UPDATE: '10-15 Israelis held in Chabad House and Mumbai hotel'
UPDATE: (Video) Part of the Muslim's plan was to kidnap the Jews
VIDEO - There is growing concern Thursday evening that the Israelis who were taken hostage by terrorists who stormed the Chabad center in Mumbai, India have been killed, this after alarming information was relayed to Israel's senior-most officials. However, there has been no definite word of their fate.
At around 4:30 am Thursday four terrorists took advantage of the fact that local security forces were operating in several locations throughout Mumbai and seized the Chabad center in the city.
Keep telling us this is not a religious war. Keep telling us that Islamic anti-semitism is a figment of Bostom's imagination. Keep telling us this is not about good and evil. I wonder if the UN is going to strongly condemn the Rabbi's family for being such a desirable target.
Is reporting this story insulting to Islam and in violation of the UN resolution against "defaming Islam"?
Chabad's website reported Wednesday night that the organization's emissary to India and his wife Rivka were missing. The couple has a two-year-old child. According to the report, one of Holtzberg's friends received an email from the rabbi at around 11:30 pm (local time). Israeli Consulate was in touch with Holtzberg, but the line was cut in middle of the conversation.
Did the Rabbi have a UZI and if not, why not? For every Jew, a 22.

UPDATE 11:17pm Please see below for a communique from Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the terror attack in Mumbai.
Israel's Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni spoke today (Thursday, 27 November 2008) with Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Kumar Mukherjee. Foreign Minister Livni condemned the violent attacks in Mumbai and was briefed by Foreign Minister Mukherjee on the current situation. Foreign Minister Livni offered the Indian government any assistance it might require to cope with the situation and its aftermath.
Foreign Minister Livni also requested the assistance of Foreign Minister Mukherjee, and the assistance of his Ministry, in the communication of any relevant information regarding developments in Mumbai to the Israeli authorities and assistance in the evacuation of Israelis from the terrorist attack sites if required.
"Israel, India and the rest of the free world are positioned in the forefront of the battle against terrorism and extremists. Unfortunately, we were harshly reminded of this once again yesterday. The struggle against terror must be a communal struggle, and compels us to improve our cooperation on this front. Israel is ready to assist India in any way possible." ***

friends:
if we prove capable of learning anything these past years, we shall have learned that the authorities are incapable of protecting us from this kind of violence.
each person on this planet should be armed with firearms and ammunition sufficient to protect himself and his family. each person should be familiar with his weapons, and proficient in its use. each person should be willing to kill to protect his own life and the lives of his friends, loved ones, community members and fellow citizens.
yet those same "authorities" do not trust us with our own weapons, nor do they trust us to be discrete and use them only when strictuly necessary. some muncipalities, notoriously new york city, new york, the focus of the most destructive islamic jihadist terrorist attacks in our country, deny their own citizens the basic and fundamental right of self defense: they do not trust their own citizens to protect themselves.
they prohibit the ownership of weapons and the possession of the same within those muncipalities.
yet i venture to say that every mayor in such a city, and i would expect this to hold true of mayor bloomberg of new york city, (who has sued private citizens in other states to try and prevent honest law abiding citizens in new york from legally obtaining firearms, ... , i would venture to say the good mayor is protected 24/7 by an extremely armed detachment of the new york police department.
i would ask mayor bloomberg these four questions were i a new yorker.
1.)mayor, are you protected by an armed guard, armed with a firearm?
2.)mayor, is this because you deem your life worth protecting, for whatever reason, private or public?
3.)mayor, do i not have the same basic right of existence that you have, the same inherent right to preserve my existence?
4.)what is there about my life which is not as worthy of preservation as is your life, by my use of a firearm as distinguished from the preservation of your life by a police firearm?
if that son of a bitch of a mayor were not able to answer those questions to my satisfaction as a new york mayor, i would vote his ass out of office.
i do not know if you agree or disagree with me. but i think i can say something with a relative degree of self assurance. if you had occasion to ask any of the 100 plus people who were shot and killed in bombay india this evening, just after the shooting started and before their deaths, if they thought whether or not their lives were worthy of their protection by a firearm in each's possession, my feeling is they would have answered nearly in unison, yes!! yes, by damn!!
i do not know rabbi gabriel holtzberg's personal views on violence as a means of protecting one's spiritual and physical self. i believe, however, that the good rabbi if pressed on the matter, might have allowed as the imperitives of a situation such as confronted him this evening, when his child and wife were captured by murderious islamic thugs, would be such as would justify the taking of another life to preserve the lives of one's family, and to prevent the murders of employees under one's charge. i wonder how the rabbi must have felt when he confronted a situation in which he was unable to preserve either himself or his loved ones, or the continuation of his family and his posterity.
i think even rabbi holtzberg might have allowed, that his life was at least as important to preserve by the use of a firearm as mayor bloomberg's. i know at least where my vote would go in that decision: i would vote in favor of the rabbi being protected over the mayor, any day of the week.
yet, the authorities apparently do not think our lives are as important as theirs. how can they? they have weapons to preserve their's. and, they would use those weapons against us, to prevent us from having weapons to preserve our.
think about that, if you will.

p.s. i do not actively practice law anymore. if i lived in new york city i would possess firearms. i would not discourage another person from a similar disregard of the law, were they to feel that they needed one for self presevation. i practice law for 25 years, in good standing in the washington bar. i worked as a prosecuting attorney for 6 of those years, and as a defense attorney for the balance of my career, some 15 years a contract public defender.
when our sovereign cannot or refuses to protect us, we no longer owe homage to that sovereign. we are morally right to disobey him, in my view, to disobey unjust laws. yet, the authorities seek to deprive us of this right. one must ask, why? what is there about this life, that one group of persons, who call themselves "leaders", would seek to deprive the rest of us of a fundamental right of self preservation, yet assert it unto themselves via firearms by our tax dollars.
if i lived in new york city, i would have the ability to defend myself by appropriate access and recourse to the use of a firearm, if necessary.

"IBN" broadcast via internet live feed:
India is now claiming that the attacks are the work of the Pakistani Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) agency -specifically by muslim-Pakistani "special forces units."
The reports state that the attacks are too well coordinated logistically and tactically to have been the typical work of low-level terrorists. Also - those muslim terrorists observed, captured, killed, were operating in very professional style - i.e. well trained - and claim that the "deccan mujhaden" is a false front propaganda move to redirect opinion away from the true criminals -Pakistani-trained muslim mass murderers.
In addition to all other coverage, IBN has been live reporting on the Israeli hostage situation in the "Nariman House" for the past 10 hours.

How could so many muslims misinterpret the teachings of the Religion Of Peace?

IBN Live internet feed reports:
Entering hour 24 of the arabic-religion’s murder attacks on the civilized world;
All muslim mass murderers occupying the Taj Hotel have been killed, however fire has broken out again at the hotel (result of Indian “special forces” attacks on the murderous muslims);
Oberoi (Trident) Hotel is not the focus of counter-muslim operations – with 6-7 muslim terror murderers remaining in that hotel;
Punjabi language is being used by the muslim mass murderers who are attacking Mumbai – this further indicates a connection with arabic-religion’s nation of Pakistan

now vice not focus

Latest from IBN Live internet feed:
Night 2 of the latest “murdering for mukhamet” campaign by arabic-religion-enabled lunatics:
A cell phone was dropped in a lobby of one of the hotels; IBN reports that the police and intel have stated that the cell is continuously ringing with the incoming ring number originating in a “neighboring country”;
Nariman Residential area –where the Israeli Chabad group is located is now completely blackout – no news in or out; speculation is that a counter attack by Indian forces is in progress;
Premature report on “all muslim mass murderers” being subdued (shot dead) at the Taj Hotel; apparently there are still some conducting their “religion's required” murderous rampage;
Oberai (Trident) Hotel – unknown number of hostages are apparently being held on the top floor of the hotel; counter attacks are apparently in progress there at this time

Raging Against Self Defense:
A Psychiatrist Examines The Anti-Gun Mentality
By Sarah Thompson, M.D.
Identity as Victim
If I were to summarize this article in three sentences, they would be:
(1) People who identify themselves as "victims" harbor excessive amounts of rage at other people, whom they perceive as "not victims."
(2) In order psychologically to deal with this rage, these "victims" utilize defense mechanisms that enable them to harm others in socially acceptable ways, without accepting responsibility or suffering guilt, and without having to give up their status as "victims."
(3) Gun owners are frequently the targets of professional victims because gun owners are willing and able to prevent their own victimization.
Thus the concept of "identity as victim" is essential. How and why do members of some groups choose to identify themselves as victims and teach their children to do the same? While it's true that women, Jews, and African- Americans have historically been victimized, they now participate in American society on an equal basis. And other groups, most notably Asian-Americans, have been equally victimized, and yet have transcended the "eternal victim" mentality.
Why, for example, would a 6'10" NBA player who makes $10 million a year see himself as a "victim"? Why would a successful, respected, wealthy, Jewish physician regard himself as a "victim"? Conversely, why might a wheelchair bound woman who lives on government disability NOT regard herself as a victim?
I would argue it's because the basketball player and the physician believe that their identities are dependent on being victims – not because they have actually been victimized, but because they're members of groups that claim victim status. Conversely, the disabled woman was probably raised to believe that she is responsible for her own success or failure.
In fact, many people who have been victims of actual violent crime, or who have survived war or civil strife, support the right of self-defense. The old saying is often correct: "a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged."
