Gorgeous day New York City and it's even more gorgeous at the Women's Republican Club. I am Liveblogging Annual Black Republican Forum. Where's McCain?
David Webb is happy to be in a room with "Africa American conservatives and everyone else" introducing conservative man of the year Right Talk radio host and WND columnist Mychal Massie (moderator for the afternoon)
"We don’t need a black man to be president so badly that it forces us to take leave of our senses. We need a man (or woman) president who is pro-America, pro her citizens, is committe to our Constitution, and pro traditional values."
Princella Smith is recounting the true history of Civil Rights. And its
been the Republicans that have the history on fighting slavery, racism
and civils rights? Whyis that Black America stands with the party of
Jim Crow laws and the Klu Klux Klan, that fought civil rights?
"All those racist Democrats stayed racist Democrats until the day they died"
The Democrats keep the black community in abject poverty to maintain power of them.
The Democrats hijacked the Republicans civil rights movement upon JFK's death (the Republicans would not exploit his death)
"The Democrats are the party of poverty, the Republicans in the party of prosperity"
I say, amen to that.
And if you missed my off the cuff live interview with Allen West, go here.
AN ATLAS FIRST: GUEST BLOGGER ON MY MACHINE. Now that's hot.
GUEST LIVEBLOG - Hip Hop Republican is taking over and writing the following update:
Atlas and Frances Rice Hip Hop Republican takes over Atlas's machine
Thanks Pamela for allowing me on to take over..the person who is up speaking is Rep. Jennifer Carroll she is speaking on the bias in media. She started her talk with a question is the media biased? She answered the question with a question "does the veins need blood". Rep. Jennifer Carroll is speaking about the slaughter of black children by black children and the failure of the media to highlight this. She just spoke about the media's influence on black youth and the terrible consequence that occur when they are parroted. The message she is leaving with the audience is that Republican's do not want to harm the black community but to heal it.
The next speaker is David Webb he is a radio show host who is speaking about the need for all us us to look at character over race and to focus on the issues.
There is now a panel starting to answer questions from the panelist and Bob Parks is being asked by a women in the audience about the success of his campaign in Massachusetts's. Bob is giving a brief history and demographic of the issues of the district.
We are all being asked now to take a break.....
Okay break over..I am sitting here with fish crackers and sprite and am listening to Niger Innis from CORE a Manhattan based advocacy group. Niger is speaking on immigration policy he is talking about the differences in various nations regarding this policy. He is talking about the historical diversity of our nation and how effective policy can shape its role in the future.
UPDATE: My special guest bloggerHip Hop Republican continues:
Now for the number one speaker Colonel Allen West. He just saluted
three army service members in the audience. He is now talking about the
historical significance of building up a nations border from ancient
Rome till today. He is talking about the dangers of sanctuary cities
that effect mostly black and poor communities. Allen West is
highlighting how many of the gangs like MS13 have created turf wars and
a potential nightmare. He is tying in health cost and economic security
with the ability of our nations failure to crack down in illegal
immigration...okay he is done
Now the panel is applauding the young solders who are in the audience ironically all Hispanic.
Pamela here: Deborah Honeycutt is up. WOW. This brilliant brash, doctor is a proud Republican and she will be the first African American females Republican congressperson. I am listening to her and she is inspiring. Apparently, my first impression is spot on because Hip Hop just gave me an article and it appears Honeycutt is strategically poised to become the the Republican Party what Oybambi is for the Democrats - an historic political star.
She is running in the 13th District in Gerogia and she is electric.
Pamela here:I asked the panel how they were going to copmbat the media blackout on their message. "if the Republican message is the bastard, the Black republican message is the aborted child (ta liberal pun). What are you going to do to circumvent the MSM and get the message out."
Deborah Honeycutt responded: "We have to go to every meeting, every group discussion. We must shout from the housetops. We cannot be silent. We mest get out there. We must use the net"
Speaking of which, I am going to go see if I grab Honeycutt and see if I can get a VLOG. I just finished a interview with Kerry's opponent Jeff Beatty. Check it out on youtube now!
Break time: Loading video of Deborah Honeycutt. What a woman! This is a great event. McCain stumbled big time by not being here. This is his constituency. He would have brought the press and the message of these great Americans would get out there. Foolish move.
UPDATE: HONEYCUTT AND ATLAS INTERVIEW. She rocks!
Bishop Yonel Yarboro (left) Leftie sighting! Ellis Henicon showed up for the carrots.
Next up: Keynote speaker Lynn Swann
Frances Rice, Lynn Swann, David Webb
Black Republican Chair Jennifer Carrol just endorsed McCain. CROWD GOING WILD!
Webb is speaking of tonight's theme. RACE AND THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE. Lynn Swann will be speaking on the subject.
Swann speaking. He's funny. "my mom and dad wanted two daughters. They wanted two daughters, and they had me. They named me Lynn anyway" :)
She enrolled him in dance classes anyway and after being surrounded by girls for a couple of years he said to himself, this is not a bad place to be. He was a Baptist and and went to an all girl's religious school.
Discussing Race in the Presidential Race.
Race is not an issue. The economy is an issue.
Foreign Policy, if you are elected to the office of the United States, is an issue.
Education is an issue. Race is not an race.
The Democrats and the candidate has made race an issue.
Martin Luther King said a man should be judged, not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character.
The race is about the economy. He is going on to describe the short and long term impact of the deleterious effects of what the Democrats have planned. He is saying that small business cannot take such a hit.
21 million small businesses will suffer enormously. They will be forced to lay off workers.
ENERGY: We have to drill. HUGE APPLAUSE.
I live in Pennsylvania, We like coal. We need a president who do what is necessary not a facade of hope.
Swann is congratulating what Obama acheived and it deserves respect.
You must ask these three questions of the candidates:
Who am I?
What do I believe?
How do I act on those beliefs?
Ask those questions and there is no other answer. That person is JOHN MCCAIN!
John McCain is the clear choice.
I do not have aclear undrstanding of what and who Obama is and what he stands for.
We need someone we can count on.
We don't need more entitlements.
I do not intend to be herded into a polling place and be told I have vote a certain way.
McCain has been tested.
Recounting a story now of how he was questioned at a football game by a woman, "how can you be a Republican"
and he said, "because I choose to."
Why do you assume because I am black that I have to be a Democrat?
I am a free man. I choose
The Republican party is the spirit and the soul of the Black people. We have to be ministers of the Republican.
Ladies and Gentlemen, open those doors to the Republican church.
UPDATE: Thanks to Pamela for this: Lynn Swann's speech at Black Republican Forum (22 minutes)
