BRIDGEWATER — The backers of a proposed mosque on Mountain Top Road have submitted revised plans for the structure, eliminating an Islamic religious school that their lawyer said had become “a distraction.”

The Chughtai Foundation said the mosque will offer small daily prayer services, larger services on Fridays, a day care center, weekend religious classes and a variety of programs for young people and seniors.

The mosque would be built on the site of The Redwood Inn, a vacant banquet hall and a township landmark that the foundation rented from time to time for services, said the foundation’s attorney, Lloyd Tubman of Flemington.

But the proposal has raised the ire of residents who say they’re concerned about traffic and quality of life along the two-lane road, which is otherwise residential.

“There is no way that this mosque will not negatively affect the property values in this neighborhood,” wrote Stephen and Kathryn Bragg of Bridgewater in a Jan. 20 e-mail to the township. “Why would anyone on the Planning Board approve the destruction of a wonderful neighborhood? Please understand that families live here.”

Adding another wrinkle, the Bridgewater Township Council has introduced an ordinance to restrict the location of houses of worship to parcels with access to major arteries such as state or county roads.

If passed, that ordinance could complicate Chughtai’s plan.

The mosque is scheduled to come before the township Planning Board at 7 p.m. Monday in a special meeting at Somerset County Vocational & Technical School Performing Arts Auditorium, 14 Vogt Drive.

Has anyone bothered to look into who is behind the mosque? Who funds the Sunni group? Who speaks at their current mosques? They do plan on segregating female worshipers – is that not a concern to Bridgewater residents?

Coincidence or not, Tubman went to law school at the Univ. of Minnesota. Maybe he’d like the mosque in his neighborhood?

Fighting Jihad and Islamic Law in Tennessee: Legislation Introduced into the General Assembly

NASHVILLE, TN - February 28, 2011 - As many of you may have already read, two great legislators from Tennessee have sponsored a state terrorism material support bill.  Between Carlos Bledsoe (Arkansas Army recruiting station killer) and the latest Saudi student jihadist who has ties to Nashville, this bill couldn't have come quickly enough.  As expected, the mainstream media has done everything they know to do to skew, misconstrue, and otherwise fail to understand what the proposed legislation actually does. 
Legislation has been introduced in the Tennessee General Assembly to enhance Tennessee's anti-terrorism law and allow state and local law enforcement to act decisively at the earliest point to stop terrorist acts.  The bill, sponsored by Senate Republican Caucus Chairman Bill Ketron (R-Murfreesboro) and House Speaker Pro Tempore Judd Matheny (R-Tullahoma), aims to curb the incidence of homegrown terrorism like that of Memphian Carlos Bledsoe who stated he was following the call to "jihad" when he shot and killed a serviceman at the Arkansas Army recruiting station.

     "The top priority of government should be to protect our citizens," said Senator Ketron.  "The nine-eleven attack and subsequent terrorist attacks have turned a new page in our nation's history.  All levels of government -- national, state and local -- must be a part of this effort.  This bill seeks to enhance legislation we already have on the books to provide our state and local law enforcement agencies the tools they need to enable them to intervene against those who plan, finance and assist others who commit acts of terrorism before they occur."

     The bill is modeled after the federal Material Support law which has been upheld by the Supreme Court as constitutional. 

Just the Facts, Sir, Just the Facts

Tennessee has a bill in the legislature that tries of protect its citizens from jihad as legalized by Sharia law. The local paper has responded with the same tired argument--Islam is a religion and we are bigots to try to do anything about a religion. The usual suspects are interviewed, some Muslim leader and a liberal apologist who assure us that we are immoral by trying to protect ourselves from the violence of Islamic jihad.

Knowledge can teach us what is, but wisdom allows us to see what is not there. When you read the inaccurate articles published in the papers, there is something that is absent—knowledge about the subject at hand. Instead of facts about Islam, we get “expert” opinions from those who cannot even define Islam, which goes a long way to explain why there are no facts, only viewpoints.

It is exceedingly simple. Islam is the doctrine found in the Koran, Sira (Mohammed’s biography) and the Hadith (his traditions). The Koran does not have enough information in it to be a Muslim. The bulk of Islamic doctrine is taken from the Sunna of Mohammed (found in the Sira and the Hadith). All of the Sharia is based on Koran, Sira and Hadith, the Trilogy.

And do we find even one reference to the Islamic doctrine in such opinion pieces that are found in the media? No, not one. The media can talk about jihad without ever referring once to the doctrine of jihad found in the Trilogy.

The odd fact about the Islamic doctrine is that most of it is not about how to be a Muslim, but instead, the majority of it is about the non-Muslim, the Kafir. For instance, 64% of the Koran deals with Kafirs, which is not religious in nature, since none of the Kafir doctrine can be about religion, since the Kafir is strictly excluded from any aspect of the religion of Islam. The Islamic doctrine about Kafirs is purely political, hence it is Political Islam. The long and short of it is: forget about the religion of Islam unless you are a Muslim. Keep your eye on Political Islam if you are a Kafir.

One of the ways Political Islam manifests is jihad. To show how extensive jihad is in the Trilogy, consider that 31% of the Trilogy deals with jihad. Jihad is not just a verse or two; it is a major part of the Islamic political doctrine.

But our media shows us that they do not have any access to any expertise about Islam. There are no facts, just opinions. Fact-based reasoning does not deal with personal denigration of the opponent. Anyone who does not agree with the doctrine of ignorance as found in the media, the classroom and the pulpit is a bigot. Fact-based reasoning deals with the facts of the doctrine. However, our media “pundits” and apoligists are not able to even define Islam, much less hold a fact-based discussion.

Here is the rule: if there is no mention about the Trilogy of Koran, Sira and Hadith, then it is just another opinion and is not factual. Shouldn’t we demand that our reasoning be based on facts?

     "Tennessee, like the federal government, has a compelling state interest to protect our citizens from jihad terrorism," added Representative Matheny.  "The incidence of homegrown terrorism is rising and our local and state law enforcement officers are on the frontlines in preventing such attacks.  Tennessee's current law addresses terrorism after the fact.  This legislation aims to prevent acts of terrorism before they occur."

     Open source reporting shows that between 2001 - 2008, there were one or two terror attempts per year.  That number jumped in 2009 - January 2011 to one or two cases uncovered nationally per month.  The lawmakers said the bill protects the right of political speech and the right of citizens to practice freedom of religion.

     "This bill does not interfere with the constitutionally protected rights of those who practice Sharia religious law," added Senator Ketron.  "This is not about religious rights or about those who practice Islamic beliefs.  It's about protecting our citizens from acts of terrorism that come from Sharia jihad which is a growing threat in all our states."

Sheepshead Bay Patriots File Lawsuit Against Islamic Supremacist Mega-Mosque on Tree-Lined, Residential Street

Kudos to the Bay People. The good people of Sheepshead Bay are fighting back against the Islamic supremacist steamroller barreling down their residential, tree-lined street in an attempt to build a giant mosque despite a flagrant violation of city and local laws and ordinances.

I have been posting on the flagrant Islamic supremacist violation of work orders and ordinances on a small residential street in Sheepshead Bay, in obvious contempt for the rule of law. The good people of Voorhies Avenue took to protesting every day in front of the wall obscuring the illegal construction of a Muslim Brotherhood mega-mosque on the quiet, tree-lined block. And they wull continue to protest to expose the supremacists and their government shills.

The buildings department and city offficials had turned a blind eye to this gross violation of the law. On this quiet street the illegal construction of a mega-mosque was going up at warp speed, despite violation after violation. The Bay People are fighting these gross violations legally and through the system.

We exposed their collusion and corruption, and in early February evening the city halted illegal construction of the Muslim Brotherhood MAS mosque. BTW, the local media calls the mosque an "Islamic Cultural Center," taking their cues from the deceivers behind the Ground Zero mosque.

Today the Bay People filed a lawsuit against the radicals building this rabat.

Last week our litigation attorneys, Law Offices of Albert K. Butzel, filed a complaint in Kings County Supreme Court against Allowey Ahmed, other possible owners, architects and construction company of the mosque/community center at 2812 Voorhies Avenue. Please see the attachment for details.  In the lawsuit Bay People Inc., and other plaintiffs ask the court to issue a preliminary injunction against the construction until the case is decided by the courts. Plaintiffs base their causes of action on:
The construction of the Building violates the Zoning Resolution of the City of New York, in that it does not include accessory on-site parking spaces, as required by Section 25-31 of the Zoning Resolution. DOB’s issuance of building permits for the Building was illegal because it failed to enforce the Zoning Resolution and require at least 13 accessory on-site parking spaces.
As a consequence of the failure to provide accessory on-site parking spaces, traffic congestion will be increased and parking opportunities in the neighborhood will be diminished.   The plaintiffs who live in close proximity to the Building site will be specially damaged as a result, but all the plaintiffs will suffer injury because of the diminution in the quality of the neighborhood.
Plaintiffs will continue to suffer irreparable damage as they pursue their administrative remedies unless the construction of the Building is enjoined pending the outcome of the administrative process    Consequently, the plaintiffs ask this court to issue a preliminary injunction to avoid further damage pending that outcome.
Construction and operation of the Building will result in “significant objectionable influences” in a residential area, in violation of the requirements of Section 22-14 of the Zoning Resolution.   
The construction of the Building is unreasonably interfering with the plaintiffs’ use and enjoyment of their property and diminishing the value of their properties, to their special damage, and the construction activities constitute an immediate nuisance with respect to the plaintiffs’ property.
If the Building is completed and operates as a house of worship, it and its operations will unreasonably interfere with the plaintiffs’ use and enjoyment, and further diminish the value, of their property, to their special damage, and the Building will constitute a continuing nuisance with respect to the plaintiffs’ property.
Further factual documents supporting the preliminary injunction will be filed with the court within the next month.

Voorhies Avenue is a beautiful little street in Sheepshead Bay. Small, pretty, well-cared for homes line the street. There are no stores, churches, synagogues or businesses there. So why would the Muslim Brotherhood want to build a beachhead there? There are no Muslims who live on the street and not many in the neighborhood. Why there?

MAS has ignored procedure, flouted the law and violated stop work orders. They respect the sharia (Islamic law). American rule of law? Not so much.

The neighborhood coalition that opposes the mosque wants to keep the street residential and quiet. Hardly unreasonable. The idea of a giant mosque, out of all proportion to the other homes on the street, is offensive. The traffic, congestion, noise, and call to prayer change the landscape of this otherwise quiet street. Don't neighborhoods have a say about what can or cannot be built? Don't neighborhoods have a right to preserve the sanctity of their streets and their homes? The MAS Islamic supremacists have been consistently dishonest. Their obfuscation, misrepresentation of the project and morphing mosque design hardly instill confidence that they are being straight about anything. And their lawyer is a radical freakazoid -- of the Islamic Jew hating variety.

Muslim Brotherhood Groups Steer "Radicalization" Hearings: King Caves Again, Strikes Walid Phares

Congressman King, first do no harm.

That won't be easy for the cornered King. First, he acquiesced to Islamic supremacists and crossed Steven Emerson and Robert Spencer off the list of potential witnesses. Then last week, Ayaan Hirsi Ali was struck from the witness list. Now, Walid Phares.

From the very first, I have been critical of King making these concessions and being led around by the nose  by those working to destroy and eliminate Western civilization from within. And while I took a lot of heat (more like smoke and mirrors) for my criticism, I stand behind it.

King's initiative was long overdue. We are thwarting Islamic attacks on a weekly basis now. He was right; he should have remained firm. Any sign of weakness and these barbarians go in for the kill.

Today I was sadly proven right again. Perhaps King will surprise us and call Wafa Sultan or Ibn Warraq or Ali Sina. But, from all signs, I am not holding my breath.

King caves again: Walid Phares not testifying at his hearings on Muslim "radicalization" after complaints from Hamas-linked CAIR Jihadwatch

Hamas-linked CAIR complained, and King caved the next day.

No doubt it was just a coincidence, eh? Sure. And back on January 24, CAIR's "American Muslim News Briefs" mailing contained an item, "King Hearing Witness: 'We Are At War With Islam,'" linking to a piece entitled "Ayaan Hirsi Ali should not testify before Rep. Peter King," by Josh Rosenau at Science Blogs. That time, it took a couple of weeks for King to throw Hirsi Ali, a noble and courageous freedom fighter, under the bus, but by February 7 she was gone. This time, Phares was gone in a day.

And for what? Hamas-linked CAIR's press release claims that "Mr. Phares is a 'former official with the Lebanese Forces, a Christian militia.' This militia was implicated, by Israel's official Kahan inquiry and other sources, in the 1982 massacre of civilian men, women and children at the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in Lebanon."

This is the guilt-by-association game that the Left and its Islamic supremacist allies love to play. They do it to me all the time: I was standing in the same room with someone, and therefore I must secretly approve of everything that person has ever said and done, and everything said and done by everyone else he knows also -- even if those words and deeds go against the principles I have consistently enunciated and acted upon. And so now with Phares. But there are some critical and unanswered questions: Did Phares order this massacre? Was he even there? Did he then or does he now approve of massacring civilians?

Hamas-linked CAIR doesn't ask them, of course, because the answers would most likely be inconvenient. Walid Phares is a fine researcher and analyst, with no "extreme" or "hateful" positions. It is rich indeed that CAIR, an organization with ties to a jihad terror group, Hamas, and an Islamic supremacist group, the Muslim Brotherhood, is setting itself up as the moral arbiter of King's hearings, and even richer that King is showing himself so acutely sensitive to public criticism that he is essentially allowing CAIR to play this role. CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case -- so named by the Justice Department. CAIR operatives have repeatedly refused to denounce Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups. Several former CAIR officials have been convicted of various crimes related to jihad terror. CAIR's cofounder and longtime Board chairman (Omar Ahmad), as well as its chief spokesman (Honest Ibe Hooper), have made Islamic supremacist statements.

And so another witness who might have added something useful and substantial to King's hearings bites the dust. And yet a number of anti-jihad groups and individuals are preparing a full-out expression of support for his increasingly absurd and toothless hearings -- evidently they're so abjectly grateful that someone, anyone, is even looking at this issue at all, that they're willing to overlook the ever-increasing signs that his hearings will be a worthless Muslim Brotherhood taqiyya charade led by Muslim Brotherhood-financed Congressman Keith Ellison (the Muslim American Society, the Brotherhood's chief arm in the U.S., paid for his hajj). Indeed, they're not only willing to overlook that evidence, but are doggedly pretending, despite the complete absence of any evidence whatsoever to support this hope, that King is poised to accomplish something regarding public awareness of jihad activity among Muslims in the U.S.

Well, I certainly hope he does. I'd be overjoyed to be proven wrong on this. But with King's shrinking-violent delicacy in the face of criticism, and dhimmi anxiety to accommodate his Islamic supremacist critics, it looks as if his hearings will only do any good by accident, at best.

A potentially controversial witness, Walid Phares, isn't expected to appear at Pete King's hearings on Muslim radicalization, King told POLITICO just now.

Robert Costa's report this week that the witness included Walid Phares, a Fox News analysts and conservative terrorism scholar, raised some eyebrows.

That's because King has told us, among others, that he plans to rely on Muslim witnesses. That angered some outside critics of the community, but King hoped it would lend the hearings credibility and avoid some distracting controversy.

But Phares is of Lebanese Christian descent, and Muslim groups accuse him of ties to Christian militias in Lebanon's brutal civil war (whose sectarian battles echo in various ways through the current American politics of Islam.

"As of now, he is not testifying," King said through a spokesman.

Friday morning after the Assembly vote to approve Governor Scott Walker’s budget repair bill Democrat State Rep. Gordon Hintz turned to Republican Rep. Michelle Litjens and said: “You are F***king dead!”

State Rep. Gordon Hintz was issued a municipal citation in Appleton earlier this month for violating a city sexual misconduct ordinance.

Appleton police said the citation was issued Feb. 10 in conjunction with an ongoing investigation of Heavenly Touch Massage Parlor, 342 W. Wisconsin Ave., in Appleton. Police searched the business and a nearby residence in the 1300 block of North Division Street Jan. 28, after investigators had staked out the properties for several days after receiving a tip.

Last Friday…. after the Assembly voted to engross the Budget Repair Bill, Hintz turned to a female colleague, Rep. Michelle Litjens and said: “You are F***king dead!”

Hintz was arrested for sexual misconduct earlier in the week – in a prostitution sting.

A former British Airways computer expert has been found guilty of conspiring with a wanted terrorist to blow up a plane.

Rajib Karim, 31, used his position at the airline to plot an attack with Anwar al Awlaki, a notorious radical preacher associated with al Qaeda.

The privately-educated Bangladeshi national, who moved with his wife and son to Newcastle in 2006, led a double life, jurors heard

He was "committed to an extreme jihadist and religious cause" and was "determined to seek martyrdom" but hid his hatred for Western ways from colleagues.

His techniques for siphoning information from BA were described as like a "John le Carre-style" plot.

He used his access to the airline's offices in Newcastle and at Heathrow to encrypt confidential information in spreadsheets and also held a secret meeting with fellow Islamic extremists at Heathrow.

But Karim, described as "mild-mannered, well-educated and respectful" by his colleagues, never aired his extreme views.

When he was arrested while sitting at his desk in BA's IT department in Newcastle in February last year, his colleagues were left shocked.

While in Bangladesh, Karim was lured into becoming an avid supporter of the extremist organisation Jammat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) by his younger brother.

But their plan to live in an Islamic state was put on hold when Karim moved to England in December 2006, fearing his son was dying of cancer.

In 2009, he began communicating with al Awlaki from his home and communicated in code with JMB supporters in Bangladesh.

As he became more extreme in his beliefs, he conspired to blow up a US-bound plane with al Awlaki, who is believed to be hiding in the mountains of Yemen.

Police arrested Karim after recovering a small white laptop from his home and a hard-drive...

Here is CNN's idea of an "intriguing"person. Race-baiter, militant Muslim and poisonous Jew-hater Louis Farrakhan is warning us of riots and violence here: "you’d better prepare because it will be coming to your door.” And CNN finds this intriguing and oh so chi chi. 

This is Obama's pal and Qaddafi's best American bud, so he must be right, eh?

Imagine if I said such a thing, or any Republican or tea party activist said such a thing. We would be hanged in effigy. Where is the moral outrage, the condemnation? **Crickets chirping near exhaustion in newsrooms nationwide.**

The leader of the Nation of Islam predicts that uprisings like those in the Middle East will happen in the United States, according to the Chicago Tribune. He is calling on President Obama not to attack the protesters when they revolt. During an address Sunday, Farrakhan told his followers: “What you are looking at in Tunisia, in Egypt … Libya, in Bahrain … what you see happening there … you’d better prepare because it will be coming to your door.”

Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan says Moammar Gadhafi has always been a friend and he won’t distance himself from the Libyan dictator.

Speaking Sunday at the annual Saviours’ Day convention at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Farrakhan didn’t discuss specifics about the deadly uprisings in Libya.

But the 77-year-old said no leader has been loved by 100 percent of his people and said that if Gadhafi is persecuted for crimes against humanity, the same should apply to former President George W. Bush for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Farrakhan visited Gadhafi in the 1980s and in 1996 accepted a humanitarian award from him. But during his speech Sunday he warned the wave of revolution spreading across the Middle East is coming to the United States.

Speaking to followers who all but filled the 18,000-seat venue, he said, “What you are looking at in Tunisia, in Egypt, in Yemen, in Jordan, in Libya, in Bahrain will soon, very soon be in all the nations of the world . . . and even sooner take place in America.

Dr. Maher Ayyad, 55, says no one was hurt in Friday's bombing, though the explosion damaged his brother's vehicle.

He said Sunday that after the blast, he received text messages to halt evangelical work or face harsh punishment. Ayyad says he does not preach his faith....

Whore not Hero: The Traitor Files -- Teddy Kennedy

Is it any wonder that we have a radical in the White House? I mean, seriously. The Democrat  heroes of the left have for decades been the worst subversives in our nation's history, actively working against individual rights, capitalism, and basic Constitutional principles. Time and time again. Is it any wonder that we wound up in this current crisis, with an imposter at 1600 Pennsylavania Avenue? It's a wonder that it didn't happen sooner. We are in a chokehold, held hostage by the leftwing government's union armies.

What I want to know is, why were these traitors protected? Teddy was the tip of the poisonous spear. Time after time, year after year, decade after decde, their treason is/was covered up. Was there not one decent man or woman with integrity? One?

After repeated attempts, Judicial Watch has managed to pry loose certain documents relating to Teddy Kennedy from the FBI. The FBI's original redactions plainly had nothing to do with national security, so the agency apparently was trying to protect Kennedy's reputation.

The most entertaining documents relate to a trip Kennedy took to Latin America in 1961. He visited a number of countries, accompanied by his "political counselor." In each country, Kennedy met with prominent Communists or other left-wing leaders. The U.S. Ambassador to Mexico was outraged that Kennedy wanted to bring such people to the embassy--this was the heart of the Cold War, after all--and he refused, telling Kennedy to arrange his own interviews somewhere else. A State Department official in Peru described Teddy as "pompous and a spoiled brat."

In Colombia, the first person Kennedy wanted to meet with was Lauchlin Currie, a Russian spy who served as a key aide to Franklin Roosevelt, then moved to Colombia and renounced his American citizenship.

By the time he got to Chile, Kennedy apparently was tired of political work, so he "made arrangements to 'rent' a brothel for an entire night" in Santiago. You can read the FBI reports here. Here is one of them; click to enlarge:

The year after his Latin American tour, Kennedy entered the United States Senate. It is quite remarkable: the Kennedy that emerges from the FBI reports sounds like a right-winger's cartoon fantasy of the man. However bad you thought Ted Kennedy was, he was worse!

Sacramento’s ABC News 10 reported on the union rally and Tea Party counter rally in Sacramento today. ABC’s online report makes cursory mention of an incident of union violence directed at Tea Party activist Rodney Stanhope: “Police cited one man for battery after he allegedly shoved a tea party supporter.”

I spoke to Stanhope, as he drove to the hospital for x-rays and treatment for the injuries sustained at the rally, and asked him what happened. Mr. Stanhope said that he was with a group of about 150 Tea Party activists across the street from the MoveOn.org-organized union rally. A union man with a bullhorn, Richard Andazola, 28, was yelling across the street at the Tea Party activists, calling them “fascists.”

America descends into chaos, with the destroyers given sanction by a runaway White House. This is war, my friends. 

Fox News Reporter Gets Hit While WI Protesters Scream ‘Fox News Lies' Medialite

The Wisconsin protesters are getting restless and angrier as the chants of “Fox News lies” grew louder and louder around reporter Mike Tobin. As some of the protesters eagerly tried to block the camera shot, the picture then switched away from Tobin out on the street to inside the Capitol building. Tobin’s voiceover continued as he exclaimed “a guy just hit me.”

Tobin said he has received much heckling, and that a teacher even told him she hates him because it made her feel good. The “utter lack of civility and harassment of reporters,” as anchor Gregg Jarrett described it, is truly breathtaking and seems like a weird strategy to try and win support for one’s cause.

For the second time in as many days, Egyptian armed force stormed the 5th century old St. Bishoy monastery in Wadi el-Natroun, 110 kilometers from Cairo. Live ammunition was fired, wounding two monks and six Coptic monastery workers. Several sources confirmed the army's use of RPG ammunition. Four people have been arrested including three monks and a Coptic lawyer who was at the monastery investigating yesterday's army attack.

Monk Aksios Ava Bishoy told activist Nader Shoukry of Freecopts the armed forces stormed the main entrance gate to the monastery in the morning using five tanks, armored vehicles and a bulldozer to demolish the fence built by the monastery last month to protect themselves and the monastery from the lawlessness which prevailed in Egypt during the January 25 Uprising.

"When we tried to address them, the army fired live bullets, wounding Father Feltaows in the leg and Father Barnabas in the abdomen," said Monk Ava Bishoy. "Six Coptic workers in the monastery were also injured, some with serious injuries to the chest."

The injured were rushed to the nearby Sadat Hospital, the ones in serious condition were transferred to the Anglo-Egyptian Hospital in Cairo.

Father Hemanot Ava Bishoy said the army fired live ammunition and RPGs continuously for 30 minutes, which hit part of the ancient fence inside the monastery. "The army was shocked to see the monks standing there praying 'Lord have mercy' without running away. This is what really upset them," he said. "As the soldiers were demolishing the gate and the fence they were chanting 'Allahu Akbar' and 'Victory, Victory'."

He also added that the army prevented the monastery's car from taking the injured to hospital.

 A prominent national human rights and advocacy organization has vowed to fight against its designation by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a hard-Left propaganda group, as a "hate group."

The day after yet another deadly Islamic jihad terror plot involving weapons of mass destruction was thwarted in Texas, the SPLC issued its latest list of hate groups, including Stop Islamization of America (SIOA).

SIOA Executive Director Pamela Geller declared in a statement: "It's outrageous that the SPLC designates a group dedicated to protecting the freedom of speech, the freedom of conscience, and legal equality for all Americans as a 'hate group.' The SPLC, instead of standing for those freedoms, is carrying water for the real haters, the real neo-Nazi Jew-haters: the forces of Islamic supremacism and jihad. The SPLC doesn't even have a category for Islamic jihadi groups. The greatest threat facing our nation, our people, our world, and they are shilling for them."

SIOA Associate Director Robert Spencer pointed out that the Islamic supremacist hate group known as the Council on American-Islamic Relations, which the Justice Department designated an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case and has had several of its officials convicted of jihad terror activity, is not listed by the SPLC as a hate group. "That the SPLC would list SIOA and not CAIR as a hate group shows the hollowness and political motivation of the SPLC's classifications," Spencer said.

The Washington Times reported in November 2010 that "the SPLC is a small, hard-left political activist outfit known for promoting a panoply of radical liberal causes. The Center holds itself out as an objective monitor of potentially violent or subversive hate groups such as the Ku Klux Klan, skinheads and other white supremacists.

"But in recent years - and with increasing abandon - the SPLC has leveraged (abused, really) its rapidly decreasing political capital and waning credibility to target and undermine organizations that, rather than dealing in the business of genuine 'hate,' instead pose a direct threat to the advancement of postmodern secular-socialism generally - and to the Democratic Party specifically. ... In sum, the SPLC has become an extremist wolf in 'watchdog' clothing."

"My group is a human rights group," Geller said. "And these people are taken seriously? This is the morally inverted state of the world."

Ah, where to begin. Tonight's Saturday night feature, A Streetcar Named Desire, is American cinema at its most brilliant, poignant, painful, and emotionally violent. I have seen this film so many times, and each time is as moving and jarring as the first. It shakes me to my core. But my words cannot do this film justice, as Bosley Crowther said in his 1951 Times review: "But comments cannot do justice to the substance and the artistry of this film. You must see it to appreciate it. And that we strongly urge you to do."

Indeed. Forgive the subtitles, but I could only find it on a Romanian web-hosting site :)

Obama Administration Formally Opening Nation’s 'First Climate Science Center'

(CNSNews.com) - The U.S. Interior Department is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday to officially open the Alaska Climate Science Center -- the first of its kind in the nation, the Interior Department says.

Located at the University of Alaska-Anchorage, the center is the first of eight regional climate science centers the federal government plans to establish across the U.S.

The U.S. Geological Survey is taking the lead in establishing the centers.

Et Tu, Sandmonkey?

A little note now for all the commentators who approvingly quoted and celebrated Sandmonkey, treated him as a martyr during the riots, and discover that now he's joined the conventional liberal Egyptian line in essentially calling for tearing up the Camp David accords, remilitarizing the Sinai and opening up the border to Hamas. Oh he's phrasing it better than that, but that's what it amounts to.

Some like Barry Rubin are giving him the benefit of the doubt. I'm not. There's a certain commonality to these things. We got played. And it isn't the first time. The difference between Curveball and Sandmonkey isn't as big as you might think. There are no shortage of "dissidents" from the Arab world with a focused narrative, who are very good at telling us what we want to hear, when we want to hear it, and even capable of believing it themselves, before shifting on a dime. They are often members of prominent families, often with ties to previous regimes (according to his blog, Sandmonkey's grandfather was a general in the royal guard, that would be the royal family overthrown by Mubarak's predecessors) and often sympathetic and believable. Word to the wise, be wary. Be smart. And don't be taken in.

I didn't pay the monkey too much mind or devote space to his tweets when on January 28th, he initially tweeted:

Sandmonkey tweets: today's protest is NOT about Muslim Brotherhood & shouldn't be portrayed as such.

Although I did post on his arrest. Rubin's assessment of things tends to be overrated and wrong.

I never thought Sandmonkey was going to battle and defeat Qaradawi and the Muslim Brotherhood, but this takes the cake.
