UN vote:Dhimmi PM Rudd breaks with Howard on Israel
Very, very bad all of it. I've railed against the election of the socialist dhimmi Rudd. I knew he was an evil coward, I blogged his win here Nov '07: Ugh .... Aussie Jihad Victory
The implications of this are enormous. Open season.
One by one, the few allies of Israel are getting Obama's message.
UN vote: Rudd breaks with Howard on Israel hat tip Sonia
AUSTRALIA has switched its position to vote against Israel on two resolutions at the United Nations, ending the Howard government's unswerving alignment with the United States and raising concern from the Jewish community.
The move also signals to the incoming Obama administration that the Rudd Government plans to take a different approach to the Howard government on the international stage.
In the weekend vote in New York, Australia supported a resolution calling on Israel to stop establishing settlements in the Palestinian territories and a resolution calling for the Geneva Conventions to apply in the Palestinian territories.
The resolutions on the Middle East peace process are held annually and the Howard government had backed both from 1996 to 2002 but in 2003 began to vote against or abstain. It was a move that aligned Australia with only the US, Israel, the US Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau and Micronesia and put the country at odds with Britain, Canada, New Zealand and France.
Australian officials told the UN the Government had changed its position because it supported a two-state resolution of the conflict to deliver a secure Israel living beside a viable Palestinian state and that Australia believed both sides should abide by their obligations under the Road Map for Peace.
Australia said it was concerned activity in the disputed settlements undermined confidence in the negotiations. It was among 161 countries that supported both resolutions, with two abstaining and six against.

This is extremely disheartening. Australia is my backup plan when all that's left of the republic is up a certain body of water without a certain implement. Come on, guys, he that endures till the end shall be saved, not he that endures until Israel tries to get some of their homeland back. Disgusting.

Yes, I've been considering Australia, as well.
It's getting pretty scary out there!

ah, the u.n., that pillar of tolerance and light.
perennial source of love for israel and all things jewish.
the u.n., the place where all nations bask in the warm glow of truth.
the u.n.,epitome of anti-semitic distortion, and filthy lies in the guise of veracity.

Canary in the coalmine...
This is the Neville Chamberlain stage. The world is weary of the middle east conflict and is looking for the easy way out. With Obama-the-marxist coming into power it looks like Israel is now fair game. How's that Obama vote looking to you 78%? Oh, who am I fooling. You don't care. You want it all to go away too. Out of sight, out of mine.
But just like the PROBLEM in the 30s was a fascist. The PROBLEM today is fascists...isslamofascists.
And forget about the Aussies....not only did they elect this socialist coward, but they have started NATIONAL internet filtering! Folks, this is the STATE firing an opening salvo in restricting freedom. How long until it comes to America? Ooops, I mean AmeriKa. Or is it: AmiriKa?
What a joke. Obama is going to get us into World War III....moscow on the move...even the chinese are running through s. America now.
Thanks obamabots....not.
btw, I'm not even Jewish but I have more fight than ANY Jew that I know.
They've changed "never again" to, "oy, whatever."
Let's roll.

F**k the UN. I certainly do not have a problem with Israel simply ignoring any resolution. Hell, if Saddam Hussein can ignore them aplenty, why can't Israel.
UN resolutions do not lend any credibility.

KRudd has the spine of a squid and employs the same tactic when he feels threatened: he spills ink and BS.
Our immediate problem here Down Under is this:
KRudd’s Brain Police Wants Internet Filter to Block 10,000-plus “Unwanted” Sites
The Totalitarian Nightmares of KRuddistan
Stop Internet Censorship!
Krudds brain-police will make filters mandatory for all Australians!

I am about to go to work (Uk), but have just read Melanies article:
http://www.spectator.co.uk/melaniephillips/2768096/another-banana-moment.thtml
With his remarks about the Israeli settlements, Foreign Secretary David Miliband (pictured eating an ice-cream in Damascus) has signalled a sharp deterioration in relations between Britain and Israel. Miliband has urged enforcement of an EU boycott of produce from Israeli settlements in the West Bank, settlements he has called ‘illegal’.
I asked the Foreign Office for the legal basis of its opinion that the settlements were illegal. It replied that it was the Geneva Convention, which forbade the movement of a population into occupied territory. I asked whether it was basing this on a ruling by any particular body or whether this was merely its own reading of the Geneva Convention. Oh, everyone accepts this is what the Geneva Convention means, came the breezy reply. I then asked what was its legal definition of the ‘occupied territories’. ‘As defined by UN resolutions – which everyone accepts’— came the even breezier reply.
etc

Australia voted against two points only at the UN.
Jewish Australians and other supporters of Israel, are furious all the same, as this country, both the left and right have always supported Israel.
This guy Kev, Rudd the dud and the most popular of all his nick names Kev 747 ( on account of the fact, he holds the record for being the most travelled PM in the shortest time)hopefully will only be a one term PM.
Don't let that put you off this beautiful country

Let me say too. This decision was made PRIOR to your election, so as much I would like to think it is Obama's fault............I can't

Australia still is my backup plan, but I don't intend to have to use it.
exDemocrat:
I agree with you but with a single exception. The canary in the mine analogy applies, but we're not at Nevil Chamberlain stage. The war is almost over (in Iraq anyway), and we're at the Clement Atley stage of things. Along comes Barry to "Win the Peace" and usher in the socialist state. Also, I'm stealing that analogy :) But just for a second.
