America should look to Europe -- if, for nothing else, a grim glimpse of where the dark road of islamisation will take us. It appears Sarkozy is taking a page from Wilders' playbook.
A few months ago when French President Nicholas Sarkozy announced that burqas were not welcome in France, I had a feeling that was just a small step in France's battle with Islam. Now more of the saving France from Islam plan has been revealed.
France is to adopt a series of measures to 'reaffirm pride' in the country and combat Islamic fundamentalism.France to launch national pride campaign in battle against Islamic fundamentalism

They include everybody receiving lessons in the nation's Christian history and children singing the national anthem.
Using words which infuriated ethnic minority groups and Socialist opponents, immigration minister Eric Besson also said he wanted 'foreigners to speak better French'.
He called for all recent arrivals to be monitored by 'Republican godfathers', charged with helping immigrants to integrate better.
His proposed measures contrast sharply with the situation in Britain where 'citizenship education' centres on multicultural diversity.
M Besson, who was born in the former French protectorate of Morocco, suggested a debate on national identity' entitled 'What does it mean to be French?'
He also reignited the debate about face and body-covering Muslim veils, saying they should definitely be banned.
As well as providing civic lessons for adults - including classes about the country's Christian history and liberal political institutions - the government will encourage school children to sing the national anthem at least once a year.
His proposed measures contrast sharply with the situation in Britain where 'citizenship education' centres on multicultural diversity and the European Union, while 'God Save The Queen' is not even taught in schools.
In an interview broadcast on national TV, Mr Besson said : 'It's necessary to reaffirm the values of national identity and the pride of being French.
'I think, for example, that it would be good for all young French people to have the chance to sing The Marseillaise at least once a year.'
Making clear that radical Islam was a threat, Mr Besson said: 'In France, the nation and the republic remain the strongest ramparts against ... fundamentalist tendencies. France is diversity, and France is unity.'
Mr Besson defended a decision to send illegal Afghan immigrants - all of them Muslim - back to Kabul on charter flights organised in conjunction with the British government last week, saying there would be many more.
More than 21,000 people have been deported from France this year - with 27,000 the ultimate target, said Mr Besson.
He also reignited the debate about face and body-covering Muslim veils, saying they should definitely be banned.
'For me, there should be no burqas on the street,' said Mr Besson. 'The burqa is against national values - an affront to women's rights and equality.'

As the Muslims armies raged across the middle east and into Europe barely 100 years after the death of their prophet of the sword Mohammed, France's Charles Martel has been credited with stopping the upward advance of the army of the Umayyad Caliphate. Named as the Battle of Lourds, most historians consider this the turning point and the starting point of the Christian crusades against these Muslim armies. The Umayyad actually made it into what is considered central France.
Now France is pitted against a different approach in the form of the aggressive ideology itself and France's own weakness of allowing that Trojan horse into their vulnerable midst over the past 35 years. Could France do what they should have done as the Nazi threat grew around them in 1938 and even earlier? Could they recognize the threat that is Islam better now or is it too late? Could they redeem their honor by once again turning this archaic ideology back as Charles Martel once did in 732 AD? Or will they take the route of appeasing players in the EU like the British who still have not learned the lessons of 1938 and who saw people at that time like Winston Churchill as some kind of nut when he recognized the threat that was the 3rd Reich. Churchill no doubt would once again rise to the occassion against this threat when one reads from his book "The River Wars" written over 100 year ago on defining the Muslim condition.
It is hard to know demographically how many Mohammedans can be found in France since they do not note religious backgrounds in their population studies, but some put it at over 10 Percent and growing.
Can Sarkozy change the tide? difficult to tell since it is an upward battle when to many political hacks are already surrendering to a group who is accustomed to yelling to ge their way, they are not passive on their determination so you cannot afford to back down to any of their demands.

Right on Mackie - my husband was a direct descendant of Charles Martel "The Hammer" and so are my children, a fact that has made me very proud. However it was known as the Battle of Tours (not Lourds) and it took place near Poitiers - not that far from Paris (or Isle de France) as the area was known. If anyone is interested in the history of this battle, the Catholic Encyclopedia online is an excellent source.

French children are to sing the national anthem once a year? It should be at least once a week. The idea is to make them proud of being French (that did not used to be an issue for the French). The picture with this article is creepy..a word I do not think I have used in years.

yes carol,,, when i was a child we said the pledge of allegiance each morning. there is something deeply meaningful in being instilled with a reverence and pride in your forebears and cultural history. and if the mohammedans want to maintain their cultures, and it's attendant "law," they need to mosey on back to those sandy paradises for which they obviously yearn,,, witnessed by their refusal to become a blended part of the fabric of the societies in which they are attempting to inflict their poison.
as for the pic being creepy, my thought was eery, so yeah,,, it's humanoid, but it ain't human
not islamophobic

What I find so incongrous is that all these Moslems who swarm into France from Algeria, Morocco and other African lands further south because the governments of these countries cannot supply them with an education, a job or a promising future, expect France to do this. These people do not bring one thing with them to benefit France, they only want to take from the coffers of France and be subsidized [which they are] and riot because France does not coddle them even more. These Moslems are not only parasites, they are dangerous parasites, remember the case of Ilan Halemi. They would not dare to riot in their native lands, such behaviour would not be tolerated for five minutes. but France tolerates it. The only answer is to repatriate them all. These people are the problem of the lands where they were born, not France's problem. And as the Danish psychologist Nicolai Sennels, who worked with young Moslem criminals in the prison in Copenhagen, wrote in his seminal book, the integration of Moslems into Western society is not possible. They can only feel at home in an Islamic land, where they can live in the culture that has nurtured them.
