Messiah Watch: School on Long Island changes name to "Barack Obama Elementary" (hat tip Doug)

ABC News' Matt Jaffe Reports:
A New York elementary school has been re-named in honor of President-elect Barack Obama. Ludlum Elementary School in Long Island's Hempstead Union Free School District was re-named at a board meeting Thursday, at the request of numerous school students.

"Just to watch these kids after the board voted on what they asked them to do, they were so elated," school district superintendent Dr. Joseph Laria told ABC News. "You want to talk about "Yes we can!"? That was a lesson in democracy."

Effective immediately, Ludlum will now be known as Barack Obama Elementary School, following a decision by the board to adopt the resolution drafted by students and staff.

But this is all a symptom of where our culture has gone, not just BHO. Have you been in a position to hire anybody lately? Resumes from so many of the GenX type kids are SO THIN. In their worlds, just having a certain position is proof of competence for whatever new position they are seeking. They get the "deer in the headlights" look when you ask them "what did you achieve?" instead of "what were your responsibilities?" So, in the case of BHO, even though he authored nothing while leading the Harvard Law Review, even though he voted "present" dozens of times as an Illinois state senator, and even though he wrote no legislation in the US Senate, just the fact that he had these job titles "proves" for the sheeple anyway that he is intelligent and competent and experienced enough to be POTUS.

Whose paying for the changes? i.e. new sign, letterheads, everything will need to be updated. I thought the schools were hurting for cash. And for what? In honor of the first black man to get elected president? Is this his accomplishment? We obviously don't know how he will do as president, he hasn't even been sworn in yet for pete's sake. America is world famous for its celebrity-heavy culture ("cult" would be a better world we think). Remember Marilyn? Or the thousands of others too numerous to mention.

So, now we have a person who is truly unqualified to so much as be a political decision-maker let alone president of the United States--but who is nonetheless a celebrity world wide and who got elected POTUS. Although it is certainly true that he's a leftist (ugh) his popularity clearly overrides this. The media loves the guy (and his pecs, too).

Thus we can see that BHO's political ascendancy had roots that lie within our very own culture. Somehow we need to marshall the courage up to face up to it and decide how we wish to tackle it. The seeds of America's destruction have been with us all along (celebrity worship).We have to do SOMETHING about it.

BHO's presidency will almost certainly crash and burn. If and when it does, Americans will have to realize they did it to themselves as they contemplate the ashes.

I am soooo glad you posted this!! When I heard it on the news at first I thought it was satire. Then I saw it in the paper. I think I was in so much shock at the STUPIDITY of it -- the cognitive dissonance was too much.

I wonder if these people have the Obama Commerative Coin and the Obama Plate hanging in the main office?
