Police Sgt. Kimberly Munley credited with ending Fort Hood gunman Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan's rampage

The hero cop who ended the bloody rampage at Fort Hood had been directing traffic moments before she confronted the gunman and pumped four bullets into him despite being shot herself.

Civilian police Sgt. Kimberly Munley and her partner responded within three minutes of reported gunfire Thursday afternoon, Lt. Gen. Bob Cone said Friday.

Munley, who had been trained in active-response tactics, rushed into the building and confronted the shooter as he was turning a corner, Cone said.

"It was an amazing and an aggressive performance by this police officer," Cone said.

Munley was only a few feet from crazed Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan when she opened fire.

Wounded in the exchange of gunfire, Munley was reported in stable condition at a local hospital.

The hero cop spent Thursday night phoning fellow officers to let them know she was fine and to find out about casualties in the attack - the deadliest ever on a military base in the U.S., Cone said.

Cone said Munley's aggressive response training taught her that "if you act aggressively to take out a shooter you will have less fatalities."

What probably should concern us all a lot more than the actual event, is that an eye witness to this was afraid of losing her job with the military for actually reporting it. How please, did we get to the point where telling the truth meant losing your job? How did Islam become so protected, that reporting the words of the killer as he did his best to slaughter all his coworkers is a crime and a firing offense?

In the last 24 hours all we've been hearing is 'what a tragedy' this rampage was. This woman is a hero, the only real tragedy in this situation that she wasn't able to kill this terrorist.
It is utterly impossible today to read or hear anything out of the mainstream media without feeling nausea: the bullshit is beyond belief. The banners at CNN, CBS, even FOX: 'trying to piece together WHY this happened', 'trying to find clues to the mystery', on and on ad nauseum.
The term 'domestic terrorist' will not be heard; the phrase 'improper vetting of Muslim soldiers' will not be heard; the 'failure of the US military to discipline and DISCHARGE a soldier who by all evidence to date, clearly, openly, proudly displayed what not long ago would have been termed traitorous beliefs'.
And for this to happen to soldiers on the eve of deployment, most (if not all) having prior tours of duty, to think that their last moments on this Earth was to die at the hands of this traitorous Islamic savage, must be unbearable for the immediate families.
We can expect NOTHING in the way of anything resembling the truth in the coming weeks.

Sgt. Munley is a credit to police officers everywhere. I bet if you asked her she would say she was just doing her job. Texans are awesome, even transplanted ones!(not that I'm bragging or anything)All of the victims and their families are in my thoughts and prayers. I wish that there was more I could do. Can't even give blood anymore due to overseas tour of duty 17 years ago.

Ours is an all volunteer military. It doesn't matter if you just enlisted for the GI Bill or following a multi-generation family tradition of service, by the time you finish training you are aware of the potential price that might be paid the service of our country.
I remember the feelings I had over 17 years ago when I returned from my overseas tour and landed at DFW airport. Texas accents, men in Stetsons, wranglers and boots(um,um, good) I knew I was home safe. That this happened like Lt. General Cone said "at their home" makes it that much more horrorific and shocking.

Regarding PTSD: there are many of our former and still serving soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines that suffer from it in various degrees, but none other that I know of has deliberately planned a violent episode. His giving away his furniture, etc. yesterday morning says that he knew exactly what he was doing. This PTSD by Proxy is bull crapt! It does to those actually suffering PTSD what a false cry of rape does to actual victims of rape.

The families of the victims must sue the officers who allowed this demented monster to continue in the armed service even though they KNEW he was a self-proclaimed violent and dangerous risk --- soak them for MILLIONS --- or BILLIONS. They are actually the ones who are responsible, not the perpetrator, who shouldn't have been allowed to come near any soldiers because of his mental disorder. Why is a Moslem allowed in the Armed Services of the USA? NO Moslem can be trusted, they are all vipers who speak with a forked tongue, lie and sneak around and shoot people in the back --- typical Moslem behaviour. Every person named Mohammed can be gleefully deported, or better still mowed down like any such menace.

We "Christians" aren't immuned to radicals either. We have had Jim Jones and Timothy McVey. It has been reported that President and Mrs. Bush visited those hospitalized from this terrorist attack. Regardless of what Uh-O does or does not say and who he does or does not credit for heroism, I'll just bet my bottom dollar that Sgt. Munley was graced with a visit from someone whose genuine respect and admiration she will forever cherish. She probably appreciates the visit from the former President more anyway, as this visit to him was more important than Mr. Obama with his shout-outs, health care suck-up rallies in the House of Representatives, or a relaxing getaway at Camp David.

God help us, for we know not what we've gotten ourselves into.
