MONSTERS
Across from my hotel in the middle of the town square the morally illf MSNBC broadcasts over speakers. Torture is listening to the nasal tone of Chris Matthews drone on all afternoon about Palin's 17 year old daughter. This is war. Palin is a great American, a great mother, a great woman, a great governor and a great VP. The left is scared to death of her.
They are going after her like vultures to red meat. Three front page New York Times stories, above the fold, questioning McCain’s choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin but they wouldn't touch the lecherous, betrayal of John Edwards, a candidate for President.
Larwyn sent this on:
Joseph Bottum has a bracing post looking at the reaction in some precincts of the left to the smears being spread about Sarah Palin and her family. When some commenters on the Daily Kos site took complained that the smearing of Palin was beyond the pale, other commenters objected to the objection. Sample response: "If health insurance for all, an end to the Iraq War, an end to torture and illegal wiretapping, and a sane energy policy can be obtained at the price of destroying one teenage girl, her family, and the surrendering our self-respect I see that as a cheap trade." Another commenter adds, "Are you telling me that you would not use character-destroying lies to ensure a war against Iran does not occur? . . . What choice do we have? When faced with monsters, we have to be monstrous ourselves."
Monstrous indeed.
BREAKING: Democrats Release Sarah Palin's Social Security Number Posted by: Erick Erickson
The Politico has received an opposition research file from the Alaska Democrats. You can read it in PDF here.
In the file, the Democrats have released Sarah Palin's social security number minus the last four digits. Also tied to the information are her various home addresses.
Back in 2005, Democrats used Michael Steele's social security number to get his credit record.
It is atrocious that the Democrats would not only seek out Sarah Palin's social security number, but release it in opposition research to the press.
We need to know who did this. We also need to know what happened. We also need to know if it was used to bolster the Democrats' opposition research.
When it happened to Michael Steele, it turns out the Democrats knew about it and did nothing.
Sam Stein alleges on Huffington Post that the first person to pore through the archives of Palin's hometown newspaper, the Valley Frontiersman in Wasilla, Alaska, was a researcher for Barack Obama's campaign this weekend.
The paper's (massive) archives are not online. And when he went to research past content, he was told he was the first to inquire.
"No one else had requested access before," said the source. "It's unbelievable. We were the only people to do that, which means the McCain camp didn't."
As I said Saturday, I expect a flood of colorful stuff to come out about the Palins, who've never been subjected to scrutiny one-thousandth as intense as what they'll be facing now. This morning, an Alaskan named Steven Oaks posted a 1996 family video on YouTube that's purported to be Todd Palin talking to his daughter Bristol on the day he learned Sarah was elected mayor of Wasilla. Oaks claims the video was in a camera donated to Iditarod Elementary School by the Palins when Bristol was a student in his mother Mary Oaks' class.
UPDATE:
Look how disgusting People magazine is. Send all their female employees home. Barefoot and pregnant!
What do you think of this little gem from the People magazine website?:(hat tip Daviid)
If you were facing the same family issues as Sarah Palin would you have accepted John McCain's offer to run for vice president? Yes 39% No 61%

The police in Denver were rumored to have a "crap cannon" for use on the protesters when the DNC held their Dupe-fest last week. Allegedly it's a marvelous device that makes people defecate involuntarily. I never heard if the super-secret tool was used or even exists, but how handy it would be from such a close range to this trio from MSNBC. THAT would make MSNBC worth watching...but only for a few moments.
