Say it ain't so Joe, Anyone but Lieberman
Wild speculation abounds on McCain's veep pick ...... narrowing in on Joe Lieberman. An idea enthusiastically endorsed by any number of right of center heavyweights. Look, I like Joe Lieberman. He is a good man, a good Democrat. He best embodies what the Democrat party looked like before it
went off the radical deep end. And I respect him on foreign policy issues. But he is a Democrat and a social liberal.
McCain cannot name a Democrat to the veep spot. WTF? A democrat on the Republican ticket. That would be suicide.
WE ARE NOT A ONE PARTY COUNTRY. I repeat, not a one party country. There is no reason on g-d's green earth, that a Republican should not be picked for the veep slot on the Republican ticket.
Strategically, McCain needs a conservative on the ticket. We already have a liberal on the ticket - McCain, we don't need another one. McCain may have recently shored up his support with conservatives, we are, after all a logical bunch - but if he wants a spin out - he'll name a Democrat to the ticket.
It is an unconscionable move. Me? I like Romney but I will take Pawlenty, Palin, Giuliani, Ridge et al .... any Republican over a Democrat.
Nookin futz.

Pamela,
I agree 1000% - if McCain picks liberman, we might as well get used to the idea of calling Mr. Obama "Mr. President".
I have a word for Mr. McCain - John it ain't 1864 and you ain't Lincoln.

I read up on Ridge yesterday. Ridge's problem go further than being pro abortion.
When he was in congress he voted against star wars and As the Spectator found out "...as a Congressman during the Reagan years. Ridge, said one heated activist, "cast one of the highest percentage votes against President Reagan of any member of Congress when he was there..."

Hey... If you're a republican running for President as a conservative democrate then Lieberman is certainly a compatible choice as VP.

The Lieberman as McCain's VP story was just that a story. It was a good read thats all, it will never happen.
There are many good Republicans who ran against McCain and would make a good VP choice, but unlike Senator Obama I don't think McCain will make his choice from one of them. I really believe he will choose from the ranks of Republicans who have previously served within the Executive Branch during a previous Republican Administration or as a State Governor. Some names I would add to the list are: Steele, Powell, Rice (don't shoot me, she could still re-think her position on terrorism),among others whose names I can't recall right now. Its anyones guess.
Be sure though, that whomever, McCain picks as his VP, they will create more synergy among the voters than Obama/Biden.
