Nazmeen, an 11 year old girl, was molested and set on fire by her relative, for wearing lipstick. The perpetrator, her great uncle, is a conservative Muslim.

An 11 year old girl suffered 90% burns on her body when her great uncle set her on fire in Jaipur, India.

The 55 year old man, a conservative Muslim, told authorities that he was outraged over her wearing lipstick and being "scantily dressed". After conducting inappropriate acts with her body, he poured kerosene over her and set her in flames on Friday.

Her Hindu-community neighbours tried to save her, with one suffering injuries trying to put out the flames.

The police have told the NDTV network that the girl has a low chance of survival. They have arrested the offender for attempted murder.

Traditional Muslim communities require their women to observe the practice of hijab. This involves covering their bodies from head to toe.

However, relatives of the girl later told reporters that the man had tried to molest her, and upon meeting resistance, set her ablaze.

Malaysia bans tomboys saying girls with short hair who act like boys 'violate Islam'

Under the 'fatwa', girls are forbidden to have short hair and dress like boys.

Harussani Idris Zakaria (left), who attended the meeting of the National Fatwa Council, said an increasing number of Malaysian girls behave like tomboys, and some of them engage in homosexuality.

He said the council's ruling was not legally binding because it has not been passed into law, but that tomboys should be banned because they are 'sinful'.

He said: 'It doesn't matter if it's a law or not. When it's wrong, it's wrong.

'God created them as girls, they must act like girls.'

It was not immediately clear what punishment awaited those who violate the fatwa.

Council chairman Abdul Shukor Husin said the ruling was prompted by recent cases of young women behaving like men and indulging in homosexuality.

Malaysian media have reported on recent incidents of school bullying among girls, which have been caught on film and circulated on the internet.

In one film, some girls are seen beating up another girl in a bathroom.

Muslims make up some 60 percent of Malaysia's 27 million people, and are subject to Islamic laws and the council's edicts, even if the rulings have not been enshrined in national or Shariah law.

Male homosexual sex is illegal in Malaysia and punishable with up to 20 years in jail.

Investigations are continuing.

Indonesian muslim cleric married 12-year-old - report

AN Indonesian child protection agency is investigating reports of a marriage between a Muslim cleric and a 12-year-old girl, the Jakarta Post newspaper reports. The newspaper said the 43-year-old cleric from Central Java allegedly married the minor girl with her parents' consent in August and planned to marry two more girls, aged seven and nine.
