In this week's issue of out of "Time" magazine, Bruce Crumley has penned an intellectually dishonest propaganda piece on Islam in Europe, entitled, "Europe Conservatives' New Scapegoat: Multiculturalism." There is no group better practiced at delusion and denial of reality than the left. Yes, I know, so what else is new?
Well, this. Non-muslims are called kuffar by the author. This is a dirty, filthy pejorative word for non-muslims in Islam. It is as ugly as any other word you can think of for a class or group of people, a word that stings the senses.
Crumley describes French writer and anthropologist and "moderate Muslim" Dounia Bouzar this way: (hat tip nook)
"Yet despite her efforts to find common ground between Muslims and wider French society — and her feminist defense of women within Islam — Bouzar is no Kuffar-appeasing Uncle Tom."
Are we to understand that any Western Muslim who doesn't want to institute sharia across the world, slaughter or force non-Muslims to convert, and install a worlwide caliphate, but instead chooses to adhere to civilized Western norms, is an "Uncle Tom"?
Also spelled 'kafir' or 'kaffir', Kuffar is a highly derogatory Arabic term used to refer to non-Muslims, though it is usually directed less against "People of the Book" (Christians and Jews) and more against others (Hindus, Buddhists, Shintoists, etc).
Separate laws govern Muslims and kuffars in an Islamic state with kuffars being viciously suppressed. For example: the blood payment to the family of a murdered Muslim man in Saudi Arabia is 1,000,000 Riyals; the payment to the family of a murdered Hindu woman is 3,333 Riyals.
Against kuffars make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war to strike terror into the (hearts of) the Enemy of Allah and your enemy, and others beside, whom you may not know, but whom Allah does know. Whatever you shall spend in the Cause of Allah, shall be repaid to you, and you shall not be treated unjustly. (Qur'an: 8:60) (Urban Dictionary here)
His reason for writing this is an attack on her vehicles by "right wing nazis." It seems she has been repeatedly attacked by devout Muslims who for years have publicly repudiated and denounced and her and issued fatwas against her for "hypocrisy," "blasphemy," and her irreligious brand of Islam.
The whole article is so patently false on its face, it is laughable.
But the increasing ease with which mainstream politicians and commentators now point a guilty finger at Islam on virtually any topic has created an unhealthy environment in which hard-core secularists on the extreme left have joined forces with Arab-hating neo-Nazi groups in a mutual effort to erase Islam's visibility — or even presence — in France. The fusing of such dark forces should have Sarkozy and other French leaders rushing to embrace moderate Muslims like Bouzar to find a common way forward for France and Islam — not talking down to them in a manner that leaves them looking like even better targets for extremists.
