Grim news. Deabornistan no doubt.
McCain Campaign Leaving Michigan
Republican presidential candidate John McCain is pulling out of Michigan -- halting mailings and advertising -- a month before the general election. The move comes as Democrat Barack Obama's poll numbers statewide rise in the wake of the recent economic upheaval.
It's a mighty big state

I live in Michigan. Why do I feel like I live in an Eastern European country in the 1930's-1940's after the nazis invaded?

Michigan used to be a red state, but it has gone blue for a while.
The last election it went red was 1988.
A simple tactical retreat to put resources to more productive use elsewhere.

Even if McCain is writing off Michigan, why the hell announce it?!? Just spend less (or nothing) and shut up. Do Michigan GOP donors get any of their money back? They could use it to make up for the damage done by McCain to their other candidates.
And he scuttled Palin's bounce to his campaign by forcing her to pay homage to the mainstream media dinosaurs. McCain is blowing the election.
I live in Michigan and vote Republican but I am getting tired of excusing the idiocy and cravenness of Republicans in Washington. As disastrous as Obama will be, maybe it would be best for him to win so we can hit rock bottom. Then there might be a chance for a Republican opposition to find their philosophical sea legs like they did in 1994.
