minister Steven Harper, who said "Islamism is the biggest security threat in Canada"

The only conservatives in this race worth looking at was Santorum and Bachmann. Newt and Romney have sung to both choirs and we need decisive leadership. The big question is can the Republican Party get behind him? One good thing for sure even though you have not heard any mention about the Tea Party they are out there and they will back Santorum. The Tea Party has been quiet and working behind the scenes as they were in 2010 when they sent 70 + new representatives to Washington. Once this whole thing gets started the Tea Party will be out in full force and they do want a true Conservative who wants to preserve American principles. They also want to confront the ideology of Islamic supremacists.

I hope Santorum has good solid security around him and his family, he'll need it. Stay safe.
I also understand Angela's concerns, but the USA folk (and that includes everyone, atheists and gays too) can not afford another 4 years of the USA kowtowing to Islam. Another 4 years with a treacherous President who blatantly aids and abets the islamisation of the USA, allowing your very infrastructure to be infiltrated by Islam, you'll all be screaming for a Santorum, by which time, it will be too late!

Rick Santorum surges in Iowa due to the support of the ”Tea Party”
Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney are tied in a very close race to win the Iowa Republican caucus. And the lesson that was learned in 2010, was once again on display in 2012. People constantly talked about how well financed and organized the Romney and Paul campaigns were, but us tea partiers turn out to vote!! And elections are decided by votes, not by who has the biggest staff or the largest war chest.
Site polling showed that Santorum received the most tea party votes. Iowans that were seeking ”a candidate with high moral character” also made Rick their top choice.
So what happens now? I see Mitt winning in New Hampshire and Newt or Rick taking down South Carolina. That leaves Florida as the key state in this race. My home state is Florida and I am active in politics as part of Tea Party Fort Lauderdale so I will give my opinion of who will win in Florida, and why.
The tea party movement is very strong in Florida. And the 2010 election results will show that. Tea party favored candidates knocked off well funded establishment Republican candidates in every primary race from governor(Rick Scott) to senator(Marco Rubio). This is also the state that gave Herman Cain the big bump with his Orlando straw poll win.
I think the race will be down to four candidates by then. Romney, Gingrich, Paul and Santorum. I will review all four candidates.
Mitt Romney will do well with seniors, but being ”the establishment favorite” is normally the kiss of death in Florida. Just ask Charlie Crist.
Newt is very bright and will hold his own here. And I see him and Mitt fighting it out for second place.
A racist loon like Ron Paul will not win in Florida. Unless they change the primary rules to let Al-Qaeda members vote.
That leaves Rick Santorum. Florida is the type of state where you want to be the ”three legged stool of conservatism” that Ronald Reagan talked about. The tea party in Florida tends to be really conservative about social and national defense issues . IT ALSO OVERWHELMINGLY VOTES REPUBLICAN!!!! And Rick Santorum is exactly the type of candidate that conservatives in Florida will support.
With Perry and Bachmann dead I can see the majority of those conservative voters going over to Santorum. And with a Florida win, I think that Santorum will pick up all the financing and organizational staff that he needs to win the Republican primary.
SANTORUM IN 2012!!!

I firmly agree with the post of Angela.I cannot support an anti gay rights, anti freedom of choice candidate. It's a pathetic situation when Santorum is the best of the lot. I take a back seat to no one in my resistance to radical Islam, but frankly, I see Santorum as nothing more than a Christian Taliban. As a Zen Buddhist, Santorum would consider me a pagan non idolator.OUR struggle against radical Islam will continue no matter who is elected, so why settle for a New Age Savonarola? And as Susan said, attacking Angela as a "muslima" ia a pathetic cheap shot.Christians, Atheists, Gays, Pagans, Buddhists... whatever- all will be washed away by the tidal wave of Jihad.

You always get good with bad with these politicians. He will recognize the danger of Sharia, yet he wants to cut entitlements. So what he is going to do is leave people to fend for themselves and disrupt social networks designed to support people. If you introduce school vouchers, the whole primacy of the public school system is undermined. You end up with a bunch of competing interests looking to make money instead of a government instution dedicated to education.
We were known for our good schools in this country for a long time. Do the private school students necessarily do better than public school students? Then you have this guy saying that he "does not want to help black people by giving them other peoples' money". Afterwards, he clamed he said blah people, not black peopele. That shows that he is not even going to be honest. He clearly said black people, and there is no idiom of blah people in usage.
If the people don't get the benefit of their taxes then who will? Will it just go more towards the rich, as is the pattern with Republicans? Too bad Bachman dropped out. I didn't really see anything wrong with her. I guess she just felt like another Sarah Palin, being picked on for the same nonsense.
It is Obama vs a pack of weirdos. What can you do? The elections are fauds besides.

Hi everyone, don't let the stealth trolls on this comment page discourage you: Rick Santorum is on a "roll"; this "roll" has been building for a long time and is very legitimate and strong. Santorum is a man of princple who does compromise his principles for political expediency. He calls jihad and Sharia for what they really are, and he always has (check his record in Congress). He will deal with the Islamists as they should be dealt with. We need him in the White House! Santorum 2012!

I am glad that a presidential hopeful is willing to speak out against Sharia law. The problem with Santorum is that he also speaks out in favor of imposing Christian law. I do not want to see either become a reality. America was founded and flourished on laws which are subject to no religious doctrine. World and American history, and indeed the evening news teaches us that any civil society which allows itself to be governed by religious law is in imminent danger of state sanctioned bigotry, oppression, and murder. Americans should not be legally subjected to any religious master or clergy, regardless of origin. The division of church and state is fundamental to the continued freedom we as Americans enjoy, and the freedom to personally chose to worship one deity or another, or none at all.
Posted by: Non Religious Conservative | Friday, January 06, 2012 at 12:23 PM
I am also a non-religious conservative, but I have no problem with supporting Santorum. People sometimes get too wrapped up in a candidate's issue positions. Sure, if Santorum had the power, and he knew the people wouldn't just throw him out and change the law back, then he would probably try to ban abortion and maybe contraception.
That is simply not going to happen. One of the reasons Ron Paul will never win the nomination is because the crazy stuff he wants to do, he can really do as CIC, but the good stuff he wants to do will all have to clear Congress. As responsible voters, we have to determine what we are likely to actually get from a candidate.
I want our laws on abortion to move in the same direction Santorum wants, away from the casual infanticide Obama and his minions support. That is good enough for me.
If the Republicans take power in the Senate and the Presidency, and then they force garbage we do not want on us, the way Obama, Reid and Pelosi have done, then I will be all for kicking them to the curb, too, but in the current state of our society the idea those things will be the banning of contraception or even abortion is ridiculous.

I NEED to see more tangible PROOF that he WILL UNINFEST our country before throwing away my vote on one more politician who is full of bologna.

New Polling for South Carolina and Florida shows that Rick Santorum overwhelmingly has the support of Tea Party voters
The alliance of tea partiers and social conservatives will make Rick Santorum the GOP presidential nominee. Both groups overwhelmingly support Santorum. And new polling in South Carolina and Florida backs that up.
http://libertynews.com/2012/01/06/breaking-rick-santorum-dominates-tea-party-vote/
Grassfire Nation, the parent company of Liberty News and the Patriot Action Network, conducted a survey with tea party voters in Florida and South Carolina.
The top three candidates were:
SOUTH CAROLINA
1. Rick Santorum – 46%
2. Newt Gingrich – 23.6%
3. Mitt Romney – 12.6%
FLORIDA
1. Rick Santorum – 42%
2. Newt Gingrich – 26.3%
3. Mitt Romney – 15.2%
The Grassfire Nation press release makes some interesting points.
“These results show that Santorum’s Iowa win is already having huge ramifications and has re-shaped the GOP presidential race,” says Steve Elliott of Grassfire Nation, which conducted the poll by surveying its members in these two states between January 4-5. “If these results hold, Romney will not be able to consolidate conservative support and Santorum will likely be the clear ‘anti-Romney’ candidate in a two-man race coming out of South Carolina and Florida,” says Elliott.
Other findings:
Nutjob Ron Paul overwhelmingly wins the tea party vote for “least favorite” candidate (41% in SC, 47% FL).
The survey is statistically valid for the specific audience of Grassfire Nation team members in South Carolina and Florida. More than 92% of those surveyed said they are “actively part of” or “identify closely with” the Tea Party movement, making this survey an excellent measure of Tea Party support.

your bias is clear, but is it necessary? santorum is not going to put down some religious mandates. that is just silly. the u.s. is just too diverse to reverse course on your petty issues. you want to have same-sex sex? go ahead. who's stopping you? your pettiness will lead to another 4 years of lawlessness. which is more important, your getting your pint across or getting obama out of office? silly people vote silly shit before common sense.

Good to see some non-religious liberals here. Please don't be put off by stupid accusations of being 'stealth trolls' for having some issues with Santorum. We need to have a voice in the fight against islam and to maintain our liberties.
I agree though that silly as Santorum's ideas on contraception and gays are, he hasn't got a chance of passing them. Has he, though, got much of a chance of really acting on islam?
I really wish the tone of these comments sections would remain polite towards other commenters. We need to work together against islam, not call each other 'stealth trolls' or 'silly people' and worse. Remember this site is also in the eye of the world, showing unity against islam and polite willingness to discuss other issues would be to our benefit.

I am originally from Pittsburgh, Pa.& my husband and I both liked Santorum, as when he is asked a question, he doesn't 'wait for the p.c. answer to come to him-instead,
he answers quickly and directly. This tells me he already 'knows his mind'. Even though he and his wife may be of a particular religion with their own ideals, I think he has respect to know that America IS very diverse regarding religion. I think he Knows the bigger issues that face us-the economy, protecting citizens lives
and now, I see he is onto what the current Muslim in our Whitehouse is doing to have
Sharia Law alongside of our Constitution. Santorum "Gets It", and that says every thing to us. He is a true conservative, and God knows, we've had enough of the 'Dem
Liberal Leftists that are acutally America haters', so he's it for us. He will have sound people around him-Not Radical Czars as Obama; also like his humble roots and his respect for the 'working classes, that made this Republic great-we need someone who actually loves America and the trolls here that are trying to smear him already,
are afraid of his background, beliefs and honesty'. I DON'T want another Rino, as Romney got endorsed by McCain(or McAmnesty) they are Dems in GOP clothing-No Way.

I was just watching the South Carolina debate on Youtube, where Newt said that he would stop all foreign aid to Pakistan because it is clearly to our friend, to which Santorum replied that Pakistan has "got to be" our friend because it has nuclear weapons and we should still be giving aid, for the sake of the "friendly" elements in the Pakistani Administration. WHAT THE...?
Santorum is not only inconsistent in what he says, but he has 0% CHANCE to capture the swing voters. No sane person who is not a bigoted Christian will vote for him, which ensures another 4 years of the Obamination Administration.
If you want to win, look at who the young, smart people in university districts are voting for. They are voting for Ron Paul (the most pro-Israel of the candidates, the only one who wouldn't interfere if Israel decided to conquer Gaza, Palestine, even the neighboring Muslim nations threatening Israel - and I believe Israel CAN do that) and Mitt Romney (the only smart, Presidential-looking candidate out there; most people are shallow and vote looks and charisma, intelligence is sadly not Mitt's selling point for most of the electorate - that's why Reagan won and that's why Obama won. That's why Santorum or Newt - who BTW I am also liking - will NOT win against Obama: they are ugly)
I hope Ron Paul or Mitt Romney win. The first because he will piss the Big Government leftists and their organs of propaganda (Media, Marxist Universities) the most, the second because he is smart and he pisses off the more intelectually-challenged CONservative voters. America needs to return to sound laws and rules and abandon the anarcho-communism and informal power structures permeating it, only then it can hope to fight effectively with a much weaker foe such as Muslim fanatics. Ron Paul would put America in that position.
Posted by: Nyk | Sunday, January 08, 2012 at 04:50 PM
Also, how many wars were won by America since World War 2?
We all know the answer to that: 0. Iraq and Afghanistan are NOT friendly, even after a US victory in a war that's undeclared.
Ron Paul said that he would pursue wars the old-fashioned way: actually declare war, and then fight to win for your side, not to be nation-building for your enemy. America needs to be willing to be as savage as the Taliban when fighting them and to have well-defined objectives, not the fuzzy mess which we have today.

I knew there was a reason I liked Rick Santorum. I have listened to him for the last 4 or 5 years and have agreed with almost everything he has said. I disagree with his opinion of Mitt Romney, but then, I disagree with the prevailing opinion of Mitt Romney anyway. I think he is a moral, caring and able man who really CARES about our country and wants to see us better than we have been. That said, back to Rick Santorum: I would vote for Santorum in a New York minute if he is nominated. We NEED people like him in our government -- in ANY capacity. He calls it as he sees it. I would not object so vehemently to Islam if they hadn't adopted the attitude that the only good "infidel" is a dead infidel. In the first place they use jihad for ethnic cleansing and isn't that what everyone objects to? I know I do! If they would adopt the attitude of "live and let live" and accept that not everyone agrees with them and that no one deserves to die just because they disagree, then I wouldn't even think twice about it, but they DO think that way and I, for one, don't think they have that right. As far as I know, no one has died and left them God. I don't intend to ever agree with them, and so I'm probably on somebody's "hit list", but if that's so, so be it. I am a Christian and honored to be called such. No one has the right to tell me I can't be a Christian. They might kill me for not saying otherwise but they don't have that right either and they will answer for it someday when there is nothing they can do about it except face the God who created them and admit they were wrong. No one has to believe that or agree with me, but that won't make it any less true. By the same token if you will put the two factions side by side and compare them, you would find that Christians are much more tolerant of others and will accept it if you don't agree with them and go on. A Muslim will not. It's either their way, or you're dead. No tolerance and no kindliness and respect for others. You tell me how that can possibly be a religion of peace??? True Christians have no difficulty smiling and letting you have your own opinion. Muslims will not. GOOD says "you are free to choose to do as you wish so choose wisely". EVIL says "do it my way or you will die and you have NO CHOICE in the matter". So which side are YOU on? The choice is yours and yours alone to make. But don't be surprised when you have to face God and explain why you made that choice.
Posted by: Dottie | Sunday, January 08, 2012 at 06:56 PM
@Stephanie: First, READ the Constitution of the United States of America and tell me WHERE you find "separation of church and state". IT ISN'T THERE! The Constitution of the United States of America and the Bill of Rights ARE based on Christian concepts and derived from the Ten Commandments. Don't believe me? Find out what those statues and engravings on the outer walls of the Supreme Court Building are and what they mean. That's not odd because this nation was founded on the concept of freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. All should be free to worship the God of their choice, be that God, the Father and Creator, or a golden calf or a seahorse in the ocean. However, that freedom OF religion should allow EVERYONE to worship as they wish and our laws state as such. Shari'a law pretty much says "you will believe in Allah and Islam or you will die - period". There is no place in America for that kind of attitude. If Christians were doing the same thing as Islam does, I would disagree with them, too, but they don't. A true Christian will smile and say you are free to believe whatever you want, just don't tell ME I have to believe as you do. And virtually ALL of the candidates DO feel that way. Whatever their shortcomings, they will not foist THEIR beliefs off on the rest of America, but they WILL govern according to the laws of God - which, by the way, has ALWAYS allowed freedom of choice whenever Christian law has been properly applied. That's not to say many people have not done horrible things in the name of Christ, but they will have to answer for those actions themselves. Not ALL Christians believe as they did. Example: I disagree vehemently with what the gays are trying to do because I believe in the sanctity and sacredness of marriage between one man and one woman (which might surprise a lot of folks who have the wrong opinion of what "Mormons" truly believe). That said, if they want to pretend that government sanctioning their "commitment" will make it acceptable in the eyes of God, they will have to answer for it to the God who created them. Just because one WANTS God to sanction their behavior doesn't mean He WILL. It's NOT MY AFFAIR unless and until it starts creating difficulty for ME or my family. I'm quite sure this is also how Mitt Romney feels. I, too, am offended by that type of lifestyle. The key is, I don't make an issue of it. How one chooses to live is their business, not mine UNLESS they start to infringe on MY rights and deprive me of MY rights just to make themselves feel better. Then I get fighting mad and might speak up. The only "law" I have seen that is guilty of bigotry, oppression and murder, is that of jihad. When ANYONE tells someone else that they MUST believe THEIR way or die, then THAT is bigotry, oppression and ultimately murder when the other person says no. There is ALWAYS a choice. In my case, my choice is NOT to accept that I MUST convert to ANY other religion than the one I am currently affiliated with. If someone else chooses to kill me as a result of it, then THEY will answer for that, not me. The choice is always OURS to make. Choose wisely.

Nyk -- Ron Paul is not the one. Sorry. He may want you to think that he thinks that America is a pristine, sovereign, non-participatory island, but we both know, and he especially knows that that isn't the case anymore. Buh-bye 1950s.
What we need first and foremost is a fiscal conservative -- nay, a fiscal magician. Which of the R candidates do you think has mastered anything near that level of economic skill and where do you think he learned it? [Hint: where = in the real world, not in Washington; who = Mitt Romney]
