I don't believe this is sheer stupidity. It does not hold. Would Beyonce perform for Pol Pot, Stalin, or Idi Amin if they threw her a few pieces of silver? There is not much difference between these men morally, only their skill or ineptitude as dictators.
Is she so hard up for the dough? I could use the money but I never ....
It is not complicated. Force and mind are opposites. So to which does Beyonce subscribe?
There is no moral equivocation here. Perhaps Beyonce would consider Adolph H not such a bad fella, considering how good he was to his dogs.
Beyonce's moral cowardice is a function of her choice here. She declined the job of upholding the good because it was good; she fears opposing evil because it is was evil. Either way, her cowardice is the obvious consequence of discarding morality as inconsequential.
It has not been confirmed yet what amount was paid to Beyonce to perform at the event, but last year, Mariah Carey reportedly pocketed USD 1 million for performing at Nikki Beach.
Some vacationers on the island were apparently aghast with what they saw.
"Jigga [Jay-Z], Beyonce & Usher were @ Nikki Beach performing for Khadafy family," DJ Sam Young , one of the vacationers wrote on his twitter page.
Now this low life should give a free concert for all of Qadafi's victims. I wonder how the families of the Lockerbie bombing feel about her royal assness.
With role models like this, is it any wonder our youth are the zombied generation?
UPDAYE: The NY Post has all the fugly details here (hat tip Pamela H):
Just a week earlier, on Christmas Day, Hannibal, 33 -- also known as Moutassim -- allegedly attacked his wife, Aline Skaf, in his suite at Claridge's in London. Three of his security staff were arrested for obstructing police. Skaf was reportedly hospitalized with a broken nose while Hannibal was whisked away in a diplomatic car.
In July 2008, he and his then-pregnant wife were arrested on charges of beating their servants in a Geneva hotel. They denied the charges, which were dropped after the servants received compensation.
Hannibal was also arrested in 2005 in a Paris hotel for allegedly punching Skaf. He then allegedly brandished a 9mm handgun and went on a furniture-smashing rampage in his hotel suite. No charges were brought.
A year earlier, he led a police chase on the Champs Elysees, reaching speeds of 90 mph in his Porsche. No charges were brought after Libyan diplomats apologized. And in 2001, he allegedly attacked three Italian policemen with a fire extinguisher, but demanded diplomatic immunity.
