6:40 pm: The diseased and utterly morally left at work again (I talked of this very evil here, earlier this week) - photoshopping Palin family pictures here. Do you believe this represents America? (hat tip Dave)
Bear in mind, this is not the first time they have made fun of and photoshopped Trig. And these are not fringe blogs. These are some of the biggest blogs in the left wing blogosphere. (Wonkette, Tbogg, Firedoglake etc.)
CNN (!) video. I LOVE HUH!
5:00 pm: FOX is running Palin's remarks. They must read Atlas :)
Turn on FOX, decide for yourself. And please, someone vidgrab it!
4:46 pm: Stop the ACLU has rounded up reaction from the right blogosphere. He culled the wrong opinion. They don't get it.
4:30 pm: My take? If Palin is anything like I think she is (know she is), Obama's treasonous presidency is responsible for this. She, like all patriotic Americans, is shocked by what is happening. Obama is destroying this country. She knows it. We all know it. We need a leader. She is answering our call.
She did not quit. She is going to get into the fight to save America. Watch what happens.
4:23 PM: FOX news cut her news conference. 7 days of Michael Jackson and they did not allow us to hear her remarks in full. First Iran, now this.
From what I saw - this is not a woman who is retiring. She is assuming the mantle. This was a campaign speech. She was amazing. I will try to get text or video.
4:09 pm: Liveblogging her announcement........... she is speaking (no teleprompter, how refreshing!) about the sacrifice great Americans have made on this eve of Independence day and what our founding fathers fought and died for.
"I am showing my independence"
She is outlining all of the achievements of her administration.
"living beyond our means today is irresponsible for tomorrow"
"vetoed debt ridden stimulus dollars"
"being right is better than being popular"
She is going after every Obama move without naming him. I have got to get a copy of these remarks.
The ethics legislation she championed was used by an army of political operatives who filed 15 charges against her, draining the public resources. She and her staff spend most of their day on the charges that have been dismissed, incurring over half a million in legal fees. That is not serving the people of Alaska.
The biggest problem today is that people are apathetic. They go with the flow. "Todd and I are fishermen and know only dead fish go with the flow".
This is a great speech.
She believes in and wants to fight for free enterprise, small government, national security .....
FOX NEWS JUST CUT OFF HER SPEECH. WTF???????????????
4:05 pm: The 2012 campaign began today!
3:47 pm: We are waiting for her press conference. There is lots of speculation. I am paying it no mind. In my opinion, it will allow her to spend more time in the lower 48 states without the left accusing her of neglecting her duties as Governor.
Her husband, Todd Palin, said she wants to do things to help the country that she can't do while fulfilling her role as Governor.
UPDATE: Governor Palin is stepping down! We are awaiting her announcement. She is the right's best hope for 2012. She is handing over control to Lt Governor Sean Parnell. He will be sworn in July 25.
I hope the reason is to run. Her country needs her desperately.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is being reported that Governor Sarah Palin will announce that she will not be running for reelection as Governor of Alaska. Eureka! This is magnificent news. The thrilla from Wasilla! Hope! Change! Seriously.
She has been mercilessly attacked. Brutal, but like water off a duck's back. Those on the right who have suffered the slings and arrows of the vile left smear machine (the depths of which are unthinkable to decent men, here) know that the more they throw, the greater you are. The more vile, disgusting, outrageous the smear, the more envious and afraid you know the destroyers are.
The Democrats and their propaganda machine, the dinosaur media, will continue to attempt to destroy and marginalize this
wonder woman. New media better pick up the slack. Jugular for jugular.
The hatred of the good for being the good. That is Palin. I am unmoved by assertions that Palin needs more foreign policy or more this and that. She has the key ingredient to great leadership - common sense. I am not concerned that she won't get up to speed on the nitty gritty details of national and international issues. Her thinking, her epistemology is good.
She has common sense, a moral compass and a very definite understanding of good and evil.
Best of all, she is not a product of the limpwristed, spineless, dickless GOP. She is outside the box. She has grit. She has balls. She is my kind of kishka.

I would agree that she has guts. With the right motives, to lift up and reinforce the country, and not to assert an agenda. (I had to look up 'kishka'). Kishka works.

love it!!!!:Time for someone new, something new, and even not completing her term as Gov, she still has more executive experience than H.Obama ever did.
Posted by: Rex | Friday, July 03, 2009 at 04:03 PM
Just my Canadian observation.
She must scare the hell out of the left.
How are they going to react to this, I believe an even bigger trashing.
She has more guts than the entire Democratic Party.
If nothing else this will shake more of the biased weasels out of the tree and
It will also demonstrate to the American People just how screwed up the media is.
Good for Sarah.

I'm sorry, I can't join the Palin cheering section - for many of the reasons Debbie Schlussel had outlined.
But I wonder Pamela, how will your devotion to Sarah Palin affect your support of Allen West? I think he is a much better choice for our president, but if he doesn't get some recognition from the party he will likely remain in relative obscurity.
Posted by: Richard | Friday, July 03, 2009 at 04:25 PM
If it is true that she intends to run, the main worry is that the Obama election was not fair and honest, and future ones are even less likely to be be fair and honest. So she may be prevented from winning.

After listening to the talking heads on the cable news channels for an hour or so, I'm somewhere between annoyed and amused.
Everyone, with the exception of Mike Huckabee and a Congressman from Texas, seems obsessed with the idea that there is some dark hidden agenda behind Sarah Palin's announcement today that she is resigning her post of governor of Alaska, effective July 26.
They seem to have forgotten who they were listening to.
I think the simple truth is that the harassment from the haters on the left, with their attacks in the media and chickenshit "ethics" complaints and Letterman-style sniping have made it impossible for her to give the citizens of Alaska their money's worth as the state's chief executive.
She did the only honorable thing - she removed the lightning rod from the governor's office and assured the state would have a governor who was free to focus on the affairs of Alaska by handing the reins over to the lieutenant governor.
And she doubtless recognizes the move frees her to play a more prominent and effective role in fighting the good fight, supporting the people who work for a living against the people who vote for a living.
The left is quite obviously terrified of the way she connects with Joe and Sally Sixpack, the people they thought they owned.
The Resistance has been looking for someone around whom to coalesce. I think she could be that person.

Actually, the more I think about this, the happier I am. It kind of bothered me to think that Palin would, like McCain, settle down to work after the election, as though things were normal in the country and business could continue as usual. It heartens me to think that she will no longer go on in this environment, that she will not be under Obama's thumb and forced to go along with much of his insanity.
Posted by: Rodney | Friday, July 03, 2009 at 05:37 PM
You can't help but feel love for your country, when you listen to her. I love this woman.
Posted by: aprilnovember811 | Friday, July 03, 2009 at 05:43 PM
Concerning her purported lack of experience and knowledge, I'm willing to bet that, if subjected to such pointed and purposeful grillings as Palin was during the campaign, Obama would be found to be quite ignorant of many things. But no one ever closely questioned him with the intention of showing him up.
I would be happy to see a debate between Palin and Obama in which neither would be given access to the questions beforehand, and in which multiple follow-up questions were permitted. I believe he would embarrass himself, badly.
Posted by: Rodney | Friday, July 03, 2009 at 05:48 PM
I don't blame her for stepping down. How can you get anything done for your State when you're hit with lawsuits every ten seconds? I think she did the best thing for Alaska.
And NOW she can spend all of her time campaigning for Presidency.
There is NO ONE in the GOP that can beat Obama other than her.
NO ONE.
Damn, I admire this woman.
And the Leftist Mafia Media Machine is scared to death of her.
And they should be.
If she runs, I will campaign for her.
Run, Sarah, run!
Posted by: Tammy | Friday, July 03, 2009 at 05:51 PM
I'm reading this a little different. Imagine Sarah siting around with her closest advisers discussing her future. She decides she wants to keep her options open for the 2012 Presidential election. This means she should not seek a 2nd term as governor because she needs to spend so much time in the lower 48. Once the decision not to run for a 2nd term is made, they realize that the Democrats will continue to harass her with ethic charges for the remainder of this term so they can use this against her in 2012.
So she does the seemingly unorthodox. She announces she is resigning as governor. Why? She kills future ethics charges and frees herself up to campaign for GOP candidates in the 2010 elections. She also can spend a lot of time in DC and get her tutoring in.
I think this may be one of the most brilliant political moves of all time. So I say - Go Sarah!
Or maybe she is just going to fade into the distance.

Hear them moaning and screaming like vampires with the sunrays on them. Even some of fox news. Greg jarritt and Carl Cameron you know him. He's the one that can't hold his eyes open. They don't like Sarah. But Sarah makes them look in the mirror and what they see is just empty bs.liberal BS of course I bet the White man Aka John Coward McCain is teaming up now to defeat her. GO SARAH!!
She's much more qualified than Ozero. the community organizer.

I've been reading all sorts of theories as to why Gov. Palin resigned: The tsunami of legal actions bankrupting her, the stress on her family, and even her or a family members health. Whether the explanation is one of these, none, or a combination, I don't care.
God bless you Sarah Palin, you've bought a great deal of hope and happiness to many people.

Makes me sick to my stomach to think about how the donks, the liberal press/MSM went after this woman AND her family,..after her children!!! What did the Republicans worry about? Playing nice!!! Would any of the donks handle or deal with anything dished out to Gov Palin????? Look how hussein attacks private citizens,..or America! Wake up America,...if the donks have accomplished anything,..it's opening our eyes that the days of playing nice are OVER!!! I have a feeling more to this story to come, more-so the fact they continue to go after Gov Palin 6 months AFTER the election!

If Sarah Palin is indeed preparing to run for President in 2012, the first thing she needs to learn how to do is to say "who cares what they think" to every critic and left wing democrat who has anything to say about her, her campaign, her family and her values. She needs to react to democrats as if they have nothing important to say because so far, what they've said, has done nothing but harm America and insult people. She needs to stick to her values, tell it from the gut. She needs to be quick to dismiss anyone who criticizes her, speaks over her or down to her. She needs to have the attitude that every time a democrat opens his/her mouth, out will come something that is not good, is deceitful, twists the truth, and misleads the people. She needs to stop being politically correct, especially in the interviews with left-wing news outfits. She needs to be above all her critics.

I wasn't entirely sold on this lady during the presidential campaign last year. I would have voted for ANYONE who had had half a chance of besting Obama. But, after listening to Palin's speech today, I am convinced of her sincerity and LOVE FOR COUNTRY. IMO, she is the ONLY possible candidate who could draw in enthusiastic crowds numbering in the tens of thousands, and as a matter of fact, she has drawn them even when NOT campaigning (compare this to the hundred or so at Biden's speech earlier this week near Erie...) As of today, I am hanging on to my earned vacation time so that I might use it to go out in the field to campaign for Palin in 2012. At least, if that is the ultimate agenda.
Do I think Allen West would serve this nation as a better president? Yes, I do, but I fear (thanks to the GOP) he is still an "unknown" and would not draw the necessary voters that Sarah Palin would.

I am so excited!! Sarah Palin has pulled the rug out of Washingtons evil dishonest feet.
She is no fool. Her family means the world to her. Do you think she would turn her back on the mess the Obaminator is making for her kids future?? Hell NO!!
She made this decision after visiting the troops.
Her love of this country knows no bounds. I believe she sees, as we do, a tragedy in the making of the destruction of America.
I wish her God Speed and hope she gets all the support she needs in her next endevour.
Posted by: Moonbeam | Friday, July 03, 2009 at 07:40 PM
I don't for a minute think she is crying uncle due to the harassment. Do you see defeat and anger in her demeanor? I don't. I see someone who is looking to the future, who has a plan.
She is playing a "deep game" against Obama and others of that ilk. But, in this case, what makes it deep is not that she has some long-range hidden agenda. It's that she says exactly what she means and then does just what she said she was doing--and that is a concept that they just cannot get their heads around or build up defenses against.
Posted by: Rodney | Friday, July 03, 2009 at 08:38 PM
The truth about Sarah Palin is that she stirs the heart of the "true" American...the American who loves this country and hates the destruction of the Obama agenda! This woman knows exactly what she is doing and more than that, she knows exactly Who the enemy is! She is one of the very few who really gets it! As for her foreign policy experience, she already has heads up on it due to the fact she knows right from wrong, she can identify the enemy, and she has bigger balls (excuse my language but there is no other word) than most of the men we have in political office now! The left hates her because she threatens their communistic destruction and takeover of America. The GOP good ole boys are afraid of her because in contrast next to her, their lack of balls is exposed. I was feeling so down today, the "death" of America is a heavy burden for any American who loves this country. I asked myself what can we do that we haven't been doing. The Tea Parties are good, but we have been lacking something, and that something is leadership! I have to say my heart leaped with joy when I first heard the news today of her stepping down! She's changing direction, but she is not stepping away. I believe she is an answer to prayer, to many prayers! People, this is one fight we cannot afford to lose! Losing is not an option! If America dies, it's lights out, the curtain is down, and the show is over. This is our time, our chance, to take back what the enemy has stolen from us, for the sake of freedom, not just for us, but the world over! When we witness the slaughter of young people fighting for freedom in Iran, then turn our eyes, it kills my soul! When I see a small third world country like Hondurous, where the people show better sense and courage than we do when they "throw the dictator bum out", I hang my head in shame as the president of the Free World sides with world dictators! People, time is short! I agree with Pam's statement...Pray for a Palace Revolution!!! God Bless America!!

BTW, my dream ticket for 2012 would be: Sarah Palin/Pam Geller. One christian, one jewish. Both women with a big set of cajonies!! :) Would absolutely love it!! Clean house, the White House!! Sweep it from top to bottom! Anyway.....just a thought.

Pamela, you are a true treasure.
Everything I read so far about Sarah resigning had me feeling so low....and then I came to Atlas and found the real heart and soul of what Sarah has stood for right here----it took you to say it in plain English so the rest of the creeps can get it right: she is a warrioress, and she is not leaving anyone high n dry! She is doing what needs to be done, and I back her 1000%.
I am so glad I read this, i feel a lot of gratitude for you and your tireless work in cherishing Truth.
Thank you Thank you Thank you....and God Bless America, God Bless Sarah Palin and her family.

Pam -
I don't think Fox cut her speech. I was watching it when it was being delivered live, and the test pattern from KTUU suddenly came up. I think the satellite link dropped. FYI.
Posted by: MathMom | Friday, July 03, 2009 at 09:58 PM
I think there are a lot of clues about what the future holds for her in her speech. She talks about how Alaska came to be...Seward's Folly...how he was mocked even though it turned out he was right about what Alaska could provide for the country.
She talked about her accomplishments...and there are so many that are relevant...like returning companies to the private sector and cutting down special interest groups.
She stands on principle, doesn't want to shackle the state with more expenses due to these stupid ethic charges.
I think she gets what the left was trying to do to her...ensure her obsolecence by making sure she and her office were bogged down with a paperstorm of baseless complaints against her...and she decided to go around them. She's not whinging for or about herself...she's explaining the situation as she sees it.
She's embarked on "Sarah's Folly"...to do what's best for Alaska, her family and for America. Now she can take it to the people, make the connections she needs to make, help conservatives win in 2010 and set up for 2012.
I think her rep on Fox today probably had to control herself to keep from squealing about what Sarah plans to do...ie, run in 2012.
I'm thinking... Palin/West.
That would be a great ticket hey.

Hey Pamela,
I hope she does run in 2012 and hope this is the beginning, not the end. I have a site for Sarah Palin 2012. She has been mis-treated from the get go. The attacks on her family were terrible, more than for any other politician. I pray that Sarah Palin will be President in 2012.

OK, I guess it's my turn to hack off a few folks........
On the surface, she up and quit. Can I (we) trust her to not do that again ?
Maybe she just couldn’t stand the media anal exam anymore that comes with the territory of being a Conservative… guess what…… then don’t get involved in elected office at any level, not even dog-catcher. That’s why I’m not in “the game”..... I’d go the bad step and launch on people heavy..... the verbal kind of open fire..... maybe even literally with toys that go bang. I know myself very well and I don’t take garbage from anyone.
Maybe she got tired of having all those absolutely insane lawsuits filed and having her family’s personal lives decimated by so-called Americans who are nothing but one action short of real evil.
Maybe she got one hell of an offer from CNN, Fox or someplace else.
Maybe she’s taking off to run for the Senate seat opening in Alaska.
Maybe she’s getting out to run for La Casa Blanca in 2012.
Maybe HuffPo, Kos, or some other far-left-of-the-far-left maniac actually had something on her....... like she’s a Muslim, or was born in Kenya.
But to me, it all comes back to this: Sarah Palin quit her office in mid-stream.

Bravo Sarah Palin. Perfect Politics and she wiped the table with all who want to destroy her (Rinos included). In her state of Alaska she is a lame duck now (which would make her a target duck ) Now she is free to do what she needs to do - to get herself ready for battle. I have it on good authority - that our heroes (the military) simply adore her. When she visited with them a couple weeks ago was the deciding factor for her to step up - and I am simply ecstatic. Go to Youtube and watch her with the troops. We will now see her unrestricted and ready to do things her way. I too today donated to sarahpac. I will continue to do so. This country for the first time needs a woman, a strong mother to heal the wounds, and restore it's Liberty and Honor.

I don't really know what to make of this but there's a site
that claims that Palin is joining OBAMA'S cabinet.
According to the article, Obama called her on June 28th and offered her the position.
Well this has gotta be the biggest case of 'Mis-information' evuh! Quick...somebody call Ripley's Believe It or Not, and the Guiness Book of World Records.

Kenneth (Or as Sarah Palin would call you, Ken)
Did you even hear what she said?
Her position as Governor was being compromised by all of the lawsuits and media blasts.
SHE COULDN'T DO HER JOB.
I love the media saying, "well what would she do if she was President under these circumstances?"
Alaska doesn't have an open checkbook to fight nutjob lawsuits.
And this woman actually CARES about how much her State has to spend on her behalf.
I'm guessing she can balance a checkbook.
Unlike the President in office.
Get a clue, "Kenneth".

She is the real deal, Palin 2012....Just have to hope she can bend/break the Rhinos so they will not undermine her with their lack of support like last time or blatantly harming her.
Posted by: Davin | Saturday, July 04, 2009 at 01:11 AM
kenny,
Your a true patriot and I luv ya, but I just gotta play devils advocate here. What if it was McCain that had won the White House instead of OB?...Palin then would've left her Govna's office in mid-stream to be VP, right?
So, why shouldn't Palin resign as Govna if she's still going to serve the USA in some other capacity which is what she hinted at in her speech, tonight?
Posted by: IndieJones | Saturday, July 04, 2009 at 01:42 AM
5am and I can't sleep...... I watched her live, I watched the speech at least two more times.... no thanks to Fox News.... what the hell happened to that channel ?
Tammy, I've got a clue... I also don't quit what I do, I don't quit what I believe. I fight when challenged.... to my last breath if need be.
IndieJones, I luv ya too, but sorry, I don't do "what if's". I don't deal in hints. I deal in reality. McCain didn't win. Governor Palin didn't need to resign her seat to become VP.
If she's leaving to do something specific, than she should have said it.
To everybody:
No matter what Sarah Palin does, the media as a whole will take her apart. The left will slander and libel her non-stop and have never been taken to task for it all. That's about the most obvious thing going and anyone can see that. Most of those folks could and should be in prisons far and wide.... and no, that's not a free speech issue.... lines of propriety and civility were crossed countless times.
The national media made her a divisive figure in American politics, especially within The GOP..... why ? It's the media's target of opportunity. She's also got a few problems in her family..... who doesn't ?
Her own State's media and political people were hotly divided on her before she hit the spotlight nationally.
She's also a gun owner and a hunter .... that has a ton to do with her treatment. Believe me on that.
The squishy, we-want-to-get-along-with-everybody-who-hates-us power in the GOP are scared of her, because she was able to do it all and stood up for her beliefs.... and they knew that's what they once were and their own constituents know it too.
Now she up and left..... even if she does announce for 2012, or whatever else she's going to do..... she still up and quit instead of fighting to the end for what she believes.
By the way, if anybody cares, I don't consider myself a Republican (and damn straight I'm not a Dem).... I'm an American.
That's who I want running for office..... not an 'R' or a 'D'....... but an 'A'. I don't think there's more than a handful out there yet.... but there will be. I see one or two now who I'd literally take a bullet for ...... Allen West is top of that list.
I guess we'll agree to disagree on things, which is a beautiful thing..... that's how this whole experiment in freedom got started. Let's "hope" the "change" coming doesn't get us all killed.
Cheers !
Kenny

She up and quit..that's the argument against her the braindead liberals will use. Consider this..OBama ran for President while he was drawing pay as a Senator just as McCain did..and all of the rest. What Sarah did will not change the minds of those who support her. Will not change the anger toward those who photoshop her son with vile images. Nope..that shit about up and quit won't fly. And I shall defend her with my last breath and as time goes on, she will gain more support especially as this country is spinning towards hell with a liberal/commie/muslim at the wheel.
GO SARAH YOU ARE AMERICA!

As am alternative to the desert heat and not being able to take a holiday getaway, reading all the amazingly powerful, enthusiastic and encouraging comments on Pam Geller's website is about the most appropriate and perfect way to celebrate our nation's 233 birthday and sacred day of Independence! Go, USA!!
And now, all the feelings and emotions that I've been reading on this site about Palin are reflected in my own support & admiration for the lady from Alaska! And to think we're getting all excited & worked up about a REAL American patriot! When just about this time 4 years ago, the Dems, the Libtards & the idiot MSM were doing their dance of love with a real charlatan, empty suit, clueless Marxist. Oh, the difference in quality & purity is beyond compare and belief!!
I, too, was really excited when I heard the announcement - and then heard the address on radio. She was so passionate and spot-on and, as EVERYONE had to acknowledge, without a teleprompter! Her instincts (political and every other kind) are non-pareil against those of so-called "professional" handlers who are afraid of their own shadow! And typical of the sore losers and frightened ninnies that they are, all the MSM & the Leftist blogs could come up with in describing her heartfelt and passionate announcement was "rambling!" Talk about clueless!! They wouldn't recognize reality if it his them with a 2-by-4 in the ass!
Here's what she's become to the nascent REAL Conservative movement that's been desperately seeking a leader: She's our own Joan of Arc - Jeanne d'Arc!! But, whereas that poor soul was consumed in the flames, OURS will not only NOT be so consumed, but she, herself, will be the source of light & heat!! {How's that for an over-the-top analogy...)
And now, with the 2010 elections almost upon us, she will absolutely blaze the trail for - and, God willing, help elect - a whole crew of Conservative Republicans next year. BUT - and here's the proviso that she needs to remember: No RINOs need apply!! They've always been the death knell of our party. Only Eisenhower rose above the WASP establishment, country-club GOPers to assume, and relatively successfully, the mantle of POTUS. All the others either never made it, or were voted out after one term.
And here's another suggestion that I think will resonate with many who post comments here: In addition to Allan West, Palin should seek out and support ALL CONSERVATIVE (we can't underscore that enough!) African-American GOP candidates for Congress and the Senate. Even if they lose in the general election, their profile - and that of all true Conservative AA candidates - will have been raised considerably, and, God willing, they'll no longer have to accept the marinalization that the MSM and others will still try to impose. Getting them in the mainstream of our party will be a tremendous boost to them, to us and to the USA!!

P.S. I meant to comment on that great photo that Pam is running at the top of this article - namely, a photo with the troops from Palin's recent visit to see the Alaska Guard troops in Kosovo (I think that picture's from her most recent visit?). Did you look at the faces closely? They're all Native faces - i.e., the faces of the Eskimos (or Inuit, as they are known in their own languages). I think that's just so awesome! Can you imagine them so far from home, serving in the Balkans! What a great photo!
And, if I hear anyone else dumping on Todd Palin for his earlier political beliefs, I think I'll clobber 'em! And remind them that out here in the West - and, in particular, our last great frontier of Alaska! - it's NOT uncommon to vote "none of the above" and register dissatisfaction with the status quo by supporting or joining groups that make lots of successionist noise, but, in the end, are really patriots and just want the rest of the country to stop screwing up their lives in their own particular states & communities. And, BTW, don't a bunch of leftist Vermonters keep thinking that they'd be better off with their imbilical cord to WashDC officially cut off?

I don't know what's scarier - the idea of a Palin presidency (NEVER HAPPEN) or the people here who think there is a real difference between Republicans and Democrats, nearly all of whom work for the corporations that OWN AMERICA and suck the life out of each and every one of us.
In a fascist state people fear the government. In a capitalist state people fear corporations. You decide which is the greater evil ... the corporations (Wall Street, Banks, Health Insurance, etc.) or politicians taking money from them.

Boy, the author of this nonsense really needs to seek help. Irrational anger issues.
None of this mess is Palins fault, she's the poor innocent victim. Nonsense. Enjoy your political irrelevancy, it looks like the republicans will be there a long long time.
Thinking Americans would never elect another intellectual nitwit like palin - we barely survived bush and palin surely isn't any smarter.
You folks are nuts!!

Coming late to the conversation, with two observations.
(1) WHY is she still thinking GOP? In may ways THEY are worse than the Dems. Isn't it time America had a real third party? Remember both the Dems and GOP were not around when this country was founded, in fact the Republcans started as a one issue party, and managed to do OK with the first person they ever ran for President (Lincoln).
David Foreman (founder of Earth First!, but stay with me) once remarked in an interview with Mother Earth News on why he left the organization was that organizations have an EFFECTIVE life of 7 years - after that, they have either accomplished their goal, or never will. he used the "March of Dimes" as an example that met their goal - stamping out Polio, but rather than go away, they re-invented themselves - birth defects. GOP - got rid of slavery - OK but what the hell happened after that? Would Lincoln recognize his party today?
Why not a 3rd party, based on common sense vs. a good ol' boy network? I'm thinking a bald eagle as the symbol - think of all the great political cartoons showing an eagle flying away with a donkey or elephant in their talons. Anyway, there's plenty of people in American sick to death of both parties - time for something different. Do we really think Palin will get a fare shake from either party?
(2) was sitting in the airport Monday the 6th and watched Fox carry a van chase on the beltway in Houston LIVE for over 30 minutes - WHY? HOW was that National News? THAT was the most important thing happening in the entire world? We cut short this woman's speach, but can afford to follow some strong armed robber who stole a van for over half an hour? And the MSM can't figure out why they are becoming more insignificant every day.
