The Khalil Gibran Arabic [islamic] School is back in the news after an incompetent dhimmi EEOC ruled that the jihadist principal who was forced to resign had been discriminated against. Telling the truth is now discrimination? Dhabah Almontaser, the devout Muslim principal, even whined about Atlas in her lawsuit.
So Almontaser can whitewash the genocide against the Jews, but you can't call her on it. Get it?
KGIA principal designate Debbie aka Dhabah Almontaser is a documented Islamist who does da’wa (Islamist proseltysing) in the guise of a “multicultural educator”. She was honored for her infiltration of the NY educational system at a Muslim Unity event organized by the Islamic Internet University/ Study Islam.com where she shared the stage with 65 of the most radical Islamist leaders in North America. The opening of KGIA will be hailed as a victory for da’wa in the the United States (Note that the pages on the internet about the Muslim Unity event appear to have been recently removed.) Even the name of the school is taqiya -- Islamic lies to deceive and advance Islam. The Friends of Gibran Council asked the New York City Department of Education to cease using Khalil Gibran’s name for the Khalil Gibran International Academy back in August of 2007.
Long time Atlas readers will remember that I was part of the initial effort to stop this madrassa from opening. There was no valid reason to have a publicly funded Arabic school in NYC fresh on the heels of 911. What insanity. I first blogged about it here and here in May 2007.
The school was voted down in one part of Brooklyn (Park Slope) in May 2007, and so they moved on to another location. The "specialized language school" canard is fatuous. Mark Steyn explained the real implications of an "Arabic school and the Arabic language" here in my interview with him.
"It shows how we mischaracterized, we willfully misunderstand Islam. Yes, on the face of it, yes, Arabic is a language. In a sense there would be no difference between opening a foreign language school -- a Spanish language school or a french language school -- but in fact Arabic is more than a language. It is explicated the language of Islam, so in that sense it is part of the Islamic religious imperial project. Radical Islam advances through the Arabic language. And you go all kinds of places that aren't in the Arab world now, like Pakistan, Indonesia, Central Asia, the Balkans, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Canada and the United States, and you will here those Imams preaching in Arabic. Arabic is not just another language like French or Italian, it is the spearhead of an ideological project that is deeply opposed to the United States.
I was part of the 2007 Stop the Madrassah coalition (a wonderful group of warriors including Irene Alter, Pamela Hall, and Sara Springer, among others) but a dhimmi Mayor Bloomberg and School Chancellor Klein dismissed the obvious warnings and jihad connections (one of their advisers threatened NYU with a Danish Cartoon JIHAD).

Despite all this, it opened, and it is a disaster.

The Muslim principal who cried “bomb!” in a crowded school has left chaos and violence in the classrooms she created. And now, she’s moved a step closer to returning.
It is against this tumultuous backdrop that we learn Brooklyn’s Khalil Gibran International Academy — founded in 2007 by firebrand ex-Principal Debbie Almontaser as the city’s first public Arabic-themed school — this year has suspended more than one-third of its student body for infractions ranging from hitting to weapons.
“Every day, they’re fighting,” said Voneeda Black, who nervously sends her 6-year-old to the elementary school with which Gibran shares a building.
“You don’t see parents,” she said. “Three or four times a week, there are cops here, if not more.”
It may be the worst record in the city.
So I think it appropriate to take a hard look at Gibran — a school founded on the flawed notion that segregating Arabists will lead to harmony.
Since it opened, the tiny school on the edge of DUMBO has had one of the city’s highest rates of violence. A teacher was taunted by kids as a “terrorist” in 2008. It’s gotten steadily worse.
More than a third — one in three! — of Gibran’s 114 students, grades six through eight, have been suspended this year, according to the Department of Education.
Twenty-two were yanked from school for five days. Eight kids were considered so rowdy or dangerous, they were banned from class six to 10 days.
Nineteen fights led to student injuries or intimidation. In two other cases, weapons were used. This number has climbed from last year’s 17 violent incidents and 26 suspensions.
