Hero or Zero? Who you going to vote for?( Thanks for the photoshop, Bruce) She knocked it out of the park. The upside of this media firestorm is I believe so many people watched her speech that wouldn't have without the media madness which is a great thing.
St. Paul is still so buzzed. What is so amazing is Palin's teleprompter was broken!
BREAKING: Sarah Palin "Winged" Her Speech Because of "Broken" Teleprompter Posted by: Erick Erickson
Obama is running scared. I received this from him (I'm on his email list) right after Palin's speech:
I wasn't planning on sending you something tonight. But if you saw what I saw from the Republican convention, you know that it demands a response.
I saw John McCain's attack squad of negative, cynical politicians. They lied about Barack Obama and Joe Biden, and they attacked you for being a part of this campaign.
But worst of all -- and this deserves to be noted -- they insulted the very idea that ordinary people have a role to play in our political process.
You know that despite what John McCain and his attack squad say, everyday people have the power to build something extraordinary when we come together. Make a donation of $5 or more right now to remind them.
"attack squad?" lol Tell it to Palin!
Both Rudy Giuliani and Sarah Palin specifically mocked Barack's experience as a community organizer on the South Side of Chicago more than two decades ago, where he worked with people who had lost jobs and been left behind when the local steel plants closed.
They deserve to be mocked. They are clowns.
[...]
It's now clear that John McCain's campaign has decided that desperate lies and personal attacks -- on Barack Obama and on you -- are the only way they can earn a third term for the Bush policies that McCain has supported more than 90 percent of the time.
I smell the odious stench of desperation and it ain't McCain. Dr. Chatwick opined on Obama's email, "First, it is whining!! Unadulterated. Second, it is wrong. Undoubtedly! What he describes as "community organizing," is just plain old town meetings and trying to work out problems, done all over America, and, frankly, many, many other countries. Chainging names seems to be part of Barack's routine. Shades of 1984."
The feminazis have bared their fangs. Steinem seethes and projectile vomits here:
The AP derides Palin's family .................morally ill.

Matthew Sheffield noted, "About a year into MSNBC's strategy of refashioning itself into the network for Bush haters, some consequences are starting to emerge for the cable channel and its corporate parent NBC.
Internally, the lurch to the left has resulted in numerous outbreaks of hostility as the remains of the old guard fight to protect themselves and the token conservatives find themselves increasingly marginalized."
Sarah Palin connects with people in a way that few politicians can by Fred Barnes hat tip Van
St. Paul That was easy. Sarah Palin delivered what may have been the most important speech ever by a vice presidential candidate and made it look like she'd been performing on the national political stage for years. And she made John McCain look good for having picked her as his running mate. [...]
So how in the world could this 44-year-old woman with no national political experience handle the whole thing with poise and composure and seeming effortlessness? Simple. She's a natural, gifted with the ability to connect with people in a way that few politicians can and to perform under extreme pressure. She has star quality.
Political figures like this don't come along very often. And heaven knows Republicans haven't seen anyone like Palin emerge from their ranks since Ronald Reagan first attracted national attention in 1964. That's a long time to wait. They've been starved for a leader with charisma and a knack for leadership. Now they have one. CONTD...
Sebjoeko noted in the Atlas comment section:
I wish I knew how to 'screencap' some of the commentary that I've seen on Obama-loving sites, the latest on NPR's 'the TakeAway' AM radio program. On the 'newsworthy' topic of the unexpected pregnancy of Sarah Palin's 17 yr old daughter was this: 'how could she possibly subject her to this intense media scrutiny? I guess this proves that her family is just white trash.' Imagine that...an NPR-listener, a woman no less, using such an ugly, racist
epithet? As reported many times here, this has been the 'angry Left's' response, until last night.
The Wall Street Journal has some great (rational and fair!) coverage today, along with a MUST-READ editorial by Dan Henninger: 'What's so Special about Sarah Palin' that blows all the smoke away from the BS of the past few days, and takes brutal aim at why Palin has been so vilified, and what the opposition can expect to see in the coming weeks. Fantastic. I hope folks can link to this
The vitriole is not working! Go to Us Magazine's website, there was a poll there that asked if Palin would make a good VP.. it was 64% YES.
You just gotta love it!
Go Megyn! Click here: YouTube - Megyn Kelly vs. Us Weekly magazine
Steve (Hillary supporter) sent me this:
I have received many responses to Sarah's appearance last night, all extremely positive. The following is from a 42-year old African-American (female) lawyer giving her reaction:
I am ECSTATIC!! There were more zingers than I could count. This woman is my new hero. She is a serious GAME-CHANGER!!! A female Harry Truman, wouldn't you say?
Wow. I think Biden has got his work cut out for him. -- M. (who backed Hillary Clinton in the Dem. Primaries)
The following is from Hillarycrat Melissa:
That was the most amazing, most tremendous speech I have been witness to. I stood up in my living room several times and rah rah'd her. Rudy kicked butt too! I truly can see her as President. Train under McCain Ms. Palin and then I promise to vote for you when you run. Good Lord I have goosebumps!!!
My husband and father were amazed. My father said she needed to run for President! HA! Two southern, stereotypical men were exclaiming outloud at parts. It was kind of funny. My husband said "Good God, she is one of us! One of us is going to the White House!" I think he said it the best. -- Michelle
Fasten your seatbelts, the left is going to pull out all the stops. Dirty, dirty pool. It is going to get ugly because these folks are the ugliest of uglys.
UPDATE: In the comment section, Lawrence writes, "Go to Us Magazine's website, there was a poll there that asked if Palin would make a good VP.. it was 64% YES". I just checked and it was at 71% YES. Will have to check back later today.
UPDATE: It's official, Peggy Noonan is an idiot. Palin is obviously a threat to Peggy Noonan, Hutchinson pales next to Palin. Noonan wrote a couple of good speeches. So what?
The bottom line is you know the real thing when you see it. Even to the poltical neophyte. And Palin is the real thing.

Lawrence, thanks for the tip about the poll in US magazine. It currently registers as 81.94% YES in favor of Sarah Palin. Looks like many of the Atlas readers have weighed in. As for the way Megyn Kelly of Fox News grilled the editor of US magazine about its obnoxious attack of Sarah Palin, I thought she was terrific!

Sarah Palin was born to speak in front of a BIG crowd. I think not only has discovered over time she is good at it, I think she LOVES IT and is more herself then, than in the shower.
Nomatter what we think of John McCain, or what happens in Nov, we owe him a huge debt for jump starting Reagan 2.0.
The man said "REFORM" and I guess he really, friggin means it.
Maybe they are scared on BOTH sides of the aisle

All of my life I have heard the feminists say we women can do anything men can do. I just realized this week it's only true if you have a (D) behind your name. Shame on them! Go Sarah, I think your the best thing since sliced bread. Last night proved it. And as I was watching her family watch her, I could feel the love that they have for one another, that's hard to fake. Trig's sisters adore him, and it shows. That's a real family. When I watched Michelle Obama last week, I couldn't tell if her smiles were real because she was so Botoxed. The left took their gloves off, mine are off now!!!!

Obama's comments/criticisms are not only wrong, but they are incoherent.

To heck with Peggy Noonan!
She bad mouthed Pres. Bush for the longest time and now she has turned her venom against Gov. Palin. And she is an idiot, too. When I saw Sen. McCain picked Gov. Palin, I realized it was a brilliant move!
Is Peggy so absorbed by the wine and brie set in NYC that she cannot even perceive reality or how certain events will influence the Republican base?
I took heart when Rich Galen said the media's ugly, vicious smear campaign against Gov. Palin will backfire against them.
I hope there is a little chilvary left in that regard.

Angry readers dump Us Magazine over Palin
"Three celebrity weeklies — OK!, People and Us Weekly — featured Sarah Palin on their cover, but one of those magazines is reportedly losing subscribers because of it.
Us Weekly, which unlike People and OK!, chose a rather caustic cover line (“Babies, Lies and Scandal”) is said to have lost thousands of subscribers in just the first 24 hours following the printing of the issue."
“When Us went to print Monday night, it looked like the ticket was falling apart," says one magazine editor. “They went to print thinking Palin was dead in the water, and their mistake was thinking everyone who reads Us is a Democrat, when they’re not. Readers are loyal, but the base of a political party is more loyal. They don’t need to read the magazine when there’s so much press around it to know to be upset.”
Upset might be an understatement: One Us advertiser has admitted that they’ve received calls from angry former subscribers threatening to boycott their products. “(Us publisher) Jann Wenner supports Obama, Wenner media decided to follow the buzz around Palin before her speech, and now subscribers feel like a vote has been cast on their behalf," says another magazine editor. “It’s going to be tough to bounce back from this one. Especially if the advertisers get involved. If they get nervous, that can hurt all of us.”
