Jew haters are on a rampage in Malmö and Tundra Tabloids is reporting that Swedish politicians help anti-Israel protesters by keeping the tennis match behind closed doors.
ETT advised me:
10,000 demonstrators expected.
1,000 police including police from Denmark.
New Nazis expected to join the demo.
Police estimate that up to 6,000 demonstrators have joined a march in Malmö to protest against the ongoing Davis Cup match between Sweden and Israel in the city. There are reported to be some 200 masked demonstrators at the back of the march and police confirm that the otherwise peaceful march was disrupted by incidents involving paint bombs, fireworks and Bengal lights.Several of the masked, black-clad hooligans rushed the barriers holding demonstrators away from the Baltisk Hallen arena where the match is taking place. The first day of competition in the Davis Cup first round match passed off calmly and none of the forecast trouble and fighting occurred. But police took no chances on Saturday with up to 1,000 officers on duty.Saturday's march is being marshalled closely by a large police presence including a helicopter escort. Rumours that neo-nazi and other extremist groups intend to infiltrate the march have kept police on alert. The controversy over the match has been building for weeks and gathered pace when local politicians ordered that the match to be played behind closed doors. Former Green party leader Per Gahrton claimed that the decision had already given demonstrators some success. "We have been helped by brave politicians in Malmö. We thank them for that," Gahrton said.
Back on March 1, KGS called it: Sweden Allows the Davis Cup to Become a Political Farce.......
ESPN Peter Bodo wrote:
There can be only one reason for how this has come about: The town fathers in Malmo, and perhaps the leadership of the Swedish federation itself, desperately wants this tie to be controversial -- wants to see it played behind closed doors, in order to somehow suggest that Israel is a pariah nation -- thereby advancing anti-Israel sentiment.
Malmo is bracing for an influx of demonstrators against Israel, which also plays right into the hands of those who wish to embarrass Israel. What could be better, in terms of advancing the agenda, than having streets full of demonstrators and a visiting nation that can't be allowed to show its flag? This is a crude and astonishing example of using the Davis Cup as a political football.
The activists hurled rocks and firecrackers at police vans as they tried to break through the barricades set up to keep protesters from the arena. Hundreds of riot police pushed them back using truncheons.
There were no immediate reports of injuries. At least five people were detained, police spokesman Lars Hakan Lindholm said.
The clashes erupted after about 7,000 people gathered at a square in downtown Malmo to hear speeches condemning Israel's offensive in Gaza and urging support for Palestinians.
Organizers of the "stop the match" protest had said the demonstration would be peaceful, but extreme-left activists had vowed to disrupt the match, which is being played without fans in Malmo.
Sweden's Left Party leader Lars Ohly told the crowd that the European Union and the rest of the world should "boycott the racist regime in Israel."
The protesters then marched toward the Baltic Hall arena, where some of them attacked the police line with eggs, rocks and firecrackers.
The doubles match between Sweden and Israel started as planned before about 300 special guests invited by the two countries' tennis federations.
About 1,000 police from southern Sweden were deployed in Malmo to keep the protesters from entering the arena.
UPDATE: The leftists are there - the communist AFA but also Neo Nazis and the Muhammadans of Malmö, basically all Jew haters. (video hat tip Spencer)

If Sweden can't guarantee the safety of the tennis players, then Sweden shouldn't be hosting Davis Cup matches. Period. It seems the Swedes have a decision, Do they want to be a third world nation, or first world ?

terezia:
you disagreed with my "comment" at "a communique from the battlefied of hearts and minds," suggesting that i am not mindful of the realities of the consequences of speaking freely one's conscience in the academy.

perhaps.
i am very conscious, however, of the consequences of not speaking freely speaking one's mind everywhere. please read this post, with regard to those consequences. do you think that while you maintain your practiced silence the other side stays still, and does not act to forward its agenda.
for every moment of your advised calculated silence the other side profits and advances and moves. again, terezia, read this post, and contemplate the cost of being cowed into silence. you advice simply gulls the follower of same.
enough of cows and gulls.
if you do not speak, terezia, others speak over your silence, instead of speaking over the points you could have raised with your brave voice.
again, i do not know the consequences of your speaking. i do know the consequence of your silence. it is spelled, defeat.

terezia:
with all due respect.--
this stalwart but oh so prudent and calculating fellow you posit, who tactically maintains his silence to preserve his profession and material well being in this raucous world, until he reaches tenure, ... , pray, terezia, when does this stalwart fellow speak, after swallowing his pride and tongue and compromising himself over a lifetime?
i somehow doubt your scenario.
you do not counsel temperance and civility. you counsel cowardice. plain and simple.
i was struck by black jack pershings response to a question with regard to how his troops would respond to their first taste of battle against hardened german troops, and he responded that they would fall back on what they knew, that "they would do as they had been trained."
your prudent fellow, when he comes across his battle, if he recognizes it, will do as he has trained himself his entire life middle class life, his entire academic life, ... , he will maintain his silence. it will be, terezia, because he knows and follows no other path, his timorousness having long since controlled him.
one does not attain character, and courage of his convictions, by "training" in their avoidance. one learns to accept the courage of his convictions, and the costs of holding them, early on in life, or they simply cease to exist.
these are hard lessons. these are lessons you have yet to learn.
i cannot tell you the consequences of exercising your voice and exercising your courage at every turn in your life. i can tell you, however, with absolute certainty, the consequences of the failure to do so, and that is an enemy that advances its cause of your silence and your failure to act, because you are afraid to do so. that consequence is defeat.
terezia, please read my "comment" at http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2009/03/violent-protests-against-jewish-tennis-player-in-malmo-sweden.html . in this blog.
the consequence of a swedish population's cowardice to speak out against these muslim riots and the islamization of europe, against this anti-semitic bullshit, is to suffer these demonstrations over and over again, until there is no sweden.
the consequence of your advice in the context of academia, is that academia ceases to exist.
i will address you as cromwell address the lords before they pronounced his execution, "i beseech you, in the bowels of christ, pray consider that you are wrong." you are wrong, terezia, because you do not consider that the big battle is not to come, where we will need to exercise our courage, ... , you do not recognize that the big battle is happening right now, and each moment of cowed silence is defeat for us, and victory for islam.

The Swedish media has bent over backwards to avoid stating the obvious: that the "demonstrators" are moslems. The problem is not an Israeli tennis player, but the violent, anti-Semitic animals Sweden has allowed to emigrate to their country. Blaming the riots on Jews or what is going on in Gaza is like having your home destroyed by termites and blaming it on the choice of the wood used in its construction... The solution is to get rid of the termites...

By the looks of those pictures, its already too late for the Swedes. They've never had to fight for their existence for 202 years - and it damned well shows. The native Swedes have behaved just like the trusting and gutless Eloi for far too long, and they're in big trouble against their Islamic Morlocks who are devouring their country a mere 15 or 20 years after their arrival. And unlike in the Time Machine, we certainly don't have to go forward hundreds of thousands of years to see where it will all end - 40 or 50 years will be more than enough.

Hi
local TV coverage, in Danish, of Malmo demonstration. small part in English where Israeli tennis player is interviewed. An offical from the stadium says they have employed 100 extra guards. this is on top of the police.
The angrey women is Danish. She complains about Israel sending people abroad and getting Israel a good name. Maybe she thinks the tennis players work for Mossad. The other women says that the rioters are not her problem but that of the organizers(Of the tennis match.) Since she is dressed as a steward she is supposed to be controlling the demo.

I am an American Swede, but am disappointed almost daily by the place my ancestors called home. Spirit above is correct...Sweden had gotten nothing correct politically for a very long time. Hell...even their meatballs are not that good...and now that I think about it...their hockey player's in the NHL have always been a bunch of candy asses. Its embarrassing.

This Davis Cup match contains an important lesson in tolerance. The Israeli player was Amir Hadad, who had teamed with a Pakistani Muslim, Aisam Qureshi, in the 2002 U.S. Open and the 2002 and 2003 Wimbledon tournaments. Those two received the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award for "tolerance through tennis."
The Malmo rioters couldn't have picked a better model for their demonstration of intolerance.
