McCain Won
Does it matter? I see the media is spinning it anyway they choose.
Clearly McCain is more substatative, The depth and breath of his knowledge and experience makes the kindergartener look .... silly.
He utterlly destroyed Obama over the "let's talk to Iran" issue, and when he rattled off the names of the Georgian and Ukranian leaders (who are McCain's personal friends), Obama had nothing to say. And why hasn't Obama gone to Afghanistan?
My problem with McCain is he never goes for jugular. He could have wiped the floor with Obama on the surge and he didn't.
The Democrats caused the financial crisis and McCain warned about it. Obama took big money, dirty money from Fannie Mae. Why didn't he bring up the massive vote fraud at ACORN who is part of Obama's dirty coterie. Or that ACORN is slated to get 20% of the financial bailout? If McCain doesnt't bring it up and explain that, the folks ain't never going to know.
McCain should have explicitedly said we have been talking to Iran for 5 years now. Time is on their side. They use that time to perfect their science. Obama blwing before to Ahmadinejad is somehow going to change that?
I did love the Leaugue of Democratic nations idea. Basically Mccain was saying out of the UN which most Americans would love. he should of gone into more depth on that. I covered a symposium of this very thing here.
"The United Democratic Nations," an organization of free nations. Shared values. This seems to be one of the malignancies of the UN. How can democracies and dictatorships co-exist in a world body successfully. They can't. And so immediately the organization is/was destined to fail.

you tell me who displayed more respect and manners during the debate?
making faces, interrupting, cutting off, making faces, trying to cozy up to moderator, pointing finger at moderator (at times it felt like 2 on 1 almost - never giving mccain opportunity to respond)...
mccain schooled obama - you don't say things like that publicly (bombing Pakistan), you do what you have to do but you don't say it publicly
totally missed out on fannie/freddie connections...could have ended conversation right there
obama's definition of rich - 250K? give me a break - how many Americans make even $150K - what a sham...avg US income is what $50K
mccain mentioned Maddy Albright but got sidetracked - could have drove that point on North Korea home...
the words Islam, Islamic terrorism not even mentioned... obama keeps saying al-qaeda stronger now than ever...says who? where's the evidence of this? mccain never once mentioned that the US has not been attacked at home since 9/11 - why not?
both failed on the question if another 9/11 is imminent

Pamela, you hit the nail right on the head. McCain simply will not go for the jugular nor will he use his best ammunition. He could have wiped the floor with Obama but did not. Why is he giving Obama a free ride? It was a debate of lost opportunities.

McCain won't go for the jugular because he is white and Obama is black. No white opponent will attack Obama like they would attack another white candidate. It was the same situation between Hillary and Obama. As we saw, she lost the race against him. White people are scared to death to attack a black Democrat publicly. Not so with conservative Blacks. They are fair game for attack by anyone because they have no strident constituency to offer a denfensive counterattack. It is the fear of controversy, of being attacked by the media and fear of the really vocal black groups. I do not see how McCain can win this election. He does not have it in him to win.
America is full of bright, intelligent, energetic, articulate, discerning, knowledgeable people. I cannot believe this great country selected these two candidates for the Office of the Presidency of the USA. In my opinion, they are poor choices. I will vote for neither one.
And for those of us who were disgusted with the Clinton Presidency, we will be even more outraged with the Obama Presidency when it happens.

It's because Obama would have brought up McCain's involvement in The Keating Five Scandal, Mac being the only "Republican" accused. There all just covering each others asses.

It organizations as the UN that breeds these wishy-washy socialist types. The UN was a good idea, like many other good ideas, it did not work out so it is time to scrap or drastically reform it. The only way to reform it would be to treat the general assembly meetings the same way as a shareholder meeting, the handful of countries that supply 80% of the funds get 80% of the votes. As it is at the moment, it is like a kindergarten with the toddlers having an equal voice to the teachers.
Better still is to scrap it entirely, start a new organization where all states which have a clear, uncorrupted and democratic government can join, even ask for help in development which will be totally overseen by the sponsors. As for the OIC
countries needing aid or disaster assistance, let them go to OPEC for it.

Wait until the debate on economic issues. Last night was supposed to be foreign policy and national security only. Leher, or however the hell you spell the jerk's name, asked these questions to help Obama. In other words, they both cheated.
I will happily vote for McCain/Palin.
The Keating thing is a red herring.

The best part of the debate was Barry's senio moment. "Iv'e got a bracelet too" but couldn't remember the name of the soldier he used as a prop.

From NRO:
Did Obama Have a 'Bush Looking At His Watch' Moment Tonight?
I wonder if we had a "Bush looking at his watch" moment tonight.
After McCain talked about the bracelet from the mother of a slain soldier, Obama mentioned that he had one, too.
Unfortunately, it would seem that he didn't have the name of the solder, Ryan David Jopek (sp?), quite on the tip of his tongue. He seems to have to read the name off the bracelet:
Obama: Jim, let me just make a point. I've got a bracelet, too.
(Looks up, adjusts wrist, looks down at wrist)
Obama: From sergeant... uh.. (adjusts wrist) uh, from the mother of sergeant Ryan David Jopek (phonetic). Given to me in Green Bay. And she asked me, can you please make sure another mother isn't going through what I'm going through?
