The Annie Taylor Award for Courage from the David Horowitz Freedom Center is awarded annually to people who have demonstrated unusual courage in adverse conditions and great danger.
I am deeply honored and humbled to be one of this year's recipients of the award. My hero, Oriana Fallaci, is a previous recipient of this honor. I attended that historic evening on November 30, 2005. She was honored for "the heroism and the values" that rendered her "a symbol of the fight against Islamic fascism and a knight of the freedom of humankind."
I join a small but illustrious group of Annie Taylor Award winners that includes legend Rush Limbaugh, author Ann Coulter, former Attorney General John Ashcroft, civil rights leader Ward Connerly, human rights activist Armando Vallederes, Georgia Democrat Senator Zell Miller, film director Cyrus Nowrasteh, Swift Boat veteran John O'Neill, Iranian dissident Amir Abbas Fakhravar, activist Phyllis Schlafly, et al....
I am overwhelmed.
It is an important gathering. Should you wish to join us, go here.
The David Horowitz Freedom Center will be holding its Restoration Weekend November 18 - 21, 2010 at The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. Prominent authorities and political figures will enlighten audiences at this important annual event.
The Center will be celebrating the sixteenth anniversary of this event. The Weekend activities begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday the 18th and conclude at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday the 21st.
We are excited to announce that among the confirmed speakers are:
Newt Gingrich, David Horowitz, Liz Cheney, Ann Coulter, Andrew Klavan, Robert Spencer, Frank Gaffney, Monica Crowley, John Yoo, Marc Thiessen, Michael Barone, Ralph Peters, Caroline Glick, Pastor John Hagee, Rob Pollock, Fred Barnes, Senator Jeff Sessions, Congressmen Ed Royce and Steven King, Emmett Tyrrell, Bill Gertz, Doug Schoen, Ron Radosh, Steven Moore, Arizona State Senators Russell Pearce and Thayer Verschoor, Mark Krikorian, S.E. Cupp, Lee Smith, General Paul Vallely, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, Fred Barnes and Pat Caddell.
Each year, as a part of this event, we honor the troops and their families. This year we will be joined by representatives from the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, inlucing Colonel John Carney, Dr. Jim Lewis, Country music star and former Army Ranger Keni Thomas and a keynote by former Army Chief of Staff General Peter Schoomaker.

Congratulations, Pamela, God knows you richly deserves the award! i won't be able to attend the ceremony but I will rejoice all the same.

I am overwhelmed. Speechless even (if that is possible.)
And I don't care how cornball this sounds but it is Atlas's award, your award. It was you. It was the readers.
The left despises me, the right is afraid of what I say but my readers are fearless. And it was Atlas readers who put the blog on the map and forwarded my articles and made noise and took action and helped bring these issues to the forefront of the national dialogue.
That's the truth.

Boy, have you earned it. And I’m sure Oriana is just as much an admirer of you, as you are of her. How could she not?
Posted by: KrazyKafir | Monday, November 08, 2010 at 04:16 PM
I've had Atlas bookmarked for years and know few bloggers who stand as firmly as you do for what they believe. They couldn't have made a better choice. A richly deserved Mazel Tov!

Oriana Fallaci is your hero Pam, whilst YOU will always be mine.
The Award is more than deserved.
I wish I had wings so I could fly across the pond and be amongst you all at the presentation.

Congratulations Pamela! You truly deserve this award! When I think about what you and Robert Spencer are doing, I sometimes choke up with tears. I thank God for you two. Wish I had known about your blog sooner. I linked to it last year through Jihad Watch in regards to Rifqa. I have posted it a bunch of times on my local paper. About a month ago I was talking to a woman at Firestone while we were getting our cars fixed. I started talking about Rifqa and she had heard of her! Said she heard about her and decided to Google her to learn more. I hope she found out from my posts regarding her and my links to your website. I don't know where else she would have heard about it! Certainly not our lamestream newpaper (except for my links to Atlas!).
Your blog inspired me so much that I hopped in my car and drove up to the Rally for Rifqa and drove back up for her hearing in Dec. We couldn't get into the hearing because of the press, but when she came out to use the bathroom she smiled and waved at me. That was worth 1000 nights on the town!
I never would have known about her plight if not for you and Spencer. Wish I could have spent more time talking with you. Did get to spend the evening talking with Spencer until 3 am! Such a privilege! It was both of you that put her plight on the map and I trul believe she is alive because of you Pamela and Robert Spencer and Alan Kornman (he has a radio show in Florida and he first got wind of it and started shining the light on it).
Pamela, you and Robert helped give it the national attention it so desperately needed.
Again, congratulations!! I am sooo grateful to you and Robert.

I won't be able to attend; but certainly applaud you for this, Pamela. There are many things you could have done in life; instead you chose the good fight. I read once that Casanova told smart women they were beautiful, and beautiful women they were smart. What would he have said to you? And, would it have made a difference? Heh. I think you're a little bit too smart for Casanova.

Pamela: I admire you more than I can say. So much so that I have a blessing said for you at vespers twice a week. I also pray for your privately. You are a smart and courageous woman, and we are blessed to have you to provide leadership in such an important time.
Posted by: ahem | Monday, November 08, 2010 at 07:06 PM
This is very important for you, Pamela. You now stand in significant company. I can use this if anyone challenges me about following a far right lunatic. I can now say, "What the hell are you talking about, she's won an award for courage that's also been awarded to John Ashcroft, Ann Coulter, The Swift Boat Veterans, Zell Miller, Rush Limbaugh. She's not a far right lunatic; she's a tad right of center lunatic"
Bout time people started standing by you.

Pamela, I do not have the right words to express my admiration. You deserve this and a thousand honors more. Above all may you be protected and comforted and know that you are making an enormous difference for those of us who know that you are absolutely correct but are surrounded by the fools and liars who constantly say that Islam is the relion of piece. You are my hero and seeing you, even from a distance, on 9/11/10 was a moment I will never forget. Thank you for everything you do. You a blessing and a light in my life. Rachelle

david has been my special warrior for decades. he has taken on the cultural war with full force and RECENTLY i have discovered you.. you are brave, courageous, gutsy, beautiful, smart and a true warrior
in our battle on the islamic issue..your film and music recommendations are outstanding too..... we were both born in the five towns.. me in 1933..and i have been writing guest columns for a local paper since 2001 on the islamist problem only.. to think that YOU are the catalyst for the history making exposure of the mega mosque story. your efforts will make the history books .. remember the firing of juan williams
was based on the discussion of o'reilly's remarks on the mosque on the tv show the view ..
the election was historical and your work is seminal in our current political life..Zei Gezundt

p.s. friends, it is not over. it is just begun, this process of taking our country and society back, and restoring the beliefs of our forefathers, and in protecting and advancing our heritage. ms. geller leads the way. just don't follow her, but follow her example, and you assert yourself and be a leader in your community, as well. all it takes is work, committment, and just more than a little courage just every now and again.

I've purchased your book as well as Robert's for my library and they are now part of our collection. So when our students research these topics, it will be your information they use as a source. At least this group of students will learn the truth! I'll let you know if/when there's a book challenge :)

dittos, seconds, thirds etc. to all the good comments above.
You speak truth to the alliance from hell; the Marxist-Left and militant Islam.
Your true courage is that you do not just "opinionate" behind a keyboard but you've taken substantial personal risks by leading rallies in places like Orlando, Columbus OH and lower Manhattan.
Your blog is a rallying point and it is creating a real world network.
You're been a hero and a leader when most of us were too discouraged or intimidated to speak up.
You deserve every bit of this honor.

It indeed, requires "Courage" to enter the arenas you choose, to combat the dangerous forces of hatred and corruption you take on so gracefully, to provide support to real victims in our midst, and last but not least, to instigate so many bold forums where good Americans and heroes have a platform from which to speak.
You join a lofty crowd, including the great Ariana Fellaci. And it's just where you deserve to be. You deserve this, and I hope your daughters know what a great and valiant mother they have.
