*** Join SIOA and FDI on Sepember 11, 2010 at 2pm, on Park Place (between Church and West Broadway) as we pay our respects to the murdered and demonstrate against the Ground Zero mega mosque opening on September 11, 2011. ***
I witnessed the embarrassing and silly charade this morning of a panel of puppets voting unanimously to allow the demolition of a building that was part of the 911 Islamic attack to make way for the construction of the triumphal mosque on the cherished site of Ground Zero. I say puppets because every person on the Landmarks Commission was appointed by Ayatollah Mike Bloomberg. The "911 mayor" has given us the bum's rush.
Not one angry man. Not one. What a travesty.
The Landmarks Preservation Commission voted 9-0, saying the 152-year-old building that is just blocks from the site of the Sept. 11 attack could be demolished, as it was not a landmark. I shouted, "shame on you" and was joined by many others. Daisy Khan gloated and applauded gleefully. I find Imam Rauf and Daisy Khan's callousness towards the pain and grief they are causing to be radically intolerant.
Waiting on line to get in .............
Action shot
What were they expecting...patriots?
Getting ready for the circus of puppets
Daisy Khan, the fix was in.
The city's Landmarks Preservation Commission's vote rejected the landmarking of a 19th century building with its Italian Renaissance Palazzo style that most recently served as a Burlington Coat Factory. That designation would have prevented its demolition and foiled plans to build a 13-story Islamic community center that includes a prayer room.
Critics have called the proposed facility a mosque and said construction so close to the site of the World Trade Center where 3,000 people died in an attack by mililtant Muslims was insensitive and an insult.
"I've come to the conclusion 45-47 Park Place does not rise to the level of a city landmark," commission Chairman Robert Tierney said today.(more here)
Bin Laden/Al Qaeda Funding Ground Zero Mosque Imam RaufNew Yorkers told ABCNews.com that the idea of a mosque is not the problem, but the Cordoba Initiatve is just too close to the city's most painful scar and has struck many as insensitive and cruel.
Robert Engel's office on Church Street, would look right into the proposed center. It's not a prospect he or many of his co-workers are looking forward to, he said.
"I don't think they should do it. It's too close," Engel said. "It's a slap in the face."
Post-meeting feeding frenzy
UPDATE: Islamic supremacist, co-conspirator CAIR smear and libel brave Americans and 911 families expressign their shock and grief at this insult.
