Brett Bair on FOX news is reporting that The Department of Homeland Security and the FBI are preparing a bulletin for law enforcement and counter terrorism agencies warning of a new and credible threat, "specific enough" to cause serious concern. The President has been briefed. They have descriptors. The target is somewhere on DC or New York.
This threat is independent of the previous Islamic attack threat coming from al qaeda on the 10th anniversary of 911.
UPDATE: New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg says a new Sept. 11 anniversary terror threat is "credible but it is not corroborated." The city is raising bridge and tunnel security, setting up vehicle checkpoints and extending shifts for some police officers. "There is no reason for any of the rest of us to change anything in our daily routines," Bloomberg said at a news conference at NYPD headquarters. (Politico)
But, but, but the guidelines issued from the Obama White House advised us not to mention al qaeda or motive. Poor President Moe, he must tied up in knots.
UPDATE: U.S. Muslim Linked To Al Qaeda Terror Plot on 9/11 Anniversary
U.S. authorities are scrambling to sort through information that the CIA developed in the past 24 hours indicating that at least three individuals entered the U.S. in August by air with the intent to launch a vehicle-borne attack against Washington, D.C. or New York around the anniversary of 9/11, according to intelligence officials.
Initially, one of those officials added that at least two rental trucks -- one from Penske and one from Budget -- were being sought nationwide. Those trucks have since been recovered and appear to have had no connection to the plotters.
In Ray Kelly's NY, no cars, trucks or tricycles get to Ground Zero on 911. Kelly is, hands down, the greatest police commissioner in the world.
