‘Obama committed to
ejecting Jews from Judea-Samaria,’ says Abbas Palestinian leader Mahmoud
Abbas on Saturday told reporters in Cairo that he is convinced that US
President Barack Obama is firmly committed to finally ejecting the Jews from
Judea and Samaria.
Abbas spoke to the press after briefing
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on his visit to the White House late last week,
during which Obama apparently agreed with his guest that existing Jewish
communities in Judea and Samaria must not even be allowed to experience “natural
growth.”
“When the American administration talks about Israel's
duty to stop the settlements - including natural growth - it is a very important
step,” noted Abbas.
Following their meeting last Thursday, Obama said
that he also told Abbas to make a bit more of an effort to halt what he
described as isolated and sporadic anti-Jewish incitement in Palestinian
schools, mosques and media. Documentation by Israeli and international watchdog
groups shows that the incitement is far from isolated or
sporadic.
Meanwhile, Israeli officials cited by Ha’aretz decried the
Obama Administration’s stiff demands that no more houses be built for Jews
beyond the pre-1967 borders.
Wow ......... the leftist Jewicidals over at Haaretz even see it:
They noted that under former President
George W. Bush, Israel reached understandings that the natural growth of
existing towns would not subject to Israel’s commitments to halt settlement
activity (commitments many Israelis see as null and void anyway since the
Palestinians have failed to honor their reciprocal obligations).
But one
official said those understandings are now “worth nothing,” and that the
US is taking an unfair position by completely siding with Palestinian demands
that go far beyond the original peace agreements.
Other
officials attributed Obama’s hard line positions against Israel to his efforts
to reconcile with the Arab and Muslim worlds, which will be the focus of a much
anticipated speech he will give in Cairo this Thursday.

river," Science Minister and Habayit Hayehudi head Daniel Herschkowitz said
Sunday, referring to US President Barack Obama's demand to freeze all settlement
activity, even that ensuing from natural growth.
Speaking ahead of the
weekly cabinet meeting, mathematician Herschkowitz furthered his point with a
simple equation. "If there is a family that expands from one child to four or
five, what should we tell them - to ship the children off to Petah Tikva? This
is an unacceptable demand, even if it comes from the Americans, and Israel
should reject it decisively," he affirmed.
Interior Minister Eli Yishai
said, "The American demand to freeze construction means expulsion for young
people living in large locales. I hope the US administration understands that.
If not, I don't want to be an apocalyptic prophet saying we're facing struggle
and confrontation. The concessions they're demanding of us are a security
impediment we cannot withstand."
Information and Diaspora Minister Yuli
Edelstein chose a positive perspective on the dispute threatening an
Israeli-American rift.
"The recent days prove what luck we have that it
is [Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu's government conducting talks on West
Bank natural growth and construction in Jerusalem," he said. "Just imagine
someone else, he would have led us to an entanglement lasting generations."
"We aren't headed for a confrontation with the White House, but rather
for understandings, and Netanyahu's visit there proved it. President Obama is a
friend of Israel, and I'm sure we can resolve the disagreements," Edelstein
added.
Welfare and Social Services Minister Isaac Herzog of the Labor
party stressed the importance in preventing a head-on collision with Obama.
"The current American administration sees things differently than the
last two presidents did. Construction is being undertaken around Jerusalem
according to understandings with previous administrations. Israel wants very
much to reach understandings, and Defense Minister Ehud Barak's upcoming trip to
Washington proves it," Herzog said.
The exploitation and enslavement of the producers by the looters and moochers will not go unanswered. I find more and more, in talking with people trying to manage the over taxation and overwhelming government regulation in their lives, that they are minimizing their exposure. The producers will go on strike.
Every action Obama is taking will decrease revenues, not increase them. Free markets need to be free. This has been proven time and time again. This will continue to raise the unemployment rate (I expect to see at

2010) and the Republican Constitution party should be able to take
power from the Socialist Democrats in Congress in 2010.

Remember angry Grandma? The one who last year was saying she didn’t
appreciate the “rumors” being spread about her step-grandson, Barack Obama,
namely that he is secretly a Muslim? “Untruths are told that don’t have anything

perform the Muslim Hajj pilgrimage this year along with her son Syeed Obama.
A private Kenyan television channel, quoted extensively by the Kenyan and
Pakistani media, reported Sarah Obama and her son will also visit Dubai before
going to Saudi Arabia for performing Hajj. The pair lives in Kenya.
The News, a newspaper in Dubai, confirmed the report. It quoted United Arab
Emirates’ property tycoon Sulaiman Al Fahim as stating he will personally
sponsor Sarah Obama’s trip after meeting the elderly Obama in Kenya last week
and learning she had always wanted to perform the Hajj. … The Hajj is the
largest annual pilgrimage in the world. The fifth pillar of Islam requires every
able-bodied Muslim to travel to Mecca at least once in their life in a
demonstration of solidarity with fellow Muslims and in an act of individual
submission to Allah.
Obama’s grandmother, a Muslim known locally as “Mama Sarah,”
lives in Kogelo, a tiny village near the Ugandan border. She was in Washington,
D.C., in January for Obama’s swearing-in ceremony.
So we know she lied about who she is. And one day we’ll find out if she also
lied about who her grandson is. In any case, Christianity and Islam seem rather
interchangeable in the Obama family. Especially if, after being partly raised
Muslim, the “church” that one gravitates to is an anti-white, anti-Jewish,
anti-American one. Not much of a leap back from there.
Anyway, while she’s on that Hajj amid millions of Arabs, she’d better watch
her back so she doesn’t get swiped into slavery.
In an almost incomprehensible move and a complete and utter act of dangerous stupidity, the State department is hosting a gay pride party in Baghdad. In insulting Islam, they are putting American soldiers in harm's way.
Change has certainly come to Baghdad. And it appears that includes the U.S.
Embassy, where they are holding what the invitation says is the first-ever U.S.
Embassy Gay Pride Theme Party next Friday at Baghdaddy's, which is the embassy
employee association's pub.

Clearly, this will mar Obama's outreach and "personal commitment" to the Muslim world - strange, particularly for an

First President in US History to Have Voted to Filibuster a Supreme Court Nominee Now Hopes for Clean Process

Obama's expressed hope today in his weekly address "that we can avoid
the political posturing and ideological brinksmanship that has bogged
down this (Supreme Court nomination) process, and Congress, in the
past" runs against another historical first for the 44th president: his
unique role in history as the first US President to have ever voted to
filibuster a Supreme Court nominee.
So while there is little indication Republicans intend to filibuster
President Obama's nominee for the Supreme Court, Judge Sonia Sotomayor,
the GOP will likely invoke the President's unique history whenever he
calls their tactics into question.
In January 2006, then-Sen. Obama joined 24 colleagues in a futile
effort led by Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., to filibuster the Supreme Court
nomination of now-Justice Samuel Alito.
On January 29, 2006, Mr. Obama told George Stephanopulos on "This
Week" that he would "be supporting the filibuster because I think Judge
Alito, in fact, is somebody who is contrary to core American values,
not just liberal values, you know. When you look at his decisions in
particular during times of war, we need a court that is independent and
is going to provide some check on the executive branch, and he has not
shown himself willing to do that repeatedly."

It does not appear that a filibuster will be attempted against Sotomayor.
The ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Jeff
Sessions, R-Ala., was among 28 Republicans who voted against
Sotomayor's ascension to the Court of Appeals in 1998.
But he told CNN this week, "I don't sense a filibuster in the works."
"The nominee has serious problems," Sessions said. "But I would
think that we would all have a good hearing, take our time, and do it
right. And then the senators cast their vote up or down based on
whether or not they think this is the kind of judge that should be on
the court."
Good lcuk with that. The Republicans are still operating under the misguided delusion that the Dems play it straight.

STEVEN Rattner, the auto industry
adviser to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, is flagrantly
thumbing his nose at President Obama's call for Americans to
make sacrifices in the collapsing economy.
\Rattner is moving full-speed ahead with construction
of a lavish, $15 million summer home
in the Lambert's Cove area of West Tisbury on Martha's Vineyard -- a palatial
mansion he's had in the works since 2006. It's
caused a furor among wealthy Vineyard residents, who've called
the planned 15,500-square-foot project far too big
and gaudy, The Post's Mark DeCambre reports.
Nonetheless, the town's Land Use Planning Committee
greenlighted the scheme, which involves transporting an existing building to an
adjoining larger property on Obed Daggett Road. Adding to the controversy, the
mansion is close to a sacred Native American burial ground protected by a
permanent preservation restriction, according to the Martha's Vineyard Times.
Rattner has been tough on banks and hedge-fund
managers unwilling to take haircuts on stakes they own in failing car companies.
Yet Rattner, his wife, Maureen White, the former national
finance chair for the Democratic Party, and their four children enjoy plush
lifestyles because of the success of his Quadrangle Group hedge fund, which
manages Mayor Bloomberg's $16 billion fortune. His fund has
been under scrutiny in a pension scandal being probed by state Attorney

Steve Rattner, the money manager who is Obama's top adviser on bailing out
the auto industry, is uncomfortably close to a criminal investigation into the
New York state pension fund, newspapers reported today.
In October 2004 Rattner, the private equity investor and former New York
Times reporter who is leading (if not quite the "czar"
of) the Obama administration's task force to save the auto industry, met with
David Loglisci, the recently-indicted chief investment officer of
the New York General Pension Fund to solicit an investment in his private equity

Official: President said Palestinian state with holy city capital 'in American interest'

President Mahmoud Abbas during a meeting last week the U.S. foresees
the creation of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital,
according to a top PA official speaking to WND.
"The American administration was very friendly to the position of the PA," said Nimer Hamad, Abbas' senior political adviser.

categorical way that a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital

government spokesman denounced Obama during his visit as Odinga's "stooge." During the election Raila was behind horrible massacres. The victims of the violence
had mostly been members of President Kibaki's tribe, the Kikuyu. Those who went berserk were supporters of Mr. Odinga's Orange Democratic
Movement, which is dominated by the rival Luo tribe.
May 30, 2009 (NAIROBI) — The trip by Prime Minister Raila
Odinga to Iran, which has raised questions because his delegation included only
ODM stalwarts, overshadows the significance of a tour of Southern Sudan by the
Luo Council of Elders. While Mr Odinga was flying to Tehran, the elders led by
Mzee Riaga Ogalo were visiting the grave of former SPLM leader Dr John Garang de
Mabior where they shed many tears.

South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit was their host. The
two trips can be seen as part of a sustained effort by Mr Odinga to build
international clout and create new allies as he moves to solidify his position
ahead of the 2012 presidential election.
Public Accounts Committee chairman Bonny Khalwale has asked
Foreign Affairs minister Moses Wetang’ula to explain why Mr Odinga was
accompanied by only ODM figures to the United States and Iran. Cabinet ministers
James Orengo, Sally Kosgey, Charity Ngilu, Anyang’ Nyong’o and Mohammed Elmi
accompanied the Prime Minister.
In his campaign to woo critical allies, Mr Odinga has cast his
net wide. Recently he was in the United States where he addressed leaders of
commerce, Kenyans in the diaspora and a university graduation ceremony.
Addressed meetings
Since becoming Prime Minister Mr Odinga has visited and
addressed meetings in South Africa, Nigeria, China and Tanzania, among other
destinations, and met with world leaders like British Prime Minister Gordon
Brown and his predecessor Tony Blair.
Though the Luo elders packaged the motive of their trip as
purely cultural, it had significant political overtones. It can be advanced that
the elders were both cultural and political emissaries. The Juba trip came just
weeks after they annointed Mr Kiir, the larger Sudan Vice-President, a Luo elder
at a secluded beach resort on Lake Victoria in a ceremony hosted by Mr Odinga.
During the ceremony, Mzee Ogalo told Mr Kiir they considered
him one of their own – their son, their brother. “We are bestowing you honours
because you are one of our most respected sons. You are a Luo like us; it is
only that you remained in Sudan as we trekked south to Kenya,” Mr Ogalo said.
The veteran SPLA soldier was given a traditional three-legged
stool, a goatskin bag and a beaded skullcap once worn by the godfather of Luo
politics, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. Today, the PM, a close friend of Mr Kiir, is
the most decorated Luo politician.
The Sudanese leader accepted the honour in the warmth of his
people. “I am full of joy because I am standing amidst my people. The Luos and
Southern Sudanese are one people,” he said in acceptance of the honour. He
donated $100,000 (Sh8 million) to the Great Lakes University for construction of
a hall to be named after Dr Garang. The institution awarded Mr Kiir an honorary
doctorate.
On the face of it, the sojourn to Juba was geared to cement
ties between the Luo of Kenya and their brothers in South Sudan, but it also may
have been a move to exploit a cultural bond that aims to seduce and entertain an
invaluable comrade in Mr Odinga’s power matrix.

Hussein Obama, the father of US President Barack Obama, hailed
from Luo Nyanza. Mr Wamwere, who links the South Sudan connection with Mr
Odinga’s presidential ambitions, perceives it as an “ethnic alliance which may
be beneficial or counter-productive”.
“Mr Odinga is amassing troops and seducing elders and powerful
people to his side. Mr Kiir commands a lot of resources which may come in handy
for Mr Odinga should the need arise,” the former MP argued. And then there is
the Museveni factor. With his relationship with Ugandan President Yoweri
Museveni quite frosty, Mr Odinga is likely to find a strategic regional ally in
Mr Kiir.

There is a strong bond between the Luo and the people of South
Sudan. The Luo of Kenya trace their origin to Southern Sudan. More than eight
centuries ago, the Luo occupied the area that now lies in eastern Bahr el Ghazal
in present day southern Sudan.
They are part of the many Luo sub-groups comprising the
Padhola, Lang’o, Kumam, Acholi and Karamojong of Uganda, the Alur of Congo, and
the Anuak, Nuer, Dinka and Shilluk of the Sudan. Mr Kiir is a Dinka, the biggest
tribe in Southern Sudan.
According to veteran journalist Philip Ochieng’, the Sudanese
and northern Ugandan Luo “are more genuinely Luo” than Kenyan Luos “because they
are less removed from the original home of dispersal and, therefore, less
influenced by non-Nilotic elements”.
The Grapes of Wrath (published in 1939) was written by John Steinbeck and awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize for Literature. Set during the Great Depression, the novel focuses on a poor family of sharecroppers, the Joads, driven from their home by drought, economic hardship, and changes in the agriculture industry. But White House advisors said Friday that Obama would not shy away from addressing "tough issues" in the speech on Thursday at the University of Cairo which will be co-hosted by Al-Azhar University, an ancient center of Islam and learning.
"The speech will outline his personal commitment to engagement, based upon mutual interests and mutual respect," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said.

UPDATE: Airlift of 3,000 Secret Servicemen to Cairo to secure Obama speech to Muslims

US president Barack Obama has not yet decided whether his historic speech reaching out to the Muslim world will be delivered on June 4 from a lecture hall at Al Azhar University in Cairo or its main mosque, DEBKAfile's Middle East sources report. If the second, his address will take place in the presence of Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa, the Sunni Muslim world's greatest religious authority. In any event, Al Azhar is the most eminent school of Islamic learning in the world and the US president therefore expects its impact to far outweigh his first address to Muslims from Istanbul.
His arrival from a meeting with Saudi King Abdullah in Riyadh on June 3 is planned to add extra weight to Obama's dramatic outreach to Muslims, since the king officiates as Custodian of the Holy Places to Islam.
Radical Muslims will therefore have all the more reason for rejecting it.
Giant transports have been landing at Cairo airport, unloading a fleet of armored vehicles, White House helicopters, counter-terror weapons and the vanguard of the 3,000 Secret Service officers backed by CIA and FBI personnel who will secure the US president during his stay in Egypt. Cairo will soon be in turmoil as forces are deployed from a command center at the American Embassy to control sections of downtown Cairo, with guard posts on the Nile River's banks, the international airport, main railway terminals and approaches to the city.
Some 30,000 Egyptian security personnel including army units stationed in Cairo have been placed on special duty until the American president leaves. Their names and those of the welcoming party at Al Azhar University were submitted to the US presidential security center.
Is America going to take this laying down? This is a coup. Smooth, slick and Obamafied, but America is most certainly under attack from within. We need an insurrection. A
new White House policy on permissible lobbying on economic recovery and stimulus
projects has taken a decidedly anti-First Amendment turn. It's a classic
illustration of Big Government trying to control every aspect of a particular
activity and in the process running up against civil liberty.
Check out this passage from a post on the White House blog by Norm Eisen,
Special Counsel to the President on Ethics and Government Reform (emphasis
added):
"First, we will expand the restriction on oral communications to cover all
persons, not just federally registered lobbyists. For the first time, we will
reach contacts not only by registered lobbyists but also by unregistered ones,
as well as anyone else exerting influence on the process. We concluded this was
necessary under the unique circumstances of the stimulus program.
With the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) making an all-out international effort to restrict free speech
about Islam, including speech designed to alert non-Muslims to the motives
and goals of the global jihad movement, and Obama making
conciliatory gestures toward the OIC, it is not at all difficult to look
down the path and see the day coming when it will Sharia provisions restricting
speech about Islam will be in place in the United States of America, and it will
be illegal to speak about the Islamic supremacist agenda.
Most, of course, will dismiss such concerns the way they always dismiss them:
with a wave of the hand and an invocation of the First Amendment -- as if the
First Amendment were some kind of inviolate shield that cannot itself ever in
any way be impeached or impugned. Would that it were so. But the Obama
Administration is already showing how little it cares for free speech and open
dissent. And with an Obama-compliant Supreme Court judging cases that challenge
their actions and interpreting the First Amendment for us, what's to stop the
Administration from playing ball with the OIC and building wonderful new bridges
with the Islamic world in this way?

RABAT (AFP) — A group of alleged Islamists recently arrested in Morocco
planned to attack Jewish interests in the country, a court source said Thursday,
citing the charges against them.
The suspects, alleged to be members of a cell that was part of the radical
Islamist movement Salafia Jihadia, were also preparing attacks against Moroccan
security services, the source said.
Details of the alleged attack plans were not available.
The cell -- Jamaat Al Mourabitine Al Jodod, or New Fighters Group --
allegedly began operating in March 2008 in southern Morocco and sought to
recruit militants from Koranic schools with the intention of infiltrating
political parties.
Authorities announced their arrest on May 12 and they face charges including
forming a criminal gang with the aim of carrying out "terrorist" acts. They are
being held in jail.
"Police dismantled the cell as part of a regular operation in the battle

Poller sent me the picture of the French billboard advertising the political party "Liste Antisionistes". She has just arrived in Nashville, where the
conference she was scheduled to speak on Jihad in Europe was canceled, apparently
after Thomas A. Negri, managing director of Loew’s Vanderbilt Hotel (a
dhimmi and apologist for Islam) learned that the group would feature a
keynote address by controversial Dutch parliamentarian and filmmaker,
Geert Wilders.

The BBC has offered £30,000 and an apology to the Muslim Council of Britain after airing accusations that it encouraged the killing of British troops.

He claimed that the council thought it was a “good thing, even an Islamic thing” to kill troops.

There is more information trickling out on the Halimi cover up (which I wrote about for Israel National News and Front Page magazine). An anonymous observer of the trial of 27 savages, taking place behind closed doors because two of the barbarians are "juveniles", tells us the ringleader confessed:
Youssouf Fofana, the presumed leader of the "gang of barbarians", confessed on Friday to killing French Jew Ilan Halimi in 2006 after detaining and torturing him for three weeks, said a source familiar with the case.
The trial is being held behind closed doors at a juvenile court in Paris because two of the remaining 26 defendants were minors at the time of the murder.
According to the source, who was present at the hearing, Fofana said "Yes, I did it; you know very well that it was me" during the presentation of the findings of two forensic experts who had examined Halimi's body.
AFP further quoted the source as saying that Fofana admitted to pouring a flammable liquid on Halimi and then setting him alight.

French authorities found 23-year-old Halimi naked, handcuffed and covered with burn marks near railroad tracks in the Essonne region south of Paris on Feb. 13, 2006.
He died on the way to the hospital and was later buried in Israel.
After the murder, Fofana fled to Ivory Coast, where he made death threats by telephone to Halimi’s father and girlfriend. He was extradited to France on March 4, 2006 and was charged with premeditated murder, demanding ransom, and acts of torture and barbarism. He faces a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
The screams must have been loud because the torture was especially atrocious:

ears, they burned him with acid, and in the end poured flammable liquid on him
and set him on fire.

TV station everyday and come back and partake in the torture. The
girls who lured young men. They knew he had been kidnapped. They knew
Yosef (the leader of the Barbarians) was extremely violent. They knew
Ilan was still in his hands three weeks later. All they had to do was
make an anonymous phone call to the police. No one would have known. They did not do it. No neighbor thought to say to the police that something strange was going on in this building.
The police told the family not to say a word. The Jewish community
was not warned when prior attempts to kidnap Jewish men had failed. The
Jewish community was not warned before the successful attempt.
Even one member of the gang who dropped out of the gang because he was shocked by their violence did not call the police.
These neighborhoods are not ghettos. They are not sordid. Not squalid.
When Ilan was found, the head of the fire department who was called
to the scene, this man with decades of experience, almost fainted when
he saw him. The last thing Youssef Fofana (leader of the murdering
gang, the barbarians) did was to slit Ilan's throat twice and pour an
inflammable liquid on him and try to set it on fire. But this did not burn him to
death, because Ilan walked for perhaps one hour, trying still to find a
way to live.

During the actual voting, Black Panther party members threatened with deadly weapons, voters at the polls and blocked poll and campaign workers by "threat of force".
Charges brought against three members of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense under the Bush administration have been dropped by the Obama Justice Department, FOX News has learned.
The charges stemmed from an incident at a Philadelphia polling place on Election Day 2008 when three members of the party were accused of trying to threaten voters and block poll and campaign workers by the threat of force -- one even brandishing what prosecutors call a deadly weapon.
The three black panthers, Minister King Samir Shabazz, Malik Zulu Shabazz and Jerry Jackson were charged in a civil complaint in the final days of the Bush administration with violating the voter rights act by using coercion, threats and intimidation. Shabazz allegedly held a nightstick or baton that prosecutors said he pointed at people and menacingly tapped it. Prosecutors also say he "supports racially motivated violence against non-blacks and Jews."
The Obama administration won the case last month, but moved to dismiss the charges on May 15.
The complaint says the men hurled racial slurs at both blacks and whites.
A poll watcher who provided an affidavit to prosecutors in the case noted that Bartle Bull, who worked as a civil rights lawyer in the south in the 1960's and is a former campaign manager for Robert Kennedy, said it was the most blatant form of voter intimidation he had ever seen.
In his affidavit, obtained by FOX News, Bull wrote "I watched the two uniformed men confront voters and attempt to intimidate voters. They were positioned in a location that forced every voter to pass in close proximity to them. The weapon was openly displayed and brandished in plain sight of voters."
He also said they tried to "interfere with the work of other poll observers ... whom the uniformed men apparently believed did not share their preferences politically," noting that one of the panthers turned toward the white poll observers and said "you are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker."
A spokesman for the Department of Justice told FOX News, "The Justice Department was successful in obtaining an injunction that prohibits the defendant who brandished a weapon outside a Philadelphia polling place from doing so again. Claims were dismissed against the other defendants based on a careful assessment of the facts and the law. The department is committed to the vigorous prosecution of those who intimidate, threaten or coerce anyone exercising his or her sacred right to vote."

White House seems to be unshakably committed to the proposition that the
Palestinians are just passive reactors to Israeli aggression, and that peace
will come as soon as the Israelis decide to get on with it.
The Obama White House does not ever seem to consider the proposition that the
Palestinians might fight on until they achieve the total destruction of Israel,
and that the jihad doctrine of Islamic supremacism mandates that they pursue no
other course.

Here's the real problem for the Jewish State, in past when Israel has faced problems with a sitting President they have taken their appeal to Congress. But this congress is not likely to go to bat for Israel for two reasons, President Obama is very popular and they are not likely to fight him on this issue especially when you consider that research and anecdotal evidence show the Democratic Party voter is no longer pro-Israel.
So Israel is left with a White House that will continue to pressure her toward one-sided concessions and a Congress that doesn't have the political chops to stand up to the President.
The question is will Netanyahu stand up to Obama? That is still unknown. On one hand the composition of his coalition will demand that he does, but on the other hand one of the major reasons he was voted out of office in 1999 was his poor relationship with Bill Clinton. In fact, Bill Clinton sent James Carville to Israel to help Ehud Barak take the Prime Minister position away from Netanyahu.
Where all this will lead is unknown. What Is known is the era of "good feelings" between an Israel Prime Minister and a US President is ending. And all the worries that many of us had about Obama and the Jewish State, are about to become true.

The manager of a prominent Nashville hotel cancelled a contract with a
conservative foundation to hold a conference this weekend on radical Islam,
apparently after learning that the group would feature a keynote address by
controversial Dutch parliamentarian and filmmaker, Geert Wilders.
Muslim groups succeeded in preventing Wilders from screening “Fitna,” his
15-minute movie on radical Islam, in the House of Lords this February, on claims
it was insulting to Muslims, and dogged him during a recent U.S. tour as well.
Thomas A. Negri, managing director of Loew’s Vanderbilt Hotel and Office
complex in Nashville, told Newsmax on Wednesday that he had taken the
extraordinary step of cancelling the conference at the last minute “for the
health, safety and well-being of our guests and employees.”
Negri refused to say why he felt the conference would adversely affect the
“health, safety and well-being” of the hotel’s guests and employees, except to
refer to the website of the New English Review, the group organizing the
conference.
The website features articles that warn about radical Islam written by
activists, journalists and scholars, including former federal prosecutor Andrew
McCarthy, and former Muslim scholar, Ibn Warraq.
One article, written by a retired U.S. army intelligence officer, Jerome
Gordon, warns of the growing problems caused by the recent influence of several
thousand Somali Muslim refugees who have come to work for a nearby Tysons Food
plant to replace illegal Hispanic meat packers.
Negri appeared at a 2003 pro-immigration event on the same dias with a
well-known Somali warlord, Gordon told Newsmax.
In a written statement to the conference organizers, Negri said that the
hotel had “not received any information related to a specific security threat
concerning this event,” and declined to provide any justification for cancelling
it at the last minute.
One of the conference organizers told Newsmax on Wednesday that the group was
considering a lawsuit against Negri and the Loew’s hotel chain for “unlawful
breach of contract.”

my war experiences in Nazi Germany,” Payne said. “We had never talked about that
before.”
Hooray for Uncle Payne - a great American. What Obama is doing is contemptible.

Barack Obama's great uncle offered some blunt language as to why his nephew
is visiting the memorial at the former Buchenwald concentration camp next week
during his trip to Europe and the Middle East.
“This is a trip that he chose, not because of me I'm sure, but for political
reasons,” Charles Payne told the German magazine Spiegel. “Perhaps his visit
also has something to do with improving his standing with (German Chancellor)
Angela Merkel. She gave him a hard time during his campaign and also
afterwards.”
Obama will visit Saudi Arabia, make a long-awaited speech to the Muslim world
in Cairo, travel to Dresden and the Buchenwald Nazi concentration camp in
Germany, and attend D-Day commemorations in France. His uncle said he'd love to
tag along if he gets a lift on Air Force One.
Payne, 84, is no stranger to Americans: The Obama campaign used his WWII
experiences last year to burnish the candidate’s all-American upbringing. But
Obama made a gaffe when he said his great uncle liberated Auschwitz. In fact,
Payne was part of the force that liberated Ohrdruf, a subcamp of the Buchenwald
concentration camp, in April 1945.
Payne told Spiegel that he was shocked to see his war experience, especially
his "liberation" of a concentration camp, used in campaign commercials. He said
he had never spoken with his nephew about the matter, nor did Obama ever express
any interest in Payne's experience.
“I was quite surprised when the whole thing came up and Barack talked about
my war experiences in Nazi Germany,” Payne said. “We had never talked about that
before.”

Score one for the good guys! This aggressive Islamic supremacism must be challenged. I was unnerved when one week after Obama and co. nationalized the banks, the US Treasury was giving seminars in Islamic finance. Tip of the old hat to litigation warrior David Yerushalmi:
In an extremely well-written and soundly analyzed opinion,
Judge Lawrence P. Zatkoff of the US District Court for the Eastern District
Court of Michigan, has denied the U.S. government's motion to dismiss the
lawsuit filed by Kevin Murray. (The full opinion may be downloaded above from
this entry's unique url.) Mr. Murray, who is represented by legal counsel
David Yerushalmi and the Thomas More Law Center (Richard Thompson and Robert
Muise), filed a federal complaint against the Treasury Secretary, representing
the U.S. Treasury, and the Federal Reserve Board alleging that AIG's promotion
of Shariah in its Shariah-compliant insurance products violates the
Establishment Clause because the federal government owns and controls 80% of AIG
and AIG's actions have become the government's.
The government filed its motion to dismiss making two
arguments. One, Mr. Murray, as a former combat Marine, practicing Catholic, and
tax payer, did not have standing to even bring this lawsuit. Two, even if he did
have standing, the government acted in buying AIG without any intent to promote
or become involved in religious questions.
The Court spent much of its opinion reciting the law on the
narrow exception to the no-tax-payer-standing rule. That exception is triggered
in a claim of a violation of the Establishment Clause and when there is a
specific legislative grant for spending that implicates the First Amendment. The
Court carefully reviewed all of the relevant case law and found the argument
made by Messrs. Yerushalmi and Muise in their brief persuasive.
On the second issue, the Court put together all of the facts as
presented by the Plaintiff's brief and concluded:
In
this case, the fact that AIG is largely a secular entity is not dispositive:
“The question in an as-applied challenge is not whether the entity is of a
religious character, but how it spends its grant.” Kendrick, 487 U.S. at
624–25 (Kennedy J., concurring). The circumstances of this case are historic,
and the pressure upon the government to navigate this financial crisis is
unfathomable. Times of crisis, however, do not justify departure from the
Constitution. In this case, the United States government has a majority interest
in AIG. AIG utilizes consolidated financing whereby all funds flow through a
single port to support all of its activities, including Sharia-compliant
financing. Pursuant to the EESA, the government has injected AIG with tens of
billions of dollars, without restricting or tracking how this considerable sum
of money is spent. At least two of AIG’s subsidiary companies practice
Sharia-compliant financing, one of which was unveiled after the influx of
government cash. After using the $40 billion from the government to pay down the
$85 billion credit facility, the credit facility retained $60 billion in
available credit, suggesting that AIG did not use all $40 billion consistent
with its press release. Finally, after the government acquired a majority
interest in AIG and contributed substantial funds to AIG for operational
purposes, the government co-sponsored a forum entitled “Islamic Finance 101.”
These facts, taken together, raise a question of whether the government’s
involvement with AIG has created the effect of promoting religion and
sufficiently raise Plaintiff’s claim beyond the speculative level, warranting
dismissal inappropriate at this stage in the proceedings.
We reached out to Messrs. Yerushalmi and Muise in a conference
call. They both were quite obviously pleased by the well-reasoned opinion. They
also said, almost in perfect unison: "There is not a fact in the complaint we
cannot prove." Mr. Yerushalmi added, "This case is going to send a loud and
reverberating alarm in Washington and in the financial world which is now
running full speed and blindly to embrace Shariah-compliant finance."
When the case was first filed, arm-chair First Amendment
lawyers (meaning law professors who opine while gathering wood splinters writing
arcane law review articles and shotgun blog entries) almost unanimously concluded this case
had zero chance to survive a motion to dismiss. Turns out they were wrong. Way
wrong.

What is happening to the story concerning the

Evidence appears to be mounting that the Obama administration has
systematically targeted for closing Chrysler dealers who contributed to
Repubicans. What started earlier this week as mainly a rumbling on the Right
side of the Blogosphere has gathered some steam today with revelations that
among the dealers being shut down are a GOP congressman and closing
of competitors to a dealership chain partly owned by former Clinton White House
chief of staff Mack McLarty.
The basic issue raised here is this: How do we account for the fact millions
of dollars were contributed to GOP candidates by Chrysler who are being closed
by the government, but only
one has been found so far that is being closed that contributed to the Obama
campaign in 2008?
Florida Rep. Vern Buchanan learned from a House colleague that his Venice,
Florida, dealership is on the
hit list. Buchanan also has a Nissan franchise paired with the Chrysler
facility in Venice.
"It's an outrage. It's not about me. I'm going to be fine," said Buchanan,
the dealership's majority owner. "You're talking over 100,000 jobs. We're
supposed to be in the business of creating jobs, not killing jobs," Buchanan
told News
10, a local Florida television station.
Buchanan, who succeeded former Rep. Katharine Harris in 2006, reportedly
learned of his dealership's termination from Rep.Candace Miller, R-MI. Buchanan
owns a total of 23 dealerships in Florida and North Carolina.
Also fueling the controversy is the fact the RLJ-McCarty-Landers
chain of Arkansas and Missouri dealerships aren't being closed, but many of
their local competitors are being eliminated. Go here

aide. The "J" is Robert Johnson, founder of the Black Entertainment Television,
a heavy Democratic contributor.
A lawyer representing a group of Chrysler dealers who are on the hit list
deposed senior Chrysler executives and later told Reuters
that he believes the closings have been forced on the company by the White
House.
When I have a rare, stolen moment (say on a plane, for example, with no internet access :), I read. And I am always drawn back to Ayn Rand. I read Rand to refresh, renourish my soul. She fortifies me, my epistemology. I have been reading "The Voice of Reason" while vaca-ing with the Atlas kinderlach. One of her essays resonated so strongly during this statist seizure of America under the Communist Obamao - I thought I would share it with you.
The fundamental
principle of capitalism is the separation of State and
Economics - that is: the liberation of men’s economic activities,
of production and trade, from any form of intervention, coercion,
compulsion, regulation, or control by the government. This is
the essence of capitalism, which is implicit in its theory and in the
operation of a free market - but this is not the way most of its
advocates saw it, and it is not the way it was translated into
practice. The term “laissez-faire capitalism,” is capitalism,”
which one has to use today in order to be understood, is actually a
redundancy: only an economy of total “laissez-faire” is
capitalism: anything else is a “mixed economy,” that is, a
mixture, in varying degrees, of freedom and controls, of voluntary
choice and government compulsion, of individualism and collectivism.
A full, perfect system of capitalism
has never yet existed in history. Various degrees of government
intervention and control remained in all the mixed, semi-free
economies of the nineteenth century, undercutting, hampering,
distorting, and ultimately destroying the operations of a free
market. But during the nineteenth century, mankind came close to
economic freedom, for the first and only time in history. Observe the
results, ernment control was the degree of its progress. American was
the freest and achieved the most,
When two opposite principles are
operating in any issue, the scientific approach to their evaluation
is to study their respective performances, trace their consequences
in full, precise detail, and then pronounce judgment on their
respective merits. In the case of a mixed economy, the first duty of
any thinker or scholar is to study the historical record and to
discover which developments were caused by the free enterprise of
private individuals, by free production and trade in a free
market-and which developments were caused by government intervention
into the economy. It might shock you to hear that no such study has
ever been made. To my knowledge, no book dealing with this issue is
available. If one wants to study this question, one has to gather
information from random passages and references in books on other
subjects, or from the unstated implications of known but unanalyzed
facts.
Those who undertake such a study will
discover that all the economic evils popularly ascribed to capitalism
were caused, necessitated, and made possible not by private
enterprise, not by free trade on a free market, but by government
intervention into the economy, by government controls, favors,
subsidies, franchises, and special privileges.
The villains were not the private
businessmen who made fortunes by productive ability and free
trade, but the bureaucrats and their friends, the men who made
fortunes by political pull and government favor. Yet it is the
private businessmen, the victims, who took the blame, while the
bureaucrats and their intellectual spokesmen used their own guilt as
an argument for the extension of their power. Those of you who have
read Atlas Shrugged will recognize the difference between a
businessman such as Hank Rearden, the representative of capitalism,
and a businessman such as Orren Boyle, the typical product of a mixed
economy. If you want an historical example, consider the career of
James Jerome Hill, who built the Great Northern Railroad without a
penny of federal help, who was responsible, practically
single-handedly, for the development of the entire American
Northwest, and who was persecuted by the government all his life,
under the Sherman Act, for allegedly being a monopolist. Consider it,
then compare it to the career of the famous California businessmen
known as “The Big Four,” who built the Central Pacific Railroad
on federal subsidies, causing disastrous consequences and
dislocations in the country’s economy, and who held a thirty-year
monopoly on railroad transportation in California, by means of
special privileges granted by the state legislature which made it
legally impossible for any competing railroad to exist in the state.
The difference between these two types
of business career has never been identified in the generally
accepted view of capitalism. By imperceptible degrees - first,
through the default of capitalism’s alleged defenders, then through
the deliberate misrepresentations and falsifications of its
enemies-the gradual rewriting of our economic history has brought us
to the stage where people believe that all the economic evils of the
last two centuries were caused by the free-enterprise element, the
so-called “private sector,” of our mixed economy, while the
economic progress of these two centuries was the result of
government’s actions and interventions. People are now told that
America’s spectacular industrial achievements, unmatched in any
period of history of in any part of the globe, were due not to the
productive genius of free men, but to the special privileges handed
to them by a paternalistic government. The fact that much more
autocratic governments, with much wider privilege-dispensing powers
and policies, did not achieve the same results anywhere else on earth
is blanked out by the proponents of this theory.
The only counterpart of the theory’s
grotesque inversion and monstrous injustice is the mystics’
doctrine that man must give credit to God for all his virtues, but
must place the blame for all his sins upon himself. Incidentally, the
philosophical motive and purpose in both these instances is the same.
If you want a contemporary
demonstration of the respective merits and performances of a free
economy and of a controlled economy – a demonstration that comes as
close to an historical laboratory experiment as one could hope to see
– take a look at the condition of West Germany and of East
Germany.
No politico-economic system in history
had proved its value so eloquently or had benefited mankind so
greatly as capitalism – and none has ever been attacked so savagely
and blindly. Why did the majority of the intellectuals turn against
capitalism from the start? Why did their victims, the businessmen,
bear their attacks in silence? The cause of it is that primordial
evil which, to this day, men are afraid to challenge: the
morality of altruism.
Altruism has been men’s ruling moral
code through most of mankind’s history. It has had many forms and
variations but its essence has always remained the same: altruism
holds that man has no right to exist for his own sake, that service
to others is the only justification of his existence, and that
self-sacrifice is his highest moral duty, virtue, and value.
The philosophical conflict which,
since the Renaissance, has been tearing Western civilization and
which has reached its ultimate climax in our age is the conflict
between capitalism and altruist morality. Capitalism and altruism are
philosophical opposites; they cannot coexist in the same man or in
the same society.
The formal code which is implicit in
capitalism had never been formulated explicitly. The basic premise of
that code is that man – every man – is an end in himself, not the
means to the ends of others, that man must exist for his own sake,
neither sacrificing himself to others nor sacrificing others to
himself, and that men must deal with one another as traders, by
voluntary choice to mutual benefit. This, in essence, is the moral
premise on which the United States of America was based: the
principle of man’s right to his own life, to his own liberty, to
the pursuit of his own happiness.

The trial of Franco-Turkish writer Nedim Gürsel (pictured) on
charges of inciting racial and religious hatred has been adjourned until June.
Gürsel has been accused of insulting Islam in "The Daughters of Allah", a novel
about the prophet.
Nedim Gürsel left his home in Paris to come to Turkey in order to attend his
trial, which is currently taking place in Istanbul.
The Franco-Turkish
writer is being tried in the Turkish justice system on charges of inciting
racial and religious hatred in his latest book, "The Daughters of Allah", a
novel about the life of the Prophet Mohammad.
For this, he faces at
least six months to a year in prison.
"I'm stressed and worried because
it's not a pleasant thing to be facing a tribunal, especially for having written
a novel," said Gürsel. "We tend to forget this in Turkey, but it's just a
novel."
The writer is facing the same tribunal that acquitted another
famous Turkish novelist, Orhan Pamuk, in 2006 for the charge of insulting
Turkishness.
After less than an hour, the hearing was adjourned until
June. Gürsel said he was disappointed, having hoped for an acquittal.
"The book does not contain a single sentence that insults Islam," he
said. "They have been taken out of context and manipulated [it]."
It seems to me this is a watershed moment. Every Republican must vote against this incompetent radical. No more pandering to the soft mushy middle. The Republicans better man up. The folks are fed up. There's more on the nomination of the pro-gun control judicial activist Judge Sonia Sotomayor.
Sotomayor is a graduate from Princeton University, where her legal theses included Race in the American Classroom, and Undying Injustice: American "Exceptionalism" and Permanent Bigotry, and Deadly Obsession: American Gun Culture. In this text, the student Sotomayor explained that the Second Amendment to the Constitution did not actually afford individual citizens the right to bear arms, but only duly conferred organizations, like the military. Instead of making guns illegal, she argues that they have been illegal for individuals to own since the passing of the Bill of Rights. (More here)

think that this was some kind of popularity contest, instead of a
weighty decision about someone whose impact on the fundamental law of

Much is being made of the fact that Sonia Sotomayor had to struggle to rise in the world. But stop and think.
If
you were going to have open-heart surgery, would you want to be
operated on by a surgeon who was chosen because he had to struggle to
get where he is, or by the best surgeon you could find — even if he was
born with a silver spoon in his mouth and had every advantage that
money and social position could offer?
If it were you who was going to be lying on that operating table with
his heart cut open, you wouldn’t give a tinker’s damn about somebody’s
struggle or somebody else’s privileges.
The Supreme Court of the
United States is in effect operating on the heart of our nation — the
Constitution and the statutes and government policies that all of us
must live under.
Barack Obama’s repeated claim that a Supreme
Court justice should have “empathy” with various groups has raised red
flags that we ignore at our peril — and at the peril of our children
and grandchildren.
President Obama's radical new nominee to replace Associate Justice David
Souter on the Supreme Court, Sonia Sotomayor, used to serve on the board of LatinoJustice
PRLDEF (White House backgrounder), one of the racial grievance groups that helped
to sink the judicial nomination of Honduran-born Miguel Estrada in 2003.
Along with groups such as the Mexican-American Legal Defense and Education
Fund (MALDEF), LatinoJustice fought a war of attrition against President George
W. Bush's 2001 nomination of conservative Miguel Estrada, a Honduran-born immigrant, to the U.S. Court
of Appeals for the District of Columbia. Democrats in the Senate filibustered
the nomination and a weary Estrada withdrew from consideration in 2003.
Today LatinoJustice PRLDEF, a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit, hailed the
nomination of Sotomayor on the basis of her ethno-cultural heritage. "As the
second largest and fastest growing population in America, with a large pool of
qualified individuals to choose from, it was wholly appropriate for the
president to nominate a Hispanic," the group said in a written statement. (PDF)

DALLAS - A federal judge imposed what could amount to life sentences on
three former leaders of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development
(HLF) on Wednesday for illegally routing more than $12 million to Hamas.
"The purpose of creating the Holy Land Foundation was as a fundraising arm
for Hamas," said U.S. District Judge Jorge Solis. He sentenced former HLF
Chief Executive Officer Shukri Abu Baker and co-founder Ghassan Elashi to 65
years in prison. Longtime HLF chairman Mohamed El-Mezain, who was convicted only
on one count of conspiring to provide material support to terrorists, received
the maximum 15-year sentence. All three men are at least 50 years old. Two
additional defendants, Mufid Abdelqader and Abdelrahman Odeh, will be sentenced
Wednesday afternoon. While appeals are being prepared, the sentencing
hearings end the largest terror financing case in the United States, one which
closed the largest Muslim-American charity in 2001. Its significance, however,
resonates far beyond the Dallas courtroom and the five men convicted by a jury
last November. The evidence showed that HLF was part of a broad Muslim
Brotherhood conspiracy in the United States called the Palestine Committee,
which was to serve Hamas with "media, money and men." Those exhibits show the
depth of Muslim Brotherhood activity here, which at its height included a think
tank in Virginia, a propaganda arm in Texas and Chicago, and a political
operation that continues to exert influence today. It also led to the
discovery of a Brotherhood memorandum from 1991 that describes the group's goal
in America. It called for a "civilization-jihadist process" and a "grand jihad"
that aimed at "eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within …
so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other
religions." The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is a Palestine
Committee legacy. Last year, the FBI decided to cut off communication with CAIR
due to concerns about the evidence showing the organization's Hamas roots.
"Nevertheless, until we can resolve whether there continues to be a
connection between CAIR or its executives and HAMAS, the FBI does not view CAIR
as an appropriate liaison partner," wrote Richard C. Powers, an assistant
director in the FBI's office of Congressional Affairs, last month.

At the end of December 2008, the word GUILTY was read a total of 108 times in a Dallas court room jury convicted the Holy Land foundation and each of the five defendants of raising money to fund Hamas terrorism. The defendants were guilty of three dozen counts related to the illegal funneling of at least $12 million to the Palestinian terrorist group.
Today the Holy Land terror trial defendants were sentenced. But if you look at the Associated Press report they were boy scouts with an attitude problem. The headline which has been picked up by newspapers all across the country reads Muslim charity member gets 65 years in prison, and in the body of the piece they are called militants instead of convicted terrorists":
DALLAS (AP) — A founding member of what was once the nation's largest Muslim charity was sentenced to 65 years in prison Wednesday for funneling millions of dollars to the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
Shukri Abu Baker, 50, of Garland, Texas, was the first of five members of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development to be sentenced.
Ghassan Elashi, 55, of Richardson, also got 65 years. Another defendant, Mohammad El-Mezain, 55, was sentenced to 180 months for one count of conspiracy to support a terrorist organization.
I have received a lot of flak recently for exposing Rabbi Avi Weiss's act of submission to Islam in my piece: Riverdale Rabbi Slits Our Throats. In it, the Daily News reported that the Rabbi, to the shock of jihad knowledgeable Jews (and infidels), said: Don't blame Islam for terror plot to bomb synagogues in the Mumbai inspired planned bombing attacks on NYC synagogues.
I have given this a lot of thought. The thing is, I am not incapable of saying I was wrong, but kapo works for me, still (kapos: trustees that carried out the will of the Nazi camp. Fast forward - the will of the jihadis). Upon closer inspection and reflection, I take nothing back.
I am thinking about "the Jewish way" and I am not so schooled in the Talmud and such, but in my heart I know the fundamental, the elemental, the essence of what G-d expects, dictates, is to fight for good over evil. I know this -- and what the Rabbi did is unconscionable.
The "Jewish way" does not cheapen Jewish life by paving the way for Jewish genocide. The "Jewish way" does not turn the other cheek. The "Jewish way" does not give a free pass to our enemies.
Further still, take me out for my inflammatory remarks -- but put my crime next to the Rabbi's. I used too blinding a word, too true, too hard, but what did the Rabbi do? All the chesed (good works) in the world is meaningless if you deliver the Jews into the hands of our mortal enemies. So stop for a moment and compare my crime to the Rabbi's, and then compare the visceral reaction to my post and the velvet glove response to the Rabbi's dangerous action ("he was misunderstood" - meanwhile, no further explanation has been forthcoming.) Why has Rabbi Weiss remained silent? Why has he not come forward and explained his jewicidal remarks? Especially when a number of righteous Jews have reached out to him privately?
Don't shoot the messenger (namely, moi).
Good hearted folks have asked me to give the Rabbi the benefit of the doubt.The benefit of what doubt? He had no right. If he wasn't brave enough to tell the truth, he should have not spoken. If he was not informed enough to be responsible, he should not have spoken. If he has not read the quran, he should not have addressed motive.
Instead he squandered an extraordinary opportunity to educate people when the media was paying attention. How devastating. Islamic anti-semitism is behind it all.
This was not a mistake. He made a conscious choice to dismiss, excuse, the violent
ideology behind the greatest threat to Jews worldwide since the Nazis.
In fact, Islam is worse, something that will become increasingly clear.
It pains me -- all of this. But I will not stand by when the leaders of
the Jewish people sell us out to multicultural, PC expediency. What he
what did was crippling. Fetishing dead Jews is nonsense if one is not
brave enough to stand up against the forces of the next holocaust,
particularly when these attacks against the Jews are happening in real
time.
Were the ovens divorced from Nazism? Is the Hamas charter opaque in any way? "Israel will exist and will continue to exist
until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it." (The
Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed
memory).
The concern for the harm to this one man the Rabbi, is dear.
My concern is the harm done to the Jewish people.
My concern is the danger his dhimmitude puts us in.
The submission to Islam must stop.
If it is chesed that this man does, baruch hashem. May he continue with
strength and long years. But he is dead wrong on jihad. It is the most
lethal threat facing Jews all over the world, obscured and advanced by
the daily deceptions made possible by leftists, Islamists, corrupt
media and ..... Rabbis like Weiss.

The world's leading scholar on Islam and Islamic anti-semitism, Dr. Andrew Bostom, has penned an oped piece over at The NY Daily News about this very thing.
In "Stop ignoring Islam's antisemitic doctrine: Bronx bomb plot reminds us of
a core religious problem" in the New York Daily News, May 27, Andrew Bostom tells some truths
about the Bronx synagogue bomb plot that have been largely ignored in the
mainstream media.
"These were people who were eager to bring death to the Jews and the
Jewish community." Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Snyder provided this apt
characterization of the four converts to Islam whose plans to bomb a Bronx
synagogue and a Jewish community center were thwarted.
Richard Williams, uncle of the arrested plotter Onta "Hamza" Williams,
lamented that his nephew, a Baptist who converted to Islam, "…wasn't raised this
way. All this happened when he became a Muslim in prison." Indeed, Warith Deen
Umar, a Muslim chaplain who worked for 25 years in the New York State prisons
and was considered a highly influential cleric, reportedly boasted that this
vast incarceration system was, "...the perfect recruitment and training ground
for radicalism and the Islamic religion." During his chaplaincy, Umar also
repeatedly gave sermons fomenting Jew hatred, witnessed by prison staff.
But beyond all this, the obvious question persists - although dutifully
avoided by our learned religious, media and political elites in this sorry age
of Islamic correctness: What Islamic teachings might these American Muslim
converts have learned, whether in prison, or elsewhere, which caused them to
target their American Jewish neighbors, specifically, for mass killing? Simply
put, it is impossible to comprehend this ugly phenomenon without understanding
the core, mainstream Islamic theology - still unreformed and unrepentant - which
has inspired hatred of Jews since the advent of Islam?
For over a thousand years, Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt, has served as
the academic shrine - much as Mecca is the religious shrine - of the global
Muslim community. Al Azhar University and its mosque represent the pinnacle of
Islamic religious education.
A front page New York Times story published Saturday Jan. 10, 2009, included
extracts from the Friday sermon (the day before) at Al Azhar mosque by
Egyptian-government appointed cleric Sheik Eid Abdel Hamid Youssef. Referencing
well-established antisemitic motifs from the Koran (citations provided, below),
Sheikh Youssef intoned:
"Muslim brothers, God has inflicted the Muslim nation with a people whom God
has become angry at [Koran 1:7] and whom he cursed [Koran 5:78] so he made
monkeys and pigs [Koran 5:60] out of them. They killed prophets and messengers
[Koran 2:61/3:112] and sowed corruption on Earth. [Koran 5:33/5:64] They are the
most evil on Earth. [Koran 5:62 /63]"
In authoritative classical and modern Koranic interpretations, the Koran's
central antisemitic theme - its eternal curse for "prophet killing" and
violating Allah's commands - is coupled to Koranic verses 5:60 and 5:78, which
describe the Jews' transformation into apes and swine (5:60), or simply apes
(i.e. verses 2:65 and 7:166), having been "...cursed by the tongue of David, and
Jesus, Mary's son" (5:78). The Muslim prophet Muhammad himself repeats this
Koranic curse in a canonical hadith (sacred collections of Muhammad's words and
deeds)....

In this case, they went after talk radio host Rusty Humphries, but actually meant to issue the death threat against Rusty Shackleford of The Jawa Report. But at least they got the first name right, so that's pretty good for these learned and righteous pious Muslims.

JERUSALEM – A top U.S. radio talk show host has become the subject of an
Islamist Internet death threat, WND has learned.
Rusty Humphries, whose show is broadcast on over 250 stations through Talk
Radio Network, was the target of the tirade, posted on a blog powered by Google
entitled, "The Jew Report." Humphries is an outspoken critic of Islamic
terrorism and a strong supporter of the U.S.-led war on terror.
Alongside a dated picture of Humphries posing with commentator and star
blogger Michelle Malkin, the threat begins: "Yes this Fat descusting (sic) pig
you are looking at is the boss of the website Jawareport.com but their are many
fat kafirs like him you might ask why are we talking about him here's why."
The blog claimed Muslims in Florida are being "harassed" because of
Humphries, while his "work," seemingly as Shackleford, led to the raiding of
mosques and police interrogations of Muslims.
I wince when I imagine Truman's reaction to the current US groveling approach to North Korea. He sent men into battle to fight the nefarious scourge of communist expansionism in Korea (the Korean war). Imagine his horror if he witnessed the "carrots" we give to the brutal regime today. Could you just see Harry's face if he saw this 2006 news account on IPOD diplomacy?
The Bush administration wants North Korea's attention, so like
a scolding parent it's trying to make it tougher for that country's
eccentric leader to buy iPods, plasma televisions and Segway electric
scooters.
But the list of proposed luxury sanctions, obtained by The Associated
Press, aims to make Kim's swanky life harder: No more cognac, Rolex
watches, cigarettes, artwork, expensive cars, Harley Davidson
motorcycles or even personal watercraft, such as

Since they were conceived in spring 2003, the
Six-Party Talks have stumbled around inconclusively. And for the last
13 months, Pyongyang has ignored, stalled, renegotiated and violated
the Feb. 13, 2007 agreement.
Throughout all this "negotiation," which has mostly
consisted of our government negotiating with itself,North Korea has
benefited enormously. It's been spared the truly punishing sanctions
that concerted international effort might have produced. In large part
because of the appeasement policies of the two previous South Korean
governments, Pyongyang has not felt the full impact of the
Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) on its outward proliferation
efforts. The U.S. has muzzled its criticism of North Korea's atrocious
oppression of its own citizens. And, perhaps most humiliatingly of all,
the U.S., in a vain effort at chasing the mirage, gave up its most
effective pressure point -- the financial squeeze -- allowing Pyongyang
renewed access to international markets through institutions like Banco
Delta Asia.
In fact, the protracted Six-Party Talks have provided
Kim Jong-il with the most precious resource of all: the time to
enhance, conceal and even disperse his nuclear weapons programs. Time
is nearly always on the side of the would-be proliferator, and so it
has proven here. In exchange for five years of grace to North Korea,
the U.S. has received precious little in return.
Pyongyang is now stonewalling yet again on its promise
to disclose fully the details of its nuclear programs, including its
uranium enrichment efforts and its outward proliferation. The
successful Israeli military strike against a Syrian-North Korean
facility on the Euphrates River last September highlighted the gravity
of the regime's unwillingness to do anything serious that might
restrict its nuclear option.
Take notes. So that you can relay to your grandchildren how it happened, how we lost America. How America lost her way and gave it all away.
What are we celebrating here? Mecca? The subjugation of women? The persecution of non-Muslims? Islamic supremacism? Islamic imperialism? Islamic jew hatred? The Muslims dancing in the streets on 911? Terrible, all of it.

PROSPECT, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut school district is
considering a proposal to close schools on two Muslim holidays. The
Region 16 Board of Education is expected to take up the Student Council’s
proposal this week. The board represents the towns of Prospect and Beacon
Falls, Conn. The resolution asks the board not to hold classes on the day
that marks the end of the fasting period of Ramadan and on the day that
concludes the annual observance of the pilgrimage to
Mecca.
Obama earmarked billions to ACORN. Is 2010 even viable? What percent do rational, reasoned Americans have to win? We always knew that a 5 to 6% ghost vote (dead, illegal, fictitious "voters) were in the mix -- but is this even surmountable?
The 2008 election has passed, and some people are going to tell me to just
drop it...Obama won, but I answer did he win fairly? There are new allegations
coming out of Nevada, that might suggest that over half of the votes in Las
Vegas could be fraudulent. This might have turned the state to Obama, and John
McCain should have won the state.
The Secretary of State of Nevada, a
Democrat, believes the votes might have been a fraud, and he is prosecuting.

allegation, and not everyone in the media is following this story. The only ones
really are Fox News, and bloggers like this website.
Even if this
allegation is true, and it turned out John McCain would have won the state, it
still wouldn't tip the election away from Obama, but the question is how
widespread is this case? Could there be other states that were affected by
ACORN, and could possibly have influenced the outcome of the election?

Islamic terrorist, who in an act of war hoped to destroy western
civilization in violent attacks against Canada as part of the worldwide

The
first person convicted in a domestic terrorism plot bent on wreaking havoc on
Canadian targets was handed a 2 1/2-year sentence today, and with time already
served factored in, he walked free.
The youth belonging to the so-called
Toronto 18 homegrown terror cell was sentenced as an adult, but a temporary
publication ban granted prevents him from being named for 30 days. He was
found guilty in September of helping and taking part in a terrorist organization
- the first verdict under Canada's new anti-terrorism laws.
In handing
down the sentence today, Ontario Superior Court Justice John Sproat underscored
the seriousness of the crime, but noted that the youth had shown an intention to
turn his life around.
"A North Korean army spokesman reiterated that the country was no longer bound by the armistice signed at the end of the 1950-53 Korean War because Washington had ignored its responsibility as a signatory by drawing Seoul into the anti-proliferation effort." (More here) (hat tip Amaros)

North Korea defied the world last night by launching a third missile,
following two similar tests earlier in the day.
The rockets were fired the day after the communist state exploded a nuclear
device as powerful as the Hiroshima bomb.
The actions drew strong criticism from around the world and calls for tough
new sanctions against the regime.

But experts questioned whether a new UN resolution would have any effect on
Korea's nuclear ambitions.

Lee Myung-bak of Washington's commitment to defend his country on the long-
divided peninsula.
Emergency sessions of the UN Security Council drew up new sanctions aimed at
persuading North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il to rejoin talks on ending his nuclear

But existing sanctions are regularly flouted and the country is so poor it
relies on aid, mainly from China, to feed its 23million people.

as well as its ballistic missile programme, constitute a threat to international
peace and security.'
In a White House address the President pledged to work with allies around the
world to 'stand up to' North Korea. Tensions had already been running high over
Pyongyang's nuclear ambitions.
It was censured by the UN last month for launching a rocket - widely seen as
a test for a missile that could carry a nuclear warhead - in breach of a missile
test ban.

Others think nuclear brinkmanship is a way for Kim to reassert his iron grip
on power to ensure that one of his sons is well placed to succeed him.
China, the hermit state's regional benefactor, said it was resolutely opposed
to the test, but it was thought to remain opposed to punitive sanctions.
Its foreign ministry said: 'The Chinese side vehemently demands North Korea
abides by its denuclearisation promises, stop any actions which may worsen the
situation and return to the six-party talks process.
'The Chinese government calls on all sides to calmly and appropriately deal
with the situation.'
The U.N. Security Council condemned the test and is working on a new
resolution, but analysts say China is unlikely to support anything tough.
For China, the more immediate risk may be serious rupture inside the
impoverished state, which could spark a flood of North Korean refugees across
its border.

Not only is America now paying the price of its past defeatism over North
Korea, but Obama is now ensuring that the US is weakened even more actively and
catastrophically. The insanity of his overall strategy is set out here by James Lewis, who rightly suggests that Obama is simply
the very worst person to be sitting in the White House right now. And as John
Bolton again wrote in the New York Times:
... the Obama administration is seriously weakening both our strategic
offensive and defensive capacity. The Defense Department budget proposes major
cuts in missile defense programs, returning to an emphasis both in operational
and diplomatic terms on ‘theater’ missile defense (mainly for defending deployed
military forces), rather than ‘national’ missile defense (for shielding
America’s population from missile attack).
... The Pentagon also proposes ending financing for the Reliable Replacement
Warhead, a key to substituting safe, dependable warheads for the ones now
aging... The administration is also putting new emphasis on negotiating
conventions against the ‘arms race’ in outer space, which would undercut
America's current substantial advantage above the earth...
Unhappily, the administration is pushing Israel to sign the Nuclear
Nonproliferation Treaty as a ‘non-nuclear-weapons state,’ meaning Israel would
have to eliminate its nuclear arsenal. Iran and others will welcome this, given
their repeated demands for the same result. Today’s real proliferation threat,
however, is not Israel, but states like Iran and North Korea that become parties
to the alphabet soup of arms control treaties and then violate them with
abandon. Without robust American reactions to these violations--not apparent in
administration thinking--more will follow.
But does Obama care about any of that? As Con Coughlin wrote in the Telegraph:
The naivety of the West’s approach to North Korea was best summed up by
Stephen Bosworth, Mr Obama’s special envoy to the region, who declared he was
‘relatively relaxed’ that the American-led six-nation talks aimed at bringing
Pyongyang to heel have achieved virtually nothing... If the Obama administration
is relaxed about this failure, then I suppose it will take an equally sanguine
view of North Korea’s attempts to export its bomb-making expertise to other
rogue states, such as Iran and Syria.
Indeed, after Israel bombed the Syrian nuclear facility there was evidence of
North Korean involvement in that forbidden programme. North Korea is also
selling nuclear and missile technology to Pakistan as well as Iran. Yet Obama
appears ‘relaxed’ about everyone’s nukes except Israel's– the one country that
will never use them except to prevent itself from being annihilated by the
countries Obama is appeasing.

advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs,
and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across
Europe, and across the world. He did it with a compliant media - Did
you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and .. . .

It is not the first time
that myth has won out over reality. Perhaps Plato’s myth about the
death of Socrates is the oldest example. Another historical myth
is the idea that the Indians had a high culture, a pacifist mentality,
and lived in harmony with nature, and that they were exterminated by
white settlers.
This poses the following question: when does a myth win out over the reality? My answer: when all parties that benefit prefer the myth over the unwelcome reality.
The Indians have an interest in their role as victim. And from the side
of Westerners, history is written by left-wing pseudo-intellectuals:
they want to paint capitalist society, and Christian America, in as bad
a light as possible.
Back to the Hitler myth. At some point in
time I started doubting. Just as children start having doubts about
Santa Claus. It simply cannot be true. In this I was struggling with
the following questions:
If Hitler was a madman, how could he come to power?
Can anyone really hypnotize his audience with a speech?
If Nazism only attracted losers, how could they suddenly grab power?
The
Holocaust is a major operation and a historically unique. Would the
motive for this have only been anti-Semitism? For anti-Semitism is
(literally) as old as the way to Rome.
If Hitler was a sock puppet of the major capitalists, why did he call himself a national socialist?
This
was the first speech of Hitler as Chancellor… a strange little man that
is just screaming anything. Do you feel the spell of his hypnotic power
come over you?
Via a “health care fund” the Dutch State
pays the cost of health care of the below average income segment of our
people. This fund is hailed as “a pinnacle of civilization”. However,
it was established by the Nazis on November 1, 1941 [during the occupation of the Netherlands].

2006, the PvdA (Socialists) blocked the loosening of Dutch employment
protection. The labor unions even called this employment protection “holy”. However, this measure was also introduced by the Nazis.
After a long leftist life, Jacques van Doorn wrote German Socialism. In this book he demonstrated that historians traditionally portray the conservatives, the
Reichswehr, the nobility and industrialists as the trailblazers to
Hitler. However, the NSDAP was one of the few political parties in the
German Weimar Republic that was not funded by these groups.

so many contradictions, our image of Hitler cannot possibly be based on
reality. There is a Hitler myth, but how could that occur?
Where did the Hitler myth come from? And why would you believe it?
In Part I demonstrated that a Hitler-myth
exists. Our image of Hitler and Nazism is a fantasy. This fantasy was
created by some special interest groups, who together wrote history.

What special interest did they have?
1. The pre-war establishment had to explain why they did not stop Hitler and the Holocaust.
They also, after 1945, had to channel popular support for Nazism to
their aid. The following components of the Hitler myth were in their
interest:

— The political establishment had been unable to predict the Second World War or the Holocaust.
“The followers of Hitler were mainly socially frustrated.”
— Hitler’s followers were standing outside the establishment. Hitler was hated by the establishment.

— The political establishment is responsible for the cleaning up the remnants of Nazism.
2. The baby boom generation were the first “children of the welfare state”.
They pinched the power of the establishment. In this struggle, the
leveling of the “fascism-reproach” proved to be a strong weapon: anyone
who stands in the way of the baby boomers is called “a fascist”.
Hitler myth versus the interest:
“Hitler was financed by the great industrialists.”

The baby boomers saw capitalism as an obstacle on their way to power.
Therefore capitalism had to be portrayed as the breeding ground of
Hitler and Nazism.
“The Nazis disputed social democrats and communists.”

The baby boomers identified themselves as socialists and/or communists.
Now they also could delude themselves as the “victims of Hitler
The Holocaust was enabled by the German law-abiding culture.”

If a law-abiding culture had led to the Holocaust, then the fight
against the authority simply had to be justified. And the baby boomers
fought against authority in the 1960s

All of these "czars" -- to what end? Sidestepping any of our nation's checks and balances? And now we have -- drum roll please -- a cyber czar. This is all happening so fast .......... every day another freedom seized. More federal power.

care, And crap and trade, energy control and usage, not to mention co-opting the census and all the power and money that goes with it.
President Obama is expected to announce late this week that he will create a "cyber czar," a senior White House official who will have broad authority to develop strategy to protect the nation's government-run and private computer networks, according to people who have been briefed on the plan.
Intimidating Americans from exercising their rights to speak as free men is the action of a liberal totalitarian state. I spent the last eight years documenting the left's relentless campaign against the constitution, defense of freedom, the Bush doctrine etc in the most vile obscene demonstrations of "protest". No one stopped them. Now, when we express our G-d given right to opinion - we are criminalized.
Beginning in earnest in September of 2008 I began a campaign of letter writing
to elected United States Representatives, Senators, and the White House under
both President Bush and now President Obama. The tone of my correspondence has
been that of a citizen who is fed up with the government for spending money we
do not have, at a time when we are experiencing economic deflation, and taking
control of private business, where I believe it is in violation of the
constitutional rights of business owners, shareholders, and frankly every
citizen of this country. Ask the Bank of America shareholders today if their
rights were violated when the government forced BACs CEO to purchase Merrill
Lynch for $15 billion more than its' value. I wasn't aware of the facts at that
time, but I knew government had no right to enter into the making of business
decisions for shareholders, with or without full disclosure.
I have
further stated my intent to exercise any and all of my rights as a citizen to do
everything in my power to see that any elected official who refuses to govern
according to the constitution, and who refuses to act in an official capacity
according to the wishes, beliefs, and demands of the public be removed from
public office. I have also voiced my opinion that career politicians are the
antithesis of the views of the framers, and called for single term limits of any
elected office. In no way did I ever suggest anything other than our
constitutional rights as citizens to control our government's
actions.
Yesterday, as a result of one of my letters, I was paid a visit
by the Joint Terrorism Task Force of the FBI. One Senator, Sheldon Whitehouse,
reported to the FBI that he felt I was endangering the government and should be
investigated as a suspected terrorist. This after every single one my letters
was sent through the official website of the government, and contained all of my
personally identifying information and was specifically stated as advising each
U. S. Senator that I was offering political opinion about pending legislation,
or governmental policy.
Apparently, as this left leaning Congress
assaults our rights on a daily basis, they are now resorting to reporting
dissenters to their policies to the FBI, under the guise of terrorist threats.
Since when did expressing a p0litical opinion, or disagreeing with the passage
of Socialist bills in the legislature become terrorist in nature? I have
specifically objected vehemently to the TARP, TALC, Economic Recovery Act,
Omnibus Spending Bill, President Obama's 3.6 trillion dollar budget, cap and
trade, and every other anti capitalist bill put forth in the 111th
Congress.
The FBI agent was very polite and respectful. He explained why
I had been targeted and by whom, Senator Whitehouse, and assured me that this
would be the end of it. I explained to him in answer to his questions what and
why I had written. He agreed that I have the constitutional right to express my
dissatisfaction with government policy. The last thing he said to me was to
advise that I keep expressing my opinions.
At first I wasn't too
bothered, but really amused that a Senator would do such a thing. I immediately
starting penning a new letter to the Honorable Senator, then left it to cool
before pressing the submit button. Over the course of the next few hours, the
realization of the intent of the Senator's action, and the resulting wariness on
my part to write anymore letters came rising up as rage that an elected
representative in the United States of America would even dare do such a thing.

Julia Gorin digs through the FBI report on the Salt Lake City Valentine's day massacre of 2007. Here is previous extensive coverage of the jihad in Salt Lake here. One detail it mentions, which we didn’t hear about before, is that Talovic was
wearing a miniature Koran necklace while he shot the people at the mall. This is
new information, which we’re finding out only because someone made a Freedom of
Information Act request.
Why the FBI and the corrupt media insists on keeping the motive of these massacres a secret is a matter for a different post.
What may be the final follow-up to the Valentine’s week massacre of 2007 got
local coverage only — in the Salt Lake Tribune and by Salt Lake City radio
station KSL. But at least a couple of the findings in this recently released FBI report on the incident go unmentioned by either news
organization. Here are the significant findings in the report about
Bosnian-Muslim murderer Sulejman Talovic, who killed five Americans and wounded
four:
1) Talovic was described as a religious Muslim, attending mosque on Fridays
and praying outside of mosque as well.
2) He wore a necklace with a miniature Koran at the time of the shooting.
3) His body was prepped at a mosque before being sent to Bosnia.
4) He told his “girlfriend” the night before that “tomorrow will be the
happiest day of my life…” (a likely reference to martyrdom).
5) He held prejudicial beliefs against Serbs, homosexuals, and blacks.
6) Police were called to his school in 2004 after Talovic was caught looking
at guns on the internet and making the statement that his “grandfather
was in the jihad.”
That last one indicates that Bosnians secretly know they were engaged in a
jihad even as they claim victimhood.
In this redacted FBI form, meanwhile, a co-worker said that Talovic would sometimes
do Nazi salutes.
But for some reason, the emphasis in this Salt Lake Tribune article is not on
the fact that Talovic had a history with Islam, hatred and violence (all
mutually-fueling factors), but on the fact that he had a history with the mall
as a hangout:
When 18-year-old Sulejman Talovic walked into Trolley Square and opened fire
on shoppers, he was returning to a childhood hangout, according to
newly-released FBI documents.
Talovic and his family used to live one block from the mall, and one person
told agents Talovic played there with his sisters as a child. … But in 745
pages of reports, the FBI did not conclude why Talovic committed the Feb. 12,
2007, shooting or uncover any evidence of a wider plot behind
them…
And of course, if there is no wider plot, then let’s block out the
possibility of Sudden Jihad Syndrome as well.
…The FBI wrote that Talovic in 2001 or 2002 “made a statement that he was
going to shoot white people, like Serbs.” The nine people Talovic shot at
Trolley Square were white.
“…white people, like Serbs.” That would be a reference to us, Folks. How many
times do I have to say it? In the Balkans, Serbs were target practice for
Muslims — like Jews are in the Middle East. Practice for the rest of us. And so
we helped the Muslims take aim.
…One of the people later told the FBI Talovic said he liked white supremacist
music.
“I don’t like black people,” Talovic reportedly said. “That’s why I was in
the KKK.”
Another witness said he once saw a wound on Talovic’s arm and asked about it.
“Talovic said he had previously gotten a swastika tattoo and had then removed
it himself, by cutting it off,” according to notes of the witness interview.
Talovic said “he did not know what the swastika meant and stood for when he had
gotten the tattoo.” Talovic’s family told agents he did not have a
tattoo. … One person…told the FBI Talovic said he hated “faggots” and was
smoking opium and crystal meth. … Talovic wore a necklace containing a
miniature Quran during the attacks, documents say, and FBI agents asked many
people about Talovic’s Islamic faith. Family told agents Talovic once attended a
mosque for prayers every Friday but stopped when he left school and began
working. Co-workers did not observe Talovic praying during the day. The FBI
found no evidence his religion was a factor.
Stacy Hanson, a Talovic victim who is confined to a wheelchair as a result,
in an interview Friday said… “It doesn’t change anything, but it’s nice to know
something about this guy because our lives have been changed — every single one
of us.”

It is interesting to me that the "adult" Bush administration spent months, years even, vetting candidates to the Supreme Court, going through their entire histories, rulings, papers etc.

WASHINGTON (May 26) — President
Barack Obama named federal appeals judge Sonia Sotomayor as the nation's first
Hispanic Supreme Court justice on Tuesday, praising her as "an inspiring woman"
with both the intellect and compassion to interpret the Constitution
wisely.
Obama said Sotomayor has more
experience as a judge than any current member of the high court had when
nominated, adding she has earned the "respect of colleagues on the bench," the
admiration of lawyers who appear in her court and "the adoration of her clerks."
Over the past few weeks, I've been talking to a
range of people who have worked with her, nearly all of them former law
clerks for other judges on the Second Circuit or former federal
prosecutors in New York. Most are Democrats and all of them want
President Obama to appoint a judicial star of the highest intellectual
caliber who has the potential to change the direction of the court.
Nearly all of them acknowledged that Sotomayor is a presumptive
front-runner, but nearly none of them raved about her. They expressed
questions about her temperament, her judicial craftsmanship, and most
of all, her ability to provide an intellectual counterweight to the
conservative justices, as well as a clear liberal alternative.
The
most consistent concern was that Sotomayor, although an able lawyer,
was "not that smart and kind of a bully on the bench," as one former
Second Circuit clerk for another judge put it. "She has an inflated
opinion of herself, and is domineering during oral arguments, but her
questions aren't penetrating and don't get to the heart of the issue."
(During one argument, an elderly judicial colleague is said to have
leaned over and said, "Will you please stop talking and let them
talk?") Second Circuit judge Jose Cabranes, who would later become her
colleague, put this point more charitably in a 1995 interview with The New York Times: "She is not intimidated or overwhelmed by the eminence or power or prestige of any party, or indeed of the media."
Her
opinions, although competent, are viewed by former prosecutors as not
especially clean or tight, and sometimes miss the forest for the trees.
It's customary, for example, for Second Circuit judges to circulate
their draft opinions to invite a robust exchange of views. Sotomayor,
several former clerks complained, rankled her colleagues by sending
long memos that didn't distinguish between substantive and trivial
points, with petty editing suggestions--fixing typos and the
like--rather than focusing on the core analytical issues.
Some
former clerks and prosecutors expressed concerns about her command of
technical legal details: In 2001, for example, a conservative
colleague, Ralph Winter, included an unusual footnote
in a case suggesting that an earlier opinion by Sotomayor might have
inadvertently misstated the law in a way that misled litigants. The
most controversial case in which Sotomayor participated is Ricci v. DeStefano,
the explosive case involving affirmative action in the New Haven fire
department, which is now being reviewed by the Supreme Court. A panel
including Sotomayor ruled against the firefighters in a perfunctory
unpublished opinion. This provoked Judge Cabranes, a fellow Clinton
appointee, to object
to the panel's opinion that contained "no reference whatsoever to the
constitutional issues at the core of this case." (The extent of
Sotomayor's involvement in the opinion itself is not publicly known.)
The nuclear go-to boys for Islamic jihad completed their sales presentation of their latest nuclear bomb test with a demonstration of their state of art delivery system. The North Koreans launched two missiles a day after testing another nuclear bomb.

FOX NEWS: SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea
launched tests Tuesday of two more short-range missiles a day after conducting a
nuclear test, news reports said, pushing the regime's confrontation with world
powers further despite the threat of U.N. Security Council action.
Two missiles — one ground-to-air, the other
ground-to-ship — with a range of about 80 miles (130 kilometers) were test-fired
Tuesday from an east coast launch pad, the Yonhap news agency and YTN television
reported, citing unnamed South Korean officials.
South Korea's spy chief, Won Sei-hoon, had
informed lawmakers earlier Tuesday that North Korea appeared to be preparing to
test-fire more missiles, according to Park Young-sun, a legislator who attended
the closed-door session.
Pyongyang also test-fired three short-range
missiles Monday in the hours after conducting an underground nuclear test in the
northeast, Yonhap said.
Glenda Johnson saw so many police and plain clothed federal agents on her
block that she thought someone had been shot.
"The police was so crowded, you couldn't even walk past. They was in trucks,
they was in cars, they was in regular cars. It looked like someone had killed
someone," said Johnson.
That swarm of badges consisted of the FBI, Chicago Police and the Joint
Terrorism Task Force. In their sights were two buildings on the 6300 block of
North Artesian. People who live in a six flat there say the feds were very
interested in its basement, specifically, two storage lockers.
A spokesperson for the FBI confirms a search warrant was executed at the
building as part of an ongoing investigation. Glenda Johnson says an FBI agent
made the search sound extremely urgent.
“They was looking for someone who lives in this building. So I was like
‘what's the cause?’ They said ‘we don't want to say yet, but it's a life and
death situation.’ I was like ‘wow,’” said Johnson.
A source in federal law enforcement told Fox Chicago that the case is similar
to one that unfolded in New York yesterday.
