Islamist Websites Call to Attack American, Israeli Interests MEMRI
In response to the Gaza offensive, Islamist websites have posted many messages calling to attack Israeli and American interests worldwide. A member of the Shumukh Al-Islam forum, for example, called to attack American and Israeli embassies around the world, and asked for information about these embassies - especially in Europe, Asia and Arab countries - and for pictures of them. Fellow members explained how to find the embassies using Google Earth, and posted links to websites of U.S. embassies, among them the one in Maskat, Oman. A member of the Islamist forum Al-Fallujah urged Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb to attack the Israeli embassy in Mauritania and the Israeli representations in Morocco and Tunisia.

AMSTERDAM: Two years ago, the Dutch could quietly congratulate themselves on having brought what seemed to be a fair measure of consensus and reason to the meanest intersection in their national political life: the one where integration of Muslim immigrants crossed Dutch identity.
In the run-up to choosing a new government in 2006, just 24 percent of the voters considered the issue important, and only 4 percent regarded it as the election's central theme.
What a turnabout, it seemed - and whatever the reason (spent passions, optimism, resignation?), it was a soothing respite for a country whose history of tolerance was the first in 21st-century Europe to clash with the on-street realities of its growing Muslim population.
Since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in the United States, the Netherlands had lived through something akin to a populist revolt against accommodating Islamic immigrants led by Pim Fortuyn, who was later murdered; the assassination of the filmmaker Theo Van Gogh, accused of blasphemy by a homegrown Muslim killer; and the bitter departure from the Netherlands of Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Somali woman who became a member of Parliament before being marked for death for her criticism of radical Islam.
Now something fairly remarkable is happening again.

It came at the same time Nicolas Sarkozy was making a case in France for greater opportunities for minorities that also contained an admission that the French notion of equality "doesn't work anymore."
But there was a difference. If judged on the standard scale of caution in dealing with cultural clashes and Muslims' obligations to their new homes in Europe, the language of the Dutch position paper and Lilianne Ploumen, Labor's chairperson, was exceptional.
The paper said: "The mistake we can never repeat is stifling criticism of cultures and religions for reasons of tolerance."
Government and politicians had too long failed to acknowledge the feelings of "loss and estrangement" felt by Dutch society facing parallel communities that disregard its language, laws and customs.
Newcomers, according to Ploumen, must avoid "self-designated victimization."
She asserted, "the grip of the homeland has to disappear" for these immigrants who, news reports indicate, also retain their original nationality at a rate of about 80 percent once becoming Dutch citizens.
Instead of reflexively offering tolerance with the expectation that things would work out in the long run, she said, the government strategy should be "bringing our values into confrontation with people who think otherwise."
There was more: punishment for trouble-making young people has to become so effective such that when they emerge from jail they are not automatically big shots, Ploumen said.
For Ploumen, talking to the local media, "The street is mine, too. I don't want to walk away if they're standing in my path.
"Without a strategy to deal with these issues, all discussion about creating opportunities and acceptance of diversity will be blocked by suspicion and negative experience."
And that comes from the heart of the traditional, democratic European left, where placing the onus of compatibility on immigrants never found such comfort before.

Hundreds of Iranian radicals stormed the British compound in Tehran last night, replacing the Union flag with a Palestinian one in protest against Israel’s military offensive in the Gaza Strip.
British officials will be assessing whether the security breach, unprecedented in recent years, was an isolated incident or presages further violent demonstrations.
A hardline Iranian news agency said that protests against Britain and Egypt, whose embassy was also targeted, would continue.
Hardline Iranian students have often staged noisy protests outside the British embassy in Tehran, hurling stones and petrol bombs at the building, but Tuesday night’s incident was the first time in decades that they have breached diplomatic territory.

UPDATE: 2 Jews wounded in Denmark shooting. Two Jews were wounded when they were shot by a group of Muslim men in a mall in Odense, Denmark on Wednesday afternoon. (more here)
The Israelis were selling Dead Sea cosmetics at a stand in the mall - a job many young Israelis pursue, usually following military service, in order to save money for their future and to continue their travels.
A group of men with Middle Eastern-looking features approached them and an altercation developed. A man in the group then brandished a weapon and fired at the Israelis.
One of them was hit in the hand and the other in the leg. Their wounds were not life-threatening. The man hit in the arm had his bone broken by the bullet near the elbow, his employer in Denmark told Channel 2 on the phone. The man was speaking just as his employee was getting into surgery at a Danish hospital.
The public's assistance was requested in capturing the shooter, who was probably a Palestinian, police said. His getaway car was already found but he had fled on foot.

Across the street was an anemic counter protest. Where were the Jewish kids? NOWHERE. Jewish leadership and the diaspora have failed miserably in the education of our youth. The entire Muslim rally was young, wild -- frenetic. Itchy fingers on hair triggers.
Jewish lay leadership should be thrown out on the dhimmi asses. They have failed an entire generation of slackers.
"Israel is a terrorist state!" Screaming, yelling, very ugly .... police were not prepared. At one point the Muslims broke out crossed the street and confronted the 18 Jewish and Israel lovers across the street (watch the video, I caught part of it).
Someone tell this asshat that Israel has been sending truckloads of humanitarian aid into Gazastan.

....our Defence Dept who said they have access to telephone nos. in Gaza and beginning two days ago began calling the Arab population of Gaza in areas where the Israel Air Force was going to bomb and left messages in Arabic telling them to get out, since their gov't, led by Hamas, had placed strategic weapons and ammunition in their area and Israel was forced to destroy it to protect it's citizens.
First, let me say that the idea of placing ammunition and weapons among it's citizenry is a violation of human rights and the UN. This is something the Arab gov'ts have been doing in just about every war with Israel. Hamas is among the most uncaring and even among it's citizenry that supports them they have used their homes and living space to store ammunition and weapons. Hezbullah in Lebanon did the same thing.
The other point I want to make is that we have been extremely careful to avoid civilian casualties and when was the last time in the history of warfare that any gov't called it's enemy populations and told them to get out since their areas were targeted and tried to protect civilians. To my knowledge this is a first.
I don't think you'll see this story in the popular western press. But it did happen and is happening here. On two different occasions in the past two days I personally heard on radio that our gov't thru the ministry made more than 90,000 telephone calls per day to Gaza residents warning them that their specific area was targeted.
Please let your friends and neighbors know about this action that does show we care, and don't let the local media cry about the poor civilians who are being massacred when their own Hamas gov't cares less about them than their mortal enemies.

There were more of them than us and a few incidents where if the LAPD had not been there, it could have become ugly. The rhetoric of 'Fakenstinians' is typically ugly. They were screaming for 'Jews and Christians to get out of Palestine', and one Pali man in his 60s told my friend 'Hitler Should Have Finished off the Job'. ( I won't tell you what she told him, but he was in shock). So many LAPD were there, including the riot police. It's says a lot about who they are when most of the cops and riot people were posted on 'their' side. Also, as the Pali's rode by in their cars, they shouted 'Fuck You, Fuck you Jews' (which shows their limited intelligence). Of course we were also called 'pigs', 'dogs' accused of 'Genocide' (very rich coming from them). They are just looking for a violent fight and confrontation. Someone on our side had to call the police to come and protect us as they tried to come over to our side and start something. Amazing, that we as Jews are facing such vile hate in L.A. in America. Wish I had a camcorder. Glad we went. Next time we need to be larger and louder

Thanks for the info on the planned CAIR rallies. I attended the one in Tampa, Fl this evening.
For 2 hours today, I experienced a little bit of what it is like to be Israel, surrounded by a mob who hates you.
Arriving at the site, and surveying the lay of the land, I decided to stand with two fellows wrapped in the Jewish flag, across the street from about 200 "anti Israel" protesters. That was it, me the two jewish guys and one muslim on one side of the street and a whole sea of Palestinian flags, megaphones and mania on the other side. I am a Christian, and was warmly welcomed by my new Jewish friends, and coldly received by the lone "anti Israel" protester on our side of Dale Mabry highway.
This guy really wanted to argue with me, which I refused to do, and I finally shut him up when I asked him if he had been out protesting the death of thousands of Americans on 9/12 or was he dancing in the streets? He muttered something about "you must pay, America must pay and the Jews must pay" and ambled away.
Their side send several instigators to "our side" to try to intimidate us. A few young men even came and swiped one of the Jewish flags right out of the guys hands. He bravely went across the street to retrieve it, God bless him, and finally a cop got it for him.
I guess standing on the street and holding a sign wasn't enough "action" for these folks, so a whole "contingent" of young men and women marched across the street towards us. Three teenage girls came and stood right in front of me, to block my sign - I just stepped back and held it higher. We were quickly surrounded by this mob of protesters "for peace" - yelling and chanting at us, and telling us we were "outnumbered" and to go home. That's when it occurred to me that this is EXACTLY what Israel is like - surrounded by a mob of people so hyped up on emotion and inaction and frustration, that they have to find someone to blame, to target, to hate. This mob decided to hate us. This mob, holding up signs that said "honk for peace", could not stand the fact that 3 people stood across the street from them and disagreed with them.
I heard one of the "leaders" attempt to calm this mob down and move them back over to their side of the street to no avail - the young men, and girls were determined to scare us away. They ignored the leader, and even said
"This is American and it's a free country, I can stand wherever I want to". Imagine that! One teenage girl ripped a protester sign out of his hands, two others screamed in an older lady's face, all the while the entire crowed of them swarming in and around us, chanting, pounding their fist in the air and spewing hatred.
It wasn't until Tampa's finest (most in plain clothes) showed their badges that the crowd began to make their way back across the street. It wasn't until a SHOW OF FORCE other than their own leader, who tried in vain to calm them, broke up this mob. I would venture to say that if the police weren't there, we would have all been seriously beaten by this gang of "honk if you love peace" protesters.
I don't know why I was compelled to go today, it was something that I could not not do. Perhaps God wanted me to see what His children are suffering with. To have so many hate you for simply being you, for being faithful, and for standing for God.
I was told point blank, that I must "pay", that America must "pay" and that the Jews must "pay" by one of these "honk if you love peace" protesters. I am reminded, that I am always forgiven even when I didn't do anything wrong.

Very few surprises at tonight's ANSWER-sponsored demonstration outside San Francisco's Israeli consulate. The public needs to know, however, real details about the event that the mainstream media (despite their several network trucks, light poles, and cameramen) may ignore.
The Numbers Game: Pro-Israel activists, no matter how principled and committed, were heavily outnumbered by pro-Pali activists by about 4 (or 5) to 1. The Pali-crowd owned one side of the street, while the side with Israelis was about evenly divided among partisans. The radical left-wing site Indybay claimed that thousands turned out for Palestine – that's bunk – there were hundreds, maybe 500, and maybe 100 for Israel.
The Logistics Game: Pro-Pali people had mounted speakers, bullhorns, professionally printed banners and signs (I ended up standing next to the guy who'd printed the signs – the ABC News affiliate filmed us talking to each other), flags (including a Pali flag with the al-Aqsa mosque printed on its white field) and even war drums. Pro-Israeli people had pre-printed signs, many big Israeli flags, and a shofar – all good, but the Palis had the bigger and more portentous act.
The Propaganda Game: The Palis employed all too common slander and very calculated sloganeering to manipulate their several cases. This is key: they were present not merely to protest the Israeli campaign in Gaza, but to present a public face for "FREE PALESTINE!", for "The Right of Return", to "Free The Jena 6" (which some signs described as a "Legal Lynching"). Important to note is the Palis' sense of inevitability: "VICTORY IS OURS!" This includes their case against the US as well as against Israel. One common sign urged to "Stop the US-Israeli Genocide."
Solidarity vs. Solitary: If non-Jews came out to show solidarity with the Jewish State, they didn't show their colors, but non-Palis visibly stepped up to the plate for their pet cause. An average-looking American carried a Hamas flag on a tall pole (he has no direct ties with Hamas – I asked him); an Episcopalian contingent draped a large banner over the police barricade; so did ANSWER. The latter two were on the Pali-owned side, which suggests pre-event planning. An hour into the rally, an aggressive spokeswoman took the bullhorn for the Pali side: she was Asian-American looking and kicked off her remarks with a shrill "Brothers and sisters!" This is par for the course in San Francisco, but anyone who considers himself pro-Israel should note that, by appearances, not one non-Jewish individual or organization dared share sidewalk space with Jews. How existential.
Small world: At one point I found myself alongside Osha Neumann. Osha's a longtime Berkeley radical lawyer, a self-described artist, and a veteran of the 60s anarchist groupuscule, The Motherfuckers. He's also author of the recently-published Up Against the Wall, Motherf**ker, a memoir of going from liberal Jewish kid with a graduate degree from Yale to the more daring fringes of American radicalism. in the book he renounces nothing, but he does admit some of the more bizarre and dangerous elements of modern American radicalism (e.g., willingly submitting to totalitarian organizational structures, submitting oneself to "criticism" in order to become a better radical, etc.).
Most of the Israel activists were young, under 30 & teens.

We were ringed by police, but we were on State Department property in downtown DC, not everyone there was protesting. I saw at least one panhandler fleecing the crowd.
And it was several hundred people
At five o’clock some of them prayed, but certainly a small
portion of them. I guess that’s as deep as most of them took those shouts of
“God is great” I heard.
The most important thing is to listen to the rhetoric and lies
in the videos. Notice there are very few Palestinians, very few Arabs speaking.
The Arab Community, like IVAW, like every other group of “victims” are being
used by the anti-war community to work us all up into a lather. But you can see
that for yourself.

We are terribly civil here in the Pacific NW, so it was me and my large Israeli flag in uneventful, solitary solidarity with 25-ish 'anti-violence' folks. Just doin' my part as a Christian to support Israel's right to defend itself against slaughter. Thanks for letting us know about these events

Well, we had a pro-Palestinian/anti-Zionist demonstration here in Dearborn this afternoon. This happens every once in a while whenever somebody other than Israel gets bombed.
It was quite well attended by Palestinian supporters (who in Dearborn are chiefly Lebanese).
So I made my presence known on the other side of the street. Which was not easy, since I was the only one over on that side.
I have to ask, where were my brothers and sisters who believe in the peace that the gospel of Christ brings? Where were my friends who support Israel's right to exist?
We cannot and must not be afraid to bring truth to the forefront.

Just wanted to add my take on the confronting of savages in S.F. If it was pandemonium elsewhere it was absolute anarchy and mob rule in S.F. The last such rally I attended the police managed to separate the two sides. Yesterday, they just swarmed over to our side, the inept police just standing idly by. Outraged, I asked several police why they are allowing it, and they replied that I'm obviously not a native San Franciscan, where everything goes and nothing can be.prevented. It was revolting to watch some of these barbarians intimidate some of the frail, elderly Pro-Israeli supporters. I almost got into a fight coming to the defense of one such lady. When I suggested rearranging the cowardly Pali's face, he made as though he was calling to the police. My wife eventually convinced me to leave as I was becoming more and more agitated and couldn't contain myself any longer. Being 6' 2" and 210, I'm no pushover, but suffering from chronic sciatica due to a back condition, I didn't want to chance being attacked by a wave of hyenas. Walking back to Market the main thoroughfare in S.F to catch a bus home, my wife noticed throngs of savages making there way up Market towards us. I noticed the presence of S.F Commandos and thought they were there to prevent the Pali's from disrupting the rush hour traffic.and otherwise causing mayhem throughout the city. Apparently they were there to contain any possible violence. I again approached several officers asking how they could permit this clearly illegal march to take place. They replied they were inept to do anything as the head dhimmi at City Hall, Gavin Newsome had given them free reign. Unbelievable...So basically an entire city was held hostage to a band of thugs, because the powers that be were intimidated into acquiescence. As it goes in S.F. so it goes the world over. Very scary shit, when even my habitually indifferent scientist-academic wife, finally admitted that my forebodings as to Stealth Jihad are in fact very real. Anyhow next time I'll be better prepared with my sign which would read, " Anti-Israel Jew Hating is none other than " The Swollen Envy of Pygmy Minds" ( Mark Twain). I think this curt saying says all that needs to be said.

Noticeable at these anti-Israel protests as compared with protests of earlier years was the vocal presence of local Arabs from Israel, the many kefiyehs and Palestinian flags, and the rowdiness of the young people and young adults. Evidently they feel more confident now than in previous years, or have moved out from under the council of prudence. Perhaps conditions are such that they are moving into phase II or III of a plan. The honking of passers-by to show support was much more frequent than in earlier years, and many of the drivers were Muslim, but more weren’t.
Anti-Israel sentiment is growing in Albuquerque in main part because it is growing throughout the world and the US, and has become socially acceptable. To most of the public, anti-Israel and anti-Jewish are synonyms. The bigotry has also been growing in part because the local “pro-Palestinian” groups have been active for years, patiently and successfully working to produce this sentiment in schools, the university, the media, local government and the public at large. Indeed, some synagogues and Jewish leaders have promoted this movement.

At the evening protest, two passers-by joined me with my lone pro-Israel sign, and we held up an Israeli flag and took the harrassment of the Arab young people together, which made us stronger, even later, when there were only two women. None of us knew each other, but the two supporters were both Messianic. Coincidence? To us, Messianics seem strange, but many have courage and conviction in this matter, that others lack.
Because I was the only Jew with a Pro-Israel sign at the anti-Israel protests, I got my picture taken and got interviewed three times. I doubt my statements were aired. My statements that Israel is right to attack Gaza, and if the Arabs of Gaza are suffering, they brought it on themselves by electing and supporting genocidal terrorist leaders, is socially unacceptable in polite gentile society. Indeed, it is unacceptable in polite Jewish society, but it is true.
At these protests I saw a stridency and rowdiness in the Arabs who showed up, that was not apparent in earlier protests. I saw that the majority of passers-by were either active supporters of their view, or non-committal. While we pep-rallied privately in the the JCC, with security, the public was turned a shade more against us, and we had no effective response.

The protest was arranged by the Atlanta International Center. They had a permit from 4-5:30pm to demonstrate in front of the Israeli consulate which is in midtown Atlanta. Car traffic was heavy the entire time, and there was a constant flow of people into the demonstration. Women were coming with their young children in strollers and older people wrapped in kefiyahs came and set up chairs.
Representatives from CAIR were there as well as the student movements of Students for Justice in Palestine at Georgia Tech and Emory Advocates for Justice in Palestine. At 5:30pm they made an announcement that they must leave the premises, so they marched into the street -- walking in the opposite flow of traffic -- shutting down the street entirely and establishing themselves about 1/4 mile away.
There were about 4 cops from the Atlanta police department ensuring people's safety: staying on the sidewalks and crossing the street. About a block away there were about a dozen police on motorcycles. The cops I talked to said they were there in case there was a counter protest. As I found out afterwards, there were also undercover, plain-clothes police officers around the entire time.
Local media were there as well and there was at least one local channel (NBC affiliate) which interviewed people for their 6pm broadcast.
I have no idea why there was no counter protest planned. I only found out about it through the Muslim Student Association at Georgia Tech the night before, so there's was no time to arrange anything.
There was a big press conference earlier in the day with the ambassador and the incident involving Cynthia McKinney. But, as far as I know, no one commented on the pro-hamas rally specifically.

Demonstrator burns policeman's cap as thousands try to storm Israeli embassy in London
An anti-Israel protester snatched a policeman's cap and set it alight during a demonstration in West London last night.
The man paraded the burning hat as thousands of demonstrators tried to reach Israel's embassy in Kensington.
Others protested in Cardiff, Birmingham, Halifax and Sheffield.
In London, some climbed the embassy gates and were restrained by police. Crowds chanted, 'Palestine must be free from the river to the sea.'

Gaza 'Collaborators' Murdered by Maayana Miski, INN
At least eight people were murdered in Gaza on Sunday after escaping prison. The eight were killed for allegedly helping Israel fight terrorism by providing information on local terrorist groups. The incident was reported by one of Yediot Acharonot's Arab correspondents.
The incident began when Gaza's main prison, located near the village of Sariya, was destroyed in an IAF strike. Several prisoners managed to escape the damaged building, among them many who had been accused of cooperating with Israel or convicted and sentenced to death for “collaboration”.
Upon hearing of the airstrike, terrorists and relatives of terrorists killed by the IDF rushed to the prison and caught several of the escaping inmates. Those caught were immediately killed. One of the victims was identified as Jamal Randour, who was convicted of giving Israel information leading to the assassination of Abed Abu-Yusuf el-Kuku, head of the Salah el-Din brigades.
Fatah issued a statement on Monday holding Hamas responsible for the deaths of Fatah-affiliated prisoners. The group called on Hamas to allow Fatah-affiliated prisoners who escaped to remain free.

After terming love as “un-Islamic”, the Darul Uloom Islamic seminary in Deoband has said that Muslilms wearing jeans is a gunah (sin).
The seminary recently issued a fatwa (religious decree) against the wearing of jeans and transplanting and dyeing of hair in black.
These fatwas have been issued in response to three different queries, according to the Darul Uloom's Darul Ifta (department of fatwa). In response to a query on wearing of jeans by women, especially in cold countries in Western Europe, the seminary has made it clear that “jeans pants and shirts are against the shariat (Islamic rules)”. “The physical structure (curves) of the body is reflected if one puts on a jeans. Wearing them by a woman is a sin”, the fatwa said adding that it should not be put on by the menfolk also. “It is barred for men as well. Women, who want to look as men, are cursed”, the fatwa went on to say.

On a query on dyeing one’s hair in black, the fatwa said that any other colour other than black is permissible. “Use of black hair dye is un-Islamic”, it said.

Ambassador Jeremy Issacharoff (Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy) and Brigadier General in Reserve Relik Shafir of the Israeli Air Force, briefed bloggers and broadcasters on the latest developments regarding Israel's response to continued rocket and mortar fire from Gaza.
Much discussion of what precipitated this military option - the tens of thousands of rockets fired into Southern Israel, with intense escalation last week.
"Israeli wanted to exhaust the diplomatic option..... military option was the last resort. Hamas always chooses the military option first."
"Hamas wanted to escalate the conflict" to undermine Fatah ....they felt much more isolated. This puts them center stage

This is a good sign. Will it offset the tsunami of antisemitic world press reports? Of course not but it is a signal that Israel finally recognizes the overwhelming impact of a Jew hating press. The Israeli army announced yesterday the creation of its own YouTube channel, through which it will disseminate footage of precision bombing operations in the Gaza Strip, as well as aid distribution and other footage of interest to the international community.

Since the beginning of the Gaza air strikes, Israeli politicians have been appearing regularly on the largest international news networks to defend the IDF. Leibovich's YouTube initiative is another piece of the new media offensive.

I just got an email indicating that because YouTube has removed the IDF's most popular videos, the IDF spokesperson's office has opened an account at LiveLeak instead.

This was apparently too much for YouTube, which moments ago removed several videos from the IDF’s channel, including the most-watched video, which showed a group of Hamas goons being blown up in an air strike as they loaded Katyusha missiles onto a truck. The point of such footage, as if it needed to be said, is not to revel in violence — it is to show the legitimacy of Israeli self-defense.
The rank double-standard that YouTube has applied to Israel is disturbing. YouTube hosts all manner of similar footage — much of it far more gory than the grainy infrared images posted by the IDF — of U.S. air strikes. Why is YouTube capitulating to those who do not wish for Israel to be able to tell its side of the story?
Why am I not surprised?

There were over 5,000 nomination for us to sort through and visit, and it was a very difficult task. When the process pushed the potential voting dates too close to Christmas we made the decision to hold off voting until after the New Year.
From all of the nominations we have selected nearly 500 finalists in 48 categories. The full list of finalists is here:
Finalist badges will be available Wednesday. Voting is scheduled to begin January 5.

Looks Like Mega NAILED it in the comments section ................... he has the situation in Israel down to a T. I want Mega to be wrong, but he's not. It's .......... perfect.
Is it just me, or does it look like Israel is starting to fall back on hitting empty buildings, sports stadiums, etc.? Seems like we've been down this road before in 2006.
The pattern:
1) Israel starts out with an aggressive military response to the terrorists - the goals are somewhat fuzzy, but it does feel cathartic
2) The terrorists go to ground quickly after taking a minor hit to key forces and weaponry
3) The Arabs riot in the streets of Europe and across the middle east
4) Western govts get nervous and turn the screws on Israel to pull back and negotiate and make peace
5) The media reports it as a humanitarian tragedy story, complete with the pathetic pictures of Palestinian kids, leading to massive pressure on Israel to call it quits
6) Israel gets nervous and starts doing non-strategic things like flattening empty buildings, to avoid civilian casualties, while trying to figure out what to do next in the face of strong and (to them) unexpected international condemnation
7) The enemy, seeing that Israel has no real war plan, starts claiming victory, i.e. "survival" in the face of the onslaught of the world's 4th largest army blah blah blah, and uses some of its mostly-untouched forces and armaments, which were, of course, hidden beyond the IDF's reach
8) Israel calls it off and tells its citizens it won. Everyone knows otherwise.We seem to be roughly at stage 6 right now.
The key ingredient in this repetitive mobius strip of failure is the inability of Israel's government to correctly anticipate the global pressure it will be under to call it off before a successful conclusion. Israel keeps expecting the world to be sympathetic and supportive. Israel is delusional.
Sorry to take the wind out of the sails of anyone who's pumped up and thinking Israel is on the way to a grand victory. I see Lebanon II unfolding, rapidly.

CAIR Video: U.S. Must Act to Save Gaza, Restore Cease-Fire
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 12/29/08) The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today issued a statement calling on the Bush administration to take concrete actions to restore the flow of humanitarian aid to the civilian population in the Gaza Strip and to help reinstate the cease-fire that an Israeli newspaper admits was “unilaterally violated” by Israel.
CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad read the statement this morning during a news conference, which aired live on C-SPAN, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Taliban militants are beheading and burning their way through Pakistan's picturesque Swat Valley, and residents say the insurgents now control most of the mountainous region outside the lawless tribal areas where jihadists thrive.
The deteriorating situation in the former tourist haven comes despite an army offensive that began in 2007 and an attempted peace deal. It is especially worrisome to Pakistani officials because the valley lies away from the areas where al-Qaida and Taliban militants have traditionally operated and where the military is staging a separate offensive.
"You can't imagine how bad it is," said Muzaffar ul-Mulk, a federal lawmaker whose home in Swat was attacked by bomb-toting assailants in mid-December, weeks after he left. "It's worse day by day."
The Taliban activity in northwest Pakistan also comes as the country shifts forces east to the Indian border because of tensions over last month's terrorist attacks in Mumbai, potentially giving insurgents more space to maneuver along the Afghan frontier.
Militants began preying on Swat's lush mountain ranges about two years ago, and it is now too dangerous for foreign and Pakistani journalists to visit. Interviews with residents, lawmakers and officials who have fled the region paint a dire picture.
A suicide blast killed 40 people Sunday at a polling station in Buner, an area bordering Swat that had been relatively peaceful. The attack underscored fears that even so-called "settled" regions presumptively under government control are increasingly unsafe.

NORWAY: Oslo: Anti-Israel protest turns violent
...........organized by various left wing organizations, about 100 protesters tried to break through police barricades in order to reach the Israeli embassy, throwing stones and flaming objects at the police. Police shot back with tear gas. Nine protesters were arrested, including four 16-year old boys.
Video clips of the rioting protesters are available at VG (where you can hear the protesters shouting 'allah akbar') and TV2 Nyhetene. I tried uploading these clips, but wasn't successful.
Naser Fuad (27), one of the protesters doesn't understand why the police behaved as they did towards him and his friends. One of his friends was arrested. Fuad thinks this friends acted calmly and peacefully.
"I don't understand the aggressive treatment from the police. Against some it's certainly right but not against all," he told Aftenposten.no.
Fuad says that most protesters were acting peacefully, but that some threw stones at the police. He thinks this is 'a natural reaction to what Israel's doing'.
About the demonstration he said that "it's the least we could do to show the world that we have a problem with Israel and Israel's acts."
Several police agents and protesters were injured.

- Hamas tore up the understandings negotiated with Egypt and announced with violence that the 'hudna' , period of calm or cease fire was over;
- The people of Gaza are not the enemy, but rather the extremist Hamas leadership seeking to replace the civil order with a Taliban like tyranny;
- Israel security services briefings to the cabinet had indicated that Gazans do not understand the logic of Hamas leadership in fostering the violence;
- Providing open border crossings and delivery of food and other humanitarian aid demonstrates that Israel does not target Gaza civilians;
- Hamas's media stretgy is to focus on 'spin' that the IDF operations in Gaza is killing 9 civilians for each Hams security cadre and that tghere is no way of verfying the information giving control;
- Israel's media strategy is to focus on Hamas's abrogation of the 'understandings', that Israel is targeting extremist Haams leadership and its military machine and creating a new reality of security for its citizens in the South;
- The IDF attacks over the past three days have demonstrated the ability to target the Hamas military machine and security apparatus, further weakening it;
- The IDF operations has "created a new reality and security in the South that Israeli ccitizensin the South will not have to live with the daily fear of loss of life;"
- The Arab world is divided and the Egyptians Jordanians and Saudis do not understand the objectives of Hamas perpetrating this eruption of violence and they are concerned about Hamas and Hezbollah have allied themselves as proxies of Iran;
- Iran's 'fingerprints' are all over the longer range missiles and mortars and other weaponry;
- Hamas has copied Hezbollah vis a vis the fortification of weapons and goods smuggling tunnels hit hard yesterday by the IAF;
There were a number of questions about the impact on the impact of the Gaza operation on the upcoming general Knesset election, progress in Palestinian security arrangements and economic conditionhs in the West Bank, status of indirect talks with Syria, possible talks with Lebanon, diplomatic sanctions against Iran's nuclear programs. Regev made note that all of their dealings with the US were with the Bush Administration and noted that the President-elect Obama reinforced that position.

CAIR FIERCELY OUT TO KILL FREEDOM OF SPEECH: TARGET ART HALL, PUBLISHER

As we gather to celebrate the birth of Christ from a religious perspective, it is also worth pausing to consider what structure civilization would have attained, had he not come.
When large groups of people live together in close proximity, there must exist a code of conduct separate from the law, which establishes how we interact with each other. Are we polite, or are we rude? Are we refined, or are we vulgar? Are we truthful, or do we lie? Do we tip the waitress, or do we stiff her? Are we honest, or do we steal? Are we respectful of other people’s things, or do we abuse them? Are we true to our spouse, or do we cheat?
A nation of upright citizens thrives; a nation of vulgar, lying, dishonest cheats, declines.
I said it is important to think about it because things of value can slip away in the night if they are not guarded. Currently the America we love is facing two significant threats, one internal, the other both internal and external.
The internal threat is from a tiny, well-placed minority of antichristians who stay up nights crafting schemes to convince us, against all historical evidence, that we are not a Christian nation, and that our biblical rulebook no longer has any place in society.

The internal-external threat is like no other we have ever faced. It is from Islam. While Christianity preaches peace, the Quran preaches conquest by force of arms. Douglas Feith, undersecretary of defense for policy from July 2001 to August 2005, states:

Christ, on the other hand, was perfectly content to leave world affairs to people, and therefore this antidemocratic sentiment does not exist in Christian countries like America.
Geert Wilders, a Dutch politician, writes of a growing threat to his native Holland by immigrants from Muslim countries who do not share Western values. He desires to end Muslim immigration to the Netherlands, and warns the West of the need to diligently defend our principles.
On a recent trip to Europe, I spent numerous hours discussing the Muslim problem with an Austrian who travels extensively throughout Europe. He echoed Wilders fears, predicting widespread civil turmoil in many of Europe’s cities in the not-to-distant future.
In order to chart a course for the future, we must first remember who we were, review who we are now, and consider the national structure we want to bequeath to our children and grandchildren. We were and are both a democratic and Christian nation in our fundamental structure. If we desire for America to remain thus, we must first recognize the current threats, and then develop the will to stand against those who are undermining them, those who detest what we cherish.

Authorities are investigating after someone threw a Molotov cocktail at a North Side synagogue early Monday on Lake Shore Drive. No one was hurt.
Police were notified at 1:59 a.m of a fire at the Temple Sholom of Chicago synagogue, on the 3400 block of North Lake Shore Drive, according to a Town Hall District police captain.
When police and Chicago Fire Department personnel arrived they found a small fire on the wall in a fenced-in playground area, according to the captain, who said that someone threw a bottle with a rag soaked in an unidentified liquid accelerant stuffed in it towards the building.

A video on Hamas TV this morning blended pictures of Hamas fighters shooting at Israel with pictures of injured Israelis and medical evacuation scenes.
In addition, the visuals include pictures of skulls dripping with blood, captioned: "Let them taste violent death".

1. Eighty missiles have been fired by Hamas into Israel since this morning. A missile hit a car in the center of Ashdod. Two young women were critically injured, and three others wounded. A long range missile fell in Ashkelon, killing one and injuring 9. Two of those injured are Arabs, a Palestinian construction worker from Hebron, and a Bedouin from Rahat. They were taken to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon. "Rockets don't distinguish between blood and blood," said the Hebron man's relative. The doctor caring for them is Jewish. The hospital has moved it's patients underground and evacuated all but the most seriously ill patients, fearing further attacks. A Palestinian woman from Gaza, a cancer patient, cared for in Israel, is now well enough to go home, but she can't because Gaza's gates are closed. Hamas didn't have long range missiles until Israeli politicians (the same ones who are now going to war) agreed to the disengagement and the ceasefire. How many soldiers and citizens will now die for these critical misjudgments?
2. A soldier waiting in his tank on the border of Gaza, ready to roll in: "We came from the North. We are happy to be here to defend our people in the South."
3. Ashkelon's streets are empty tonight. Children in the affected areas will not be returning to school.
4. A Bar Mitzvah party in Sderot was celebrating on the roof of a building when a kassam flew right over their heads, crashing into the building next door. The celebrants continued to rejoice. The boy read his haftorah. Only afterwards, will he be going up North for a vacation. The people of Sderot are filled with the different spirit. They are willing to suffer the reprisals of the Hamas if only the IDF does it job and makes their lives safer in the future. Unlike other towns under fire, their streets are full.
5. The despicable demonstrations in London talking about a "holocaust" in Gaza show once again it has become Londonstan. I pity the Brits.
6. Israeli television continues to do its best for our enemies, interviewing a doctor from the hospital in Gaza about shortages and an influx of patients. Let him complain to his government, who instead of medical supplies, bought rockets to log at innocent civilians across the border. The bombing of Dresden also killed many people. Did the Allies broadcast pictures and interview Nazi doctors to demoralize their soldiers and civilians from fighting? The people responsible for editing the news should be fired.

TEHRAN (Reuters) - A group of Iranian hard-line clerics is signing up volunteers to fight in the Gaza Strip in response to Israel's air strikes that have killed at least 300 Palestinians, a news agency reported on Monday.
"From Monday the Combatant Clergy Society has activated its website www.rohaniatmobarez.com for a week to register volunteers to fight against the Zionist regime (Israel) in either the military, financial or propaganda fields," the semi-official Fars news agency said.
Israel patrols the coastal waters around Gaza and has declared areas around the enclave a "closed military zone."
The hard-line Iranian group, which is headed by some leading clergy, says it has no affiliation with the government and was formed shortly after Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution....
Fars said the hard-line group provided volunteers with a registration document called "Registration form for dispatching volunteers to Gaza." It said more than 1,100 people so far had registered for military service against Israel.
Khamenei said on Sunday that whoever was killed in the fight to defend Palestinians was "considered a martyr."
Iran will send its first ship carrying aid to the Gaza Strip on Monday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi said.
"Iran has dispatched its first plane load of aid, including medicine, to Gaza on Sunday. The second cargo is on the verge of being dispatched," Qashqavi told reporters on Monday. "The first aircraft arrived in Egypt last night."...

- Israeli population centers in southern Israel have been the target of over 4,000 rockets, as well as thousands of mortar shells, fired by Hamas and other organizations since 2001. Rocket attacks increased by 500 percent after Israel withdrew completely from the Gaza Strip in August 2005. During an informal six-month lull, some 215 rockets were launched at Israel.
- The charge that Israel uses disproportionate force keeps resurfacing whenever it has to defend its citizens from non-state terrorist organizations and the rocket attacks they perpetrate. From a purely legal perspective, Israel's current military actions in Gaza are on solid ground. According to international law, Israel is not required to calibrate its use of force precisely according to the size and range of the weaponry used against it.
- Ibrahim Barzak and Amy Teibel wrote for the Associated Press on December 28 that most of the 230 Palestinians who were reportedly killed were "security forces," and Palestinian officials said "at least 15 civilians were among the dead." The numbers reported indicate that there was no clear intent to inflict disproportionate collateral civilian casualties. What is critical from the standpoint of international law is that if the attempt has been made "to minimize civilian damage, then even a strike that causes large amounts of damage - but is directed at a target with very large military value - would be lawful."
- Luis Moreno-Orampo, the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, explained that international humanitarian law and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court "permit belligerents to carry out proportionate attacks against military objectives, even when it is known that some civilian deaths or injuries will occur." The attack becomes a war crime when it is directed against civilians (which is precisely what Hamas does).
- After 9/11, when the Western alliance united to collectively topple the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, no one compared Afghan casualties in 2001 to the actual numbers that died from al-Qaeda's attack. There clearly is no international expectation that military losses in war should be on a one-to-one basis. To expect Israel to hold back in its use of decisive force against legitimate military targets in Gaza is to condemn it to a long war of attrition with Hamas.
Israel is currently benefiting from a limited degree of understanding in international diplomatic and media circles for launching a major military operation against Hamas on December 27. Yet there are significant international voices that are prepared to argue that Israel is using disproportionate force in its struggle against Hamas.
Israeli Population Centers Under Rocket Attack
There are good reasons why initial criticism of Israel has been muted. After all, Israeli population centers in southern Israel have been the target of over 4,000 rockets, as well as thousands of mortar shells, fired by Hamas and other organizations since 2001.1 The majority of those attacks were launched after Israel withdrew completely from the Gaza Strip in August 2005. Indeed, rocket attacks increased by 500 percent (from 179 to 946) from 2005 to 2006.
Moreover, lately Hamas has been extending the range of its striking capability even further with new rockets supplied by Iran. Hamas used a 20.4-kilometer-range Grad/Katyusha for the first time on March 28, 2006, bringing the Israeli city of Ashkelon into range of its rockets for the first time. That change increased the number of Israelis under threat from 200,000 to half a million.2 Moreover, on December 21, 2008, Yuval Diskin, Head of the Israel Security Agency, informed the Israeli government that Hamas had acquired rockets that could reach Ashdod, Kiryat Gat, and even the outskirts of Beersheba.3 The first Grad/Katyusha strike on Ashdod, in fact, took place on December 28. There had been no formal cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, but only an informal six-month tahadiya (lull), during which 215 rockets were launched at Israel.4 On December 21, Hamas unilaterally announced that the tahadiya had ended.

Berlin - Germany on Monday defended Israel's military action in Gaza, saying it was taken to protect the country's civilian population from missile attacks by Palestinian militants.
The decision by the radical Hamas movement to end a six-month truce with Israel and continue firing rockets at the Jewish state was to blame for the crisis, government spokesman Thomas Steg said.
'It is the legitimate right of Israel to protect its civilian population and to defend its territory,' Steg told a press briefing in Berlin.
He called on Hamas to cease firing Kassem rockets and mortar shells at Israeli towns and villages immediately so that Israel can end its military operation.

This may well be Livni's attempt to snatch victory from the hands of likud. But I do not think they can pull that off. You can't fake integrity and courage for terribly long. Olmerde and company do not have the spine, the fortitude, the soul to fight for the Jewish people. She was hurt by Arab-thrown rocks north-east of Hevron.
Shortly before that, a 1-year-old baby boy was lightly wounded by glass shards in a similar stoning attack. He was taken to Kiryat Arba for treatment.
Following the two injuries, the Jewish residents were further penalized when the army ordered closed the road between Hevron and Gush Etzion.

"It might seem completely absurd," Lobel said. "But we have the privilege to be doctors. Our medical ethics do not distinguish between patients. We treat whoever needs to be treated."
A Gaza woman, whose two-month-old granddaughter was being treated for an unidentified ailment, wept when asked how she was coping. She said she was fortunate her granddaughter was getting the best medical treatment but was worried about her daughter and other grandchildren in Gaza City. She said some of their neighbors were among the more than 280 people killed in the Israeli airstrikes.
"I am very sad and hurt," she said, in Arabic. "We want peace, not war."
She refused to identify herself or have her picture taken, for fear of retribution if her presence in Israel was discovered in Gaza.

That includes the landing of a rocket on the border between Beer Tuvia and Gan Yavneh, east of Ashdod, the furthest landing away from Gaza.
The aid will enter via the Karni and Kerem Shalom commercial crossings. Gas for cooking and fuel for Gaza's power plant will be transferred via the Nahal-Oz crossing.

On the second day of deadly Israeli air strikes in the Gaza Strip, "Palestinians" in Gaza sent a smattering of rockets and mortar fire into Israel -- some reaching targets deeper inside the country than ever before.

Angry protests have been held outside the Israeli embassy in London, as the UK government urged an "immediate halt to all violence" in Gaza.
Extra police had to be called to the embassy to control the demonstrators.
Scotland Yard estimated that 700 people took part in the protest and said three people were arrested on suspicion of committing public order offences.
Foreign Secretary David Miliband has called for an urgent ceasefire after Israeli airstrikes left hundreds dead.

Hizbullah Vows Revenge on Gaza
Hizbullah has vowed to attack Israel in the north in retaliation for the IDF military operation against Hamas terrorists in Gaza.Terrorist chief Hassan Nasrallah issued a statement on Hizbullah's Al-Manar television station Sunday, vowing that "northern Israel will burn as Gaza is burning." Nasrallah rarely appears in person; he speaks via a video hook-up from his hideout due to fears of assassination by Israeli agents, following the 2006 Second Lebanon War.
Nasrallah should have been removed from the planet in the war on Israel 2006.
Hizbullah officials were quoted in a number of Arabic-language publications on Saturday warning that they would not permit Israel to attack Gaza without retaliating.
Last week seven Katyusha rockets were discovered primed and ready for launching in southern Lebanon, located near the northern border of Israel. All seven were aimed at targets in the Jewish State.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a religious decree to Muslims around the world on Sunday, ordering them to defend "Palestinians" against Israel's attacks on Gaza, state television said.
"All Palestinian combatants and all the Islamic world's pious people are obliged to defend the defenseless women, children and people in Gaza in any way possible. Whoever is killed in this legitimate defense is considered a martyr," state television quoted Khamenei as saying in a statement outlining the fatwa.
Khamenei also criticized some Arab governments for their "encouraging silence" towards the Israel's raids on Gaza. "The Zionist regime must by held accountable by Islamic governments. The heads of this regime must be held personally accountable for these crimes and the ongoing siege," the religious leader said.
Accordingly, a state TV report late Saturday quoted President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as saying Iran will stand by the "Palestinians". He also tried to garner greater support for the "Palestinians" by waging an informal PR campaign against Israel among Arab states.

(IsraelNN.com) IAF warplanes flew over Lebanon Sunday following a vow by Hizbullah terrorist chief Hassan Nasrallah to attack northern Israeli communities in retaliation for the IDF military operation against terrorists in Gaza.
According to Lebanese Army officials, four IAF aircraft were spotted flying in southern Lebanese air space. The aircraft, which appeared to be combat planes, remained in the Lebanese skies for more than an hour.
JEWISH GENOCIDE WATCH: CAIR APOPLECTIC WITH JEW HATRED
Obama has been awfully quiet and I am glad. CAIR thinks he is weak and can be intimidated into aligning himself with the jihad. This is the line in the sand, is it not? You can run, you can hide ...... but at some point you must choose between good and evil.
CAIR uses Orwellian terms like peace and justice. Show me one Islamic country that traffics in peace and justice.
CAIR Condemns Israeli 'Massacre' in Gaza
Obama urged to speak 'in favor of peace and justice for all parties'(WASHINGTON, D.C., 12/27/08) - A prominent national Islamic civil rights and advocacy group today condemned Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip that left more than 200 people dead and called the death toll a "massacre carried out using U.S. taxpayer-funded weapons." More than 700 people, including women and children, were injured in the attacks.The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said in a statement:"Despite the public 'green light' given to the Israeli military by the Bush administration, American Muslims join our fellow citizens who respect international law and the sanctity of human life in repudiating this massacre carried out using U.S. taxpayer-funded weapons."It must be clear by now that the only future offered to the Palestinian people by the outgoing administration was one of perpetual subjugation and humiliation at the hands of the Israeli occupiers. Unfortunately, our nation's timid response to this tragic episode will only serve to fuel anti-American sentiments in the Muslim world."We therefore call on President-elect Obama to demonstrate his commitment to change our nation's current one-sided Mideast policy by speaking out now in favor of peace and justice for all parties to this decades-long conflict."We also call on world leaders to take direct action to end Israel's counterproductive and wildly disproportionate attacks and to end the humanitarian siege of Gaza, which led to the recent breakdown of the ceasefire."CAIR noted that the European Union (EU), Russia, the UN Secretary-General, the Arab League, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), and other international bodies are all urging Israel to end it attacks.Middle East envoy Tony Blair deplored the "tragic of loss of life," while French President Nicolas Sarkozy condemned Israel's "disproportionate use of force."EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said the Israeli attacks were "inflicting an unacceptable toll on Palestinian civilians and will only worsen the humanitarian crisis as well as complicate the search for a peaceful solution."CAIR, America's largest Islamic civil liberties group, has 35 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

THE REAL STORY ISRAEL'S COUNTER ATTACK IN GAZA
First, pray for the brave Jewish fighters battling the jihad in Gaza. We have many fronts in this ugly war. Every news organization that has ignored the relentless rocket fire in to Israel is aflame with antisemitic coverage of Israel's counter attack.
The international communitay yawned while Hamas rained rockets and mortars down on defenseless Jews in Israel. During World War II, it was Europe that furiously "cleansed" Europe of its Jews, now we have the entire world attempting to rid the world of the Jews. The damn cowards of the UN Security Council members are meeting to discuss the crisis.

UN blasts Israel over Gaza massacre
UN chief calls for immediate halt of violence in Gaza, southern Israel (hat tip Michael)
The emergency meeting was called at the request of Libya, the only Arab member of the council,
the AFP news agency said.
"Our main objective is an immediate ceasefire," Libya's deputy ambassador to the UN, Ibrahim Dabbashi, told the agency.
Just before the Security Council gathered, Israel's ambassador to the UN, Gabriela Shalev, repeated Israel's stance that it was taking action to "protect its citizens from further terrorist attacks". (more here)

CRAWFORD, Texas (AFP) — Saudi King Abdullah told US President George W. Bush by telephone on Saturday that major countries must take action to halt Israel's attacks on Gaza, the Saudi state news agency SPA reported....
But SPA reported that King Abdullah had discussed "the Israeli aggression against Gaza" and the "implications of continuing Israel's policies of blockade, occupation and torture against the Palestinian people all over the Occupied Territories."
The king also called for "the major countries to shoulder their responsibilities to stop this Israeli attack and save the lives of the innocent and remaining infrastructure in the Palestinian territories."
Abdullah made the call after a meeting in Riyadh with Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas.
As far as the Saudis go, listen, let's chip in and send Abdul-lah a couple of little camel jockeys (Hillary can be helpful with that) and I am sure we won't see hide nor hair of him for at least a week.
America should stay out of it. We have no right to attempt to stop free people from defending their people and their land.

You know, I'm looking through the news this morning on yahoo, goggle, Fox, CBS, ABC, etc. and seeing nothing but HUGE headlines about "thousands protest Gaza attacks", Gaza death toll mounts, Gaza injuries massive, the "deadliest ever" attack on Gaza, a second day of Israeli attacks on Gaza, photos of Gaza carnage.
I went back to see how much news coverage had been given to why Israel has gone on the offensive and about the best I could find is "US urges Hamas to halt bombing of Israel". NO pictures of the damage or carnage caused by the Hamas rockets and missiles, NO demonstrations against Hamas, NO global outcry, NOTHING . . . it makes me sick.
UPDATE: WHERE IS THE WORLDWIDE OUTRAGE? Hamas will not allow the wounded medical treatment. Where is the vile jihad loving media and dhimmis at the UNSC on this? LIARS. JEW HATERS.
Hamas 'bars injured leaving Gaza'
Egypt says the Hamas militant group, which controls Gaza, is preventing hundreds of wounded Palestinians from leaving for treatment in Egypt. Cairo says dozens of empty ambulances are at the Rafah crossing - the only one to Gaza which avoids Israel.
