I had a great interview early this morning with Congressman Michele Bachmann, a Republican Congresswoman from east-central Minnesota, a warrior against Obama's war on America.
Bachmann really gets it. This is a woman I would gladly follow into battle. She's a comer. If America is to emerge from this war from within, it will be under the stewardship of great Americans like Bachmann. I am a huge fan.
Listen to the whole thing (roughly 20 minutes) here: Download Michele Bachmann.
KGS was kind enough to transcribe the last five minutes for us. Listen to Bachmann. This is our manifesto for winning back America.
Bachmann: Make sure his first term is his last term. And then we have to be extremely bold, if we are fortunate enough to win the presidency in 2012. we have to be extremely bold in our agenda for freedom, we need a freedom agenda, that would repeal and cut out what president Obama has implemented, but go beyond that and put this nation back on a footing where we will be the venue for risk taking, and to be a preserver of the freedoms that are enshrined, not only in the constitution but in the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights has been trampled upon, because the Bill of rights as you know, was enjoining government from treading upon the liberties the people. It was all about ensuring individual liberties and rights, and president Obama is marching full steam in the opposite direction.
Pamela: In the opposite direction. Listen, we need leadership like you. The Republicans need bold and courageous leadership.
Bachmnan: Bold and courageous, that's right.
Pamela: And I mean, the RNC needs to get behind of folks like Alan West. Mambie pampies are just not going to do it, we need to stop moving to the Left. It has to stop.
Bachmann: Right. We actually, this is a man-made, government-made disaster, this economic conundrum we're in right now. We could see ourselves go forward next quarter already if we do a few things, if we would do this. If we would permanently zero out the capital gains tax for four years, so that we could let people know that for four years there would be zero capital gains tax. Take the business tax rate from the second highest in the world, 34%, and cut that down to 9% for a corporate tax rate, that would be bring in foreign investment and jobs back into the United States. Completely eliminate the death tax, completely eliminate the alternative minimum tax, and then I think that we need to bold on income tax. Scrap the income tax code, and put into place a tax system where everyone has to get in on the game.
Whether it's through a national sales tax, or whether it's through a flat tax, and my personal opinion, I'd love to see in our perfect world a flat tax rate that's no more than 10% on any American on the federal level, and then that's it. And then we would pull way back on our spending, including eliminating the federal department of education. We don't need the federal department of education, that function needs to happen at the state level. And then we need to go through, dramatically change what government does, that we truly are a constitutional government acting under our enumerated powers, and then we do no more, because the number one duty of government is to protect the health and the safety of the American people, and we need to make sure that we focus on first things first.
Pamela: I couldn't agree with you more. I mean listen, I think he has basically surrendered, that's how the enemy sees it, there are a couple of Syrian leaders who have said, "it wasn't Obama who changed the world, it was the Jihad that changed the world, it was resistance that changed the world." So that the perception of his not calling it a war on terror, not wanting to insult, respect, respect, respect, this barbaric enemy, in many ways, I think, is going to let us in for a world of pain.
Bachmann: Yeah, I agree.
Pamela: It's going to be a long four years.
Bachmann: I agree, I agree, but this can be instructive to Republicans to never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever again, give into the temptation of wanting to be liked, by spending other people's money. It is the biggest mistake that could have possibly been made, and to think that could have been the precursor to cause us the loss of our freedom and potentially our country. We must never forget that.
More transcribing later.
Bachmann has introduced a resolution to ban the use of global currency. Bachmann: No foreign currency. And she is not alone:
Rasmusssen Poll: 88% Say It’s Important To Keep The Dollar As America’s Currency.
I asked Bachmann in our interview how many members have signed on, she said 30. I strongly recommend you let your representatives know how you feel.
BTW, check out Bachmann video at the AIG hearings here.
Michele Bachmann takes the gloves off when eviscerating President Obama’s energy plans. Over at Smart Politics blog at the University of Minnesota’s Center for the Study of Politics and Governance, Ms. Bachmann, when asked about President Obama’s cap-and-trade plans on a local radio station last Saturday, responded:
I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back. Thomas Jefferson told us, “Having a revolution every now and then is a good thing,” and the people – we the people – are going to have to fight back hard if we’re not going to lose our country. And I think this has the potential of changing the dynamic of freedom forever in the United States.
Ms. Bachmann also expressed some skepticism on global warming, saying, “The science is on our side on this one, and the science indicates that human activity is not the cause of all this global warming. And that in fact, nature is the cause, with solar flares, etc.”
Bachmann's take on Cap and Trade:
Much has been made of President Obama's recently proposed cap-and-trade, energy-tax policy that he would soon like to see implemented as a means to raise revenue for his health care reform and other big spending plans. The graph below, provided by Ways and Means Ranking Member Dave Camp (R-MI), shows the state-by-state analysis of annual per capita increases in electricity costs that would occur under a 100% auction, as President Obama has called for, to meet his target carbon emission reductions.
