Lyon, France - A 15-year-old French schoolboy sprayed a teacher with teargas after she described al-Qaeda as a "terrorist group", she told reporters on Tuesday as prosecutors began their investigation.
"I had just explained that the attacks on September 11, 2001 were carried out by the terrorist organisation al-Qaeda, as is written in the text book," said the history teacher, speaking on condition of anonymity."He stood up and declared that al-Qaeda is not terrorist and that neither is the Taliban," she said, adding that the boy had then pulled out a spray can and doused her and a teaching assistant with teargas.
Neither victim was seriously hurt.
Al-Qaeda, a global organisation under the nominal leadership of Saudi-born militant Osama bin Laden, boasted of carrying out the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington.
The attacks - in which hijacked airliners were crashed into the World Trade Centre, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania - killed just under 3 000 people, the vast majority of them American civilians.
Both staff members, who work in the small school in the central French village of Largentiere, made a criminal complaint against the boy, state prosecutors confirmed.
A youth court will be convened in the nearby town of Privas on March 16 to hear the case. - AFP

Muslim Youth Attacks Teacher (2005)
At schools in Holland there are many problems with Moroccan youth. Most do not finish their school education and there are many stories about violence against teachers. The teachers do not receive any support from their management or the police. Thing is, Dutch schools, are not allowed to remove aggressive students. They can only reassign them to another school, but other schools are also not waiting for an aggressive student. Last year, one student even shot a teacher through his head, and a fellow student went on the streets to demonstrate to support the murderer.
Now Dutch language blog GeenStijl offers a real class room recording, in which a Moroccan student demands respect from his teacher.
The boy wanted to visit Mister Smith, but the teacher does not allow it. The boy then shouts: “get up, get up …” and “let’s go, let’s go …”. They found the video clip on a well known forum Maroc.nl (a subsidized Moroccan website with many anti-semitic and anti-Western postings).

Weblog GeenStijl.nl informs us that the student in the movie was removed from the school by police officers. The name of the school is ROC-Gildevaart in the city of Nieuwegein (near Utrecht). The school says the teacher handled the situation very professional and calm: an example how we like people to handle in incidents like these. They do not want to forbid the use of camera phones in the school. The school sees the movies as an educational tool to start a discussion around the incident.
ROC schools are trade schools at the bottom rung of the Dutch education system. They are the most dangerous schools and in the cities the majority of the students are from immigrant families.
