A madman terrorized a Brooklyn synagogue last night, chucking soda cans at worshipers and waving a butcher knife over his head, police and witnesses said. One of the cans hit a worshiper at Kerestir Synagogue on Berry Street in Williamsburg and the pair began to fight at about 7:30 p.m. The thug left only to return moments later, brandishing the 12-inch blade in search of the victim and sparking a panic. "Everybody ran out scared," said Zach Jacobs, 27.

"It was terrible, everybody was screaming." Luckily, a friend of the kook, described as a black man in his early 20s, was able to stop him before he hurt anyone. The pair fled.

I have strongly suggested to many different  so-called action groups, that we immediately institute a program of visits to every synagogue in the USA, on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, and rise in each congregation and - in dignified firm and unemotional voices - repeat “STOP THE KILLING”– We need to go in groups of 3-4, to insure that we have 1 person as a defensive shield, and one as a video camera witness, recording everything.

Jews especially should be doing these actions. We will face harsh treatment, and possibly physical attack, but our message must be resolute and continue week after week.

I see no possible legal impediment to this. The public, and certainly Jews- cannot be barred from entry to the services, and it will be extremely hard for the Synagogues to enforce exclusion. If they do, we can speak on the front steps, on the street, in the parking lot.

The Jews of America must be confronted with their clear responsibility- far more than complicity-in the mass murders, occupation, and forced starvation of the people of Palestine.

Pam - what part of the article from James Petras are you recommending for self action? I do not see anything that would be complimentary in this piece, in fact I found the article completely misleading.

Marion, You misunderstood. I was merely running the link that was posted back in January on a virulently Jew hating site urging the antisemites to take a new kind of action against synagogues by going in and terrorizing the congregation.

I am removing the link -- I do not in any way wish to give linkage o anything that might promote such action

we are very close to economic collapse and unrest, perhaps outright civil war between leftists and socially & politically conservative, mainstream if you will, americans.

the economic situation continues its ripple down effect, with massive lay offs every where, and collapsing markets.

i think it prudent for people to prepare.

people should have firearms, food stores, potables and first aid supplies on hand, sufficient enough to sustain each person in the family for a year. beans, rice, pasta, fatty canned meats such as chili beans, beef hash, and vienna sausages. do not worry about health concerns, get dense nutrients. and, for the sake of civilized existence, get diaper wipes. hand cranked short wave radios are another excellent idea.

as to the firearm, a pump shotgun is good, and any kind of rifle capable of handling 250+ lbs mammals is sufficient, and beats any kind of handgun hands down, in almost any kind of situation.

p.s. you can get a surplus sks in 7.62 russian for about $150, and surplus european arms circa wwii vintage, of any caliber and model as quite useful in a pinch, nad dirt cheap.

The email is disturbing. But I find nothing in the post saying who it came from. Thus it becomes difficult to decide how much weight to give it or how to contextualize it. There is also nothing in the post to cause one to believe that the actions of the butcher knife welding man are at all related to the the email.

you know what? G-d bless this guy who tried to defend the shul by using a chair. but what bothers me is why didn't the people of the shul, instead of being afraid, say "hell no bastard!!!" and attack the guy and throw him out?!!!

that was one guy.. a bunch of men with chairs could have whupped his sorry a--.'
